Roman Kemp joins BBC’s The One Show as regular co-host as Ronan Keating steps back

OHMYGOSSIP — Roman Kemp is set to join Alex Jones as co-host of BBC’s ‘The One Show’.
With Boyzone star Ronan Keating, 46, reducing his presenting duties on the TV magazine and chat show programme – which he first started guest-hosting in 2017 before going full-time in 2021 – the Capital FM radio star will be taking over the reins with the help of fellow DJ Lauren Laverne, 45.
Roman, 30, said: “I’m very excited to become a permanent presenter on The One Show — I have had so much fun filming with the team already.
“It’s a dream come true to be on primetime BBC One, bringing the best news to the nation.”
Ronan said: “I have loved being part of The One Show team.
“I’ll be doing less shows due to my performing schedule and wish Roman the best.”
Jermaine Jenas, 40, will also remain a regular co-host.
‘The One Show’ editor Joanne Vaughan-Jones added: “We’re thrilled to have Roman join us as a regular One Show host alongside Alex and Jermaine on the sofa.
“It’s an exciting new chapter for the show, and we’re looking forward to viewers seeing even more of Roman.”
Roman’s new BBC gig comes after he revealed he had to improve his style for the broadcaster.
The Capital FM Breakfast Show presenter is also the co-host of the BBC One quiz show ‘The Finish Line’, alongside former ‘Blue Peter’ presenter Sarah Greene, and Roman admitted his usual style wasn’t quite right for the BBC.
He told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Even though I do quizzes every day on the radio, it is intimidating and certainly a skill to do this show — it’s just one I had to learn.
“My relationship with Sarah isn’t serious, we’re pretty cheeky on set.
“The only serious thing is that I had to wear more reserved clothing but that’s just BBC clothing.
“I can’t go on there looking how I look on ‘Gogglebox’.”
Roman – whose parents are Martin and Shirlie Kemp – also presented the documentary ‘Boot Dreams’ on BBC Three and iPlayer.
In 2021, he also fronted the BBC Three documentary, ‘Roman Kemp: Our Silent Emergency’, about the mental health crisis and spoke candidly about his own battles.
‘The One Show’ airs weeknights from 7pm on BBC One.

Corrie stars plot to get Ellie Leach to Strictly final: ‘It’ll be a massive f*** you to ITV bosses!’

OHMYGOSSIP — The cast of ‘Coronation Street’ is reportedly planning to do “all they can” to get Ellie Leach to the final of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 22-year-old actress left her role as Faye Windass on the ITV1 soap opera earlier this year after more than a decade but an insider has alleged that the decision to quit was not her own and that bosses “did not see a future” for her on the cobbles.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Everyone has vowed to do all they can to get Ellie to the final of Strictly as a ‘f*** you’ to bosses. It was made clear to her earlier this year they didn’t see a future for her character so she was left with no choice. At the time she said she had quit but it was always seen as an axe.”
The source went on to allege that Ellie’s departure from the soap opera caused “major upset” at the ITV studios and they now plan to make her a “big star” on the rival network.
“It caused major upset behind the scenes because co-stars felt she was treated really badly.
“So they want her to become a big BBC star and stick two fingers up to the powers that be.”
Ellie – who started playing Faye on ‘Coronation Street’ when she was just nine years old – will take to the dancefloor alongside ‘EastEnders’ star Nigel Harman, TV legend Les Dennis, and ‘Bad Education’ actor Layton Williams, amongst a host of others.
Speaking on BBC Breakfast when the news was revealed, she said: “It still doesn’t feel real that I’m going to be doing ‘Strictly’!
“It’s always been a dream of mine so I guess dreams really do come true!”

