Paul O’Grady’s For the Love of Dogs to return with new presenter

OHMYGOSSIP — The late Paul O’Grady’s beloved show ‘For the Love of Dogs’ is to return with a new presenter.
Ricky Gervais, Amanda Holden and Martin Clunes are said to be in the running to replace animal-obsessed Paul – who died aged 67 in March – on the popular ITV show.
He warmed the hearts of the nation with his regular check-ins on the dogs receiving care at the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home shelter in South London.
A source told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “It’s a heart-warming series which raised the profile of the charity and ITV plans to continue making it in Paul’s memory.”
It was previously reported that Paul’s friend Amanda was being considered for the role on the show that ran for 11 series fronted by Paul.
Last week, a new veterinary hospital at Battersea was named after the late comedian.
His widower, Andre Portasio, said: “Seeing how loved Paul was by so many has been truly touching.
“Paul was so passionate in his support of rescue animals, and it gives me some comfort to know that through the hard work and commitment of Battersea and other charities Paul’s legacy will live on.
“I know that Paul would have been pleased to know that the most disadvantaged animals he was so fond of championing are getting the love and support they deserve.”
The chief executive of Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, Peter Laurie, added: “It really is a testament to how loved Paul was, and we shall always be forever grateful for everything he did for us.
“As an ambassador for Battersea, especially during his 11 years filming For The Love Of Dogs, Paul helped animals in their recuperation from surgery, and at times, watched as they headed off site for specialist surgery; naming our veterinary hospital after Paul, therefore, feels fitting.
“Paul was always a champion of the underdog, and we’ll be carrying on his legacy.”
Following his passing, a fundraiser in his memory has raised £480,000 with five animal charities set to receive £20,000.

Martin Scorsese hopes new technology can ‘evolve cinema into a new form’

OHMYGOSSIP — Martin Scorsese hopes the younger generation is able to use “new technology” to “evolve” cinema into a “new form”.
The legendary filmmaker hopes that the likes of AI can have a positive impact on cinema, but he says it’s up to the “younger people” to ensure it is used effectively.
Speaking on Sky News’ ‘Backstage’ podcast, he said: “Well my hopes are such that with the new technology and the new generations and younger people seeing the world in a different way, that cinema will evolve itself into a new form. And that’s up to the younger people.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ director recently called for Christopher Nolan and other directors to “save cinema” from a comic book and franchise culture.
The 80-year-old Hollywood icon – who has made the likes of ‘Taxi Driver’, ‘Raging Bull’, ‘Goodfellas’, and ‘The Departed’ – has previously claimed Marvel movies “aren’t cinema”, and he has now claimed superhero movies are a “danger” to our “culture”.
In a profile with GQ magazine, he said: “The danger there is what it’s doing to our culture.
“Because there are going to be generations now that think movies are only those – that’s what movies are.
“They [audiences] already think that. Which means that we have to then fight back stronger.
“And it’s got to come from the grassroots level.
“It’s gotta come from the filmmakers themselves. And you’ll have, you know, the Safdie brothers, and you’ll have Chris Nolan, you know what I mean? And hit ’em from all sides. Hit ’em from all sides, and don’t give up.
“Let’s see what you got. Go out there and do it. Go reinvent. Don’t complain about it. But it’s true, because we’ve got to save cinema.”
Scorsese insisted “manufactured content isn’t really cinema” and compared such movies to what an Artificial intelligence (AI)-made film might look like.
When it is suggested cinema could be “anything”, he replied: “I do think that the manufactured content isn’t really cinema.
“I don’t want to say it. But what I mean is that, it’s manufactured content.
“It’s almost like AI making a film. And that doesn’t mean that you don’t have incredible directors and special effects people doing beautiful artwork.
“But what does it mean? What do these films, what will it give you? Aside from a kind of consummation of something and then eliminating it from your mind, your whole body, you know? So what is it giving you?”

