Cailee Spaeny and Priscilla Presley got a ‘spooky’ sign from Elvis Presley

OHMYGOSSIP — Cailee Spaeny and Priscilla Presley received a “spooky” sign from Elvis Presley when they were discussing the ‘Priscilla’ biopic.
The 25-year-old actress portrays the ‘Naked Gun’ star in Sofia Coppola’s new movie and she’s recalled how the 78 year old was stunned to hear her late ex-husband’s song on the radio when they were chatting about the project because it happens so rarely.
Cailee told The Hollywood Reporter: “When I was on the phone with Priscilla one time, we were speaking, and then Elvis came on her radio in the background… She [gasped], ‘Do you hear that?’ And I said, ‘What?’ And she said, ‘He’s on the radio.’
“And then she put the phone up to the speaker, and I think it might’ve been ‘Love Me Tender’ or something like that. It was one of his slower songs.
“And then I said, ‘Does that happen a lot? Does he come up on your radio a lot?’ And she said, ‘No, he doesn’t.’ And then she went, ‘Hmm, that’s a bit strange.’
“So that was a very interesting moment and interaction to have with her, as she took that in and reacted to him on the radio.
“I’m sure that’s something we’ve all thought about: How does she feel when she hears him come up again on the radio or TV?
“So I got that firsthand experience with her, and I definitely felt like she thought that was a bit spooky.”
Cailee was pleasantly surprised by how “gracious” Priscilla was with her time when she was preparing for the role.
She said: “I wanted her to feel safe and not feel like I was digging into this.
“I wanted her to feel like she could go at her own pace in retelling this story, because I knew that it was probably an emotional thing to relive. So I tried to be careful about that. I wanted her to feel like she was in the right hands and that she felt protected.
“So our first meeting actually went around four hours, which I was shocked about, but she was very gracious with her time.
“I just let things go where they naturally went, and really, the biggest thing for me was just being able to sit in front of her and take her in as a person and the way that she holds herself…
“I got really lucky, just having her support and her saying things like, ‘You can call whenever you want. I’m around to talk through anything you need, whether it’s about the movie or anything else. I just want you to know that I’m here.’ ”

‘It would sure make us happy’: Shawn Levy is holding out hope for a Free Guy sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Shawn Levy would be “happy” to make a sequel to ‘Free Guy’.
The 55-year-old director helmed the 2021 video game-set movie starring Ryan Reynolds and Jodie Comer and thinks there is a chance for a follow-up to materialise.
In an interview with Wired, Shawn said: “It’s been floated, it floats, because Ryan and I love that movie. I’d say it’s a big maybe, but boy it would sure make us happy.”
‘Free Guy’ was met with a positive reception when it was released and Levy credited Reynolds as the “engine” that made the picture work.
The ‘Night at the Museum’ director told ComicBook.com: “The truth is, as I said, if you’re lucky enough to direct Ryan Reynolds in a starring role, you get all these secret weapons in addition.
“And the truth is that Ryan has very quirky, weird, inspired musical taste. So whether it was the Mariah Carey song or make your own kind of music, like a deep cut from the 50s or 60s, Ryan sometimes will go, ‘Is this a weird idea or should we try this song?’
“And what I’ve learned with Ryan is don’t say no, at least give it a try because eight out of 10 times, it’s going to be amazing, and it’s going to make it into the movie.”
Ryan previously suggested that he was unsure about making a sequel as he questioned why movies need to be followed up all the time.
Speaking at the Just for Laughs comedy festival earlier this year, the ‘Deadpool’ actor said: “There is the potential to do a sequel to ‘Free Guy’, which would be fun.
“I would love it. But also like, does everything f****** have to be a sequel? I don’t know. Sometimes it’s OK to just do a movie and have it kick ass and then everyone go home.”

