Gareth Gates opens up on SAS: Who Dares Wins victory: ‘Worst and best thing I’ve ever done!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Gareth Gates “completely forgot” about Matt Hancock when he was on ‘Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins’.
The 39-year-old pop star was the sole winner of the Channel 4 military-style survival series after fighting off competition from the likes of model Danielle Lloyd and former MP Matt – who served as the UK’s health minister during the COVID-19 pandemic – and admitted that after filming began, he very quickly “levelled” with his co-stars and just began to focus on the tasks.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Good Morning Britain’, he said: “The whole experience was probably the hardest and the worst and yet also the best I’ve ever been through. You learn so much in a very hostile environment. They really stretch you in every way, physically, emotionally, and mentally.
“It turned out I was okay in the end and I managed to pass the course, so it was good!
“The great thing about the show is it is a real leveller, there’s politicians in there, there’s pop stars, there’s sports people. Within only a few minutes of the show, you forget who’s who and you focus on the challenges that they’ve asked you to do. It’s so gruelling that you can’t really think ‘Oh, I’m stood next to Matt Hancock here’, you kind of just completely forget.
“It was a great experience.”
The ‘Anyone of Us’ hitmaker -who shot to fame as a teenager when he was runner-up behind Will Young on ITV talent show ‘Pop Idol – suffers from a speech impediment causing him to stammer but even after struggling with it throughout ‘SAS’, has insisted that he will not let it “dictate” him and thinks one of his “greatest achievements” is inspiring others to believe they can do whatever they put their mind to.
He added: “My speech is massively affected if I’m tired, under pressure, stressed.
“It is a very hostile environment and that is the very nature of the show to push you to your limits and as a result of all that, it was hard. They try to break you down to and as a result of that, I’m much more confident now.
“I got quite a lot out of the show. I think one of my greatest achievements from ‘Pop Idol’ and now ‘SAS’ is that you can have an affliction and not let it dictate who you are. You are able to achieve whatever you want in life, you just have to be strong. Parents who have kids who stammer, I just say to be patient, give them as much time as they can. Eventually, they will find a way through.”

Danny Dyer’s TV show cancelled after just one series

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Dyer’s game show has been cancelled after just one series.
The 46-year-old actor – who quit his long-running role as Mick Carter in BBC soap opera ‘EastEnders’ towards the end of last year – hosted ‘Cheat’ on Netflix from March with ‘Ted Lasso’ star Ellie Taylor, 40, though an insider has now claimed that the programme has already run its course and no more episodes will be produced.
The source told The Sun newspaper’s TVZBiz column: “Danny was great as host, as was Ellie, but Netflix thought one series was just about right.
“It didn’t pick up a big following and will hardly go down in game show folklore. He enjoyed making the series, especially banking the pay cheque.”
The show saw contestants – who are branded as “rascals” by Danny – try to bluff their way through an increasingly difficult quiz in a chance to get their hands on a cash prize of £50,000.
At the time of ‘Cheat’’s announcement, the actor was thrilled to host the show and took to Twitter (now known as X) to share his excitement.
In a post, he wrote: “This is a great new series and there’s no quiz show better suited for me; expect enormous wins, loads of slippery people cheating and banter with the one and only, Ellie Taylor.”
His co-star chimed in and replied: “I’m so excited to join Cheat and the Netflix family.
“Cheat has all the elements I want in a quiz show; great questions, unashamed cheating and Danny Dyer calling me ‘Treacle’ at least once per episode. I can’t wait to get started!”
‘Cheat’ has not been the only TV project the actor has worked on since leaving the BBC soap – he also appeared on the Channel 5 drama ‘Heat’, as well as moving over to the streaming service Disney+ for the series “Rivals’, which could see a release date next year.
The TV star insisted he had to keep working to ensure he fulfils his promise to leave his dog Debbie £500,000 in his will.
He said: “I feel I need to give her something or get some proper carers for her, give her a flat with a carpet. Give her whatever she wants out of guilt. Also, it would wind my missus up.”