Former Gogglebox star pulls out of Dancing On Ice due to injury

OHMYGOSSIP — Former ‘Gogglebox’ favourite Stephen Lustig-Webb has been forced to pull out of ‘Dancing On Ice’ after he broke his ankle.
The 50-year-old reality star had an operation to fit metal plates into his ankle after a nasty fall whilst training for the ITV figure skating show in the hope it would be fixed, however, he will no longer be competing in next year’s show.
A spokesperson for ‘Dancing On Ice’ told the MailOnline: “Stephen Lustig-Webb has had to withdraw from the show due to an injury he sustained to his ankle during training. He is still very much a part of the Dancing On Ice family, we will be helping to support Stephen and we wish him well with his recovery.”
Stephen and his partner Daniel Lustig recently confirmed their exit from ‘Gogglebox’ explaining they had decided to bow out so they could pursue other opportunities.
In a joint statement posted on Instagram, the couple explained: “We feel like the time is right to move on and explore new opportunities. We would both like to thank Channel 4 and Studio Lambert for letting us be part of this amazing, funny, and heart-warming show.
“We are also extremely thankful to the cast and crew, our ‘Gogglebox’ family as we call them and of course, the fans, thank you for all your love and support over the years.”
Stephen having to depart the show before it starts comes after professional skater Matt Evers quit after 15 years.
In a statement issued to The Sun, he said: “I have some news to share. I knew this day would come at some point, but I won’t be returning to Dancing on Ice this series. After 15 series of the show, it was sadly time to hang up the skates for now. I have loved every minute of it (honestly!)
“I’ve had some incredible partners over the years, and we have created some fantastic TV moments! I mean who can forget that fall from Gemma, or the wardrobe malfunction from Pamela!”
He continued: “And I was honoured to make history with H as the first ever UK same-sex televised partnership. To all my leading ladies (and H) it was a pleasure! Bonnie Langford, Lara Bingle/Worthington (Australian Dancing on Ice), Lisa Scott Lee, Suzanne Shaw, Zoe Salmon, Heather Mills, Denise Welch, Jorgie Porter, Pamela Anderson, Candice Brown, Gemma Collins, Ian ‘H’ Watkins, Denise Van Outen, Faye Brooks, Sally Dynevor and Patsy Palmer.”

Crossroads director confirms sequel talks, but Britney Spears isn’t keen to return to acting

OHMYGOSSIP — A ‘Crossroads’ sequel is being discussed – though Britney Spears is not said to be keen to “act” in it.
The pop idol, 41, starred in the 2002 teen comedy-drama road film as Lucy Wagner with her sister Jamie Lynn Spears, 32, playing a younger version of her character, and director Tamra Davis has revealed the flick’s producer Van Toffler has been in touch with Britney and screenwriter Shonda Rhimes about making a follow-up, and the latter even has an idea for it.
Tamra told Entertainment Weekly: “I’m currently working with Van Toffler, who was the producer on it, and he’s [mentioned it].
“I think he’s been talking to Britney about it, with her management. Britney, I don’t think she really wants to act so much, but I know Ann [Carli] spoke to Shonda [Rhimes] about something, and Shonda had an idea, so who knows if that will have life.”
Praising Shonda, she added: “You could see on her first feature film what an incredible voice she had and her understanding of female characters.
“We were all girls behind the camera telling this story about girls in front of the camera. It was such an important voice at that time.”
The talk of a sequel comes as Britney’s memoir, ‘The Woman In Me’, is hitting the headlines before its release on Tuesday (24.10.23).
In an extract of the tell-all tome, obtained by People, Britney confessed to struggling with method acting for the role and never wanting to experience it again.
She wrote: “I imagine there are people in the acting field who have dealt with something like that, where they had trouble separating themselves from a character.
“I hope I never get close to that occupational hazard again. Living that way, being half yourself and half a fictional character, is messed up. After a while you don’t know what’s real anymore.”

James Bond producer Barbra Broccoli insists there is a ‘big, big road ahead’ before they recast the iconic role

