‘It’s all about money!’ Nick Pickard confirms Hollyoaks will ‘go on until at least 30th anniversary’

OHMYGOSSIP — Nick Pickard has confirmed ‘Hollyoaks’ will “definitely go on until at least the 30th anniversary” in two years.
The 48-year-old actor admitted the future of the show – which recently revealed it was going digital-first, sparking concerns about its longevity – is “all about if the money’s still coming in”.
Quizzed on whether he thinks soaps are a dying breed, Nick – who has portrayed Tony Hutchinson on the Channel 4 soap since the inaugural episode on 23 October, 1995 – told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Well I think it’s a question for bigger people than me.
“I mean, I look at it like if people weren’t watching it, you know, they wouldn’t be making it.
“It’s all about if the money’s still coming in and I don’t know how but they’re still on TV and we’ve been told that we definitely go on until at least the 30th anniversary so that’s as far as I know.”
Nick won’t be filming for ‘Hollyoaks’ for the next few weeks after he signed up to appear in the new series of ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’, which begins on Sunday (19.11.23).
And the star may not even be at ‘Hollyoaks’ for the 30th anniversary in October 2025, because, like the rest of the cast, he is only on a one-year contract.
He added: “I’m only contracted year to year anyway.
“So I mean, I’ve always taken each year as it comes.
“Every time we get a contract we go out and have a little drink and say it’s another year in the sunshine.
“So that’s how we live, none of us are on longer than one-year contracts anyway.”
Nick recently admitted the ‘Hollyoaks’ bosses have been “really supportive” of him taking part in ‘I’m A Celebrity’.
He said: “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and as soon as I was approached, I said ‘yes’. I am not quitting ‘Hollyoaks’ to take part.
“My bosses have been really supportive of me doing it.”

Strictly Come Dancing’s Blackpool special to be ‘bigger and better’

OHMYGOSSIP — Strictly Come Dancing’s Blackpool special will be “bigger and better” this year.
The BBC One show’s director Nikki Parsons has told how each couple will have additional dancers to “enhance their choreography” on Saturday night (18.11.23) ahead of the special, which will air from the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper’s TV Mag, which is out on Saturday, Nikki said: “Each couple gets extra dancers to enhance their choreography and the staging, as Madness are performing.
“It’s such a fun show and we all love going to Blackpool.”
Nikki believes the celebrities – who, this year, include the likes of Ellie Leach, Bobby Brazier, and Nigel Harman – always get a boost from performing in such a special venue.
She added: “It feels much more like a live event and more real, and I think the dancers feel like that as well because it’s such an iconic place for ballroom and everyone steps on a gear.”
Earlier this week, former ‘Coronation Street’ actress Ellie – who is hot favourite to win the Glitterball Trophy this year – told how she has “lost a lot of weight” since she joined the Latin and ballroom show.
She told OK! magazine: “I’ve lost a lot of weight.
“You’re training so much. I still need to work on my fitness levels but even the dance we’re doing this week, I wouldn’t have been able to do three weeks ago.”
Ellie has never been a fitness fanatic – but she’s fully embraced the ‘Strictly’ challenge.
She said: “I’ve never really been into physical activity or going to the gym and stuff like that.
“But I’ve always loved watching people dance. So to be able to learn how to do it now, it’s amazing. My body and my mindset are changing so much each day. I don’t know how much weight I’ve lost but I can feel myself getting stronger, which I think is great.”

Vanessa Kirby used ‘creative licence’ for depiction of Empress Josephine in Napoleon

