Fred Sirieix in talks for I’m A Celeb

OHMYGOSSIP — Fred Sirieix is in talks for ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’.
The 51-year-old ‘First Dates’ star is set to head to the Australian jungle for the ITV reality TV show, despite previously saying he would hate to do a bushtucker trial.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “Show bosses hope he’ll be a hit with the ladies watching, which is part of the reason they’ve targeted him.
“Everyone’s really excited that they’re close to signing him up.”
This comes less than a year after Fred ruled out appearing on the show.
He previously told HELLO! magazine: “I don’t think I’d do ‘I’m a Celebrity’. I wouldn’t be too keen on eating a camel’s anus or something like that.
“I know I eat frogs, I’m French, but at least those frogs are cooked! They are deliciously prepared, whereas a camel’s anus is put in a blender and you have to eat it raw. It’s awful. I know people who have been there – it’s really not ‘gastronomie’.”
However, he admitted he would love to compete in rival channel BBC’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’
He said: “I got a taste of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ when I did the quickstep with Dianne Buswell for the Christmas Special. Oh my god, it was hard! It took me three weeks just to nail that 90-second routine. I only nailed it on the Sunday night just before the show, after almost a month of rehearsals. Dianne was so great, very patient with me. It must have been so frustrating for her to have to rehearse the same steps with me over and over again.
“Would I do the whole series? I’d love to, but it would be impossible this year, I’m just too busy.”

Brian Conley quit EastEnders over panto

OHMYGOSSIP — Brian Conley quit ‘EastEnders’ after BBC bosses banned the cast from taking part in lucrative pantomimes next year.
The 62-year-old actor and comedian has played Tom “Rocky” Cotton on the BBC One soap since May 2021, but decided to leave the show after bosses asked him to choose between panto and filming for the soap’s 40th anniversary celebrations.
A TV insider told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “Often in milestone celebratory years like the 40th anniversary, bosses need to have all cast available so that they can storyline appropriately up to and beyond December to guarantee that level of drama for audiences.
“There’s a real buzz around the anniversary with plans already underway to bring audiences some explosive storylines.
“Filming for February usually takes place before Christmas, so for those wanting to do a five-week run would mean the show would be unable to use them in any of their plans relating to the anniversary.”
A spokeswoman for the show said: “As previously stated by Brian Conley earlier in the week, EastEnders are fully supportive of Brian’s decision to leave at the end of his contract and we wish him the very best for the future.
“‘EastEnders’ cast take part in panto every year, but as we lead up to our milestone 40th anniversary, all cast members have been asked to be involved for storyline purposes.
“We’ve received no complaints. In fact everyone has been supportive of the plan.”
Brian previously admitted it was a “tough decision” to depart Walford, but said he made the choice for “many reasons”.
Speaking on YouTube, he said: “Hello lovely people it’s me Brian Conley, aka Rocky, sending out this message especially to all the ‘EastEnders’ fans.
“Now you may have heard reports that I am leaving ‘EastEnders’, and it was a tough decision but it is true – I am going, and I made the decision for many reasons.
“It is tough because there’s such a wonderful crowd in front of the camera and behind, and I loved my three years there.
“I have gone with their blessings at the Beeb and I am excited for the future and where it’s going to go.”

Paul Dano’s 80 takes for final Batman confrontation

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Dano used “70 or 80 takes” for the Riddler’s final confrontation with Batman in 2022’s ‘The Batman’.
Director Matt Reeves revealed perfectionist Paul took two days and a huge number of takes to get the scene with Robert Pattinson (Batman / Bruce Wayne) exactly right.
He told The Guardian: “Paul loves doing a lot of takes, as do I. We took two days on the final scene between him and Robert Pattinson as Batman. We must have easily done 70 or 80 takes. Paul loves exploring. He’s obsessive that way.”
And, Paul, 39, kept Matt on his toes by changing up scenes at the last minute.
Matt explained: “There were all these moments as the Riddler where he’d be tickled by something and then fly into a rage, and you never knew from take to take where that switch would come. I’d be sitting there with the headphones on, trying to stifle my laughter because he’d always do something surprising. Paul would ask me: ‘Was that crazy? Was that too much?’ I’d say: ‘No it’s fantastic. Let’s do another.’”
Meanwhile, Paul also admitted he finds it strange to now be considered an elder on set but he is enjoying sharing his advice with younger stars.
He said: “I’m glad I’ve graduated to a new class of character. The work has to meet your life in some way. It’s offering you something you need somehow. It’s really a trip to have been the 18-year-old on movie sets and to now have 18-year-olds asking you questions, and you’re the adult.”

