Jamie Oliver’s son Buddy lands his own BBC cooking show

OHMYGOSSIP — Jamie Oliver’s son Buddy has reportedly landed his own cooking show.
The celebrity chef’s 12-year-old boy is set to follow in his famous dad’s footsteps with his own culinary programme on the BBC teaching other kids how to recreate delicious recipes after the success of his YouTube series ‘Cooking Buddies’.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “Buddy has taken all of his dad’s experience on board and is about to put it into play with his own cookery show.
“He’s already had great success with content on YouTube and Instagram.
“Jamie’s fans have long been asking for his son to have his own show for their kids to enjoy.”
Buddy – who has an impressive 133,000 subscribors on his YouTube channel – will be joined by other kids as he teaches them how to rustle up the dishes.
The insider added: “The series will see Buddy joined in the kitchen by other children as he teaches recipes and gives helpful tips to youngsters on how to get started with cooking.”
It’s said the youngster will be flying solo for the project rather than relying on his famous father.
The source said: “Buddy is the star of the show. Jamie is keen for his son to prove himself to telly audiences, not just live off the family name.
“So Buddy’s got to showcase his technical skills and presenting ability.
“But if his YouTube work is anything to go by, it’ll be natural for him.”
Meanwhile, the Naked Chef Jamie recently returned with new four-part Channel 4 series ‘Jamie Cooks The Mediterranean’, which follows his travels across Greece, Tunisia, Spain and France as he explores a range of flavours and styles to inspire new recipes.
Tim Hancock – commissioning editor for Channel 4 – previously said: “Jamie has been going from strength to strength in his series for us, and this is a really beautiful travelogue showcasing techniques and recipes even the most avid foodie might have missed, and some ingenious recipes from Jamie.”

Countryfile host Anita Rani ‘splits from husband’

OHMYGOSSIP — Anita Rani has reportedly split from her husband Bhupi Rehal after 14 years of marriage.
The 45-year-old ‘Countryfile’ presenter tied the knot with the tech company owner in a Sikh wedding ceremony in Bradford, West Yorkshire in 2009 but now a new report suggests they’ve parted ways after “drifting apart over time”.
A source told The Mirror newspaper: “It’s really sad but they’ve decided to separate. Their hectic schedules over the past couple of years have sadly meant they’ve drifted apart over time. They remain on very good terms and wish nothing but the best for one another.”
The couple didn’t have any children together and news of the split comes after Anita took the brave decision to open up about a devastating miscarriage she suffered back in 2018.
The TV host told The Times the experience changed her outlook on life. She explained: “I’m much better at self-care and I ask myself more questions about how I want to live my life. I’m also more willing to be vulnerable, like talking about the miscarriage I had in 2018. Vulnerability used to scare the s*** out of me, but it has been liberating to share my personal story and see the response.”
Anita married Bhupi when she was 32 and she previously admitted she felt under pressure to settle down as she entered her 30s. She told the Yorkshire Post: “It’s a woman thing, isn’t it? The message that success equals marriage and children is pretty ingrained. We are equated to those two things. It’s everywhere, it’s all around us.”
She added: “It’s just drip fed to you. As women, we’re all told it. ‘Have you met anyone yet? We just don’t want you to be lonely’. I think it really ramped up from about [age] 25, but when you hit 30 it’s like, bloody hell, what’s going on?”