‘It was perfect’: Martin Scorsese defends Brendan Fraser’s Killers of the Flower Moon acting

OHMYGOSSIP — Martin Scorsese has defended Brendan Fraser’s performance in ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’.
The Oscar-winning star features in the Western crime drama as W.S. Hamilton – the attorney for William Hale (Robert De Niro) – but has been criticised by viewers for his ‘overblown’ acting, although the legendary director felt that he captured the essence of the character.
Scorsese said at a press conference: “We thought he’d be great for the lawyer and I admired his work over the years.
“He actually came in for a couple of weeks on the picture, particularly when it was in our later shoot. We had a really good time working together, particularly with Leo (DiCaprio). Particularly in the scene where he says, ‘They’re putting a noose around your neck, he’s saving you dumb boy.’
“Really for us, when we heard that… he brought the whole scene down on Leo. It was perfect.”
The ‘Goodfellas’ filmmaker added: “And he had that girth. He’s big in the frame at that time. He’s a wonderful actor and he was just great to work with.”
‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ marks Brendan’s first film role since his award-winning turn in ‘The Whale’ and he previously discussed the enjoyment he got from working with Scorsese.
The 54-year-old star told SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show: “He’s a master cinema creator. He was a regular actor’s director. He moved furniture around himself. He likes to rehearse. He took suggestions and gave credit to the best idea, wherever it came from.
“He’s brilliant. He can solve multiple problems at the same time in an instant. There were four cameras, quadruple coverage, to shoot a court scene that’s happening in real time like an opera.”

Doctor Who’s first Daleks story run being rebooted in COLOUR for show’s 60th birthday

OHMYGOSSIP — Doctor Who’s first Daleks story is being revamped in colour to mark the show’s 60th anniversary.
The 1960s episodes didn’t have an on-screen title, but the serial is known as ‘Doctor Who and the Daleks’, and has now been re-edited, with its seven 25-minute episodes recut into a 75-minute feature length outing.
Phil Collinson, executive producer on ‘Doctor Who’ said about the reboot: “It’s been my absolute pleasure to spend these past 12 months working with such a talented team to breathe new life into this classic adventure – a story that is literally the foundation stone of all that ‘Doctor Who’ has become.
“The original is a masterpiece of 1960s television drama, and this new version stands on the shoulders of the pioneering spirit of 1960s ‘Doctor Who.’”
The new version of the Daleks run will also feature a new score from composer Mark Ayres and fresh sound design.
It will air on BBC Four on 23 November – which marks six decades since the first transmission of ‘Doctor Who’ – and will be available on BBC iPlayer as part of the new ‘Whoniverse’ collection.
The story in its original form will also remain available on BBC iPlayer.
Originally transmitted between December 1963 to February 1964, ‘Doctor Who and the Daleks’ introduced audiences to the Time Lord’s most enduring rivals.
It follows the TARDIS crew led by the first Doctor, played by the late William Hartnell, as they land in a petrified forest on an alien planet where they encounter the Daleks.
New episodes of Doctor Who will also air on BBC One on 25 November 2023.
The first of three special episodes starring David Tennant, 52, as the fourteenth Doctor and Catherine Tate, 53, as his sidekick Donna Noble – while 31-year-old ‘Sex Education’ actor Ncuti Gatwa’s first episode as the fifteenth Doctor will follow over Christmas.