‘I was terrified!’ Why Michelle Collins nearly turned down EastEnders return

OHMYGOSSIP — Michelle Collins almost turned down the chance to return to ‘EastEnders’.
The 61-year-old actress made a shock return to her role as Cindy Beale in the BBC One soap opera earlier this year even though viewers were told she had died in childbirth more than 20 years ago and admitted that it took her a little while to say yes to the offer when the call came.
She told TVTimes: It has taken a year for it to happen; I was doing ‘Cluedo’ on tour when I was asked if I would be interested. Initially, I was like, ‘No, I don’t know… and then my agent and I met with Chris Clenshaw, the executive producer. He showed us the storyline on his laptop and I thought, “Wow, if they can make it work, then maybe, yes!’ I suppose things are about timing, aren’t they? It just felt like it was the right time.”
The former ‘Coronation Street’ star went on to add that it was “surreal and terrifying” to be back playing Cindy – who was revealed to have been living in the Witness Protection Programme before arriving back in Albert Square – but quickly relaxed once she met her on-screen husband again.
She added: “Surreal and terrifying, but exciting at the same time. Cindy was meeting people on the Square for the first time and so was I.
“As an actor, you want a challenge and it was certainly challenging. I was going through all these emotions and thinking, ‘Can I still play this character?” But as soon as I met Adam Woodyatt (Ian Beale), I realised that it’s a bit like riding a bike. It feels like I’ve come full circle in a really nice way.”

Former Loose Women star Saira Khan receives death threats over wearing a bikini

OHMYGOSSIP — Saira Khan received death threats for wearing a bikini.
The 53-year-old presenter was born into a Muslim family and admitted that she has experienced a wealth of online trolling over her lack of clothing but remains “proud” that she can strip off and feel empowered.
She told Closer: “I’m so proud to be in a bikini, yet in my culture I’ve experienced death threats for showing myself. I can’t tell you how much trolling I’ve had. I say, ‘Bring it on’ – because I’m not going to stop. People are scared of powerful women, because when we own who we are, we change the world!”
Meanwhile, the TV star – who found fame when she competed on ‘The Apprentice’ but is best known for previously being a regular panellist on ‘Loose Women from 2015 until 2020 – reminded women of her community of the importance of seeing a “fit, healthy body” even though they are covered up a lot of the time,
She said: “For women in my community and my culture, it’s so important to see what a fit, healthy body looks like and how it ages, because we don’t see it, as a lot of it is covered all the time. I fully believe that if you can’t see it, you can’t be it. We need to show off our bodies in order to get vitamin D – otherwise it really won’t serve you well later in life!”
Saira has also recently cut sugar out of her diet and noted that although she likes sweet treats, the change has been beneficial for her health, especially in terms of the menopause.
She added: “As you hit the menopause there are lots of things you have to watch, like the thickening of the waist, weak bones, hormonal changes, depression, and anxiety. A lot of it is to do with your diet and physical activity. I love sugar and I wish I could have it all the time, but I can’t, because I want to feel good about myself and I don’t want that hormonal roller coaster.
“I can’t afford to be like that every day because it gets me down. I’ve cut it out as much as I can and, actually, I feel better for it. I’ve noticed big changes like weight loss, hormonal balances, more energy and less anxiety!”

‘I want to make it: Michael Mann plans to bring Heat sequel to the big screen

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Mann still intends to make a sequel to ‘Heat’.
The 80-year-old director released a follow-up to his 1995 crime epic starring Al Pacino and Robert De Niro in the form of a novel last year and is planning to turn it into a film – although he won’t be “incomplete” if the project does not come to fruition as he has been able to make movies like ‘Ferrari’ instead.
Michael told Variety: “The thing is, I don’t think about mortality. I’m busy. What good would it do me? If I absolutely had to make ‘Heat 2’, I wouldn’t have got lost in this beautiful story of ‘Ferrari’. And I took two years to write a novel.
“Fortunately, it became a New York Times No. 1 bestseller. The things I’m into are things that fascinate me and keep me moving forward.”
The ‘Public Enemies’ director added: “Don’t misunderstand. I want to make it. But if I don’t, I won’t be incomplete.”
It was revealed earlier this year that Warner Bros. were in negotiations to bring the ‘Heat’ sequel to the big screen with insiders suggesting Adam Driver was in talks to play a young Neil McCauley in the project – a role filled by De Niro in the original.
Michael had previously confirmed that the original cast members would be unable to return as the story is set before the events of the first film.
He told Empire magazine: “I love those guys, but they’d have to be six years younger than they were in ‘Heat’.”
Michael is confident that the sequel will be successful as the original movie remains popular nearly three decades on from its release.
He explained: “It’s sustained in culture. It’s known. I could delude myself into thinking that the whole world is familiar with it, but when you check out its prominence in home vid for over 20 years, this thing really has legs.
“People are still watching it, people are still talking about it. It’s a brand. It’s kind of a ‘Heat’ universe, in a way. And that certainly justifies a very large ambitious movie.”

