Paddy McGuinness replaces Gregg Wallace as Inside The Factory host

OHMYGOSSIP — Paddy McGuinness is replacing Gregg Wallace on ‘Inside The Factory’.
The ‘Question of Sport’ host will join co-host Cherry Healey and historian Ruth Goodman on the BBC series – which sees them snoop inside Britain’s biggest factories – next year after Gregg announced he was stepping down from the role after eight years to be there for his autistic son Sid.
Former ‘Take Me Out’ host Paddy, 50, said: “One of my first jobs was in a factory so I’ve come full circle. I’m fascinated by the machinery and the people who make it all tick. Hair nets aside, I can’t wait to get cracking!”
Gregg announced back in March that he was leaving the presenting job to focus on finding his three-year-old boy, who is non-verbal, an appropriate school.
Speaking on Gaby Roslin’s BBC Radio London show, he said: “So I’ve made a decision that I’m actually not going to do ‘Inside The Factory’ anymore.
“It’s a good time to stop doing it because there’s actually 12 episodes in the can … so I wouldn’t have been filming for a while anyway so it just seemed like a good idea to stop it.”
The former greengrocer – who has Sid with his wife Anne-Marie Sterpini – continued: “Imagine a child that you can’t threaten or bribe and that’s basically what you’ve got.
“You’ve got a little boy who’s cuddly and happy and naughty, like any little boy would be, but he can’t speak, he can’t talk to you, so he gets frustrated because he finds it difficult to tell you what exactly it is he needs.
“Right now, we need to find education for him and I can’t just leave that to Anna – that’s a big, big decision.
“I mean, all parents worry about the schools that children will go to. Ours is even more highlighted because of poor little Sid’s issues.”
Gregg – who also has Libby and Tom with his second wife Denise and has been married four times – is still a judge on ‘MasterChef’.
The TV star first opened up about Sid’s autism on panel show ‘Loose Women’ last summer to help raise awareness of the neurodevelopmental disorder.
He said: “He’s got something called global development delay, which means he is not speaking.
“But he is lovely, he is cuddly… If he wants something, he grabs your hand.”

Thunderbolts movie is ‘not what people are expecting’

OHMYGOSSIP — The ‘Thunderbolts’ movie will be different from other films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
‘Thunderbolts’ director Jake Schreier has insisted that his upcoming movie about a group of former villains and anti-heroes put together by Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, the Director of the CIA, will feel very different to other MCU ensembles such as ‘Avengers’.
He explained to Screen Rant: “I can’t say what it is, but I can say that there is something different. And I think that, again, when you look at something like ‘Beef ‘there’s a specificity of character that then makes the whole thing feel more universal, because it comes from something so personal. And I think that something that was exciting about ‘Thunderbolts’ is it’s not a sequel. It’s a new story, and it’s a set of characters that maybe we’ve met a little bit in the MCU before, but this is a very new take on who they are and what brings them together. Probably not what people are expecting from it, but I guess I can’t really say more than that.”
The film – slated for release in December 2024 – follows a group of antiheroes as they are recruited by the government to go on missions and Jake previously discussed the challenge of combining a “personal” movie with something that will impress audiences across the world.
The ‘Beef’ director explained to Collider: “It’s about characters and whether there is something specific to those characters that brings them together and something that they’re going through that isn’t the most traditional superhero story to be told.
“We want to make a big universal movie that everyone can connect to but you can only do that by making something that feels personal and I think that’s what’s exciting about the project.”
Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan and Harrison Ford are all set to feature in ‘Thunderbolts’ and Jake confessed he would’ve been foolish to turn down the chance to work with such a star-studded cast.
He said: “What jumped out was that the cast is just incredible, how you could not be excited to work with that group of people.”

