Martin Scorsese rewrote Killers of the Flower Moon and changed Leonardo DiCaprio’s role

OHMYGOSSIP — Martin Scorsese rewrote ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ and changed Leonardo DiCaprio’s role because over fears he was “making a movie about all the white guys”.
The ‘Taxi Driver’ director teamed up with Eric Roth to pen the script for the film based on David Grann’s 2017 book of the same name – which focused on the FBI investigation into the murders of Osage Native Americans in Oklahoma throughout the 1920s – with DiCaprio playing head investigator Tom White.
However, Scorsese ended up completely over-hauling the script and changing the story’s focus onto the character of Ernest Burkhart and his marriage to an Osage woman named Mollie.
The director has now explained why he made such drastic changes, telling Time magazine: “After a certain point, I realised I was making a movie about all the white guys. Meaning I was taking the approach from the outside in, which concerned me.”
After changing the script, Scorsese switched DiCaprio’s role – giving him the part of Ernest – while Jesse Plemons took on the role of Tom White, who became a supporting character.
Ernest’s wife Mollie is played by Lily Gladstone and she recently revealed she was surprised by the changes to the script which took place after her first audition.
She told Interview magazine: “Before the rewrites, I had three pages of some pretty mouthy dialogue. But I was struggling so much with the scenes that when COVID shut everything down and the project went quiet for a minute, I assumed that I’d blown the audition.
“About a year later, I got a request to Zoom with Martin Scorsese. And then I got new sides sent to me that had beats. Suddenly it was a scene that had minimal dialogue … And I was like: ‘Oh man, I can plug a character in here now. This is amazin’.”
She added of the changes: “I’d heard that the rewrites completely did a 180. Leo was supposed to be playing Tom White, Jesse Plemons’s character.
“The focus would’ve been the FBI, with Mollie and Ernest being part of the supporting storyline, instead of the central one.”

‘It’s the biggest disappointment of our careers’ Batgirl directors still devastated at movie’s axing

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Batgirl’ directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah have told how the movie’s axing is the “biggest disappointment” of their careers.
The pair helmed the unreleased DC superhero movie that was scrapped by the studio last summer due to a shift in filmmaking approach, and El Arbi admits one of the worst parts of the movie being ditched was that nobody could see Michael Keaton reprising his Batman role in their version.
He told Insider: “It’s the biggest disappointment of our careers.
“As a fanboy, just to be in the presence of Keaton as Batman, that’s just a privilege and an honour. But it’s a bittersweet feeling.”
Fallah added: “I felt like a kid on set working with Keaton. I totally forgot that I was directing.”
El Arbi also believes the movie should’ve been given a chance in theatres, because the audience is the pair’s “ultimate boss”.
He said: “We didn’t get the chance to show ‘Batgirl’ to the world and let the audience judge for themselves.
“Because the audience really is our ultimate boss and should be the deciders of if something is good or bad, or if something should be seen or not.”
The filmmakers found it tough to watch ‘The Flash’ following Batgirl’s axing.
El Arbi explained: “We watched it, and we were sad.
“We love director Andy Muschietti and his sister Barbara, who produced the movie. But when we watched it, we felt we could have been part of the whole thing.”
However, in January, the pair admitted they would be willing to work with Warner Bros. again.
El Arbi told Variety: “We’re fans of DC, and if we get the chance in the future to do something in that universe, we’re never gonna say no. I mean, of course, our only condition is that the movie needs to come out.”

