A ‘weird energy’ haunted the set of The Exorcist: Believer

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Exorcist: Believer’ set was affected by a “weird energy” that influenced the horror movie.
The upcoming supernatural film is a direct sequel to the 1973 horror classic ‘The Exorcist’ in which Linda Blair starred as Regan MacNeil, a 12-year-old girl who is possessed by a demon.
The original movie was disturbed with supernatural goings-on during production, with the crew believing ‘The Exorcist’ set was haunted as the shoot was plagued with tragedies.
Before or soon after its release, nine people died that were associated with the movie, most notably Jack MacGowran – who played Burke Dennings – who passed away from influenza a month before the movie released.
Director David Gordon Green – who has helmed the Blumhouse Productions sequel – has now revealed that his shoot was affected by a “spiritual intensity” which made “s***” happen.
In an interview with SFX magazine, Green was asked whether there had been any supernatural experiences during the shoot, to which he replied: “I can’t say it wasn’t, because when you get that type of spiritual intensity in a room – and I’m not just talking about the actors, and the characters or the subject matter, but the dolly grip, the boom operator, everybody’s bringing an energy.
“I don’t care what you believe in. When you get into a room with people with intensity, there’s s*** that happens.”
Other notable incidents on the set of William Friedkin’s ‘The Exorcist’ included the set mysteriously burning down one day, and it was then covered in snow on another.
Ellen Burstyn – who played Chris MacNeil, the mother of the possessed Regan – suffered a permanent back injury filming a scene where her daughter throws her across the room.
Burstyn, 90, reprises her role as Chris in the sequel – which hits cinemas on October 13 – and shared her tales of paranormal activity with the filmmaker and the new cast.
Green, 48, insists that nothing happened on the scale of the cursed original, but there was a tangible spirituality on set and a tangible atmosphere caused by the subject matter they were dealing with.
He explained: “It wasn’t in terms of the stuff you hear from the original film – Ellen tells those stories, some very passionately, some very humorously, some tragically – but there was undoubtedly some weird energy.
“There are not literal exciting stories to tell. It’s not like an entity came out of the floors and visited us, but it was undeniable electricity happening.”
The Halloween horror special issue of SFX magazine is available to purchase from October 4 and available to subscribers from September 30.

‘Just saying…’ Kylie Minogue teases Doctor Who return

OHMYGOSSIP — Kylie Minogue is open to a ‘Doctor Who’ return.
The ‘I Should Be So Lucky’ hitmaker played one-off companion Astrid Peth alongside David Tennant’s Time Lord in 2007 episode ‘Voyage of the Damned’, and she had a great time working on the beloved BBC sci-fi series.
Appearing on Hits Radio’s Answer the Internet segment, she said: “It was so amazing to be in such a beloved show and with David Tennant as the Doctor, happy days!
“I wouldn’t mind if Astrid Peth came back, just saying.”
It might seem farfetched, but anything is possible with showrunner Russell T Davies back at the helm, and David returning to the TARDIS later this year alongside Catherine Tate as Donna Noble.
In the 2007 episode, Kylie’s character Astrid met the Doctor onboard the starship Titanic as they discover Max Capricorn’s (George Costigan) plan to destroy the ship and its passengers, as well as anyone on Earth.
While it remains to be see if the former ‘Neighbours’ star will be back, the BBC has announced big plans for a ‘Doctor Who’ spin-off show in November when the new series returns.
‘Doctor Who: Unleashed’ promises “unmissable insight” into the iconic series with former BBC Radio 1 Newsbeat star Steffan Powell stepping into the TARDIS as the host.
As well as a behind the scenes glimpse at how the iconic sci-fi favourite is made, there will also be exclusive interviews with stars in front of – and behind – the camera.
Russell has compared the programme to ‘Doctor Who Confidential’ – which aired in 2005 – and he wants to carry on that legacy by inspiring “a whole new generation” of people to chase a career in television.
He said: “Over the years, I meet so many people who were inspired to find careers in TV, because of the behind-the-scenes material the BBC would show.
“And now it’s back, in the grand old tradition of ‘Doctor Who Confidential’, but in a brand new form, Unleashed!
“So a whole new generation – and faithful fans of old – can see what the stars and the crew get up to behind the cameras.”

