Shirley Ballas brings in expert to protect from trolls

OHMYGOSSIP — Shirley Ballas has hired a social media manager to help give her an “easy ride” through the new season of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 62-year-old dancer – who took over as head judge on the show from the late Len Goodman in 2017 – has been repeatedly targeted by trolls unhappy with her critiques on the BBC Latin and ballroom show so she has enlisted expert help to keep the cruel comments hidden from her.
She told MailOnline: “I feel more prepared going into series seven than I have felt going into any other series.
“I have a new social media manager, called Harry, who is a university-trained mathematician, so he teaches maths for a living, but he’s taken a year off.
“He’s very skilled at social media so he will be filtering everything.
“We will be working together alongside my son who will help as well from the US. Hopefully I will have a little bit more of an easy ride this year.”
With the new series of the show just weeks away, Shirley already has her glitzy wardrobe ready and waiting but she admitted she doesn’t offer any of her own opinions on what the wardrobe team choose for her because she thinks they “know best”.
She said: “I have a dresser called Alexandria and she does all 32 outfits for me at the beginning of the run and then I rely on her.
“I don’t interfere with hair and make-up, and I don’t interfere with clothing because they’re the professionals and they know best.”
Shirley has just returned to the UK after a week at Jason Vale’s luxury retreat in Portugal, where she lost a staggering 9lbs in a week thanks to a juicing regime and lots of exercise.
She said: “I lost 9lb. Yoga is definitely something I’m going to keep up throughout the whole Strictly series. I have cleansed my system too, I do colonic irrigation, I’m up at 5am every morning.
“I wasn’t there to sunbathe, I was there to take every spin class, two hours hiking up hills that would put my heart rate close to 179, that’s how high we were going.
“It was a tough, tough week of hard work but I came back really rejuvenated.”

Roman Kemp had to consult famous parents to find out who his Finish Line co-host Sarah Greene was

OHMYGOSSIP — Roman Kemp didn’t know who Sarah Greene was when they were hired to co-host ‘Finish Line’.
The Capital Breakfast host had to turn to his parents, Spandau Ballet bassist Martin Kemp and Wham! backing singer Shirlie Holliman, for insider information on his 65-year-old co-presenter – who is best known for fronting children’s shows such as ‘Going Live!’ and ‘Blue Peter’ in the 1980s – when he was first told they would be working together.
He told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: “Oh My God. But it was my fault. So my mum and dad gave me a quick education.
“[They] were both interviewed by her.”
However, Roman, 30, thinks the “generational difference” between himself and his 65-year-old co-host has worked well for the show.
He added: “But Sarah is so amazing and the generational difference is so nice. It created this bond between the two of us, that we were playing to two different audiences.”
Roman was left stunned by “naughty” Sarah’s “dirty humour” when they were filming the show, which starts on BBC One next month.
He said: “Sarah’s naughty, man. Some of the s*** that comes out of Sarah’s mouth is unbelievable.
“She put me in my place, but sometimes I had to say to her, ‘Sarah, you can’t say that on TV!’ She’s really,
really funny and she’s got dirty humour, she won’t mind me saying that, but don’t let the pretty face fool you, 100% she knows what she’s doing.”
Roman previously detailed a spat between his mum and his godfather George Michael, who wanted to stop her moving their family to Los Angeles because it would “ruin” him and his older sister, Harley.
He told The Sun newspaper: “My relationship with fame is skewed by growing up as George Michael’s godson.
“I always remember this huge argument between him and my mum – the biggest they had actually.
“Mum said, ‘We are moving to LA,’ and he said, ‘No, that will ruin your kids’.
“He didn’t care about them, he cared about me and my sister, Harley. He was like, ‘Fame and that world is not what they should aspire to.’ ”

