‘If enough people watched it on Hulu and everyone’s begging for it, we’ll talk’: Kaitlyn Dever horror No One Will Save You sequel not ruled out

OHMYGOSSIP — Kaitlyn Dever’s horror sci-fi flick ‘No One Will Save You’ wasn’t intended to have a sequel, but the director won’t rule it out.
Director Brian Duffield has said that if enough people want a follow-up he will consider it, however, he admits it would be a hard task to make a franchise out of the story.
He told Slash Film: “I am not the biggest sequel guy. I joked with [star] Kaitlyn [Dever], maybe it’s every seven years, we’ll do our Before Sunset and we’ll save you. I could do a sequel. I have no plans to do a sequel. If enough people watched it on Hulu and everyone’s begging for it, we’ll talk. There’s not a franchise super plan in my head yet. It would take a lot of work then I’d be so stressed out that I have to come up with something.”
Horror legend Stephen King is among the fans of the Hulu flick.
He wrote on X: “NO ONE WILL SAVE YOU: Brilliant, daring, involving, scary. You have to go back over 60 years, to a TWILIGHT ZONE episode called “The Invaders,” to find anything remotely like it. Truly unique. (sic)”
The 26-year-old actress plays Brynn Adams – a young woman who lives in near isolation, having been ostracized from her hometown following an incident from when she was a child. Though she is filled with grief and guilt about the past, she tries to live as cheerful a life as possible… but that constructed peace all gets destroyed when extraterrestrial visitors invade her house.”

Myleene Klass: ‘I was a Jungle Legend for five seconds at home!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Myleene Klass loved being able to compete on ‘I’m A Celebrity: South Africa’ as a mother.
The 45-year-old singer – who has daughters, Ava and Hero with ex-husband Graham Quinn as well as Apollo with partner Simon Motson – won the survival show’s spin-off series earlier this year and was crowned the first ever Jungle Legend and explained the opportunity was “brilliant” for her children because they weren’t around when she competed in the 2006 edition of the show.
She told Metro newspaper’s Sixty Seconds column: “They weren’t around for the first one and they liked the fact that in All Stars everything was bigger and scarier! But it was great and so brilliant to bring that crown home for the five seconds they acknowledged that I was a legend. There’s nothing as humbling as children!”
Meanwhile, the former ‘Loose Women’ panellist – who shot to fame alongside the likes of Kym Marsh when they won a place in Hear’Say via the reality show ‘Popstars’ in 2002 and these days also has her own fashion range but has also helped change laws surrounding pregnancy loss after suffering four miscarriages herself – explained that she has had to “hustle hard” to get where she is and has “never” stayed in her lane when it comes to her career.
She said: “It’s a difficult question to answer – I’ve never stayed in my lane, much to the frustration of many, I’m sure.
But you can change a tyre, listen to Mozart and play Madonna. Women aren’t one-dimensional. I love challenging what Westminster deems should be right for us. I love making sure that my children see that I’m practising what I preach and it’s within their reach, too. I’m state educated. I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth – I had to go out and hustle hard.

Corrie star Sue Cleaver signs up for BBC show

OHMYGOSSIP — Sue Cleaver is set to take part in the next series of ‘Pilgrimage’.
The 60-year-old actress has played the part of Eileen Grimshaw on ITV1 soap opera ‘Coronation Street’ since 2000 but will reportedly be swapping the cobbles for the BBC Two reality show that sees famous faces of different faiths go on a tackle a medieval pilgrimage.

