Ariana DeBose reveals why she ‘cried like a baby’ when she was cast in Wish

OHMYGOSSIP — Ariana DeBose “cried like a baby” when she was cast in ‘Wish’.
The 32-year-old actress had just enjoyed a star turn in Steven Spielberg’s 2021 remake of ‘West Side Story’ when she was tapped to voice the leading role of Asha in the upcoming musical animation and explained that the project made her so emotional because she had grown up on movies made by Disney.
She told MovieWeb: “They came to me shortly after ‘West Side Story’ had premiered, and I hadn’t really won anything. I was just excited that ”West Side Story’ had come out, and it looked like I was going to have the opportunity to make more work.
“Then they called, and Chris Buck [the director] was like, ‘We want to make this movie with you.’ I was like, amazing, what is it? Because they hadn’t really told me, but then they explained what the story was going to be, and I cried like a baby because I was a Disney kid growing up.”
Ariana went on to add that her character was inspired by other Disney Princesses but also believes that the role sits “in her own realm” and also has the potential to lead in a whole new generation of characters for the franchise.
She said: “I can tell you definitively that so many of our previous Disney princesses and heroines inspired me while in the booth. I could hear the echoes of Mulan and Cinderella. I would go, ‘Alice would have said that’ or ‘Raya, there you at girl!’ I drew inspiration from so many of the characters from the canon. I also think Asha sits in her own realm. I think she ushers us into an entire new chapter of Disney characters. I don’t know if they will be princesses or heroines.”

‘I fell headlong into it’: Nina Jacobson was desperate to get The Hunger Games into cinemas

OHMYGOSSIP — Nina Jacobson “couldn’t bear the thought” of someone else bringing ‘The Hunger Games’ to the big screen.
The 58-year-old film executive returns as a producer on the prequel movie ‘The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’ and spoke of her desperation to bring Suzanne Collins’ novels to life when she first discovered the material.
Speaking to HeyUGuys.com, Nina said: “When I first read the original book, a young colleague of mine gave it to me, I fell headlong into it.
“I couldn’t bear the thought of somebody else making it into a movie.
“I felt that she had pulled off this high-wire act as an author and that it would really require a lot of care and discipline to make sure that the movie lived up to the book.
“It felt risky, and because it felt risky, it felt exciting. We’ve tried to keep taking those risks as we’ve made subsequent movies in the franchise.”
The new flick blends younger stars such as Rachel Zegler with seasoned actors including Peter Dinklage and Viola Davis – with Jacobson experiencing the joy of working with performers on both ends of the scale.
She recalled: “We started with the youngsters for the arena shoots in Poland because we had certain dates that we could have that location.
“They got on great and we were having a tonne of fun and then I think everyone was a little intimidated when the grownups were gonna show up.
“When the grownups arrived, they were so into it. They were primed, they were present. We would all watch them in admiration.”

The Chase star Jenny Ryan sees her co-stars as a family: ‘We’re not competitive!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jenny Ryan doesn’t compete with her fellow Chasers.
The 41-year-old quizzer is best known as part of one of the regulars on the ITV1 show ‘The Chase’ and often sees off competition from members of the public but admitted that she and her co-stars Anne Hegerty, Darragh Ennis, Shaun Wallace, Paul Sinha, and Mark Labbett are more of a “family” than rivals on set.
She told the Daily Express’ Saturday Magazine: “We’re not super competitive. We see each other as a family. I’m very competitive with my family! I do the odd pub quiz but it’s a lose-lose situation. If I go in and win, everyone rolls their eyes, and if I go in and lose, everyone says, “She’s not that bright!”
‘The Chase’ has been fronted by former ‘Coronation Street’ actor Bradley Walsh since it first aired in 2009 and Jenny compared the TV star to late TV legend Bob Monkhouse.
She said: “I watched a lot of Bob Monkhouse when I was a kid. He was a great archetype of a game show host keeping it together, and I think Bradley Walsh is our current equivalent. It is not just coming up with the quick-fire gags, but putting everyone at ease and controlling the format and speed. Brad’s a master at what he does.”
Jenny was then asked if she had any “guilty pleasures” and admitted that she is a fan of fellow ITV game show ‘Tipping Point’ – which is hosted by ‘Good Morning Britain’ presenter Ben Shephard – because she enjoys watching the arcade-style coin machine on the programme.
She said: “‘Tipping Point’. I think watching the machine is soothing!”