OHMYGOSSIP — James Bond being recast is a long way off yet.
Barbra Broccoli, who runs the money-spinning 007 franchise with her half-brother Michael G. Wilson, has admitted there is a “big, big road ahead reinventing” the iconic role of the suave spy after Daniel Craig’s Bond died in his final outing, 2021’s ‘No Time To Die’.
Speaking to The Guardian, she said: “I go back to [1995’s] ‘GoldenEye’ when everyone was saying ‘the cold war is over, the wall is over.
“Bond is dead, no need for Bond, the whole world’s at peace, and now there’s no villains’ – and boy, was that wrong!”
This is despite many actors having been tipped to portray the MI6 secret agent, including Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Rege-Jean Page and Cillian Murphy, to name a few.
Broccoli added: “Daniel gave us the ability to mine the emotional life of the character … and also the world was ready for it. I think these movies reflect the time they are in, and there’s a big, big road ahead reinventing it for the next chapter and we haven’t even begun with that.”
The producer was speaking to promote the new Prime Video reality series ‘007: Road to a Million’, which sees nine pairs of normal people take on a series of Bond-style challenges.
‘Oppenheimer’ director Christopher Nolan, 53, recently sparked speculation some of his favourite actors could be the next 007 after he told the ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast it would be an “amazing privilege” to direct a James Bond film – but only if he could choose the star who is playing Bond.
Some of the filmmaker’s favourite stars – including ‘Oppenheimer’ lead man Cillian, 47, and ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ star Tom, 46, have been named as bookies’ top picks to step into the 007 part – along with the latest Batman star Robert Pattinson, 37, who featured in Nolan’s mind-bending time travel film ‘Tenet’.
The director was approached to make the next 007 film following the release of ‘Skyfall’, but the follow-up ‘Spectre’ ended up being directed by 58-year-old ‘American Beauty’ filmmaker Sam Mendes.
Two years after the 2015 film, Nolan revealed he could “maybe one day” get involved in the franchise.

Steph McGovern had a stalker when she worked for the BBC

OHMYGOSSIP — Steph McGovern has revealed she had a stalker when she worked at the BBC.
The former ‘Watchdog’ and ‘BBC Breakfast’ star has revealed the male was convinced he was in a relationship with her, despite her having no idea who he was, and he would follow her everywhere and even write to her family.
However, as soon as the broadcaster’s security team intervened, the man left her alone.
Sharing the scary ordeal, she told the Express: “I had a stalker when I was at the BBC. It was just some guy turning up everywhere I went.
“He ended up writing to my family, saying he was in a relationship with me. It was really crazy, but BBC security dealt with it. I think they told him to go away, there were no charges. Once he was told to stop, he did.”
Steph had no idea how the man got her family’s address but admits that it “comes with the job” when you are in the public eye.
She added: “It was frightening when it went to my parents, as I did not know how he found out where they lived. Sadly, I think it comes with the job, as that is part of the success of being on TV.”
Steph sharing her stalker experience comes after her daytime show ‘Steph’s Packed Lunch’ was axed by Channel 4.
The programme is being taken off the air this December by Channel 4 after three years, so the broadcaster can “invest” in other regional shows outside of London.
In a statement, it explained: “With audience habits changing quicker than ever, we have to make difficult decisions about which programmes to invest in to best drive our digital-first strategy.
“We remain as committed as ever to our mission to help level up the TV industry outside London and to our 50 per cent origination out-of-London target.”
Channel 4 added: “We will continue to build on the legacy of the show. Evolving what we do in line with our digital ambitions whilst continuing to reflect the lives of, and give a voice to, all our audiences across the UK and hope to work with Steph on other projects soon.”
The show airs weekdays at 12pm, and it’s not known what programme will replace the slot.

When asked by ‘Strictly’ co-host Tess Daly about his time on the show, Eddie said: “I’ve really enjoyed this, it’s something I’ve always wanted to do – I love dancing.
“This has been the highest moment of my career – it’s the happiest I’ve ever been, but not just for me – my family – my little baby girl is at home doing the ‘Men in Black’ dance.
“More importantly, this little African boy, I just wanted my culture to shine. “Everything I stand for, when it comes to my comedy, when it comes to my presenting, is based on my culture, is based on my upbringing and I wanted that to shine most importantly.
“Even more importantly this wonderful Queen (Karen), there are two parts to this show – we want to entertain, I believe that God has brought this to me, I just want to make people happy and this gem over here has kept me happy – I love you so much God bless you.”
Karen then said to Eddie: “You are a treasure, I’m going to miss you – well I’ll see you tomorrow!
“We’re going to take up Congolese dancing. I just want to thank you so much for being so positive and bringing such light and smiling, just a beauty to all of us, I want to thank you so much.”
Eddie and Karen Hauer performed their Samba to ‘Calm Down’ by Rema and Selena Gomez, while Zara and her dance partner Graziano Di Prima performed an American Smooth to ‘Can’t Fight the Moonlight’ by LeAnn Rimes in a bid to impress the voting public and judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and Shirley Ballas to remain in the competition.
Craig said about voting for Zara and Graziano: “For me the quality of dance in this couple was far superior and the couple I would like to save is Zara and Graziano.”
Motsi added about also going for the pair: “For me, it was extremely close. The quality was actually very, very close. It came down to details and I would love to save Zara and Graziano.”
Anton gave Zara his vote too, saying: “Well, I thought that was an excellent dance off. I thought both couples danced very, very well but for me with a slightly cleaner technique, I’d like to save Zara and Graziano.”
Head Judge Shirley agreed and said she would have decided to save Zara and Graziano.
With three votes in favour of Zara and Graziano, they won the majority vote meaning Eddie and Karen were out of the contest.
Sunday’s show also featured its professional dancers performing a 1960s Fosse-inspired number and a ‘Planet Earth III’-themed performance of ‘Pompeii’ from Bastille in the ballroom.
The remaining couples will take to the dancefloor next week when ‘Strictly’ returns for a Halloween special on Saturday 28 October at 6.40pm, with the results show the following night at 7.20pm on BBC One.
Both this weekend’s episodes are available to watch now via BBC iPlayer.
Eddie and Karen will also be joining Fleur East for their first exclusive televised interview live on ‘Strictly: It Takes Two’ on Monday 23 October at 6.30pm on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer.