Towards the end of last year, Sue – who had small roles in Kay Mellor’s ‘Band of Gold’ and Victoria Wood’s ‘Dinnerladies’ before landing her signature role as cab office worker Eileen – stepped away from the cobbles to compete in ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’ and in August became a guest panellist on lunchtime chat show ‘Loose Women’.
The soap star revealed upon turning 60 that she was looking forward to taking on “new challenges” in her next decade but insisted that while she had lost some weight in the jungle, she was not “obsessed” with taking on fad diets.
She told Prima magazine: “I lost some weight in the jungle, but I’m not obsessing over diets: life is hard enough! There’s always going to be outside pressure and unfair expectations placed on women, but I refuse to get pulled into it.
“My 50s have been the happiest decade of my life. I’m happy with me and where I am, so I’m looking forward to seeing what the next decade brings.
“Then again, if it doesn’t bring anything, I’m just going to have to make something happen myself. Since doing I’m A Celeb, my eyes have been opened to all these new experiences. Now, I’m just thinking, ‘Right, what’s my next challenge?’

Danny Dyer says soaps are more ‘powerful’ than politics

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Dyer says soaps like ‘EastEnders’ are more “powerful” than politics.
The 48-year-old actor appeared on the BBC One soap opera as Mick Carter from 2013 until 2022 and revealed that viewers felt encouraged to come out to their dads after Mick’s son Johnny Carter (Sam Strike) was honest with him about his sexuality.
While appearing at the BFI, he said: “I had a lot of guys contact me after the storyline about my son coming out, saying they came out the next day to their dads.
“Because of that. F***** hell, that is a platform, that is powerful sh***. They listen to us more than these c*** politicians. When they get it right, it is f******amazing that show. Whatever it was, it worked. If you can come out to Danny Dyer… whatever that means… it is ok. The producers are very clever.”
The ‘Heat’ star – who has daughters Sunnie, 16, and Dani, 27, with his partner Joanne Mas, 46 – also attributed becoming a resident of Walford as saving his career after a string of “bad films” and being stuck doing nightclub appearances.
He said: “I had made too many bad films and I was reduced to going to nightclubs and waving off the balcony in places like Kidderminster.
“I couldn’t put the kids through school anymore. I had f***ed it and then I get a call from Dominic Treadwell Collins, who asked me to come down and meet him at The Langham Hotel and I had just about enough petrol to get there! It changed my life and it changed my f***ing career as well.”
Danny shared how he “bamboozled” the bosses with his “cockney slang” and his dream to be an “iconic character” but not too obvious.
He said: “I absolutely bamboozled them with cockney slang. I did it just to wind them up “My first line: ‘has anyone seen my haddock?’ Haddock and Bloater is a motor. I have never really used the word haddock before but I wanted to do something different with it.
“I wanted to be an iconic character in ‘EastEnders’. I didn’t want to be shouty. I wanted it to be nuanced and play it down a bit. They gave me freedom with it.”

Love Island Faye Winter slams banning controversial XL Bully as ‘disgusting’

OHMYGOSSIP — Faye Winter labelled calls to ban the controversial XL Bully “disgusting”.
The former ‘Love Island’ star slammed Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s suggestion that the breed – which has been responsible for a string of headline-grabbing attacks like the one that lead to the death of Jonathan Hogg, 37, in after being mauled by one of the dogs in Greater Manchester – as she believes “there is no such thing as bad dog” as she blames the owner, instead of the pooch.
The 28-year-old influencer told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I think it is disgraceful that we’re looking to even ban the breed at all. I think if we ban the breed we’ll have bad dog owners moving on to other breeds, there is no such thing as a bad dog.
Faye – who has a golden retriever named Bonnie and volunteers with Guide Dogs UK – admitted there were problems like “overbreeding” and being “in the wrong hands” but thinks its better than to get to the “root” of the issue instead of issuing a blanket ban.
She continued: “Is there overbreeding? Yes. Are dogs in the wrong hands and can they become aggressive? Absolutely. Can they be weapons? Yes. Do we need to licence them? Yes, I do think we do.
“But we need to get to the core root of the problem and that is the owners of those dogs. You don’t see loving families with those dogs that have the same issues. You see people that walk around the streets using them as weapons. So yes, I am definitely on board with not banning the breed, I don’t think it’s a fix I think it’s a temporary solution until – I’m gonna say – the idiots out there find other dogs. And it’s a shame because these dogs should only ever be loved, they’re not there to be a weapon.”
“Do you know the amount of dogs I meet that are absolutely beautiful that are XL Bullies they are the hard jawed dogs. I let Bonnie play with all sorts of dogs – my sister’s got a Saint Bernand which is a massive dog and it’s a misconception of dogs and it’s so easy for them to not be socialised well because other people don’t want their dogs socialised with them, they don’t want to be put in a situation and it is a vicious circle.”