Pirates of the Caribbean 6 script so ‘weird’ writer is shocked Disney went for it

OHMYGOSSIP — The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 6’ script is so “weird” the writer is shocked Disney bought it.
Craig Mazin has collaborated with Ted Elliott – who co-wrote the first four movies in the swashbuckling franchise – on the upcoming sixth instalment, although plans are on hold due to the ongoing writers and actors strikes in Hollywood.
Mazin told the Los Angeles Times newspaper: “We pitched it and thought there’s no way they’re buying it, it’s too weird.
“And they did! And then he wrote a fantastic script and the strike happened and everyone’s waiting around.”
Leading man Johnny Depp was axed as Jack Sparrow 2018 in an attempt to bring a “new energy” to the franchise but Disney Studios Motion Picture president Sean Bailey did not rule out a potential return for the 60-year-old actor.
In an interview with The New York Times newspaper, Bailey previously said: “We think we have a really good, exciting story that honours the films that have come before but also has something new to say.”
Quizzed on whether Depp – who was removed from the role amid legal issues with Amber Heard – would be part of the movie after now that the defamation trial is over, Bailey answered by saying that the studio was “noncommittal at this point”.
The ‘Edward Scissorhands’ star had mentioned during last year’s trial against Heard that he was disappointed that he didn’t get to bid farewell to ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ after portraying Jack in five films.
Depp said: “My feeling was that these characters should be able to have their proper goodbye, as it were.
“A franchise can only last for so long, and there’s a way to end a franchise like that, and I thought that the characters deserved to have their way out, to end the franchise on a very good note. I planned on continuing until it was time to stop.”

Richard Linklater fears for the future of indie cinema

OHMYGOSSIP — Moviemaker Richard Linklater fears independent cinema is “gone with the wind'”.
The director – best known for ‘Before Sunrise’ and ‘Boyhood’ – has shared his worries that indie and arthouse movies aren’t valued in the same way any more and he puts it down to changes in Hollywood as well as with viewers themselves – questioning whether cinema-goers truly value quality filmmaking any more.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “It feels like it’s [independent cinema] gone with the wind – or gone with the algorithm. Sometimes I’ll talk to some of my contemporaries who I came up with during the 1990s, and we’ll go: ‘Oh my God, we could never get that done today.’
“So, on the one hand, selfishly, you think: ‘I guess I was born at the right time. I was able to participate in what always feels like the last good era for filmmaking.’ And then you hope for a better day. But, man, the way distribution has fallen off. Sadly, it’s mostly just the audience. Is there a new generation that really values cinema anymore? That’s the dark thought.”
Linklater founded the Austin Film Society to create opportunities for aspiring moviemakers and he often meets young arthouse enthusiasts through the organisation, but he worries they are becoming a very small segment of the cinema-going public as a whole.
He is also convinced the way films are consumed has changed because of how modern life has evolved. The director added: “I think we could feel it coming on when they started calling films ‘content’ – but that’s what happens when you let tech people take over your industry. It’s hard to imagine indie cinema in particular having the cultural relevance that it did. It’s hard to imagine the whole culture is going to be on the same page about anything, much less filmmaking.
“We can be self-absorbed and say it’s just about cinema, but it’s really all of our modern cultural life. You could say the same things about reading books. A lot of young people can’t really read a book, because they’re just on their phones.”

Amy Dowden celebrates Strictly Come Dancing win at National Television Awards amid cancer battle

OHMYGOSSIP — Amy Dowden joined the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ crew on stage at the National Television Awards amid her cancer battle.
The 33-year-old professional dancer won’t be competing in the upcoming series after starting chemotherapy treatment last month following her breast cancer diagnosis earlier this year.
However, she attended the glitzy ceremony on Tuesday (05.09.23) night at London’s O2 and joined her co-stars on stage to accept the talent show prize.
After thanking the crew, judges and the pros, former contestant Fleur East – who is also the new host of ‘It Takes Two’ – said: “It’s extra special because we are joined by the fabulous Amy Dowden on stage who looks absolutely incredible.”
As the audience applauded, Amy’s fellow former contestant Tyler West added: “We love you Am, honestly.”
Amy appeared in a glamorous pink ruffled dress with a flowing skirt, and she was proudly sporting a Cancer Research UK badge on her chest.
She is battling a grade three tumour – which was discovered just before she jetted off on her honeymoon with her husband Ben Jones in April – after previously undergoing a mastectomy for breast cancer.
On top of that, the dancer was rushed to hospital with “life-threatening” Sepsis earlier last month after her first round of chemotherapy, but she’s still planning to feature on the programme when it returns in the autumn.
She told HELLO! magazine: “I’ve been on the phone to the ‘Strictly’ team today.
“They said they’re getting me some fabulous wigs ready [for any appearances].”
Amy – who has competed with the likes of McFly star Tom Fletcher, ‘EastEnders’ actor James Bye and reached the final with CBBC presenter Karim Zeroual in 2019 – previously admitted she would like to present parts of the series and will wear wig on television if she has to.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I’ll be present in some way, even if I’m in a wig. I know amazing hair people with ‘Strictly’. Whether it’s on ‘It Takes Two’, or being up in Claudia’s area waiting for the scores, I’ll be there.”

