‘I have to speak Northern’ Sarah Ferguson lands Coronation Street cameo

OHMYGOSSIP — Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, is confident she has landed a cameo in ‘Coronation Street’, for which she will have to “speak Northern”.
The 64-year-old royal – who once had a cameo on US sitcom ‘Friends’ – visited the ITV soap’s set in Media City, Salford Quays on Wednesday (09.10.24), where she pulled a pint in the iconic Rovers Return pub.
Speaking of her day on the cobbles, she said on ‘This Morning’: “I think I’ve persuaded the director to give me a cameo part.
“I’m going to practice my pint pulling, and I’m going to have hotpot.
“And, apparently, what else I have to do is speak Northern.
“I’m very sorry to all Northerners watching, but I have to say, ‘Mug.’ ”
Sarah was shown around by ‘Corrie’ legend Sally Dynevor – who has played Sally Metcalfe in the show since 1986 – and beforehand they toured the Prevent Breast Cancer charity headquarters in nearby Wythenshawe, Manchester.
Both the duchess – who is the ex-wife of Prince Andrew – and Sally are patrons of the Prevent Breast Cancer charity.
Sarah was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, and she underwent a mastectomy.
Sally was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009, at the same time she was filming a storyline about her character being diagnosed with the disease.
While the duchess is keen for a cobbles cameo, she has previously turned down offers to compete on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ “hundreds of times”.
She told Platinum Magazine: “I’ve asked my agent to get me on ‘Bridgerton’! The set designs are incredible!
“I could be a long-lost friend for Penelope (Featherington – played by Nicola Coughlan.) I just have to be on Bridgerton!
“I’ve been asked to go on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ hundreds of times, and the answer is always no. I’m sure it’s lovely for lots of people but not for me!”

Strictly Come Dancing introduces brand-new themed week

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ will celebrate 20 iconic years by introducing a new Icons Week next month.
The BBC Latin and ballroom show is known for going all out for its special themed weeks, such as Movie Week, which aired last time out, Blackpool Week and Musicals Week, and now Icons Week will take place on Saturday November 2nd.
It will see the remaining celebrities and their pro partners take to the dance floor to honour music icons.
In Icons Week, the pairings will dance to songs from their favourite music heroes, and the dances and songs, as well as the icons, are to be revealed in due course.
As well as the celebrities and their pros getting into the spirit, on the Sunday night results show, which will air on November 3, the professional dancers will perform a Beyoncé medley.
Pro dancer Johannes Radebe will channel his inner Sasha Fierce as the protagonist in the routine.
The BBC has told fans to “expect bejewelled cowboy hats, power ballad moves and sparkling sass”.
Toyah Willcox became the second celebrity to be voted off ‘Strictly’, after she and her pro partner Neil Jones lost out in the Movie Week dance-off.
Olympian Tom Dean was the first star of the series to be voted off.
But one star who may not make it to Icons Week, or even this weekend, is Nick Knowles.
The ‘DIY SOS’ host has been plagued by injuries in the early weeks of the show, including a knee issue he picked up in rehearsals last week.

Jeff Goldblum rejects calls for Jurassic Park return

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeff Goldblum has dismissed the idea of returning to the ‘Jurassic Park’ franchise.
The 71-year-old actor played Dr. Ian Malcolm in the first two instalments of the series, as well as the legacy sequels ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ and ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’, though has now admitted his time in the franchise is over.
He told Total Film: “I think Ian Malcolm may have ridden off into the sunset. Maybe.”
Even though the ‘Independence Day’ actor thinks he has parted ways with the series for good, he’s excited to see the next entry in the franchise, ‘Jurassic World: Rebirth’, which features Scarlett Johansson and his ‘Wicked’ co-star Jonathan Bailey.
Goldblum added: “This next one – my friend Scarlett Johansson and my new friend Jonathan Bailey from ‘Wicked’, I think, are taking up the reins. And I can’t wait to see what they do. I think that’s a good idea.”
The upcoming film – which is being helmed by ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ director Gareth Edwards and is due to hit cinemas in July 2025 – is set five years after the events of ‘Dominion’, and will follow a team of scientists who race to extract DNA samples from three dinosaurs in an effort to find a groundbreaking medical breakthrough.
Previously, Johansson admitted she had been fighting for a role in the ‘Jurassic Park’ franchise for 15 years.
During an appearance on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’, the 39-year-old actress told the host: “I have been trying to get in the franchise for like 15 years, like, really to do anything at all. I mean, I would happily die immediately.”
The ‘Avengers: Endgame’ star added she has been an “enormous” fan of the series ever since she was a youngster and said the experience of watching the original film in 1993 was “life-changing and mind-blowing”.
Speaking to ComicBook.com she said: “I am an enormous ‘Jurassic Park’ fan.
“It is one of the first movies I remember seeing in theatres. I remember it so vividly. It was life-changing and mind-blowing. I cannot express how excited I am.”