Gaby Roslin refuses to talk about her age: ‘I’m always 33!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Gaby Roslin refuses to talk about her age.
The 59-year-old presenter is actually enjoying later life because she has learned “not to care” what people think of her but still likes to insist that she is in her early thirties and celebrates turning 33 every year.
She told Prima Magazine: “The unexpected joy of midlife is not caring what other people think. I love jumping and dancing in the street – I would have been too embarrassed to do that in my 20s. And not having to buy Tampax every month – that’s the joy of joys!
“I don’t talk about my age: I’m always 33. I’ll tell you why. Every single time you read something about someone in the public eye, it always says their age for a woman, but it never says it about a man. The other reason I don’t talk about it is that I don’t feel it. So I tell everyone I’m 33. And every time I have a birthday, I’m 33 again because three is my lucky number. I’m alive and I thank my lucky stars; I feel that every single day and the first thing I do every morning is smile.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Morning Live’ host – who shot to fame in the 1990s when she presented ‘The Big Breakfast’ alongside Chris Evans on Channel 4 – went on to insist that whilst appearing on television had always been a dream of hers, she never went into the industry seeking fame.
She added: “TV makes me happy. I wanted ot be a TV presenter from the age of three. People say ‘Why do you want to be on telly, do you want to be famous?’ But I didn’t know what that was. I just used to say’I want to make people smile!’ – and that still applies now!”

‘My favourite part of the story is the end’: Gareth Edwards will not make a sequel to The Creator

OHMYGOSSIP — Gareth Edwards is not interested in making a sequel to ‘The Creator’.
The 48-year-old director has helmed the sci-fi thriller with artificial intelligence at the centre of the story but does not want to expand into a series as he loves endings as a film fan.
In an interview with Screen Rant, Gareth said: “We had a lot of material. We shot a lot. And okay, so look, I would love to go back to this world. There are so many things that I didn’t get to do that I would absolutely love to do.
“But my girlfriend’s a massive, when we sit and we have some dinner or something, let’s watch something. She wants to watch TV shows. I want to watch films.
“And the other day I was like, ‘Well, what’s your problem? What’s going on here?’ And I thought about it. I was like endings, my favourite part of the story is the end. My favourite part of a joke is the punchline. And so I just want it to be this self-contained thing.
“So I mean, it’s a high-class problem. If someone ever came up and said, ‘We want a sequel’. That’d be a really good problem to have. But it is not the plan. No.”
Gareth has previously helmed movies such as ‘Godzilla’ and ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ but felt restricted behind the camera on big-budget flicks and opted to step back from Hollywood as a result.
He told SFX magazine: “I got to make a very low-budget science fiction film with ‘Monsters’, and I realised there were some serious advantages to having no money.
“It was kind of a shock to have all the money you could ever want, and still be limited. I felt like I could somehow get that big bag of cash and send it back in time to me when I was making ‘Monsters’, the possibilities would have been infinite.
“And so, in a weird way, I was trying to find that kind of scenario again. I was as much interested in the process of how to make a film as I was the idea.”