Susanna Reid replaced on Good Morning Britain in last minute switch

OHMYGOSSIP — Susanna Reid had to drop out of ‘Good Morning Britain’ at the last minute after the National Television Awards.
The 52-year-old presenter was due to be part of the ITV morning show as scheduled on Wednesday (06.09.23) but she has lost her voice and was replaced by Charlotte Hawkins alongside Ed Balls.
Appearing on the show from his dressing room, she told viewers: “I’m fine, I just can’t speak.
“I don’t know what’s happened. I don’t know whether it was the heatwave inflaming my vocal chords?”
Susanna pointed out that she was actually the first to leave the ceremony, and “there’s absolutely no reason” she should be struggling.
She added: “It’s funny because it was the NTAs last night and when I got in my cab to leave, the driver said, ‘You’re the very first person to leave the NTAs, you’re obviously not partying!?’
“And I don’t drink, I don’t smoke, so there’s absolutely no reason I can understand that I’ve lost my voice.”
Susanna apologised to any disappointed viewers, and thanked her colleague Charlotte for “stepping in”.
She said: “I’m really sorry, I can only apologise but thank you Charlotte for stepping in I did not to inflict this on our wonderful viewers for three hours.”
Susanna previously revealed she sets her alarm at 3:45am in order to get up for work but later has a nap in the afternoon, and after having eight cups of coffee in the morning she refuses to drink caffeine after lunchtime.
She said: “Thankfully, I love my job so I do bound out of bed. I think if you can have a nap, if you have the luxury of being able to do that, and I get myself back into bed, I find that that makes it better.
“I drink about eight cups of coffee. Or nine. I don’t drink a full mug though, it’s just little sips. They’re brilliant in the green room, aren’t they?
“But no caffeine after midday. I would not even have a cup of tea after midday because it would interrupt my sleep.”

The late judge – who died in April aged 78 after a battle with cancer – will be honoured as the cast of the BBC’s Latin and ballroom show share their fondest memories of the ‘Strictly’ icon.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “Len will be remembered in the launch show by some of the cast, including presenters, judges and pros who will talk about their memories of the beloved head judge.
“There will be some classic archive clips of Len including the dance that was dedicated to him when he bid the show farewell in 2016.”
The news will please pro dancer Graziano Di Prima, who previously suggested the competition should do “something” to remember the former head judge.
Back in May, he told The Sun newspaper: “I really hope something will happen to commemorate Len – I think one of his favourite dances, or something.”
News of former ‘Dancing With the Stars’ judge Len’s death was shared in April “with great sadness” from his wife Sue Barrett and son James.
A spokesperson for Len told BBC News: “It is with great sadness to announce that Len Goodman has passed away peacefully, aged 78. A much loved husband, father and grandfather who will be sorely missed by family, friends and all who knew him.”
Several of Len’s other former ‘Strictly’ co-stars also paid tribute to him, including the show’s presenters Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly.
Claudia tweeted: “A kind and brilliant man. Full of twinkle, warmth and wit. Sending so much love to his family and friends. We love you Len xx. (sic)”
Tess posted: “So very sad to hear the news today of the passing of our Len Goodman.
“A beautiful man, genuine, warm and humble, who left an impression on everyone he met. I’ll never forget the fun we had on set, his love and passion for dancing and that wonderfully cheeky smile lit up the screen.”

