‘My boss seemed to be incredibly cruel’ Yvette Fielding’s bullying claim

OHMYGOSSIP — Yvette Fielding has claimed a BBC boss bullied her during her ‘Blue Peter’ days.
The ‘Most Haunted’ presenter has alleged she had a boss who was “just incredibly cruel” when she worked on the hit children’s programme in the 1980s, and claims they would “berate” her in front of others.
The 55-year-old broadcaster – who joined the show in 1987 aged 18 – told the Daily Star newspaper: “To me, the most important thing in a job was to please your boss and do the best that you can do. The problem was that I was trying to please my boss so much, but my boss seemed to be just incredibly cruel.
“I thought that I’d be doing OK and then I was told that I was useless.
“Absolutely useless, again and again and again. It was like every time I did what I thought was right, she’d come back and say something awful or she’d just berate me in front of other people.”
Yvette claims it led to her being a “shaking, gibbering wreck” while hosting live broadcasts.
She said: “You’ve got to be confident in front of eight million people twice a week and my confidence was just at an all-time low. I was a shaking, gibbering wreck.”
Yvette – who has made a name for herself as a TV ghost hunter alongside her second husband Karl Beattie, 60 – also told how she came across the ghost of an RAF worker on the set of ITV1 soap ‘Coronation Street’ back in 2005.
She said: “There was a lot of tapping and knocking – the tapping phenomenon that we get. We knew that there was definite activity and that spirits were there. There was a woman there, and she has been seen in an RAF uniform. I think it was her that was coming through.
“She has been seen there a lot this RAF woman.
“I remember Elsie Tanner; her picture was in a hallway or something, and weirdly enough it started to rattle. There was some tapping coming through, and it was just bizarre.”

Movie-lovers put more research into film choices than dating

OHMYGOSSIP — Brits take movie research more seriously planning for a date or a job interview.
A new study has found 78% of Brits spend up to an hour pouring over reviews before settling on their film watching decision, and 74% will study trailers for the same duration, but only 35% spend the same amount of time prepping for their date and 36% will use 60 minutes to prep for a job interview.
And that’s not all, because although a holiday is the highlight of the year for many people, just 39% of those surveyed would spend up to an hour choosing their break.
The Sky Cinema study – which was commissioned to mark the launch of their new offering, two free Vue cinema tickets every month for Sky Cinema customers – found that typical movie night research also involves reading the storyline for 66% of those surveyed, knowing who the cast is (33%) and, for 11%, it’s essential to know just how long a movie lasts before they start watching.
25-34 year olds spend the most time putting in their research and are more likely to row with a partner over the final choice, while over 65s dive straight in.
Sophia Ahmad, Chief Consumer Officer, Sky UK ROI said: “We know how much our customers love those goosebump moments when watching a film they’ve been waiting for – and we know choosing one can involve serious research. This new exclusive partnership with Vue will give Sky Cinema customers the chance to watch a movie on the big screen at no extra cost, all while still being able to enjoy an unrivalled line-up of blockbusters and Sky Originals on their sofas at home”.
Toby Bradon, UK and Ireland General Manager, Vue Entertainment added : “The joy of the Big Screen Experience doesn’t just start when you enter the venue , as this research show, its starts with the anticipation of finding out about a great story.
“We are pleased to be partnering with Sky to welcome its customers to immerse themselves in the big screen. To help find out what to watch at Vue we are delighted to be offering additional features as we roll out our new look website and apps, making that pre-film research quicker and easier with all the latest trailers, and the ability to set reminders for when that film you can’t wait to see is just around the corner.”

