Damien Leone confirms Terrifier 4 is in the works and will be ‘an epic closure’ to Art the Clown’s story

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Terrifier’ director Damien Leone has revealed a fourth and final instalment in the series is in development.
The slasher franchise has been petrifying audiences since its debut in 2016 and the 42-year-old filmmaker has teased he is working on the fourth film which will be “an epic closure” to Art the Clown’s story.
Speaking with Variety, Leone said: “It will certainly be an epic showdown, an epic closure to this Art the Clown saga.
“The idea I’m toying with in my head would probably be in some regards the most experimental, so I can’t dive into it too much. Some really, really crazy things will happen in the next one.”
The director is celebrating the success of the newly-released ‘Terrifier 3’, which follows Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton) as he turns Sienna Shaw (Lauren LaVera) and her brother Jonathan’s (Elliott Fulam) Christmas into a living nightmare.
While some have been critical of the series due to its visceral gory scenes – with some being particularly vocal over Art’s off-screen murder of a child in the third flick – Leone has said he was always looking to “push the boundary” of what has come to be expected from a horror movie, but was also trying to avoid “a level of extreme distaste” with the intense violence.
He explained: “I’m always looking for lines to get up to, to push the boundary. Maybe just step right over it.
“But you can absolutely fall into a level of extreme distaste that I’m trying not to do. There’s a scene in the beginning where Art murders a child offscreen and you just hear it.
“I could have shown that and the glorious way that we executed the scene. I would never do that, because to me, that’s just completely off-putting and you’re going to alienate a large majority of your audience.
“It’s like you’re trying to shock the audience so much it just becomes desperate. I think it’s my job as an artist to try and walk that line in a more interesting way, in a more responsible way.”

Coronation Street star Bill Fellows announces sudden exit: ‘I have no regrets at all…’

OHMYGOSSIP — Bill Fellows has “no regrets at all” over leaving ‘Coronation Street’.
The 67-year-old actor has played Stu Carpenter on the ITV1 soap opera since October 2021 and while he hasn’t “ruled out” the idea of a comeback at some point, he thinks that his character has “evolved” since he joined as a homeless man, who had been wrongly imprisoned for murder in the years before his arrival.
He said: “I have no regrets at all. It is the right time to go for me and for Stu. I will look back with fond memories and I wouldn’t rule out coming back in the future.
“But Stu has evolved, we started off with a homeless guy who was wrongly accused of murder and then we get to the point three years later where this guy’s got almost a quarter of a million pounds and has cleared his name and made it a life for himself. I’m really pleased with the story, because it’s been fully, fully formed.”
During his time on the show, Stu has worked as a chef at Speed Daal and also struck up a relationship with his boss Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King) but he will leave during scenes set to air in Monday (14.10.24) night’s episode.
Having realised that his quest to try and mentor troubled teen Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan) has put Yasmeen and her business at risk, Stu tells her he has decided to go and live permanently with his granddaughter in Germany.
Away from ‘Coronation Street’, Bill is best known for his role as George Catrick in the hit Apple+ series ‘Ted Lasso’, but has been a regular face on British television since the 1980s with appearances in dramas such as ‘Byker Grove’, ‘Heartbeat’ and ‘Casualty’ over the years.
From 1997 until 1998, he had a main role in the Sky One series ‘Dream Team’, which also featured his future ‘Corrie’ co-star Alison King, who has now played Carla Connor for nearly 20 years.
Bill had previously auditioned for the role of Richard Lucas, who is the long-lost brother of cafe owner Roy Cropper (David Neilson), but the part eventually went to Paul Brown.
He said: “I had yes [thought about doing a soap before], in fact, I auditioned for the role of Roy’s brother, Nina’s dad before I got the role of Stu. I wasn’t right for the part but it was for three weeks so it was fate really because I got this part and stayed three years. I am so proud to have been in ‘Corrie’. It is a massive part of all our lives, especially at my age, 67, it has been around all my life.”
‘Coronation Street’ is on ITV at 8pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday and available to stream from 7am on ITVX.