Lee Mack lied to fellow comedians about Inside No 9 role

OHMYGOSSIP — Lee Mack lied to Tim Key to keep his ‘Inside No. 9’ episode a secret.
The ‘Would I Lie To You?’ star shocked fans with his appearance in an episode of Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton’s horror comedy anthology series but the trio pulled the wool over everyone’s eyes.
Viewers thought they were would be seeing an ‘On the Buses’ parody called ‘Hold On Tight’, but it was replaced on the scheduled by new game show ‘3 by 3’ – hosted by Lee – which ended up being a very dark episode of ‘Inside No. 9’ after all.
The big reveal came at the very end, and Lee told RadioTimes.com: “It was very secretive – the hardest thing was actually keeping it quiet.
“Me and Steve Pemberton went out that night with Tim Key, and they’re good mates and I know Tim quite well, but we weren’t allowed to tell him.
“We had this weird conversation where I had to pretend to be doing something else – lying to him.”
The 55-year-old star started to panic that he would get rumbled if the story spread and people started to pick holes his lie.
Lee added: “I said I was doing a real quiz show, and he said, ‘Who for? Don’t you already do one?’
“And then I got worried that other people would find out and then I shouldn’t be doing another quiz show because I’m already doing one. It’s very messy.”
Meanwhile, Reece and Steve previously confirmed the show will end with its upcoming ninth and final series.
Taking to X – formerly Twitter – Reece recently confirmed: “We’ve been writing the last ever episode of ‘Inside No.9’ and it feels very strange and a bit said. But there you go. Everything must end.”
However, Steve previously teased: “You could easily do specials and stuff like that.
“But for us and for the poor audience… I think it’s good to know we are finishing after [season] 9, but we won’t say ‘lock the door and throw away the key.’ ”

‘We’re all immigrants’: Nia Vardalos deals with political topics in My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3

OHMYGOSSIP — Nia Vardalos wanted to tackle political themes in ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3’.
The 60-year-old actress has written and directed the new romantic comedy, in which she reprises the role of Toula Portokalos, and did not shy away from the topic of immigration.
Nia told Parade magazine: “This is the most political movie I’ve ever written.
“I said, ‘I’m going to write about this in a way that people will understand we are all humans.’ And it’s unfair that people are forced from their homes, pushed out by famine or war or loss of income, and pushed into a society that is not necessarily welcoming them.
“So I wrote about it in the new movie, interwoven as part of a giant braid of the bigger story. Nobody wants to be preached to, but we’re all immigrants, and that’s my message. That’s the theme of the third movie.”
Nia thinks she has plenty of similarities to her alter ego and regards herself as an “outsider” in the world of celebrity.
She said: “I still feel like an outsider in Hollywood. I’ll never feel like I fit in.
“I mean, if I’ve been invited to parties with famous people in the room, I’ll think, ‘Who cancelled? Why am I here?’
“I think I always write from the outside looking in. Toula is me; I am Toula. I just have better moisturiser now.”
John Corbett returns as Toula’s husband Ian and Nia thinks he has helped make the franchise a hit.
The ‘Connie and Carla’ star said: “We’ve had such a beautiful relationship.
“I love him as a human being, as a co-star and as my movie husband. I’m so grateful he said yes to the first movie. I don’t think we’d be successful if it wasn’t for John Corbett as Ian.”