Sarah, Duchess of York, to guest edit This Morning

OHMYGOSSIP — Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, is to present ‘This Morning’ on Monday (20.11.23).
The 64-year-old author – who was previously married to Prince Andrew – will take a seat on the famous sofa alongside Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary, but is also guest editing the programme and will oversee segments including how to rehome a dog, the importance of defibrillators, skin protection, and an interview with Sir Cliff Richard.
She said in a statement: “I have appeared on ‘This Morning’ before, but this time I am coming back in a very different role. I love live TV and am an enormous fan of the show, and the whole team is always lovely to deal with.
“I’m looking forward to being there for the whole morning, and thrilled to be guest editing the show which will mean getting to explore some topics I’m passionate about.”
And ‘This Morning’ bosses are “delighted” to have the duchess on board.
Editor Martin Frizell said: “We are all delighted Sarah, Duchess of York wanted to come back here and I’m very happy for her to make some of my decisions on Monday.
“She has a great understanding of the show and how television works and I feel viewers will be really interested in the running order she is putting together.”
The ‘Her Heart for a Compass’ writer appeared on ‘This Morning’ back in March, and then-host Holly Willoughby asked if she’s like to return at some point for a “love phone-in”.
She said at the time: “Holly, I would love to do that maybe when you’re back from your annual leave and the Easter holidays!
“But there’s no question, that is right on topic. We love to love.”

Danielle Harold ‘nervous’ about I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

OHMYGOSSIP — Danielle Harold is “very nervous” about taking part in ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’.
The 31-year-old actress – who left ‘EastEnders’ after 15 years earlier this year – has gone into “survival mode” and is simply focused on “getting through” the next few weeks, rather than thinking about potential romance or what she’ll look like in camp.
She told MailOnline: “I’m very nervous. It’s the unknown I think. It’s different every year so I’m very anxious…
“I know I will not be doing the classic Myleene Klass shower picture – that won’t be me.
“I’ll probably be crouching on the floor of the shower because the water will be cold. That whole sexy shower image, that’s not me.
“I’m in full survival mode, me. I’m literally I’ve not going in thinking about glam looks or anything. I’m just thinking, survive – get through, breathe through it.”
Danielle is planning to offer to clean the camp toilet because she is “scared” to get involved with cooking as she knows meals have often been the cause of tension in previous years.
She said: “I’m going to try and stay away from cooking. I’m scared to get involved in the cooking, I know it’s always a problem.
“I’m going to offer up myself to do the dunny so hopefully, I don’t have to cook. I feel like no one wants to do the dunny, so that will be my little job – I don’t want to go near the food I’ll be too scared.”
And the actress hopes the show will let people get to know who she really is after so long playing Lola Pearce-Brown.
She said: “I’ve been playing Lola for 15 years now. A long time so it’s nice to do something that is me for a change.
“So nice to meet new people and hear new stories. I’m really excited I think maybe people don’t know what to expect, or who I am really.
“I’m very bubbly and chatty. I love chats and listening to people’s stories and asking questions, I love a question. So looking forward to getting in there and getting to know people.”
When it comes to the Bushtucker Trials, there’s already some challenges Danielle will find tough.
She explained: “I’m a bit claustrophobic. Small spaces I’m not very good at. Small spaces with bugs in – I’m not going to be great with those.”

