‘It was boring!’ Gladiators legend Diane Youdale proposed to wife in her kitchen

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Gladiators’ legend Diane Youdale proposed to her wife in her kitchen after four months together.
The 53-year-old star – who was known as Jet on the popular 90s show – admitted she and Zoe Gilbert, 48, both had a glass of wine when she popped the question, and they have since tied the knot.
In a joint interview on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’, Diane said: “I asked four months in. It was boring – we were in the kitchen with a glass of wine. I just said shall we do this? I think if you know you know.”
Zoe told how she first approached Diane in a Tesco car park because she thought the TV star was “the most beautiful woman I’d seen”.
She said: “Well, in short I had seen her in the car park and thought she was the most beautiful woman I’d seen, then we exchanged names.”
But Zoe didn’t realise at the time that Diane was Jet from ‘Gladiators’.
She said: “The first three times I didn’t even know who she was. It didn’t click.
“I got home and I was like, ‘Where have I seen this person from?’ I felt sure I’d seen her on … social media … my God, it’s Jet!”
Zoe admitted she used to fancy Jet when she watched the show in the 90s.
She said: “I did have a crush on you, like everybody else.”
Last month, Diane confirmed she and Zoe got married in secret.
She told Closer magazine: “We’re married! We kept it very, very quiet. Literally nine people on the planet knew.
“When you’re in the public eye – whether it was like me and it was literally last millennium, or in this day and age on social media – things just run away with you.
“I’m in my 50s now and we’re both very private people and we thought, ‘You know, let’s just keep this thing quiet.’
“We’ve not let even our nearest and dearest know because we wanted to keep it really tiny.”

Gemma Whelan ‘moved’ by The Tower crew for making the set breastfeeding friendly

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Whelan was “moved” by the crew on ‘The Tower’ for adhering to her needs as a breastfeeding mother on the set.
The ex ‘Game of Thrones’ star – who has two-year-old son Freddie with her husband Gerry Howell – has enthused about the “positive experience” she had making the follow-up season to the ITVX crime drama.
The 42-year-old actress is quoted by OK! Magazine as saying: “I was a bit moved by how kind they were to me as a working mother – it is an extra thing to deal with having a breastfeeding mother on set. Obviously, you should be as welcome as you are in every other workplace, but it requires more thought.
“Also, the travelling band is big now, because my husband and daughter are also up here for filming, so, we’ve made it into a summer holiday experience. It’s actually nice to be at work knowing that everyone’s safe and I’m not far from them. It’s been a really positive experience.”
Gemma – who plays DS Sarah Collins in the Kate London-created police series – told how the upcoming installment of episodes deals with what the station thought was a “essentially a cold case”, but was actually “covered up” and her colleague Lizzie Adams, played by Tahirah Sharif, 30, was involved.
She said: “There’s a case that she’s heard about, and she’s ready to start working on it.
“But she’s then given what is essentially a cold case, with a very loose new lead. But she rises to the challenge. She thinks outside the box and fairly quickly develops a vital new lead.
“Sarah knows a crime was covered up and Lizzie was a part of that. But at the same time, she understands why Lizzie acted as she did. Despite herself, Sarah’s impressed that Lizzie stayed with the police. Sarah gives her a chance, but she doesn’t give her an easy ride.”

Holly Willoughby crowned ‘the hottest woman on the box’

OHMYGOSSIP — Holly Willoughby has been crowned “the hottest woman on the box”.
The ‘This Morning’ presenter, 42, topped a list of the TV ladies who were the most searched on Google with the terms “hot”, “sexy” and “calendar” – which included ‘Game of Thrones’ star Emilia Clarke, 36, and model sisters Kendall Jenner, 27, and Kylie Jenner, 26 – according to new research carried out by Slingo.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Holly is still the hottest woman on the box – and these results prove it.
“She has had her popularity tested over the past year because of claims she queue-jumped to see the Queen lying in state and because of her strained relationship with Phil.
“But it seems she’s still the public’s favourite when it comes to who they fancy.”
Holly overcame competition from the likes of former ‘Coronation Street’ star Kym Marsh, 47, and Holly’s ‘This Morning’ colleague Alison Hammond, 48, was third.
Former ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ star Helen Flanagan, 33, and ‘Killing Eve’ Jodie Comer, 30, also made the top 10.
What’s more, in the male equivalent, former ‘Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps’ star Will Mellor, 47, made his first appearance on the ranking – finishing second to ‘Superman’ star Henry Cavill, 40, and beating off competition from ‘Venom’ star Tom Hardy, 45, and ‘Happy Valley’ actor James Norton, 38 – in the aftermath of his stint on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The source said: “Will is on the list for the first time and is clearly a favourite with the ladies.
“His turn on ‘Strictly’ has done wonders for his popularity, especially as he beat hunks like Tom at number three and James at number four.
“It is definitely something for Will to brag about.”

