‘I had severe depression’: Carol Vorderman felt suicidal during the menopause

OHMYGOSSIP — Carol Vorderman felt suicidal as she battled “severe depression” during the menopause.
The 62-year-old TV star has opened up candidly about her mental health struggles around 2015 as she went through hormonal changes when her periods stopped.
Speaking on the ‘Postcards From Midlife’ podcast, she said: “When I went through it I had severe depression for about six months. I think it was 2015.
“There was nothing wrong in my life, I had made a lot of money, my kids were fine, my mum was fine. There was no problem.
“And yet I would wake up in this huge bed in this huge house, I’ve got a swimming pool outside and all of that, and I just thought ‘what’s the point?’
“I understand much more now [about] clinical depression, where you go: ‘I can’t go through this again, how can I make this stop’, and those thoughts of ‘well, there is obviously one way to make this stop.’ ”
The former ‘Loose Women’ presenter admitted even during her time on the daytime talk show, it was something of a taboo topic.
She added: “Even when I was hosting Loose Women, which was 10 years ago, it was only acceptable to say, ‘Ooh, I’m having a bit of a moment’ and make light of yourself when you’re going through this.
“It’s not always horrific for people, but you can have horrific days.”
“Now, thank God, women are going: ‘No, stuff that, this is what’s happening, I need help in the workplace, I need to be able to hear from people who are doing this.’ ”
The ‘Countdown’ legend pointed to the way people would try to spin the menopause as women going “crazy”.
She explained: ‘Because it was a patriarchy — you know, ‘Women, they just go crazy and they say crazy things.’
“We’re driving a horse and cart through that old-fashioned society attitude to women going through the menopause.”

ITV announces a ‘welfare package’ for Big Brother housemates

OHMYGOSSIP — ITV has announced a “welfare package” for ‘Big Brother’ contestants.
The broadcaster has previously been accused of failing to support reality TV stars once they return to civilian life, but ITV has now announced a series of measures to support ‘Big Brother’ housemates.
ITV said in a statement: “All housemates will be supported with an individual support plan that includes sessions with the show’s mental health professionals prior to entering the house, throughout their time in the house and beyond.
“Housemates will be required to adhere to a social media blackout and will undergo respect and inclusion training to set out expectations around use of language and acceptable behaviour in the house.
“The welfare protocols in place for ‘Big Brother’ housemates have evolved over the show’s more than 20-year global history.
“The protocols in place for the 2023 ITV series have been evaluated and reviewed with ITV’s compliance and Duty of Care team, the mental health professionals engaged for this series and ‘Big Brother’s welfare team, including Banijay UK’s Head of Welfare.”
ITV has pledged to support housemates “before, during and after their time” on ‘Big Brother.
The new series is being hosted by AJ Odudu and Will Best, and the broadcaster is keen to offer lots of support and guidance to the housemates.
The broadcaster added: “An experienced ‘Big Brother’ welfare team is solely dedicated to the welfare of the housemates before, during and after the show.
“The welfare of everyone involved in the making of the programme is of paramount importance and welfare protocols have been carefully considered to deliver robust assessment of suitability to participate, informed consent and support throughout the casting and filming process and beyond.”