Margot Robbie: Some fans weirdly thought Barbie was a horror film

OHMYGOSSIP — Margot Robbie has revealed some fans thought ‘Barbie’ was a horror movie.
The 33-year-old actress stars as stereotypical Barbie in Greta Gerwig’s blockbuster live-action fantasy comedy based on the iconic Mattel doll, and she shared the “weirdest fan theory” about the flick she heard and how it would have left them “disappointed”.
In a video interview with Elle, Margot said: “The weirdest fan theory I’ve heard about the movie so far is that it’s actually a horror film. And that’s what’s gonna take everyone by surprise. ‘Oh, you’re going to the Barbie movie? Psych. It’s scary and gory!’ Someone said that to me, and I was like, ‘It’s not, please don’t spread that rumour.’ I don’t want horror fans to be disappointed.”
Margot hopes people “form an opinion” of ‘Barbie’ – even if they don’t like the movie.
Speaking to ‘Entertainment Tonight’, Margot explained: “I am just so excited.
“We’re at the point of sharing it with the world. There’s always that thing when you make a movie and you love it and you care about it so much and you hope that people are gonna like it and even see it. Like even if they don’t like it, I just hope they see it and get to form an opinion.
“But I feel like so many people are gonna see this movie that it’s really exciting.”
Margot also praised the film’s director for creating a unique movie.
She said: “It really is Greta’s vision.
“I mean, the vision for ‘Barbie’ obviously started 64 years ago, but Greta bringing it into the world today in the way that only Greta Gerwig can is what makes this movie worth making right now.”
Meanwhile, Margot recently revealed that she wasn’t “much of a Barbie girl as a kid”.
The blonde beauty – who grew up in Queensland in Australia – confessed that she wasn’t a huge fan of the dolls.
She told PEOPLE: “I didn’t personally have any [Barbie dolls] that I can recall.
“My sister did and I remember my cousin did. I would play with my cousin’s, but I wasn’t actually that much of a Barbie girl as a kid.”
Asked what kind of girl she was as a child, Margot replied: “I was more of a roll-around-in-the-mud kind of gal.”

‘I’m really a fabulous person!’ What Ruby Wax learned by doing a 30-day silence

OHMYGOSSIP — Ruby Wax went on a silent retreat to “find meaning” in life.
The 70-year-old TV star realised during the COVID-19 lockdowns that she wanted to “find meaning” for herself and went on a series of journeys, one of which included entering a silent retreat for 30 days and coming out of it a different person to when she went in.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’, she told stand-in host Ranvir Singh: “With nothing to do, you had time to face yourself because you had nobody to talk to so I thought ‘Come on, let’s change how you live your life, Ruby. Let’s move it a gear up, let’s find meaning!’
“I didn’t know how to do that. I’d go on these epic journeys to give me some ideas. Some of those were a 30-day silent retreat, I worked in a refugee camp, I lived in a Christian monastery. There were other ones. I went swimming with humpback whales. It’s kind of life-changing stuff. Kind of life-changing things if you pay attention but I kept gazumping it.
“You don’t go on a 30-day retreat and come out the same way you went in because you’ve got no telephone and you’ve got no distractions so your mind eventually just puts up a white flag of surrender and goes ‘Okay!’ You can taste food for the first time and you can watch an ant going up and down a leaf without getting bored. And you think ‘I’m really a fabulous person!'”
However, the fomer ‘Girls on Top’ actress went on to add that she very quicky found herself back on the usual treadmill of life upon leaving the retreat and ended up with another bout of depression.
She added: “But when I came out I did an ad for potato crisps within 24 hours and went straight back to my routine. There is no quick fix. We’ve been us for our whole lives, so it’s hard to break. You go back to your triggers, it’s like being an addict in a way. Everybody starts to perk you up, you start to jerk your face into that smile you used to do and you weren’t that at all once you had these experience. I thought I was with my people, but then I went back and everybody treated me a certain way. After some of those journeys, I wasn’t expecting this one, I hadn’t had depression in 12 years and I ended up in a mental institution!”
Ruby was inspired to write ‘I’m Not As Well As I Thought I Was’ as a result of her experiences and has now turned the book into a play, which she is touring across the UK from September until November.
She added: “I wrote the book from a mental institution, well not when you sit, you can’t even move your right arm let alone know where it is. But it was May 11. And I got a really good therapist, she did a therapy. And in the play, I use the real therapist’s voice. ”