‘People love seeing him deliver justice’: Antoine Fuqua credits Denzel Washington for The Equalizer’s success

OHMYGOSSIP — Antoine Fuqua thinks that fans of ‘The Equalizer’ love seeing Denzel Washington’s hero Robert McCall dish out “justice” to bad guys.
The 58-year-old director has directed the final installment of the vigilante trilogy and thinks that the Oscar-winning star is the main attraction for those who enjoy the franchise.
Antoine told Smallzy’s Surgery podcast: “They love seeing Denzel playing Robert McCall. He’s an interesting character and people love seeing him deliver justice to bad guys.”
The latest movie is set in Sicily and Fuqua quipped that he wanted to make the project in a place where he could rest in luxury.
Discussing the plot for the flick, the ‘Training Day’ filmmaker said: “He’s in Sicily trying to right a wrong that’s taken place and he finds himself reluctantly staying there in a small town on the Amalfi Coast.
“He discovers people who need his help. He just wants to leave but he can’t.
“I just wanted to relax a little bit and have some pasta.”
Antoine has led the promotion for the movie due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike but is happy being at the centre of attention.
Asked about the work that comes with publicising the flick, he said: “I enjoy it. I get to see people I haven’t seen in a while just to talk about the movie, I enjoy that part.”
Some of ‘The Equalizer 3’ was filmed in the city of Naples but Antoine explained how the production was blighted by bad weather that made it challenging to work in the area’s streets.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “Shooting on the streets of Naples in that weather — that was challenging. It’s hard to shoot there … This last one [movie] was the most difficult one. The streets of Naples are tough, and you’ve got a guy who’s really crawling barefoot in a real city with cold weather. That was tough.”

Shirley Ballas feels ’emotional’ over Strictly success: ‘I never imagined I’d be doing this at 62!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Shirley Ballas feels “quite emotional” over her career success.
The 62-year-old dancer has served as head judge on BBC Latin and ballroom competition ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ since 2017 and reminded fans of a certain age that whilst they may not have the “physique” they once had, they do not have to stop doing anything because she is the “happiest” she has ever been in her life.
She told Good Housekeeping magazine: “It actually makes me quite emotional. I never imagined in a million years that, at 62, I’d be doing all these things. But what I’d say to anyone in their 50s, 60s and beyond is that we might not have the physique we once had – you might take your knickers off and your bum falls down to your heels, or your boobs fall down to your belly button – but that doesn’t mean we have to stop doing things, does it? In many ways, I feel like these are the happiest years of my life.”
Shirley also recalled that she came from humble beginnings and that whilst she may have a “strong front” on screen, she is actually a “very sensitive” soul underneath.
She said: “I grew up on a housing estate in Wallasey in Merseyside, where life wasn’t always easy, and the soft, vulnerable side of me, which probably only my partner, Danny, has seen, often gets hidden away. I have a strong front, but underneath it all, I’m very sensitive.”
Meanwhile, the dance champion is mother to 37-year-old Mark with former partner Corky and admitted that she is “so excited” that she will soon be a grandmother for the first time.
She said: “I can’t tell you how excited I am. [My son] Mark told us the news in such a thoughtful way. I was in Las Vegas with his dad, Corky, because Mark was performing out there, and after the show his dog came in wearing a little bandana. It took us a while before we finally clocked that on the front of the bandana it said, ‘Baby on board’!”.

Sam Faiers enjoys huge success with her skincare brand

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Faiers’ skincare brand has achieved a turnover of £13.2 million since it launched in 2020.
The 32-year-old TV star – who first found fame on ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ – has already achieved impressive success with her Revive Collagen brand, which specialises in ready-to-drink collagen.
A source told MailOnline: “Sam is one savvy businesswoman. She risked it all by starting the business, especially during the uncertain times of the lockdown.
“She took no external investment and built the business from the ground up with her business partner.”
Sam and her business partner, John Bailey, are now looking to extend their reach and become the “global market leader in ingestible collagen”.
The insider explained: “With the business being profitable from day one and set to launch across the US next month, she firmly has her eyes set on becoming the global market leader in ingestible collagen.
“Whilst she’s had a couple of business failures along the way, she’s definitely struck gold with Revive Collagen.”
Earlier this year, Sam revealed that she risked everything to launch her beauty brand.
The reality star explained that she actually put off buying a house in order to invest in her company.
She told OK! magazine: “When we first decided to create the ingestible skincare brand, I put all my savings into it.
“We didn’t take any investment. It’s a huge risk, when you’ve got years of savings, and at the time we were renting in Surrey and searching to buy a house.
“That put me back from buying a house for a good year and a half. But the reason I did that is because I believed in it.
“I wanted it to be the creme de la creme of collagen. In my heart I knew I had something special. It’s like all of my dreams come true.”