Brie Larson teases her Marvel future

OHMYGOSSIP — Brie Larson thinks there is “so much more to go” for Captain Marvel.
The 34-year-old actress recently reprised her role as Carol Danvers and her superhero alter ego for a fourth time in ‘The Marvels’ – in which her character teamed up with Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) and Captain Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) – and she has no plans to say goodbye to the Marvel Cinematic universe (MCU) any time soon.
She told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “I think there is still so much inside of Carol.
“I feel like getting to be on this team just cracked her open in a way that she hadn’t been and I really loved that for her.”
Brie particularly enjoyed seeing more of Carol’s relatable side and having her open up to making connections with other people.
She said: “You are like, wait, oh of course she would wear Crocs.
“I just loved her letting the shoulders drop a little bit, and not need to feel like all the responsibility was on her. So I think that there is just so much more to go.
“She is just a great character to continue to grow with. It’s like, as I am growing she is growing.”
Although Brie isn’t confirmed to appear in any future MCU projects at present, the Oscar-winning star teased there are definitely some plans in the works.
She said: “I don’t want Marvel to come for me but there is something.
“There is definitely something, to answer your question, that I would want to say, but I am not going to so.”
Meanwhile, Elizabeth can also currently be seen in Apple TV+ series ‘Lessons in Chemistry’, which she also executive produced, and she found working behind the scenes to be “challenging in a way that was absolutely thrilling.”
She added: “I just loved every second of it. I couldn’t stop thinking about it anyway so it was like, might as well channel it all into getting this to be the best it could be.
“But there were times that I was in bed and I had like, TV and laptop and iPad, and they all had different episodes on it and I was like, well, this is maybe a bit too much.”

Michael B Jordan to direct Creed IV

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael B. Jordan is set to direct ‘Creed IV’.
The 36-year-old actor made his debut feature film behind the camera with ‘Creed III’ – which grossed more than $275 million worldwide after being released in March – and the film’s producer Irwin Winkler has confirmed that a follow-up is in the works and bosses want to get the star back at the helm because he did such a good job last time.
Speaking at Deadline’s Contenders Film: Los Angeles event on Saturday (18.11.23), Irwin said: “We are planning to do ‘Creed IV’ right now.
“We have a really good story [and] a really good plot. We got a little delayed because of the strikes, but about a year from now we’re going into pre-production.”
Confirming Michael – who plays the lead role of Adonis Creed in the franchise – will be back to direct, he added: “He will be. He did such a great job — he was comfortable with the camera.”
Producing partner Elizabeth Raposo added: “[We’re] just glad that this one worked and people want to see more.”
The movie series is a spin-off from the ‘Rocky’ films and has so far grossed over $663 million globally in total.
And Irwin praised the franchise’s “beautiful vision” for keeping links to the ‘Rocky’ world while also being a “wholly new and different experience”.
He said of ‘Creed III’: “Michael and the creative team had the beautiful vision from the start to create a wholly new and different experience for this movie.
“It had to be firmly cemented in what we all [know] the Creed and Rocky movies for … it had to have great action, boxing, but we also really examined what kind of movie we were making.
“And a lot of that, those early days with Michael were spent crafting how we were looking at the Damian character, which is why I think everyone responded to the depth, not only on the page, but also on the screen. You spend half the movie having deep sympathy for him and understanding his vulnerability.”

‘It’s inevitable you’d take something home with you ‘: Natalie Portman couldn’t play a serial killer

OHMYGOSSIP — Natalie Portman couldn’t play a serial killer.
The 42-year-old actress – who won an Oscar for her outstanding performance in now-husband Darren Aronofsky’s psychological horror ‘Black Swan’ – tries her best not to take her work home with her.
She told Radio Times magazine: “I don’t do things that are painful. I can’t starve myself for a role;
I can’t cause myself pain. I’m the opposite of that. I get acupuncture, I go swimming. I like to cook. I like hanging out with my friends! When I’m not working, I need those days where I just stare at the wall for a few hours and refresh by doing absolutely nothing. I can relax, but when I work, I want to do the best job.”
The ‘May December’ star also has no time for anyone being “unkind” on a film set.
She continued: “There’s a discipline to being a good person while you’re working.
“If there’s someone being unkind on set, it takes me out of my focus. I have no patience for that.
So that’s part of the discipline, too. Being kind and kind.
To see directors who do that – because there is a great deal of stress – is remarkable.”
Asked if she would ever consider method acting, where the actor emphasises on a deeply emotional level with the characters they are playing, Natalie replied: “If you did, I don’t understand how you would play a serial killer!
“It’s inevitable you’d take something home with you … that’s not even a choice.
“That’s why you have to be careful about what kind of roles you choose, because it affects you definitely, but I just don’t really understand the idea of becoming your character.
“That would get rid of half the characters you could play, because it would be illegal!”