Phillip Schofield’s mum Pat dead aged 88

OHMYGOSSIP — Phillip Schofield’s mother has died aged 88.
The former ‘This Morning’ presenter, 62, posted a string of Instagram Story tributes to Pat on Monday (14.10.24) night, hours after she passed away, saying he “held her, loved her, and hugged her” during her final days.
He wrote over a throwback picture of him smiling alongside his mum: “Over three days we held her, loved her, hugged her and said everything that needed to be said.
“She was calm, peaceful, beautiful and dignified. I will forever be proud and privileged that she was my mum.”
Phillip also sent his “eternal thanks” to medics and the accident and emergency department in Truro, Cornwall, who he said had been his and his mum’s “angels”.
He concluded his caption with a heartbroken emoji alongside the words: “I love you mum, forever.”
His mum’s death comes 16 years after the TV host’s father Brian was killed by a heart attack in 2008 aged 72.
Phillip’s grief comes after he made his TV comeback with his Channel 5 ‘Cast Away’ show, on which he claimed he had been “fired” from ITV for “someone else’s crime”.
The former daytime host stepped down from presenting the channel’s flagship ‘This Morning’ breakfast show in May 2023 amid huge publicity over an affair he had with a junior colleague.
He claimed on ‘Cast Away’ he didn’t resign from the show – and said he was sacked over a separate wave of negative publicity over the conviction of his paedophile brother Timothy, 54, who was sentenced to 12 months in jail in April 2023 of 11 sexual offences involving a child between October 2016 and October 2019, including two of sexual activity with a child.
Phillip said on the final episode of his desert island series about how he flew into a rage when his agent called him to say he was being let go from ITV: “My phone rang and I picked it up: ‘Mate are you somewhere quiet?’ – which is never a good sign.”
He added his agent told him: “Erm, I’ve got a bit of a shock. I’m afraid you’ve been let go from ‘This Morning’.
“That’s it, it’s done. You’re not going back on Monday.”
Phillip said he asked: “What? Because of what?”, as his agent replied: “I think it’s the publicity mate.”
The TV host went on: “(I told my agent) that’s got nothing to do with me… that has nothing to do with me. Why would I be sacked for something that somebody else did?”
He said: “I’ve just been fired. Because of him. Because I was becoming more of a story than the programme. It was better for the show, better for the channel.
“And I agreed to say that I’d resigned because it would be neater for everybody.
“I was always open and honest with everyone at work about what was happening with my brother. I was fired for the bad publicity. For someone else’s crime.
“And the thing is, about a week later, I blew my own wheels off with everything else, because I thought the only way to even begin to put this right for everybody is to do a full mea culpa.
“I came clean about my affair. What people don’t realise is, I wasn’t fired from ‘This Morning’ when I admitted lying. It was before. Because of someone I used to call brother.
“But that is my last story, looking back.”
An ITV source has denied Phillip’s claims he was fired over his brothers crimes, with a source telling the Daily Mirror: “Phillip’s new comments are simply untrue… we stood by him through his brother’s court case and he then stepped away when things became too much.
“There was a lot going on and some relationships on the programme had become untenable as was reported at the time.
“He then admitted himself he had been lying about an affair and he resigned from ITV altogether.
“We didn’t sack him, he lied to us and then he resigned, there is not much else to say and we as a network just want to move on.”

Rob Brydon lands new role hosting innovative BBC show

OHMYGOSSIP — Rob Brydon is hosting new adventure series ‘Destination X’.
The ‘Gavin and Stacey’ star – who is also known for being at the helm of ‘Would I Lie To You’ since 2009 – has landed a new job presenting the upcoming reality competition show, which the BBC says will “combine spectacular adventure travel and immersive gameplay with the ultimate guessing game”.
In a statement, Rob said: “How could I turn down the opportunity to become the mastermind of ‘Destination X’, the thrilling new travel adventure series coming to the BBC next year?
“It’s a show that turns the whole of Europe into a board game – manipulating the players and the audience at home along the way.
“I can’t wait to be the puppet master orchestrating every twist and turn as our contestants are taken on a journey where everything is not as it seems. It’s going to be a wild ride!”
The 59-year-old comedian – who will reprise his role as Uncle Bryn in the upcoming ‘Gavin and Stacey’ Christmas special – is no stranger to travel either, having starred with Steve Coogan in ‘The Trip’.
Catherine Catton, Head of Factual Entertainment and Events at the BBC, added: “Rob is the perfect host to guide our cast and audience over the course of this extraordinary road trip where nothing is quite what it seems, and we are delighted to be working with him on this amazing series.”
The show is designed to “merge fantasy with reality” as contestants “embark on the trip of a life time” with no clue where they actually are.
They’re taking with figuring out the mystery locations, with the blacked-out Destination X bus seeing the journey transform “nto a real-life boardgame with challenges designed to offer clever clues as to their location, along with a few misdirects to keep them, and the viewers, always guessing”.
The BBC said in a press released: “At the end of each episode, contestants must guess where they are and the furthest from the actual location will leave the competition.
“The first player to reach the final destination, Destination X, will be crowned the winner.
“With high stakes and mind-blowing spectacular gameplay, the series will continuously keep viewers engaged and take them along for the ride.”

