‘I think every sister can relate to the bond between Elsa and Anna…’ Jess Wright shares why Frozen is so special to her

OHMYGOSSIP — Jess Wright says the Disney film ‘Frozen’ reminds her of the bond she has with her sister.
The former ‘TOWIE’ star and her younger sibling Natalya are huge fans of the 2013 musical movie, in which Princess Anna discovers that her sister Elsa, Queen of Arendelle, possesses magical ice powers.
The film is celebrating its 10th anniversary and Jess, 38, took her 17-month-old son Presley to visit displays recreating ‘Frozen’ scenes to mark the occasion in London’s Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square on Tuesday (03.10.23). The toddler was even dressed as popular character Olaf.
Speaking about the impact the movie has had on her life, Jess – who is also the sister of TV presenter Mark Wright and Josh Wright – said: “I think every sister can relate to the bond between Elsa and Anna in Disney’s ‘Frozen’ – that’s why my sister Natalya and I have loved the film since we first watched it together 10 years ago, even with 15 years between us, and have seen it so many times since.
“My son Presley is a fan of the magic of it all too and already has his very own Olaf toy. I love that I’ll get to continue watching it with him as he grows up.”
A Piccadilly Circus black taxi and classic red phone box in Leicester Square were given an ice-cold transformation overnight to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Disney’s ‘Frozen’.
The record-breaking movie has been a pop culture phenomenon since release, inspiring millions of toys, video games, books, sing-alongs, recipes, hairstyles and immersive live experiences – including a hit stage show.
Now, a new study commissioned by Disney from Dr Sarah Godfrey of the University of East Anglia, Lessons From Arendelle: The Cultural Phenomenon of Disney’s Frozen details its impact on society – from a tourism boom in Norway increasing by 40 per cent2 as a result of the country being the real-life inspiration for Arendelle, parents desperate to get their hands on must-have product for Christmas, to the rise of sing-along videos on YouTube – including 3.2 billion views of ‘Let it Go’ – and popularity of the name Elsa.
Godfrey’s study notes that the theme of sisterhood is a key factor in the film’s success, a reference supported by anecdotal feedback from young adults from around the world, as well as new research1 by Disney, resonating with one in two children. Half of parents (46 per cent) feel the characters had a positive impact on the representation of gender roles in animated films, and 33 per cent credited this for boosting their sons and daughters’ confidence.
Parents agreed that the movie’s themes positively affected their child, the top ones being kindness (44 per cent), courageousness (33 per cent), acceptance (30 per cent) and teamwork (29 per cent).
Three in four parents (71 per cent) said the timeless story of love, bravery and perseverance sparked their children’s imaginations and encouraged their children to role-play the characters or play with ‘Frozen’ toys and dolls.
Dr Sarah Godfrey, Associate Professor, Art and Media at the University of East Anglia, said: “‘Frozen’ is a global phenomenon which pervaded popular culture in a way we can’t ignore, having a massive impact on everything from the names we call our children, to inspiring multiple viral trends such as Elsa hair tutorials, celebrity lip synch battles to the popularity of the sing-along concept on YouTube and TikTok. It was the first time many young girls saw an act of sisterly love given more prominence over a romantic one. Elsa and Anna have been crucial in creating spaces for new female characters, not just within the Disney canon but in cinema and media culture more broadly.”
Claire Terry – SVP, Disney Consumer Products, Games and Publishing EMEA – said: “As we celebrate Frozen’s 10th anniversary and acknowledge its continued impact on audiences around the world, we’re looking forward to surprising Londoners by freezing over famous icons, complete with Elsa, Anna and Olaf products. We hope to inspire families to get into the Frozen spirit this month with new toy and dress-up ranges released – perfect to bring along to watch the film’s re-release in cinemas.”
A series of ‘Frozen’ celebrations has kicked off around the world, including exclusive fan screenings taking place throughout Europe this month. Frozen the Musical is also celebrating its second anniversary, having already attracted 1.5 million spectators in the UK alone. Fans will also be able to immerse themselves at the world’s first Frozen themed land, World of Frozen, at Hong Kong Disneyland set to open from 20 November 2023 and at the Kingdom Of Arendelle coming soon to Disneyland Paris. And earlier this year, Bob Iger also announced a third movie.
October will also see the new ‘Disney Frozen Podcast: Forces of Nature’ that extends the storytelling as an audio-first offering, complete with new characters and an original, standalone adventure set after the events of ‘Frozen 2’.
Jennifer Lee – the writer-and-director of ‘Frozen’ and ‘Frozen 2’ – has also joined the epic line up of creative visionaries supporting Disney’s Create 100, a global celebration of creativity marking 100 years of Disney storytelling.
The new initiative offers fans around the globe the chance to bid on unique items and experiences inspired by each creator’s personal connection to Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and 20th Century Studios’ stories and characters.
Jennifer donated a signed crew-exclusive ‘Frozen 2’ maquette of Elsa, which fans across 18 countries will be able to bid on from 12 October until 30 October 2023 with funds from auction sales going to Make-A-Wish.
For those re-recreating their love for ‘Frozen’ at home can visit flagship Marks and Spencers stores to discover the new range of fashion and beauty ‘Frozen’ products and take a trip to Hamleys in Regent Street to find the Frozen castle home to a range of dolls, playsets and soft toys.
A huge range of toys, clothes, costumes and products, such as the Mattel Elsa Singing Doll, DuneIm Frozen home range and a new H+M Frozen clothing collection, are available to buy now to mark the anniversary.