Matt Lucas gives update on new comedy show with David Walliams

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Lucas and David Walliams still “haven’t pitched” their new idea to TV bosses.
The former ‘Little Britain’ stars – who rose to fame as the stars and co-creators of the early 2000s BBC sitcom – are working together on a new series, but the project is still in its early stages.
Appearing on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’ on Thursday (28.09.23), he said: “We are working on a new idea and we will see what happens with that.
“We haven’t pitched the idea to anyone yet.”
Matt was making his first TV appearance since ‘The Great British Bake Off’ returned to Channel 4 on Tuesday (26.09.23) with Alison Hammond replacing him as host.
Reflecting on her debut, he admitted: “I thought Alison was brilliant. We have been messaging each other she is fantastic.”
The 49-year-old comedian’s comments about his project with David come after reports the latter is suing the makers of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’.
The former talent show judge left the show last November after derogatory remarks he made about contestants during a break from filming auditions in January 2020 were made public, and he’s now taking legal action with production company Fremantle over the leak.
According to The Sun online, he submitted paperwork at the High Court in London last Thursday (21.09.23), in which he accused the producers of a data protection breach over the leaked transcript.
The 52-year-old comic – who filed his lawsuit under his real name David Edwards Williams – is seeking damages and has hired Brandsmiths, a legal firm who specialist in data protection breaches.
David insisted the conversations were “never intended to be shared”, but he did issue an apology.
He said in a statement: “I would like to apologise to the people I made disrespectful comments about during breaks in filming for ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ in 2020.
“These were private conversations and – like most conversations with friends – were never intended to be shared. Nevertheless, I am sorry.”

Kate Garraway still ‘lives in fears’ that husband Derek Draper could die at any moment

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Garraway is still living in fear that her husband Derek Draper could die at any minute.
The ‘Good Morning Britain’ presenter admitted she is trying to “take back control” and look after herself, but her husband still requires full time care since living back at home following his terrifying COVID-19 battle.
She told Good Housekeeping magazine: “I’d love to be able to tell you that, since Derek has been home, everything has been easy, that the miracle of him being at home has turned the day-to-day challenges into a breeze.
“But because we keep having emergency setbacks and he’s had to be rushed back into hospital so many times, the fear of him dying has never left us.
“The unpredictability of his day-to-day condition means we’re living on a rollercoaster.”
The 56-year-old star – who has children Darcy, 17, and Billy, 14, with her husband – revealed she’s “deliberately” trying to making her own self-care a priority too.
She added: “I’ve been experimenting with ways to take control of my own happiness. I now deliberately carve out time to give myself the gift of doing something that only helps me.
“It might be only 10 minutes of something physical, such as stretching, pottering in the garden with a mug of tea, or reading something not related to work.
“And I’ve put some fun girls’ nights in the diary with Charlotte Hawkins, Ranvir Singh and Susanna Reid.”
Derek was left with long-lasting organ damage after he contracting COVID-19 in March 2020, and he spent over a year in hospital before coming home.
He currently has no physical mobility and requires two people to hold him upright five times a day to help him bear weight.
Meanwhile, she recently admitted her children have found ways to cope with their new family life, and admitted everyone has some kind of “adrenaline”.
She told ‘Heart Breakfast’ hosts Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston: “And the kids have too in their own way, so I think the last year and a half really, has been coming to terms with the fact that we’re not in a ‘one week’ ‘two week’ ‘three month’ drama.
“We’re in something ongoing and I think weirdly, that’s how it’s felt for everybody beyond the pandemic.”

