Former Britain’s Got Talent star joins Coronation Street

OHMYGOSSIP — Jack Carroll has joined the cast of ‘Coronation Street’.
The 25-year-old comedian became known for making light of his cerebral palsy as part of his act on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ in 2013 and has now been cast in the role of Bobby, who is the nephew of established character Carla Barlow (Alison King).
He said: “I’m delighted and honoured to be playing a part in the history of the cultural institution that is ‘Coronation Street’. I hope Bobby brings viewers a lot of laughs in the vein of some of the street’s classic comedy characters.” ‘
Since finishing as runner-up behind shadow theatre group Attraction on the ITV1 talent show, Jack has appeared on ‘Live at the Apollo’ and ‘Sunday Night at the Palladium’.
As an actor, Jack has appeared in two episodes of ‘Doctors’ and played the regular role of Harry in the Sky One sitcom ‘Trollied’ from 2014 until 2018.
Earlier this year, he worked on BBC Three short film ‘Mobility’ and explained that the drama was different to anything else on television because its cast was made up entirely of disabled actors.
He told BBC Newsbeat: “I would say the kind of key difference with Mobility is that it’s an ensemble piece featuring multiple disabled characters. I think when disability gets portrayed on screen, it’s usually one person [who] experiences a disability and then a bunch of able-bodied people react into that, but this is an all-disabled cast.
“And I think that’s something new and something hopefully that will end up being pretty important. Nobody can play a pompous young adult with a disability better than me! I’ve got a lot of experience at it! There’s not just one type of disability, there’s absolutely loads.”

‘Less is more’: Matthew Vaughn urges superhero studios not to exhaust fans

OHMYGOSSIP — Matthew Vaughn has implored Marvel to focus on quality over quantity.
The ‘Kick-Ass’ director fears that “superhero fatigue” is having an impact on movies in the genre and urged the major studios not to bore audiences with so many projects.
Speaking to Screen Rant, Matthew said: “I think at least DC is under; I think James Gunn and (Peter Safran) they’ve got a good chance of popping, and hopefully, (Kevin) Feige will go back to less is more and make less films and concentrate on making them great.”
The 52-year-old director was shocked that ‘The Flash’ – a film that he “really enjoyed” – bombed at the box office earlier this year and wonders if it was due to audience exasperation.
Matthew explained: “What really freaked me out was that I really enjoyed ‘The Flash’. I thought it was a really good film, right? And it died at the box office, right? And I’m like, Wait, hold on, this is a good movie. What happened?
“And I don’t know whether that was superhero fatigue; you’ve just seen it done. So even now that we’ve made it well, there was some really, really complicated, hard, and quite special, unique filmmaking in that film. Which I don’t think (Andy) Muschietti got enough credit for what they pulled off.”
Vaughn, whose other directorial credits include ‘X-Men: First Class’ and ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’, also bemoaned the fact that superhero films rely too heavily on CGI.
He said: “You’re not with the characters. Apart from ‘Guardians’, I still think Groot and the raccoon are f****** pieces of genius, that I feel so much for them. So I’ll be intrigued.”

Kenny Ortega ‘disappointed’ by Hocus Pocus sequel snub

OHMYGOSSIP — Kenny Ortega is “disappointed” that he wasn’t asked to direct ‘Hocus Pocus 2’.
The 73-year-old filmmaker helmed the classic 1993 Disney movie but was left frustrated that he wasn’t approached to be involved in the development of last year’s follow-up – which saw Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy reprise their roles as the trio of witches.
Kenny told Entertainment Weekly: “No, they did not approach me to direct it, which was disappointing, but, of course, in the end, I was very supportive, wanting for Bette, Kathy, and Sarah to have another crack at it.
“You let go of things, you surrender, you move on, you don’t hold on, you don’t have ownership. I would’ve loved to have gone back and play again, but that I didn’t is okay.”
The director revealed that he is still yet to watch ‘Hocus Pocus 2’ despite the flick’s success when it was released on streaming service Disney+ a year ago.
Kenny said: “I’ll see it this Halloween. I just didn’t see it last year when it came out, I was working, and then it just never was something that I could get to. But, I will. Of course I will.”
Disney announced earlier this year that a third ‘Hocus Pocus’ film is in development and Ortega says that he is both “available and interested” to work on the project.
The ‘High School Musical’ director said: “Young blood, new ideas, I don’t know, for whatever reason that they don’t, it’s their choice. I was available, I was interested, and I still am available and interested, if that were to ever be a conversation that someone wanted to have with me.
“And yet, at the same time, I support the franchise however they want to move forward with it.”