Sir David Jason forced to have ‘bionic body part’ surgery

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir David Jason is undergoing surgery to have a “bionic body part fitted” – forcing him to postpone an ‘Only Fools and Horses’ convention.
The 83-year-old actor, who played Del Boy on the BBC’s ‘Only Fools’ sitcom from 1981 to 2003, gave fans the update on his health in a statement explaining why he couldn’t appear at the event.
He joked he didn’t want to specify exactly what surgery he was heading for as it might make his fans “all want one”.
Dad-of-two Sir David said in a statement shared on his Facebook page about having to pull out of the planned ‘Only Fools and Horses Convention’: “I am so very sorry for the disappointment and all the inconvenience it may cause but we are having to change the date of the forthcoming ‘Only Fools and Horses Convention’.
“Unfortunately I have just been advised I need a new bionic body part fitted. I won’t tell you which part it is, or you will all want one!
“And don’t worry it’s not being supplied by Monkey Harris, it’ll be the pukka gear.”
He added about rescheduling the ‘Only Fools’ event: “I really hope everyone will be able to make the new date January 13th and 14th and we can all have something cushty to look forward to! These events are such an enjoyable celebration for myself and the rest of the ‘Only Fools’ cast, and it is such a privilege to meet so many of you, but I want to do it with the smile on my face I always have had.”
Sir David signed off his statement: “Once again, please accept my sincere apologies as it was not a decision I took at all lightly and I hope that you understand my situation. All cushty wishes until then.”
The ‘Only Fools’ convention was set to take place in October but is now planned for January at the Hilton Hotel in Milton Keynes.
Sir David has struggled with his health after a “seriously bad” battle with Covid in July 2022.
The viral infection left him so frail he suffered a fall at his home in Ellesborough, Buckinghamshire, and told BBC Breakfast about his tumble “All the muscles weren’t working. I collapsed and I fell against the radiator. I was so weak, I couldn’t get up.
“I tried for about a quarter of an hour, trying all sorts of things to stand up so I could walk about.
“But in order to do that, I had to use my head. So now I’m lying face down on the ground, and in order to get to the door – and the arms really weren’t working and the legs weren’t working – I was using my head to drag me to the door.”
It is thought Covid triggered a condition called myalgia, which causes muscle aches and pain and can strike at ligaments, tendons and fascia – the soft tissues that connect muscles, bones and organs.

Emmerdale star leaving after more than a decade on the soap

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Emmerdale’ star Liam Fox is bowing out of the soap after 12 years and is set for a “very sad” and “emotional” ending.
His longtime character on the ITV soap, Dan Spencer, is facing years behind bars for manslaughter after Lloyd Sawyer’s death.
He punched him for stalking his daughter Amelia Spencer.
But he hit so hard, it left Lloyd fighting for his life in a coma for weeks before he died from his injuries.
Speaking about his final scenes, Liam told OK! magazine and other members of the media: “When I read the scripts, it was like: ‘Wow, this is awesome.’
“He’s kind of taking it all in and realising that he’s going and getting support from other people in the village. There’s some lovely stuff.
“I feel very lucky to get that sort of script around the story.”
He went on to praise the writers and admitted he burst into tears reading the script.
Liam said: “Before he goes, he goes into the Woolpack and Man Club are there and really supporting him.
“It’s really well written, really nice stuff. It made me cry a few times reading it, so yeah, very emotional, lovely stuff.
“I feel very lucky to get that sort of script around the story.”
Dan and Amelia were going to flee for Ireland, but decided against it, with Dan not only leaving his daughter behind but his young grandchild Esther Spencer.
Liam said that even if he does eventually get out of prison, Dan will never be the same.
He added: “He’s scared about how long he’s going to get.
“I think he’s presuming he’s going to get three years or something like that.
“He’s got it in his head, you know, after 18 months, he might be out and everything.
“But even so, can he cope with 18 months? Is that something Dan can get his head around?
“Whatever Dan does, when he comes out, if he comes out, he’s going to be a different man. Somebody like Dan will not benefit from prison.”