Jamie Foxx cast as God in Not Another Church Movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Jamie Foxx is to play God in ‘Not Another Church Movie’.
The 55-year-old actor has been tapped to star in the comedy film from writer-director Johnny Mack which is eyeing a release in cinemas later this year.
The film was shot before both the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes that have put Hollywood productions on hold and the ensemble cast is led by Kevin Daniels.
Vivica A. Fox, Tisha Campbell, Jasmine Guy, Kyla Pratt and Lamorne Morris also feature with Mickey Rourke playing the Devil.
The picture is described as a wild ride through the world of Taylor Pharry (Daniels), an ambitious young man who is given a holy mission from God to tell his family’s stories and inspire his community. What he doesn’t know is that the Devil has his own plans.
The movie is being produced by James Michael Cummings and former Warner Bros. executive Jim Cardwell, with Valerie McCaffrey serving as executive producer.
Cummings told Deadline: “We are thrilled to have Mr. Foxx be a part of this hilarious comedy and bring his incredible talent to the role of God, working with Foxx and Johnny Mack was a true blessing.
“This film is a unique blend of new and established talent, and we can’t wait to hear the laughs and for audiences to see the magic that happens on the big screen. This movie will not disappoint.”
Foxx is known for roles in movies such as ‘Ray’ and ‘Collateral’ but recently described how he is “finally starting to feel like” himself again after being hospitalised in April for an unspecified medical emergency.
The Oscar-winning star shared a picture of himself on Instagram and added the caption: “You’re lookin’ at a man who is thankful… finally startin’ to feel like myself… it’s been an unexpected dark journey… but I can see the light… (sic)”

Suzie Wells reveals her menopause hell: ‘It’s knocked me… I get nervous, suffer sleep deprivation and put on a stone!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Suzie Wells says she has been “knocked” so badly by the menopause she suffers anxiety.
The 54-year-old, who found fame in ‘The Only Way is Essex’ alongside daughters Billie Shepherd, 33, and Sam Faiers, 32, added she tried hormone replacement therapy to ease her symptoms but has now come off it after it left her bloated.
She told Closer magazine: “I should feel on top of the world, but the menopause has knocked me. I’ve never suffered with anxiety, but now I get nervous and I have sleep deprivation.”
After being encouraged to visit a specialist by her reality TV star daughters, Suzie decided to go on HRT, but only lasted six months and has lost the stone she put on in the process.
She added: “Things have calmed down, but I still have hot flushes and forget what I’m saying – brain fog is the worst.
“I stopped taking HRT spray as I didn’t feel any different. A lot of my friends said, ‘HRT is great – just wait and see how you feel’, but I never had that moment where I felt ‘amazing’. It didn’t suit me.
“On top of feeling bloated I’d end up with a bigger stomach. As soon as I came off it, I lost the 7 kilos I’d gained and that’s a big difference.”
She went on about how she maintains her health: “I take Revive collagen in the morning… it’s helped my skin and my hair which was starting go thin – it’s got so much body now. I also take vitamin D, magnesium and zinc to get rid of tiredness.”
Sam and Billie’s biological dad walked out on Suzie when her two girls were young, and even though she says she would love to meet a new man, she is “wary” of trying dating apps and meeting strangers.
She added: “He’d have to understand my crazy lifestyle and go here and there with me.”