Dancing On Ice couple QUIT after disagreeing with direction of show

OHMYGOSSIP — A ‘Dancing On Ice’ married couple have left the show, citing their disagreements with the recent series’ change in direction.
Alexandra Schauman, 43, from Finand, and Lukasz Rozycki, 44, from Poland, have been professionally skating on the ITV show since 2010, and have partnered with the likes of Sam Nixon, Trisha Goddard and James Jordan over their time on the programme, though their time of the ice has now come to an end.
In a statement from their Swedish home, Alexandra told MailOnline: “Lukasz and I are not returning for the upcoming season of ‘Dancing On Ice’, and wanted to say a few words about that before it is publicly announced.
“We have absolutely loved being part of the show for so long, but it has taken a very different angle and we struggle to agree with a lot of it.
“Mostly we’ve realised there is no opportunity to ‘grow’ on the show or take on different roles. And maybe it’s not so attractive for the show that we aren’t dramatic, we treat people with respect, and we aren’t interested in the increasingly contrived romantic narratives.”
The star then admitted the couple were sad to be leaving.
He added: “The knowledge that we are now not going to take part in the upcoming series is very sad and very strange, as the show has become almost like a second home for us.
“We are also very sorry to disappoint our fans whose support means the world to us. We will soon be heading overseas to be part of the creative team on a Christmas show, but we hope to find a way of watching’ Dancing On Ice’ from January and wish all the very best to everyone on it.”
Lukasz agreed with his wife of 15 years, and emphasised that ‘Dancing on Ice’ had begun to weigh heavily on them: “We’ve had some amazing experiences on Dancing On Ice, got to meet and train some incredible people, and performed some special routines.
“The show is great fun but hard work and challenging as everyone who has taken part will attest to. Over the years it has taken its toll on us, mentally and physically.
“The job that we pros do is sometimes very underestimated. We have so much to do that it can be overwhelming and stressful.”
Even so, the pair explained that whilst their time on the show was at an end, they were not opposed to returning in the future: “We have a very good relationship with the execs who have been very supportive, and we’ve definitely left the door open for discussions about returning in the future.”

Dr Alex George felt ‘a lot of guilt and shame’ when his brother took his own life

OHMYGOSSIP — Dr. Alex George felt “a lot of guilt and shame” when his brother took his own life.
The 32-year-old TV star – who shot to fame when he competed on ‘Love Island’ in 2018 – now serves as the UK Youth Mental Health Ambassador within the Department for Education and after his brother Llŷr took his own life at the age of just 19 during the COVID-19 pandemic has admitted that he often wondered if he could have spotted any signs that something was seriously wrong.
Speaking on the ‘Let’s Start Talking’ podcast, he told ‘Loose Women’ star Coleen Nolan: “It was the midst of the pandemic, he found it difficult with the lockdown as a lot of young people did but perhaps in context with what was going on, you’d expect them to be pretty fed up. So, no, I wouldn’t say we expected things at all. But obviously, you look back and think ‘What can you predict, what can you look at?’ It was very hard on my mum and dad. It was them three, they were living together at the time. It was hard as a brother as well. I was working in London at the time, I was making videos for Instagram and YouTube about looking after your mental health during the pandemic. I released a video two weeks before he died and when something like that happens you feel a lot of guilt and shame in yourself because you wonder what you could have spotted.”
The former A+E doctor went on to add that he will “carry” the guilt for the rest of his life but is now able to look at the situation more objectively although he still believes that it is a “preventable” cause of death.
He added: “I think that’s something I’ll carry for the rest of my life but I’m much more able to look at it now and see that ultimately I can’t make choices for him but I think it’s natural as a family member to kind of think…”
“I don’t think I’ve changed my opinion…ultimately it is a preventable cause of death, I think we should be aiming that no one dies by suicide in this country. Sadly, we’ve still got so many young people who die by suicide. Under the age of 35, it’s the number of cause of death. My work and really my role is to raise awareness of the issue and fight the stigma.”