AJ Odudu says Davina McCall gave ‘her blessing”’to host the new Big Brother

OHMYGOSSIP — AJ Odudu says Davina McCall gave “her blessing” to host the ‘Big Brother’ reboot.
The 35-year-old star will host the revival of the Channel 4 reality show alongside Will Best when it returns to screens later this year and revealed that original host Davina, 55, – who fronted the series from 2000 until 2010 – sent her a video message where she reassured her she is “going to smash it”.
She told Grazia: “The Queen herself has given me her blessing.
“She sent me an amazing video when I got the gig saying, ‘You’re going to smash it.’
AJ – whose other predecessors include Brian Dowling, 45, and Emma Willis, 47, who fronted it after it moved to Channel 5 and aired from 2011 to 2018 – detailed how she “clawed her way back” after “so much rejection” like when she was replaced on ‘Big Brother’s Bit on the Side’.
She said: “I’ve clawed my way back without being horrible, just by working hard and being myself. Back then I didn’t even want to get out of my bed.
“I fell into a deep depression because TV just wasn’t going my way.
“Five years ago I was living on my dad’s bedroom floor in a council flat. I was like, ‘I don’t live where you guys think I live and I’m not doing what you guys think.”
When the news broke that AJ would be presenting the reboot of the show, the former ‘ Strictly Come Dancing’ contestant admitted she “couldn’t be more ecstatic” to be fronting the return of such an “iconic” series.
She wrote on Instagram: “This is not a drill! I’m beyond excited to finally be able to say that, I am hosting Big Brother! I couldn’t be more ecstatic to front such an iconic show and to do it alongside my amazing friend @iamwillbest is the icing on the cake. Get ready to be obsessed! Big Brother House, I’m coming to get you!”

‘You can’t take it off’: Charlize Theron will no longer gain weight for movie roles

OHMYGOSSIP — Charlize Theron will no longer be gaining weight for acting roles.
The Oscar-winning actress has previously piled on the pounds for her parts in ‘Monster’ and ‘Tully’ but no longer wishes to make big physical transformations as she now finds it a struggle to shed the weight.
Charlize, 48, told Allure magazine: “I will never, ever do a movie again and say, ‘Yeah, I’ll gain 40 pounds.’ I will never do it again because you can’t take it off.
“When I was 27, I did ‘Monster’. I lost 30 pounds, like, overnight. I missed three meals and I was back to my normal weight.”
Charlize explained that losing weight has become more difficult with age after she put on 50 pounds for her role as exhausted mother Marlo Moreau in the 2018 movie ‘Tully’.
She recalled: “Then I did at 43 for ‘Tully’, and I remember a year into trying to lose the weight, I called my doctor and I said, ‘I think I’m dying because I cannot lose this weight.’ And he was like, ‘You’re over 40. Calm down. Your metabolism is not what it was.’ Nobody wants to hear that.”
Charlize previously revealed that she faced “depression” as she got into character for ‘Tully’.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight at the time, the star said: “I gained close to 50 pounds for this film. I wanted to feel what this woman felt, and I think that was a way for me to get closer to her and get into that mindset.
“You know, it was a huge surprise to me. I got hit in the face pretty hard with depression. Yeah, for the first time in my life I was eating processed foods and I drank way too much sugar. I was not that fun to be around on this film.”

Pirates of the Caribbean star Vince Lozano backs Johnny Depp to return to franchise

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star Vince Lozano has called for Johnny Depp to return as Captain Jack Sparrow.
The actor starred as pirate Jacoby in the franchise’s original 2003 movie ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl’ and feels that Depp “deserves” a chance to reprise the lead role now his legal disputes with ex-wife Amber Heard are over.
Vince told MovieWeb: “I think he deserves another shot as Jack, but I don’t think it’s going to happen, I’m hearing a lot of stories out there.
“The audience is there though. I do a lot of pirate conventions and there’s such a big subculture of people that dress up like pirates, and they love Johnny.”
Depp was axed as Jack Sparrow by Disney in 2018 in an attempt to bring a “new energy” to the franchise but Disney Studios Motion Picture president Sean Bailey did not rule out a potential return for the 60-year-old actor.
In an interview with The New York Times newspaper, Bailey said: “We think we have a really good, exciting story that honours the films that have come before but also has something new to say.”
Quizzed on whether Depp would be part of the movie, Bailey answered by saying that the studio was “noncommittal at this point”.
The ‘Edward Scissorhands’ star mentioned during last year’s defamation trial against Heard that he was disappointed that he didn’t get to bid farewell to ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ after portraying Jack Sparrow in five films.
Depp said: “My feeling was that these characters should be able to have their proper goodbye, as it were.
“A franchise can only last for so long, and there’s a way to end a franchise like that, and I thought that the characters deserved to have their way out, to end the franchise on a very good note. I planned on continuing until it was time to stop.”