EastEnders star John Partridge feared he’d never speak again

OHMYGOSSIP — John Partridge feared he’d never speak or sing again after having cysts removed from his vocal cords.
The former ‘EastEnders’ star went under the knife to have growths removed and was left unable to talk for nine months as he battled “debilitating” pain during his recovery – but after two surgeries he’s now finally on the mend.
During an appearance on ‘Sunday Brunch’, the 52-year-old actor explained: “I’ve not done a stage show or a stage tour since 2019. I had two surgeries on my vocal cords through the pandemic and it wasn’t guaranteed that I’d ever be able to sing or speak really again … I just got my all-clear last week from Guy’s Hospital that I’m fully fit, fighting fit and ready to go. But for me singing is like my seventh sense – I wasn’t able to speak at all for nine months and for me, it was like losing my sight or losing my hearing. I sing when I feel good, when I feel down, I sing without even knowing when you’re driving along in the car. It was a really debilitating thing.”
He added of his medical troubles: “My first surgery I had a cyst on my left vocal cord and that went really, really well but I healed really badly because it had been historic. My body didn’t realise that it didn’t have a cyst anymore. So when they took it away and packed it, my body went: ‘Ooh, what is that?!’ and pushed it out, so I scarred really badly. I had the first surgery during the first lockdown and then we got into the second lockdown and I couldn’t get back in.
“So when I got back in and they saw it, I had what they call a glottoplasty. This is what happens when you go from male to female transition, it’s kind of the female vocal feminisation process where they slightly shave away your vocal cord to raise the pitch of your voice. So my left chord they slightly shaved that away so I got myself a couple more notes at the top. So I now have the voice I should have had [when I was younger].”
John – who played Christian Clarke in the BBC One soap for eight years – is now back on stage with a role in hit show ‘ Everybody’s Talking About Jamie’.

The Nun 2 is the ‘most violent’ film in the Conjuring series

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Nun 2’ director Michael Chaves believes it’s the most “violent” movie in the ‘Conjuring’ franchise.
The filmmaker has warned viewers they are not only in for some “scary” horror scenes, but to prepare for the increased violence.
He told SFX magazine: “I think that this does get darker. Even audiences have said this when we screened it. It is definitely more violent than what they expected from a Conjuring movie.
“It’s always a delicate balance. It’s definitely scary, it’s 100 per cent delivered on that.
“Just as horror audiences have developed the appetite for horror, the appetite for violence has started to increase, and so there are some violent elements in this.”
‘The Nun’ was a prequel to the 2018 spin-off from ‘The Conjuring 2’ and featured Bonnie Aarons as a demonic nun.
The flick was set in a monastery in 1952 and told the story of a priest and a nun – played by Demian Bichir and Taissa Farmiga respectively – attempting to fight the nun’s evil possessions.
The movie became the highest-grossing instalment in the ‘Conjuring’ series.
In ‘The Nun 2’, Sister Irene (Taissa Farmiga) is back four years after the events of the first movie.
She has relocated to Italy to live in peace in a convent. Little does she know that Valak is on her tail, and she’ll have to face her again.
James Wan teased that the nun’s friendship with Frenchie/ Maurice (Jonas Bloquet) is the reason why she will come face-to-face with the nun again after the demon possessed the latter.
Producer James Wan teased: “He [Frenchie] realises that there’s only one person that can really help him, and he reaches out to Taissa Farmiga’s character.
He continued: “I love this platonic friendship that the two of them have. She cares very much for him, and she wants to do everything she can to help him. At the same time, she has to confront this evil and fight it again.”