Jeremy Allen White doubted he could become Kerry Von Erich for The Iron Claw

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy Allen White didn’t think it would be “physically possible” to transform into Kerry Von Erich for ‘The Iron Claw’.
The 32-year-old star features as the Texas Tornado in Sean Durkin’s movie about the cursed Von Erich wrestling dynasty and feared that he wouldn’t be able to replicate his alter ego’s physique for the picture.
Speaking during a New York City Q and A for the flick, Jeremy said: “I knew I couldn’t get as big as Kerry. I just don’t think it was physically possible for me.
“I’m a pretty little guy, but I tried. I don’t think it’s possible for any human on the planet.”
The ‘Bear’ star continued: “There is this story I love about Schwarzenegger. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Kerry were in the same room once, and Kerry popped his shirt off and Arnold Schwarzenegger himself was too nervous to take his shirt off around Kerry. That’s how big this man was. We were all trying.”
White also confessed that he was intimidated sharing scenes with co-star Zac Efron, who underwent an astonishing transformation to depict Kerry’s older brother Kevin Von Erich.
He quipped: “Yeah, I didn’t want to stand near Zac. I saw him and went, ‘Can Harris (Dickinson) stand next to him?’
“No, I mean, Zac looked so amazing and I think, yeah, just being around him was a motivator for me to eat more, train more.”
Jeremy was a dancer during his school days and noted that it has similarities to wrestling.
The ‘Shameless’ actor said: “I think there is a dance component in the combat sport.
“You just get a sense of your body in space. I think that that’s a really important part of professional wrestling, your understanding of body and the space and to not hurt yourself and to not hurt others.”

‘An obvious thing to do’: Sir Ridley Scott on the slow evolution of Gladiator 2

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Ridley Scott says that making ‘Gladiator 2’ became “an obvious thing to do”.
The 85-year-old filmmaker is helming a long-awaited sequel to his 2000 historical epic and explained how he was initially tentative to revisit Ancient Rome.
Asked what interested him in making the follow-up, Ridley told Deadline: “Well, economically, it makes sense. That always begins there.
“I thought the (first) film was, as it were, completely satisfactory, creatively complete, so why muck with it, right? But these cycles keep going on and on, they repeat globally for the last 20 years. It started to spell itself out as an obvious thing to do, and that’s how it evolved.”
Paul Mescal plays the lead role of Lucius in the upcoming movie – set for release in November 2024 – and Ridley decided to cast the star after seeing him in the hit TV series ‘Normal People’.
The ‘Blade Runner’ director explained: “I’m always looking for someone, something new and fresh. I mean, fresh is terribly important. So they’re not carrying… baggage is a terrible word for what they’ve done before, because it’s great stuff, but you will remember he just did this character already.
“I watched this show called ‘Normal People’. It’s unusual for me, but I saw one and thought, that’s interesting. These actors are really good, I watched the whole goddamn show and thought, damn.
“So this came up at a time when I need a 23-year-old, 24-year-old to take up the mantle of Lucius. And I just said, you want to do it? He said, yeah.”
Ridley explained that it was harder casting Mescal, 27, as Lucius than choosing Russell Crowe to play the heroic Maximus Decimus Meridius in the original film.
He said: “It’s 20 years on. That was harder than casting Russell as Maximus, that was more obvious.”