Alison Steadman loves when fans tell her they loved her in ‘Gavin and Stacey’ as it helps ease her depression over state of the world

OHMYGOSSIP — Alison Steadman loves it when fans tell her they adore her work in ‘Gavin and Stacey’ as it helps ease her depression over the state of the world.
The 76-year-old actress played party-loving Pam Shipman in the sitcom 16 years ago and her latest show ‘Alison and Larry: Billericay to Barry’ sees her team up with her on-screen husband from the series Larry Lamb, 75 – who played Michael Shipman – to retrace the same journeys their characters made.
She told Yours magazine about how she and Larry loved being recognised by friendly ‘Gavin and Stacey’ show while they were filming the new Gold show: “We love it. Every time you watch the news it’s depressing and sometimes I’m in tears when I watch the reports.
“So it’s lovely to be walking along the street and to have smiling people come up and say, ‘I love your show. We watch it as a family every year.’
“They’re so full of joy and you think, ‘Yes! That’s what we need in life!’”
Alison, who has also starred in ‘Boomers’ and ‘Pride and Prejudice’, travels with Larry in their Gold show 210 miles in an electric car from their characters’ home in Billericay, Essex, to Barry Island, where Nessa, Uncle Bryn and Stacey lived.
The three-part series, which is airing on Mondays at 8pm, sees them reminisce about their time filming the show – which was co-written by James Corden, 45, and 56-year-old Ruth Jones – and meeting former cast members, as well as riding dodgems and going cold water swimming in the Cotswolds.
Despite ‘Gavin and Stacey’ being half-set in Essex, Alison admitted: “I’ve never been to Billericay.
“We met the mayor and he took us to a beautiful park. We were shown a plaque that will be placed in front of (a) tree bearing (mine and Larry’s names) and a tribute to ‘Gavin and Stacey’.”

Jenna Coleman is ‘delighted’ to be starring in BBC One drama The Jetty

OHMYGOSSIP — Jenna Coleman is “delighted” to be starring in crime drama ‘The Jetty’.
The former ‘Doctor Who’ star is “exploring” the character of inexperienced detective Ember Manning in the four-part BBC series created by ‘Harlots’ writer Cat Jones and directed by ‘Young and Wild’ filmmaker Marialy Rivas.
The action will unfold around a fire that tears through a holiday home in a scenic Lancashire lake town. Manning must work out how it connects to a podcast journalist investigating a missing persons cold case and an illicit ‘love’ triangle between a man in his twenties and two underage girls, but the truth threatens to destroy her own life and make her re-evaluate everything she thought she new about her hometown.
Upon the announcement of the series, the 37-year-old actress said: “I’m delighted to be returning to the BBC to be a part of The Jetty, with Firebird Pictures at the helm, bringing the story of Ember Manning to life. I look forward to exploring Cat Jones’ darkly probing scripts, alongside Marialy Rivas’ eloquent vision.”
Writer and creator Cat admitted she was “thrilled” to be bringing her story to the BBC.
She said: “I’m thrilled to be making ‘The Jetty’ for BBC One. Like millions of people all over the world, I’ve grown up loving and admiring BBC dramas, so getting to create one really is a dream come true. ‘The Jetty’ is a story I’ve wanted to tell for a long time but it wasn’t until it found its champions at the fantastically writer friendly Firebird, that it really came to life. What feels like a total dream team continues to grow with the addition of Marialy Rivas to direct and the brilliant Jenna Coleman. I’ve no doubt audiences are going to be completely transfixed by her as Ember.”
The series’ executive producer Elizabeth Kilgarriff dubbed the show “provocative” and “deliciously surprising”.
She said: “Provocative, thrilling and deliciously surprising at every turn, Cat’s beautiful scripts promise to take the audience on a rollercoaster ride where nothing is quite as it seems. To have the opportunity to work with Jenna again – and see her bring our complex, funny and utterly human heroine Ember to life on BBC One, couldn’t be more exciting – and I can’t wait to see the visual magic that the brilliant Marialy Rivas weaves as this powerful and gripping story unfolds.”