Take That ‘set to address bombshell Robbie Williams interview’ in new BBC documentary

OHMYGOSSIP — Take That are reportedly set to address Robbie Williams’ bombshell comments in a new documentary.
The ‘Let Me Entertain You’ hitmaker spoke to presenter Dermot O’Leary last year for BBC Two music show ‘Reel Stories’ as he delved into his struggles as part of the iconic boy band, and his difficult relationship with Gary Barlow.
According to The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column, remaining members Gary, Mark Owen and Howard Donald will join Dermot as guests in a future episode and get a chance to address his comments.
A source said: “When Robbie was on the show he talked about his ‘beef’ with Gary, which he took to levels ‘that were unnecessary and unkind’ — and how he worries Gary will still feel hurt about it all.
“The singer also said being in the band sparked ‘the onset of mental illness’, which included downing bottles of vodka after rehearsals and years of ensuing drug and alcohol abuse.
“Now Gary, Howard and Mark will be able to give their side of the story on a show which often leads to some seriously moving and candid moments.”
It’s said the episode was filmed last week, and will air later this year when the programme returns for a new series.
During his appearance on the show, Robbie said he was ‘covering up all of his insecurities, sadness, vulnerabilities with drinking and drinking’.
Reflecting on his relationship with Gary, he told Dermot at the time: “I think the thing is when I left Take That in 1995, it paid to be obnoxious. And I had beef with Gaz, but the levels I took it to were unnecessary and unkind.
“I can’t help but think that there might be a little bit of him that still has an ‘I hurt’ from those moments.
“It might be imagined, it might be real, but I love him and I just want him to know that I am genuinely not that guy.”

‘I’ll do it!’ Emma Stone wants to make a full length silent movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Emma Stone would love to make a silent movie when the Hollywood strikes are over.
The 34-year-old actress stars in director Yorgos Lanthimos’ new 30-minute short film ‘Bleat’ – which features no dialogue and is accompanied by a live music ensemble and full chorus – and she admitted it was a “dream come true”.
Speaking at New York Film Festival for the film’s premiere, she said: “I’m being serious. It’s my favorite thing to not have to speak.
“I wish often think we could cut many lines of dialogue because I think people can say a lot more without speaking.
“I mean, sure, sometimes they can say it with words. I like language…”
Stone and Lanthimos were able to discuss the project due to an interim agreement amid the SAG-AFTRA strike.
The movie is set on a small Greek island and follows themes of loneliness, death, love, desire and interactions between humans and animals.
It follows a young woman (Stone) who is devastated by the loss of her partner – played by Damian Bonnard – but still has “an animal instinct for life”.
After hearing how much the actress enjoyed working without dialogue, Lanthimos – who first collaborated with her on 2018’s ‘The Favourite’ and this year’s ‘Poor Things’, which they can’t discuss due to the strikes – suggested she should “make a silent feature”.
She asked the audience to “clap if you like that idea”, and she was met with an enthusiastic response.
She teased: “I’ll do it… once the strike is over!”
The pair joked that the filmmaker’s movies often return to themes of sex, death and goats, which is true of ‘Bleat’.
The actress quipped: “It’s, like, nonstop, every day. He calls me and he’s like, ‘Goats — what do you think? Death?’ I’m like, ‘OK, still? We shot this three years ago.’”