Terrifier filmmaker has ‘no definitive answer’ on gory franchise’s future

OHMYGOSSIP — Damien Leone has “no definitive answer” on the future of the ‘Terrifier’ franchise.
The 42-year-old writer and director is the man behind the gruesome and gory horror saga which has taken his character Art The Clown from a cult favourite to a box office juggernaut after the recent release of ‘Terrifier 3’.
Asked about the future of the series, he told Variety: “There is no definitive answer at this time regarding how many more films I will make before concluding the ‘Terrifier’ saga.”
Leone admitted while he does have an “epic” ending figured out, he isn’t sure exactly how many movies it’ll take to get there.
He added: “Personally, I can’t see it going further than one or two more films, but only time will tell.
“For now, all I can say with certainty is that I know how it ends, and it will be epic.”
The latest installment pulled in $18.3 million (£14m) over its opening weekend to top the box office charts in North America.
David Howard returned as Art for the film, which brings all the twisted horror to the festive season.
He recently told the same outlet: “I’m always looking for lines to get up to, to push the boundary. Maybe just step right over it.
“But you can absolutely fall into a level of extreme distaste that I’m trying not to do. There’s a scene in the beginning where Art murders a child offscreen and you just hear it.
“I could have shown that and the glorious way that we executed the scene. I would never do that, because to me, that’s just completely off-putting and you’re going to alienate a large majority of your audience.”
Before the film hit theatres, Leone teased the upcoming fourth chapter in the saga, suggesting it could be the “most experimental” in the series.
He added to the same outlet: “It will certainly be an epic showdown, an epic closure to this Art the Clown saga.
“The idea I’m toying with in my head would probably be in some regards the most experimental, so I can’t dive into it too much. Some really, really crazy things will happen in the next one.”

Harrison Ford on Marvel: We’re silly if we sit around regretting the change

OHMYGOSSIP — Harrison Ford thinks it is “silly” to avoid Marvel movies, because they produce “good experiences for an audience”.
The 82-year-old actor will make his Marvel debut in ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ next year, as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross/ Red Hulk, because he wanted to embrace the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) rather than “sit around regretting the change”.
He told GQ Magazine: “I mean, this is the Marvel universe and I’m just there on a weekend pass. I’m a sailor new to this town.
“I understand the appeal of other kinds of films besides the kind we made in the ’80s and ’90s.
“I don’t have anything general to say about it.
“It’s the condition our condition is in, and things change and morph and go on.
“We’re silly if we sit around regretting the change and don’t participate.
“I’m participating in a new part of the business that, for me at least, I think is really producing some good experiences for an audience. I enjoy that.”
Hollywood director Quentin Tarantino recently claimed Marvel characters have become the “stars” of the films, rather than the actors, nowadays.
But Ford believes movies will “find” stars if they are required.
Quizzed on the death of Hollywood movie stars, he said: “Oh, I think it’s rubbish.
“I don’t think the question is whether or not there are any movie stars.
“There’s wonderful actors coming up every day.
“Whether or not they become movie stars is really not the point.
“If movies need stars, they will find them.
“I’ve never understood being a movie star. I’m an actor. I tell stories.
“I’m part of a group of people who work together, collaborate on telling stories. I’m an assistant storyteller. That’s what I am.”
Ford’s comments come after Tarantino alluded to the loss of movie stars being down to the “Marvel-ization of Hollywood movies”.
Speaking on the ‘2 Bears, 1 Cave’ podcast, he said: “Part of the Marvel-ization of Hollywood is… you have all these actors who have become famous playing these characters.
“But they’re not movie stars. Right? Captain America is the star. Or Thor is the star. I mean, I’m not the first person to say that.
“I think that’s been said a zillion times… but it’s like, you know, it’s these franchise characters that become a star.
“I’m not even putting them down frankly, to tell you the truth.
“But that is one of the … the legacy of the Marvel-ization of Hollywood movies.”
Tarantino also insisted his “only axe to grind against” Marvel movies was they are “the only things that seem to be made”.