‘We were raised on Elvis’: Priscilla star Cailee Spaeny on The King’s influence

OHMYGOSSIP — Cailee Spaeny had the story of Elvis Presley in her blood.
The 25-year-old star features as the King of Rock and Roll’s ex-wife Priscilla Presley in the biopic ‘Priscilla’ and explained how the music icon had an impact on her life from childhood.
Cailee told Empire magazine: “I’m from the Southern Midwest. My mom was an Elvis memorabilia collector. We were raised on Elvis – and I obviously knew Priscilla and Elvis go hand-in-hand.”
Despite her knowledge of Elvis, Cailee had little idea about Priscilla’s remarkable life and was heavily reliant on her 1985 memoir ‘Elvis and Me’ – which Sofia Coppola’s movie is based on.
The ‘On the Basis of Sex’ actress explained: “I knew the iconic moments and photos, but I didn’t know her story. I thought that that was sort of astonishing, that her story wasn’t as well-known as it should be.”
Cailee got the chance to meet Priscilla several times before playing her on the big screen and got to hear an amazing story about her first encounter with the ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ singer – who is portrayed by Jacob Elordi in the film – when she was just 14.
The actress recalled: “She couldn’t eat the whole day before she went.
“She was starving when she got there. She was offered a bacon sandwich there, and she said, ‘No, no, I’m not hungry.’ She was like, ‘I can’t eat a bacon sandwich in front of Elvis! It’d be too embarrassing.'”
Priscilla recently admitted that she felt anxious about the new movie as it is based on her life.
The 78-year-old actress told The Hollywood Reporter: “I’m so nervous because it’s my life. The people who are watching, they’re living it with you, and you hope and pray that they get it. They get your feelings, your hurts, your sensitivity.”

‘It won’t be the same!’ Soap star reacts to the news that Corrie legend has QUIT the show

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Prescott will “really miss” working with Chris Gascoyne on ‘Coronation Street’.
The 55-year-old actor has played Peter Barlow for more than two decades but is set to take an “extended break” from the show later this year and now his co-star Ryan Prescott – who stars as Ryan Connor – has remarked that Weatherfield “won’t be the same” without him.
The 34-year-old actor told Daily Mirror at the Inside Soap Awards: “He’s a fantastic actor to work with, Chris is the kind of person who could have gone off and done anything and he dedicated 20 odd years to the show, so to see him go it won’t be the same show. I will miss him dearly. I will stay in touch with him but working with him every day is one of the best things about coming to work. He’s one of those guys, he’s a real actor in the sense that he is nitty gritty and he cares about his work, even after so long he cares about technique and whatever he’s working with that day. He brings stuff to soap we don’t always see.”
In July, it was announced that Chris would be taking “an extended break” from The Cobbles after appearing in the show since 2000 – leaving intermittently – and making a full-time return in 2016 but is is getting off to try his hands at other tasks like the annual Christmas pantomime at the Alban Arena.
A rep for the venue said: “The Alban Arena are delighted to announce Coronation Street Legend Chris Gascoyne will star as Captain Hook in The All New Adventures of Peter Pan this pantomime season! The Alban Arena are delighted to announce Coronation Street Legend Chris Gascoyne will star as Captain Hook in The All New Adventures of Peter Pan this pantomime season!
“This promises to be our most spectacular pantomime yet with stunning sets, dazzling costumes, and a star-studded cast, this is a must-see show for the whole family. Don’t miss your chance to experience the wonder and excitement of Neverland once more in Paul Hendy’s pantomime sequel!”