OHMYGOSSIP — Vanessa Kirby used “creative licence” for her portrayal of Empress Josephine in ‘Napoleon’.
The 35-year-old actress features in Sir Ridley Scott’s historical epic as the wife of Joaquin Phoenix’s ruthless French Emperor and explained how she took certain liberties in bringing the historical figure to life.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at the film’s UK premiere on Thursday (16.11.23), Vanessa said: “As with any fictional interpretation, who they are onscreen and compared to the history, there’s always creative licence.
“It’s like in ‘The Crown’ (in which she played Princess Margaret in the first two seasons). I learned that behind closed doors, it’s an imagined version of events… I read every book I possibly could about her to capture this very elusive, interesting, strange energy she had.”
The movie focuses on Napoleon’s successes on the battlefield and the deep sexual hold that Josephine had over him, with Vanessa relishing the exploration of the couple’s “unusual relationship”.
She explained: “I’d probably say for me, the magical experience was getting to explore this dynamic, unusual relationship.
“Even though I was texting Joaquin all the way through the battles like, ‘How are you doing?’ and he was freezing in the UK winter.”
Mark Bonnar stars in the film as Jean-Andoche Junot – a general of Napoleon’s and commander of the French invasion of Portugal in 1807 – and hailed Scott and Phoenix for making an “epic, complex, thrilling” biopic.
The Scottish actor said: “(Napoleon) was a man of huge contradictions – fascinating, jealous, bad-tempered – but his men loved him.
“They loved him – he fought beside them. He’s more written about him than anybody else apart from Jesus. So that kind of tells you why Ridley was attracted.”

‘I must try to be cooler about it’: Olivia Colman is fixated on playing M in James Bond

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Colman dreams of starring in a James Bond film.
The Oscar-winning actress has confessed that she would love to take on the part of 007’s boss M – the character that has been portrayed by Dame Judi Dench and Ralph Fiennes in the past.
In an interview with British Vogue, Olivia said: “The amount of time I have wanted to be M. I’m not sure who I need to call…”
When the piece’s writer suggested that she contact Bond boss Barbara Broccoli, the 49-year-old star responded: “I met her once. I wanted to go, ‘Can I be M?’ I must try to be cooler about it. Maybe she reads Vogue? Put that bit in.”
The ‘Empire of Light’ actress was also delighted to be likened to a younger version of Dench.
She said: “What! I’ve never heard that. Oh, I love that! Well, I’ve got short hair!”
Olivia explained that she would prefer to play action-packed roles than make a return to the theatre, having last performed in a stage show in 2017.
The ‘Broadchurch’ star said: “As I’ve gotten older, I’ve become more scared. I used to just love it. It was like my heroin, you know. But it’s quite scary now. I’ve left big gaps between doing plays. Probably left too much of a gap…
“I have always wanted to walk in slow motion with an explosion behind me looking cool.”
It is not the first time that Olivia has expressed an interest in Bond as she tried to persuade her ‘Fleabag’ co-star and 007 screenplay writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge for a role in ‘No Time To Die’.
She told Entertainment Weekly: “Trust me, I’ve tried! I’ve asked!”

Nella Rose warns she’s ‘one of the loudest people’ in the UK

OHMYGOSSIP — Nella Rose has warned she is one of the “loudest individuals in the UK” ahead of her appearance on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’.
The social media star has headed to Australia to take part in the jungle reality show but before she left the UK, she advised people need to “turn up the volume” if they want to get attention.
Playing a game of ‘What’s the Link?’ in the latest installment of Captain Morgan and Wall of Comedy’s ‘Captain’s House Party’, Nella and her superfan beat Yung Filly and his partner to correctly guess a series of images represented Long Island Iced Tea.
But after Nella shouted out the answer, her disgruntled rival said: “Nella’s so loud, she just overpowered the room.”
Nella replied: “Me and you are the loudest two individuals in the UK, so you want to play with me, turn up the volume.”
The game saw Nella win both the drink and food categories, but she had a scare in the latter round when her musing about what pictures of a guy and a green traffic light meant lead to Filly getting the answer.
Exclaiming “Mango”, Filly said: “You shouldn’t have said man, just keep certain things in your head. Next time you want to shout, just know I’ll be taking the whole equations.”
Although she was 2-0 up, Nella offered Filly a deal that saw whoever won the final round becoming the overall victors – and she ultimately lost after struggling with the random sets of images.
After three episodes of the show, the score is now 2-2, with more installments to follow in order to see which of the pair will be crowned Ultimate Party Host.