Katya Jones cannot bear to watch Wynne Evans ‘being portrayed as someone he’s not’

OHMYGOSSIP — Katya Jones cannot bear to watch her ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ partner Wynne Evans “being portrayed as someone he’s not” following their “silly joke” last weekend.
The 52-year-old opera singer has come under fire from viewers after Katya appeared to move Wynne’s hand back as he placed it across her waist during Saturday night’s (12.10.24) live show, but the 35-year-old professional dancer has insisted Wynne only makes her “smile”.
Speaking on ‘Strictly’ spin-off ‘It Takes Two’ while sitting alongside Wynne, she said: “The idea that it made me feel uncomfortable or offended in any way is total nonsense, and those that have doubts, you guys have got it wrong.
“So hopefully this will be the end of it, and you just keep making me smile.
“I can’t sit here watching this man being portrayed as someone he’s not.”
Following the hand incident, Katya took to social media to insist that and another situation, in which she appeared to decline a high five with her partner, were both “inside jokes”.
The dancer has now doubled down on the claim, and admitted it was a “silly” and “bad joke”.
She said: “In fact, it couldn’t be further away from the truth.
“So I have to make this absolutely clear that this whole incident, with the hand and the high five on Saturday night, was an inside joke between Wynne and I.
“Was it a silly joke? Yes, was it a bad joke? Yes.”
Katya’s comments come after Wynne admitted this week he has been left “heartbroken” about the fallout from the quip.
Speaking on BBC Radio Wales, he said: “I’m absolutely heartbroken by the things that have been written about me in the last day.
“It’s not nice to live in that time, but basically Katya and I are really, really close and we’re really good friends, and on Saturday night we made a stupid joke.
“It was a stupid joke that went wrong, OK? We thought it was funny. It wasn’t funny. It has been totally misinterpreted.”

I’m A Celebrity bosses splurge big money on ten-bedroom mansion to launch new series

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ chiefs have splashed out £21 million on a mega mansion to launch the new series.
Executives on the ITV reality favourite have booked the ten-bedroom Diamond Head estate that is set to be used in the opening episode when the show returns to screens next month with WAG Coleen Rooney expected to be in the line-up after signing a mega-money deal to take part.
The property in Palm Beach, Queensland was formerly owned by motorbike racing world champion Mick Doohan and boasts a private runway, helipad and a wine cellar with 2,000 bottles.
It has previously hosted A-list Hollywood stars including Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp, who severed his finger there after a row with then-wife Amber Heard in 2015.
A TV source told The Sun newspaper: “Diamond Head is one of Australia’s priciest properties so will suit Coleen down to the ground.
“The new location will bring showbiz sparkle to the series and the ‘I’m A Celebrity’ team are finalising details about how exactly the property will be used and for how long.”
Another ‘I’m A Celebrity’ source added: “Bosses are determined to pull out all the stops for this year’s launch and make it as visually spectacular as ever.
“Viewers can expect lots of surprises and everyone’s very excited about the celebrities lined up for the new series.”
Coleen, 38, is thought to have put pen to paper on a deal that eclipses the £1.5 million fee that Reform UK politician Nigel Farage pocketed to appear in last year’s series.
A source told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “‘I’m A Celeb’ bosses have pulled off a huge coup getting Coleen for the jungle this year and the team are thrilled to have her on board.”
She is set to be joined on the programme by former ‘X Factor’ judge Tulisa Contostavlos, ‘Loose Women’ panellist Jane Moore and ‘Coronation Street’ actor Alan Halsall.