Brenda Edwards’ ex-husband signed her up for The X Factor

OHMYGOSSIP — Brenda Edwards’ ex-husband signed her up for ‘The X Factor’.
The 54-year-old star has carved out a career in West End musicals since finishing in fourth place in the second series of the talent series in 2005, but explained she had been struggling to make it and it was her then-husband Patrick who helped to land her what became her successful shot at fame.
Speaking on the ‘White Wine Question Time’ podcast, she told Kate Thornton: “I was trying but that’s the thing. I was trying, but unsuccessfully. I knew I wanted to sing, that’s the whole thing of it really. I knew I wanted to sing.
“It was my ex-husband who entered me for it in the first place. It wasn’t me!
“He said to the researchers ‘Oh, my wife thinks she’s a bit of a bird. Can she get in the queue?’ Yeah, he had, well, he’s still got a very funny sense of humour. But yeah, ‘My wife’s a bit of a bird. She thinks she can sing, can she audition?’ So yeah, the rest was history. But I’ve always sung as long as I can remember and I’ve always enjoyed singing.”
Brenda – who is also now known for regularly appearing as a panellist on ITV’s ‘Loose Women’ and is currently starring as Killer Queen in ‘We Will Rock You’ at the London Coliseum – also revealed she had to go back to her old job as an accounts payable manager during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic out of necessity.
She said: “I’m still Brenda from accounts! When I’m not singing and I need some money, and I haven’t got any work in. I went back to accounts in lockdown. I went back because there was no work on the theatre side so you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do.”

Gemma Atkinson hits back at follower who criticised her parenting

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Atkinson has hit back at a follower who questioned her parenting skills.
The 38-year-old actress – who has four-year-old daughter Mia with ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional Gorka Marquez – revealed she and her little one had been watching CrossFit together, but a follower had warned her she could end up “body conscious” by seeing such a high-intensity workout show, and suggested she should be watching children’s television instead.
In response, Gemma wrote on Instagram: “I received this message about Mia loving CrossFit. The ‘should be watching kids programs’ baffled me a little. One of our friends is one of the best CrossFit athletes in the world and whenever she’s been to stay with us, Mia has looked up to her in awe of her physical strength and capabilities in regards to gymnastics etc.
“We also go for ice creams and have pizza every weekend and pic n mix at the cinemas. Fab lollies after tea and pancakes on Sundays.” (sic)
The former ‘Hollyoaks’ star went on to add that she has the “perfect balance” with her daughter, and insisted she “chooses” to watch the CrossFit games herself, as well a host of teatime programmes not traditionally aimed at children.
She added: “We have (in my opinion) the perfect balance. I’m personally very happy that Mia loves sports and that she has strong role models and she CHOOSES to watch the games. I’m sick of watching it tbh. When it’s not CrossFit she loves ‘The Yorkshire Vet’ or ‘Come Dine With Me’. Genuinely! So no, I’m not afraid it’ll cause her image problems. I’m pleased it will give her confidence, great social skills and a zest for life. (sic)”

‘If I can help just one person the story is worth it’ Liam Fox opens up about shock Emmerdale exit

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Fox hopes his shock ‘Emmerdale’ exit will help viewers in real life.
The 53-year-old actor bowed out of his long-running role as Dan Spencer on the ITV1 soap opera in scenes aired on Thursday (17.08.23) night when his character was sentenced to eight years behind bars for accidentally killing daughter Amelia’s cyberstalker Lloyd with a single punch.
Now, Liam hopes the storyline will teach viewers how just one swipe can have “catastrophic ” consequences.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Millions watch Emmerdale and I hope if it makes one person watching stop and change their mind about how one punch can lead to catastrophic results, then this story is worth it for that alone.
“I know the sentence will come as a shock to fans but it’s important to get it right, especially as there are campaigns ongoing for people who commit manslaughter to get a longer sentence.”
The soap star – who is married to actress Joanna Hudson, and has son Ben with ex-wife Nicole Barber-Lane – went on to add that if the same tragic situation had befallen himself in real life, he would want the perpetrator to “pay” for their actions.
He added: “If someone killed my child or wife then I would want them to pay for it too.
“I’ve loved playing Dan because he is a likeable character. He wants to do the right thing but this story is one where he’s done everything against what Dan stands for.
“Whilst this story is bittersweet as it means I am leaving the soap, I have also had a brilliant time filming and I have even lost a stone in the process.”

In July, Ncuti said his Doctor “dresses like [a] s***”.
He told Rolling Stone UK: “The day Russell [T. Davies, showrunner] invited me to meet everybody, they asked me what sort of costume I wanted. I showed them this Ralph Lauren collection that was in partnership with Historically Black Colleges in America.
“I love those pieces, they’re so preppy and so Black. But then they asked what else, because they’d been thinking about lots of outfits, almost a different one each week. Which is new! I love it.
“The Doctor has travelled all of time and space; they’re going to have a sick wardrobe…
“I love Jon Pertwee, the Third Doctor’s, outfits. Lovely velvet jackets and frilly shirts. I feel a connection to him, our Doctors are the only two who dress like s****.
“The hair and make-up department have been incredible. Claire Williams and my own makeup artist, Bella, who is an old friend, worked so well together in creating my looks.”