Sandra Bullock doesn’t think Hollywood is ‘brave enough’ to make Speed 3

OHMYGOSSIP — Sandra Bullock doesn’t think the movie industry is “brave enough” to make a third ‘Speed’ film.
The 60-year-old actress starred opposite Keanu Reeves in the 1994 action flick – as well as returning with Jason Patric for its derided sequel ‘Speed 2: Cruise Control’ – though has now admitted the chances of director Jan de Bont being given the opportunity to helm another bombastic instalment in the series are slim-to-none.
Appearing alongside Reeves and de Bont at a Q+A session during a 30th-anniversary screening of the movie, Bullock said: “The geriatric version. It won’t be fast.
“All these things happened because the crazy man [de Bont] in the greenish jacket over there. He’s so soft and gentle today and I’m like, ‘That’s not the man I remember.’ But he’s the man who put the energy and the idea together, knew what the audience wanted and demanded it from everyone and everyone stepped up to play it.
“So what would that movie be that would make Jan’s brain and brilliance happy? It would require a lot from everybody.
“I don’t know if we’re in an industry anymore that’s willing to tolerate it and be brave enough to do it.
“Maybe I could be wrong … If he can’t make [what he has in his mind] for the audience, then he’s failed it felt like. I don’t know what we could do that would be good enough for the audience.”
While ‘The Proposal’ star doubts a third ‘Speed’ movie will ever happen, Reeves previously revealed he was hoping to return to the franchise in the future.
During an appearance on the ’50 MPH’ podcast, the ‘John Wick’ actor said: “I mean, you know – we’d freakin’ knock it out of the park.”
‘The Matrix’ icon added there was a “siren call” attracting him to another ‘Speed’ flick, and emphasised that he was desperate to work with Bullock again after they last shared the screen in 2006 for the romance picture ‘The Lake House’.

David Jason to attend Only Fools And Horses The Musical but hasn’t decided on a disguise yet

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir David Jason has hinted he is to finally see the ‘Only Fools And Horses: The Musical’ when the show embarks on a new London run.
The 84-year-old actor is well known for playing Del Boy Trotter in the iconic BBC sitcom, which the musical is based on.
Vinnie Jones is to appear as gangster Danny Driscoll in 28 shows at London’s Hammersmith Eventim Apollo from December 17, and David may well be in the audience on one of those occasions.
Speaking on ‘This Morning’ to co-hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley, the legendary actor said: “I understand that I’m probably going to see the new one [‘Only Fools And Horses: The Musical’].”
Asked if he is going to go in disguise to avoid “causing chaos” with fans excited to see the real Del there, he said: “The answer to that is I don’t know yet.”
David admitted he was offered the chance to attend the opening night of the musical when it first opened in 2019, but he turned down the opportunity to ensure fans weren’t distracted by him during the production.
He said: “When it first opened in the West End I was invited to the first night and I thought about it and thought about it.
“I thought, ‘I can’t really go,’ because the huge amount of crowds that if they knew I was there and I was the original character, nobody would be looking at the stage.
“They would say, ‘Can I have a selfie? Can I have an autograph?'”
Ben suggested if David does see the new run of the musical, he could appear in a Phantom of the Opera-style way at the end of the production and wave at the crowd.
David said: “I like it. That’s a good idea – I’d never thought of that.
“Wait for the curtain to go up, then come in at the back in the box. Yes.”
David also talked about how important it is to have a good team around you in the entertainment industry, after hearing of some “vulgar”, “selfish and rude” fame-hungry individuals.
He added: “I do hear stories – no names – of certain members of our entertainment industry, who are very selfish and rude.
“Rather to the point of being vulgar.
“In other words, they don’t respect the team.
“They say, ‘Oh, it’s me. I’m famous. I’ll have my close-up here.’ ”