Fred Sirieix plans to use Gordon Ramsay’s foul-mouthed advice in I’m A Celebrity… camp

OHMYGOSSIP — Fred Sirieix’s friend Gordon Ramsay told him not to “take any s***” on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’.
The ‘First Dates’ star is taking part in the tough jungle survival show and ahead of him going into camp, he got a call with some blunt advice from his straight-talking pal – who he appeared with alongside Gino D’Acampo on their ‘Road Trip’ series – and he’s planning to take it on board.
He told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: “Gordon called me. He told me, ‘Fred don’t take any s***’. That’s what he said.
“I am a very honest and truthful person and I think that’s the way to go and that’s the way I live my life. I think that dealing with conflict is something that’s difficult for any human being and people are not so sometimes prepared to deal with conflict.”
Fred will be joined in camp by the likes of Nigel Farage, Nella Rose, Jamie Lynn Spears and Grace Dent and while the 51-year-old star has “no idea” what it will be like spending so much time with a group of strangers, he’s ready for anything.
He said: “I have no idea of what it’s going to be like to live with these people, what they’re going to be like, but I am very ready mentally and physically. I cannot be more ready than I am. You don’t know what he’s going to be like until you get there.”
And the Frenchman is in it to win it.
He said: “I’d never undertake anything without wanting to win I am naturally very competitive.
“Of course you want to win and you want to win in the right way and have fun while you’re doing it. And you do your best and then you just go for it.”
‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’ starts on ITV1 and ITVX on Sunday 19 November at 9pm.

‘It’s liberating’: Anita Rani is loving being single

OHMYGOSSIP — Anita Rani is “living [her] best life” since splitting from her husband.
The ‘Countryfile’ presenter’s 14-year marriage to Bhupi Rehal ended earlier this year but the 46-year-old star insisted there is no “shame” in being single again and she’s feeling “empowered” because she’s able to do whatever she wants.
She told Fabulous magazine: “It’s liberating that people know that I’m single now.
“Not everything works out and things come to their natural conclusion, and that is absolutely fine.
“There’s no shame attached to being single and living your best life in your 40s.
“I want all women to know that I’m on the other side now.
“There is light, and the light is good!
“I’m single, I’m child-free, I’m in my mid-40s and I have never felt better, sexier, more powerful or more excited about the future.
“I’m exercising my choice to do what the hell I want. And that feels very empowering. I’m stepping into chapter two.
“It means being unapologetic. It means not being afraid to own my space.”
Anita has gone through an “awakening” and she’s ready to defy expectations and have a lot of fun.
She said: “Liberating is the word. Learning about my history, getting older and writing a memoir makes you think about your life.
“Let’s call it an ‘awakening’. A big change has happened in my life, and it’s not happened for me to then revert back to old habits.
“So I’ve now got an opportunity to live my life the way I want to. I’m not going to do what’s ‘expected’ of me.
“I’ve grown up with warrior women who’ve had to put up with lives where they’ve not had much choice.
“So I feel very lucky to be the master of my own destiny.
“I get to pick and choose what I want to do now, so I’m booking flights, meeting up with friends, going out and soaking up art and culture.
“I want to go away at Christmas – I’m not sure where yet, but I love the idea of just sticking a pin in a map.
“I can go wherever I want.
“It feels like a new lease of life and a very powerful time. Bring it on.”
But the ‘Women’s Hour’ host has no plans to go looking for love again just yet.
Asked if she’s back on the dating scene, she replied: “Let’s just say I’m happy being single at the minute!”