Strictly’s Anton Du Beke ‘warned over saucy joke’

OHMYGOSSIP — Anton Du Beke was reportedly given a warning by ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ bosses after making a saucy joke on the show.
The professional dancer-turned-judge was commenting on the samba performed by Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin over the weekend (21-22.10.23) when he joked about doing a naked dance with fellow panelist Craig Revel Horwood – but it’s been reported the gag didn’t go down well with BBC chiefs because it aired before the watershed.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Producers reminded Anton that Strictly is a family show and cheeky, subtle innuendo for the adult viewers is fine but he’d taken things a little too far.”
Comedian Eddie Kadi was the fourth celebrity to be booted off the show on Sunday night (22.10.23) following a dance-off with ‘Love Island’ star Zara McDermott.
Eddie and Karen Hauer performed their Samba to ‘Calm Down’ by Rema and Selena Gomez, while Zara and her dance partner Graziano Di Prima performed an American Smooth to ‘Can’t Fight the Moonlight’ by LeAnn Rimes- and Zara was chosen to stay.
“Everything I stand for, when it comes to my comedy, when it comes to my presenting, is based on my culture, is based on my upbringing and I wanted that to shine most importantly … There are two parts to this show – we want to entertain, I believe that God has brought this to me, I just want to make people happy and this gem over here has kept me happy – I love you so much God bless you.”

Coleen Nolan reveals ‘stressful’ time filming new Real Full Monty after COVID ripped through cast

OHMYGOSSIP — Coleen Nolan worried that the latest series of ‘The Real Full Monty’ would never happen after the cast were struck down by illness.
The 58-year-old star fronts the annual ITV1 special – which sees celebrities strip off to raise money for cancer research – along with Diversity dancer Ashley Banjo but revealed that rehearsals for the show were “really stressful” because there was never a full team on set.
She is quoted by The Daily Star newspaper as saying: “It was a really stressful and hard one to film. People got ill… two of the celebrities got COVID. “It meant they couldn’t be at the rehearsals. Other people were away working, too. So we didn’t have a full team when we were practising the routine.” There was a point. where I thought, ‘We’re never going to get this… we’re never going to get it.”
The ‘Loose Women’ panellist went on to add that the day of the actual performance was the first time everyone was together but admitted that everything came together in the end.
She added: “We weren’t all together until the day of the performance. It was squeaky bum time.
“It added to the drama of it all. But I could have done without that drama! Thankfully, all of the celebs were able to make it to the gig to do the routine, which is about raising awareness about the importance of getting cancer check-ups. Everyone made it and everyone pulled it out of the bag.”
The charity special will air in December on ITV1 and will feature famous faces like former ‘TOWIE’ stars Gemma Collins and Pete Wicks, broadcaster Julia Bradbury, drag queen Ella Vaday, former ‘Coronation Street’ actress Victoria Ekanoye, and ‘Benidorm’ star Sherrie Hewson