Stardust director had big plans for fantasy sequel set in 1960s London

OHMYGOSSIP — Matthew Vaughn had big plans for a ‘Stardust’ sequel.
The 52-year-old director was at the helm of the beloved 2007 fantasy adventure – which was based on Neil Gaiman’s 1999 novel of the same name and starred the likes of Claire Danes, Charlie Cox and Ricky Gervais – and despite Paramount Pictures being put off by the box office performance, the filmmaker was keen to explore other ideas with those characters.
He told Collider: “It was such a, you know this concept I’d done.
“The bottom line of it, you said you’re a big fan, it’s the death of Tristan and Yvaine, and he throws the necklace off, the necklace lands in 1960s London.
“So you have these crazy characters running around 1960s London but fitting in because it was a crazy time.”
He and the studio disagreed over how the original movie should be marketed, with Paramount apparently wanting to present the film as something akin to ‘Lord of the Rings’.
He said: “Listen, ‘Stardust’, again was a bittersweet time for me, because when Paramount were releasing it they kept trying to make it look like ‘Lord of the Rings’ and I’d say, ‘This ain’t Lord of the Rings’ and they went, ‘What is it?’ and I went ‘Princess Bride’ and they’re like ‘Princess Bride tanked.’
“And I was like, ‘Yes, it tanked because it was marketed badly and then it became one of the biggest DVDs of all time, so lets just make it lets embrace it.’ ”
The movie went onto earn $137 million at the worldwide box office, making it his highest grossing film up to that point, although it wasn’t considered as much of a success for the studio.
Vaughn added: “And they would not listen to me. So then in England, they went do what you want, and we called it the fairytale that won’t behave.
“And it was my biggest grossing movie at that time. So the economics I have to figure out, there’s now new people at Paramount, but the story was fun.”

Leonardo DiCaprio persuaded Martin Scorsese to flip the script for Killers of the Flower Moon

OHMYGOSSIP — Leonardo DiCaprio persuaded Martin Scorsese to alter the script for ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ two years into writing it.
The ‘Taxi Driver’ director teamed up with Eric Roth to pen the script for the film based on David Grann’s 2017 book of the same name – which focused on the FBI investigation into the murders of Osage Native Americans in Oklahoma throughout the 1920s – with DiCaprio originally lined up to play head investigator Tom White.
However, Scorsese ended up completely overhauling the script and changing the story’s focus to the character of Ernest Burkhart and his marriage to an Osage woman named Mollie.
After changing the script, Scorsese switched DiCaprio’s role – giving him the part of Ernest – while Jesse Plemons took on the role of Tom White, who became a supporting character.
And it was DiCaprio who felt the story should be told from the Osage community’s perspective instead of the bureau agents investigating.
Speaking to The Irish Times, the director said: “Leo came to me and asked, ‘Where is the heart of this story?’ I had had meetings and dinners with the Osage, and I thought, Well, there’s the story. The real story, we felt, was not necessarily coming from the outside, with the bureau, but rather from the inside, from Oklahoma.”
After changing the perspective, the legendary filmmaker met with 300 members of Oklahoma’s Gray Horse community.
He said: “I always said if I ever get involved with anything that has to do with indigenous people, I’d better know who the people are or, at least, feel comfortable with them as human beings.”
Scorsese had his own concerns about making the movie “about all the white guys”.
He told Time magazine: “After a certain point, I realised I was making a movie about all the white guys. Meaning I was taking the approach from the outside in, which concerned me.”

Monica Galetti ‘back for good’ on MasterChef: The Professionals

OHMYGOSSIP — Monica Galetti is returning to ‘MasterChef: The Professionals’ for good after missing last year’s show.
The renowned chef – who stepped back in 2022 to look after an ill relative – will be back with fellow judges Gregg Wallace and Marcus Wareing for the upcoming 16th series on the BBC and she isn’t planning on going anywhere.
She told the Radio Times magazine: “Unless I’m pushed into a corner or things come to a head, I’m not going to step back again.
“It’s a part of my life and something I love doing.”
She wasn’t happy missing last year’s series, and she found it “so hard” knowing the programme was going on without her.
She added: “I missed the journeys of the chefs.
“It’s why I always wanted want to come back for another series – the excitement of seeing who walks through the doors.
“What are they going to show us? What kind of journey at they going to go on? Knowing all of that was happening without me last series was so hard.”

By the time they reached the end, the final three will have the chance to impress the judges with everything they learnt throughout the gruelling competition.
They will be tasked with producing “the best three-course menu of their lives” to match the panel’s high standards.
Gregg said in a statement: “This is an incredible, high-stakes competition and I get such a thrill knowing that this is a genuinely life-changing opportunity for these chefs. I’m so excited to see who will walk through our doors.”
Marcus added: “My expectations are high and I’m looking for the very best talent. The chef worthy of the trophy needs guts, flair and absolute focus on reaching that goal.”

