Coronation Street Whodunnit underway with Ronnie and Mason early suspects

OHMYGOSSIP — A huge new ‘Coronation Street’ Whodunnit is underway after evil Joel Deering’s body was discovered in a river.
Viewers were shocked on Monday night (14.10.24) when Joel’s body surfaced, and a post mortem revealed he died before he entered the water.
Several Weatherfield residents looked concerned as DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) announced Joel’s death was now being treated as a murder investigation.
Kit starts his investigation by informing both Lauren (Cait Fitton) and Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown), whose lives Joel tried to ruin, that he has been murdered.
Lauren has a strong motive after Joel tried to kill her unborn baby and frame her for the crime, and he carried out plenty of other violence and abuse against her.
Over the coming weeks, ‘Corrie’ viewers will see several flashbacks as they try to piece together clues to figure out who may have bumped off Joel.
The first suspects are Ronnie (Vinta Morgan), uncle of Joel’s wronged fiance Dee-Dee, and bully Mason (Luca Toolan), who has tried to turn his life around recently.
The initial flashback will air on Wednesday night (16.10.24), as viewers will be transported back to that fateful night of September 27th, when Joel disappeared.
Suspicions about Joel’s whereabouts began to grow when he failed to appear in court.
Over the coming weeks, Kit will be pulled in different directions as he tries to work out who the culprit is.
What’s more, DS Swain (Vicky Myers), who was made to take a step back from the case, will set about her own inquiries.
‘Corrie’ has promised there are “many more twists and turns to come” before viewers find out just who was responsible for Joel’s death.

EastEnders director teases special new year episodes ‘packed with icons’

OHMYGOSSIP — EastEnders’ new year episodes will be “packed with icons”.
Christopher McGill, who directs episodes of the BBC One soap, has teased fans they have some “monstrous” episodes to look forward to when the programme sees in 2025.
He wrote on X: “Week Two on our monstrous New Year @bbceastenders episodes.
“A room packed (PACKED) with EastEnd icons. #continuingdrama (sic)”
Chris’ comment has sparked speculation that several other big-name ‘EastEnders’ legends could be set to return to the soap.
It comes after Tracy-Ann Oberman reprised her role as Chrissie Watts, and Walford also welcomed Patsy Palmer (Bianca Jackson) and Michael French (David Wicks) back.
Louisa Lytton is also due to return to Albert Square to reprise her role as Ruby Allen.
What’s more, it was recently reported that Nancy and Lee Carter (Maddy Hill and Danny Hatchard) could be heading back to the soap to film a funeral episode, but it’s not yet known who has passed away.
‘EastEnders’ is gearing up to celebrate its 40th anniversary in February.
Last month, BBC bosses confirmed plans for the show to go live to celebrate the milestone – and viewers will be able to decide the outcome of a storyline in a first-of-its-kind twist.
The corporation confirmed there will be a live episode broadcast from BBC Elstree Centre as part of the anniversary week celebrations, and there will be an interactive element to the special episode, in which viewers can choose the outcome of a love story.
While the characters involved are yet to be revealed, the cast and crew will be able to adapt the scene to portray whatever the public has voted for.
Speaking about the live episode, Chris Clenshaw, EastEnders’ Executive Producer, said: “The 40th anniversary is a milestone event for EastEnders, and we have been planning this week for a long time to ensure that it’s a week full of drama and surprises.
“In fact, as our regular audience will know, we have already seen the return of familiar faces and have many more nods to our history to come which will all build up to our momentous anniversary week. This time, as well as going live, we are adding an extra twist and for the very first time in the history of the show and as a gift to the viewers, we are giving the audience the power to have their say in choosing the outcome of one of our storylines.
“Whilst we’re still keeping the finite details of the 40th close to our chest, I can promise that it will be an unmissable week full of shocking twists that will change Albert Square, and the lives of those who live in it, forever.”