Popstar ‘revival’ on the cards to find new One Direction

OHMYGOSSIP — A ‘Popstar’ revival is reportedly being planned to find the next big boyband.
An unnamed new talent show inspired by the beloved ITV programme – which launched 21 years ago and brought together acts like Girls Aloud and Hear’Say – is in the pipeline on the hunt for a huge group like One Direction.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “First ITV brought back ‘Big Brother’, then the BBC brought back ‘Survivor’. Now this might form the holy trinity of big shows from two decades ago.
“There’s been a boom in popularity for programmes from that time among Millennials. But what they want is to go back to the origins of these shows.
“‘X Factor’ may be the best known and most recent talent contest, but it was ‘Popstars’ that kicked it all off.”
The series first launched in 2001 as a documentary delving into auditions for a new group, with the likes of Myleene Klass and Kym Marsh going onto form ‘Pure and Simple’ hitmakers Hear’Say.
The following year Davina McCall fronted ‘Popstars: The Rivals’, a more traditional talent show which created Girls Aloud.
The proposed new show – which is yet to have a name or TV channel – is set to go back to a “documentary” format looking at a boyband coming to life.
New production company Moon and Back – run by ITV’s former head of lights entertainment and ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ executive producer Nigel Hall – is leading the charge.
Hall also worked on the likes of ‘I’m A Celebrity’ and played a key role in ‘Ant and Dec’s Saturday NIght Takeaway’.
He is said to be joined in the new venture by Ant and Dec’s former manager Russ Lindsay and ITV’s former director of global content Dawn Airey.
Scouts are already on the hunt for people aged 18 to 23 to be part of the cast, with the team “looking for the next generation of superstars to form a brand new five-piece boy band”.
While the casting call warns about “substantial travel” and being “outside of the UK from January to July 2024”, it adds: “If you can dance, sing and have a big personality to match, we want to hear from you.”

I’m torn over streaming, says Richard Linklater

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Linklater feels “torn” over the rise of streaming platforms.
The 63-year-old filmmaker has confessed to having mixed feelings about the relatively recent rise of platforms like Netflix and Spotify, which have helped to make content more accessible than ever before.
Speaking to Interview magazine, he explained: “It’s so weird. I feel so torn.
“On one hand, this was a dream when you’re sitting there in the eighties trying to find a movie.”
On the other hand, Richard appreciates that fans are able to access what they want, when they want it.
The director – whose film credits include ‘School of Rock’ and ‘Boyhood’ – said: “If there’s one thing different now, it’s just obviously the availability is everywhere.
“But if someone had told you, you wouldn’t be spending your time in a record store the way you used to, or a bookstore. And I think technology goes toward people’s wants like, ‘Hey, that song you just heard, just push a button and you can listen to the song 12 seconds later instead of going and looking for it in a used record store.'”
Meanwhile, Cate Blanchett previously admitted that she missed the cinema experience amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Hollywood star remains fond of the cinema experience, despite the rise of streaming platforms.
She told the BBC: “Personally, I miss sitting in the dark with strangers and I miss that about going to live music, to going to the theatre and to going to the cinema.
“Maybe I’m wildly optimistic, but I still hope that when things get a little more stable, I think people will crave to see things large and big in a cinema, so what looks like a disastrous situation for cinema could actually be a positive.”