Nick Knowles needs two operations following Strictly Come Dancing injuries

OHMYGOSSIP — Nick Knowles needs two operations following his ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ exploits.
The ‘DIY SOS’ presenter and his professional partner Luba Mushtuk became the third couple to leave the BBC show at the weekend and he explained that he will have to undergo two procedures to be fit to dance at his wedding to partner Katie Dadzie next year after sustaining injuries to both his arm and knee during his time on the programme.
Speaking on ‘Strictly’ spin-off series ‘It Takes Two’, Nick said of his elimination: “I think it was the right result in the end and it means I can get the various bits falling off sorted.
“I’m having an operation on my arm this week and an operation on my knee in a couple or three weeks.”
The 62-year-old star explained that Luba will be choreographing the first dance when he ties the knot with his fiancee Katie in 2025.
Nick told host Fleur East: “After I’ve had my operations I’m going to do some more training with Luba and I’ve got some important things to do like maybe next year join the ‘Strictly’ tour.
“But more importantly I’m getting married next year and Luba’s going to help choreograph the first dance.”
Luba, 34, added: “He always really wanted to do an Argentine Tango.”
Nick explained that he has discovered a love of dancing during his brief stint in the competition but was disappointed for his partner that they couldn’t go further into the series.
He said: “I fell in love with dancing.
“You don’t realise that Luba has worked out all these dances and I felt I’d let Luba down so I desperately wanted to do more.”

Mrs Brown’s Boys star Brendan O’Carroll sorry for making ‘clumsy’ joke where ‘racial term’ implied

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Mrs Brown’s Boys’ star Brendan O’Carroll has apologised for making a “clumsy” joke where a “racial term was implied”.
The 69-year-old actor and the show’s creator made the quip during a read-through for the programme’s upcoming Christmas special, resulting in the BBC suspending production while an investigation was launched.
Brendan – who stars in the show as potty-mouthed matriarch Agnes Brown – told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “At a read-through of the Mrs. Brown’s Boys Christmas specials, there was a clumsy attempt at a joke, in the character of Agnes, where a racial term was implied.
“It backfired and caused offence which I deeply regret and for which I have apologised.”
A source told the publication: “The whole production of the Christmas special was paused while the investigation was carried out.
“The entire cast and crew were stood down in the wake of the comment as the BBC tried to get to the bottom of it.”
However, rehearsals have since restarted following Brendan’s apology.
The BBC said: “Whilst we don’t comment on individuals, the BBC is against all forms of racism and we have robust processes in place should issues ever arise.”
Earlier this week, Brendan revealed he had landed a new BBC comedy series called ‘Shedites’, which will feature legendary comedian Tommy Cannon in a leading role.
Brendan was quoted by The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column as saying: “It’s using comedy to touch on men’s mental health.
“The BBC loved the pilot. Hopefully it will be out in the fall.”
A pilot episode has been penned and is thought to have been well-received by BBC bosses.

Georgia Harrison: Celebrity SAS Who Dares Wins victory is ‘turning point’ in life

OHMYGOSSIP — Georgia Harrison says passing the ‘Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins’ course is a “turning point” in her life to “really overcome” recent trauma she’s faced.
The former ‘Love Island’ star, 29, and professional boxer Lani Daniels, 36, were the only two stars who passed the hellish eight-day SAS training course in the latest series of the Channel 4 show.
Georgia – who helped change the law after her 34-year-old ex Stephen Bear was jailed in March 2023 after he was found guilty of sharing a private video of the pair having sex – admitted the brutal ‘Celebrity SAS’ experience is “one of the biggest achievements” of her life.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “It made me a lot stronger and it was almost like an actual turning point in my life to really overcome all the trauma and challenge I’ve been through the year before.
“I’m like, ‘Right this is my time to come back fighting, come back stringer and move into a whole new era of my life.’
“I’ve definitely felt a shift in my energy, my vibration, my ability to handle things.”
After being told by Chief Instructor Billy Billingham and his team of Directing Staff (DS) – Foxy (Jason Fox), Rudy Reyes and Chris Oliver – that she had passed the course, the reality TV star and campaigner told Lani she was too “traumatised” to celebrate.
Georgia said: “I don’t know if I feel happy yet, I’m so traumatised.”
Monday night’s (14.10.24) episode saw the final recruits being handed to expert interrogators for the ultimate psychological and physical challenge.
After completing the course, Lani told Georgia: “I can’t believe we’re the only two that done it.”
Foxy admitted Georgia and Lani had “outshone” the men on the no-nonsense course.
He said: “This show has shown me that women are f****** tough. They’re resilient.
“They have outshone the men that have been on this course.”