Holly Willoughby ‘being eyed by BBC to front Gladiators reboot: ‘They’re hoping she’ll be the new Ulrika!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Holly Willoughby is reportedly being eyed by the BBC to front their ‘Gladiators’ reboot.
The presenter, 42, quit her long-term job hosting ITV’s ‘This Morning’ in October in the wake of the Phillip Schofield scandal and a stalker scare, and it’s now said Beeb bosses hope she will sign up to become the “new Ulrika Johnson” – host of the original 1990s version of the endurance show, which initially aired on ITV.
A TV source told The Sun about the idea of her joining the current dad-and-son ‘Gladiators’ presenting team of Bradley and Barney Walsh: “The BBC love Brad and Barney, but it’s also been proved Brad and Holly have an amazing dynamic as they featured together on the Beeb show ‘Take Off’.
“Since Holly’s departure from This Morning, lots of channels and broadcasters have been thinking about what she could bring to their shows.
“And as she’s such a big star, she’s a natural fit for a huge entertainment show, which the reboot of ‘Gladiators’ unquestionably is.
“The Beeb will let the dust settle on her ‘This Morning’ exit, and for the first series to run, before kicking off talks. But she’s an obvious choice to become the new Ulrika.”
Bradley, 63, and his boy Barney, 35, are set to come back for the second series of ‘Gladiators’, which will be shot in the summer of 2024.
The first series has already been recorded with the pair at the helm, and will air in January.
Ulrika, 56, co-presented the original ‘Gladiators’ from 1992 to 2000, and Holly narrowly missed out on hosting the BBC reboot of ‘Survivor’.
Holly left ‘This Morning’ after 14 years in October, and her presenting job on ITV’s ‘Dancing on Ice’ is yet to be decided.
Her TV producer husband Dan Baldwin, 48, already has strong ties to the BBC as his company Hungry Bear is producing the ‘Gladiators’ revival.
He is also behind Michael McIntyre’s ‘Big Show’ hit, which has aired on the channel since 2015 and the 47-year-old comic’s ‘The Wheel’ game show which launched in 2020.

F****** hell! Gareth Gates discovers screaming swear words cures his stammer

OHMYGOSSIP — Gareth Gates has discovered howling swear words cures his life-long stammer.
The ‘Pop Idol” runner-up, 39, has spent years battling she speech impediment but accidentally found screaming foul language while filming ‘Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins’ allowed him to speak fluently.
Speaking about his potty-mouthed discovery – inspired by the show hosts’ cursing – he said on the Channel 4 show: “Somebody had to take control because I was like, ‘I’m not losing this challenge.’ I was screaming and out of nowhere I went from this stammering wreck to actually having a voice.
“Who knew shouting at people makes my stammer go away?”
‘Celebrity SAS’ sees Gareth compete in military tasks alongside shamed former Health Secretary Matt Hancock, 45, model Danielle Lloyd, 39, ex-Love Islander Teddy Soares, 28, and Team GB runner Perry Shakes Drayton, 34, with the final episode set to air on Sunday. (05.11.23)
Gareth previously turned down the chance to appear on the show and other reality series including ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ due to his stammer.
He said: “I’ve been asked to do the jungle, to do ‘Big Brother’, and that terrifies me.
“Just being sat around with people conversing, or at least trying to converse, that’s hard for me. This show just really intrigued me.”
Gareth, whose exes include ‘Coronation Street’’ star Faye Brooks, 36, insisted he is determined to emerge the winner of ‘Celebrity SAS’ as he’s still haunted by coming second in ‘Pop Idol’ in 2002, when he lost out to 44-year-old Will Young.
He added: “Twenty years ago I become the nation’s biggest loser. Now I want to prove I am a winner.
“A winner with a potty mouth.”
Gareth revealed during an appearance on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’ appearing on ‘Celebrity SAS’ had initially made his stammer worse.
He added: “They stretch you in every way. My speech, as a result, was hard. Possibly the worst it has ever been.
“You are exhausted, haven’t really had too much sleep and you are really being stretched.”