Angela Rippon is eighth celeb to be booted off ‘Strictly Come Dancing’: ‘I’ve had the time of my life’

OHMYGOSSIP — Angela Rippon is the eighth celebrity to be kicked off ‘Strictly Come Dancing 2023’.
The 79-year-old broadcaster – who made history as the show’s oldest participant when this year’s line-up of the BBC One show was announced – was dropped on Sunday (19.11.23) night’s results show after she faced actor Bobby Brazier, 20, in the dance-off.
When asked by ‘Strictly’ host Tess Daly how she felt about her time on the show, Angela said: “I have to tell you that the last nine weeks have probably been the most terrifying, the most fantastic, the most glorious, the most joyful that I have spent for a very long time in my profession.
“I have had the time of my life, people keep making reference to the fact that I presented ‘Come Dancing’, but that was 40 years ago, that was a different time! “(Kai Widdrington – her ‘Strictly’ professional dancer partner) wasn’t even born then! But actually being this side of the competition, this side of the programme has been really an eye opener for me in so many different ways.
“Everybody talks about the team and all the pros – everyone who has danced – there is a real team spirit in this programme unlike anything I’ve come across anywhere else in any of the many programmes I’ve done.
“It’s absolutely fabulous. They support us, they encourage us all the time – it’s absolutely wonderful. But the person who really has to get the most credit is this gentleman here (Kai.)
“He’s an old soul on young shoulders. He’s 28 and I’m 79, there’s a 51-year difference in our ages.
“He has looked after me so brilliantly, he’s a wonderful dancer, a great choreographer, but he’s a terrific teacher… and he has the patience of a saint!
“All I can say is that you’ve (Kai) got me here so don’t you dare cry! He and his partner, Nadiya (Bychkova), are in every sense of the word beautiful people and I am so pleased to have you in my life.”
Kai, 28, told Tess: “Since week one when I met this amazing woman – as she said I wasn’t even born when she did ‘Come Dancing’, I had to ask my parents about the amazing Morecombe and Wise moment that was so famous, and about Come Dancing.
“Like Angela just said, there’s a 50-year age gap between us, but we’re like mates!
“Dancing with (Angela) the whole way through this competition has just been such a celebration of yourself and her life and I wish she could see me now.”
He added to Angela: “I’m so proud of you and you should be proud of yourself, it’s been my absolute honour and pleasure to dance with you especially in this beautiful ballroom.”
Saturday night’s show saw the remaining couples take to the Blackpool Tower Ballroom to perform for the judging panel of Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and head judge, Shirley Ballas, as well as the voting public.
On Sunday, Angela and Kai again performed their American Smooth to ‘Tea for Two’ by Ella Fitzgerald, while Bobby and his pro partner Dianne Buswell, 34, performed their Jive to ‘Wake Me Up Before You Go Go’ by Wham!.
Craig chose to save Bobby and Dianne, saying: “Well, there’s a standout performance for me that I can’t ignore and the couple that I would like to save are Bobby and Dianne.”
Motsi also went for the pair, adding: “I felt that both couples danced so beautifully. Really one of the most beautiful dance offs we have had. I am going to save Bobby and Dianne.”
Anton Du Beke went with Bobby and Dianne, saying: “Well again, I thought it was a marvellous dance off. Both couples danced very, very well. I thought Bobby and Dianne danced excellently again.
“I thought that Angela and Kai’s dance was beautiful and Angela even thanked one of the other dancers for lifting her and putting her down so gracefully which I thought was absolutely beautiful. For me the couple I would like to save are Bobby and Dianne.”
With three votes to Bobby and Dianne, it meant they had won the majority vote and would be staying in the competition, but Shirley Ballas also said she would have decided to save Bobby and Dianne.
The remaining six couples will next take to the dancefloor when ‘Strictly’ returns on Saturday 25 November at 7.30pm, with the results show on Sunday 26 November at 7.20pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

Alex Jones and Binky Felstead lead famous faces getting into the Christmas spirit