Joker: Folie à Deux ‘didn’t land with audiences’, admits Warner Bros executive

OHMYGOSSIP — Warner Bros. Pictures President of Domestic Distribution Jeff Goldstein has admitted ‘Joker: Follie a Deux’ “didn’t land” well with audiences.
The DC Comics thriller was only able to pull in $114.8 million globally in its opening weekend at the box office – around $130 million less than its predecessor ‘Joker’ brought in when it debuted in 2019 – and now the studio chief has admitted he is disappointed with the poor performance of Todd Phillips’ sequel.
Speaking to The Wall Street Journal newspaper, Goldstein said: “The movie didn’t land with audiences the way we wanted it to.”
The film had a production budget of around $200 million – roughly three times what the original cost – plus an additional fund for marketing and advertising.
‘Joker: Follie a Deux’ – which stars Joaquin Phoenix as the titular Joker and Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn – also didn’t impress critics or audiences, with the picture currently sitting at an average score of 32 per cent on the film reviewing website Rotten Tomatoes.
The movie follows Phoenix’s Joker, who is the mentally ill criminal Arthur Fleck, as he falls madly in love with Arkham Asylum music therapist as Harleen ‘Lee’ Quinzel.
Goldstein suggested audiences weren’t able to connect with Gaga’s interpretation of the character or director Phillips’ “deeper dive into mental illness”.
Even though the movie underwhelmed many, Phillips had previously revealed he had no plans to make a third instalment in the series.
When The Hollywood Reporter asked the filmmaker if he was intending to make a follow-up flick, he said: “It’s not really where this movie is headed for me.
“I feel like my time in the DC Universe was these two films.”
Phillips had also insisted he was satisfied with his two ‘Joker’ pictures, and felt like he and the team had “said what [they] wanted to in this world”.
As well ruling out a third movie, the director seemingly dismissed the idea of Lady Gaga getting a standalone Harley Quinn film.
Speaking to Variety, he said: “For me, I’ve always thought that these two movies kind of exist as their own thing.
“And, no. I know you’re trying to get the next thing, but I don’t want to go into that.”

Gavin and Stacey wraps filming on final ever episode

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Gavin and Stacey’ has wrapped filming on its final ever episode.
The beloved sitcom is returning this Christmas for one last episode – its first since 2019’s festive special – and the cast and crew have finished shooting the finale.
Alongside a picture showing a clapperboard for scene 80, the BBC wrote: “And that’s a wrap… for the last time ever.
“See you on Christmas Day! #GavinAndStacey”
The show was created by James Corden and Ruth Jones, who co-wrote the series and also star as Smithy and Nessa.
They reunited with Joanna Page (Stacey), Mathew Horne (Gavin) and more for the upcoming special, but bosses have been extra careful lately after a photo of Corden holding his script on location at a department store accidentally revealed a big plot point.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: “Everyone is excited for the return of Gavin, Stacey, Smithy and the gang so naturally interest is at an all-time high.
“Every day fans are flocking to the filming sites in Cardiff and Barry Island to see the cast filming and take their own photos and selfies.
“It’s a challenge trying to keep key storylines under wraps but the cast have been reminded to be on alert.”
The cast and crew were all told to keep their scripts cloely under wraps.
Meanwhile, ‘Love, Actually’ star Joanna recently admitted that having fans flock to the set during filming has made her “feel like a pop star”.
Speaking to ‘EastEnders’ star Natalie Cassidy, 41, on their ‘Off The Telly’ podcast, the 47-year-old actress said: “It’s mad. You pull up in the car and get out and the crowd just go ‘Wayyy’, and you genuinely feel like a pop star or something.
“So I’m enjoying myself for now, because I know that when it finishes I’ll be going home to my four children, who’ll be like, ‘Mummy mummy can I have my tea, mummy I want this I want that,’ so I’m enjoying being fussed over, because it’s not going to last for long.”