Pet Sematary: Bloodlines director to helm Sleepy Hollow reboot for Paramount

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Pet Sematary: Bloodlines’ director Lindsey Anderson Beer is to helm the ‘Sleepy Hollow’ reboot.
The filmmaker is making her directorial debut on the Paramount+ horror prequel – which is based on Stephen King’s 1983 novel – and will follow up that film by turning her attention to the remake for the same studio.
Lindsey is also acting as the writer on the project, which has been delayed by the five-month strike by the Writers Guild of America.
In an interview with the new issue of SFX magazine, Lindsey spilled: “I’m directing a ‘Sleepy Hollow’ reboot for Paramount. I am directing, producing and one day will be writing it again.
“I turned in the first draft a week before the strike started. So I’m really, really eager to get back on it.
“But I’m really excited about that. It definitely has more of a horror element to it, I love it so much. So much fun.”
Admitting the strike had affected her creative process on the movie, she added: “It’s so hard to immerse yourself so heavily in a world and then just have to stop completely and put it down, which is what I did. So I can’t wait to get back to it.”
The original ‘Sleepy Hollow’ – which is inspired by Washington Irving’s 1820 short story ‘The Legend of Sleepy Hollow’ – came out in 1989. The gothic horror was directed by Tim Burton and starred Christina Ricci and Johnny Depp.
Depp plays police constable Ichabod Crane who is sent from New York City to investigate a series of murders in the village of Sleepy Hollow by a mysterious Headless Horseman.
In ‘Pet Sematary: Bloodlines’, Lindsey explores the life of a young Jud Crandall (Jackson White) and we learn the beginnings of the cursed ancient burial ground and how it first affected the town of Ludlow.
Lindsey is delighted to have had the chance to tell a different story from King’s book that has never been seen on screen.
She said: “I thought there would be a lot of jaded, normal, typical commentary about, ‘Oh, we don’t need another sequel or prequel…” People tend to slam IP without even knowing what something is about.”
“You haven’t seen this before. This helps explain more about the mythology and about the origin of the character that’s so iconic, and people were really excited and it surprised me, but it delighted me.”
The Halloween horror special issue of SFX magazine – which contains features on ‘The Exorcist: Believer’ and ‘Five Nights At Freddy’s’ and much more – is available to purchase from October 4 and available to subscribers from September 30.

Sitcom legend joins Coronation Street

OHMYGOSSIP — Ram John Holder has joined the cast of ‘Coronation Street’.
The 89-year-old actor – who is best known for his portrayal of Porkpie in Channel 4 sitcom ‘Desmond’s’, which ran from 1989 to 1994 – is currently filming scenes as Ed Bailey’s (Trevor Michael Georges) dad, Sarge, but he won’t be seen on screen for some time.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “Ram has already been filming his scenes though viewers won’t get to see them for some months.
“It’s a substantial role, but he’s a seasoned star of multiple dramas.”
Ram has previously appeared in ‘EastEnders’, ‘Casualty’, ‘Holby City’ and ‘Doctors’, and most recently featured in ‘Death In Paradise’.
The veteran actor previously spoke of how much he loved working on ‘Desmond’s’ and was happy he’d given up the chance of a BBC TV series of his own to play Porkpie.
He told The Guardian newspaper: “The BBC had offered me the lead part in a six-episode series, but I chose Desmond’s instead, because I loved the character of Porkpie. I just got him. It was also very attractive to me that Norman Beaton [who played Desmond] was going to be in the show.
“I’d known him for years and had worked with him before – I knew it would be good if he was involved.
“On set, it was such a marvellous, happy ensemble. The way we collaborated with each other and the camaraderie was great. We knew the neighbourhood, we knew those characters. We loved how it had been written.
“Norman and myself used to say: how can Trix, this young guy, get all these nuances of these West Indian characters? He was 30 years younger than us. He was a young boy. And he had somehow managed to create this incredible thing.”