OHMYGOSSIP — Alex Jones, Sam Faiers and Binky Felstead were among the stars who got into the festive spirit in London on Sunday (12.11.23).
The stars, and other famous faces including Steph McGovern, Louise Roe and Michelle Heaton walked through a winter wonderland to get into The Disney Store on Oxford Street, where they were serenaded by the Disney Choir, tucked into a ‘Frozen’-themed buffet in honour of the film’s 10th anniversary, got involved in arts and crafts activities, and to shop the new holiday items, including a collection for forthcoming blockbuster ‘Wish’.
And the shopDisney and Disney Store event wouldn’t have been complete without a meet and greet with hosts Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Goofy and Pluto.
Alex said: “Being here at the Disney Store event has been an absolutely incredible experience. The magic, the lights, and the festive spirit are truly something special. The enthusiasm and joy in the air is infectious, and it’s heart-warming to see families and friends come together to celebrate the holiday season in such a magical way.”
Binky was thrilled to introduce her brood to the Disney favourites.
She said: “I have just had the most amazing time at the Disney Store and shopDisney event – it truly got me into the Christmas spirit! My favourite part of the morning was seeing the kids’ joy when they met the Disney characters.
“It was heart-warming to see the magic of Disney come alive for them, reminding me of the joy that the holiday season brings to all of us.
Meanwhile, Sam hailed the celebration – which supported the Make-A-Wish charity – as the “perfect way” to start the festive season.
She said: “Attending the Disney Store and shopDisney event was like stepping into a winter wonderland filled with magic and joy. It was the perfect way to kickstart the festive season.
“The highlight for my family and me was the Disney Choir singing carols and Disney songs. It made us feel so warm and joyful and captured the true spirit of Christmas perfectly. It was a moment we’ll always treasure.
“The festive treats and holiday-themed goodies made the day even more special. When it comes to getting the festive season started, no one knows how to do it quite like Disney does!”

Taika Waititi gives major update on Star Wars movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Taika Waititi is “still developing” his ‘Star Wars’ movie but he’s in no rush.
The 48-year-old actor and filmmaker has been linked to an upcoming blockbuster in the long running space saga since 2020, and despite things going quiet he has given a promising update on the project.
He told Entertainment Tonight: “At the moment, I’m still developing something with them.
“Like me, they have a lot of projects going on. I think they’re gonna push it until I finish these other projects.
“I’ve got about four other scripts that I’m trying to finish. My thing is I want to take my time with that and get it right. I don’t want to rush this movie.”
One such project is new sports comedy ‘Next Goal Wins’, which is based on the 2014 documentary of the same name.
It follows Thomas Rongen as he leads the American Samoa national team – regarded as one of the weakest teams in world football – to qualification for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Reflecting on the documentary, he added: “It was uplifting and it was like the ultimate sports underdog film.
“Also, all of the elements of the film were already there and it just felt very easy for me.
“All I had to do was copy all the best bits that are the elements of the story and it was done.”
Meanwhile, Waititi’s comments about his ‘Star Wars’ movie echo those made by Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy earlier this year as she gave an update on both his film, and the planned Disney+ ‘Lando’ series.
She told ET back in April: “Oh yeah, all that’s underway. There’s no pivot. No pivot. It’s all underway.
“Taika’s a little slow. Everybody’s busy, but yeah. Those are great projects and we’re definitely still doing them.”

Denzel Washington to reunite with Antoine Fuqua for Hannibal epic

OHMYGOSSIP — Denzel Washington is to play Hannibal in a new film.
The 68-year-old Hollywood legend will reunite with Antoine Fuqua – who directed him in 2001 movie ‘Training Day’, for which Washington won an Oscar – for the upcoming Netflix production.
As well as playing the ancient Carthaginian general – famous for riding an elephant into battle with the Romans – Washington will also produce the film alongside Fuqua, Erik Olsen and Adam Goldworm, according to Deadline.
John Logan will pen the script, and Jeremy Lott and Frank Rodriguez Moll are to executive produce the movie.
Hannibal commanded the forces of Carthage in their battle against the Roman Republic during the Second Punic War – which took place from 218 to 201 BC – during which he invaded Italy on top of a North African war elephant across the Alps.
Hannibal was also regarded as a master tactician when it came to defeating his opponents.
The movie is expected to be set after the battles between Hannibal’s troops and the Roman Republic during the Second Punic War.
Washington was previously linked to the role of Hannibal more than 20 years ago.
20th Century Fox were set to produce at the time, but the actor didn’t want to be away from his family for a long period.
Vin Diesel has also previously spoken of a desire to make a trilogy of movies about Hannibal, which he wants to direct and star in.
In June 2021, he told Men’s Health magazine: “My reality is, I wake up and go, ‘I haven’t done the Hannibal trilogy.’ ”