Eamonn Holmes to officiate at Coronation Street legend’s wedding

OHMYGOSSIP — Eamonn Holmes is to officiate at the wedding of former ‘Coronation Street’ star Charlie Lawson.
The 63-year-old TV presenter was asked to preside over the nuptials of the ‘Corrie’ star, who has been engaged to fiancée Debbie Stanley for a decade, and he has accepted the offer.
Speaking on his and Isabel Webster’s GB News show, ‘Breakfast with Eamonn and Isabel’, Eamonn said: “I can’t go to a hotel where someone doesn’t come up and tap me on the shoulder and say, ‘My daughter’s getting married in the next room, you know, you wouldn’t go in and see them or whatever…’
“I got a phone call from a dear friend two weeks ago whose wedding I was going to and he said to me, ‘We don’t just want you to go to the wedding, we want you to conduct the ceremony.’
“So I’ve buried George Best, right? So his family phoned me and said, ‘We don’t want a priest or anything but we want you to do George’s funeral ceremony’.
“And now I’m going to marry Charlie Lawson, Jim McDonald from ‘Coronation Street’.”
Eamonn joked he is now considering a career as a preacher.
He added: “I should maybe become some sort of preacher.”
Charlie – who has played Jim McDonald on and off on the cobbles since 1989 – is yet to reveal the date or location of his upcoming nuptials.
But just this week, he shared a picture of Debbie on his Instagram account and confirmed the pair are going to tie the knot “very soon”.
He wrote: “The girl I’m gonna marry very soon.”

Paul King would ‘definitely’ make a Wonka sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul King wants to make a ‘Wonka’ sequel.
The 45-year-old director has revealed that he’d love to make another film about Willy Wonka, the fictional character from Roald Dahl’s ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’.
Paul told Total Film: “I would definitely like to do more. And I’d like to spend more time in this world.
“Dahl was definitely interested in taking Willy Wonka on. There’s drafts that didn’t really go anywhere, and there’s a short story. He didn’t really write sequels, but this was the one book where he clearly felt there was more in the tank there.”
‘Wonka’ stars the likes of Timothee Chalamet, Hugh Grant, Rowan Atkinson and Matt Lucas, and Paul admits that he’d love to “spend more time in this world”.
He explained: “There’s an awful lot more Wonka story that we have that we would like to tell.
“It’s not like ‘Dune: Part One’ where you go, ‘This is what’s happening in Part Two.’ Hopefully it works exquisitely as a stand-alone movie. But I would definitely like to do more. And I’d like to spend more time in this world, and meet some more Oompa Loompas.”
Paul previously revealed that he’s always been a huge fan of ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’.
The director recalled “absolutely loving” the book as a child.
He told GamesRadar: “I had a copy of ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ when I was little. I remember absolutely loving it and reading it cover to cover so often the pages fell out.
“I remember what I most liked about it was how funny it was, how Willy Wonka is this extraordinary, amazing, magical figure, the Oompa Loompas, and the brilliant poems that Dahl writes as their songs – they’re so funny, witty, and gleefully naughty, and that sense of naughtiness was very joyful to me.”

Patricia Arquette’s Gonzo Girl was ‘inspired’ by Hunter S. Thompson

OHMYGOSSIP — Patricia Arquette’s new movie has been inspired by Hunter S. Thompson.
The 55-year-old actress is making her directorial debut with a film adaptation of ‘Gonzo Girl’, which is based on the novel by Cheryl Della Prieta, and Patricia has now revealed that the movie has actually been inspired by the legendary writer, who died in February 2005, aged 67.
Patricia told Collider’s Perri Nemiroff: “I always loved Hunter S. Thompson, and it’s inspired by his spirit and him.
“It’s different, also. It’s fiction, it’s based on a book. But I love Hunter S. Thompson, and I love that world, and I loved the ‘90s growing up as a young woman.”
The film centres on a young woman and the struggles that she faces as she begins her life after college.
Patricia added: “I like this idea that it was some kind of a mix between a ‘90s movie and the ‘60s, kind of ‘70s world of Walker Reade’s character. I like this coming-of-age of this young woman – drugs, sex, rock and roll, creativity, writing, all of that – and how it’s so fun, and then once you crash and burn, it’s really ugly.”
The movie stars the likes of Camila Morrone and Willem Dafoe, and explores a range of different themes.
Discussing the themes of the film, the actress-turned-director said: “Co-dependency, addiction, writer’s block, all of these different kinds of themes – beauty as currency, how it is as a codependent to kind of have blurred lines and boundaries and put your self-esteem into everyone else and how that pays off. And it doesn’t, it’s not a pretty picture.”