Liam Cunningham’s personal link to new Dracula movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Cunningham has shared his a personal link to Dracula after starring in new vampire movie ‘The Last Voyage of the Demeter’.
The ‘Game of Thrones’ star plays the captain of the doomer schooner Demeter in the film which is based on the ‘The Captain’s Log’ segment of Bran Stoker’s ‘Dracula’ telling the story of the ship’s final voyage from Transylvania to London – and Liam says the role feels personal because he lives down the road from where the book’s author was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1847.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter – believed to have been given before the Hollywood actors strike was announced – Liam explained: “About a kilometre down the road from me is the house that Bram Stoker was born in. I drive by his birthplace probably 10 times a week. I consider him a neighbour.”
He added of the new movie: “The attraction for me was that there are no movie stars in it – everybody’s actors. Almost all of us were from theatre backgrounds and yet Amblin had the bravery not to need a marquee name.
“It’s not a cheap movie, you can see the money on the screen. And that immediately brings, to my opinion, a certain amount of confidence, that they’re gonna get behind something like this and want to make it well, because they didn’t take the easy route.”
The film also stars Corey Hawkins and Aisling Franciosi with Javier Botet playing bloodsucking villain Count Dracula.
Since the movie’s release, it has earned praised from horror master Stephen King, who reviewed the movie saying: “I was doubtful about ‘The Last Voyage of the Demeter’, but it’s a throat-ripping good time. It reminded me of the best of the Hammer movies from the Sixties and Seventies.”
Moviemaker Guillermo del Toro also shared how much he enjoyed the horror, adding: “I enjoyed Last Voyage of the Demeter so much: gorgeous, lavish and savage!!”

‘I want to fast forward to that part of my life!’ Love Island’s Molly Marsh wants to be a mother

OHMYGOSSIP — Molly Marsh is “so excited” at the thought of having kids.
The 21-year-old reality star is still going strong with Zach Noble, 25, after finishing in fourth place on the hit ITV dating show earlier this year and has now admitted that she is “so excited” at the thought of becoming a mother.
She told OK! Magazine: “I am absolutely 100% into having them. If I could click my fingers and fast forward to that part of my life, I absolutely would. That excites me so much. I look at my cousin with her little baby and think that stage of your life is so beautiful. I can’t wait to have kids in the future.”
However, personal trainer Zach explained that whilst he also wants to be a parent, he is “scared” at the thought because becoming a father means that the child will be the top priority for the rest o his life.
In the joint interview, he said: “I’m scared because I understand that once it happens, then that will always be my priority, this kid is my life now. As soon as they’re at an age where they know their first goal, my only energy is spent making this kid achieve.
“But I look forward to that journey in life when it comes because I’m definitely a very family orientated person. I see how my mum was and the sacrifices she made, so I know the love you have for a child is just indescribable.
“I’m raised from tough love. It’s just the way I am, man. Obviously I can show all the affection you want and sugarcoat the world, but we don’t live in a world made of candy floss and jelly.”

‘I’m getting more courageous!’ Vanessa Feltz talks dating again after messy public split

OHMYGOSSIP — Vanessa Feltz has enjoyed going dating again for the first time in 20 years.
The 61-year-old TV star endured a public breakup earlier this year when she discovered that her fiance Ben Ofoedu had been unfaithful several times throughout their relationship and after taking part in ‘Celebs Go Dating’ has admitted that she got “more courageous” with every date but will not be watching the E4 reality show when it airs on TV.
She told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz Column: “I have liked dipping my toe in the dating pool again, having not done it for 17 years. I have built up more courage with each date. But I have never watched back a date or seen any footage. I will be on holiday, I hope, when it airs, and I will be quite pleased to be out of the country.”
The broadcast legend – who is known for her appearances on ‘This Morning’ and hosts her own show on TalkTV – went on to add that despite her long career on camera, she is still able to show her “real emotions” on screen and described the journey on the set of ‘Celebs Go Dating’ as an “emotional” one.
She added: After all these years of reality TV, you’d think I would manage some kind of facade by now. When something is happening to me on TV, you can see what my real emotions are. Even if I am assuming I have hidden it, I haven’t, so it has been an emotional journey. I have broadened out a bit. One of the things that the agents have said is, ‘Don’t write people off on sight. Give them a bit of a chance.’ And they are right!”
Other stars lined up to go dating on camera in this year’s series of the reality show include former ‘Love Island’ contestants Adam Collard and Chloe Burrows as well as model Lottie Moss, influencer Spuddz and Mark-Francis Vandelli of ‘Made in Chelsea’ fame.
‘Celebs Go Dating’ airs on E4 from Sunday 20 August.