Angel Manuel Soto hopes Blue Beetle has a ‘positive impact’ in young viewers

OHMYGOSSIP — Angel Manuel Soto thinks ‘Blue Beetle’ has had a “positive impact”‘ on young viewers.
The 40-year-old director is at the helm of the DC Comics movie which stars Xolo Maridueña as the first Latino superhero and recalled at one of the screenings of the film, a young boy came up to him in tears after seeing himself represented on screen.
He told ScreenRant: ” I think in one screening that we showed up, we saw a couple of kids, but this one kid, gave me a hug and started crying. Because he never thought that he was ever going to see, not only his community represented that way, but also family members that reminded him of his own family. It felt like he saw his family and he saw them the way he sees them as heroes in his life. it gave him an energy that there is hope in the future to see more stories like this.”
Angel is now hoping that his action film will do something to the “collective psyche” of audiences after offering them something he didn’t see himself during his formative years.
He added: “For me, that meant a lot and also seeing all the young kids on social media dressing up with the mask, with the suit and react to the trailers. I grew up watching heroes, but I never saw a hero that looked like me, that spoke like me, that had a family like mine and what that would do in the future to the collective psyche, I think is very positive. That, for me was, like, ‘Oh my God!’ that type of level of impact on a young kid is in their formative years is very positive.

Reese Witherspoon explains why she won’t make horror movies

OHMYGOSSIP — Reese Witherspoon has explained why she won’t ever star in a horror movie.
The 47-year-old actress has become known for taking roles in comedies and dramas over the years and is rarely seen in anything too “dark” or “intense” but she’s now explained she deliberately stays away from heavier projects because she thinks her fans only want to see her in “light” roles.
Speaking at her Hello Sunshine media company’s Shine Away event in Los Angeles on Saturday (21.10.23), she explained: “I’m not meant to be doing dark, heavy, intense, horror, gore, darkness movies.
“People like to see me do light movies, and I was like: ‘OK. It doesn’t put you in the cool kids club a lot but I don’t care, I don’t want to be in the cool kids club’.
“I want to make optimistic stuff that makes girls excited to be women in this world, because it is a wonderful thing to be a woman in this world.”
During the event, Reese appeared at a discussion with Mindy Kaling and Jennifer Garner and said: “These two women are two of the first people that I called when I did Hello Sunshine. I was like: ‘Will you work with me, how can we work together?’ I pitched Mindy 17 podcasts that we still never did. I was like: ‘What about this one where we just a watch a rom-com and drink wine? Is that a podcast or is that like a Friday night?’”

She added: “I called Jen every time I’d read a great book like: ‘Do you want to star in this?’ OK, but Jen,’ I’m like: ‘I want to be protecting your time with your kids because I know you’re going through a lot right now and this is a lot so is this a good one or not?’
“It was just about the excitement of being able to work with my very dearest friends, too.”

Craig Phillips reveals the only reason he would go back to Big Brother

OHMYGOSSIP — Craig Phillips would only go back to ‘Big Brother’ to perform a DIY task.
The 52-year-old builder shot to fame when he won the inaugural series of the reality show in 2000 and now that the series is back on screens, he has admitted that he would only make a comeback if it was something to do with his day job.
He told The Daily Star: “I certainly wouldn’t go back as another contestant to try and win the show or nominate or anything like that. But I would go back if they wanted me to do a DIY task – that’s really the only reason I would go back to it.”
The former ’60 Minute Makeover’ star went on to add that he was “eagerly anticipating” the revival of the series – which is currently airing on ITV1 and introduced an initial batch of 16 housemates to the viewing public – but admitted that the show possibly should have been taken off air earlier than its initial axing in 2018.
“I was eagerly anticipating seeing who the 16 housemates were going to be on launch day, so it was really nice to watch it again. I’ve got to be honest, I was getting a buzz looking forward to it. In the past, I was glad to see Big Brother end on Channel 4 after the 10/11 years it ran for. I felt it ran its course, but I felt it came back too soon for Channel 5 and it needed a break, a cool off period. But now we’ve been off air for six years, and I was excited and looking forward to its return. I do believe that ITV could bring it back and bring a new breath of fresh air to the show.”