Big Brother’s Khaled under fire after inflicting Killer Nomination power

OHMYGOSSIP — Big Brother’s Khaled has come under fire after he used his Head of House power to put Martha up for this week’s eviction.
On Monday night’s (14.10.24) extended episode, Lily, Ali and Daze were put up for eviction by their fellow housemates in Diary Room nominations, but a twist gave Khaled the opportunity to either ‘Save and Replace’ or deliver a ‘Killer Nomination’.
Khaled chose to use his “killer nomination” power and he added Martha to the trio, meaning all four are up for eviction.
During nominations, Lily received the most with six, while Ali and Daze had five each.
However, Martha, Baked Potato (Rosie), Hanah, and Marcello didn’t receive a single nomination.
Martha was left in tears upon hearing Khaled had put her up for eviction.
She told him: “I just think that’s a bit of a joke if I’m honest.”
Later in the episode, Khaled felt forensic psychologist and fellow housemate Ali was “attacking” him over his reasons for putting Martha up.
He told her: “I feel like you’re attacking me because I say my statement and then you’re going ‘yeah but there must be a direct thing’ [with Martha].
“I said everything there on the table but yet you’re looking for something … you’re looking at me as if I’m the big bad wolf.
“For some reason Ali, which I just can’t pinpoint, I think you’re trying to find something to vilify me.”
However, Ali insisted that wasn’t the case.
She hit back: “I’m not trying to vilify you, I do not dislike you, I genuinely don’t dislike you as a person so please believe me when I tell you, I am not vilifying you.
“You’re accusing me of vilifying you which you know will be perceived by everybody who hears that as I’m the bad guy.”
Elsewhere in the episode, Daze and Nathan also clashed.
Friday night (18.10.24) will see the next eviction from the ‘Big Brother’ house.

Jason Bourne 6 is in the works

OHMYGOSSIP — A sixth ‘Jason Bourne’ movie is said to be in development.
The Matt Damon-led spy franchise hasn’t been seen since the simply-titled 2016 movie ‘Jason Bourne’, though a new listing from ProductionWeekly indicates that Universal Pictures are actively working on its next instalment, which is thought to be titled ‘The Bourne Dilemma’.
As well as revealing the supposed name of the project, the listing also claims ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’ director Edward Berger has signed on to make the film and take over the franchise from Paul Greengrass.
According to a report from The Times newspaper, Greengrass – who had helmed the series since 2004’s ‘The Bourne Supremacy’ – was asked by Prince William if he would consider making another ‘Jason Bourne’ movie, though the 69-year-old filmmaker insisted he wouldn’t because the studio “need somebody younger”.
Replying to the Prince of Wales’ request for more ‘Jason Bourne’ films at a recent event hosted by BAFTA and the Royal African Society, the director said: “Not for me, they need somebody younger, I’ve done my bit.
“But I hope they get somebody great and young to do it, I think they’re in the process.”
While the moviemaker has seemingly parted ways with the franchise, Matt Damon previously said he would happily work with Edward Berger on a ‘Jason Bourne’ flick.
During an appearance on ‘The Late Show’, the ‘Oppenheimer’ star said: “‘All Quiet on the Western Front’] is a fantastic film, and he’s wonderful and he said he had an idea [for ‘Jason Bourne’].
“I would love to work with him, so he’s working on it. Look, I’m as anxious as you are to see if this thing [happens] — I hope it’s great and that we can do it.”
Even so, the 54-year-old actor admitted he can’t play the spy forever.
He said: “At a certain point somebody is going to need to take it over. I’m not getting any younger.”

John Travolta grateful to Pulp Fiction for giving him ‘a second chance’