Gran Turismo star Orlando Bloom hails ‘dedication’ of racers

OHMYGOSSIP — Orlando Bloom relished exploring the gritty side of the racing world in ‘Gran Turismo’.
The 46-year-old actor plays Nissan marketing executive Danny Moore in the new movie based on the racing video game series of the same name and was impressed with the “dedication” that goes into the sport.
Orlando told HeyUGuys.com: “One of the things that surprised me during the making of the movie is there’s so much glamour in what you see of the racing world.
“But actually, what goes into it, the dedication, the focus, the excellence for all of the team members and not just the drivers. That’s something that we explore in the movie.
“It is a very passionate movie, it is a very fast-paced action movie but at its core is a beautiful heartfelt story and a true story at that, which is what I think will keep people coming back for more.”
The picture tells the story of ‘Gran Turismo’ player Jann Mardenborough (Archie Madekwe) – who was rewarded for his triumph in the GT Academy competition with the opportunity to compete for Nissan in real racing events – and Archie was grateful to tap into his alter ego’s knowledge during the making of the movie.
The 28-year-old star said: “When you’re playing somebody it’s just the most unbelievable tool to have because if there’s any questions I had, he was there and I didn’t have to imagine anything. He had the answers for everything.
“On top of that, he did all of my stunt driving so any exterior shot you see in the film is Jann driving.
“I think he was as amazed that the film was being made as we were blessed to be in it.”

James Gunn: ‘I was never making a young Superman movie’

OHMYGOSSIP — James Gunn is not making a “young Superman movie”.
Although the writer and director – who is also DC Studios’ co-chief – has replaced Henry Cavill, 40, as Superman with David Corenswet, 30, for ‘Superman: Legacy’, he insisted that the film will not focus on a young Superman.
When asked by a fan on Threads if the movie is set in the past, he wrote: “I was never making a ‘young Superman’ movie, just a Superman movie!”
Fans have been confused after Gunn wrote on Twitter in December: “In the initial stages, our story will be focusing on an earlier part of Superman’s life, so the character will not be played by Henry Cavill.”
‘Superman: Legacy’ will begin filming next year and is expected to be released in 2025, with Gunn previously sharing how invested he was in the project.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “I completely relate to Superman because he’s everything I am. He’s somebody who is an outsider who feels like an alien, but also the ultimate insider, because he’s f****** Superman. And that’s kind of like what I feel like.”
However, he admitted taking on a beloved character is difficult.
He said: “It’s easier to take a character nobody knows, like the Guardians, or Peacemaker, and then do whatever you want with them. People in every single country in the world know the story of Superman.
“How can I make it different from the Superman movies that have been made so far, but also have it respect all the Superman movies that have been made so far? So it just took me some time to try to figure it out.”

Roman Kemp had to improve style for BBC quiz show

OHMYGOSSIP — Roman Kemp says he has had to improve his style for the BBC.
The 30-year-old Capital FM Breakfast Show presenter will co-host BBC One quiz show ‘The Finish Line’, alongside former ‘Blue Peter’ presenter Sarah Greene from Monday (21.08.23) and Roman admitted his usual style isn’t quite right for the BBC.
He told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Even though I do quizzes every day on the radio, it is intimidating and certainly a skill to do this show — it’s just one I had to learn.
“My relationship with Sarah isn’t serious, we’re pretty cheeky on set.
“The only serious thing is that I had to wear more reserved clothing but that’s just BBC clothing.
“I can’t go on there looking how I look on ‘Gogglebox’.”
Roman – whose parents are Martin and Shirlie Kemp – has also presented the documentary ‘Boot Dreams’ which starts on BBC Three and iPlayer on Sunday (20.08.23) but the DJ says there is more to life than work.
He explained: “Having parents who have been through the industry and a godfather who’s been through the industry in the way that George Michael did, you realise the thing everyone’s chasing isn’t actually that great.
“Yes, money is fantastic but other than that, it’s just a bit boring.
“My big worry is I zoom out at the end of my career and I go, ‘My god, I spent my whole time just trying to get people to like me’.
“I don’t perceive life as walking down red carpets. It’s about having a family and raising kids that are nice people in the world.”

Sarah Greene believes late husband would be proud of her TV return

OHMYGOSSIP — Sarah Greene believes her late husband would be proud of her TV return.
The 65-year-old presenter – who hosted ‘Blue Peter’ and ‘Saturday Superstore’, was married to BBC star Mike Smith from 1989 and took time out from her career following his death aged 59 in 2014 after complications from heart surgery.

Saying that Mike would be “proud”, she added that filming in Belfast, where he grew up, helped her to feel closer to him.
She said: “I had a few little taps on the shoulder from him.”
Sarah has enjoyed working with Roman, and revealed she knows his parents Martin and Shirlie Kemp.
She said: “Roman didn’t know me. But I knew him. Or I feel I have, because of his mum and dad. I was on the show where they met, where George Michael introduced Shirlie to Martin. We had Duran Duran, Culture Club, Wham and Spandau. George later became Roman’s godfather. We were all in the same orbit.”