‘I’m really excited!’ Russell Tovey teases upcoming TV projects

OHMYGOSSIP — Russell Tovey is “really excited” about his upcoming television projects.
The 41-year-old actor teased two of his series that will air later in the year, such as the coming-of-age comedy ‘Juice – which stars YouTuber Mawaan Rizwan, 31, as a young gay man – and the hotly anticipated show ‘Feud: Capote’s Women’, which centres on ‘In Cold Blood’ writer Truman Capote and his infamous fallout with his gal pals like Jackie Kennedy Onassis’ little sister Lee Radziwill, Babe Paley, Gloria Guinness and Gloria Vanderbilt by showrunner Ryan Murphy, 57.
He told Metro newspaper’s Sixty Seconds column: “Yeah, I have a BBC Three comedy called ‘Juice’ with Mawaan Rizwan that comes out in the autumn, which I’m really excited by and then I’m in Ryan Murphy’s ‘Feud: Capote’s Women’, which I shot after ‘American Horror Story,’ with Tom Hollander playing Capote, and Demi Moore and Naomi Watts, which comes out in the winter. It’s all about the writer Truman Capote versus ‘the swans’ – he had all these rich socialite women around him and he sold out all their personal lives.”
The former ‘Job Lot’ star detailed how “great” it was to slip into the role of the ‘Breakfast At Tiffany’s’ author’s boyfriend John O’Shea and dubbed a “nasty narcissist” for encouraging him to write ‘Answered Prayers’, the unfinished novella that was serialised in Esquire magazine in the 70s.
He said: “I play his boyfriend, John O’Shea, who he meets in a bathhouse, who’s from Jersey and a bank manager, and he’s bad news. He’s basically the one who convinced Truman to f*** over his friends and write about them. So I’m a nasty narcissist; great to play but a horrible person in reality.”
The ‘American Horror Story’ star called it “heaven” to be pals with the Turner Prize-winning artist Tracey Emin, 60.
Russell said: “Heaven. Really nice. Very funny, very generous, a survivor and it’s changed her life. She’s putting so much goodness in the world with her art school in Margate. She’s really good news and her work is getting better and she’s such a good place and I’m really proud.”

Vicky Pattison ‘cried’ receiving shock medical diagnosis

OHMYGOSSIP — Vicky Pattison “cried” when she was diagnosed with PMDD.
The 35-year-old reality star was emotional after being “heard in a medical setting’ about the debilitating mental anguish caused by Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder – which includes mood swings and a lack of energy – she goes through during her menstrual cycle before her period.
She wrote on her Instagram: “It’s like my brain hates me – I am depressed, despondent, hopeless have no interest in things that usually bring me so much joy, and trying to not only deal with that but hide it all from everyone has left me exhausted and overwhelmed”
This week I decided enough was enough and went private and told myself I wouldn’t be dismissed. ‘When the doctor said to me ‘it sounds like you have PMDD’ I cried.
‘I cried because I felt f****** heard in a medical setting for the first time in years and also I cried because hopefully now I can start trying to manage this rather than just ‘get on with it’- like I feel like women are expected to.
The ‘Geordie Shore’ legend also went into great detail about the impact the condition had had on her “whole adult life” and how she is excited to move forward with her life like her upcoming wedding to her fiancee Ercan Ramadan, 39.
She added: “I have struggled with my periods my whole adult life – but over the last five years or so my PMS symptoms have been completely out of control – it has affected my relationships, my work my quality of life.
“At times, it made me feel like I was going insane – I just do not recognise myself for 2 weeks of the month ever so gradually – that time frame is becoming longer – and sometimes, when I’m proper in the midst of this and totally consumed by my own dark thoughts I convince myself that I’m never going to get better, that these feelings and thoughts aren’t temporary. That this is who I am now. And that terrifies me.”
The former ‘Loose Women’ panellist went on to add that she had spoken to doctors about her concerns “for years” and was simply made to feel “hysterical” but thanked her family and friends for their support.
“For years I have been to see doctors and spoke at length about my concerns and in best case scenarios I was pacified- repeatedly told: ‘let’s take out your implant’, ‘periods do get worse as women get older’, ‘that will be your cyst’ etc.
“In worst case scenarios I was made to feel like I was hysterical and unable to deal with the physical and mental ramifications of a period like every other woman could. I was made to feel weak.
“And I felt embarrassed that I was making a fuss when everyone else seemed to be ok. So I would leave and I vow to take it on the chin.
“But the last couple of months have made me realise I can’t go on like this – I’m getting married to the most amazing man, I have the best family and friends and a job I love – and yet I still spend half the month lost.”