Horror icon John Carpenter has no idea ‘how you can screw up’ Exorcist reboot

OHMYGOSSIP — John Carpenter has no idea “how you can screw up” an ‘Exorcist’ reboot.
The horror icon – who worked with filmmaker David Gordon Green on the recent ‘Halloween’ reboot trilogy – has responded after the director’s movie ‘The Exorcist: Believer’ has been panned by critics.
Speaking to the Los Angeles Times newspaper, he said: “I like what David did when he made the three ‘Halloweens’.
“I loved No. 2 [‘Halloween Kills’]. Thought that was fabulous. I heard ‘The Exorcist’ really didn’t cut it.
“That could be a kick-a** movie. I don’t understand how you can screw that up.”
Carpenter – whose horror movie output includes the likes of ‘The Thing’, ‘The Fog’ and ‘Assault on Precinct 13’ – admitted while he doesn’t really go to the cinema much, he does try to keep up and he’ll be checking out ‘The Exorcist: Believer’ when he gets the chance.
He added: “I don’t go out. I haven’t been to a movie in a while, but I see them at my house. I’ll see it there.”
He recently watched Greta Gerwig’s ‘Barbie’ blockbuster and while he insisted he wasn’t the target audience for the movie, he heaped praise on Margot Robbie for her performance.
He said: “I watched ‘Barbie’. I can’t believe I watched ‘Barbie’. It’s just not my generation.
“I had nothing to do with Barbie dolls. I didn’t know who Allan was. I mean, I can sum it up.
“She says, ‘I don’t have a vagina’, and then at the end, ‘I’m going to go to a gynecologist!’ That’s the movie to me.
“I mean, there’s a patriarchy business in there, but I missed that whole thing. Right over my head. But I think she’s fabulous, Margot Robbie.”
The new ‘Exorcist’ flick is a direct sequel to William Friedkin’s original 1973 picture ‘The Exorcist’, considered to be one of the greatest horror movies ever made, and director Green recently admitted he wanted to do the series justice with his new adaptations.
The ‘Halloween Ends’ director told Collider: “I’m always my own worst critic, and putting pressure on myself that may or may not be the healthiest.
“But to me, it’s trying to bring an integrity to a franchise that means a lot to me as a movie geek. So, just get the right team together, work your a** off, and make a movie.”

Chloe Madeley hit rock bottom during nightmare stint on Dancing On Ice

OHMYGOSSIP — Chloe Madeley hit rock bottom during her nightmare stint on ‘Dancing On Ice’.
The 36-year-old daughter of TV presenters Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan was among the contestants on the ITV show back in 2011 when she was 24, and she’s revealed the brutal online trolling she received took a serious toll on her mental health and drove her to drink heavily.
According to DailyMail.com, she said: “It felt like people hated me, just for being my parents’ daughter, and got to a point where I was so desperately unhappy I couldn’t function any more.
“‘I couldn’t sleep, I was up all night, either vomiting or drinking, which obviously made everything worse.”
Chloe revealed her dad Richard eventually intervened after finding her in a dreadful state and he got her the help she needed. She went on: “My dad found me on the kitchen floor one morning, at my worst, and said, “Look, you need help. I’m not a doctor. We don’t know how to help you. But there are people who are qualified and paid to help you. ‘So let’s find them and get you some support.” It got to the point where I was desperately unhappy. I’m so grateful to him.”
Chloe was diagnosed with generalised anxiety disorder (GAD) and Richard made sure she had therapy to deal with her issues. She added: “He got me into therapy – cognitive behavioural and talking therapy – which pulled me back into reality. It helped so much, I still have therapy now.”
She added that as well as therapy, she turned to working out to ease her mental health struggles and she credits weight-training with helping her deal with her anxiety in a healthy way.
Chloe recently revealed she deals with trolling in a new way now. She told The Sun: “I think we all deal with it differently, sometimes I respond. “I’m not a big believer that you should take the high ground and stay quiet. “I think it’s important to set an example to other people who are reading my stuff or watching my stuff, that it’s okay to stick up for yourself and it doesn’t make you a weak person, sometimes it makes you a strong, capable and self-aware person. “I don’t have any issues sticking up for myself sometimes, a lot of the time I ignore it.”