David Jason reveals which 2 iconic UK actors stopped him landing 2023 movie roles

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir David Jason lost out on two 2023 movie roles to Sir Michael Caine and Jim Broadbent.
The ‘Only Fools and Horses’ legend – who is best known for playing Derek ‘Del Boy’ Trotter in the iconic BBC sitcom – tried out for the lead part in movie ‘The Great Escaper’, in which Michael played Bernard Jordan, who escaped from his care home to attend the 70th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings in France.
In his new book, ‘This Time Next Year’, David wrote: “I would love to be able to declare that my collected film work on DVD would make an elegant shelf of high-class cinematic experiences to browse among an evening.
“I fear, however, that it may look more like the contents of a box pulled out from under a table at a car boot sale.
“I thought it was going to be me escaping from the care home and going to look for my Dun-kirk chums.
“It’s the hope that kills you.”
David was also keen to land the lead role in ‘The Unlikely Pilgrimage Of Harold Fry’, but he found out via a newspaper that Jim had beaten him to the part.
It comes after Jim previously tried out for the role of ‘Only Fools and Horses’ character Del Boy in the 1980s, and was offered the part.
But he had to decline the opportunity, due to his West End commitments.
Speaking previously on ‘The Graham Norton Show’, Jim said: “Originally, I was the second choice for Del Boy.
“The first choice was Enn Reitel, but he didn’t fancy it and I couldn’t do it because I was doing a show in the West End.”
But he is glad David was available to take on the legendary role.
He said: “Luckily, David Jason was available, so my biggest contribution to British culture is not being available!”

Donald Trump blasts ‘fake and classless’ biopic The Apprentice

OHMYGOSSIP — Donald Trump has lambasted ‘The Apprentice’ as “fake and classless”.
The new film follows the controversial businessman (Sebastian Stan) in the 1970s as he rises from a New York real estate mogul to a figure synonymous with wealth and power under the tutelage of right-wing lawyer and political fixer Roy Cohn (Jeremy Strong), and now the former US president has fumed about the “defamatory” picture and said it’s a “politically disgusting hatchet job” designed to sabotage his 2024 election campaign.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, he wrote: “A FAKE and CLASSLESS movie written about me, called, ‘The Apprentice’ (Do they even have the right to use that name without approval?), will hopefully ‘bomb’.
“It’s a cheap, defamatory and politically disgusting hatchet job, put out right before the 2024 Presidential Election, to try and hurt the Greatest Political Movement in the History of our Country, ‘MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!'”
Trump also hit out at writer Gabe Sherman for the flick’s depiction of his late ex-wife Ivana Trump (played by Maria Bakalova) as it contains a scene in which he appears to sexually assault her.
He continued: “My former wife, Ivana, was a kind and wonderful person, and I had a great relationship with her until the day she died. The writer of this pile of garbage, Gabe Sherman, a lowlife and talentless hack, who has long been widely discredited, knew that, but chose to ignore it.
“So sad that HUMAN SCUM, like the people involved in this hopefully unsuccessful enterprise, are allowed to say and do whatever they want in order to hurt a Political Movement, which is far bigger than any of us. MAGA2024!”
Previously, Sebastian Stan had insisted he wanted to portray Trump as accurately and fairly as possible in the Ali Abbasi movie, though knew his performance as the businessman would be the subject of controversy anyway as a result of the former president’s polarising political career.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the ‘Thunderbolts*’ star said: “They think he’s either God’s son or he’s Lucifer incarnate, and I think we need to bring him back down to earth in the hope of understanding.”

Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson to lead Neil Diamond tribute band film Song Sung Blue

OHMYGOSSIP — Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson are to star in the musical movie ‘Song Sung Blue’.
The 56-year-old actor and the ‘Almost Famous’ star, 45, will lead the Focus Features film, where they play a married couple who form a Neil Diamond tribute band.
‘Song Sung Blue’ – which is being directed and written by Craig Brewer – is based on Greg Koh’s 2008 documentary of the same name, which followed the true story of Milwaukee couple Mike and Claire Sardina, two luckless musicians who went on to become local legends by performing hits from the ‘Sweet Caroline’ singer under the name ‘Lightning and Thunder’.
Jackman and Hudson will be joined in the cast by Michael Imperioli, Fisher Stevens, Jim Belushi, Ella Anderson, King Princess, as well as Mustafa Shakir, and Hudson Hilbert Hensley.
Jackman was recently seen in the Marvel blockbuster ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’, where he reprised his role as the iconic mutant superhero opposite Ryan Reynolds’ ‘Merc with a Mouth’ after taking a seven-year hiatus from the part.
Even though he loved playing Wolverine again, the actor admitted he didn’t miss portraying the character “for a long time”.
Speaking with Variety, ‘The Greatest Showman’ star said: “I didn’t miss it for a long time. And then, literally, it came to me one day as I was driving down to the beach. I knew I wanted to do this. I literally stopped the car, got out and called Ryan. He said, ‘Are you serious?’, I said, ‘I’m serious.’ And I hung up the phone.”
While he had “zero reservations” about reprising the character in the flick, Jackman insisted the team had to give him and fans a “good reason for it to exist” after Wolverine’s heroic sacrifice in ‘Logan’.
He continued: “I thought I should probably call my agent. I had zero reservations about returning, but I was really happy with ‘Logan’ I said to these guys, ‘We’ve got to make a good reason for it to exist.’”