‘I’ve lost friends!’ Ekin-Su reveals what life is like after finding fame on Love Island

OHMYGOSSIP — Ekin-Su Culculoglu has “lost friends” since winning ‘Love Island’.
The 29-year-old reality star shot to fame when she and former boyfriend Davide Sanclimenti won the hit ITV2 reality show in 2022 and has now warned future contestants of the series that they need to stay “true” to themselves instead of rushing into things with their partner but revealed that her sudden spell in the public eye has even cost her some friends.
She told Heat magazine: “You need to realise there are a lot of eyes on you. Live [your relationship] privately and have your own space, but also trust your partner and communicate with them. Don’t rush to live together straight away.
“Get to really know each other, and then, when the time is right, move in together and enjoy every moment. Some relationships, like that of Molly-Mae [Hague] and Tommy [Fury]last forever-you get married and have kids. But you just have to stay true to yourself and don’t let fame change you.
“I lost friends. I’ve still got friends now, but not as many as I did before. Our series was very popular, and it felt like a different kind of pressure when I left.”
Ekin was then asked what she had learned since her time in the villa and explained that she is a “confident and powerful” woman but insisted that despite her fame, she is still human.
She said: “That I am a strong woman. I’m confident and powerful, but I also have times when I do get mad over little things. Fame doesn’t mean you’re some sort of robot.”
Following her time on the show, Ekin went on to take part in ITV1’s ‘Dancing on Ice’ – where she was eliminated third along with professional partner Brendyn Hatfield – and addressed false rumours that she would be joining BBC rival ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ this year, noting that she would like to compete on it at some point.
She added: “I’d love to do [‘Strictly’] – that didn’t mean I’m doing it this year. I’d love to do it eventually!”

‘It was a deep sadness!’ EastEnders star Rita Simons opens up about ‘breakdown’ after divorce

OHMYGOSSIP — Rita Simons is in the “most wonderful place” mentally after suffering a “rough” few years.
The 46-year-old actress – who is best known for having starred as Roxy Mitchell on BBC One soap opera ‘EastEnders’ – split from her husband Theo Silveston in 2018 after almost 15 years of marriage but admitted that she is now doing much better after enduring depression and breakdowns.
She told Closer magazine: “It’s no secret that I’ve been through a rough few years. I got divorced and had my breakdowns, but now I’m in the most wonderful place outside of work that I have been in years! It was a deep sadness, I’d say a depression. I couldn’t see the wood for the trees. It was all kind of lumped into one big mess and I was very ill a lot of the time.”
Since leaving ‘EastEnders’ in 2017, Rita – who was diagnosed with spine condition scoliosis at the age of 19 – has competed on ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’, has appeared on stage in ‘Legally Blonde’ and ‘Hairspray’ and recently joined the cast of ‘Hollyoaks’ but admitted that it was her recent participation on BBC Two’s ‘Pilgrimage: The Road through Portugal’ has been her “favourite” reality TV project even though her health at the time left her “seriously thinking” she would have to drop out.
She added: “I walk my do every day – I’m a massive walker. I also train every day and I’ve got a gym at home so I’m pretty hardcore. I’m feeling good and exercise is definitely a part of that.
“I was seriously thinking I was going to have to pull out [‘Pilgrimage’], because I was in a bad way, health-wise, beforehand. I started having all sorts of treatments and I found this amazing IV drip. If it wasn’t for that I would’ve cancelled, but I got through it just in the nick of time. Then it was fine, it was only my back that gave me any jip because I’ve got scoliosis.
“I’ve done a lot. I went to Australia and I did the jungle, and I did ‘MasterChef’ with [co-star] Su Polard, but ‘The Pilgrimage’ was my favourite show in terms of reality or documentary.”