Ender the road! Brian Conley confirms he has quit EastEnders

OHMYGOSSIP — Brian Conley has confirmed he is leaving ‘EastEnders’, and he will depart with the BBC’s “blessings”.
The 62-year-old actor and comedian has played Tom “Rocky” Cotton on the BBC One soap since May 2021, and while he admitted it was a “tough decision” to depart Walford, he made the choice for “many reasons”.
Speaking on YouTube, he said: “Hello lovely people it’s me Brian Conley, aka Rocky, sending out this message especially to all the ‘EastEnders’ fans.
“Now you may have heard reports that I am leaving ‘EastEnders’, and it was a tough decision but it is true – I am going, and I made the decision for many reasons.
“It is tough because there’s such a wonderful crowd in front of the camera and behind, and I loved my three years there.
“I have gone with their blessings at the Beeb and I am excited for the future and where it’s going to go.”
But Brian is “excited” for fans to see Rocky’s Albert Square exit, insisting it is “good”.
He added: “I’m also excited about Rocky’s exit as I know it’s good! Sending much love, all ‘EastEnders’ fans. Enough said.”
Brian’s comments come after it was recently reported he had quit the soap.
An ‘EastEnders’ insider told The Sun newspaper: “Brian was a brilliant signing and has been a big hit with fans.
“But it looks as though he’s just not enjoying being on ‘EastEnders’ anymore – and has been telling a lot of colleagues and telly friends he wanted out for a while.
“It’s all come to a head, and at the National TV Awards last week he was pretty open with co-stars and friends about his exit.”
Earlier this year, ‘EastEnders’ fans were shown a flash-forward scene that featured a male character’s dead body in the Queen Vic over the upcoming festive period.
It’s now thought Rocky could be drafted in as the dead body in place of another character.
An insider said: “There was always a plan for a major death at Christmas – but it wasn’t initially going to be this.
“If Brian wants out, it makes sense to switch it around.
“There’s time to do that before they start filming the Christmas storylines.”
But an ‘EastEnders’ spokesperson said: “There are many rumours and theories circulating about whose body is under the Christmas tree but, to not spoil the drama for the audience, we will not be commenting on any speculation.”

Strictly’s Angela Rippon inspired many pro dancers thanks to Come Dancing presenting job

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star Angela Rippon has been told her former show ‘Come Dancing’ was a big career inspiration for many professional dancers.
The ‘Rip-Off Britain’ host – who is the oldest contestant ever to take part in the BBC Latin and ballroom show, which is hosted by Claudia Winkleman, 51, and Tess Daly, 54 – has spoken to many fans who cite ‘Come Dancing’, which ran from 1949 to 1998, as the “reason” they got into dancing.
The 78-year-old broadcaster told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “One person came up and said, ‘You are the reason I am a professional dancer, because I used to persuade my mum to let me stay up and watch ‘Come Dancing’ when you were presenting it.
“At least three other guys and girls have come up and said, ‘Our teacher was a contestant when you were presenting the programme.’ ”
Angela revealed when she was approached to take part in the upcoming ‘Strictly’ series – which also features presenter Angela Scanlon, 39, soap star Bobby Brazier, 20, and ‘Channel 4 News’ anchor Krishnan Guru-Murthy, 57, among others – she wondered why she wasn’t asked a decade ago.
She said: “The first words out of my mouth were, ‘Why didn’t you ask me 10 years ago?’ ”
Angela – who will be judged by a panel that consists of Shirley Ballas, 63, Craig Revel Horwood, 58, Anton Du Beke, 57, and Motsi Mabuse, 42, when she takes to the floor with her as-yet revealed professional partner – feels there is “no pressure” on her since she only presented the former version of the programme, rather than performed on it.
She said: “There’s no pressure because I presented ‘Come Dancing’, I didn’t dance on it.
“This is just the other side of the coin. I’ve been around dancers a lot and it’s lovely to actually now be among dancers, doing it myself.”