Jason Blum ‘scared to death’ of Taylor Swift

OHMYGOSSIP — Jason Blum is “scared to death” of Taylor Swift.
The 54-year-old producer’s Blumhouse Productions have made the decision to move the release of ‘The Exorcist: Believer’ a week earlier to 6 October after the ‘Shake It Off’ singer announced her ‘Eras’ concert film would hit cinemas on 13 October, and Jason explained it was “too risky” to hope viewers would take a chance on an “ExorSwift” double bill.
He told Entertainment Weekly: “The one thing that scares me to death is Taylor Swift!
“We had this amazing Friday the 13th in October, which is the single best day to release a scary movie.
“Obviously, we moved off that [date] and we bowed our head to Taylor Swift.
“It was too risky to see if ‘Exorswift’ was going to take or not. People will still have the Exorswift opportunity, so maybe we got to have our cake and eat it, too.”
‘The Exorcist: Believer’ is a continuation of the iconic horror franchise and Jason warned people to “be prepared” before they see the film because it’s just as chilling as the 1973 original.
He said: “The people who have seen it have said it checks all the boxes of the original and that you come out kind of shaken, so be prepared.”
Ellen Burstyn returns to the series for the first time since William Friedkin’s original film to reprise her role as Chris MacNeil, and Jason credited director David Gordon Green for bringing her on board.
He said: “I really give David Gordon Green credit for that. “He was able to get Jamie Lee Curtis comfortable [on 2018’s ‘Halloween’], and David got Ellen to feel comfortable to join us in this iteration of her iconic movie.”
Producer Ryan Turek added: “Where Jamie Lee Curtis will come in, kicking the door down and getting to know everybody, Ellen kind of floated in.
“We were very respectful and just made sure that everyone was on their A game.”

‘He is like a tank!’ 50 Cent ‘so powerful’ on Expendables 4 he dislocated stuntman’s finger

OHMYGOSSIP — 50 Cent was so “powerful” while filming ‘Expendables 4’ he accidentally dislocated a stunt performer’s finger.
Stunt co-ordinator Alan Ng has compared the rapper and actor to a “tank” after he showed his strength during one scene when she was only supposed to barge a stuntman, but ended up dislocating their digit by mistake.
Ng told PopCulture.com: “50 Cent is very powerful and strong so that made it very easy to work with him.
“50 Cent is very powerful and strong, so he like a tank. He was actually so strong that in one of the scenes, he was supposed to barge into a stunt performer and his strength resulted in the guy going flying and dislocated his finger.
“The guy and his finger are OK now of course.”
Ng also worked with Megan Fox in the new movie, and admitted her work in the ‘Transformers’ movie franchise “definitely helped with her scenes”.
He explained: “She has a very good foundation with her dance background and she picks up choreography very fast when rehearsing or when we made any change on set.
“We played to the fact that Megan has a strong dance background. Megan’s style is very agile, flexible, and fast.”
Earlier this month, producer Kevin King Templeton admitted he has been delighted with the introduction of Fox and 50 Cent to the action franchise.
He said: “Each movie has different characters in there. In order to evolve, you can’t reinvent the wheel, but you have to freshen it up.
“You have to put new characters in there, but these characters have to fit, and they have to be right. It was kind of an extensive casting process, but I’m hoping we got the right balance.
“It was more a Christmas-centric movie, (and) we needed a foil for Jason, so Megan was cast in it. We thought the chemistry was perfect between the two of them, which is why we cast her.
“50 added some much-needed blood to the back team. You don’t reinvent the wheel, but you definitely polish the tires and give it a new coat.”