Claudia Winkleman was told to cut her fringe before hosting Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Claudia Winkleman was told to cut her fringe when she landed the hosting job on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 51-year-old television presenter joined Tess Daly as co-host back in 2014 after the departure of the late Sir Bruce Forsyth.
Claudia has now spilled that Danny Cohen, who was the controller of BBC One at the time, phoned her to offer her the job and then asked for her hair stylist’s contact details.
Appearing at the Edinburgh TV Festival, she spilled: “[He said] I’m just going to need a phone number from you. I was like, ‘Oh yeah, okay, which one?’ and he said, ‘Your hairdresser’s.’ I was like, ‘Bit weird!’
“Two days later, James, who does my hair, said, ‘This guy phoned up to complain about the length of your fringe.’
“He was like, ‘You can have this job but it’s just annoying, it’s down to your nose. You want to be on telly but you’re invisible!'”
Claudia – who has kids Jake, 19, Matilda, 16, and Arthur, 11, with her film producer husband Kris Thykier, 51 – attributes her hairstyle for things “happening” like losing her virginity while a History of Art student at Cambridge.
She said during her ‘Behind The Fringe’ tour in Guildford: “People ask what I am hiding with my fringe — and it’s a massive forehead that is repellent.
“When I was 21 and a virgin, I got my fringe and everything started happening.”
The BBC Radio 2 DJ also credits being a “walking fringe” as a reason she doesn’t “need” cosmetic injections to keep looking youthful.
Claudia said: “I don’t need Botox now. Have you seen how long my fringe is? It is now almost upper-lip length, I cannot recommend it enough.
“When you hit 51, just grow an enormous curtain in front of your face. Go full yeti. It works.
“I am a walking fringe. But I grew it a centimetre every month and then suddenly started getting complaints. I genuinely get letters of complaint.
“The main concerns seem to be, ‘How does she see?’ and ‘What is she hiding?’. I also had a, ‘Have you got squirrels under there?’ which was a particularly good letter.”

Channel 4’s Ian Katz warns UK broadcasters could become as irrelevant ‘as Kodak or Blockbuster’

OHMYGOSSIP — The head of Channel 4 has warned that UK broadcasters could become as irrelevant “as Kodak or Blockbuster”.
Ian Katz, the channel’s boss, believes that the route to success is to adapt to streaming and to stop worrying about “linear ratings” or else they will go bust like the once-legendary brands, with Kodak’s camera business and Blockbuster’s video and DVD rentals becoming obsolete.
While speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival, he said: “We can commission at pace as soon as ad revenue starts to come through but in order to do that, we have to behave responsibly.
“That is how we have worked through multiple ad recessions and we have always come back.
“Any broadcaster who obsesses about linear ratings now risks going the way of Kodak or Blockbuster.
“These are great brands that failed once the ground had shifted under their feet.”
Ian revealed the impact that the Hollywood strikes – which consists of the dispute between the SAG-AFTRA and Writers Guild of America over fair pay and AI concerns – and streamers “pulling billions from their budgets” were having on the “commissioning slowdown”.
He said: “The commissioning slowdown has hit the whole industry, and every commercial broadcaster has been affected by the ad revenue slump.
“Other broadcasters have chosen to communicate with suppliers whichever way they choose, but I think that has led to the perception that the picture at Channel 4 has been more dramatic than elsewhere.”
One of Channel 4’s most recent greenlit programmes is ‘Disability Benefits’ by Rosie Jones, who is “incredibly excited” to bring her idea to series.
The 33-year-old comic said: “I am incredibly excited to be making ‘Disability Benefits’ for Channel 4.
“It has always been my dream to have my own sitcom and now it is coming true! Bring it on!”
In addition, the network also confirmed there would be a second season of ‘Late Night Lycett’ with trouble-maker comedian Joe Lycett.
The 35-year-old stand-up comic said: “I can’t wait to go bigger and wilder in series two.”