Derren Brown regrets not asking Hillary Clinton how she felt being beaten by Donald Trump: ‘I was like a little kid!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Derren Brown is haunted by failing to ask Hillary Clinton how it felt having Donald Trump as president.
The TV trickster, 52, met the then-presidential hopeful, 76, and her husband, 77, at one of his Broadway shows in 2016, before she was beaten by Trump, 77, to the US leadership.
He told the Daily Mirror about being uncharacteristically stunned into speechlessness by the Clintons’ presence: “It was amazing. And some time afterwards they invited me out again. And that time I was like a little kid. They couldn’t have been any sweeter and warmer but I didn’t know what to say.
“It was horrible. I don’t have massive social anxiety, or feel I’m dysfunctional with it. It’s not that you don’t want to connect, you do, but there’s something making it difficult.
“It’s so easy afterwards to look back and say, ‘oh, I should have asked her, how does it feel having Trump as president? What’s it like being you?’ But you can’t ask that!”
Derren also admitted he is incredibly introverted despite his job, adding: “A lot of people get into magic because they feel a bit under-confident or shy, because it is about impressing people.
“It’s a great crutch. I’m sure that’s why I got into hypnosis when I was younger.”
Derren is currently co-directing the ‘Unbelievable’ show in London’s West End, and has labelled it “the magic show I’ve always wanted to see”.
He said: “It’s one thing being on stage when things go wrong – I’ve done it for so long, you feel a certain amount of control over it. “It’s definitely worse, it turns out, being in the audience watching something fall apart, feeling responsible for it, and you can’t help or do anything.”
Despite his high-flying career, he says he is now fully domesticated and takes orders from his new boyfriend.
He and his partner share a home and two dogs – beagle basset Doodle and Tibetan terrier Humbug – and Derren said: “I was told quite clearly, ‘It’s bin day,’
“It’s about your different love languages, isn’t it? Cleanliness and tidiness are big things for him, and I love a cluttered room.
“So although sometimes I find it annoying or silly, for him that’s important.”
“So I take the bins out, and my love language is to be given space to paint and read and write, which wouldn’t come intuitively to him.”

Tommy Cannon blasts today’s comedy and lack of double acts: ‘What’s so funny about it?!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Tommy Cannon “doesn’t get” modern comedy and hates today’s lack of double acts.
The 84-year-old was a Saturday night TV stalwart in the 1980s with his late comic partner Bobby Ball, who died in 2020 aged 76 after testing positive for Covid, and said even though he admires acts such as Peter Kay, the days of vaudeville-style stagecraft and earning fame are dead.
Tommy hit out on the ‘Beyond the Title’ podcast: “There are times when me and Bobby, when he was alive bless him, would sit and think, ‘I don’t get it. What’s so funny about that?’
“Comedy now is not what Bob and I knew and what we grew up with.”
Recalling light entertainment’s greatest comedy duos, Tommy added: “Even as a child, double acts were my favourite – Laurel and Hardy, Abbot and Costello, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis.
“Comedy now has no bearing on variety. Some of the stuff is great. I like Jack Whitehall, I love Peter Kay.
“Them sort of lads have still got that old style – you can feel it coming off them.
“When I say old-fashioned I don’t mean it in a bad way.
“Lots of young people love the new comedy and that’s their choice, but it wouldn’t be mine and Bob’s bag.”
Tommy also bemoaned today’s quick-fix fame.
He said about battling to get to the top with Bobby: “We went 15 years before we were on TV. Some people think we were always on television and didn’t do anything else.
“Today is not the same. If you go on a show and win it, the following day you’re a star.
“There was a ladder in our day. It was pubs, working men’s clubs, nightclubs, theatre and television if you were really lucky.
“I don’t think there’s a ladder there any more.”