Scott Derrickson reveals The Black Phone ‘prequel’ reference in new horror film

OHMYGOSSIP — Scott Derrickson has hidden a nod to ‘The Black Phone’ in new horror ‘V/H/S/85’.
The filmmaker – who adapted Joe Hill’s story and turned it into a horror blockbuster last year with Ethan Hawke playing the sinister Grabber – has revealed how his ‘Dreamkill’ segment in Shudder streaming platform’s upcoming anthology acts as a prequel of sorts.
He told ComicBoook.com: “Oh, there’s actually a universe crossover in there, which I guess I made it too subtle because nobody’s picking it up.
“But James Ransone tells Detective Wayne, when he’s behind the glass, he was talking about Gunther. He says, ‘He has these dreams that are prophetic.’ And he says, ‘My sister had the same gift. They drove her crazy, she killed herself.’
“And he said, ‘Gunther’s cousin Gwen has the same thing too. I f****** hate it.’ Well, the sister is Gwen’s mom, and Gwen is Gwen from ‘The Black Phone.’ ”
As fans of the film will remember, Gwen Blake – played by Madeleine McGaw – has psychic dreams like her late mother, and foresees a lot of the horror.
Derrickson added: “It’s literally the same gift, it’s this ability to dream things before they happen, or have these prophetic, futuristic, surreal dreams.”
‘V/H/S/85’ is the sixth instalment in the ‘V/H/S’ franchise, which started with the first movie 11 years ago.
The synopsis for the Shudder original film reads: “Experience harrowing tales of found footage horror that pull you into the 1980s with V/H/S/85.
“Raw fear awaits you… An ominous mixtape blends never before seen footage with nightmarish newscasts and disturbing home video to create a surreal, analog mashup of the forgotten ’80s.”
Despite insisting he isn’t “closed off” to the idea, Derrickson has previously played down the idea of a sequel and pointed to how ‘The Black Phone’ is proof audiences will embrace fresh characters and ideas.
He said: “It seems to be the one genre that original movies will then be so successful that you get ‘A Quiet Place’ that had a hugely successful sequel. That’s pretty common.
“The mainstream, big budget franchises that we have are mostly older franchises… all these things that have been around for a very long time are still the big heavyweights in the theatres.”

Nicol Paone ‘floored’ by Uma Thurman casting in The Kill Room

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicol Paone believes Uma Thurman is the perfect person to play Patrice in ‘The Kill Room’.
The 53-year-old actress has been reunited with Samuel L. Jackson for the new thriller film, and Nicol – the movie’s director – believes Uma is perfectly suited to the role of Patrice, an art dealer who gets involved with a money laundering scheme.
Nicol told Collider: “It was because I was hounding Danielle Thomas, who is a partner at Untitled, to read the script. I just was bothering her for about a year thinking it’s right up her alley. I know she’ll love it, she’s an art collector, she’s a big Broadway fanatic. It was her sensibility. And I was right, she loved it, and she happened to represent Uma Thurman and asked me if she could send it to Uma.
“But before, while I was on a walk, my partner asked me who I thought would be the ultimate Patrice, and I blurted out, ‘Uma Thurman.’ And then a week later Danielle Thomas calls me and she was like, ‘This is Uma Thurman,’ and I was floored.”
Meanwhile, Nicol recently revealed that ‘The Kill Room’ was amended to suit Samuel L. Jackson’s style of acting.
The director admitted that she was forced into a last-minute rewrite of the script.
She told Collider: “That role is really interesting because it was written as Herschel, a 72-year-old Jewish man.
“And when we were discussing the casting, Uma [Thurman] texted me, ‘Is Sam Jackson an option?’ And I was like, ‘Are you kidding? Of course.’
“And so Jonathan and I had a day to rewrite the script before the Christmas break to get it to Sam.”

Ant and Dec ditch beloved Saturday Night Takeaway competition for last series

OHMYGOSSIP — Ant and Dec are ditching ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’ competition ‘Place on the Plane’ for the final series.
The Geordie duo – who previously revealed the upcoming series of the ITV show will be their last one for a while after 20 years – are making some changes for the upcoming run, including swapping the fan favourite segment in favour of offering up a bunch of massive prizes.
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “ITV decided alongside Ant and Dec that Place on the Plane wouldn’t be a feature on this series.
“The team working on ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’ wanted to shake up the show for the final series.
It is gearing up to be their most spectacular show yet.”
Meanwhile, the team behind the show are promising the “most spectacular” series of ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’ to date with “numerous surprises”.
An ITV spokesperson told the outlet: “As such there will be numerous surprises, alongside the biggest viewer holiday give away in Takeaway history.
“The 2024 series will be a brilliant celebration of 20 amazing years on screen.”
Meanwhile, the broadcaster recently revealed they are looking for a new Little Ant and Dec – mini me versions of the iconic presenters – to take over for the next series.
ITV said: “We are on the lookout for our new Little Ant and Dec to take part in the next series of ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’!
“We are looking for confident, cheeky chatty boys with a Geordie accent between the ages of 5-7 who think they could be the next Little Ant and Dec!”
Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly previously enlisted the talents of youngsters James Pallister and Dylan McKenna to be Little Ant and Dec in 2003.
The pair were nine years old, and they were later replaced Neil Overend and Haydn Reid, after the original twosome grew too old and too tall for the gig.