Big Brother icon Kate Lawler ‘in a good place’ after anxiety diagnosis

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Lawler is in a “good place” again after being treated for anxiety.
The former ‘Big Brother’ star battled post-natal depression after the birth of her daughter Noa in 2021 – whom she had with her husband Martin ‘Boj’ Bojtos – and she went on to be diagnosed with generalised anxiety disorder last year – but she’s feeling well after help from her doctor.
Speaking on on the ‘In A Good Place’ podcast, Kate was asked if she’s “in a good place?” to which she replied: “Considering where I was this time two years ago, yes. Now was a few months old and I was deep in the depths of postnatal depression, thinking I’d never be happy again, despite the fact that I loved her deeply.
“Boj and I weren’t in a good place either, but everything’s turned around now.
“Last year I was diagnosed with generalised anxiety disorder and went back on meds, which I’m not ashamed to say.”
Kate, 43, went on to explain she feels it’s important to be honest with fans about her mental health struggles.
She added: “When you’re in the public eye, it’s dangerous not to be honest with the people who follow you online.
“I’ve always been a very honest and open person; I’m an overshared. It’s like free therapy.”
However, Kate – who became the first female winner of ‘Big Brother’ back in 2002 – had some bad experiences with trolls and admits being branded a bad mum by a stranger almost put her off sharing her experiences on social media.
She went on to share: “I was getting a lot of criticism on posts from people who don’t know me who said I’m ungrateful and a terrible mother. almost stopped posting about my experiences because of it. One of my friends opened up about her challenges because I’d shared mine: I didn’t want it to feel like it was taboo.”
Last year, Kate shared a candid post on Instagram with pictures showing her with her daughter a year apart, revealing 12 months had made a huge difference to her life.
She explained: “Same day, same month, one year apart. The difference in both of us is remarkable. In the photo on the left, I was desperately trying to be happy and get on with my life as a new Mum but inside I was at my lowest point ever.
“I was going through post-natal depression, had recently been diagnosed with generalised anxiety disorder and felt like I was failing on so many levels as Mum to Noa and partner to Boj.”
She went on to say a weekend away and decision to stop breastfeeding helped her make changes. She added: “It was during this weekend away (Boj surprised me with a weekend staycation at a lovely Airbnb in Henley-On-Thames with friends for my 41st birthday) that I decided to stop breastfeeding as it was becoming too stressful with Noa not wanting to feed from me and my milk supply dwindling.
“It was a decision I can now look back and say was the best thing for my mental health and for Noa, despite cutting so deep at the time because of how much I wanted it to work.
“Cut to a year later and she’s the happiest, funniest, most precious little Tayto, coming up to 16 months and I’m in such a different headspace to back then.”

‘They bring their own authentic experiences’: Angel Manuel Soto wanted Mexican stars in Blue Beetle

OHMYGOSSIP — Angel Manuel Soto was desperate to cast Mexican actors in ‘Blue Beetle’.
The Puerto Rican filmmaker has directed the new DC Extended Universe (DCEU) film – the first live-action movie to feature a Latino superhero in the form of Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle – and wanted the casting to be as authentic as possible.
Speaking to Collider, Angel said: “One of the things that we wanted to do, first of all, was hire Mexican actors – not just Mexican Americans, but also go to Mexico and get the best stars from Mexico, like Damian Alcazar or Adriana Barraza.
“They bring their own authentic experiences to the movie, and that helps a lot to inform the conditions we want to put the Reyes family in.”
He continued: “We want the Reyes family to live in a world that affects their environment, that affects their decisions. Like for example, in my case from Puerto Rico – displacement, colonialism, gentrification.
“Those things that are real threats, home insecurity, not putting food on the table, proper health care”
The 40-year-old director explained how he wanted to “ground” the movie in experiences that shape Latino communities.
He explained: “I wanted this film, because it is the first time you see a character that is Latino on the paper, that his families are Latino, I really wanted to ground it on the experiences that form a lot of us, right?
“Like oftentimes in a lot of movies, our stories are told in the middle of the sentence, or in the middle of the paragraph, like, boom, gangster, boom, you came out of prison, boom. We never have a chance to tell our history of where we come from and the stuff that really does affect us.”

‘It’s my responsibility’: Michael Mann on failure of Blackhat

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Mann takes full responsibility for the failure of his film ‘Blackhat’.
The 2015 thriller – starring Chris Hemsworth as a paroled cybercriminal pursuing a hacker stealing data – was a critical and commercial flop and director Michael has admitted that the script wasn’t ready when he started shooting.
He told Variety: “It’s my responsibility. The script was not ready to shoot. The subject may have been ahead of the curve, because there were a number of people who thought this was all fantasy. Wrong. Everything is stone-cold accurate.”
One of Mann’s best-known films is the 1995 crime film ‘Heat’ starring Robert De Niro and Al Pacino.
Although he recently wrote the crime novel ‘Heat 2’, the 80-year-old filmmaker is unsure if he will ever get a chance to turn it into a movie.
He said: “The thing is, I don’t think about mortality. I’m busy. What good would it do me? If I absolutely had to make ‘Heat 2,’ I wouldn’t have got lost in this beautiful story of ‘Ferrari’. And I took two years to write a novel. Fortunately, it became a New York Times No. 1 bestseller. The things I’m into are things that fascinate me and keep me moving forward.
“Don’t misunderstand. I want to make it. But if I don’t, I won’t be incomplete.”