Strictly’s Neil Jones and fiancee Chyna Mills reveal baby daughter’s dance-inspired name

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional Neil Jones and his fiancée Chyna Mills have named their newborn daughter Havana Jones.
The 41-year-old choreographer opted for the capital of Cuba as his little bundle’s moniker as it’s the “home of dance”.
He told HELLO! magazine: “Cuba is the home of dance and very multicultural so it was perfect; it sums us up.”
Neil added: “She has dancer’s feet.”
And at only a few weeks old, the little one is already reacting to her daddy being on TV on the BBC One Latin and ballroom show.
Chyna, 24, said: “We’ve been watching Neil on Strictly from home. I told her, ‘Look, it’s Daddy on the screen’ and at that moment, she did these little smiles with her eyes closed.”
Asked if he wants Havana to follow in his footsteps and become a dancer, he replied: “It would be amazing if she wants to be a dancer.
“But she can be whatever she wants to be.”
The pair started dating after Neil – who was previously married to fellow ‘Strictly’ pro Katya Jones – slid into the reality star’s DMs and they got engaged in April.
Meanwhile, Neil has insisted he’s “not bothered” about having a partner on ‘Strictly’.
He has not been paired with a celebrity for the current series of the hit show but insisted that even though it is “great” when he does get the chance to compete with a star, he is still just happy to be a part of the show in any capacity.
He told OK! magazine: “I always say that everything happens for a reason. Every year when I get the call from ‘Strictly’, I say, ‘I don’t mind whether I have a partner or not, honestly, I’m not bothered at all’. If I do have a partner then, great, I take them aside and ask what they want from this process. And if I don’t, also great, I still turn up, cheer everyone on and give them advice. I love the show either way.”
The TV star also revealed that former ‘Love Island’ contestant Chyna hadn’t even watched the competition when they first met.
He said: “When I was on tour with Strictly last time, Chyna would come and visit all the time. She hangs out with the other dancers and just immediately became part of the family, they all love her. Chyna had never watched ‘Strictly’ when we met, her family liked it but she wasn’t a fan. She will kill me for saying that, but she’s definitely coming around now. I’ll catch her watching it and sometimes she’ll even say if someone danced well, so I know she likes it.”

Celebrity Big Brother reboot ‘in the works’ at ITV

OHMYGOSSIP — A ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ reboot is reportedly in the works at ITV.
The beloved reality TV show, which sees 16 contestants compete for the £100,000 prize, recently returned to screens after a 5-year hiatus and it’s said there are plans for the celebrity version of the programme to also make a triumphant comeback.
According to Broadcast, ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ is now being worked on, and will move from ITV2 – where the civilian version is currently airing – to ITV 1 at some point next year.
When ITV’s director of reality commissioning Paul Mortimer was asked about the potential future of the show, earlier this year, he teased: “We have bought into Big Brother, a lot of us at ITV are BB fans. I can’t imagine that we’re in it to just do two six-week runs across 2023 and 2024. This is the start of it – so just watch this space.”
There is still nothing confirmed at the moment, however.
Speaking to RadioTimes.com, a spokesperson for ITV said: “At present, we are focused on the current series of Big Brother, and any announcements regarding future series will be made in due course.”
The ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ spin-off originally aired in 2002, with the likes of Katie Price, Ryan Clark and Gemma Collins stepping into the famous house.
The final series saw former ‘Coronation Street’ actor Ryan Thomas emerge victorious, with the likes of Kirstie Alley, Sally Morgan, Jermaine Pennant, Roxanne Pallet and Jessica Alves also appearing.
Both the celebrity and normal version of the show were axed by Channel 5 in 2018, before the recent ITV revival.
‘Big Brother’ currently airs on ITV2 every night other than Saturdays at 9pm. The show is also available to stream on ITVX.