Davina McCall will appear in Doctor Who Christmas special

OHMYGOSSIP — Davina McCall will appear in the ‘Doctor Who’ Christmas special.
The 55-year-old presenter will play herself alongside the new Time Lord -played by ‘Sex Education’ star Ncuti Gatwa, 30 – as she helps his new assistant Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson) track down her family on a programme similar to her ITV1 genealogy show ‘Long Lost Family’.
A telly insider told the Sun newspaper’s TVBiz Column: “The Christmas special is a huge deal for the BBC — this year especially so, as it’s Ncuti and Millie’s first.
“The Davina storyline is one element of the big festive episode on the table.”
The news of Davina’s casting comes after script editor Scott Handcock teasing that “a guest star from 2005” would reprise their role.
The source added: “As well as Davina, other guest stars from 2005 included Simon Callow and Annette Badland but Simon Pegg’s character could fit nicely alongside Davina’s role.”
Ncuti will assume the legendary role in the 60th anniversary celebration from David Tennant, 52, who is coming back to the role alongside Catherine Tate, 53, after the departure of Jodie Whittaker, 41.
The ‘Barbie’ star – whose debut on the show will begin airing in Spring 2024 – revealed that his spin of the iconic character is “emotionally vulnerable”.
Ncuti told Rolling Stone magazine: “My Doctor is emotionally vulnerable. He hides it with humour, but he’s lonely. I can’t say much more than that; I don’t want to spoil anything. But he’s also energetic! The poor cameramen struggled to keep up.”
“I fell in love with it. When you watch it, you forget all your troubles. You go to space, or to another time. You have adventures.”
In October last year, Russell T Davies, the newly reappointed showrunner teased “plenty more surprises” in the run-up to his debut.
He told the Sun newspaper: “If you thought the appearance of David Tennant was a shock, we’ve got plenty more surprises on the way!
“The path to Ncuti’s Fifteenth Doctor is laden with mystery, horror, robots, puppets, danger and fun! And how is it connected to the return of the wonderful Donna Noble? How, what, why? We’re giving you a year to speculate, and then all hell lets loose!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Louise Thompson and her fiancé Ryan Libbey barely spoke for the first six months of their son’s life.
The ‘Made in Chelsea’ star suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) following the birth of their little boy in November 2021, and she has openly revealed she and her longtime partner could hardly communicate after the trauma of her birth.
Updating fans on Instagram, Louise began: “Ryan and I didn’t have proper conversations for months and months after the trauma of having Leo.
“We didn’t talk at all. Very limited talking for the first 6 months of his life.”
Louise – who also has the autoimmune disease, Lupus – confessed that she “didn’t really recognise” Ryan “as a person”, but insisted it was a “mutual paralysis” that made them act so “weird”.
She went on: “I don’t think I asked him a single question until Leo was at least 4 months old. I didn’t even really recognise him as a person in my home. (Before you think i’m a total monster he didn’t ask how I was either).
“It was a mutual paralysis. Things were so dire, we couldn’t even register how weird this behaviour was. It’s only on reflection that I recognise how strange it is.”
On how they got by, she said: “We find it easier to talk in passing, or over WhatsApp, or when we don’t have to look each other in the eye. Playing tennis in the kitchen.”
Louise – who starred alongside her brother Sam Thompson on the E4 reality show – wants to ensure their little boy doesn’t have the same problem with sharing his feelings with others.
She asked her followers: “Where do you feel comfortable having important conversations?⁣⁣⁣
“I really want to encourage Leo to be able to look me in the eye and have the confidence to talk to me about his feelings as he grows up. Any tips from parents who are further down the line than me?”