Giovanni Pernice to return to UK screens in January

OHMYGOSSIP — Scandal-hit Giovanni Pernice is set to return to UK screens in “early 2025”.
The axed ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional had already filmed his stint on Channel 4’s reality show ‘Celebrity Hunted’ in 2022, but it was pulled from screening last year, and after the investigation into his conduct and alleged bullying on the BBC One Latin and ballroom show, he’s set to appear on the rival channel in January.
A source told The Sun: “It was absolutely right to shelve Hunted while the BBC took the time to unravel the claims against Giovanni.
“It was filmed in 2022 and due to screen last year, but will now air in early 2025.”
The broadcaster was reported to have upheld just six of the 17 complaints made against Giovanni.
He apologised to ‘Sherlock’ star Amanda Abbington after BBC bosses concluded a review into the Italian’s conduct, but in her first interview since the findings were published, Amanda suggested she was considering further legal action.
Amanda told Newsnight host Victoria Derbyshire she was “taking guidance from my lawyer on a day-to-day basis” when asked how she will proceed after the report’s findings were released.
She added: “There’s a 30-page report that me and my lawyers are still digesting. There are still things in there that are unresolved.”
And Giovanni – who still appears on the Italian version of ‘Strictly’ and is embarking on his own solo tour ‘The Last Dance’ next year – reportedly assumes that he will be back the show in 2025.
A source told The Daily Mirror newspaper: “Giovanni has not given up on appearing on the ‘Strictly’ stage. As far as he is concerned, he has been cleared and there is no reason why he couldn’t return. He has told his pals he is hoping to be back next year and is keen to speak to the BBC about it. He still feels very much part of the fold and has a massive fan base who would no doubt welcome him back. But of course, the final decision will be made by BBC bosses.”

Hannah Waddingham is ‘too busy’ to date

OHMYGOSSIP — Hannah Waddingham is “too busy” for dating.
The 50-year-old ‘Ted Lasso’ star has confessed she can’t remember the last time she went out on a date with a man and fears she hasn’t found love yet because she’s “a bit picky” and won’t settle for anyone who isn’t “fabulous”.
She told The Sun newspaper: “It’s so long since I had a first date, I honestly can’t remember … I’m so busy and just a bit picky.
“I want a guy that scoops me up and goes, ‘I’ve got you, I don’t care if you’ve got your make-up on or not, I’m happy to lie in bed with you and have Marmite on toast and a glass of milk’.
“And just be a lovely positive, charismatic soul. I’m 50 and I’m like, ‘Dude, if you are not going to step up, step off and be gone. Sod off until someone fabulous comes along’. I’d rather hang with my girlfriends and gay friends and be respected.”
Hannah went on to reveal her dating deal-breaker would be a “bad kiss”.
She explained: “What’s my deal breaker? I’m going to be very basic – a bad kiss. You know that nothing else works, nothing else is going to work. But also eye contact, eye contact is key.”
Hannah was previously in a relationship with Italian businessman Gianluca Cugnetto for more than a decade and they are parents to a daughter, Kitty, who was born in 2015.
The actress previously opened up about her dating “criteria” during an appearance with Michelle Visage on the ‘Rule Breakers’ podcast, saying: “I’m a pretty picky girl really and have such a very specific kind of criteria of things.
“One of the main things with guys, just come on man, positivity – positivity and charisma and I’m your gal.
“But there’s an awful lot of misogs [miserable old gits] out there. I don’t need it … I don’t go much on stereotypical cutey pie, whatever, sexy, whatever.”