Fleur East loves being ‘in the thick’ of Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Fleur East loves being “in the thick” of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 33-year-old singer competed in last year’s edition of the BBC Latin and ballroom show and after landing a job as host of the spin-off series ‘Strictly: It Takes Two’ along with Janette Manrara has declared that her “journey” with the series isn’t over yet.
She told Hello magazine: “I imagined that when ‘Strictly’ came back around, I’d be watching all the new celebs from home, reminiscing, but now I’m in the thick of it again.
“It feels like I’m doing it all over again, but it just from a lot more of a relaxed perspective because I don’t have to stress about doing a dance every weekend.
“It’s lovely to be still part of it. My ‘Strictly’ journey hasn’t ended.”
Fleur admitted it was lovely to actually stay in touch with her former professional partner Vito Coppola, 31, as she joked that she can’t “get rid” of him.
She said: “We became like brother and sister on the show at the end. Vito was like, ‘Partner, you’re not going to be able to get rid of me!’ AndI was like, ‘People always say things like that.’ But I honestly could not get rid of Vito.
“It’s nice to able to have our friendship outside of the ‘Strictly’ bubble, but also to get to see each other and cheer each other on within it.”
The former ‘X Factor’ star spilled she was warned by fellow ‘Strictly’ alumni Gemma Atkinson, 38 – who is in a relationship with her professional dancer Gorka Marquez, 33, and has two kids Mia, four, and Thiago, three monthsmwith him – that she would struggle to watch Vito be partnered with someone and compared it to “cheating”.
Fleur said: “It was like, ‘Excuse me, what’s happening here? I’m the one who’s supposed to be on the dancefloor with you.”
“Gemma Atkinson said to me, ‘You’re gonna feel like Vito is dance-cheating on you.’ and it is a little bit like that.
“But to be completely honest, doing ‘It Takes Two’ has really helped me adjust to that because now I’m wearing this new hat.
“I think if I was sitting at home watching it every week, it would be very different.”
Fleur confessed that Vito and his new partner ‘Coronation Street star Ellie Leach, 22, “absolutely smashed it” on their first show and how ‘Big Brother’ host AJ Odudu, 35, had given her tips on how to cope last year.
She said: “She absolutely smashed it – I think everybody is so good this year. It’s been nice to be able to check in with all of the contestants every week and say to them, ‘I’ve been there – what are you doing this week? How are you feet feeling?’”.
“Before I started last year, my good friend AJ Odudu gave me a lot of advice, but it would’ve been invaluable to feel like I had someone throughout the journey that had experienced it, to be me exactly what to expect.”

Olly Murs lands new TV gig just weeks after being ‘shock exit’ from The Voice

OHMYGOSSIP — Olly Murs is to serve as a judge on ‘The Masked Singer’.
The 39-year-old pop star was axed from his long-running role on ‘The Voice’ earlier this year but will now reportedly join regular panellists Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross and Mo Gilligan on the next series of the ITV1 singing competition – which sees celebrities don extravagant masks in an attempt to conceal their identity whilst performing classic tracks – as cover for Rita Ora.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “The booking will be heartening to Olly. His exit from ‘The Voice’ came as a shock, so knowing ITV still rate him and want him on the channel will be such a boost. It’s a sign they see him as part of the family and will be considered for future projects. Of course, Olly’s a pro when it comes to music, as well as having tons of experience as a TV judge. Plus, he is loved by audiences already. It all makes perfect sense.”
In September, the ‘Troublemaker’ singer explained he was “gutted” and “shocked” to have been axed from ‘The Voice’, after spending five years as a judge on the talent show.
He said: “I got the call to say I won’t be back on the show, and it’s a bit of a shock, to be honest. I didn’t expect that. They’ll find someone great, I’m sure.
But am I going to miss it? Yeah.
“Did I want to leave? No. Will I still watch the show? Of course, but it’ll be sore thinking that could have been me.”
‘Anywhere’ hitmaker Rita, 32, is unable to film every episode of ‘The Masked Singer’ because of other work commitments and the news that former ‘X Factor’ star Olly will be filling in for her comes just days after it was revealed that ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ actress Jennifer Saunders will also be sitting in on occasion.