Miranda Hart reveals she is married!

OHMYGOSSIP — Miranda Hart is married.
The 51-year-old comedienne has remained coy about her private life during her years in showbiz but has now revealed that she met a mystery man just over two years ago and they have now tied the knot, almost a decade after she gave her on-screen alter ego on her sitcom a husband in the form of Tom Ellis.
Speaking on BBC’s ‘The One Show’, she said: “I can now swap this ring to the other side and say…someone put a ring on it! I got married at 51, it’s so lovely. I’d written Gary for on-screen Miranda and it wasn’t until I was 49 that I met my person. I’m not gonna reveal how we met, because there’s a little bit a twist. “He’s not called Gary, nor is it Tom Ellis. But he’s my best friend and I’m just thrilled to be a young bride at 51!”
Miranda reveals in her new book ‘I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest With You’ that she has battled struggle with chronic fatigue after being diagnosed with Lyme disease, and believes that there is “always hope” if she has managed to find love in the end.
She said: “The fact that I met someone, during a pandemic, with a chronic illness…the fact that i could meet somebody, it’s not a romcom story, but it’s hope. There is always hope.”
The TV star shot to fame when she wrote and starred in her own semi-biographical sitcom from 2009 until 2013 alongside ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ contestant Sarah Hadland, and even though the finale aired as a festive special in 2015, she has teased that she is “really keen” to get back to the studio in one form or another.
She said: “I’m really keen to get back to some silliness now. I miss the studio floor, I miss laughter. I don’t have any ideas yet but I miss fooling around.”

Matt Damon ‘in talks’ for next Christopher Nolan film

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Damon is reportedly in talks for Christopher Nolan’s new film.
The 54-year-old director is starting to make plans for his next movie – the follow-up to Oscar winner ‘Oppenheimer’ – and he could be reunited with a familiar face for the as-yet-untitled project.
As reported by Deadline, Nolan is returning to Universal for the film with plans for an Imax release in July 2026.
It’s believed Damon is in line to star in the movie, which would be the third time the pair have collaborated together on the big screen.
As well as last year’s ‘Oppenheimer’, the 54-year-old actor also appeared in 2014’s ‘Interstellar’.
This means he’ll join Christian Bale and Cillian Murphy as actors to have teamed with Nolan on at least three occasions.
Plot details and official casting for the new film are being kept under wraps.
Nolan previously explained how he has constantly had to adapt as a director, and he’s not actually made any of the ideas he had growing up.
In an interview with Empire magazine, Nolan said: “As a young man, I had a list of, however many I’d worked out, 12 or 13 films… I had a lot of ideas and a lot of very specific things that I was going to do. And I look back and I haven’t done any of them; they all changed.
“When you plan ahead too far in the movie business, you’re not taking into account the shifting sands of culture under your feet… (Cinema) evolves. And part of your job as a filmmaker is to be open to being part of that evolution.”
However, Nolan insists that he is grateful to have been able to change his plans.
The filmmaker said: “That’s been tremendous fun. It would have been very boring to have done things exactly the way I thought I was going to do them.”

The 34-year-old actor stars alongside ‘Jurassic Park’ star Laura , 57, in the new romance film that follows a newly single novelist who finds love with a younger man and insisted that there was a “connection” between the pair from the start.
He told ScreenRant: “No tricks on this one. We had a connection from the moment we met and sat down. I came onto this project because Laura was a part of it already; the chance to work with Laura was a huge opportunity for me, and I was so excited by that. But coming into it, I’d heard great things about her.”
The ‘Hunger Games’ star also noted when the pair first met on set it “oddly” felt as if they had known each other for longer than they had and that the whole thing was a “gift” for them both because of the instant “trust” they developed
He said: “When we sat down it oddly felt like we’d known each other for a lot longer, and there was this instant trust bond that just evolved throughout shooting. We never really had to find that relationship; we had this connection and this trust, and it was just easy. It was really fun to be able to experience all the things that we did throughout this shoot.
“What a gift to be able to work with someone that you have that connection with, and not feel like you need to sit down and discuss a bunch of things in order to get to that place. It was just this natural ease between both of us from the moment we sat down together.
‘Lonely Planet’ streams on Netflix from October 11.