Steve Martin hits back at Miriam Margolyes’ claims

OHMYGOSSIP — Steve Martin is disputing accusations his ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ co-star Miriam Margolyes made about him in her memoir.
After Miriam, 82, claimed he hit her while being careless with a fake punch on the set of the 1986 movie, Steve, 78, issued a lengthy statement insisting he used “extreme caution” during the scene.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “When I first read Miriam Margolyes pejorative account of our scene in ‘Little Shop of Horrors’, I was surprised. My memory is that we had a good communication as professional actors. But when it is implied that I harmed her or was in some way careless about doing the stunts, I have to object. I remember taking EXTREME caution regarding the fake punch — the same caution I would use with any similar scene.
“There was never any physical contact between her and me, accidental or otherwise, in this scene or any other we shot.”
Director Frank Oz added in his own statement: “I always rehearse physical actions in slow motion. The scene was supposed to include a fake punch. It’s puzzling what she’s talking about. It’s not the Steve I know or anyone knows. He’s always been professional and respectful of everyone on all of my shoots.”
In her new memoir ‘Oh Miriam! Stories From an Extraordinary Life’, Miriam wrote: “I was hit all day by doors opening in my face; repeatedly punched, slapped and knocked down by an unlovely and unapologetic Steve Martin — perhaps he was Method acting — and came home grumpy with a splitting headache.”
She added that he was “undeniably brilliant but horrid to me”.
Miriam starred as a dental assistant to Steve’s character, Orin Scrivello.
During the song ‘Dentist!’ Scrivello punches her and slams a door in her face.

Krishnan Guru-Murthy’s wife not worried about Strictly curse

OHMYGOSSIP — Krishnan Guru-Murthy’s wife is not worried about the ‘Strictly’ curse.
The 53-year-old Channel 4 newsreader has signed up to compete in this year’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ but said his wife Lisa knows there is no chance he’ll strike up a romance with a co-star.
He told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “She’s really relaxed and not at all worried. It’s all nonsense, especially for people at my end of the age spectrum.
“I’m not really across the gossip of ‘Strictly’ years gone past, but I honestly don’t think the curse is something anyone needs to worry about when it comes to me.
“I’m very happily married and old enough to be the father of most of the dancers.”
While the couple’s daughter is as excited as Lisa is about Krishnan taking part, he admitted their son doesn’t really share their enthusiasm.
He explained: “He’s asking me about it lots, and he’s keen to see the pictures and videos.
“He’s in a band and playing on the nights of the first two shows, so he wouldn’t be able to watch anyway.
“But he’s not showing any great enthusiasm to come at the moment.”
Meanwhile, Krishnan admitted he is shocked that he is taking part in ‘Strictly’.
He explained: “Traditionally I’ve always thought ‘Strictly’ is one of the last things I’d ever do.
“But this year I just felt differently about it and said, ‘You know what? I think I want to do this now. It feels like the right time’.
“I’ve been at Channel 4 News for 25 years and that feels like quite a milestone, and you think the audience has kind of grown up with me, from ‘Newsround’ to now, so they know who I am.
“In the past I worried about how people would see me and think, ‘What is this idiot doing?’. But now I’m not.”

The 44-year-old former boxer – who retired from the sport in 2012 – is preparing to start training for the show, which returns to screens in January, and has no qualms about getting stuck in on the ice.

He said in the documentary: “Drugs felt like a replacement. If you’re in a bad place, it gives you a false reading.
“I kept a lot of it hidden. I didn’t care. I just didn’t want to live. But I’m done with all the bulls**t. I just want to be happy with my family now. Too many bad times. Enough’s enough.”
News of Ricky’s decision to sign up for the skating show comes shortly after it was revealed S Club singer Hannah Spearritt – who pulled out of the group’s upcoming reunion tour following the death of bandmate Paul Cattermole – will also be taking part.
A source previously told The Sun newspaper: “Hannah is raring to go for Dancing On Ice and is working hard in training. Things have been tough with Hannah over the past 12 months and she hopes that appearing on the show will give her a much needed boost.
“Hannah is a seasoned performer and a great dancer so there is a good chance that she could go far in the series, as long as she nails the skating.”
Stephen Mulhern is rumoured to be replacing Phillip Schofield as co-host of the show alongside Holly Willoughby.

And Nikita insisted Layton’s previous dance experience doesn’t matter.