I’m A Celeb’s Jordan North pleads with Big Brother viewers to ‘be kind’ on social media

OHMYGOSSIP — Jordan North has urged viewers of ‘Big Brother’ to “be kind” to the contestants on social media.
The 33-year-old presenter admitted that he is “looking forward” to seeing how the reboot of the 2000s reality show pans out but reminded fans that during its heyday, there was no social media and is hoping that people will be “kind” to those starring on the series now.
He told Metro.co.uk: “I don’t think it’ll be censored. I just hope when it comes out – because when it was popular there wasn’t social media as there is today – I just hope that people are kind on social media. Don’t forget, if you don’t like someone that’s fair enough but these people have got feelings at the end of the day, so you just hope they don’t get it too bad on social media. But I’m looking forward to seeing it, it should be good!”
His comments come just hours after presenters AJ Odudo and Will Best themselves urged viewers to remember that the housemates are “real people” and pleaded with them to think about what they write about them online.
Speaking in a video posted to Instagram, AJ said: “Please do remember that all of our housemates are real people with their real lives. If you wouldn’t say anything to them in person, please watch out what you say to them online. Let’s make this the most positive series yet and give all of the housemates the respect that you would wish for if you were a housemate too. Is that a deal?”
Will added: “We all just want to be fair and kind to everybody, and that way we can all enjoy this series together and we can support our housemates on the show and beyond

‘He just wanted to act’: Adam Deacon hails Ed Sheeran’s approach to Sumotherhood

OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran wanted to prove himself as an actor in ‘Sumotherhood’.
The ‘Bad Habits’ hitmaker features as a drug addict in Adam Deacon’s new film and the star revealed that Ed was desperate to make the most of his big screen opportunity.
Adam told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “I put him in the original script but it was a much smaller part. I just wasn’t sure how I was going to make it happen.
“I ended up having a FaceTime with him and he was quite clear that he didn’t want to play himself, he just wanted to act.
“We went round to his house and we rehearsed in his pub. He realised we’re not trying to take ourselves too seriously. There was a lot of dialogue and he learned it word for word.
“I felt like he trusted me, which I really respect.”
Ed, 32, sings his 2014 hit ‘Thinking Out Loud’ during the movie and Adam was so impressed by the music mega star’s improvisational ability that he thinks Sheeran could star in more movies.
The 40-year-old actor and director recalled: “On set he was a bit nervous but as the takes went by he just came out of his shell and was a lot more confident.
“He even improvised and started singing the ‘Thinking Out Loud’ remix which I decided to keep in the film.
“I think he should act more, I think he’s got that talent.”
However, Ed’s fame came at a cost one day as Adam had to wrap filming prematurely when school kids found out where they were shooting.
He said: “We were filming in a street in East London and it was really quiet, a bit too quiet.
“All of a sudden about 400 school kids came out of nowhere and literally bombarded the set.
“Ed couldn’t say goodbye to anyone and he had no choice but to get in a cab and rush off.”

‘It’s just an awesome film’: Scott Derrickson backs Barbie to win Oscar for Best Picture

OHMYGOSSIP — Scott Derrickson is backing ‘Barbie’ to win the Oscar for Best Picture.
The ‘Doctor Strange’ director says the hit movie starring Margot Robbie as the iconic doll is one of his favourite films of 2023 and thinks its quality should be recognised at the Academy Awards next year.
Speaking on The Discourse podcast, Scott said: “I think ‘Barbie’ is the best film I’ve seen this year – well, maybe that’s not true; I saw this horror film, ‘When Evil Lurks’ at Fantastic Fest, but ‘Barbie’ and ‘When Evil Lurks’ are my two favourite films of the year, which couldn’t be further away from each other.”
The 57-year-old filmmaker continued: “‘Barbie’ is a good example of populist I.P. that was treated with true brilliance. That’s an extraordinary movie on every level.
“I think it should probably win Best Picture; the writing is so clever and so smart and subversive, the acting is amazing, and it’s so entertaining, it’s artful in its visuals, the style of it, it’s just an awesome film.”
Meanwhile, Derrickson explained his decision to walk away from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) sequel ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ and insists it was purely due to creative differences.
He said: “All I can say is that what we said publicly is exactly the truth.
“We had real creative differences. You know, the movie I wanted to make and how I wanted to make it was different than – it was just increasingly obvious that we were pulling against each other. And that’s how you make a really bad movie, I think.
“When the producer or the studio and the filmmaker are making different movies, you end up with a monstrosity and, you know, that’s why I had to bounce.”
The movie ended up being directed by Sam Raimi and Derrickson insists that he remains on good terms with Marvel boss Kevin Feige despite his exit from the flick.