OHMYGOSSIP — Helen Flanagan was determined to be single for a year when she met her boyfriend.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ actress caused a stir on ‘Celebs Go Dating’ when she revealed she had fallen for Robbie Talbot, who she met away from the E4 show before filming got underway when she was planning a relationship detox.
She told OK! magazine: “When I first met Robbie, I wasn’t supposed to be seeing anyone.
“I thought, ‘I’ve never really been single, so I’m gonna work on being single this year and try and be on my own.’ And then I met him!'”
The 34-year-old star met Robbie after he saw her walking into a local restaurant, and immediately knew who she was from her television career.
However, she was impressed that he “had the balls” to talk to her, instead of being intimidated.
She said: “I’ve never met anyone like him. He’s not only a lovely man, but he’s really, really funny.
“And he had the balls to chat me up! Usually I don’t get that, but he has so much confidence. And he really takes care of me.”
Robbie explained that they “weren’t serious” at the time she signed up for the show, they made sure to communicate “the whole way through”, while he saw it as one of her acting roles.
Helen recalled: “We met at the end of February and then I signed my contract for the show in March or April. We were dating, but it was early days and I wanted to do the show.
“I told Robbie I was doing it and he said it was fine. But then things got really intense between us.
“And in the midst of filming I realised I was really falling for him. And that’s when it became tough to do. But I signed the contract. I found the whole situation incredibly difficult.”
Thankfully, Helen revealed it wasn’t a “big problem” on the show, even with the backlash from fans over the shocking news.
She recalled: “We had a laugh bringing Robbie on. There wasn’t really a big problem, despite what people said. Anna Williamson loved Robbie.
“I think the whole thing turned out to be really funny. Watching Robbie being dragged on to a show like that… it’s so different to his everyday life.
“He’s not into photoshoots or reality TV.”

Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried to play lead roles in The Housemaid

OHMYGOSSIP — Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried have been cast in ‘The Housemaid’.
The pair have agreed to star in the thriller that Paul Feig is directing for Lionsgate.
The picture is based on the best-selling novel by Freida McFadden with the screenplay adapted by Rebecca Sonnenshine.
Sydney and Amanda will both serve as executive producers with Feig and Laura Fischer also producing.
In the movie, Sweeney will play Millie – a struggling woman who is thankful to have a fresh start as a housemaid to wealthy couple Nina (Seyfried) and Andrew. But she soon learns that the family’s secrets are a lot more dangerous than her own.
Adam Fogelson, chair of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, said: “I’m thrilled to have ‘The Housemaid’ join our upcoming slate.
“A great filmmaker and a great cast with a great script from a great book is a terrific place to start. My prior work experiences with Paul and Amanda have been nothing short of spectacular, and Sydney is as talented and compelling as can be.”
Co-president Erin Westerman added: “Part of the fun of the book was imagining the cast while we read it, and Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried are perfect for Millie and Nina – they’re both mysterious, nuanced, and incredibly skilled at becoming characters who don’t reveal everything right away.
“We’re thrilled to team them with Paul Feig, who we worked with on ‘A Simple Favor’ and its upcoming sequel and has a proven track record of developing stories with dynamic female leads.”
Sydney is also due to play trailblazing boxer Christy Martin – described as the “female Rocky” by producers – in a biopic and spoke of her excitement at bringing her “powerful” story to the big screen.
The 27-year-old actress said: “Christy Martin not only legitimised female boxing, she overcame gender stereotypes, and fought through emotional, physical, and financial abuse.
“I’m passionate about the fighting world, Christy’s story shines a light on her incredible rise to the top while showing the struggles of fame behind the curtains.
“I feel compelled to tell a story about a woman who faced so much adversity and didn’t allow it to defeat her. It’s powerful, and emotional.”