Barry Keoghan spent 10 dollars on Batman self-tape audition

OHMYGOSSIP — Barry Keoghan spent just $10 on his self-tape audition for ‘The Batman’.
The 30-year-old star tried out for the role of The Riddler in the movie, and while he lost out to Paul Dano, the actor’s budget ‘Clockwork Orange’-inspired audition tape did enough to impress director Matt Reeves and land him the part of The Joker.
Keoghan, who spent $10 on a cane and a hat for the tape, told Esquire magazine: “I just made it up. I wanted to make it Kubrick-y: symmetrical, the X on the back, the square doorframe, everything square.
“I just wanted swag to come across. Swag and endearing. It was just me giving my idea. And then I’s like, ‘I’ma send this in!’ ”
Last month, Keoghan explained his version of The Joker – a character previously portrayed by the likes of Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger, and Joaquin Phoenix – is “a bit charming and a bit hurt”.
The ‘Banshees of Inisherin’ star told GQ Magazine: “I wanted some sort of human in there behind the makeup.
“I want people to relate to him … [to know] this is a facade he puts on.”
Keoghan was told he had landed the Joker role during a phone call with his agent while he was having dinner with a pal in New York.
His agent told him at the time: “The Batman wants you to play the Joker – but you cannot tell anyone.”
Keoghan has been keen to land a comic book character role for years, and in 2013 he tweeted legendary Marvel Comics writer Stan Lee.
The ‘Top Boy’ star wrote at the time: “@TheRealStanLee Stan Lee, Please make me a SuperHero :). (sic)”

‘It’s the greatest feeling in the world!’ Adele Roberts confirmed for Dancing on Ice

OHMYGOSSIP — Adele Roberts has confirmed she has joined ‘Dancing on Ice’ – two years to the day since she was diagnosed with bowel cancer.
The 44-year-old broadcaster and DJ, who beat bowel cancer last year, will be the first person to take part in the ITV ice-skating show with a stoma bag, and she joked her colostomy bag, which she nicknames Audrey, is a “diva”.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’, she said: “Two years ago today I’d just been diagnosed with bowel cancer. I didn’t know what stage cancer I had at the time. I didn’t know if I was going to live or die.
“To think, two years on I’m sat here with you [Lorraine Kelly] talking about ‘Dancing on Ice’ – it’s the greatest feeling in the world.”
Asked if she is the first person to compete on ‘Dancing on Ice’ with a stoma, she said: “I think I am. Audrey is a diva. She is very excited to see you today, so she’s already been problematic.
“I’ve not seen her on ice yet, but we’re going to find out.
“All I want to say, Audrey, is, I only want to dance on the ice, I don’t want to be doing anything else on the ice. So stay inside please.”
Adele – who broke a world record when she became the fastest woman to complete the London Marathon with a stoma bag earlier this year – admitted ‘Dancing on Ice’ is going to be a “big challenge”, but she can’t wait “for the glam” on the show.
She added: “It’s ‘bricking it on ice’ for me!
“I think the hardest part is putting myself out there as I usually hide away.
“I did radio as it’s not visual. That’s going to be a big challenge. After cancer I have my life back; I actually can’t wait for the glam!
“I feel like I’m getting my life back together and I’m just excited for the future. Go on adventures, live my best life.”
Adele is the 10th celebrity to be announced, joining the previously confirmed former boxer Ricky Hatton, actress Claire Sweeney, actress and singer Hannah Spearritt, West End star Amber Davies, Olympic Champion and presenter Greg Rutherford, TV personality Miles Nazaire, ‘Gogglebox’ star Stephen Lustig-Webb, comedian and writer Lou Sanders, and former ‘EastEnders’ star Ricky Norwood.

‘I would’ve loved that’: David Gordon Green hoped that William Friedkin would live to see The Exorcist: Believer

OHMYGOSSIP — David Gordon Green is sad that William Friedkin did not live to see ‘The Exorcist: Believer’.
The director – who helmed the classic 1973 original horror film – passed away in August at the age of 87 and David was “curious” to find out what he would have thought of his new movie.
The ‘Halloween Ends’ director told A.Frame of watching the picture with Friedkin: “I would’ve loved that.
“I was looking forward to showing him the film because I never communicated with him. My understanding was that he didn’t want involvement in the film production, but he would give us his thoughts after the movie.”
Green added: “I was very curious to see what he would think, because I know he has been very critical and was very outspoken, but he was also a brilliant man. He didn’t have to love my movie, but I could learn from him, because he made many of my favourite movies.
“Like everyone, I was saddened at his passing, and I’m excited for his new film (‘The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial’) coming out. Everybody has to acknowledge that so many of the movies he made are monumental and will live forever and influence filmmakers like myself for years to come.”
The director described ‘The Exorcist’ – widely regarded as one of the greatest horror flicks of all time – as a “landmark film” that had a lasting impact on the genre.
Green, 48, said: “You see many horror movie gimmicks come and go and have their trends and fashions, but ‘The Exorcist’ feels so grounded. It feels like it is on earth. It’s very observational and clinical. It could happen.”