Hugh Bonneville and Karen Gillan to star in Steven Moffat’s new ITV drama Douglas Is Cancelled

OHMYGOSSIP — Hugh Bonneville and Karen Gillan are to star in a new four-part ITV comedy drama ‘Douglas Is Cancelled’.
The ‘Downton Abbey’ actor will portray titular character Douglas Bellowes, a respected current affairs news anchor, in the cancel culture drama which is set in a world of TV news.
Ex-‘Doctor Who’ star Karen will appear as Douglas’ sharper, savvier co-anchor, Madeline, in the programme, which has been written and will be executive produced by Steven Moffat.
The drama will tell the story of national treasure Douglas, who makes an ill-advised joke at his cousin’s wedding, which is overheard by a fellow guest who threatens to expose his comments on social media.
It results in a digital storm, which sees Douglas’ alleged indiscretion dissected, and everyone has an opinion on the controversy.
Karen said: “To torment a man, let alone a man named Douglas, for four episodes – armed with the writing of Steven Moffat – is a great privilege that I’m going to enjoy every minute of.”
Steven added: “I just sat down and wrote this – didn’t even tell anyone what I was doing.
“And now it’s all happening, thanks to the amazing Sue Vertue (renowned tv producer and in a rare moment of weakness, my wife).
“I can’t quite believe we’ve managed to get the mighty Hugh Bonneville involved as Douglas and that we’ve lured my old friend Karen Gillan back from Hollywood, to play Madeline.
“And like that’s not enough, we’ve got Ben Miles, Alex Kingston, Nick Mohammed and Simon Russell Beale. It’s the kind of cast that makes you terrified about stepping into the room.”
Ben Miles, Alex Kingston, Simon Russell Beale, and ‘Ted Lasso’ actor Nick Mohammed will also star in the drama, which will begin filming in London.

‘2023 is not my year’ Amy Dowden ‘absolutely gutted and heartbroken’ after Strictly setback

OHMYGOSSIP — Amy Dowden has been left “absolutely gutted and heartbroken” after fracturing her foot – meaning she won’t be able to make a ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ comeback this year.
The 33-year-old professional dancer had to pull out of the BBC Latin and ballroom series this year after she was diagnosed with breast cancer in May.
Despite this, Amy was still hoping to dance in the ballroom this year, but her hopes have now been dashed following her foot injury.
She wrote on Instagram: “Not the week I was hoping for since finishing chemo. Port out but unfortunately gained a boot for a fractured foot.
“Absolutely gutted and heartbroken as this means the plans for me to dance in the Strictly Ballroom this year are no longer possible. This is what has kept me going the past few months.
2023 is certainly not my year, roll on 2024 I say! #noluck #nyluckwillsoonchange #mycancerjourney #brokenfoot #fracture #heartbroken #gutted #rollon2024 (sic)”
Last week, Amy was in tears as she rang the bell to celebrate finishing her chemotherapy treatment.
She shared a video of the emotional moment on Instagram, and wrote: “I rang the bell and I’m so thankful I got too! My toughest journey yet! These past few months I look back and think how did my body get through this both physically and mentally. From the words I’m so sorry Amy, it’s cancer and what’s your fertility plans. To having a mastectomy, two weeks later hormone daily injections for egg retrieval, a little Crohns flare up and then on to chemo plus shutting down my ovaries on the same day which sadly lead to sepsis, blood clots, losing my eyebrows, lashes (I have a few hanging in there) and three toe nails.
“But also it’s taken away my love of life these past few months and of course my DANCING!
“It’s been tough. But hopefully has now given me chance of more life which I’m eternally grateful for and I will never take for granted again.
“I’ll never be the same Amy again but, what I do know is I’m so much stronger than I ever knew and I have made the most amazing friends along the way.
“I hate looking in the mirror at the moment but I know this is a small price to pay and ‘this too shall pass’.
“I’m so grateful to the wonderful Sheldon oncology unit and my family and friends who have been there endlessly for Ben and I. We did it! (sic)”

Vernon Kay raises 4 million for Children in Need after completing Ultra Ultramarathon Challenge