‘Our call time was 1 in the morning’: Bradley Cooper spent five hours in makeup for Maestro

OHMYGOSSIP — Bradley Cooper endured a five-hour makeup process to transform into Leonard Bernstein in ‘Maestro’.
The 48-year-old actor both stars in and directs the new biopic about the celebrated composer and the Oscar-winning makeup artist Kazu Hiro revealed how he and his team would spend all night applying the cosmetics so he could be behind the camera in character.
Hiro told an audience at the picture’s New York Film Festival screening on Monday (02.10.23): “The last stage, he had covered pretty much everywhere, the bodysuit and arms. That took over 5 hours.
“The last stage, the whole time, our call time was 1 in the morning.
“The other thing was he wanted makeup to be finished before the crew call, so he would appear as Lenny to set up the shoot and everything. That also kind of made our call time two hours earlier than normal, so that was quite tough.”
Hiro explained that the length of time Bradley spent in the makeup chair varied as they filmed scenes from across Bernstein’s life.
He said: “(We had to) keep adding because as he gets older, we had to add more elements. The younger stage was the nose and lips and chin and a wig. After the third stage, he started having cheek and neck (additions).”
Hiro’s work sparked outcry as Cooper decided to wear a prosthetic nose in his portrayal of Bernstein, who was Jewish, and the makeup artist did not intend to cause offence.
He said: “I wasn’t expecting that to happen. I feel sorry that I hurt some people’s feelings.
“My goal was and Bradley’s goal was to portray Lenny as authentic as possible. Lenny had a really iconic look that everybody knows – there’s so many pictures out there because he’s photogenic, too – such a great person and also inspired so many people.
“So we wanted to respect the look too, on the inside. So that’s why we did several different tests and went through lots of decisions and that was the outcome in the movie.”

‘It wasn’t in my mind!’: David Duchovny did not land Pet Sematary: Bloodlines part because of The X Files

OHMYGOSSIP — David Duchovny’s role in ‘The X Files’ had no influence on his casting in ‘Pet Sematary: Bloodlines’.
The 63-year-old star features in the new horror prequel as a grieving father who attempts to bring his son back to life following his death in the Vietnam War but director Lindsey Anderson Beer was not swayed by his previous experience of the supernatural as Fox Mulder in the hit TV series.
In an interview with Screen Rant, Lindsey said: “It wasn’t in my mind! It’s such a good point, and it’s so funny that yes, he’s absolutely somebody who he’d be investigating as Mulder.
“But no, what was in my mind was ‘Californication’, and what a beautiful father he was in that.”
The filmmaker continued: “I wanted to make sure whoever played Bill Baterman could play it in a way that felt sympathetic and relatable, and didn’t just come off as an arch villain who does the wrong thing.
“I just thought he brings a lot of gravitas and beauty to that role, because I saw it in ‘Californication’. He read the script, he’s a father, he really related to the themes and the grief that Bill Baterman was going through, and he just really connected with it.”
The new movie is a prequel to the 2019 picture ‘Pet Sematary’ – based on Stephen King’s 1983 novel of the same name – and Beer is delighted that the ‘King of Horror’ is a fan of her work.
She explained: “We have had check-ins at all kinds of key points, like he signed off on the shooting script, and gave us the thumbs up, and he said he liked it. Obviously, I would not have wanted to shoot anything he didn’t like.
“But it’s always a journey from scripts to finished film, so it was just so rewarding to see that it resonates with him, and that he loves the movie as much as we do, it’s his baby. So I’m just glad that he feels we did right by it.”