Alastair Stewart fighting to distinguish shapes as he battles dementia

OHMYGOSSIP — Alastair Stewart is fighting to distinguish shapes as he battles his worsening dementia.
The ex-ITV News host, 71, who has children Alex, 41, Clemmie, 38, Freddie, 30 and Oscar, 25 with wife Sally Ann Jung, 67, began to realise he was ill when he forgot how to do up his tie and button his shirts in the morning before his new job hosting GB News.
He said in an article he wrote for Saga magazine about his fight to now sort out shapes in his mind: “Two other people have been a huge help: a mental health nurse who suggested a white board for the kitchen as an aide-memoire – something plenty of people without dementia find useful – and an occupational therapist sent by the stroke team, who has been brilliant.
“We sit at the kitchen table and do spot-the-odd-one-out exercises, word searches and – the thing I find most difficult – looking at a jumble of shapes on a page, then trying to reproduce them in a drawing on the following page.”
He added about how his wife spotted he could be ill: “Sally said she first knew something was wrong when she asked me to reset our kitchen clock and I couldn’t do it; I couldn’t conceptualise what the hands signified, and I could no longer glance up and say it was ten past 11.”
Alastair also said he has felt “discombobulated” and struggled with remembering simple information.
And the news recalled the moment he was overcome with horror when he learned he had dementia.
He said: “My immediate reaction was terror at those two words, strokes and dementia, although I remained super-calm (while saying a rather strong expletive in my head.)
“Both Sal and I felt like we were in a scene from Emergency Ward 10 or Casualty. As someone who loves language and has made my career from it, there is no getting away from the fact that when a professional looks you in the eye and says you’ve got dementia, it’s a shocker, no matter how much you are prepared for it.”
But the journalist is adamant he won’t let dementia define him.
He said: “Yes, I have dementia, but it’s not the end of the road for me, I’m 71 and I still have a lot to give.
“People sometimes ask if I feel frightened about what the future holds. I don’t, although maybe I should. I’m certainly apprehensive and concerned about the prospect of deterioration.
“But I’m incredibly confident in my family: whatever nature and medicine throws at me, we will tackle it together. I feel so incredibly lucky.”

Sarah Snook gets soppy over husband Dave Lawson: ‘It’s not too big a word to say soulmate!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Sarah Snook has gushed she’s found her “soulmate” in husband Dave Lawson.
The ‘Succession’ actress, 35, was pregnant with the 45-year-old Australian actor’s child while shooting the final season of the hit HBO show, and has now told how she met and fell in love with him during a whirlwind lockdown romance.
She says on the Friday (03.11.23) night episode of ‘The Graham Norton Show’ about secretly marrying Dave in the garden of her home in Brooklyn, New York, in 2021 during the Covid pandemic while they were quarantining together: “We were best friends for years and then got stuck in Lockdown together.
“We fell in love, I proposed, we got married, and had a baby all in a short space of time because I felt like I’d been here before – like it was a repeat of something.
“It’s not too big a word to say ‘soulmate.‘”
Sarah’s soppiness is in stark contrast to her frosty Siobhan ‘Shiv’ Roy character in ‘Succession’.
One of her most famous scenes in the show was in the final series when she rants at her on-screen husband Matthew Macfadyen’s character Tom Wambsgans about the state of their marriage.
She told the cast and crew she was pregnant with Dave’s baby just before shooting the harrowing scene.
But despite huge interest in her take on the series, she was barred from talking about it on Graham’s show due to the SAG-AFTRA strike rules on promoting shows.
Sarah first revealed she had married Dave in an interview with Vogue Australia.
She told the magazine: “At the beginning of the pandemic last year, I got locked down in Melbourne with one of my best mates and we fell in love.
“We’ve been friends since 2014, lived together, travelled together, always excited to see each other, but totally platonic.”
“We’ve just never been single at the same time. It’s been a ride. There’s so much heartache and sadness in the world, but on a micro personal level, I’ve been very fortunate.”
The couple revealed in May they had welcomed their first child as Sarah shared a photograph watching the series finale of ‘Succession’, but they haven’t publicly revealed their baby’s name.
‘The Graham Norton Show’ airs on BBC One on Friday, 3 November at 10.40pm and is available on the BBC iPlayer.