OHMYGOSSIP — Vernon Kay has raised more than £4 million for Children in Need after completing his Ultra Ultramarathon Challenge.
The BBC Radio 2 presenter, 49, ran 116 miles from Leicester to Bolton over four days, and he described it as “one of the most painful and joyous experiences I’ve ever had” just moments after he crossed the finish line at Bolton Wanderers’ Toughsheet Community Stadium on Friday morning (17.11.23).
Speaking to Radio 2 breakfast host Zoe Ball, he said: “I’m absolutely exhausted, absolutely spent, physically, mentally.
“It’s been one of the most painful and joyous experiences I’ve ever had. People we’ve met along away. We’ve met some brilliant people who’ve donated all they can.
“It was just one foot in front of the other, that’s what it was, and we’ve had a great team who’ve been absolutely brilliant, pushing me along and motivating me.”
He also joked: “Is there anyone here who can replace a knee.”
Vernon was fortunate with the weather during the majority of his brutal challenge, but it started raining just eight miles from the finish line.
He added: “We get to God’s country, the beautiful sun is rising as I turn to my left and the rain is falling at a constant pace, I can’t believe it. Can you believe it? We’ve done all them miles and we get eight miles away from Bolton and it starts chucking it down.”
On Thursday (16.11.23), Vernon admitted he was “absolutely shattered” after he completed more than 40 miles on Wednesday (15.11.23).
He told Zoe: “It was an interesting one yesterday because I was absolutely shattered after the 40 miles and then I came in and then there’s obviously … your body pumps itself full of adrenaline when you see everyone smiling and clapping and cheering, and whooping and hollering.
“And then there’s that lull, where you just sit down and you kind of slowly take it all in and try and compute what’s happened and then I got into my bedroom and I just literally collapsed on the bed!
“And this morning, I couldn’t wake up and I felt really a bit, I said to the gang, I said, ‘I feel sick this morning, I feel a bit light-headed, stomachs not the best’, and they were like, ‘oh it’s to be expected, because of everything that you’ve done.’ ”
BBC Children in Need airs on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 7pm on Friday 17th November.

I’m A Celebrity team ‘in overdrive’ due to ‘extreme weather’ in Australia

OHMYGOSSIP — The ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ team have been “in overdrive” due to “extreme weather” in Australia this week.
Lightning storms have been pummelling the east coast of the country, where most of the stars of the upcoming 23rd series are, but there has been 40-degree heat in the Australian outback of Alice Springs, where Josie Gibson, Nigel Farage and Nella Rose have been filming a launch show challenge in the desert.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “The changing weather across the dual centres has the team in overdrive – one minute the celebs are boiled and the next they’re soaking wet.
“This is the most extreme weather in years and it’s making logistics a nightmare.
“Plans keep changing with each hour that passes as they tick down to launch.”
The red-hot temperatures in Alice Springs are 15 degrees more than the average for November.
A source said: “You don’t film in the Australian Outback and not come prepared but these temperatures were truly sweltering.
“They don’t call it the red desert for nothing.
“But the Alice Springs region hasn’t seen temps like this in November for years.
“The celebrities are all used to the London chill so this was a fiery blast of Aussie reality.”
But the ‘I’m A Celebrity’ production team have come prepared, and have been handing out special “water-activated cooling towels” to Josie, Nigel and Nella to keep their body temperatures down.
The source added: “They were all set to work wearing their regular clothing – which for Nigel meant his chinos and a pink shirt, Josie was in a denim jumpsuit and Nella in a silky two piece.
“The crew rapidly turned around scientific, water-activated cooling towels which Nigel, Josie and Nella could grab to bring down their body temperature.
“The high-tech gear uses specially-engineered fabric to absorb heat from the skin and conduct it away from the body into the air through evaporation.”
The special series-first challenge will see producers drop off the trio in the heart of the Australian outback, where they will be surrounded by red desert as far as the eye can see.
Josie, Nigel and Nella will be tasked with helping their fellow celebrities, who are 2,000 miles away in the Gold Coast.
The trio will take on several challenges in a bid to win time for their campmates, who are trying to win stars and ultimately food for the camp.