‘I’ve not had pain like it!’ Megan Barton Hanson going through ‘hell’ due to disease

OHMYGOSSIP — Megan Barton Hanson has been going through “hell” for the past five days while suffering excruciating pain.
The former ‘Love Island’ star believes she has been struck down with pelvic inflammatory disease – an infection of the female reproductive system which includes the womb, fallopian tubes and ovaries – and has not had “pain or fever quite like it” before.
She wrote on Instagram: “Which one of my queens have ever suffered from pelvic inflammatory disease?
“I’ve never heard of it but think i may have had my first experience, I’ve not had pain or fever quite like it.
“The last 5 days have been hell. (sic)”
The 29-year-old star appealed to her fans for “tips or remedies” to stop the pain reoccurring.
She added: “If you have any good Essex/London based Gynaecologists, please let me know or any tips or remedies for the pain and to stop it reoccurring.”
Megan’s pain comes after the star recently told how she first realised she was bisexual during her college days, which led to her engaging in a throuple relationship .
Speaking on Jamie Laing’s ‘Private Parts’ podcast, she said: “At college, I had a best friend, and she had a boyfriend and I felt myself getting weirdly jealous when she’d be like, ‘Oh, I’m going to hang out with him now’.
“And I didn’t know whether it was just normal or not. I’ve always just appreciated women.
“And I think from a young age, even in films, I would never really look at the man. So yeah, I had weird feelings for my friend from college but never like acted on it.
“And then I went and had a glamour photoshoot in the south of France and a woman was shooting me.
“She was hot and we were doing this sexy lingerie shoot together and it got a bit heated!
“When we got back to London, she was like, ‘I’ve got a boyfriend. But it’s an open relationship’. So, I started seeing them as a couple.”

Peter Kay branded Jimmy Savile ‘dirty old perv’ after watching paedophile lick TV boss’ hand

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Kay has remembered Jimmy Savile as a “dirty old perv”.
The ‘Car Share’ and ‘Phoenix Nights’ creator, 50, hit out at the late TV host – exposed as one of Britain’s most warped paedophiles after his death aged 84 in 2011 – as he recalled being left creeped out by watching him lick a female television executive’s hand.
He relived in his new book of anecdotes, ‘Big Adventures on the Small Screen’, how he decided to invite him onto his last episode of the BBC’s ‘The Sunday Show’ for his final ‘Peter Kay’s World Of Entertainment’ segment.
Peter said about watching Savile meet his executive producer Bridget Boseley: “I remember she offered him her hand, which Jimmy took, then he flipped it round to kiss the back of it, but before his lips touched her skin I saw a quick flick of his tongue licking the back of her hand.
“Urgh! ‘What was all that about Bridget?’ and I chatted about it later.
“She said, ‘He licked the back of my hand.’ ‘I know, I saw him, the dirty old perv.’”
Peter said ‘Jim’ll Fix It’ presenter Savile only agreed to appear in the show on the condition he received £500 in cash and a £1,000 box of cigars.
The comic added he was “very eccentric”, adding he “talked utter nonsense, spouting weird quotes, crap jokes, limericks” and made bizarre noises.
But he said Savile’ hand-lick was the only sign he personally saw of him being “immoral”.
Peter also featured Savile in his video for the 2005 Comic Relief single ‘Is This the Way to Amarillo’ – a decision he looked back on furiously during a later tour.
He told fans about the tune: “Very popular at kids’ parties. Number one for seven weeks, biggest-selling song of that year and now thanks to Jimmy Savile it’s on YouTube with a paedophile warning.
“Thanks for that Jimmy… dirty s***house.”
Peter also recalled in his new book how he was asked by a BBC boss to “cover up” images of Savile’s face on a BBC mural after news of his abuse broke.
He said about the TV executive who made the request: “I’ll never forget Peter Salmon, he said, ‘Here, could you do me a favour’ and he handed each of us a pile of big bright-yellow Children in Need Pudsey Bear stickers. “‘Could you find Savile and cover him up?’
“So there we were, up step ladders trying to find every image of Jimmy Savile so we could cover him up ironically just what the BBC had reportedly been doing for years.
“It was like some depraved ‘Where’s Wally’ or ‘Where’s Jimmy’.”