Gareth Edwards dismisses ‘total inaccuracy’ of Rogue One claims

OHMYGOSSIP — Gareth Edwards has rubbished claims that he lost control of ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’.
The 48-year-old filmmaker helmed the 2016 sci-fi spin-off flick before Tony Gilroy was hired to oversee extensive reshoots and has now hit out at the “total inaccuracy” of claims that he was sidelined during the closing stages of production.
During an appearance on KCRW’s ‘The Business’ podcast, Gareth said: “The stuff that’s out there on the internet about what happened on that film – there is so much inaccuracy about the whole thing.
“Tony [Gilroy] came in, and he did a lot of great work, for sure. No doubt about it. But we all worked together until the entire last minute of that movie. The very last thing that we filmed in the pickup shoot was the Darth Vader corridor scene. I did all of that stuff.”
Edwards took a lengthy break from filmmaking before returning with ‘The Creator’ and has refused to close the door on a return to franchise films.
Speaking with ComicBook.com, Gareth said: “I like franchises, obviously, or else I wouldn’t have done two of them. So there are things that I would still love to do in that arena.
“If I got to do them, I only want to do them if I can use this methodology and bring this stamp to it. Because you go into a certain factory, it’s going to turn out all the other things in the factory. So, it’s like trying to escape the factory and just do it this way.
He continued: “If someone was willing to go, ‘Okay, here’s the IP. Here’s the franchise, but go off and do it how you do things.’ That would be probably one of the best-case scenarios, I reckon.”

‘It was hard for him to compute!’ Big Brother’s Will Best reveals dad wanted him to go to Oxbridge

OHMYGOSSIP — Will Best says his dad “short circuited” when became a TV presenter rather than go to Oxbridge.
The ‘Big Brother’ host – who is helming the ITV reboot of the reality series with AJ Odudu – admitted his father wasn’t too pleased with his pivot towards hosting light entertainment TV instead of pursuing a more serious career and a university degree.
The 38-year-old television personality told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “My dad has always worked in charity and he wanted me to go to Oxbridge and work for a think tank and contribute to society in a positive way.
“When I quit advertising to become a TV presenter, that was a little hard for him to compute.
“Then I was like, ‘I’m hosting a show called Suck My Pop’ and he started to short circuit.”
Will revealed his “first job” was getting his “nipples waxed” by former glamour model Katie Price, who then got him to strip down so she could give him a more tanned look.
He said: “Then my first job was having my nipples waxed by Katie Price, who then gave me a full body spray tan with me wearing a pair of paper pants.”
Recently, the ex ‘Celebrity Coach Trip’ star was revealed to have a “penchant” for digging for bogeys, according to his co-host AJ.
She told the Daily Star newspaper: “Will’s got a penchant for picking his nose.”
Will said: “When we used to work together a long time ago, very occasionally, on a long shoot day, AJ might look across, and I might have occasionally been picking my nose, and biting my nail but they go hand in hand, right?
“You can’t have your nails too long if you pick your nose. You have to have the right length to get the good stuff.”
Despite being outed by her, the ex ‘Love Shaft’ host praised “perfect and amazing” AJ.
Will said: “There’s nothing AJ does that annoys me but now I feel like I should try and think of something. She’s just perfect and amazing.”

‘Everything got very serious’ Strictly’s Amy Dowden almost died amid cancer treatment