Zoe Ball suffered embarrassing wardrobe malfunction on Mamma Mia! I Have A Dream

OHMYGOSSIP — Zoe Ball suffered an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction during ‘Mamma Mia! I Have A Dream’.
The TV star, 52, will host the new ITV1 show – which sees contestants compete for the roles of Sky and Sophie in an upcoming London production of the ABBA musical ‘Mumma Mia!’ – and she ended up experiencing an awkward mishap during filming thanks to some “torrential rain”.
Talking to The Sun newspaper, Zoe said: “You fly out to Greece, and you think the weather’s going to be amazing and it was absolutely awful the first few days.
“Initially we had torrential rain and some of the sets were blowing away.
“For one show I was wearing long flares and the water from the set was up to my knees by the end. I had tide marks on my trousers.”
Thankfully, the presenter wasn’t left wet and miserable for too long, and she was soon able to dry off.
She added: “We had the audience under umbrellas, but then the gods of Olympus smiled at us, and the sunshine came out.
Yesterday, ITV unveiled its cast of 14 hopeful performers, which includes Tobias, 22, who has appeared on tour alongside Strictly’s Giovanni Pernice, and Desmonda, 27, who moved to London from Indonesia to follow her dream of becoming a West End star.
Zoe joins judges Samantha Barks, Jessie Ware, Amber Riley and Alan Carr on the show, and the presenter previously teased fans about what to expect from the new talent show.
She said: “They are going to go through quite the journey but like the show and like the movie, there is going to be song, dance and fun in the sun.”
‘Mamma Mia! I Have A Dream’ will appear on the screen on October 22 on ITV1 at 6pm, and will be available for streaming on ITVX.

Ricky Gervais is making animated series because ‘filming is a hard slog’

OHMYGOSSIP — Ricky Gervais is making an animated series because “filming is a hard slog”.
‘The Office’ creator foolishly believed that making a cartoon would be a lot easier than the demands on being physically on set, but now he understands he was very mistaken as his next project – which he is yet to publicly announce – is taking “a long time” to put together.
The 62-year-old comedian told fans in an online question and answering session: “Yes, I do. We started it, and it’s gonna take a long time ‘cos it’s animation. It won’t be finished until next year. I don’t think there’s anything like it.
“I did animation ‘cos I thought, ‘I’m getting old now’ and filming is a hard slog. I thought, ‘Animation, that’s easy.’ It’s not. I’ve been a fool.”
Ricky recently admitted that he “could hardly walk” after performing his new stand-up show ‘Armageddon’ in Birmingham when he was “a bit under the weather”.
He wrote on social media last month: “I was a bit under the weather on stage last night, but I got through it.
“Then I didn’t sleep due to coughing, sweating, shivering. Felt even worse today. Could hardly walk.
“Also, my teeth feel too big for my mouth. What the f****** Christ sort of symptom is that? Roll on death.”
When his followers pointed out that he could be suffering from a bout of COVID-19, the ‘After Life’ star replied that he would supply attendees with face coverings “only if they were really ugly”.
Ricky later gave a health update when he shared that he was feeling “ a lot better”.
He added: “Thanks for all your ‘get well soon’ wishes. They worked. I feel a lot better today. That’s the last time I eat sweet and sour bat before a gig.”

The Wombles ‘returning with modern twist’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Wombles’ is returning with a modern remake.
The iconic BBC series – which was first voiced by Bernard Cribbins when it aired in the mid-1970s before a 1990s remake on ITV – was remastered earlier this year for its 50th birthday, and now further plans are in place.
As reported by Deadline, Altitude Television is working on a fresh update of the beloved family series about a group of furry creatures who live under Wimbledon Common and recycle litter left behind by locals.
Altitude – who recently produced ITV’s big budget remake of Sir Michael Caine’s ‘Ipcress File’ – are teaming up with The Wombles production house on the project.
Meanwhile, ‘How To Train Your Dragon’ writer Will Davies has written the script.
The original stop-motion show was based on Elisabeth Beresford’s series of children’s books, while the studio hasn’t discussed how it plans to modernise the show.
The inspiration for the show came when Elisabeth enjoyed a Boxing Day walk with her children Kate and Marcus, with Kate frequently mispronouncing the area as Wombledon.
Earlier this year, Marcus told the Daily Mirror: “She’d written many children’s books and TV series and her publishers had said, ‘Come up with the answer to Paddington Bear!’
“When my sister said, ‘Isn’t it lovely to be on Wombledon Common?’, she said, ‘That’s it! The Wombles of Wimbledon’.
“Mum invented this burrow full of Wombles and based them on everyone who’d been at Christmas lunch that year.”
And at the time, he suggested his late mum would be delighted to see her creations “still appeal” to people around the world.
He added: “Mum would be very happy they still appeal to many people of different generations around the world. The Wombles work is never finished and more relevant than ever.”