Bhasker Patel was ‘sad’ to be killed off from ‘Emmerdale: ‘It’ wasn’t my choice!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Bhasker Patel was “sad” to be let go from ‘Emmerdale’.
The 65-year-old actor had played Rishi Sharma on the ITV1 soap set in the fictional Yorkshire for more than a decade when bosses told him via video call that his character would be killed off and admitted that he wanted to stay for longer.
He told Daily Star newspaper: “It wasn’t my choice. It was a mega surprise, to be honest.
“I was on Zoom with the producer and I said, ‘Have I done something wrong?’. But I hadn’t. They just wanted a big story and knew killing Rishi off would be a big shock for viewers.
“I was sad about it. It was a sad moment for me. I would have liked to have stayed a little bit longer.”
Bhasker – who bowed out of the show in July when his character was said to have suffered an accidental fall – also explained that viewer reactions were “very sad” because fans had “not expected” to see his character go.
He said: “People were very sad. I don’t think people expected him to go.
“They thought he would be part of Emmerdale for years to come. I read people’s reactions. It made me cry. I thought, ‘I did something right’.”
However, Bhasker has managed to stay busy since leaving the soap and went on to detail some of his upcoming projects like the West End play ‘Passing’.
Bhasker said: “I’ve been busy. I’ve done plays and I’ve done a short film. I have some cameos in other films coming up, too.”
Recently, he shared a snap from his upcoming project ‘Leviathan’ along with some of the cast and crew.
On an Instagram post, Bhasker wrote: “That’s a WRAP on #leviathancycle … finally said bye to Nemo #character reunited with Ding Ling”.
According to the show’s description: “Leviathan envisages a future very much like our present to consider possible links between borders, mental health and marine welfare. Each episode is taken from the point of view of a different character and their journey.”

Fleur East ‘never imagined’ returning to to X Factor: ‘People think its easy, but it’s so intense!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Fleur East “never thought” she would audition for ‘The X Factor’ for a second time.
The 35-year-old star finished as runner-up behind Ben Haenow in the 2014 edition of the ITV music competition but made it through to the first live final as part of Addictiv Ladies in 2005 and “never imagined” she would ever return to the show as a solo artist because she wanted to make it on her own.
later went on to finish in fourth place on ‘ I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’ in 2018 but admitted that she turned the chance down quite a few times before “reluctantly” agreeing to do so.
Speaking on ‘The Red Carpet Treatment’ podcast, she said: “It was so funny because we auditioned on a bit of a whim. We sang together at school, we didn’t know if this could actually be a thing, so we thought, let’s go and audition for people in the industry and see what they think of us. So we got to the live show. And we were like, Okay, this is a lot further than we ever predicted. So when we went out in week one, I mean, it was sad because we were starting to get into it.
“But at the same time, I was thinking, Oh well, I get to go back to school and I’ve got other things to do.
“I never thought I’d go back, to be honest. I thought, I’ve had a taste of it, I’m now going to go and make it in the industry on my own. I don’t need X Factor. And then went on tour, signed to different record labels, was in different groups. I tried so many different ways to make it and it just wasn’t happening.”
The ‘Sax’ hitmaker – who tied the knot with Marcel Badiane-Robin in 2019 – went on to add that she was an avid viewer of the show in the years that followed her initial stint but only entered for a second time after her husband filled out the application form for her.
She added: ” And then I was watching ‘X Factor’, as I did every year, because I was a huge fan of the show with my husband. And my husband said, ‘Why do we watch this every year and you’re just not auditioning?’
“And I was like, ‘You don’t get it.’ Before we got together, I did it when I was 16. And it was a whole experience. And you just think it’s easy, but it’s really intense. And then he just applied for me online. And then I got an audition date. So I did the fake one that no one sees, where you actually stand in front of producers. You have about three rounds before you even see the judges. And did all of that, and then waited for the phone call to tell me that I’d got onto the TV part, and then got through.”