Master Chef’s Gregg Wallace has noticed a switch back to ‘old-fashioned’ cooking

OHMYGOSSIP — Gregg Wallace has noticed a switch back to “old-fashioned” cooking.
The 59-year-old chef has judged amateur cooks on ‘Master Chef’ since its revival in 2005 and also features on celebrity versions of the show and as a group of professional chefs compete against each other in a cook-off for the new series of ‘Master Chef: The Professionals’, has admitted that there is a “fusion” of flavours in today’s world that don’t rely on “gimmicks”.
He said: “I’ve noticed a movement almost back in time, to the skill, the touch and the timing of the chefs, with less reliance on gimmicks and machines. It’s back to old fashioned cookery, which I’m really loving. I’ve also noticed a sort of fusion of East meets West. Using European cookery techniques with Asian flavours is something I find really exciting. I think it’s a great reflection of modern multicultural British society. It’s particularly great to see it in fine dining cuisine, where historically this wasn’t the case. You’ve got chefs from a mix of different backgrounds learning classic techniques along with flavours from all over the world and it’s fantastic.”
The former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ contestant judges alongside fellow chefs Monica Galetti and Marcus Wareing on the new series – which will launch on BBC One on Monday 23 October – and explained that some of the taste tests are amongst some of his “most enjoyable” moments he has had during his TV career.
He said: “One of my favourite parts was sitting next to Marcus and Monica during the skills test. It’s some of the most enjoyable television I’ve ever done in my life because I get to eat it and I get a one-on-one cookery lesson from two of the best chefs in the country. Their skills are just incredible so it’s a real honour and a privilege, and they really love teaching.
“And a really standout moment when we weren’t filming, was when Marcus and Monica and I went to a funfair with a ghost house in Copenhagen. If you can imagine, it was the three of us holding hands in there, which was a mixture of screaming and laughing. One of our finest evenings!”

James Argent ‘had a breakdown’ on Celebrity SAS: ‘I cried like never before!’

OHMYGOSSIP — James Argent had “pushed himself to the limit” when he left ‘Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins’.
The 35-year-old reality star took part in the Channel 4 military-style survival show but quit from the series in the episode aired on Sunday (22.10,23) and has now admitted that he “broke down” like never before and felt “completely done” with the challenge.
He told OK! Magazine: “I know in my heart that was the right time to leave because I had given it 110 per cent and I had nothing left, I was completely done. I know I was done, physically and mentally. And it got to a point where I was at the back, I just couldn’t keep up and I had pushed myself to the very limit.
“I got beasted and I was just a broken man, and I’ll be honest with you, even all that I’ve been through I’ve never really cried or been a crier but I basically had a breakdown and I cried like I’ve never cried before, I broke down.”
However, the former ‘TOWIE’ star – who competed on the show along with the likes of former MP Matt Hancock, model Danielle Lloyd, and ‘Pop Idol’ star Gareth Gates – went on to insist that he took his time on the series “very seriously” and is still proud of his achievements.
He said: “That was after my bag was given in and I went to the doctor just before I exited the camp and I literally broke down. Don’t get me wrong, if I was to go in there a year later I probably would have done even better because I’m a lot fitter and stronger now than what I was. But I did the best I could for where I was, I couldn’t have done any better at the time, I took it very seriously and worked hard.
“The fact that I even got the opportunity to do the show in the first place and pass the medical from where I was, was just an amazing win and achievement in itself.
“The way I feel about SAS is how I feel about the London Marathon, I’m very proud and honoured to say I’ve done it and it’s a bucket list thing, but if you ever said to me, would you ever do it again? I would say absolutely not, under no circumstance nor money.
“Everyone asks me, so is it really that bad? But it’s just as bad, if not even worse than what you see on TV.”

James Buckley reveals if he would let his kids watch The Inbetweeners

OHMYGOSSIP — James Buckley thinks it would be “irresponsible” to let his children watch ‘The Inbetweeners’.
The 36-year-old actor – who has Harrison, 11, and nine-year-old Jude with wife Clair – shot to fame playing sex-mad sixth former Jay Cartwright in the E4 sitcom but does not plan on showing his kids his signature role any time soon because they are too young.
During an appearance on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’, he was asked by stand-in host Christine Lampard if they had ever seen the show and he replied: “I think it would be irresponsible, yeah, because they’re young. They’re young boys.”
Meanwhile, the former ‘White Gold’ star now hosts the ‘In Sickness and in Health’ podcast with his wife and insisted that he has never been concerned about making a fool of himself as long it makes other people laugh.
He added: “That’s always been my rule. If it’s funny, it’s funny. I wouldn’t have been able to do Jay from ‘The Inbetweeners’ if I was worried about looking like an idiot. I don’t mind being a fool as long as it makes people laugh.”
James – who appeared alongside Simon Bird, Joe Thomas and Blake Harrison on ‘The Inbetweeners’ – recently explained that the show could never make a comeback because the only reason they could “justify” the risqué nature of the humour on the series was because the characters were so young at the time.

“That’s why it can’t come back – you can’t have men in their late thirties acting like they’re in sixth form and getting away with that stuff.”