Angela Rippon jokes ‘Strictly curse’ won’t touch her and partner Kai Widdrington

OHMYGOSSIP — Angela Rippon has joked she and her dance partner Kai Widdrington won’t fall prey to ‘the Strictly curse’.
The BBC journalist, 79, said it was obvious there would be no chance of any romantic between her and her 28-year-old professional dance partner due to their age gap.
She told Saga Exceptional about her younger fellow contestants: “I’m old enough to be their grandmother, not their lover.”
She added about Kai: “He is just adorable, I love him.
“I said I wanted someone who is strong because I’m going to be hanging on to him rather a lot.
“And someone with a great sense of humour and patience. Kai has all of those in bucket-loads. I have enormous trust in him.
“He said, ‘Don’t worry. Whatever happens, I’ll catch you.’ Once someone as gorgeous as him says that, you don’t worry about the little things.”
Angela also admitted she was hesitant to agree to appear on ‘Strictly’.
She added: “I did take a long time to think about it. I didn’t give them an answer immediately, because I am aware of the fact that I’m 79.”
The news presenter fears she won’t win this year’s ballroom contest as the “competition is tough”, and is focusing more on proving that age is just a number when it comes to dancing.
She said: “In a way, doing ‘Strictly’ is putting my money where my mouth is by saying it doesn’t matter what age you are, what level of dance you do or what kind, whether it’s ballet, line dancing or ballroom.
“If I can prove that even at 79 you can still dance a cha-cha-cha, that’d be fantastic.”

Dylan evicted from Big Brother after argument with Trish: ‘I can just say sorry!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Dylan Tennant has been evicted from ‘Big Brother’.
The 39-year-old DJ had been taking part in the ITV2 reality show and assumed the role of house chef but fell out with housemates Trish and Noky when they had been paired up for a special task earlier in the week and nominated him for a separate eviction.
Although he survived that eviction, he accused the girls of “black-on-black” crime and admitted that moment is probably why he was voted out by the public on Friday’s (03.11.23) episode.
Speaking to hosts AJ and Will in his first interview following the eviction, he said: “Definitely because I lost my rag the other day. I knew before the nominations. This week, I was getting snappy and there is a flash point there as you can see. I can just say sorry again for my outburst.
On the lead-up to all of this stuff, me and Trish and I were just at each other all the time. We were just off all the way, all the way, all the way.
However, Dylan – who had received nominations from Trish, Yinrun, Matty, Chanelle, Noky, Jenkin, and Henry – is hoping that as the first amputee to take part in the series that he has proven to other amputees that they can do the same if they want to.
“The whole idea of this thing was when I saw the advert was that this would be a good way to do it. I wondered how many amputees had seen that advert and thought ‘How can I do that?’ Hopefully, along with all the madness, I’ve shown that I can give it a go.”
Dylan was the sixth member of the house to be evicted from the series, following on from security officer Paul Blackburn – who was kicked out just moments before in what was the first double elimination of the show – NHS manager Kerry Riches, 40, youth worker Hallie Clarke, 18, model Zak Srakaew, 28, and 50-year-old makeup artist Farida Khalifa.
Just before wrapping up his interview, Dylan revealed that he would like Chinese native Yinrun, 25, to win the series and walk away with the £100,000 prize because of how much she has been through prior to entertaining the house.
He said: “I think I’m gonna go with Yinrun, I think Yinrun has overcome challenges that no one else has. She’s moved from a whole different country and tries to fit in every way possible. And she’s just such a happy person.”

Big Brother’s Paul exits the house to boos from the crowd on double-elimination night

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Blackburn has been evicted from ‘Big Brother’.
The 23-year-old security officer had been taking part in the ITV1 reality show alongside DJ Dylan Tennant, 39, but the pair became the fifth and sixth housemates to be voted out by the viewing public in the first double elimination of the series on Friday (03.11.23) and both were subjected to boos from the studio audience as they exited the house.
Immediately after his elimination, Paul reflected on his argument with Trish Balusa – who had accused him of being a “bully” in the lead-up to his eviction – and explained that he and the 33-year-old were “very similar” in personality.
Speaking to hosts AJ and Will, he said: “I won’t lie, it was overwhelming. I did kind of expect it. I know I’m quite a loud person. When people say you forget the cameras are there, you really really do.
“I think me and Trish are very, very similar. I do like to wind people up and I think that’s part of the game. I could see why last night she thought that but in the house we all did wind each other up.”
During his time in the house, Paul had been seen growing close to dancer Olivia, 23, although he insisted that their relationship is strictly platonic as he reminded viewers that he has a girlfriend.
He said: “On the outside, I have a lot of girlfriends. Like, friends who are girls. I’ve got a girlfriend – she’s sat right there. Olivia was a very similar character to me so we’re just good friends I think. We’re like-minded people.”
After being nominated for eviction by Noky, Yinrun, Trish, and Henry, Paul became the fifth housemate to be evicted from ‘Big Brother’ following on from NHS manager Kerry Riches, 40, youth worker Hallie Clarke, 18, model Zak Srakaew, 28, and 50-year-old makeup artist Farida Khalifa.
Just before wrapping up the interview, Paul revealed that he would like barman Jenkin Edwards, 25, to win the series and walk off with the £100,000 prize.
He said: “I wanna see Jenkin win, a person like that is someone my mum would love!”