‘Unmissable’ Doctor Who spin off show coming to BBC

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Doctor Who: Unleashed’ will take fans behind the scenes with a new “access all areas” show.
The upcoming companion programme – which will air on BBC Three and iPlayer this November – promises “unmissable insight” into the iconic series with former BBC Radio 1 Newsbeat star Steffan Powell stepping into the TARDIS as the host.
The new show will air immediately after every episode of ‘Doctor Who’ to give viewers a glimpse at how the iconic sci-fi favourite is made.
There will also be exclusive interviews with stars in front of – and behind – the camera.
Returning ‘Doctor Who’ showrunner Russell T Davies compared the programme to ‘Doctor Who Confidential’ – which aired in 2005 – and insisted he wants to carry on that legacy by inspiring “a whole new generation” of people to chase a career in television.
He said: “Over the years, I meet so many people who were inspired to find careers in TV, because of the behind-the-scenes material the BBC would show.
“And now it’s back, in the grand old tradition of ‘Doctor Who Confidential’, but in a brand new form, Unleashed!
“So a whole new generation – and faithful fans of old – can see what the stars and the crew get up to behind the cameras.”
Host Steffan added: “When you’re told Russell T Davies is asking for you to present a show, you say, ‘when does he want me?’ Doesn’t matter, I’ll be there…
“There’s a really fun and fascinating group of people bringing ‘Doctor Who’ to life – I can’t wait for the audience to meet them.
“I’m so chuffed to have been trusted to help tell, in all its glory, the story of what goes into making the magic happen.”
And Jo Pearce, Bright Branch Creative Director and ‘Doctor Who: Unleashed’ Executive Producer, commented: “This series gives audiences access to all areas, led brilliantly by Steffan Powell, viewers are invited to see what really goes into the making of ‘Doctor Who’.
“It’s been such a privilege to create this show and we’re so grateful to the cast and crew who welcomed us in and allowed us to tell the story behind the drama.”

Todd Boyce is becoming Coronation Street sex symbol thanks to serial killer role

OHMYGOSSIP — Todd Boyce has revealed playing a ‘Coronation Street’ killer has turned him into a sex symbol.
The 62-year-old star – who appeared on the cobbles as evil Stephen Reid between 1996 and 2007 before returning in June 2022 – admitted he gets a lot of fan mail from people who love “a bit of a bad boy”.
He’s quoted by the Daily Star newspaper’s Hot TV column as saying: “I get a lot of messages from viewers. They’re from gay men and women. They are up for a bit of a bad boy, I guess.
“They often message me and say they want to speak to me directly. I try not to get too involved with that.
“I feel like one of those killers in prisons who gets letters from people falling in love with them.”
Although the messages can be rather strange, Todd admitted he does enjoy the attention from his admirers.
He said: “It’s lovely. This is my third visit to Coronation Street and by far the most wonderful.”
However, it’s to say not everyone is enamoured with his sinister alter ego on the ITV soap, with some people getting suspicious of him since his character started killing people.
Todd recalled: “I got into a lift in Ikea – one of those large lifts – and it was really suddenly moving and this guy went, ‘You won’t get away with it you know.’ ”
On Monday (25.09.23), the actor received a great honoured as he was awarded the best villain gong at the Inside Soap Awards 2023.
Celebrating his win on his Instagram Story after the ceremony this week, he shared the Inside Soap Awards post confirming his big moment, and wrote: “Thank you so much to everyone who voted.”

S Club 7 singer Hannah Spearritt confirmed for Dancing On Ice:

OHMYGOSSIP — Hannah Spearritt has been announced for ‘Dancing On Ice’.
The S Club 7 singer – who had hits with tracks like ‘Reach’, ‘Bring It All Back’ and ‘Never Had A Dream Come True’ with the early 2000s pop band – is swapping the microphone for ice skates as she takes the rink when the ITV show returns early next year.
Revealing the news on ITV’s ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ on Thursday (28.09.23), she said: “I’m really excited about learning a new skill.”
She admitted her motivations for taking part in the 2024 series include pushing herself out of her comfort zone, and improving her fitness.
She added: “It’s so easy to live your comfortable life and that aspect of mixing things up is very appealing.
“Fitness is another reason why I’m doing it! It’s really exciting.”
Her is following in the footsteps of former bandmate Rachael Stevens, who took part in the show last year and was the third celebrity to be eliminated.
Hannah has decided not to take part in the upcoming S Club reunion tour, which will celebrate the group’s 25-year legacy.
All seven band members – including Hannah, Rachael, Bradley McIntosh, Jo O’Meara, Jon Lee, Paul Cattermole, and Tina Barrett – were due to take part before Cattermole’s death earlier this year.
Subsequently, Hannah – who previously dated the late star – decided not to join in the plans.
She is the third person to be announced for ‘Dancing On Ice’, following on from ‘Coronation Street’ actress Claire Sweeney and former professional boxer Ricky Hatton.
The retired sportsman admitted his daughters found it hilarious that he has signed up for the show.
He told ‘This Morning’: “I told my daughters and they found it absolutely hysterical.”
When asked if he is “much of a skater”, he said: “No, not at all. But being a boxer I have been on my a*** a few times.
“I can’t dance on a solid floor, so I don’t know How I’m going to get on on the ice.
“But it’s a challenge. It’s all about balance, I’ve got good upper body movement and upper body strength. You’re remembering dance sequences and moves and in boxing you’re remembering combinations and stuff like that.

