Mission: Impossible sequel delayed until 2025

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Cruise’s next ‘Mission: Impossible’ film has been delayed until May 2025.
The eighth instalment in the action franchise ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, Part Two’ had been due to land in cinemas in June 2024, but the follow-up to 2023’s ‘Dead Reckoning, Part 1’ has now been bumped back by almost a year.
It’s also been reported the film will also undergo a name change with a new title expected to be announced at a later date. However, the picture is still expected to directly follow the events of ‘Dead Reckoning Part 1’
The movie had been in production this year but shut down to allow the cast to promote the first instalment over the summer. However, the cameras remained off as the Hollywood actors strike started in July meaning the cast could not get back to work on the film.
The action film is among a number of other titles which have also been pushed back including ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’ – a prequel to the 2018 original starring Lupita Nyong’o and Denis Hare – which had originally been due for release in March 2024. The film will now land in June 2024.
Animated adventure ‘SpongeBob SquarePants’ has also been delayed from May 2025 to December 2025.
‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, Part 2’ director Christopher McQuarrie previously promised fans they will be treated to some epic underwater scenes in the new movie.
The 54-year-old director and his lead actor Tom Cruise have spent time working out how to perfect underwater sequences after using them in previous movies ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ and ‘Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation’ and McQuarrie says they will be taken to the next level in the upcoming sequel.
He told Collider: “Tom and I are constantly re-evaluating our own work and asking ourselves how we could have done it better. “We’ve done underwater in ‘Edge of Tomorrow’, and we worked underwater in ‘Rogue Nation’, and we left very dissatisfied with those sequences.” The filmmaker continued: “And we analyse why we were dissatisfied. What were all the factors working against us? The biggest being, not having real knowledge in that area. “Everything you’re looking at in ‘Dead Reckoning’ is the application of knowledge from previous sequences.”

‘We’d love to!’ EastEnders’ Natalie Cassidy ready for marriage after nearly 8 years engaged

OHMYGOSSIP — Natalie Cassidy finally wants to get married after nearly eight years of being engaged.
The 40-year-old ‘EastEnders’ legend – who plays Sonia Fowler on the BBC One soap – began dating Walford cameraman Marc Humphreys in 2015, and the pair got engaged a year later.
Now, she is keen to finally tie the knot, but cannot decide whether to have a big nuptials or do something “really easy”.
She told OK! magazine: “We’d love to get married. We’ve been engaged for almost eight years!
“One minute I want a great big wedding, the next minute I think we could just go somewhere really easy. I’m very indecisive. But at some point I do think we’ll get our close family together at a lovely place in London, go to a restaurant and have a big party afterwards.
“Ten years would be a brilliant time to do it. Either 10 years together or 10 years engaged.”
The actress – who has daughters Eliza, 13, from her relationship with ex Adam Cottrell, and Joanie, seven, with Marc – also emphasised the importance of finding a balance with your partner when you become parents.
She said: “Life can take over, kids can take over, and before you know it, you’ve had no time together on your own.
“You need to make time for romance. If it slips and we think we haven’t done anything nice for a month, we do bring it up. He’s better than me actually. He’ll bring it up more.
“We both fancy the pants off each other still, which is a good thing.”
Natalie heaped praise on her fiancé for being an “absolutely amazing” father.
She said: “It was only a year or so into our relationship, if not less, when Eliza called him Daddy. So I feel like I’m really enjoying us as a family.
“And I’m looking forward to 10 years’ time when the girls are older. I’ll be 50, and Marc and I will be able to have our life. We’ll be able to do stuff together, whether that’s travelling or enjoying our interests.”

‘This is where we are now!’ Maureen Lipman offered extra security by Coronation Street