I’ve lost so much weight on Strictly Come Dancing, says Ellie Leach

OHMYGOSSIP — Ellie Leach has lost “a lot of weight” since she joined ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 22-year-old actress has been working tirelessly alongside Vito Coppola, her professional dance partner, on the BBC show, and Ellie admits that she’s seen a change in her body over recent weeks.
She told OK! magazine: “I’ve lost a lot of weight.
“You’re training so much. I still need to work on my fitness levels but even the dance we’re doing this week, I wouldn’t have been able to do three weeks ago.”
Ellie has never been a fitness fanatic – but she’s fully embraced the ‘Strictly’ challenge.
She said: “I’ve never really been into physical activity or going to the gym and stuff like that.
“But I’ve always loved watching people dance. So to be able to learn how to do it now, it’s amazing. My body and my mindset are changing so much each day. I don’t know how much weight I’ve lost but I can feel myself getting stronger, which I think is great.”
Ellie has also enjoyed the glitz and glamour of ‘Strictly’.
The actress admitted that the make-up and costumes departments have helped her to feel “ten times better” about herself.
Ellie – who is best known for playing Faye Windass on ‘Coronation Street’ – explained: “The costumes and the hair and make-up are my favourite part about ‘Strictly’ and always have been, even when I watched it when I was younger.
“The fact that I get to try all these different make-up looks and the costumes, it makes you feel ten times better. When you put the costume on, everything changes and it all really comes together.”

Noel Edmonds supports new Deal or No Deal host Stephen Mulhern

OHMYGOSSIP — Noel Edmonds sent his support to Stephen Mulhern after he was announced as the new host of ‘Deal or No Deal’.
The 74-year-old broadcaster hosted the show during its original run, and he’s now offered his support to Stephen, who is presenting the long-awaited reboot.
Stephen, 46, told The Sun newspaper: “There’s just so many where I think, ‘When people see this, it’s going to be like a scene from Gogglebox’, because you just go, ‘Oh no!’.
“I tell you what, I also worried about what Noel was going to think. And then he sent a message and he just said, ‘You’re going to have the best time and you’re perfect for the job’, and so that was very humbling to hear.”
Asked how he would feel if the reboot gets panned, Stephen replied: “I’ll be mortified, because it doesn’t deserve to be.”
‘Deal or No Deal’ is set to return later this month. However, the show’s prize fund has seen a significant drop.
A source recently told The Sun newspaper: “It’s a strange sign of the times, but times are tough for ITV just as it is for all other companies across the country, and £100,000 is still a lot of money these days.
“Plus, ‘Deal or No Deal’ was never about the winnings, it was always about the game and the camaraderie between the contestants, with some happy to walks away with nothing … or just 1p in some cases.”
Despite this, Stephen previously hailed ‘Deal or No Deal’ as “one of the greatest shows of all time”.
He said in a statement: “It looks so simple but it’s an incredibly compelling game for both those playing and the viewers watching at home.
“It’s one of the greatest shows of all time and to be the new host is an honour!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Dr. Ranj Singh claims that Holly Willoughby will bounce back from her shock TV exit and return to screens.
The former ‘This Morning’ host, 42, was left shaken after her close friend Philip Schofield, with whom she hosted the ITV programme with since 2009, left the show earlier this year once his affair with a young colleague came to light. She then left TV completely after an alleged plot to kidnap and murder her was foiled. However, the doctor told The Daily Star he does not think that was the end of the line for Holly.
He said: “Of course she will come back to TV, she’s too good not to.

“Everything that’s happened with her has been really tough.

“It’s that thing isn’t it … I still know some of the team obviously, and Holly is a dream partner to work with.
“I think there’s a right time and a right place.
“But, you know, I stood in for Philip on Dancing on Ice before when he had Covid and that was an amazing night.”

The 35-year-old reality star started dating Stella Turian in September 2022, but he was left “heartbroken” when they spit earlier this month and now his ex-girlfriend and former ‘TOWIE’ co-star is said to be concerned about his mental health.
A source told OK! Magazine: “Lydia and [her mother] Debbie are obviously very concerned and rallying around him.
He’s been back on track for a while now, but when something bad happens, he can go back to his old ways. He’s been through so much, and they’re worried he might turn to old habits after doing so well.”
Lydia, who had been in an on-and-off-again relationship with James since 2008, finally called it quits with him in 2016.
However, the pair have managed to remain on good terms, with Lydia telling New! magazine that she was “proud” of how he had achieved sobriety amid his appearance on Channel 4’s “Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins’, and that she will “always be grateful for what he did” for her life in general.
James -who also famously dated fellow ‘TOWIE’ legend Gemma Collins – reciprocated and said: “[I am] lucky to have her in my life and for us to be such close friends.”
Reflecting on his recent stint on the Channel 4 military-style show, James admitted that he was “completely done” and felt that he had to leave the series after “pushing [himself] to the limit.”
He told OK! Magazine”I know in my heart that was the right time to leave because I had given it 110 per cent and I had nothing left, I was completely done. I know I was done, physically and mentally. “I got beasted and I was just a broken man, and I’ll be honest with you, even all that I’ve been through I’ve never really cried or been a crier but I basically had a breakdown and I cried like I’ve never cried before, I broke down.”