OHMYGOSSIP — Amy Dowden almost died amid her cancer treatment after she developed “life-threatening side-effects”.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ pro dancer has been keeping her fans updated with her progress after being diagnosed with stage three breast cancer, which has included posting on Instagram about shaving her head, undergoing a mastectomy to up her chances of survival, and freezing embryos to increase her probability to being a mother afterwards – but she has suffered serious chemotherapy side effects, including blood clots, sepsis and low blood pressure.
The 33-year-old dancer told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “After both my first cycles, I developed the life-threatening side-effects that can come with chemo, so I had it all in the first month.”
Amy doesn’t like to “dwell” on the negatives and is supported by her husband Ben Jones, who she married last year.
At first she “felt great” after beginning her treatment, but she eventually needed hospital treatment after collapsing.
She said: “I had a temperature and didn’t realise the severity of having a temperature.
“I stood up, collapsed, Mum rang the emergency number and they said ‘phone an ambulance immediately’. From there everything got very serious.
“I remember going into hospital and them telling me I had an infection, but the following day it got very bad, I was unresponsive to antibiotics for hours.
“My last memory is a load of doctors around me in the early hours of Sunday morning. On Monday, a nurse explained I had gone into septic shock. They said my blood pressure was that low my vital organs would have started failing.”
Amy cannot remember much from her time in hospital, but insisted her health was in a “dangerous” place.
She said: “I had severely low blood pressure, a low heart rate, I wasn’t passing urine for 14 hours, my infection markers were at dangerous levels. I had three different types of antibiotics, and I finally responded to the third type.”

‘We’re just very different!’ Love Island winner Jess Harding ‘sad’ after Sammy Root split

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Love Island’ winner Jess Harding feels “sad” after splitting from Sammy Root, but she is “getting there”.
The 23-year-old aesthetics practitioner and the 22-year-old project manager won the 10th series of the ITV2 dating show in July, but the pair went their separate ways just over a week ago.
When asked in an Instagram Q and A how she is doing since her break-up, Jess replied: “It’s been over a week now since we split, so I’m getting there. We shared a once in a lifetime experience together so of course I’m sad.”
Jess admitted she and Sammy broke up because they are “very different and behave different”.
She added: “I really don’t want to go into detail by doing a big statement, but we’re just very different and behave different and that’s it.”
Sammy recently claimed he was “shocked” to read about their split in the media this week, insisting he and Jess hadn’t had a chance to “speak in person” about their relationship status.
He wrote on his Instagram Story: “Yes, we had a private conversation regarding our relationship, but this was left up in the air as Jess is still away and we haven’t had a chance to speak in person.
“For me to then see today via the media that we had officially broken up came as a total shock. To be totally clear – I at least wanted a face-to-face conversation to see if our relationship could be saved and felt this would be the respectful way forward.”
The former couple scooped £50,000 between them when they won this summer’s ‘Love Island’.

Bobby Brazier was ‘desperate’ for fame as kid

OHMYGOSSIP — Bobby Brazier was “desperate” for fame as a youngster.
The ‘EastEnders’ star dreamt of hitting the big time after he lost his mother, the late ‘Big Brother’ star Jade Goody – who died aged 27 in 2009 after being diagnosed with cervical cancer when he was five and his little brother Freddie, 19, was four – and he craved getting “attention”.
The 20-year-old actor told Grazia magazine: “I think that as a kid, that’s all I wanted. I was desperate for that when I was younger. I made myself ready. I spent so much time making myself ready because I started to believe that could happen and I could have that.
“Because I wanted it so much. When I was 14, 15, even when I was 12, I remember having thoughts like that, desires like that. I spent a lot of my childhood years just wishing for attention.”
Bobby admitted his “cheeky” ‘EastEnders’ character Freddie is an “exaggerated version” of him in real life.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star – who is currently competing on the BBC One Latin and ballroom competition with his professional partner Diane Buswell, 34, alongside the likes of broadcaster Angela Rippon, 78, television presenter Angela Scanlon, 39, and Channel 4 News anchor Krishnan Guru-Murthy, 53 – thinks his mum would be “happy” about all his career success to date.
Bobby told OK! magazine: “‘She’d be happy that I’m doing something that makes me happy. Like all my friends and all of my family, and everyone that loves me is.
“They’re happy for me because they know how much I’m going to enjoy myself and how happy I am to just be here.”