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Coronation Street’ have offered Dame Maureen Lipman security guards to protect her from anti-Semitic attacks.
The 77-year-old actress, who is Jewish, was “really surprised” when she was given the option of additional security, amid the conflict in the Middle East, which erupted into violence on October 7th when Hamas militants launched an attack on Israel, killing 1,400 people and taking more than 200 hostages.
According to The Sun newspaper, she said at the London Centre for the Study of Contemporary Antisemitism: “I had a real surprise this week when I was offered security guards by the people at ‘Coronation Street’ – this is where we are now.”
It comes after an increase in attacks on British Jews since Hamas stormed into Israel.
A source at the channel told the publication: “The wellbeing of all our cast and crew is of utmost importance.
“Everyone should feel safe to come to work, and Maureen has the full support of the entire ‘Coronation Street’ family.”
Along with more than 13,000 others, Maureen has signed the October Declaration, an open letter condemning antisemitism and expressing support for British Jews.
Part of the letter reads: “We share the shock and distress of Israelis, British Jews and compassionate people around the world at the unfolding horror and its consequences.
“We call for all the hostages taken on 7 October to be released immediately. It is an essential step on the path to peace and the cessation of hostilities.”
‘Countdown’ star Rachel Riley and playwright Sir Tom Stoppard are among the other stars who have signed the open letter.
What’s more, ‘Friday Night Dinner’ actress Tracy-Ann Oberman, 57, who is Jewish, recently spoke of having extra security during her touring production of Shakespeare’s ‘The Merchant of Venice’.
She wrote: “For the last week, the production has had to have security men around keeping an eye on things. It’s like a dystopian nightmare.
“A Jewish actress putting on a play about anti-Semitism which needs to be made secure because of Jew-hating extremists.
“As one reviewer said, ‘Written in 1600, set in 1936, as relevant today in 2023.’ Ain’t that the truth.”

‘It’s MK and my late mum bought it for me!’ Alison Hammond hits back at watch criticism

OHMYGOSSIP — Alison Hammond hit back at a ‘This Morning’ viewer after she was criticised for “wearing what looks like a Rolex” amid the cost of living crisis.
The ‘This Morning’ presenter revealed her timepiece is actually an £185 Michael Kors watch, which was given to her by her late mother Maria.
Posting on X, the social media formerly known as Twitter, a viewer wrote to Alison: “#ThisMorning I love watching @AlisonHammond but with the cost of living affecting us all, I find it uncomfortable seeing her wearing, what looks like a Rolex. (sic)”
The 48-year-old TV presenter replied: “It’s actually a Micheal Kors Watch my late mum bought me and it cost her £185 of her hard earned money . It means more to me than any Rolex . Sorry you felt uncomfortable. (sic)”
Alison opened up about how she misses her mother – who passed away in 2020 after being diagnosed with liver and lung cancer just months after dad Clifford passed away – while appearing on the ITV1’s ‘DNA Journey’ with ‘Good Morning Britain’ anchor Kate Garraway, 56, in 2022.
She said: “I’m just so sad my mum’s not here to see it. She really wanted to know more about her family. And this is all on her side, it’s mad. I do talk to her all the time.
“When she died, it felt like a different sort of relationship with her – more spiritual. I know she’s there. Obviously, because she knew she was dying before she did die, and she said, ‘You know I’m always going to be there with you.’
“And I said, ‘Thank you mum, but not all the time, not when I’m with a bloke’. And she said, ‘No, I’ll be there!’ ”
The ‘Great British Bake Off’ presenter previously paid tribute to her late mum following her death.
Alison said: “Today I dedicate Valentine’s Day to my beautiful, wonderful Mother Maria who passed away from liver and lung cancer. Yesterday my family and I celebrated her amazing life and laid her to rest in a beautiful ceremony she would have been proud of.
“Thank you mummy for giving me the strength to move forward in the knowledge that your ok and with God in Heaven now. I will always remember you and try and make you proud. I love you mum. (sic)”

Barry Keoghan’s ‘dark sex appeal’ helped him get Saltburn part

OHMYGOSSIP — Barry Keoghan’s “dark sex appeal” landed him the lead role in ‘Saltburn’.
The 31-year-old star plays the part of Oliver Quick in the psychological thriller and director Emerald Fennell was desperate to work with her leading man after being hypnotised by his performance in ‘The Killing of a Sacred Deer’.
The ‘Promising Young Woman’ director told Empire magazine: “I had seen Barry Keoghan in ‘The Killing of a Sacred Deer’ and had wanted to work with him ever since.
“We never leave Oliver’s side, and so we needed someone as singular and compelling as Barry; someone who could bring both the vulnerability and the dark sex appeal Oliver requires.”
The movie sees working class Oxford University student Oliver taken under the wing of the charming and posh Felix Catton and Emerald felt that Jacob Elordi was the perfect actor to play the charismatic aristocrat.
The 38-year-old filmmaker explained: “Felix, the Golden Boy, could easily have been a cipher.
“But Jacob Elordi came in to audition and made him so devastatingly real. The thing I’d been looking for was someone who looked like a god, but was actually just a fairly straightforward disappointing mortal – a lot of people were tempted to lean into a more arch, Sebastian Flyte style of audition, but Jacob’s Felix felt like the sort of boy you’d do anything to snog in Freshers’ week.”
The thought-provoking nature of ‘Saltburn’ has won Emerald praise and she thinks it is vital that films make audiences “uncomfortable” at times.
She told Deadline’s Breaking Baz column: “If you’re aiming to make something that sounds true and even if it’s metaphorical and kind of Gothic, and there’s something that makes people shift in their seats, it’s because we’re feeling something that maybe we shouldn’t. That maybe we don’t want to interrogate.
“And so there’s no point in being provocative for the sake of it – but if you’re kind of prodding at something uncomfortable, that’s what movies are for.
“I stick my finger in.”