The former ‘Bad Education’ star is currently competing on the BBC’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ alongside professional partner Nikita Kuzma but because he started his career playing the title role in ‘Billy Elliot: The Musical’, he felt he had to clear up rumours that his co-stars were were becoming “frustrated” that they were “completely unable to compete with him” due to his dancing background.
He told Closer UK: “It’s been an emotional roller coaster. If you read into too many things and then you’re worried about what other people think of you, that’s like noise.
“You’ve got to concentrate on the positive instead. I’m doing it for me, and for those who want to be inspired and watch us put on a show.
“I’m just trying to have a slay vibe about all of this now.”
The ‘Beautiful People’ actor did however admit that he has found the training for the BBC show “challenging”, but is elated that he has got a “cute” body through all of the intense dance rehearsals.

Sir David Jason reveals how Only Fools and Horses accidentally ‘cracked the code’ of TV success

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir David Jason thinks ‘Only Fools and Horses’ only managed to “crack the code” of success after being given a second series.
The 83-year-old actor starred as Del Boy in the classic sitcom – which ran sporadically from 1981 until 2003 – but explained that the first run of episodes hadn’t received many viewers and the only reason they were given a second chance was because channel bosses were “desperate” to fill the screens with something.
Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine, he said: “Something happened with the television strike or whatever and they were desperate for something to go on. So we had done a series and it went out. Three people and their dog watched it, and that’s all it was. But because they were desperate for something to fill the airwaves, they grabbed hold of ‘Only Fools and Horses’ again, and put that on again. That thing. Because it came on a second time, people then, as I always say, you’ve got to give it time. So because of that, we managed to crack the code!”
Meanwhile, David has penned ‘The Twelve Dels of Christmas’ which looks back on life on set of the Christmas specials of ‘Only Fools and Horses’ and explained how the “magic” of it all started with the series’ creator John Sullivan, who died in 2011,
He said: “The credit really goes to the writer, John Sullivan. He’s underplayed a lot when we do interviews because the creation, the magic of it all starts with the written word. He really was a one-off.
“Once you get that inspiration, it comes from the written word, that inspires you as someone who has trod the boards for a long time. It does galvanize you into being creative in that sort of way. ”

Hunter Schafer says The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes was a ‘challenge’

OHMYGOSSIP — Hunter Schafer says ‘The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’ was “a challenge”.
The 24-year-old ‘Euphoria’ actress – who shot to fame playing Jules Vaughn in the HBO teen drama – stars in the prequel movie as Tigris, the companion of Panem President Coriolanus Snow (Tom Blyth), and as she’s just starting out in her acting career joining the blockbuster franchise was a big deal.
She said: “Tigris kind of feels like the first character piece I’ve really done that’s not like a teenage girl who is kind of like one step away from who I am.
“It was like a challenge for me.”
“I’m still new to acting.”
It’s a full-circle moment for Hunter, as she was a ‘Hunger Games’ nerd at school.
She shared: “I was a huge fan when I was in middle school… to the point where I was like doing fan art and I had the Mockingjay pin.
“It means the world to me that I got to kind of contribute in some way.”
Meanwhile, Hunter is eyeing another movie role, the titular part in the live-action ‘The Legend of Zelda’ movie.
After it was confirmed that the classic Nintendo game – which follows a young boy named Link trying to save a kidnapped princess from an evil force – is in the works, the ‘Cuckoo’ star has once again said it’s a character she’s keen to take on.
She told Variety: “That would be so cool.
I love the game, personally. I played it as a kid and I still play it now. Who knows! That would be pretty cool.”
It’s not the first time she has expressed how much she loves the game and would love to portray the elf-like Hylian princess of the kingdom of Hyrule.
She told ‘Entertainment Tonight’ last year: “That would be cool. Like an elf? Yeah. I mean, I played that video game a bunch when I was a kid, that’s such a good game.”