Bat Mitzvah compared to Uncut Gems

OHMYGOSSIP — Sammi Cohen has joked that Adam Sandler and Idina Menzel’s ‘You’re So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah’ relationship is the prelude to their ‘Uncut Gems’ roles.
Adam and Idina play a happily married couple in ‘Bat Mitzvah’ but they portrayed an estranged husband and wife in the 2019 movie ‘Uncut Gems’ and director Cohen sees some similarities between the two couples.
She told Variety: “Idina is the best. Adam really loved working with her on ‘Uncut Gems’. I joke that ‘Bat Mitzvah’ is like the happy side of their marriage, the prelude to ‘Uncut Gems’. We wanted the Friedman family to feel warm, sweet, goofy, normal, relatable; she was just the perfect fit. And she’s also incredibly talented and on top of that is just a really lovely human being.”
The movie is a family affair for Adam, whose daughters Sunny and Sadie play the Bat Mitzvah girl Stacy Friedman and her older sister Ronnie.
Even his wife, Jackie Sandler, has a role as the mom of Stacy’s best friend Lydia (Samantha Lorraine).
Cohen said: “Sunny and Sadie were attached when I came on board, I knew I’d be working with them – that was part of my excitement, getting to work with the girls – and then we built out the cast from there. Adam came on board to play Danny, Jackie [played Lydia’s mom] Gabi and then we found Samantha, who plays Lydia. It really came from the girls and we built the world around them.”
“There wasn’t a huge struggle for me in terms of working with them. Adam plays dad to his daughters, but they’re able to detach. When we enter the Friedman house and we’re making the movie, it’s its own thing. I think there’s such a beautiful natural chemistry you get — I love that moment in the car when Adam fake-spills the coffee on her. There are just these beautiful little moments that feel so slice-of-life. But Adam gave the girls space to do their own thing. Everyone had space to do what they do best, but there’s also support when you needed it.”

‘I find it helpful to try to think of how ridiculous this job is’: Joel Dommett on NTAs nerves

OHMYGOSSIP — Joel Dommett admits his job is ridiculous.
The ‘Masked Singer’ presenter will be returning to host the National Television Awards this year for the third time and he tries to calm his nerves by reminding himself how silly it all is.
He told The Daily Mail’s Weekend magazine: “I find it helpful to try to think of how ridiculous this job is: wearing a white tuxedo and handing out awards. It’s a privilege. It’s fun. It brings joy. But it’s also ridiculous. So don’t take yourself too seriously.
“I try to simplify the situation. It’s easy to think, ‘Oh God, there’s 15,000 people here. There’s Ant and Dec and Ricky Gervais and Michael McIntyre in the front row looking at me.’
“It gets so crowded in your head it’s impossible to do the job, which is literally to just read. You’ve got a script and you’ve read it hundreds of times before.”
Despite how “ridiculous” he sometimes thinks his job is, Joel, 38, is grateful for the security of the recurring NTAs gig and his TV presenting as he and wife Hannah Cooper, 32, prepare to welcome their first child together this year.
He explained: “The baby has also come at a really good time. With ‘The Masked Singer’ and the NTAs it’s the first time I’ve ever had job security, so I don’t feel like I have to be out every night doing the comedy clubs. I’m an over-worker so hopefully this will give me a bit of the other side.
“We’re really excited yet it’s petrifying. We know the sex of the baby and we have a name we really like, we’re just hoping the Kardashians don’t steal it before we fully decide on it.
“That’s our worst fear. I’ll probably welcome the baby like I welcome people for the NTAs, with a speech. I just hope it holds off until after the show.”