OHMYGOSSIP — John Travolta has paid tribute to ‘Pulp Fiction’ for giving him “a second chance at a high-end career” in Hollywood.
The 70-year-old actor starred as gangster Vincent Vega in Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 picture and has thanked the film for being “a next-level, upper echelon opportunity” that revived his career after a lean period following his 1970s success in ‘Grease’ and ‘Saturday Night Fever’.
In a retrospective look back at the flick in celebration of its 30th anniversary, Travolta told Variety: “The last success [I’d had] before ‘Pulp Fiction’ was the ‘Look Who’s Talking’ films, so getting the ‘Pulp’ offer was certainly a next-level, upper echelon opportunity more along the lines of the Oscar nomination-type performance of ‘Saturday Night Fever’ and ‘Blow Out’ integrity.
“I was one of his [Tarantino’s] favorite actors growing up on ‘Welcome Back Kotter’, ‘Saturday Night Fever’, ‘Grease’ and ‘Blow Out’, and he wanted to work with me.”
Travolta added that the fact that he was one of movie critic Pauline Kael’s “favourite actors” – someone Tarantino greatly admired – helped land him a role in ‘Pulp Fiction’.
He said: “I think it helped his being a big Pauline Kael fan, and my being one of her favorite actors, so he raised the bar for me and gave me a second chance at a high-end career, one that he always wanted me to have.”
The actor emphasised he held ‘Pulp Fiction’ in “one of the most special places” because it reignited his Hollywood career and returned him to his status as a movie icon that he first earned two decades prior.
He said: “[I hold it in] one of the most special places, because it rekindled my career to a level that I always wanted it to be. It also matched an iconic status with ‘Saturday Night Fever’, which was very rare in movie history.”
Travolta – who starred opposite Samuel L. Jackson, Uma Thurman, Bruce Willis and Tim Roth – added watching the film for the first time was like seeing “history in the making”.
He recalled: “It was at the Cannes Film Festival. It exceeded my expectations because it arrived at a new level of storytelling and filmmaking and you could feel it — it was visceral. It was history in the making.”

Temple Productions partners with Indywood Distribution for Bloodline release

OHMYGOSSIP — Temple Productions have partnered with Indywood Distribution for the release of ‘Bloodline’.
The companies have announced a collaboration that will extend the movie’s reach beyond the UK and tap into key emerging markets around the globe.
‘Bloodline’ has been co-directed by twin brothers Kyle and Liam Bashford alongside Jo Jo George and Temple Productions and premiered at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year to rave reviews.
The picture stars Adrianna Edwards as Bella and Jo Jo George as Adharva and combines supernatural elements with moral conflict. It is set in the striking landscapes of southern India and explores the themes of justice, vengeance and family legacy in a thriller that will leave fans captivated.
As a result of the partnership with Indywood Distribution, ‘Bloodline’ is now set to reach wider audiences – including markets across Asia – in line with the company’s ambitions to elevate global cinema.
The movie’s co-writer and lead actor Adrianna Edwards said: “Their expertise and passion for unique stories make them the perfect partner for ‘Bloodline’.”
Shyam Kurup, Director at Indywood, added: “We’re thrilled to bring ‘Bloodline’ to new markets. The film’s blend of action and emotional depth resonates globally.”
The picture was primarily filmed in Kerala, India, and the Bashford twins were keen to make the movie as they have familial ties to the country and are sensitive about Britain’s colonial past there.
The twins said: “As filmmakers with familial ties to India, the chance to produce a movie there has been an ambition for us and working with Temple felt like a perfect fit.
“Witnessing the breathtaking fight sequences orchestrated by seasoned stunt coordinator Mafia Sasi was incredible bringing back memories of watching Bruce Lee films with our dad.”

Clare Balding set for Celebrity Traitors

OHMYGOSSIP — Clare Balding is to take part in ‘Celebrity Traitors’.
The 53-year-old presenter has reportedly signed up to compete with the likes of diver Tom Daley and comic Stephen Fry for the first celebrity version of the mystery game because she’s a fan of the show, having previously rejected multiple offers to get involve with reality TV shows.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “Clare is an absolutely brilliant signing because she’s always turned down reality offers flat.
“As such, this will offer the first real glimpse into what she’s like as a person.
“She’s known to generations of TV viewers from fronting everything from racing and the Olympics through to ‘Crufts’ and occasionally ‘Countryfile’.
“And could anyone really believe that the Beeb’s dependable, sensible face of sport could be a treacherous liar?”
Clare previously admitted she had rejected approaches for ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’.
She said: “I wouldn’t do it.
“If they were building a school in Africa or something worthy I’d do it.”
The news comes just days after it was reported Tom was in final talks to sign up for the show.
A source told The Sun: “He’s always been a top target for reality show bookers, but his team knew he had the pick of the crop.
“The first series of the celebrity edition blows ‘I’m A Celebrity’ and ‘Strictly’ out the water, really, and Tom knows it will be hugely fun to film.
“He’ll make a great player too, as no one would suspect misdeeds from such a baby-faced lad.”
It was previously revealed that Stephen was top of host Claudia’s wish list for the star-studded version and as a fan of the programme, he jumped at the chance to take part.
A source told TV Biz: “Claudia put Stephen right at the top of celebs she’d want on ‘The Traitors’ and Stephen has made it clear he’d be game.
“Stephen is a fan of the show and Claudia was desperate for him to be in it.
“No contracts have been signed yet — but he told the show’s bosses to name a time and date and he’ll be there.”
Claudia would also like to see the likes of ‘EastEnders’ legend Adam Woodyatt, Hollywood star Andrew Garfield, and ‘Only Connect’ host Victoria Coren Mitchell on the programme.