Martin Clunes to star in new drug dealer drama

OHMYGOSSIP — Martin Clunes is to star in a new six-part drama about county lines drug dealers.
The ‘Doc Martin’ star is to play the lead role in ITV’s ‘Out There’ starring as farmer Nathan Williams who is “confronted with dark forces seeping into his rural community” as gangs take over the countryside to move money and drugs out of cities with his teenage son being swept up in the chaos.
The show reunites Clunes with his ‘Manhunt’ director Marc Evans writer Ed Whitmore and the actor is thrilled to be taking on the new role, saying: “I’m very happy to be working with Marc Evans and Ed Whitmore again after the success of Manhunt. Out There couldn’t be more different from ‘Doc Martin’. It’s pretty dark, but definitely a story worth telling.”
ITV’s Head of Drama Polly Hill added: “‘Out There’ is a brilliantly compelling drama, from the team behind ‘Manhunt’, where county lines become very real for a father and son already dealing with the modern challenges of running a farm. Martin Clunes is wonderful as Nathan, in a drama full of surprises, as he tries to navigate the best way to save his son, in a world he doesn’t understand.”
Whitmore – who is acting as both writer and executive producer on the show – explained he wanted to lift the lid on a particularly nasty side of drug gangs. He said: “County lines is a particularly vicious and ruthless wave of drug dealing that uses fear and violence to coerce, often vulnerable, young people into working as runners and dealers. It has become a serious and rapidly increasing problem across the whole of the UK, so it felt like an important and timely story to tell.
“I’ve always been fascinated by the notion of things being hidden in plain sight and the way in which different social worlds can co-exist cheek-by-jowl until, one day, they collide. The fundamental premise of ‘Out There’ – a widowed farmer who discovers that his son has fallen foul of county lines – immediately spoke to me as a story I wanted to tell.”

Bobby Brazier hasn’t seen Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Bobby Brazier has never seen ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The ‘EastEnders’ actor is taking part in the new series of the BBC Latin and ballroom competition and admitted he doesn’t really know what to expect because he hasn’t watched any of the previous 20 seasons.
He admitted: “I’ve never watched the show, so I’ll be coming in fresh!”
But Bobby has sought advice from co-star James Bye, who was voted off in week six last year.
Asked if any previous contestants had given him advice, he said: “James Bye told me to eat a lot!”
Although he hasn’t watched the show before, the 20-year-old actor was delighted to be asked to be involved because he loves dancing so much.
He said: “I was always going to say yes, whether it was this year, last year, the next year because I love dancing. That’s it – whether it was on TV or not, the opportunity to dance with a professional dancer, and learn a different style of dancing every week is just my idea of a good time….
“I just love dancing so if I’m at a party, I dance, if I’m at home I dance…I’m always dancing.”
But Bobby has done little to prepare since he signed up.
He admitted: “I’ve done absolutely nothing. These dancers are the fittest people I’ve ever met, they’re like, robots – dancing machines! Maybe I’ll start stretching a little bit. As far as dancing, my whole life has been a preparation – I’m not a trained dancer but I love to dance.”
Bobby is hoping to impress the judges with some of his favourite moves.
He said: “Well, the caterpillar I don’t pull it out very often. But it’s the worm backwards…. so that’s a good’un. I just had to move my hips and my shoulders and you know, feel the rhythm.”
‘Strictly Come Dancing’ starts on Saturday (16.09.23) at 6.35pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

OHMYGOSSIP — John Carpenter has returned to directing for the first time in 13 years.
The 75-year-old ‘Halloween’ moviemaker hasn’t been back in the director’s chair since he helmed 2010 movie ‘The Ward’ but it’s now been confirmed he has taken charge of an episode of his new unscripted series ‘John Carpenter’s Suburban Screams’ for the Peacock channel – giving horror fans hope of a potential return to film.
The TV show is said to feature real life tales of terror from American small towns with dramatised reenactments, first-hand accounts and documents from personal archives.
A official description reads: “[It] focuses on one true tale of terror, told by the real people who lived through it. Donald Glover’s Lando TV series now being made as a movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Donald Glover’s planned ‘Lando’ TV series is now being developed as a movie.
The 39-year-old actor first played Lando Calrissian in 2018’s ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ and it was announced in December 2020 that a spin-off show was in the works, but now the star’s brother, Stephen Glover has revealed the project is now being developed for the big screen, though it is currently on hold due to the ongoing writers’ strike.
Stephen, who is developing the project with his brother, told the ‘Pablo Torre Finds Out’ podcast: “It’s not even a show…the idea right now is to do a movie. Right now, because of the strike, it’s kind of like telephone, all of the information.”
Lucasfilm then confirmed to Variety that the movie was being made instead of the TV series.
Donald previously insisted he wouldn’t make a spin-off if the story wasn’t right.
He told GQ magazine in April: “I’m not interested in doing anything that is going to be a waste of my time or just a paycheque.
“I would much rather spend time with people I enjoy. It just has to be the right thing, which I think it could be.
“Lando is definitely somebody I’d like to hang out with. We’re talking about it. That’s as much as I can say.”
Billy Dee Williams famously first played the space smuggler in 1980’s ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ and again in follow-up ‘Return of the Jedi’, before reprising the role for a third time years later in 2019’s ‘Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker’.
Donald previously opened up about meeting the 86-year-old star before filming ‘Solo’.
He told The Hollywood Reporter in 2017: “I was like, ‘I’ve always felt like this character could do this, and he represents this, and I kind of feel like he comes from here, and it’s very obvious he has a lot of taste, so maybe he grew up seeing that from afar? Because I’m like that. Maybe he saw it from other planets and was like, ‘I want to be that.’
“He just let me ramble on and on, and then finally I was like, ‘So, what do you think?’ And he goes, ‘Yeah, I don’t know about all that. Just be charming.’“