Home and Away’s Lynne McGranger suffers facial injuries after road fall

OHMYGOSSIP — Lynne McGranger shocked friends and family with her facial injuries after she “face planted on the road”.
The ‘Home and Away’ star – who has played Irene Roberts since 1993 on the Australian soap – took to social media to share a selfie of her bloody face, the aftermath of taking a tumble on the road while she was taking a breather from prepping her daughter’s upcoming nuptials.
The 70-year-old soap veteran wrote on Instagram: “One minute walking your daughter and son-in-law’s dog with your MOG (mother of the groom) Nek minit you’ve face planted the road,” before adding a string of laughing emojis, showing she saw the amusing side of her fall.
Her co-star Sarah Roberts, 38, commented: “Oh gosh Lynnie! Sending love – I was hoping that was onset makeup.”
Their colleague Ethan Browne, 32, added: “Damn, that looks pretty badass! Hope you’re all good though Lynne.”
TV presenter Myf Warhurst, 50, wrote: “Oh take care of yourself x.”
‘My Kitchen Rules’ star Blake Proud, 34, added: “OMG. We hope you’re okay.”
Lynne gave fans an insight into her life in her 2021 memoir, ‘Acting Up: Me, Myself and Irene’, about how she has battled drug addiction and an eating disorder.
At the time of the book being published, she told Digital Spy: “To be honest, if there was any chance of me hurting someone’s feelings – or worse, getting sued – I’ve changed their name.
“With some past friendships, past acquaintances, people who may have come into my life and not left the greatest impression, I’ve changed names. I haven’t used their real name if I was going to offend anybody.
“I didn’t just want to do it about ‘Home and Away’ because my life up until then was very full as well with lots of life lessons in it.
“It’s certainly not squeaky clean, the book, but it’s not a tell-all. It’s a tell-some.”

Bread actress Jean Boht dies after battling vascular dementia and Alzheimer’s disease

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Bread’ actress Jean Boht has died aged 91.
The star, who portrayed Nellie ‘Ma’ Boswell in the Liverpool-set BBC sitcom – which ran from 1986 to 1991 – passed away on Tuesday (12.09.23), just a month after her composer husband Carl Davis died aged 86.
Jean’s family said in a statement: “It is with overwhelming sadness that we must announce that Jean Boht passed away yesterday, Tuesday September 12.
“Jean had been battling vascular dementia and Alzheimer’s disease with the indefatigable spirit for which she was both beloved and renowned.
“She was a resident at Denville Hall, the home for members of the theatrical profession.”
Jean also starred in sitcoms ‘I Woke Up One Morning’ and ‘Brighton Belles’, as well as two episodes of ‘Some Mothers Do ‘Ave Em’.
In the 1970s, she appeared in legendary TV shows ‘Grange Hill’, ‘Z Cars’, and ‘Last of the Summer Wine’, and starred in TV drama ‘Juliet Bravo’ in the mid-1980s.
Jean was also no stranger to Soapland, having made several guest appearances in BBC daytime soap ‘Doctors’, in 2000, 2006, 2007, 2010, and 2012.
She also starred in ‘The Bill’ and had several short stints in medical dramas ‘Casualty’ and ‘Holby City’, as well as appearing in teen drama ‘Skins’ in 2011.
In 2012, Jean admitted she didn’t watch ‘Bread’ back in the day, but later caught up on some episodes and she was “astounded at how good it was”.
She told the Liverpool Echo newspaper: “I never watched it at the time, it’s too horrendous for actors to see themselves on screen.
“So I had no idea what it looked like.
“But now when I catch it I am just astounded at how good it was and how very funny.
“I can understand why the public liked it so much.
“But then there was such a lot of lovely shows and characters around then.”
Jean’s husband Carl, who she married in 1970, died in August following a brain haemorrhage.
A statement from his loved ones said: “We are heartbroken to announce that Carl Davis (CBE) passed away this morning, following a brain haemorrhage.
“We are so proud that Carl’s legacy will be his astonishing impact on music. A consummate all-round musician, he was the driving force behind the reinvention of the silent movie for this generation and he wrote scores for some of the most-loved and remembered British television dramas.”
Carl’s work included the music for the BBC’s 1995 drama ‘Pride and Prejudice’, and he won a Bafta and an Ivor Novello award for his score to 1981 film ‘The French Lieutenant’s Woman’.