AJ Odudu teases new Big Brother series will be the ‘most diverse’ yet

OHMYGOSSIP — AJ Odudu says the new ‘Big Brother’ will be the “most diverse” series yet.
The ex ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star – who is the show’s first Black presenter – has teased the ITV reboot of the revolutionary reality show will feature the most varied set of housemates that has ever been on the programme.
The 35-year-old TV presenter – who is co-hosting ‘Big Brother’ with Will Best, 38 – told the Metro newspaper: “I hear on the grapevine that it’s the most diverse set of housemates ever.”
AJ doesn’t think the show – which first debuted on Channel 4 in 2000 with presenter Davina McCall, 55, before moving to Channel 5 in 2011, with host and former winner Brian Dowling, 45, who was replaced by Emma Willis, 47, until its 2018 end – has received enough credit for its diverse line ups over the years.
She said: “That’s what’s always been so beautiful about ‘Big Brother’, and actually something that’s not been credited to the show enough.
“I don’t feel like ‘Big Brother’ has had its flowers for all of the diverse storylines and the openness and how we and learned about one another.
“This is the one and only show where you don’t need to do anything or be anything but interesting and how amazing is that, really.”
The former ‘The Voice UK’ presenter cited the example of trailblazing transgender housemates, such as winners Nadia Almada, 46, and Luke Anderson, 42, and how the public accepted them.
AJ said: “It’s interesting, because when we look back at the trans winners, we look back as a society, and we were really celebrating those trans people on screen, so why isn’t that being replicated in our day-to-day life now?
“I think everyone, as a society, are only just starting to have these conversations thoroughly within their own communities but also sometimes it’s easy to lose sight – progressive change takes such a long time to happen.
“You can’t just have a couple of trans winners on Big Brother and go, ‘Our work is done, we’re all at one, peace and love.’ Sadly, as we’ve experienced, that is not the case.”

Ross Kemp doesn’t get ‘sympathy’ from his family for gruelling documentary shoots

OHMYGOSSIP — Ross Kemp doesn’t “expect sympathy” from his family when it comes to his gruelling filming.
The 59-year-old actor turned documentary maker admitted he doesn’t “moan” about his job when he’s with his wife Renee O’Brien – with whom he has son Leo and twin daughters – because of the amount she has to do every day.
He told The Sun newspaper: “I don’t expect sympathy. You can’t come back and moan about the conditions in a prison when she has been doing two jobs — one being a mum and the other being a lawyer.
“If I wanted sympathy and looked for it I don’t think I would get very much — so there is no point in asking.
“Also, when you get critiqued for bringing the wrong socks by your twin daughters, it’s like, OK…”
The former ‘EastEnders’ star – who has written about his wild career in new book ‘Take Nothing For Granted: Tales From An Unexpected Life’ – insisted his daring shoots are nothing compared to the pressures of parenthood.
Ross – who also has son Oliver from a previous relationship – added: “I say it in the book, you think my job is hard but the hardest job you will ever do is being a parent.
“There is no road map — nothing is every perfectly right.
“You can read all the books in the world but your child will not be the one that is in that book.”
That’s not to say his documentaries aren’t a struggle to film, and he’s survived being shot at by the Taliban as well as finding himself held at gunpoint in Papua New Guinea.
He admitted it’s vital to find a “dark sense of humour” to help deal with such traumatic experiences.
He explained: “We also use trauma risk management which means sitting down and talking through trauma with your colleagues.
“That can be being shot at, you can be in a road traffic accident or your son has been killed by drug dealers.
“What keeps me up now isn’t necessarily those events, it’s worrying about not being around for my kids.”

‘We were lucky’: Patricia Hodge addresses idea of Miranda return

OHMYGOSSIP — Patricia Hodge doesn’t think ‘Miranda’ will ever return.
The 76-year-old actress – who played Miranda Hart’s mother in the BBC sitcom from 2009 to 2015 – thinks the show was “lucky to have as much of a moment” as it did, and pointed out that viewers can still see it on television as it continues to make new fans.
She’s quoted by the Daily Star newspaper as saying: “Speaking personally, I would be surprised if it returned.
“All comedies have their moment and I think we were lucky to have as much of a moment as we did with ‘Miranda’.
“But the show survives, you can still see it and it is continually attracting new viewers because it gets repeated across the world.”
Patricia revealed she even got spotted recently by an American pair after one of them recognised her from the show eight years after it ended.
She added: “I was approached recently by an American couple, and the woman looked at me and said, ‘Oh my God, you’re Miranda’s mother – my daughter is going to be amazed that we’ve met you!’
“So new audiences – younger audiences in many cases – will keep the show popular and in people’s minds for years to come.”
Meanwhile, the actress is staying busy and will return as Mrs. Pumphrey for a new series of Channel 5 drama ‘All Things Great And Small’.
And despite approaching her 77th birthday on Friday (29.09.23), Patricia is staying busy and is currently treading the boards alongside Nigel Havers in Noel Coward’s ‘Private Lives’ at the Ambassadors Theatre on the West End.
She said: “There are times when I think I must be mad to still be doing it at my age, but I know I am lucky to still be acting.”