Sue Perkins is fronting an Alaskan adventure show

OHMYGOSSIP — Sue Perkins is heading to Alaska for an adventure show.
The former ‘Great British Bake Off’ host is jetting off the wild wilderness to film a three-part series exploring the area for Channel 5.
The 54-year-old comedian told the Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “Alaska is a wild and unknown place, so getting the chance to immerse myself in the diverse cultures and landscapes was an opportunity I couldn’t miss.
“I’ve always loved taking on new challenges and meeting people from all walks of life.
“I’m thrilled to be taking the Channel 5 audience on this Alaskan adventure with me.”
“I can’t wait to tune in . . .  from the comfort of home.”
An insider told the same outlet: “When TV explorers travel to extreme environments, everything is obviously treated with great care and attention in terms of safety, preparedness and respect for the environment.
“With that, though, everything can sometimes feel terribly earnest.
“There will be none of that for Into Alaska With Sue Perkins. Even sub-zero temperatures can’t put her distinctive sense of humour and quirky approach on ice.
“She’ll be landing in the ‘Great Land’ with little to no idea of what she’s in for, before going through necessary survival training then journeying deeper and deeper into the Alaskan wilderness.
“Sue comes across everything from beautiful yet dangerous wildlife to doomsday prepping, survivalist living and the incredible culture of Native Alaskan villages.”
Sue recently admitted that she is an “idiot” when it comes to love after splitting from her ex, the ‘Naked Attraction’ host Anna Richardson, 53.
She told the same newspaper in June: “I was in a very long-term happy thing, and obviously, we grew out of it, I guess.
“With me, it always ends in an exactly seven-year relationship. Yes, it’s weird. It’s between six-and-a-half and eight usually. I’m an idiot.”
“I’m a serial monogamist. I’m always in a relationship, so it doesn’t matter who I fancy, I’m with the person I’m with, and I want to be good to them — I’m not a philanderer.”

Carol Vorderman: Why I’m glad to be single…

OHMYGOSSIP — Carol Vorderman is “glad” to be “single” due to ‘Married At First Sight’.
The ex ‘Countdown’ star is “happy” to be unattached after sitting down to watch a marathon of the Aussie edition of the reality series that sees strangers get hitched to each other while down with the coronavirus after her two previous marriages, her first to Christopher Mather, 61, and her second to Patrick King, 63, the father of her two kids, Kate,32, and Cameron, 26.
The 62-year-old television personality told OK! magazine: “I am very happy. As I’ve had Covid recently, I’ve had time to watch the telly. I started watching MAFS Australia. I don’t usually watch shows like that. I watched about 20 hours of it. My conclusion is, I’m glad I’m single!
Carol admitted to finding aging “really interesting” and not “elderly” at all.
She said: “I love my 60s. They’re really interesting. For my mother’s generation, by the time you were 60, you were classed as elderly. And I don’t feel that way at all. Most of my friends are a lot younger and I’ve got a younger head, if you like.”
The former ‘Loose Women’ anchor revealed that her active lifestyle included “weight training”and “hiking” and she is influenced by other women around her age on social media.
Carol said: “Weight training. And as you get older, you have to do more of that. I have some equipment in my lounge too, so I can do stuff at home like hip thrusts, kettlebells, some basic arms and shoulders and glutes. I’m feeling super fit and well. I follow women on Instagram who are in their fifties or older who are into fitness, and I just think they’re amazing. One woman is 85 and she uses parallel bars. It’s extraordinary.”
She said: “I love hiking, but that’s hardly been happening because I’ve either been busy travelling from my home in Bristol for work or I’ve been in London, and obviously I can’t go hiking there. So I’ve mainly been going to the gym. But I’ve really missed outdoor exercise and I crave it. Earlier this year, I looked back at my diary and I’d only spent 40 to 50 nights at home in over a year. I thought, ‘I’ve really got to address this.’”
Towards the end of last year, Carol explained that she has “ignored” the societal construct of monogamy because she believes it is “unrealistic” to expect one person to fulfil every need of another and now has five “special friends” in her life.
Speaking on ‘This Morning, she said: “Our mothers told us that we should marry when we were 18 or 19 years of age, so we grew up with this convention that we should find one partner for life and all the good fairy tales tell you that they married and lived happily ever after.
“My view is not quite like that. If people do have a very happy and long marriage, that is wonderful. Congratulations. But the fact is that half of marriages in divorce and almost three-quarters of marriage end in divorce. So I prefer to live my life – and people should speak about it in this way – in chapters. You try to have happy chapters and I think that’s what you’re looking for next.