Smile 2 director thinks horror franchise can explore ‘different kinds of diverse stories’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Smile 2’ filmmaker Parker Finn thinks the horror franchise can “tell all different kinds of diverse stories”.
The 37-year-old writer and director – who also penned the original 2022 film and was at the helm of both movies – has high hopes for the series and thinks if fans react well to the upcoming sequel, there is a lot they can do in the future.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “There’s so many exciting roads that ‘Smile’ could go down.
“We’ll have to see how audiences react to ‘Smile 2’, but I think that’s what’s great about ‘Smile’ is there’s an opportunity to tell all different kinds of diverse stories and sort of place ourselves in different worlds that Smile then comes in and invades.”
For the second film, the story follows fictional pop star Skye Riley, which was an idea Finn became “obsessed” with.
He recalled: “The first month that I started thinking about a sequel, any idea that came to me I just threw out right away because I was like if it’s coming to me this quickly, it’s too obvious.
“I love the world of pop. I’m fascinated by some of these women — these personas out there, who the real person is behind that velvet robe.
“And one I sort of stumbled on this idea of this mega pop star in Skye Riley, I just got kind of electrified by it and got obsessed with it.”
In the new movie, Naomi Scott plays the pop star terrorised by an entity which appears as people’s sinister smiles.
However, Finn has pointed out that part of making the creepy grin work is to make sure it stays relatively natural.
He explained: “I find what you want to do is smile actually in a friendly way; you don’t want to overexaggerate it, you don’t want to strain your face, but it’s all about disconnecting the eyes from the smile, and then about how you position the head.
“There’s a bit of a head tilt that happens; there’s the famous ‘Kubrick Stare,’ we sort of leaned into that idea, and then it becomes all about the filmmaking tools [of framing and sound design].”

Alana Haim lands two new film roles

OHMYGOSSIP — Alana Haim has landed two new movie roles.
The 32-year-old musician – who made her acting debut in 2021’s ‘Licorice Pizza’ has already started production on ‘The Mastermind’ and from there, will begin work on ‘The Drama’, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
‘The Mastermind’ is an art heist drama directed by Kelly Reichardt, set against the backdrop of the Vietnam War and the beginning of the women’s liberation movement in America. It will also star ‘The Crown’ actor Josh O’Connor.
Meanwhile, ‘Dream Scenario’ filmmaker Kristoffer Borgli is making ‘The Drama’, which has a star-studded cast that also includes Zendaya and Robert Pattinson.
The movie – which was written by the director – will begin shooting later this month, and is centred on a couple who end up in crisis after unexpected revelations have them questioning what they know about each other, days before they are due to get married.
Alana was nominated for Golden Globe, BAFTA and Critics Choice awards following her turn in ‘Licorice Pizza’.
Earlier this year, the Haim singer reunited with the film’s director, Paul Thomas Anderson, for his next, currently-untitled project, that has finished filming and will be released next year.
The movie also stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn and Regina Hall.
Alana previously admitted her appearance in ‘Licorice Pizza’ led to her being bombarded with messages from dentists offering to “fix” her teeth.
Speaking on ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers’, she said: “Funny enough, you know who reaches out the most? Orthodontists.
“The world… everyone is concerned about my teeth. I’ve gotten over ten DMs from orthodontists asking if I need help and can they please fix my teeth? ”
However, Alana isn’t interested in their help because she is “very proud” of her “snaggletooth”.
She added: “And I love my teeth. I love my teeth. And I have a snaggletooth and I’m very proud of my snaggletooth, but the world of dentistry is not pleased.”
The ‘Don’t Wanna’ hitmaker insisted she hadn’t neglected her smile because she’d had braces for years growing up.
She said: “I had braces for four years, and this is what my teeth… I don’t know if you can zone in on my teeth, but this is what my teeth look like.”