Alexander Payne blasts ‘damn long’ movies

OHMYGOSSIP — Alexander Payne has criticised “damn long” modern movies.
The Oscar-winning director took aim at films that have overly long runtimes amid debate about the 206-minute length of Martin Scorsese’s new picture ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’.
Speaking at the Middleburg Film Festival, Alexander said: “You want your movie to be as short as possible. There are too many damn long movies these days.”
The 62-year-old director does feel that some movies can justify marathon runtimes but says that stories need to be told tightly to make the films a success.
Payne said: “If your movie’s three and a half hours at least let it be the shortest possible version of a three and a half hour movie. Like ‘The Godfather Part II’ and ‘Seven Samurai’ are super tight three and a half hour and they go by like that. So there’s no ipso facto judgement about length.”
The ‘Downsizing’ director explained that he puts “economy” at the centre of his approach to filmmaking.
He said: “Film is a constant search for economy. You want the screenplay as short as possible. You want the acting as brisk as possible, given whatever the basic rhythm of the film is. And then in the editing you want it to be as short as it can possibly be, but no shorter.”
Payne explained that he even wanted to trim down his acclaimed new movie ‘The Holdovers’.
He said: “It’s still a little long. We started screening it, and (at) the first couple festivals I was looking at the programme, and it said 133 minutes. I had to call up the studio and go, ‘I don’t think it’s 133 minutes’. I thought we had gotten it down to around 124. ‘No, it’s 133 after the credits roll’.”

Amanda Abbington reveals real reason she quit Strictly Come Dancing as she breaks silence

OHMYGOSSIP — Amanda Abbington quit ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ for “personal reasons”.
The 49-year-old actress has broken her silence on her decision to pull out of the BBC Latin and ballroom show, during which she praised her “hardworking and talented” fellow contestants, admitting it was an “absolute joy” working with them.
She wrote on Instagram: “It is with deepest regret that I had to leave Strictly. I did not come to this decision easily or lightly but for personal reasons I am unable to continue. It was an absolute joy working with my fellow contestants, they are a beautiful, hardworking and talented group of people who I love and who I will miss seeing every Friday and Saturday and competing alongside.”
Amanda also thanked the “incredible” production team on the show, and admitted she is “so sad” she cannot continue with the programme.
She added: “I want to thank the incredible Production team and everyone on Strictly who looked after me and who are so kind and caring. It’s a wonderful bunch of people and I’ll miss all of them.
“I’m so sad that I am unable to go any further. Thank you to everyone who voted and who sent wonderful messages and inspiring support. You are all amazing. Truly. Thank you. xxx (sic)”
But some fans have pointed out she didn’t mention her pro partner Giovanni Pernice, 33, in her post.
Giovanni took to Instagram on Monday night (23.10.23) to speak about her departure, admitting he finds it “so sad” they cannot continue in the competition.
He wrote: “Amanda ..

‘I thought they’d be better off without me’ Chris Kamara experienced suicidal thoughts

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Kamara has told how he experienced suicidal thoughts while gripped by apraxia, due to the “apparent hopelessness” of his future.
The former footballer-turned-TV star, 65, was diagnosed with apraxia in 2021, which exacerbates balance, strength, dexterity and speech, and he has now told how he turned to animals on his smallholding to cope because they “don’t judge”.
Former ‘Soccer Saturday’ star Chris – who is known affectionately as Kammy – also told how he considered “something extreme” as a “way out”, and compared his situation with Gary Speed, who tragically took his own life following a battle with depression.
In an excerpt from his new book, ‘Kammy’, published in the Daily Mirror newspaper, Chris writes: “I’m going to admit something now, something I’ve never mentioned before. It’s hard for me to talk about, so bear with me. As I was gripped by apraxia, and the apparent hopelessness of my future, I’d been escaping more and more down to the animals at the back of the house. Hidden away, that smallholding became my refuge.
“Animals don’t judge. You look after them and in return they show you unconditional love. I would talk to them as I stood there. I’d let all my innermost feelings tumble out.
“I didn’t need to worry about them noticing my slowed speech or my compromised stability. It seems silly to say they ‘listened’, but in those moments that’s how it felt.
“Going down there allowed me to unravel my thoughts. And I’ll be honest, some of those thoughts could be dark. I worried about where I was going to end up. Would my physical and neurological deterioration just keep going and going? And I worried more about the effect it would have on those around me.”
The ex-Sheffield United player then admitted he wondered at times if his family would be “better off” without him.
He wrote “And it’s at that point I’d think, ‘They’d be better off without me.’ I thought of Gary Speed and then I thought of my own position – a man in his mid-sixties, whose best days, because of a brain condition, were gone, struggling on while becoming a weight on all around him. Whose wife and children would be left to deal with whatever I became.
“I didn’t want that for Anne and the boys. So how do you prevent it from happening? You take yourself out of the picture. There were times when I definitely thought that was a way out. If you’re stuck in a maze, with no sign of an escape route, eventually you’ll try something extreme. Especially if you have chosen to wander that maze alone.
“And that really is the key. When finally I did start to share my problems, I began to see that the future might not be so bleak. That a world could exist with me in it. Hopefully a me who was better, but nevertheless a version of me who I could live with.”