Alan Titchmarsh says ‘dogs have played such an important part’ to his whole life

OHMYGOSSIP — Alan Titchmarsh has incorporated his love for dogs into his latest TV project.
The 74-year-old presenter celebrated the lifelong love he has had for canines in the lead-up to his new Channel 5 series ‘Underdog to Super Dog’ – which will see dogs without homes prove themselves to brave with training to undertake challenges like mountain rescues – as he reflected on their “matchless” companionship.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Dogs have played such an important part in my life, both as a child in Yorkshire with a corgi/cairn and border terrier cross at my heels, to bringing up my family with three yellow Labradors. Their companionship and their resourcefulness are matchless.
“I am looking forward hugely to watching the development of the dogs in this series as they prove their worth when given the chance to shine.”
The ‘Love Your Garden’ host recently told UK lawmakers about the potential “catastrophic” impacts that rewilding could have, labelling it an “ill-considered trend” in certain situations like in domestic settings like gardens.
Alan told a House of Lords’ horticultural sector committee inquiry last month: ”Domestic gardens and well-planted parks offer an opportunity to all forms of wildlife – be they birds seeking nesting sites in hedges, berried plants that provide winter food, or shrubs that offer shelter to mammals.”
“Domestic gardens, with their greater plant diversity, offer sustenance and shelter to wildlife from March through November. Nine months of nourishment. A rewilded garden will offer nothing but straw and hay from August to March. A four-month flowering season is the norm.”
Alan called out the “misleading propaganda” that argued only indigenous growth added anything to the environment.
He said: “I find it worrying that misleading propaganda suggests only native plants are of any value to wildlife and the environment. This is at odds with my experience as the custodian of a two-acre wildflower meadow and garden.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Helen Skelton is leaving BBC Radio 5 Live “for now” to spend more time with her kids.
The 40-year-old star has opted to step down from her hosting gig on the airwaves – a position she took over from former ‘Love Island’ host Laura Whitmore exactly one year ago – to focus on being a mother to her three kids, sons Ernie, eight, Louis, six, and 20-month-old daughter Elsie.
She told her listeners: “That’s it for me on Sundays for now. Thank you for your company over the last year, I’ve loved every minute of our time together on this show…
“Thank you to all of the team, thank you to all of you. Maybe we’ll meet again soon. It’s hard to know what to say without getting emotional.”
During her final show, Helen told her co-host Steve Crossman: “I know, I don’t want to, but an eight-year-old will be happy about it.”
The former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ contestant later added: “I’m not all right about it, but you know, needs must.
“The juggle is real. An eight-year-old with a sideline needs me.”
Steve told the ‘Countryfile’ that she was “so wonderful” to work with and that she will be “massively missed”.
Helen revealed that was “no longer a couple” with the father of her kids Richie Myler, a 33-year-old rugby union player.
She wrote on Instagram: “Very sad to say that Richie and I are no longer a couple. He has left the family home. We will be doing our best to co-parent our small children.”
The station lauded the “excellent broadcaster” Helen, while saying they were working on finding a replacement for the Sunday morning slot.
They said: “Helen is an excellent broadcaster who has done a fantastic job hosting Sunday mornings.
“We respect her decision and look forward to working together with her in the future across 5 Live programming.
“As for what’s next for the Sunday mornings, we will update our listeners with some exciting news in due course.”