Layton Williams got scolded for skimpy rehearsal outfits on Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Layton Williams keeps getting scolded for skimpy rehearsal outfits on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The former ‘Bad Education’ star admitted that production keeps complaining to him about his “comfortable” attire while he practises for the dancefloor on the BBC One Latin and ballroom competition with his partner Nikita Kuzmin, 25, after his recent Viennese waltz performance in drag as ‘Grease’ character Betty Rizzo.
The 29-year-old actor told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I keep getting told by the camera crew to wear more clothes.
“In the training room, they’re like: ‘We’re seeing a lot of things.’ But this is how I feel comfortable. I’ve got my jock strap on, it’s the BBC. But everything is nice and tight and together.”
Layton – who made his West End debut as a child in the title role of ‘Billy Elliot: The Musical’ – recently confessed he was “having the best time” competing alongside many famous faces like broadcaster Angela Rippon, 78, ‘Channel 4 News’ anchor Krishnan Guru-Murthy, 53, and former ‘Love Island’ star Zara McDermott, 26.
He continued to OK! magazine: “I’m actually enjoying it. Like genuinely just having fun. It’s just a vibe isn’t it? So [I’m] enjoying it, thinking about the bigger picture, and just keeping it moving.”
When he was asked about the criticism about his previous dance training, Layton responded that he was concentrating on the “young queens” as opposed to the bad vibes.
Nikita has defended the ex ‘Everybody’s Talking About Jamie’ stage star as he pointed out that his ‘Strictly’ routines were “completely different” to anything he had done previously.
He said to the Daily Mirror: “Ballroom and Latin are completely different to anything Layton has done so far, the technique, posture and especially to coordination is completely different; he has a lot to learn and I can’t wait to teach him.”
Layton added: “He is going to whip me into shape, and keep me on the straight and narrow because I do like to think I know what I am doing and do the most, but I really don’t have a clue!”

Romesh Ranganathan opens up on his teenage mental health battle: ‘I considered taking my own life.’

OHMYGOSSIP — Romesh Ranganathan considered taking his own life when he was a teenager.
The 45-year-old comedian explained that because he ended up at such a low point when his dad was sent to prison for two years in in the early 1990s after being convicted for fraud, and ahead of World Mental Health Day (10.10.23), he has teamed up with suicide prevention charity, Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) to be their new patron and shine a light on how beneficial it can be to open up about mental health issues.
He said: “Back when I was a teenager, my dad was sent to prison, and it led to me considering taking my own life. It’s a moment that sits alongside the other low points I’ve had that have really hammered home just how vital help is when you’re struggling.
“I’m becoming CALM Patron because I know talking about suicide really does make a difference and that anyone can hit rock bottom. It’s vital we all understand that those feelings won’t last forever, so I’ll be helping to make sure more people know about CALM’s life-saving services and raising as much money as I can to support as many people as possible.”
Bosses at the charity are thrilled to have ‘The Weakest Link’ host on board and the TV star has even made a short film to raise awareness.
Simon Gunning, CEO of the Campaign Against Living Miserably, said: “Romesh has been an incredible supporter of CALM for many years, helping to smash the silence around suicide by normalising chatting about mental health and encouraging people to find support when they need it most. Against a pretty bleak backdrop in which rates of suicide continue to rise, and 125 lives are lost each week, we are excited for Romesh to be named CALM Patron and help us in the fight against suicide in the UK.”