Bobby Brazier and Dianne Buswell will miss Amanda Abbington ‘a lot’ on Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Bobby Brazier and Dianne Buswell are going to miss Amanda Abbington “a lot” on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, but he is glad she is “doing what she wants” after the actress quit the show.
The ‘EastEnders’ star, 20, and the 34-year-old pro dancer – who are partnered up on the BBC One Latin and ballroom competition – both wished the ‘Sherlock’ star, 49, well after she withdrew from the dancing show this week, and Bobby has plans to have dinner with Amanda in the near future.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’, Dianne said: “We’re going to miss her a lot in the competition. She’s invited Bobby over to dinner.”
Bobby added: “I’m still going to go to hers and have dinner.
“She’s lovely, but I’m glad she’s doing what she wants.”
The pair gushed about the power of meditation for “dealing” with the stresses of life, like competing for the approval of the judging panel – which consists of Shirley Ballas, 63, Anton Du Beke, 57, Craig Revel Horwood, 58, and Motsi Mabuse, 42 – and the public vote.
Bobby said: “Yeah and for dealing with everything, that’s a massive part of my life – every day, all day. I don’t know what else to say but, ‘Guys, meditate!’ ”
Dianne said: “He looks so happy when he’s doing it. He does it a fair bit in rehearsal. It’s like he’s smiling when he’s meditating and it’s lovely to see.”
Bobby continued: “I reckon it helps us with our dancing. I call breaks – she has a weird relationship with the word ‘break’, but I call it a necessary digestive period. Sitting and being with myself and thinking about the dancing, allowing it to seep into my bones, probably helps.”
The ‘EastEnders’ actor joked he has mixed feelings about Dianne during their gruelling rehearsals.
He quipped: “There are times where I don’t like you, there are times where I love you.”
Bobby admitted Dianne – who is dating YouTuber and actor Joe Sugg, 32, who she was partnered with on ‘Strictly’ in 2018 – “cracks the whip” a lot in rehearsals, but said her dedication to dance is “rubbing off” on him.
He said: “I think I’m getting better at working harder. You’re rubbing off on me in certain ways and I’m rubbing off on you in certain ways and I think that’s why last week went so well.”
Dianne said: “We’re starting to understand each other a bit more, I even had to ask him for a break last week and he said, ‘No.’ He’s working really, really hard and it shows because it was a beautiful dance. We loved it so much and long may it continue.”

‘I was starting to look really ugly!’ Joel Dommett went ‘absolutely feral’ filming Survivor

OHMYGOSSIP — Joel Dommett went “absolutely feral” filming ‘Survivor’.
The ‘Masked Dancer’ presenter loved fronting the BBC One version of the adventure programme – which will see 18 contestants fight it out in a series of challenges to win a cash prize – and he didn’t realise how “unclean” he was until his agent visited him on the set.
The 38-year-old comedian told The Sun newspaper: “I grew my beard out until about halfway through, then I realised I was starting to look really ugly, so I thought, ‘I need to trim this back’.
“I speak for a lot of the crew here, we became absolutely feral.
“Every now and again someone new, like my agent, would come to visit and you don’t realise how unclean you are until someone clean arrives … we really enjoyed it.”
Joel – who recently became a father for the first time when his wife model Hannah Cooper gave birth to their son Wylde in September – wanted to shake off his “shiny suit” persona that he has on ‘The Masked Singer’.
He said: “For ‘Masked Singer’ you’ve got the shiny suit, stood next to an Octopus, which is so different from ‘Survivor’ and it’s a huge departure for me.
“I really love that.
“But then again it’s quite hard to be funny when people are punching each other in the face.”
Joel insisted the show’s “endurance challenges” were the best bit of filming.
He said: “My favourites are the endurance challenges, which get bigger as the series goes on.
“But what the contestants put themselves through is insane. No food, no sleep.
“I can’t even hold my coffee cup if I’ve had less than eight hours.
“I would enjoy the physical challenges more than the mind games, I’d fall apart on those.
“You’re trying to get rid of people without p****** them off.
“You’re trying to play three different games at the same time, that’s why viewers get obsessed with it.”