Independent film Susie Q trends on Amazon Prime

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Susie Q’ has become one of the top 5,000 streaming movies in the UK on Amazon Prime.
The independent comedy/crime movie follows two brothers who fight over a girl they plan to rob, and after becoming available with a subscription to Amazon Prime it is trending at the top, sandwiched between big-budget hits such as ‘Natural Born Killers’ and ‘Flashdance’.
‘Susie Q’ was released during the NYC Indie Film Festival, but was re-edited by filmmaker Vilan Trub during the COVID-19 pandemic and re-released to greater success and currently holds a 7.0 rating on IMDb.
The production was inspired by the French New Wave and films from the ’90s indie movement such as ‘Clerks’.
Director Trub said: “I grew up during September 11 and saw a drastic change in society following that day. It was my generation’s Kennedy moment and I always remembered how American Graffiti captured the feeling of community problems superseding world events in importance before the Kennedy assassination. That’s what I wanted this movie to be, a time capsule with the summer of 2001.”
Trub also directed ‘The Dirty Kind’ from executive producer Michael Madsen.

Jordan Sangha wins Big Brother

OHMYGOSSIP — Jordan Sangha has won ‘Big Brother’.
The 26-year-old lawyer from Scunthorpe has won the £100,000 prize, after beating Olivia Young to the ‘Big Brother’ crown.
After his win was announced, Jordan joked: “I can pay my council tax!”
Jordan subsequently revealed that he felt “honoured” to win the ITV show. However, he never imagined waking away with the prize money.
He said: “The money will be nice, won’t it … did I think I could win it? No.”
Jordan also addressed his relationship with Henry, which he previously described as being “plutonic with kisses”.
He explained: “I need to read up on plutonic love … I need to research more into that.”
Asked where their relationship might go next, Jordan replied: “Henry and I made a promise that whoever wins, we would go to a five star hotel or somewhere decent … with a twin room. We won’t be sleeping in the beds!”
Prior to entering the house, Jordan admitted that he actually applied for the show “on a whim”.
He previously shared: “I was quite disillusioned with life so I suppose boredom made me apply to some extent.
“I honestly applied on a whim. I’m interested in the social experiments side of ‘Big Brother’.
“I don’t really like the idea of living with people but I thought I might as well give it a try. And I wanted to challenge myself.”
Meanwhile, Olivia confessed to being shocked by her own success.
The runner-up thought she wouldn’t last long in the ‘Big Brother’ house, but she ended up making it until the end.
After the result was announced, Olivia explained: “On that first night, I thought ‘I’m a gonner. What a waste of a journey.'”
Elsewhere, Henry finished in third position and he jokingly told Jordan to “book us a holiday” as he left the house.
The professional food critic subsequently discussed his relationship with Jordan.
He shared: “I couldn’t imagine my experience in there without him. Once he lets you in, it’s really wonderful and you feel it’s a real privilege.”

Nigel Farage reveals which Bushtucker Trials he will be avoiding on I’m A Celebrity

OHMYGOSSIP — Nigel Farage will have to avoid “anything to do with weightlifting” during his time on ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’
The 59-year-old former politician is one of the famous faces heading into the jungle for this year’s edition of the ITV1 survival show but explained that when it comes to challenges or Bushtucker Trials, he will not be up for anything that could be too strenuous because he is a “little bit damaged” in some areas.
He told The Sun newspaper: “Well, anything involving weightlifting, I’d be out because I’ve obviously had some quite serious physical injuries and neck reconstructions and goodness knows what else.
“So they are fully aware that I’m a little bit damaged when it comes to bodily structure. But having said that, I can still do most things.”
However, the former UKIP leader does not seem too worried about surviving weeks in the outback with a slew of other celebrities as he noted that the Bushtucker Trials are “unlikely to kill” him and vowed to do his best throughout the process.
He said: “I’ll just do my best. It’s all I can do. I doubt that any of the trials are actually going to kill me, although I don’t think they’ll all be a bag of fun.
“But hey look, I signed up for this. It’s in for a penny in for a pound. So let’s go!”
Nigel will be joined by Britney Spears’ sister Jamie Lynn Spears, ‘This Morning’ host Josie Gibson, 38, ‘First Dates’ star Fred Sirieix, JLS singer Marvin Humes, and NTA Award-winning ‘EastEnders’ actress Danielle Harold, 31, on the show.
Meanwhile, food critic Grace Dent admitted she is “filled with dread” at the thought of surviving in the jungle as she joked that her ideal campmate would be the “practical” Queen Camilla and ‘Hollyoaks’ star Nick Pickard – who is the soap’s longest-serving cast member – admitted that he is a “bit scared of the dark” but jumped at the “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity when it presented itself.
‘Made in Chelsea’ Sam Thompson star will also be heading into the jungle and has already vowed to do the “cooking and the cleaning” for his fellow campers, whilst YouTuber Nella Rose is determined to “keep the morale” high in the jungle.