BBC issues new social media rules for top stars: ‘It’s a victory for presenter power!’

OHMYGOSSIP — New rules granting BBC stars the freedom to post on social media about political issues have been hailed a victory for “presenter power”.
Lord Alan Sugar, 76, joined Gary Lineker, 62, in expressing his approval of the revised guidelines.
Even though the rules require a small group of presenters of flagship programmes outside news and current affairs, including Lord Sugar and Gary, to refrain from endorsing or attacking a political party because of their “profile on the BBC”.
But they can express their views on immigration and other topical issues.
Other freelance presenters can weigh in on political controversies without breaching the BBC’s impartiality requirements, according to a new report that followed a review into the corporation’s social media guidelines, which was published by former ITN boss John Hardie.
Gary – recently caught in a storm over his political messages online that earlier this year led to him being suspended and reinstated by the BBC – said on X the new rules were “all very sensible”.
A BBC News source told The Independent: “This is a victory for presenter power. It confirms the climbdown Tim Davie (the BBC’s director-general) had to make over Lineker.
“Outside of news, there is a green light to share your views on any topic. The problem will be when the BBC gets dragged into controversial non-party political issues, like trans rights, by a presenter’s remarks.”
The new rules are the result of the BBC commissioning a review into how staff should use social media, after Gary likened the UK government’s language over the arrival of refugees in Britain to 1930s Germany on Twitter, now known as X.
Lord Sugar pledged to abide by the BBC’s new social media guidelines.
In 2019, the former Labour peer urged voters to reject it’s party’s then-leader Jeremy Corbyn and back the Conservatives.
Such a message would be banned under the new rules, which state that presenters cannot “endorse or attack a political party”.
A spokesman for the business tycoon said: “Lord Sugar is in receipt of the new rules and will abide by them.”
Other individuals working at the BBC aren’t required to abide by impartiality on social media, but are expected to follow the rules on “respect” and “civility” in their posts.

‘I’m very sad!’ Max Bowden talks ‘huge loss’ to EastEnders

OHMYGOSSIP — Max Bowden believes Brian Conley’s ‘EastEnders’ departure will be a “huge loss” to the soap.
The 28-year-old star – who plays Ben Mitchell in the BBC show – is “very sad” that Brian, who portrays Tom ‘Rocky’ Cotton, is leaving the programme, but he expects the star to “smash whatever he does next”.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I love Brian Conley, I am very, very sad. With what we do you see it happen all the time, people come and people go and it’s either down to personal circumstance or people wanting to try other things.
“Brian is an incredibly successful man, and he will go on to smash whatever he does next. It’s gonna be a huge loss to us, I’m sure he’s doing the right thing by him and I wish him all the best.”
Brian recently confirmed he is leaving ‘EastEnders’, and said he will depart with the BBC’s “blessings”.
The 62-year-old actor and comedian has played Rocky since May 2021, and while he admitted it was a “tough decision” to depart Walford, he made the choice for “many reasons”.
Speaking on YouTube, he said: “Hello lovely people it’s me Brian Conley, aka Rocky, sending out this message especially to all the ‘EastEnders’ fans.
“Now you may have heard reports that I am leaving ‘EastEnders’, and it was a tough decision but it is true – I am going, and I made the decision for many reasons.
“It is tough because there’s such a wonderful crowd in front of the camera and behind, and I loved my three years there.
“I have gone with their blessings at the Beeb and I am excited for the future and where it’s going to go.”
But Brian is “excited” for fans to see Rocky’s Albert Square exit, insisting it is “good”.
He added: “I’m also excited about Rocky’s exit as I know it’s good! Sending much love, all ‘EastEnders’ fans. Enough said.”