ITV orders another series of Bradley and Barney Walsh’s Breaking Dad

OHMYGOSSIP — ITV has renewed Bradley and Barney Walsh’s ‘Breaking Bad’ for another instalment.
The father-and-son duo will be hitting the road in their RV in Asia to carry out more dare-devil challenges and have quality time together in Japan.
A source told The Sun: “It’s been a busy year for Bradley and Barney.
“As well as working together on the reboot of Gladiators for the BBC, Barney has been living away from home while filming for Casualty, and Bradley is non-stop with The Chase.
“So they’re thrilled to be back together for a sixth series of Breaking Dad, where they genuinely have as much fun as it looks on screen.
“Going on another epic adventure gives them the perfect opportunity to spend some quality time together.
“They have already ticked off a number of dream destinations, but there’s plenty to get stuck into in Japan —and it’s likely to be the wildest series yet.”
However, due to the time it takes to film their travels, it’s likely it won’t hit screens until 2025.
The source added: “Filming is expected to kick off later this year when Bradley and Barney can commit time to being away from the UK together.
“It can take five to six weeks on the road to film the entire Breaking Dad series, so it is thought there’ll be a longer wait for fans – with transmission most likely in 2025.”
So far, Barney has taken his dad to North and South America and various places in Europe to learn about local traditions and take on various challenges, with Bradley, 63, having faced his fear of heights many times.

Strictly’s Giovanni Pernice ‘frustrated’ over Amanda Abbington’s exit

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star Giovanni Pernice was reportedly left feeling “frustrated” over Amanda Abbington’s exit from the show.
The 49-year-old actress quit the BBC One talent series this week for “personal reasons” and a new report suggests her dance partner Giovanni, 33, was left in the dark over her decision but was eventually told in a phone call from producers.
A source told the Daily Star newspaper: “Amanda didn’t tell Giovanni she had decided to quit the show. The first he heard was a call from a producer.

Sofia Coppola almost quit directing after Marie Antoinette

OHMYGOSSIP — Sofia Coppola almost quit directing after making ‘Marie Antoinette’.
The moviemaker has confessed she felt “worn out” after finishing work on the 2006 historical drama – which starred Kirsten Dunst as the Queen of France and Jason Schwartzman as King Louis XVI – and she wasn’t sure if she wanted to continue working in the film business.
She told Rolling Stone magazine: “I had a great time with Kirsten [Dunst] and Jason [Schwartzman], being in Versailles and in Paris at that time. But it was a lot to manage so many people. I was just worn out, and I was just like: ‘Oh, I don’t want to do this anymore’.”
She added: “[‘Marie Antoinette’] was just a hard shoot, and then I was just over it for a minute. My daughter was born, and I was trying to take a pause. But there’s something kind of addictive about making movies. You get an idea, and it bugs you until you do it.”
She was inspired to get back into the director’s chair to work on her 2010 drama ‘Somewhere’ – starring Stephen Dorff as an actor exploring his relationship with his 11-year-old daughter.
Sofia said: “When I met [cinematographer] Harris Savides and we talked about minimal filmmaking, I got inspired to try to make ‘Somewhere’ and go back to two people in a hotel room, and focus on the action and the story.”
She went on to talk about the lacklustre reception ‘Marie Antoinette’ got from critics, admitting she was disappointed for her lead actress.
Sofia explained: “The whole thing about being booed at Cannes, that was exaggerated. I was a little disappointed [with the reception] but more just for Kirsten [Dunst], because I thought she did a great job and we were so proud of the movie. But anyway, I’m glad people are enjoying it now.”

Evicted Big Brother star reveals who is ‘playing a game’ in the house

OHMYGOSSIP — Zak Srakaew thinks Chanelle Bowen is “playing a bit of a game” on ‘Big Brother’.
The 28-year-old model was the second housemate to be eliminated from the revived reality series last week but has now revealed that he thinks his dental therapist Chanelle, 29, is “getting involved” in other people’s business.
He told Metro.co.uk: “Chanelle is playing a bit of a game. She’s just trying not to get involved in people’s business too much so her name doesn’t come up with anything. But at the same time, she was talking about me quite a lot.