Annabel Croft on doing Strictly after losing her husband: ‘It’s a distraction from the grief!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Annabel Croft is using ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ as a “distraction” from her grief.
The 57-year-old tennis legend is currently taking part in the BBC One Latin and ballroom show alongside professional partner Johannes Radebe but following the death of her husband Mel Coleman – who passed away in May at the age of 60 following a short battle with cancer – explained that she is just focusing on “each dance” rather than winning the whole series.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’, she said: “It’s been a nice distraction – that’s a good word – from grief. And it has just been nice to do something joyful and use my body and rest my brain. I’m a huge fan of this gorgeous man and it all just kind of works.
“We’ve talked about it a lot, I know it’s a competition and everyone focuses on the competition. Lots of people come up to you and say ‘Oh, the glitterball, the glitterball’, but we are just we’re not thinking about that. We are just thinking about each dance, each step. Enjoying the moment and wherever it takes us is how we view it.”
Meanwhile, the sports star received mixed reviews on her latest performance on the show from judges Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Anton Du Beke but insisted that whilst she finds the competition a “challenge”, she still loves the whole experience.
She added: “I learn something every second of every day and [Johannes] does not miss a trick when we’re rehearsing. It’s a challenge, but it’s great fun. It’s been an amazing experience already. I ‘ve loved both of the dances we’ve done, they’ve been quite frantic and I think we kind of galloped our way round the stage but this week will be a little bit slower!”

Zara McDermott remembers watching Strictly with her late nan: ‘She’s looking down on me!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Zara McDermott thinks her grandma would be “over the moon” if she could see her on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 26-year-old presenter is the first former ‘Love Island’ contestant to compete on the star-studded BBC Latin and ballroom show and remembered watching the first series of the programme with her late nan as a child, although she admitted that taking part is like “throwing herself in the deep end” because she is “not very good” at dancing to start with.
She told Best magazine: “Pushing myself out of my comfort zone is something I’ve tried to do the whole of my 20s. I know I’m not very good at dancing. I’ve never been the girl to even dance in a nightclub in front of friends. This is throwing myself into the deep end.
“I remember watching the first series when I was seven, with my nan. We would replicate the dances in the living room. She’s sadly passed away now but she’d be over the moon if she knew I was doing this. I feel like she’s looking down on me. She’s my little guardian angel. ”
However, the BBC Three star and documentary maker – who is competing against the likes of West End star Layton Williams, broadcaster Angela Rippon and former ‘Coronation Street’ actress Ellie Leach on the show – did go on to add that she has no “natural” ability in dance to start with so thinks she could have the “least” chance of actually lifting the Glitterball Trophy at the end of the series.
She added: “I feel I have the least advantage, I have no natural dance ability. So, the thought of winning is just incredible!”