Roman Kemp pleads with government to provide more mental health support in schools

OHMYGOSSIP — Roman Kemp has pleaded with the government to provide more mental health support in UK schools.
The 30-year-old TV and radio presenter wants MPs to change their targets after the government agreed to place support teams in 36 per cent of schools – but he wants that increased to 100 per cent.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’, he said: “To say to someone 36 percent of schools can receive that (help) where’s the hope there? There’s no hope.”
Roman recently wrote an open letter to the government, calling for more mental health support in schools, but he is yet to receive a direct response.
However, he has inspired the government to change their target.
He added: “They haven’t responded to me directly but they’ve come back and they’ve gone, ‘We’ve moved it, it might go to 50 per cent. We’ll place mental health support teams in 50 per cent of schools by 2025.’
“My question would then be if that is a 50/50 chance that your child is going to receive proper mental health care, a space for them to go to if they’re feeling anxiety depression or suicidal thoughts.
“If you had two children in front of you and each of them is saying that they are feeling this way, how do you decide who is going to get the help?”
‘GMB’ presenter Susanna Reid replied: “That’s a jaw-dropping way of putting it.”
Roman’s campaigning comes after he was left devastated by the death of his fellow Capital FM worker, Joe Lyons, who took his own life aged 31 in August 2020.

‘She’s not given me any tips!’ Adam Thomas reveals Strictly ‘argument’ with dance teacher wife

OHMYGOSSIP — Adam Thomas has already had an “argument” with his wife about ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The former ‘Emmerdale’ star has told how he asked his dance teacher partner Caroline Thomas why she hasn’t ever taught him any moves over the years ahead of his debut in the BBC show, but she responded by asking why he hadn’t taught her to act, which he thought was a “very good point”.
He told The Sun newspaper: “She’s a dance teacher. But no, she’s not given me any tips.
“We literally had this argument the other day because I was like, ‘Why have you not taught me how to dance after all these years I’ve been with you?’ And she was like, ‘Well, you’ve never taught me how to act.’
“I was like, ‘Yeah, very good point actually!’ ”
Adam also joked his brothers, former ‘Coronation Street’ star Ryan Thomas and ex-‘Love Island’ star Scott Thomas, are “jealous” about him getting free spray tans for his ‘Strictly’ stint.
Asked if they are envious about his latest job, he said: “I think so, yeah. They’re more jealous about me getting a spray tan, if I’m being honest with you!
“But no, for me and my brothers, when I get a job, or when they get a job, we’re all so happy for each other.
“It’s amazing, we all go on that little journey together. They’ll be cheering me on.”
Adam admitted his recent rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis will “set him back a little bit” when it comes to his routines, but he is pain-free for now.
He said: “I’ve been through physio with the guys, they know what I can and cannot do.
“I’m just going to have to take it easy, and hopefully it’ll hold up. But right now, I’m in no pain.
“We’ll see on the lifts … I’m going to try my hardest, but look, it is going to set me back a little bit. I’m just going to try my best.”
Adam announced his diagnosis in August, revealing he had been to the doctor to get checked out after experiencing “a lot of pain” since January.
He wrote on Instagram at the time: “Well it’s my birthday tomorrow and I turn 35!!
“How did that happen, does this mean I should stop acting like a kid now haha. As much as I act like a kid, my body is telling another story…
“I’ve been in a lot of pain since January, it started with my knees and then traveled to my wrists, fingers and now ankles and toes.
“I never knew what was happening and finally after several blood tests and back and forth to doctors and hospitals, I’ve been diagnosed with rheumatoid Arthritis!
“I thought that was something people, later on in there life get… but that’s not the case, clearly!(sic)”

‘It keeps it really magical!’ Davina McCall wants to keep her relationship with Michael Douglas ‘private’