Josie Gibson is hoping the I’m A Celeb jungle turns out to be a TV studio

OHMYGOSSIP — Josie Gibson is hoping that the ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here’ jungle turns out to be a TV studio.
The 38-year-old presenter will be taking part in this year’s edition of the ITV1 jungle reality show when it returns to screens on Saturday (17.11.23) but admitted that she was most looking forward to being flown out business class and had hoped that the infamous outback wasn’t the actually the real thing.
She told OK! Magazine: “I’m most excited about the flight. I can’t wait to fly business class. Apparently, it’s unlimited champagne, so I’m really excited about being a Champagne Annie for 21 hours. I’ve got a business class flight there and a business class flight back. I’m hoping it will be like a TV studio. But whenever I’ve spoken to people, they’re like, ‘Get that out of your head, it’s the actual jungle!’”
The ‘This Morning’ presenter – who has five-year-old son Reggie with former partner Terry – went on to add that her family are “worried” about how she will cope in the jungle as she revealed her tactic to make it through the Bushtucker Trials is to hum her way through them.
She said: “I’m crap with any creepy crawlies or spiders. Even the thought of it, urgh! It sounded like a good idea at the time, but then reality sets in and you think, ‘Wow, what have I done?!’
“You know that song, ‘Everywhere?” I’ve got to have that song in my head when I’m doing the trials – that’s like a meditation for me. Hopefully it will get me through it.’
Josie will be joining former UKIP leader Nigel Farage, 59, Britney Spears’ sister Jamie Lynn, ‘First Dates’ star Fred Sirieix, JLS singer Marvin Humes, and NTA Award-winning ‘EastEnders’ actress Danielle Harold, 31, on the show.

Original King of the Jungle Tony Blackburn didn’t expect I’m A Celeb to go on for more than 20 years

OHMYGOSSIP — Tony Blackburn didn’t expect ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’ to have such longevity.
The 80-year-old DJ won the first series of the ITV1 jungle reality show when it aired in 2002 but didn’t think it would still be on screen more than two decades later and admitted he “wouldn’t like” to do it now because of the challenges given to famous faces.
Speaking on BBC Breakfast, he said: “I thought it was a really good show 21 years ago. It’s changed a lot now, it’s much more…some of the trials are awful – I wouldn’t like to do it now. I thought it would last quite a long time, I’m not sure about 21 years but it still gets a really big audience and, of course, I tune in for [hosts] Ant and Dec because they’re so good.
“I just love watching the show because I know what they’re all going through when they sit by the fire and they’re all arguing. It’s not an easy show to do, it’s a very tough show, particularly now I think. We did two weeks over there, now they do three. I think two weeks was enough for me but I enjoyed every moment and it really did alter my life because you go in there and it’s very peaceful, no phones or anything. The people you’re in there with, you have to learn to be yourself on there and I’m looking forward to this next one.”
The former ‘Top of the Pops’ host – who competed against the late Tara Palmer-Tomkinson and singer Darren Day in the jungle – went on to add that he had “no idea” what the show entailed when he signed up for it and admitted that his wife and mother even tried to talk him out of flying over to Australia to take part.
He added: “I had no idea. When I was approached to do the show, I met some of the researchers and they said ‘Do you like outdoor life?’ and I said ‘Not particuarly.’ They asked me what I’d eat and I said ‘No idea, I’m a vegetarian’ and so I presumed that they wouldn’t want me but they did. My mother and my wife tried to talk me out of it, they said I wouldn’t be very good at it. It was an interesting one because we didn’t know how the show worked and I don’t even remember them telling us we had to do the trials!”
The 23rd series of ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’ will air from 9pm on Sunday 19 November, featuring the likes of politician Nigel Farage, ‘This Morning’ host Josie Gibson, and Britney Spears’ sister Jamie Lynn amongst the new contestants.