Last year, the 50-year-old star raised over £6 million with his Ultramarathon challenge, but this time he’ll be helping from the studio.

Sir Michael Palin stopped making travel shows for BBC due to health and safety frustrations

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Michael Palin stopped making travel documentaries for the BBC as he became exasperated with the broadcaster’s obsession with health and safety.
The 81-year-old star made programmes for the channel from 1989 until 2012 but says the relationship was “exhausted” as red tape threatened to turn his travelogues into a “theme park”.
Michael said at the Cheltenham Literature Festival: “They want you to wear a helmet just to cross the road, or while riding an elephant. Unfortunately if you do that it looks as if you are in a theme park.
“There was the feeling that the BBC wanted to interfere a little more, they wanted to control it a little more.”
Michael recently explained that he was also irked by the way in which the BBC “presented” the programmes to viewers.
He said: “They had this new way of presenting shows – which I would get absolutely, desperately frustrated with – where they would show, in the first five minutes, all the great moments of what was to come. Because this captured viewers.
“Otherwise, as soon as they see Michael Palin, they’ll switch off. The BBC was going in a different direction, and presentation was going in a different direction.”
The ‘Monty Python’ star has since worked with Channel 5 for programmes in North Korea, Iraq and Nigeria but confessed last year that his body was getting “rusty”.
Palin told the ‘Headliners’ podcast: “Your body gets rusty like a piece of old machinery that’s done you quite well over the years but then a couple of screws fall off and a door falls off and that’s it.
“Fortunately, I don’t have any bits that have fallen off so far. I’m enjoying being 80, but at 80 you are old.
“When you get (to 80) you feel pleased you can still get out of a chair unaided.”

Greg James blames Channel 4 for ‘rushing out’ axed reality show Rise and Fall

OHMYGOSSIP — Greg James felt that Channel 4 bosses “rushed out” his reality TV series ‘Rise and Fall’.
The 38-year-old broadcaster hosted the show that brought 16 ordinary people together as they competed for power and a £100,000 cash prize as Rulers and Grafters but thinks that executives should have been more patient with the editing of the series as it failed to replicate the success of BBC hit ‘The Traitors’.
Greg told the ‘Where There’s A Will, There’s A Wake’ podcast: “It came along at the same time as ‘The Traitors’.
“It was made by the same people, and the idea was good.
“I think they rushed it out. I said, ‘You should have given it six months and edited this. This could have been really good.’
“But, you know, these things happen.”
Channel 4 confirmed that programme had been axed after just one series earlier this year.
A spokesperson told The Sun newspaper: “‘Rise and Fall’ was a great show that we were very proud of and attracted strong audiences, but Channel 4 is all about the new and we want to make space for the next great new reality idea…
“We would like to thank Greg and the talented team who made such a hugely fun and innovative show.”
The series earned comparisons to ‘The Traitors’ and Greg revealed that he phoned host Claudia Winkleman for her advice ahead of the series.
The BBC Radio 1 presenter said: “I gave her a call, I know Claudia fairly well. She was on my show to talk about ‘The Traitors’ not so long ago, and I said, can I have a call to chat about some secret stuff, so I did.
“I broke the non-disclosure agreement with Claudia Winkleman, but I thought she’s a Faithful, so I thought I’d be able to trust her. She was great, she gave great advice.
“She was like, ‘You know what, just immerse yourself in this world, Just get in it basically,’ and I have been. It’s been really, really fun. She just said to enjoy it because these shows are really fun to do.”