‘I would love to do it’: David Dastmalchian makes pitch to play Bond villain

OHMYGOSSIP — David Dastmalchian dreams of playing a James Bond villain.
The ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ star has pitched himself to 007 bosses as an actor capable of playing an enemy to push the famous spy to his limits as the franchise embarks on a new era following Daniel Craig’s exit.
In an interview with Slash Film – conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strike – David said: “It begins right now. So whoever is reading this, take it as a sign. You were meant to be reading this line at this moment as you’re thinking about the future of what you guys are doing with this franchise.
“Trust me when I say that I can bring something to an enemy of 007, whether he or she or they be played in a way that no one has ever seen Bond brought to life before, which is of course the way that you guys always do it.”
The 48-year-old star continued: “I think there’s no one to push Bond to the limits of their capabilities the way that I could, and I would love to do it. So there’s my pitch to them.
“I can’t wait for them to read this. And then I will owe you when or if I ever get that role, I guess 10 per cent.”
David stars in the new vampire film ‘The Last Voyage of the Demeter’ – based on ‘The Captain’s Log’ chapter of Bram Stoker’s ‘Dracula’ – as the first mate Wojchek and had an authentic appearance for the picture.
The ‘Oppenheimer’ actor explained: “Everyone was so collaborative on the film, and it was such an amazing team of artists from all over the world. I mean, Heike (Merker), who’s the makeup department head, had really great, strong vision for the look of these sailors.
“I had some incredible teeth that were made for me because, as you know, back then, dental hygiene was probably not tantamount. So I didn’t exactly have the shiniest set of molars.”

Barbie sequel is in development

OHMYGOSSIP — A ‘Barbie’ sequel is already in the works.
Movie bosses have started talks about a follow-up to the blockbuster starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling after the film’s extraordinary box office success.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Crew who worked on the ‘Barbie’ film have been contacted to discuss working on the follow-up.
“It is very early days, but it’s become apparent that bosses want the same crew for the sequel as they did for the first.
“Emails have been sent but firmer details have to be finalised.”
‘Barbie’ – directed by Greta Gerwig – was released in cinemas last month and tells the story of Margot’s Barbie and Ryan’s Ken as they go on a journey of ‘self-discovery’ after being expelled from Barbie Land.
The project was the brainchild of Margot, who approached toymaker Mattel for the rights in 2018, and has become the first film from a female director to take $1 billion at the box office.
Greta had recently suggested that she had “zero” plans to bring Barbie back to the big screen following the movie’s release.
The 40-year-old director told the New York Times: “At this moment, it’s [the first film is] all I’ve got. I feel like that at the end of every movie, like I’ll never have another idea and everything I’ve ever wanted to do, I did. I wouldn’t want to squash anybody else’s dream, but for me, at this moment, I’m at totally zero.”
It was reported recently that Hollywood studios are in the midst of a “stampede” to make more toy movies after Barbie’s astonishing success.
A new project based on the miniature Polly Pocket dolls – starring Lily Collins and directed by Lena Dunham – is said to have been given the green light.
A source told The Mail on Sunday newspaper: “‘Barbie’ has set a fire under Hollywood. There is a stampede to cash in on other dolls.”

Hardeep Singh Kohli arrested and charged in connection with allegations of sexual offences

OHMYGOSSIP — Hardeep Singh Kohli has been arrested and charged in connection with allegations of “non-recent” sexual offences.
The former ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ star, 54, has been released and will appear in court at a later date.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “A 54-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with allegations of non-recent sexual offences.
“He has been released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date.
“A report of the circumstances has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
Hardeep has also appeared on ‘Celebrity MasterChef’ and ‘The One Show’, on which he was a reporter.
He was suspended by the BBC for six months in 2009 amid allegations of “inappropriate behaviour” from a researcher.
Hardeep said at the time: “Nobody has accused me of sexual harassment. I recognise I overstepped the mark and have apologised unreservedly.”
A BBC spokeswoman said at the time: “Producers of ‘The One Show’ received a complaint regarding Hardeep’s behaviour towards a production colleague.
“She made no formal complaint and has acknowledged that ‘One Show’ management took the issue extremely seriously.
“He was reprimanded and immediately apologised. He agreed to take some time away from the show to reflect on his behaviour. This leave of absence has been agreed to be six months.”
In 2018, Hardeep was evicted from the ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ house after losing a head-to-head vote against psychic Sally Morgan.
After leaving the house, he said: “It’s massively emotional … I don’t know what’s been shown obviously, but for me, it’s been such an honour to be associated with such a television institution.”