‘We might as well talk about it’: Martin Scorsese refused to ignore history in Killers of the Flower Moon

OHMYGOSSIP — Martin Scorsese refused to shy away from “rough history” in ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’.
The legendary filmmaker has helmed the new movie that tells the story of the Osage murders in 1920s Oklahoma and wanted to tackle the issue of violence towards Native Americans.
Speaking at the New York City premiere of the film on Wednesday (27.09.23) – where cast members including Leonardo DiCaprio and Lily Gladstone were absent due to the actors strike – Scorsese told The Hollywood Reporter: “It’s a terrific story, and it’s the kind of thing I think that was a time to try to deal with the subject matter.
“When we started to make the film, the climate wasn’t the same as it is now. I think we were just lucky in the sense that it’s being released at this time.”
The 80-year-old director added: “The thing is that there are certain things about our history, about ourselves as human beings, that if we hide them away, they’re not gonna go away. We might as well talk about it and try to show it.”
The Apple TV+ flick is based on David Grann’s book ‘Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI’ and the author agreed with Scorsese about addressing an episode from the past that has been neglected for far too long.
He said: “It is fundamentally about what happens when greed is fused together with a dehumanisation of another people, and what that can lead to, and what it led to in this case was genocidal crimes.”
Scorsese and the cast worked closely with the Osage Nation to make sure the culture was depicted accurately in the film and consultant Addie Roanhorse praised the ‘Gangs of New York’ director’s approach.
She said: “When Marty came in, he followed protocol to the tee, and it was like we almost instantly just like, ‘Yeah, he’s one of us.'”

James Gunn confirms three stars who will return in all-new DC Universe

OHMYGOSSIP — James Gunn has confirmed that three stars will be continuing in their DC Universe roles.
The studio recently underwent a huge overhaul with Gunn and Peter Safran appointed as co-CEOs last year and the filmmaker has confirmed three of the actors who will have a significant role to play in superhero movies going forward.
After fans quizzed the filmmaker about the future of DC, Gunn revealed on Threads: “Xolo Mariduena will continue playing Blue Beetle in the DCU, as Viola Davis will Amanda Waller, and John Cena will Peacemaker.”
Henry Cavill confirmed last year that he would not be returning as Superman and Gunn emphasises that “nothing is canon” following the release of the ‘Creature Commandos’ TV series.
The 57-year-old filmmaker said: “Nothing is canon until ‘Creature Commandos’ next year — a sort of aperitif to the DCU — then a deeper dive into the universe with ‘Superman: Legacy’ after that.
“It’s a very human drive to want to understand everything all the time, but I think it’s okay to be confused on what’s happening in the DCU since no one has seen anything from the DCU yet.
“And, yes, some actors will be playing characters they’ve played in other stories and some plot points might be consistent with plot points from the dozens of films, shows animated projects that have come from DC in the past. But nothing is canon until CC and Legacy.”
The change to the cinematic continuity comes after all of the 2023 DC movies, ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’, ‘The Flash’ and ‘Blue Beetle’ bombed at the box office.
The final movie slated for release this year is ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’, starring Jason Momoa, which will arrive in cinemas on December 20.

Ex-EastEnders star Preeya Kalidas rushed to hospital with ‘painful and bloody’ injury

OHMYGOSSIP — Former ‘EastEnders’ actress Preeya Kalidas was rushed to hospital after suffering a “painful and bloody” injury.
The 43-year-old star – who portrayed market stall worker Amira Masood in the BBC One soap from 2009 to 2012 – accidentally trapped her finger in a door while working out at the gym.
Following the incident, she had to go to A and E, and have a bandage applied to the area.
Preeya posted a picture of her injured finger on her Instagram Stories and wrote: “Getting on with my day. Then end up in A and E.
“Don’t trap your finger in doors.
“Painful and bloody.”
But she saw the funny side of the bandage she had applied.
Preeya shared a video of her digit, and wrote: “The nurse said, ‘I need to put this on like a condom.’ ”
But the star later revealed she had not broken her finger and didn’t need any stitches.