Nadiya Hussain opens up about success after Bake Off: ‘I never imagined this!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Nadiya Hussain doesn’t take her success for granted.
The 38-year-old chef shot to fame when she won ‘Great British Bake Off’ in 2015 and in the years since has carved out a successful career in the media but admitted that it is only recently that she has accepted that she is where she is because of her talent rather than just luck.
She told OK! Magazine: “I never imagined I would be where I am today. I am loving every second. When I wrote my first cookbook I thought, ‘Well, this is the first and only cookbook I will ever write,’ and here I am, still writing cookbooks. So that is pretty special. I don’t take it for granted. kept saying to everyone in the crew, ‘You guys have a much harder job than I do.’ And they were like, ‘You realise that none of us can do what you do? Like none of us can do what you do.’ I’m like, ‘That’s not true…’ And a few years ago, it dawned on me that you can’t do this unless you’re good at it. I have to believe I’m good at it. I can’t run on luck forever!”
The ‘Nadiya Bakes’ star now hosts a series of cookery-themed programmes and makes occasional appearances on shows like ‘This Morning’ and ‘Loose Women’ but feels “very lucky” that her background has allowed her to remain humble.
I have a very different mindset now where I believe that I am good at it and I do believe that I am good at my job. The camera does not faze me one bit. I love, love, love what I do. I’m perfectly happy to be alone in front of the camera and don’t feel scared and daunted any more. It’s helped grow my confidence. It’s tough because I work in an industry where there’s a fine line between confidence and overconfidence. I’m very lucky in that I come from a background where I’m very humbled. It’s like, ‘Your job is just your job.’ I love that I can keep my feet firmly on the ground!”

David Walliams sues Britain’s Got Talent bosses

OHMYGOSSIP — David Walliams is suing the makers of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’.
The 52-year-old comedian left the talent show last November after derogatory marks he made about contestants during a break from filming auditions in January 2020 was made public, and he’s now taking legal action with production company Fremantle over the leak.
According to The Sun online, the former ‘Little Britain’ star submitted paperwork at the High Court in London last Thursday (21.09.23), in which he accused the producers of a data protection breach over the leaked transcript.
The comic – who filed his lawsuit under his real name David Edwards Williams- is seeking damages and has hired Brandsmiths, a legal firm who specialist in data protection breaches.
Questions were raised about David’s future on the show after “disrespectful comments” he made about ‘BGT’ contestants in a recording of an audition show at the London Palladium in January 2020 were leaked, prompting him to apologise.
According to a leaked transcript, he called one contestant a “****”.
Of another, he said: “She’s like the slightly boring girl you meet in the pub that thinks you want to f*** them, but you don’t.”
He reiterated: “She thinks you want to f*** her, but you don’t.”
The ‘Little Britain’ star then added: “I know, she’s just like, ‘Oh, f*** off!’ I was saying, she thinks you want to f*** her, but you don’t. It’s the last thing on your mind, but she’s like, ‘Yep, I bet you do!’ ‘No I don’t!’ ”
David insisted the conversations were “never intended to be shared”, but he did issue an apology.
He said in a statement: “I would like to apologise to the people I made disrespectful comments about during breaks in filming for ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ in 2020. These were private conversations and – like most conversations with friends – were never intended to be shared. Nevertheless, I am sorry.”
David, who first joined the show in 2012, was later replaced on the judging panel by Bruno Tonioli.

‘I’d had enough!’ Danny Dyer reveals real reason for EastEnders exit

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Dyer has claimed standards dropped by the end of his ‘EastEnders’ run.
The 46-year-old actor – who left Albert Square last Christmas after almost a decade playing Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter – has taken aim at storylines and even some of his own castmates as he admitted he’d “f****** had enough”.
Speaking during a fan event in London this week, he said “The first few years we f****** smashed it. It was powerful s***. The viewer listened to us more than these f****** c*** politicians.
“I was blessed with some amazing storylines, some s**** ones as well. They f***** it up towards the end.
“It’s a shame it had to come to an end but I’d f****** had enough.”
Although he didn’t name names, Danny also took aim at some co-stars and insisted the job should be “about teamwork”.
As quoted by The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column, he added: “I’ve worked with a lot of actors that are c****, very selfish, it’s all about them.
“You need to look after your other actors. It’s about teamwork and looking after each other.”
However, Danny did credit his role on the BBC soap with saving his career after a run of “bad films”.
He said: “I had made too many bad films and I was reduced to going to nightclubs and waving off the balcony in places like Kidderminster.
“I couldn’t put the kids through school anymore. I had f***** it and then I get a call from [‘EastEnders’ boss] Dominic Treadwell Collins, who asked me to come down and meet him at The Langham hotel and I had just about enough petrol to get there!
“It changed my life and it changed my f****** career as well.”
Danny – who joined in 2013 – previously admitted he “didn’t know” who his character was anymore.
He told The Sun: “I didn’t quite know who I was playing anymore. It was an odd thing.”