OHMYGOSSIP — Davina McCall wants to keep her relationship away from the spotlight to “keep it really magical”.
The ‘My Mum, Your Dad’ host – who split from her husband of 17 years Matthew Robertson, 54, in 2017 after welcoming three children, son Chester, 16, and daughters Holly, 21, and Tilly, 19 – has been dating celebrity hairstylist Michael Douglas, 49, for a number of years, but she is protective of their romance because she gives “so much” of herself “to the public” due to her TV career that she wants to keep something back.
The 55-year-old TV presenter told OK! magazine: “I give so much of myself to the public that I need something just for me.
“Privacy keeps our relationship special to us. There’s something lovely about it and that’s all it is. It keeps it really magical and I like that.
“I would never talk about how our relationship works, about arguments or even things like what we eat for breakfast and who drives the other crazy. I want to keep that for me.
“I will give you guys everything. But there are one or two things that I just want to keep to myself, and he’s one of them.”
Davina praised her “amazing” partner, and admitted she likes doing public appearances with him, but ruled out going into the “nitty-gritty” of their dynamic.
She said: “Michael is so funny, he’s just amazing. It’s nice to do things together like walking the red carpet at the NTAs, and it’s not like we’re purposefully trying to hide away from anyone. But when you get into a couple, people start asking you questions about the nitty-gritty and I just don’t want to share that.”

Memory filmmaker was warned Jessica Chastain would be ‘nightmare diva’ after Oscars win

OHMYGOSSIP — Michel Franco was told Jessica Chastain would be a “diva” and a “nightmare” on the set of ‘Memory’.
The 40-year-old actress won an Oscar last year for her leading role in ‘The Eyes of Tammy Faye’, and filmmaker Franco admitted some people expected her to be difficult on set.
During an interview at TIFF, Franco recalled people saying she would “show up and be a nightmare and be a diva”.
He added: “I told them, you don’t know half of it. She’s the opposite.
“She’s going to show up satisfied, happy, and be productive. People are so afraid of actors. I don’t know why.
“The worst way to approach an actor or any person is with fear, and if you are pointing in the wrong direction then, yes, all your nightmares will come true.”
Chastain stars as Sylvia in the new movie about a recovering alcoholic dealing with childhood trauma.
As part of the role, she appears on screen with no makeup, and didn’t have a trailer on set.
She said: “Because I have been doing bigger things sometimes and have gotten a lot of attention as of late, [there’s been the idea] that I would not be interested in being on a set without a trailer.
“We had the Oscars, and I won for Tammy Faye, and then right after that, I showed up on set to do Memory.
“Michel said that a lot of people told him, ‘Oh Jessica is going to leave your film because she just won an Oscar.’ ”
However, she noted she didn’t take up acting as a career “to be pampered”.
She explained: “If I want to be pampered, I’ll go to a spa. I’m doing a film to work and to be creative, and I don’t need to sit by myself in a trailer.”

‘They probably can’t afford us’ Amanda Seyfried reveals what it would take for Mamma Mia 3 to happen

OHMYGOSSIP — Amanda Seyfried isn’t sure Universal could “afford” to pay the ‘Mamma Mia’ stars what would be “fair” for a third movie.
The 37-year-old actress, who starred as Sophie Sheridan in the 2008 ABBA musical movie and reprised the role in the 2018 sequel, would love to return for a third instalment, but she believes whether it happens or not is likely to “come down to something stupid like whether or not Universal wants to pay the money”.
She told Vogue magazine: “Nobody is saying no, but nobody is saying yes either.
“The powers that be probably can’t afford us to be honest.
“I hate to say it, because would I do ‘Mamma Mia 3’ for free – of course I would – but that’s not the business we’re in.
“What’s fair is fair, and I feel like a third film is gonna come down to something stupid like whether or not Universal wants to pay the money.”
Universal Pictures chairman Donna Langley has admitted the company are interested in making ‘Mamma Mia 3’.
She told the publication: “Universal would love to make a third movie, and I’ll leave it at that.”
And Meryl Streep is keen for a third movie if the storyline “excites” her, despite her character Donna being dead.
She said: “I’m up for anything. I’ll have to schedule a knee scoping before we film, but if there’s an idea that excites me, I’m totally there.
“I told Judy if she could figure out a way to reincarnate Donna, I’m into that.
“Or it could be like in one of those soap operas where Donna comes back and reveals it was really her twin sister that died.”
She joked: “We may have to call it ‘Grand-Mamma Mia!’ by the time we make it!”
But Stellan Skarsgard, who portrays Bill Anderson, doesn’t think a script will appear anytime soon.
He quipped: “I will be in an urn by the time there’s a script for ‘Mamma Mia 3’, but I will gladly participate as a pile of ashes.”
In January, Seyfried admitted she was “still waiting for the call” to join a third ‘Mamma Mia!’ film.