‘I rejected it, like, full on’: Kevin Bacon was scorched by Footloose fame

OHMYGOSSIP — Kevin Bacon “rejected” the fame from his role in ‘Footloose’.
The 65-year-old star rose to prominence after playing the part of Ren McCormack in the 1984 musical drama film but wanted to be known as a “serious actor” instead.
Kevin told the ‘Podcrushed’ podcast: “When I became a pop star, the last thing I wanted to be was a pop star.
“I had already moved into, you know, ‘I want to be Dustin Hoffman or Meryl (Streep) or John Cazale or De Niro. I want to work with Scorsese. I want to do Chekhov.’ You know what I mean?
“I was so into what my idea of a serious actor was, and all of a sudden I was given this thing (‘Footloose’) that was completely not a serious actor. So I rejected it, like, full on. And really, I think in some ways, I tried to self-sabotage that piece of myself and my popularity.”
Kevin is also the inspiration behind the ‘Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon’ trivia game – which comes from the idea that anybody in Hollywood can be connected to him in just six steps – but it gave him a feeling of unease at first.
The ‘A Few Good Men’ star said: “I thought that, and this is my own acting insecurity – impostor syndrome – I thought that the joke of it was that the greatest actors could be connected to a loser actor like me.
“They were saying, ‘Look, can you believe he can be connected by Meryl Streep?’ By the way, I think I had already worked with Meryl Streep, so it wasn’t even… It’s just in my own head.”

‘I’ve got quite high standards when I work with other people’: Taika Waititi could relate to Next Goal Wins coach Thomas Rongen

OHMYGOSSIP — Taika Waititi noticed elements of himself in ‘Next Goal Wins’ coach Thomas Rongen.
The 48-year-old filmmaker has directed the new movie that features Michael Fassbender as Dutch-American coach Rongen as he looks to improve the results of the American Samoa national football team – ranked as one of the weakest teams on the planet – and couldn’t help but draw parallels between himself and the main character.
Speaking to Empire magazine, Taika said: “There are probably elements of the character we created around Thomas that I see in myself – that I see developing if I lose my patience.
“I’ve got quite high standards when I work with other people, and can feel – when someone’s not getting things right – this thing builds up in me. I feel like this idea of becoming more patient with people is a thing that I’ve had to learn from being patient with this film.”
Production on the movie – which also stars Elisabeth Moss and Oscar Kightley – was hit by delays due to the coronavirus pandemic but Taika was comforted by the fact that filming took place in Hawaii.
The ‘Jojo Rabbit’ director said: “I really understand why Adam Sandler just does everything in Hawaii. It’s just nice to be around brown people. It’s like being at home! You want to relax me? Put me around Pacific Islanders.”
Taika previously explained how the big-screen adaptation of the documentary of the same name had personal resonance as he could link it to his upbringing.
The New Zealand filmmaker said: “It’s the ultimate underdog story.
“It taking place in Polynesia is very important to me, because it’s my people. We stick together. It was like seeing myself up there, seeing my family up there, when I saw that documentary, which is so perfect in many ways.
“And to have broader audiences have access to that story was one of my main goals. To bring our backyard to people, and to put brown faces on screen was a big deal for me. I just loved it.”