Directed by Laura Murphy and written by Ivan Diaz and Meghan Brown, the film follows Lucy’s character, a true-crime fan in Colorado, who is torn between three guys.

‘Trust and love’: Martin Scorsese explains why he regularly works with Robert De Niro

OHMYGOSSIP — Martin Scorsese’s relationship with Robert De Niro is built on “trust and love”.
The legendary director and actor have collaborated for the tenth time on the movie ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ and the filmmaker explained that the bond between the pair dates back to their upbringing.
Martin told HeyUGuys.com: “In the case of Robert De Niro, we were teenagers together, and he’s the only one who really knows where I come from, the people I knew, and that sort of thing. Some of them still alive, he knows them.
“I know his friends, his old friends, and we had a real testing ground in the 70s, where we tried everything and we found that, you know, we trusted each other. It’s all about trust and love. It’s what it is.”
Scorsese has worked with De Niro on classic films such as ‘Taxi Driver’ and ‘Goodfellas’ and explained how the star has never “taken over” any of his projects.
The 80-year-old filmmaker said: “And that’s a big deal, because very often if an actor has a lot of power, and he had a lot of power at that time, an actor could take over your picture. I never felt that.”
Scorsese also revealed that De Niro recommended that he work with Leonardo DiCaprio – who features in ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ and has also become a regular collaborator of the acclaimed filmmaker.
He recalled: “Years later, he told me he worked with this kid, Leo DiCaprio, a little boy, in ‘This Boy’s Life’, and he said, ‘You should work with this kid sometime.’
“It was just casual. But within a line, something like that, a recommendation at the time, I think in the early 90s, is not casual. He rarely gave recommendations.”

Kirsten Dunst recommended Cailee Spaeny to Sofia Coppola

OHMYGOSSIP — Kirsten Dunst recommended Cailee Spaeny to Sofia Coppola.
Kirsten, 41, has been a muse for director Sofia, 52, over the years and when she met Cailee on the set of Alex Garland’s ‘Civil War’, she knew the young actress would be perfect for Coppola’s Priscilla Presley biopic.
Cailee, 25, told The Hollywood Reporter: “I guess Kirsten believed in me and liked what I did [on Alex Garland’s ‘Civil War’], and she is obviously Sofia Coppola’s muse. So, to enter into this film with that as a start was pretty special. It was also surreal in the sense that Kirsten played Marie Antoinette [in Coppola’s ‘Marie Antoinette’ 2006] when she was around 23, and then I did this at 24. So it was funny that our paths crossed in that way. It felt very kismet. So Kirsten having that faith in me and Sofia trusting her was a great way to start this film. And very strange.
“I was pretty shocked that it happened so fast. There was no audition process, really. I just met Sofia for the role. I then saw Kirsten the day that I got it, and it was just really overwhelming and surreal to see her and have it all confirmed. I gave her a hug, and then I started to take on this massive challenge with, genuinely, my dream director. As a teenage girl, she got me into indie films, and one of her films was the first time I ever asked the question of who’s behind the camera. So that was an incredible call to get, but also terrifying. The fear kicked in almost immediately.”