Coronation Street legend marries long-time love with help from Eammon Holmes

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Coronation Street’ star Charlie Lawson has married his long-time love Debbie Stanley.
The 64-year-old actor – who played Jim McDonald on the ITV1 soap on and off between 1989 and 2018 – tied the knot with his 59-year-old fiancee in a romantic ceremony at Shrigley Hall Hotel and Spa officiated by broadcaster Eamonn Holmes, 63, with his on-screen son Simon Gregson serving as best man and a guest list that featured fellow stars like ‘Corrie’ actresses Kym Marsh and Alison King as well as Slade frontman Noddy Holder and many more.
Charlie – who has been in a relationship with Debbie for more than 20 years – told OK! magazine: “We actually legally got married at Macclesfield Registration Office two weeks before the proper wedding, with just three witnesses, so Eamonn could do the service.
Charlie – who has been married twice before and has daughter Laura from his first jaunt up the aisle – gushed about his “really good” pal Eammon and their times together.
He said: “Eamonn and myself have both been in TV a long time and we’ve met over the years and become really good friends – we’re very similar human beings. Famously, over the years, Eamonn has participated in lots of ceremonies – including George Best’s funeral – and I couldn’t think of anyone else better to oversee our wedding.”
The former ‘This Morning’ host joked about how fun he found the honour and quipped about finding a new career.
Eammon said: I should maybe become some sort of preacher.”
Charlie also praised his impromptu best man, Simon, who has played his on-screen son Steve McDonald for more than 30 years.
He said: My great friend Neil Morrissey couldn’t make the wedding as he’s starring in a West End show, so Simon stepped in to fill the best man position – and I wasn’t remotely disappointed.”
I’ve known Simon since he was 14, he’s a great friend and did a fantastic job.”
Simon – who played Steve McDonald – even got Debbie laughing.
She said: “Simon’s speech was unbelievable. He spends a lot of time at home with us so he knows us really well. He joked about some of the things he was going to say, and I told him, ‘No, please don’t say things like that.’ But he’s a comedian, so it was really funny.”

Bobby Brazier planning emotional tribute to Jade Goody on Strictly: ‘I might cry!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Bobby Brazier is planning an “emotional tribute” to his late mother Jade Goody on ‘Strictly Come Dancing.’
The 20-year-old actor was just six years old when the ‘Big Brother’ star died aged 27 in 2009 following a battle with cervical cancer but has found the “perfect” way to pay tribute to her as he competes in the BBC Latin and ballroom show along with professional partner Diane Buswell if they are able to do so.
He told the Daily Mirror at the Pride of Britain Awards: “It’s going to be an emotional one, I feel like I might cry. So much stuff has happened in the ‘Strictly’ training room, it’s all going to come up and I’m going to cry.”
He added: “Our couples choice, there is a song that is so perfect, I would love to do it. If it happens, it happens, but I would love to do that.”
The ‘EastEnders’ star called his time on the show – which is hosted by Claudia Winkleman, 51, and Tess Daly, 54, and judged by Shirley Ballas, 63, Craig Revel-Horwood, 58, Motsi Mabuse, 42, and Anton Du Beke, 57 – “gruelling” but insisted that it is also an “immense joy” to be taking part.
He said: “It’s been gruelling. In a sentence, it’s a source of immense joy and deep distress, in the space of an hour, every hour.”
The National Television Award winner quipped that his television personality dad Jeff Brazier, 44, was “so proud” of him and all his achievements but, despite getting teary at his recent win was thinking about “upping his rent” at the family homestead where he lives with his 19-year-old brother Freddie.
Bobby added: “I’m 20, maybe it’s time for him to start charging me more.”
He revealed the “kind” foodie way that his old man was supporting him as he hones his twinkles toes to see off competition from showbiz mainstays like broadcast Angela Rippon, 78, reality star Zara McDermott, 26, Layton Williams, 29, and many others.
Bobby said: “He’s been cooking us big lunches which is really kind of him, I do really appreciate those.”