‘It’s quite heartbreaking…’ Gorka Marquez considered quitting Strictly Come Dancing before son’s birth

OHMYGOSSIP — Gorka Marquez considered quitting ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ because he didn’t want to miss out on time with his newborn son.
The 33-year-old professional dancer and his partner Gemma Atkinson, 38, welcomed their second child Thiago into the world two months ago, but just days later Gorka had to head from Manchester to London to start rehearsals for the upcoming series of the BBC Latin and ballroom show.
Speaking in Wednesday (13.09.23) nights episode of ‘Gemma and Gorka: Life Behind The Lens’ filmed before the birth, Gorka said: “It’s quite heartbreaking you know, to have to leave again a few days after Gemma gives birth and not be at home.
“In my head, it makes me think I want to quit and just be at home for the next three months, but at the same time, I need to do my job and work.”
Gorka was in a similar situation with their daughter Mia, four, when ‘Strictly’ rehearsals clashed with her birth.
Elsewhere in the episode, the dancer admitted his worries over potentially missing the birth of their baby boy, as she was pregnant just 12 years before he had to go back to work.
He said: “I really don’t want to miss the arrival of my son, so I am on a mission to speed things up.”
Thankfully for the proud parents – who met on ‘Strictly’ in 2017 – the actress went into labour four days later, and her partner was able to be there.
After spending some quality time together for a few days, Gemma was devastated as Gorka – who was also emotional – had to leave for five days of rehearsals.
She admitted: “Normally I’m fine with him going away and I will be fine this time, but I feel bad more for Mia now because she misses him so so much.
“I always say to him ‘she’s fine, she’s fine’ but sometimes she’ll cry for him and stuff but I don’t tell him because I don’t want him to be distracted at work, it won’t change anything.
“So we do the whole ‘everything’s fine’ and then when he looks the other way I go [fakes crying].”

Michael Parkinson ‘laid to rest in private funeral’

OHMYGOSSIP — TV legend Sir Michael Parkinson has been laid to rest in a private funeral.
Mourners gathered to honour the late chat show king, who passed away “peacefully” aged 88 last month, at St Michael’s Church in Bray, Berkshire.
A scarf of football team Barnsley FC – who he supported – was placed on his coffin, alongside a cricket cap to recognise the late star being a big fan of the game.
Barnsley group The Grimethorpe Colliery Band performed the theme tune from his TV talk show ‘Parkinson’, on which he interviewed several high-profile celebrities, including the likes of Muhammad Ali, Sir Elton John, Madonna, Dame Helen Mirren, and Sir Billy Connolly.
Afterwards, 90 of Michael’s close friends and family members headed to The Hind’s Head pub in the village to celebrate his life.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “It was a very dignified send-off for a man who remained understated and classy to the end.
“Everyone was in good spirits remembering him and his achievements. It was perfect.”
Songs by Frank Sinatra, Michael’s favourite singer, played in the background as mourners shared stories of the star’s glittering career.
Michael’s death was confirmed by his family in August.
They said in a statement: “After a brief illness Sir Michael Parkinson passed away peacefully at home last night in the company of his family.
“The family request that they are given privacy and time to grieve.”
Michael – who was knighted in 2008, and made a CBE in 2000 – estimated he interviewed more than 2,000 guests throughout his career in more than 800 episodes of his show.
He previously said his chat with legendary boxer Ali was his favourite.