Mrs Brown’s Boys junior producer ‘walks out over racial joke’

OHMYGOSSIP — A member of the ‘Mrs Brown’s Boys’ production team reportedly walked out over Brendan O’Carroll’s “racial” joke.
The 69-year-old actor was in character as Agnes Brown on set when he improvised during a read-through of the upcoming Christmas and New Year specials and almost said the N-word before being stopped by his wife Jennifer Gibney, who plays daughter Cathy in the BBC sitcom.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Virtually everyone in the room on the day that the outburst happened were shocked, but the reading continued for some time without anyone saying or doing anything as they were so stunned.
“One member of the production team in particular was upset by what came out of his mouth and it was quickly reported to the bosses.
“There was no excuses for what he said or any kind of context or mitigation he could provide for making the slur, he just seemed to think it was amusing.”
It’s said rehearsals were temporarily paused as the BBC launched a probe into the matter, with filming set to resume this week.
It’s alleged Brendan, as Agnes, said “I don’t call a spade a spade, I call a spade a…” and started to say the N-word before being cut off.
The actor said in a statement this week: “At a read-through of the ‘Mrs Brown’s Boys’ Christmas specials, there was a clumsy attempt at a joke, where a racial term was implied.
“It backfired and caused offence, which I deeply regret and for which I have apologised.”
His spokesperson added to the Daily Mail newspaper: “We would also like to clarify that the ‘n’ word was absolutely not spoken, it was implied.
“Agnes [Mrs Brown] began the word but was stopped from finishing it by her daughter Cathy, as she knew she would be.”
The BBC wouldn’t “comment on individuals”, but reiterated a strong stance against racism.
A spokesperson said: “Whilst we don’t comment on individuals, the BBC is against all forms of racism, and we have robust processes in place should issues ever arise.”

The Traitors winner Harry Clark ‘crumbles on SAS Who Dares Wins’

OHMYGOSSIP — Harry Clark reportedly “crumbled” during interrogation scenes on ‘Celebrity SAS: Who Dare Wins’.
The 23-year-old reality star and former British Army engineer rose to fame by lying his way to victory on ‘The Traitors’, but his fibbing wasn’t enough to fool the trainers during a grilling set to air on next year’s series of the Channel 4 military show.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “This will make for delicious viewing for his fellow competitors on ‘The Traitors’, who felt hoodwinked by him all the way through the second series.
“The baby-faced assassin had them all fooled, letting his easy charm lull them into a false sense of security — and bagging himself the jackpot of £95,000.
“But despite his own military background, he just crumbled in the face of experts, who know how to spot a fibber.”
It’s said he tried to bluff his way through in a similar vein to his time on the BBC’s backstabbing game show based on bluff and treachery, but wasn’t able to reach the finish line.
Harry recently filmed the grueling show, which will air in 2025.
He previously admitted he’d love to keep exploring avenues in television after stepping back from his Army career.
He told the Metro newspaper’s 60 Seconds column: “There are a lot of shows I want to do. Hopefully, one will be the ‘I’m A Celebrity’ jungle.
“But I used to love acting in school, so who knows? I’m losing weight already.
“I’ve started the 75 Hard Challenge, where you exercise twice a day for 45 minutes, just in case I get the James Bond call.”
While ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and ‘Big Brother’ could also be options, Harry admitted ‘I’m A Celebrity’ is top of the list.
He added: “The thing that excites me is the jungle. I’m the fussiest eater in the world, mind, and scared of everything.
“I’m the world’s most non-macho man. I might have been in the Army but I hate bugs.”

Josh Brolin reveals Knives Out 3 priest role

OHMYGOSSIP — Josh Brolin is set to play a priest in ‘Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery’.
The 56-year-old actor is due to join the Daniel Craig-starring whodunnit series in the next instalment and has revealed he will be playing a man of God in the upcoming movie – a role the ‘Dune’ star wanted to tackle.
He told TotalFilm: “I’m playing a priest. My wife reminded me … She said, ‘Do you remember a year ago you said that you wanted to play a priest? It’s like you manifest this s***.’”
Reflecting on the murder-mystery movie, the ‘Avengers: Endgame’ star heaped praise onto his “new favourite director” Rian Johnson and labelled the flick as “one of the greatest experiences [he’s] ever had”.