Oti Mabuse quit Strictly after ‘crying in the shower’ over intense pressure

OHMYGOSSIP — Oti Mabuse quit ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ after regularly “crying in the shower” over how intense it was training some celebrities.
The 33-year-old star struggled with the immense pressures put on the professional dancers to get their celebrity to learn a whole new routine within just under a week, and found it “so hard” and so overwhelming”, that she would sob in the shower with her clothes on still.
Oti, who is pregnant with her first child with husband Marius Lepure, admitted that even being at the height of her career and lifting the glitterball on the BBC show wasn’t enough for her to stay, and some couldn’t get their heads around why she would give it all up.
Speaking on the ‘All Change’ podcast, she said: “I was met with a lot of, ‘Why would you leave? You’re happy, you are at the top of your professional game, your personal game. “‘You won the show. Why would you leave?’ And I was like, ‘Because of that’.
“That is the wrong question to ask, ‘Why would you leave?’ The right one is, ‘What’s next?'”
Oti would either hardly eat or binge eat to cope.
Whilst she didn’t mention any names, Oti said she couldn’t get on with some “interesting personalities” on the show.
Her husband was fully supportive of her decision to leave as it wasn’t good for her health.
She added: “I said to him, ‘Do you think I’m finished?’ and he was like, ‘Yeah I think.'”
Oti swapped ‘Strictly’ to become a judge on rival show ‘Dancing on Ice’ and she also has her own weekend chat show, ‘Oti Mabuse’s Breakfast Show’, on ITV.
Oti is said to be viewed as one of “ITV’s golden girls” – despite her show ‘Romeo and Duet’ lasting just one season.
A source previously told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “Oti is still considered one of ITV’s golden girls and bosses are delighted with her as a judge on ‘Dancing On Ice’, so they’re sure she’ll be a hit.”

Bambi screenwriter thinks Disney remake needs to be more kid-friendly

OHMYGOSSIP — Lindsey Anderson Beer thinks the ‘Bambi’ remake needs to be more kid-friendly than the original.
The ‘Pet Semetary: Bloodlines’ director – who has had to step back from the upcoming computer animated Disney reboot due to other commitments – has insisted so many families haven’t shown their young children the original 1942 classic.
She told Collider: “What’s interesting about Bambi to me is it absolutely is a classic and it’s a beautiful love poem, such artistry to it.
I do think there’s an entire generation of children who have never seen the original and that’s very different from, say ‘Little Mermaid’ or ‘Aladdin’ or the ‘90s heyday films that they’ve definitely already seen.
“I can’t tell you how many kids I’ve seen who’ve never seen ‘Bambi’, which is such a shame.”
While Anderson Beer pointed out that the original is “such a gorgeous film”, she insisted it’s a “different tempo” than “modern audiences are used to”.
She also thinks the movie dealing with the death of a parent is another big reason it might not be as widely enjoyed by a modern, younger audience.
She said: “Not to spoil the plot, but there’s a treatment of the mom dying that I think some kids, some parents these days are more sensitive about than they were in the past.
“And I think that’s one of the reasons that they haven’t shown it to their children…
“I do think there is a way to update ‘Bambi’ and our take on it was… did give a little bit more of a scope to it.
“And I just think that to be able to bring it to life for kids these days in a way that maybe they relate to a little bit more would be of service to the original.”