Sydney Sweeney reveals reaction to Madame Web role

OHMYGOSSIP — Sydney Sweeney has confirmed she’s playing Julia Carpenter in ‘Madame Web’.
The 25-year-old actress has revealed her reaction to being cast as Julia – who becomes Spider-Woman in the comics – in Sony’s upcoming superhero movie.
In an interview conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strikes, she told Variety: “I was freaking out, of course.
“I went straight to the comic store, and I bought every comic that mentioned my character.”
The ‘Euphoria’ star is expecting ‘Madame Web’ – in which Dakota Johnson leads the way as the titular character – will reverse a box office trend as superhero films appear to be slowing down.
She teased: “I think it’s different from what people expect a superhero movie to be. Quote that! That’s a quote, because the tabloids will pick up everything else we talk about.”
Although she’s keeping tightlipped and refused to give more details, she gave “a coy yes” when asked if she hopes Julia will have a bigger role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
However, she simply smiled and shrugged when it came to the topic of a potential stand-alone ‘Spider-Woman’ movie.
‘Madame Web’ also stars Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, Emma Roberts, Tahar Rahim, Mike Epps, Zosia Mamet and Adam Scott, although their roles are yet to be revealed.
Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama have written the screenplay, while S.J. Clarkson – who has previously worked on the likes of ‘Toast’, ‘Dexter’, ‘Jessica Jones’ and ‘Succession’ – is directing.
Meanwhile, Johnson previously explained how she wanted to bring “heart” to the picture.
In an interview with Collider, she said: “I guess having experience on all tiers of films I can bring maybe some stuff from the little movies to the big movies that I want to see in them, you know? I really love seeing large-scale films that still have heart in them.”
The film is set to be released on February 16, 2024.

‘I want to make original movies’ David Harbour to concentrate on films when Stranger Things wraps

OHMYGOSSIP — David Harbour wants to concentrate on making original movies when ‘Stranger Things’ ends, because he doesn’t want people shouting “Hopper” at him “every minutes for the rest of his life”.
The 48-year-old star has become best known for playing police chief Jim Hopper in the Netflix hit, but when he wraps on the series he is planning to concentrate on making films, because he doesn’t want to just be known for one role.
Speaking about playing a dark version of Santa Claus in 2022 movie ‘Violent Night’, he told Insider: “I’ve been on Netflix, but this was a small original movie that’s going to a cinema.
“A whole new world opened up for me with that. I like this playing field. I want to make original movies that go to the movie theaters.
“It’s a funny position I’m in, which I never thought I would be in.
“The first year of ‘Stranger Things,’ I remember having a discussion with a publicist and her saying, ‘Maybe you don’t want to be associated with the show so much,’ and I was like, ‘Why? I love this show. I love the character.’
“And I do love the show. And I do love the character. But I don’t want to be just that character. I don’t want to be just that guy.”
Harbour compares his situation to when George Clooney first became known in the industry for his time in medical drama ‘ER’.
He added: “I think about George Clooney leaving ‘ER.’ Now we just see him as George Clooney, but there was a time when it was, ‘The guy from ‘ER’ is doing a movie with Nicole Kidman.’
“I’m trying to navigate some of that, and it’s tricky because you don’t want to s*** on the people that love you for this thing that you did that you also love.
“But at the same time, you kind of want to leave the nest. I got more in me. I got different stuff in me, and I want you guys to see that. I don’t want people yelling ‘Hopper’ on the street every five minutes the rest of my life.”
Harbour recently admitted he would “love” to play Santa Claus again in ‘Violent Night 2′.
Speaking to Collider – in an interview conducted before the subsequent SAG-AFTRA strike – Harbour said: “Before the writers’ strike there was, you know, maybe something that came in.
“We’ll have to see where it fits if they can resolve all these labour issues.
“If the studios would please go to the table and end these labour issues, we could shoot all kinds of things I’d love to give to the people! But yes, we’re in process.”