Julian Clary doesn’t regret ‘sh*****g around’ in his youth: ‘Why not?’

OHMYGOSSIP — Julian Clary doesn’t regret being promiscuous in his youth.
The 64-year-old comedian – who is now married to Ian Mackley – is working with “a lot of people under 30” as he plays King Herod in the UK touring production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s classic ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ but has noticed that they would rather go home after a show than engage in any “debauchery” like he did.
He told The Saturday Times: “I am certainly not chaining myself to the railings any more and I think the advances of LGBTQI are really important and require constant vigilance. But the young generation don’t seem to be interested in sh****** as I was. I am working with a lot of people under 30 and they don’t have the same baggage. They are all so sweet and dedicated and earnest but, in the old days, I’d do a show and then, afterwards, the debauchery was astonishing. I was at it all the time. They don’t want that. They’d rather go to bed with a hot lemon
“But yes, I had my trousers down quite regularly — why not? I’m so glad I lived that life. I think it was John Betjeman who famously told Michael Parkinson he regretted not having had more sex in his life. That certainly won’t be on my headstone!”
The former ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ winner went on to add that he did have to “get over” the thought of having children but his husband – who is in his forties – is now coming to terms with whether it is possible or not to start a family at all.
He said: “I got over that a long time ago but Ian’s in his forties so I suppose he’s at that stage now — in your forties you get a sense physiologically of whether it’s possible to start a family. We’re lucky because, when there’s an age gap, you don’t always feel the same things at the same time, but we agree on that.”

Chicken Run 2 director reveals why sequel took more than 20 years

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Fell “always wanted” to make a sequel to ‘Chicken Run’ but struggled to find a story.
The 57-year-old director has been trying for years to come up with a concept to follow the success of the 2000 hit film – which follows a band of chickens doomed to a life of egg-laying on a Yorkshire chicken farm – but explained that the upcoming ‘Dawn of the Nugget’ took so long because it is stop-motion animation is such a “big operation.”
He told Collider: “It is a big operation. It’s not a huge studio, Aardman, when you compare it to the big studios. You know, they have two or three pipelines running, they can run three feature films [at once]. They were clearly going to make a Wallace and Gromit movie, which they did, which was amazing and brilliant. I think from there, I’ve always been kicking the ideas around. I’ve been to meetings over the decades, the last 20 years. I’ve always wanted to, but it’s taken a long time to find a story, the story that’s worthy of the next chapter.”
The upcoming film will focus on chickens Ginger and Rocky who, having escaped to a new farm, welcome a new arrival before a threat takes over their lives.
The initial film remains the highest-grossing stop-motion animated film in history but the sequel will be released on Netflix and Sam is hoping that in doing that, the film will attain a more “gradual audience” than if they were relying on an opening weekend and sales at the box office.
He said: “I think a lot of people who make films for streaming still think cinematically. I think Netflix encourages it, really. They don’t push you to make it for a smaller screen. They are great. I’ve heard it before, ‘They’re so great to work with,’ but they actually are. They are incredibly encouraging. I think they’ve opened up the parameters for creativity so much because you’re not stuck with this opening weekend box office results, and you can find an audience a little more gradually, and a much wider audience, a worldwide audience across the globe, you know? I think, yes, you can make things more unusual and know that it will find its audience. It doesn’t have to be just in that opening weekend.”
‘Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget’ will be released on Netflix on December 15.