Well they’ve obviously broke the reality TV thing now because they’ve got Zara [McDermott] on. They had Jamie Laing on it. They just need to break the one where they said they can’t have anyone that’s been on Dancing On Ice on it and then I’d be the first one hopefully.
“You never know, they’re surely running out of people to go on it now so I might get a call one day.”

Paul O’Grady’s career explored in new ITV documentary

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul O’Grady’s career will be the focus of a new ITV documentary.
The popular TV presenter – who died in March, aged 67 – is set to be remembered with a new special that will chart his journey from edgy drag queen Lily Savage to a beloved chat-show host.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “He occupies a special place in the hearts of everyone at ITV and this is part of paying further tribute to him.
“This is an interesting angle to take to look back on Paul’s career, but making the leap from edgy drag queen to a household name and star of teatime telly is a story worth exploring.”
Paul – who hosted ‘For The Love of Dogs’ on ITV for 11 seasons – died “unexpectedly and peacefully” at home, according to his husband Andre Portasio.
He said in a statement at the time: “It is with great sadness that I inform you that Paul has passed away unexpectedly but peacefully yesterday evening.
“He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, friends, family, animals and all those who enjoyed his humour, wit and compassion.
“I know that he would want me to thank you for all the love you have shown him over the years.”
Paul’s death was followed by lots of heartfelt tributes from his showbiz pals, including TV presenter Carol Vorderman.
She said on BBC Radio 4: “He just fizzed, he was one of those people that just made you feel every part of you was alive.
“He exploded through the daft, made-up rules of society. He was a massive talent, but you can’t forget he was a social worker when he was younger, he saved babies and young children from abuse, he lived in Soho before it was gentrified, he never judged the vulnerable, the weak, the misunderstood.”

Jill Dando’s family want Netflix documentary to help find her killer

OHMYGOSSIP — Jill Dando’s brother hopes a new Netflix documentary will help to find her killer.
The ‘Crimewatch’ presenter was shot dead on her doorstep in 1999, aged 37, and Netflix is set to release a new three-part series called ‘Who Killed Jill Dando?’, which will explore the unresolved murder case.
Nigel Dando, the brother of the TV star, told The Times newspaper: “My hope is that the publicity will bring forward someone with new information who can bring Jill’s killer to justice.
“I know [it was] a long time ago but someone might know something. My personal feeling is it was somebody looking for a kick and for notoriety.
“Jill was in the wrong place at the wrong time. There have been a number of names in the public domain and it might be one of them.
“I am looking for a case which would come to court with a guilty verdict which is not overturned, and the person responsible for Jill’s death to be jailed.”
In 2001, it was believed the legal matter was closed when Barry George, now 62, was found guilty of the crime. However, in 2008 he was acquitted of the murder.
Jane Moore, who features in the documentary, is also hopeful that it will help to solve the case.
She said on ‘Loose Women’: “Here we are 24 years on and still nobody has the answer to the question of who did this. I reported on it on the time. Her brother Nigel, who is also a journalist, feels that this could help bring somebody forward that might know something.
“It’s happened with other documentaries where it just triggers a memory, or people’s circumstances change or suddenly decide they will come forward with a piece of information and that is what he is hoping that this documentary will bring.”