‘It’s coming along’: Rian Johnson is making progress on third Knives Out movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Rian Johnson has teased that the third ‘Knives Out’ film is “coming along”.
The 49-year-old director is working on another movie featuring Daniel Craig’s detective Benoit Blanc and revealed that he has most of the key details in mind for the picture that he is now able to work on again as the Hollywood writers’ strike has ended.
Rian told The Wrap: “It’s coming along. I obviously couldn’t work during the strike, and now that it’s over, I’m diving in full force, and so it’s coming along.
“I’ve got the premise, I’ve got the setting, I’ve got what the movie is in my head. It’s just a matter of writing the damn thing.”
Netflix purchased the rights to the second and third ‘Knives Out’ movies in a $450 million deal in 2021 but Johnson previously suggested that even more pictures could be made.
Speaking to Total Film magazine, the ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ director said: “As long as the two of us are still having fun, and as long as we can continue to make these truly new experiences each time, and find new ways to challenge ourselves.
“The second we feel like we’re repeating ourselves, or just turning a crank on a machine, we’ll stop. Because to me, the whole conception of this whole series is the same way Agatha Christie did it with her books – we’re doing something new and surprising every time.”
Johnson previously explained that the third film will be “very, very different” from the 2022 sequel ‘Glass Onion’.
The filmmaker said: “I’ve got a big cloud of ideas, but it hasn’t all snapped into focus yet. It’s exciting, though, and it’s very, very different from this one. That’s what I’m excited about.”

Samuel L. Jackson and Pierce Brosnan cast in Unholy Trinity

OHMYGOSSIP — Samuel L. Jackson, Pierce Brosnan and Brandon Lessard are starring in ‘Unholy Trinity’.
The trio have boarded Richard Gray’s Western which is currently shooting in Montana after securing a SAG-AFTRA Interim Agreement that enables work on the project to continue despite the ongoing actors’ strike.
The movie is described as a tale of revenge, dark secrets and buried treasures. It picks up in the moments before the execution of Isaac Broadway as he instructs his estranged son Henry (Lessard) to murder the man who framed him for a crime he did not commit.
Determined to fulfil his father’s wish, Henry travels to the town of Trinity but an unexpected turn of events leaves him trapped in the area and caught between Sheriff Gabriel Dove (Brosnan) and the enigmatic figure of St. Christopher (Jackson).
Lee Zachariah is the writer behind the movie that is being executive produced by Amadeus Productions.
Gray told Deadline: “Thrilled doesn’t even begin to describe how we feel about collaborating with such exceptional talent on ‘Unholy Trinity’.
“It’s a captivating story, and we feel fortunate to be able to make an epic Western during the strike, working alongside SAG every step of the way. Paradise Valley, Montana, is a spectacular location and the ideal backdrop for this special story.”
Meanwhile, Samuel is also set to star as the US president in ‘The Beast’.
The movie’s title refers to the presidential limousine that is nicknamed ‘The Beast’ by the Secret Service. The impenetrable vehicle is stocked with grenades, shotguns, armour plating and bombproofing.
When a hostile militia coordinates a coup against the United States, the president (Jackson) discovers the extent of The Beast’s highly classified capabilities.
Separated from his wife, the president must control The Beast – and the monster that lurks inside him – to save his life, the life of Secret Service agent Taft (Joel Kinnaman) and his country.

Mamma Mia! I Have A Dream contestants will sing more than just ABBA songs

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Mamma Mia! I Have A Dream’ viewers can expect more than just ABBA songs as the area of battle for the contestants.
The ITV show, which premiers on October 22, will see hopeful performers competing for the leading roles of Sophie and Sky in the London West End production.
The creator of the ‘Mamma Mia!’ musical Judy Craymer – who will judge the contestants on the show – told ITV: “Audiences can expect total escapism – this show looks and feels like no other entertainment show on television. It is high-energy, feel-good, all-singing, all-dancing.
“They will see the contestants mentored through workshops, challenges, bootcamps and masterclasses. They sing not only ABBA songs, but other pop and rock classics, and perform duets and solo with full choreography and an ensemble cast.
“It’s not just a talent show, it’s a never-seen-before behind-the-scenes look at a world class musical theatre training programme.
“And that’s important because it goes beyond the TV show – whoever wins will be working in the West End.”
The talented contestants will be tested of their singing, dancing and acting abilities on a “sun-kissed Greek island”, which ITV hopes will see audience members transported to the “magical world of Mamma Mia!”
Over the course of eight weeks, the 14 hopefuls will show what they’ve got, with each week seeing more and more unlucky participants having to wave goodbye to their ABBA West End dream.
The live grand finale will be held in one of London’s major theatres, where the two winners will be revealed.
‘Mamma Mia! I Have A Dream’ will debut on October 22 on ITV1 at 6pm and can be streamed on ITVX.