Nicola Coughlan’s Doctor Who character revealed in first look photo

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicola Coughlan says working with Ncuti Gatwa on ‘Doctor Who’ was “an absolute joy”.
The ‘Derry Girls’ and ‘Bridgerton’ actress is heading into the TARDIS after joining the cast of the BBC’s beloved sci-fi series in an “exciting undisclosed role”, and she’s been delighted to work with both showrunner Russell T Davies and the Fifteenth Doctor.
She said in a statement: “I’m excited to join the Whoniverse under the leadership of the inimitable Russell T Davies.
“I’ve been a fan of Ncuti Gatwa for some time and getting to share the screen with him as the Doctor has been an absolute joy.”
Her first in character photo has been revealed as she sported a red beret and matching coat and gazes towards the camera.
Russell revealed she brought “joy” to the set during their time working together.
He added: “This has been the most brilliant shoot, with Nicola lighting up the set and bringing joy.
“From Derry, via Bridgerton, to the TARDIS, it’s the trip of a lifetime.”
Russell had previously revealed Nicola was lined up for next year’s Christmas special, with plenty to come before her first appearance.
This month, ‘Doctor Who’ returns with three special episodes as David Tennant is back to play the Fourteenth Doctor alongside Catherine Tate as Donna Noble.
From there, Russell is set to introduce Ncuti as the Fifteenth Doctor, and he will be sticking around once the ‘Sex Education’ star’s adventures begin.
In a recent interview with SFX Magazine, Russell revealed his plans for the future of the show.
He said: “I’m planning season 3 now, there’s plans for season 4. “Absolutely. Who knows? Who knows. I’m not getting any younger.”

‘I don’t know if I’ve taken on too much!’ Terrified Josie Gibson reveals I’m A Celebrity fears

OHMYGOSSIP — Josie Gibson fears she may have “taken on too much” by signing up for ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ – because insects are her “biggest phobia”.
The ‘This Morning’ presenter isn’t sure how she will cope on the ITV show, which is set in the Australian jungle, because she usually “freezes” when she spots a spider, so she is feeling “anxious” about taking part in the programme.
She said: “Now ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ is fast approaching, it’s sinking in and I am feeling anxious.
“I keep thinking, ‘S***, I am actually doing this?’ I know I have taken on challenges for ‘This Morning’ in the past but I don’t know if I’ve taken on too much here. It’s all becoming very real.
“I am dreading the insects and it’s my biggest phobia.
“I also don’t like spiders and I freeze normally when I see one.
“My family thinks I am mad doing the programme too as they know what I’m like with creepy crawlies!”
Josie also admitted she is not a big fan of heights, but she is determined to “give it a go” in the jungle.
She said: “I am most looking forward to being at one with nature. And I hope I learn new things about myself.
“I hope I can push myself more than I think I can. Eating trials? I have got to try and close my eyes and not think about what it is I am eating. Heights?
“I don’t like heights either. To be fair, I am not liking a lot of things that the jungle throws at you but I want to give it all a go.”
Former ‘Big Brother’ winner Josie is also concerned about not being able to speak to her five-year-old son Reggie while she is on the show.
She said: “It’s going to be tough and I am worried about not having any contact with him. He is so excited though!”
Josie will appear on the show alongside ‘Made in Chelsea’ star Sam Thompson, actress Jamie Lynn Spears – the sister of pop star Britney Spears – and former UKIP party leader Nigel Farage, among others.
‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ returns on ITV1 and ITVX from Sunday 19 November at 9pm.