Marvel-lous news! Pedro Pascal ‘in talks to play Reed Richards in Fantastic Four’

OHMYGOSSIP — Pedro Pascal is said to be in talks with Marvel Studios about playing Reed Richards in ‘Fantastic Four’.
Discussions are said to be heading in the right direction for Pascal to land the role of Richards, whose alter-ego is Mr. Fantastic, multiple sources close to the talks have revealed.
Insiders also told Deadline that scheduling is “still being worked out” to enable Pascal to appear in the project and his other movies and TV shows, which include ‘Gladiator 2’ and HBO series ‘The Last of Us’.
Sources close to the ‘Fantastic Four’ project also claimed to SlashFilm that Pascal had “signed on the dotted line” and the deal “should be announced soon”.
But it’s not yet known who will play the other members of the Fantastic Four, Sue Storm (The Invisible Woman), Johnny Storm (The Human Torch), and Ben Grimm (The Thing).
This comes after John Krasinski previously admitted he would love to play Mr. Fantastic in a reboot of ‘Fantastic Four’.
In a 2020 interview with Total Film magazine, Krasinski – who famously lost out on the role of Captain America to Chris Evans back in 2010 – said: “I would love to be in the Marvel Universe. I love those movies because they’re fun, but I also think they’re really well done. And certainly, a lot of my friends are in those movies.
“I have no idea what [Marvel] are thinking. But if they are considering me for Mr. Fantastic, continue to consider me because I would love it.”
But Krasinski has ruled himself out of being at the helm of a Marvel blockbuster in the future.
He laughed: “Oh man, directing one of those things? I don’t think I’m your guy. But if I was to act in one? I’d have so much fun.”

‘She’ll be TV gold!’ Rebekah Vardy ‘wanted by Celebrity Big Brother bosses’

OHMYGOSSIP — Rebekah Vardy is said to be at the top of ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ bosses’ wanted list.
ITV confirmed last week that the celebrity version of the reality TV show will make a comeback next year, and producers are hoping to land their number one target Rebekah.
A TV insider told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “Rebekah is the show’s No1 target, there’s no getting away from it.
“Bosses know she’ll be perfect fodder for the show and that she won’t hold back on saying what she thinks.”
Producers believe former ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ star Rebekah will be “TV gold”, especially if she talks about and Coleen and Wayne Rooney.
Coleen, 37, was sued for libel by ex-England footballer Jamie Vardy’s wife Rebekah, 41, after she accused her of leaking details of her private life to the press, in a feud that was dubbed “Wagatha Christie” by the media.
But Coleen won the court case, and claimed she had always “stuck to [her] truth” and got the verdict she wanted in court.
The insider added: “They also hope she won’t be slow coming forward on saying how she feels about Coleen and husband Wayne.
“She will be TV gold.”
In October 2022, Rebekah was ordered to pay £1.5 million towards Coleen’s legal costs after their libel trial earlier that year.
Following Rebekah’s 2017 stint on ‘I’m A Celebrity’, she competed on the 13th series of ‘Dancing on Ice’ in 2021.
Last week, ITV confirmed ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ will be back in 2024 – following the success of ‘Big Brother’ returning last month and airing on the channel for the first time – and it will be followed each night by ‘Celebrity Big Brother: Late and Live’, which will give viewers an additional hour of exclusive content.
Paul Mortimer, Director of Reality Commissioning and Acquisitions and Controller, ITV2 and ITVBe, said: “The reception from our viewers to Big Brother’s return has been fantastic. We’re therefore thrilled to announce that we’ll be bringing our very own celebrity edition to ITV1 and ITVX next year. Casting is underway to find a new batch of famous faces who are sure to provide more iconic and unmissable BB moments.”