Jodie Prenger has special Coronation Street memento from the Rovers Return

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Coronation Street’ star Jodie Prenger kept the first glass from the first pint she ever poured in the Rovers Return as barmaid Glenda Shuttleworth.
The 44-year-old actress has proven to be very popular with viewers since joining the ITV soap as bold and brassy Brenda – the sister of funeral director George Shuttleworth, played by Tony Maudsley – and she just couldn’t resist keeping the memento from the Weatherfield pub.
She spilled: “I shouldn’t say this but I did keep the first pint glass I ever poured. It’s sad that isn’t it? I’ve joined the sad train, I’m not getting off, I don’t care. I’m really happy about it.”
Jodie is following in the footsteps of legendary Rovers barmaids like Betty Williams (Betty Driver), Tina McIntyre (Michelle Keegan) and Bet Lynch (Julie Goodyear), but she insists she can’t live up to their legacies and just has to do her best as Glenda.
Appearing on the ‘Conversation Street’ podcast, she said: “I can’t… they’re iconic. Your Julie Goodyears and people like that, she was that icon. I never, ever put myself in those positions I just work as hard as I can and get on with it and hope someone likes it.
“I think you have to be quite brass with the people you work with and the punters. You have to spin them a penny. I think it’s the fun element. One thing I always grew up loving with Corrie is on the darkest days they can still have a good laugh, and I love that.
“I do find that when you get people coming into the Rovers, no matter what character it is, and they’re having a bad day and Glenda can say something a little bit funny they can have a laugh and share a moment. I get to say the scripts that I grew up loving so I’m extremely lucky in that regard.”
Jodie – who was crowned the winner of BBC talent show ‘I’d Do Anything’ to find an actress to play Nancy in ‘Oliver Twist’ back in 2008 – has teased there’s a lot more to come Glenda, including a love interest, which she wants sooner rather than later.
She said: “I don’t know how much I can say but she’s been doing a lot of flirting lately, I made myself blush with one of them!
“It would be great to have a love interest. I don’t think in true Glenda fashion, and in what’s been said prior, I don’t feel it would go well, which I think might be fun to watch. She’s obviously not been lucky in love.
“I think they’re all taken aren’t they, I’m not having anyone’s cast-offs!”

Carol McGiffin was a serial shoplifter

OHMYGOSSIP — Carol McGiffin was a serial shoplifter as a child.
The 63-year-old former ‘Loose Women’ star has confessed she started pinching items from shops when she was just three years old and her crime spree continued until she was 12 when she was caught stealing “Sellotape and a pottery horse” from Woolworths.
In her column for Best magazine, Carol explained: “When I was three, I used to pop along to Woolworths and steal mouth organs and stash them in the cupboard.
“Later, at age 12, me and a bunch of friends went on a Christmas shoplifting spree, again in Woolworths, where I was caught with Sellotape and a pottery horse in my bag.”
Carol revealed police were called to the scene and they took her home to her parents – giving her a stern warning in a bid to stop her committing any more crimes.
She went on: “The police were called and took me home, where they proceeded to scare the pants off me with threats of a criminal record, which would probably have ruined my life.”
The warning worked and Carol swore off shoplifting for life, adding: “I never did it again.”
The telly star added she was shocked to find out a change in the law means shoplifters face a punishment of “a fixed penalty fine by post of £70” if the items they take value under £200.
She wrote: “When I read the headline ‘Shoplifters must face law, even for sub-£200 crimes’, I did a double take. What? So as long as you tot up your haul as you go and keep it under 200 quid, you’re good to go? Yes.”
