ITV bosses ‘brainstorming ideas’ for a Sam Thompson and Tony Bellew TV show

OHMYGOSSIP — ITV bosses are said to be keen to offer Sam Thompson and Tony Bellew their own show off the back of their ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ bromance.
The pair have developed a close friendship on the ITV show, which began with the ‘Made in Chelsea’ star keen to get to know his hero Tony.
And now, ITV producers are said to be “brainstorming ideas” for the pair, with a travel show potentially on the cards.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “The jungle always brews up unlikely friendships and bromances but we’ve not seen one like Sam and Tony’s before.
“What started off as annoyance is clearly now morphing into something more brotherly and it makes for great telly.
“Execs are brainstorming ideas but they want to look at something like a travel show.”
Sam, 31, is currently the bookmakers favourite to be crowned King of the Jungle, with Tony, 40, second favourite for the title.
Tony’s wife, Rachael Bellew, appeared on ‘Good Morning Britain’ on Tuesday (05.12.23) and admitted there is a chair with Sam’s name on it at the Bellew household this Christmas if he wants it.
She said: “He’s just another child. There’s a chair around the Christmas table for him. The more the merrier.”
Should the pals land a jungle spin-off show then it wouldn’t be the first time ITV has created one off the back of a camp friendship.
Radio 1 DJ Jordan North and former ‘Coronation Street’ Beverley Callard became good pals during their time on the 20th series of ‘I’m A Celebrity’, when it took place at Gwrych Castle in Abergele, Wales, due to Australia being out of bounds due to coronavirus pandemic travel restrictions.
As a result of their friendship, Jordan and Beverley went on to land travel series ‘Destination Wedding’.

‘It was very embarrassing and not fun at all!’ Vanessa Feltz details her ‘bulge’ battle

OHMYGOSSIP — Vanessa Feltz found it “very embarrassing” to have her “almighty” weight battle play out in the public eye over the years.
The 61-year-old TV presenter has been “battling the bulge” for years, and admitted it was “not fun at all” to see her weight increasing and decreasing in front of the nation.
During an appearance on Talk TV, the broadcaster said: “It seems to me and people who have watched me over the years and listened to me over the years will know I’ve had an almighty battle with the bulge.
“Which for many, many years I lost as I yo-yo’d backwards and forwards, upwards and downwards, all in the public eye, it was very embarrassing and not fun at all.”
Vanessa admitted she struggled with the mental aspect of her weight battle the most.
She said: “The emotional and psychological side of this is very, very important. It isn’t just, ‘You feel hungry so you eat lots,’ and it isn’t just, ‘You don’t care about yourself or how you look or your health, so you eat lots.’
“It’s neither of those things really so something is afoot isn’t it.”
In June, Vanessa admitted she would’ve been “spared so much stress” if a weight-loss jab had been invented earlier.
Writing for The Sun newspaper’s Fabulous magazine, she said: “Even with the best intentions and utmost willingness that I’ve had, my weight has fluctuated wildly over the years. My journey has been well documented. I slimmed from a size 22 to a size 10 between 1999 and 2000, but I ended up putting it all back on.
“I managed to lose two stone again in 2004, but yet again it returned. In 2007 I managed to drop 3st, but despite all the willpower I could muster, I couldn’t keep the weight off and I ended up back at size 22. By 2019 I decided to have a gastric bypass, where a small pouch is created in the stomach and connected to the small intestine, bypassing the rest of the stomach, so you take in less food and feel fuller for longer. Finally it worked, and all together I managed to lose five stone.”

Layton Williams blasts ‘haters’ after landing perfect ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ score

OHMYGOSSIP — Layton Williams is blasting his “haters” after getting a perfect ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ score.
The musical theatre star, 29, got a 40 from the judges on Saturday (03.12.23) night’s episode of the BBC ballroom series – which had its elimination show axed this week after 50-year-old ‘Casualty’ actor Nigel Harman’s shock withdrawal from the competition at the weekend due to an injury sustained in rehearsals.
Layton bounced back on Saturday from last week’s bottom two to deliver what has been ranked as the most impressive performance of the 2023 series alongside his 25-year-old professional partner Nikita Kuzmin.
He said on Sunday (03.12.23) on X about getting the highest possible score from every judge on the panel: “10’s across the board! Fighting back from the bottom 2 is rough but what a perfect routine for it.
“All credit has to go to the most amazing dance partner and teacher ever – @kuzmin__nikita! Think what you want about me, but give him his flowers plz.
“Reading all these comments really gave me the boost to go out there and slay for the stageys, theatre fans and MT industry! I’ve been flying the flag for us all since day dot and hope I’m doing ya’ll proud.”
Layton has been slammed since he started on ‘Strictly’ over having an advantage on the show given his theatre background.
He told The Guardian about the criticism: “I’ve taken it on the chin; I get what everyone’s saying.
“But if you could be a fly on the wall in this rehearsal room, it’s not easy for me.”
This week’s ‘Strictly’ points will be carried over to next week’s semi-final after Nigel’s exit.
He confirmed he had been forced to leave the show for “medical reasons” hours before the live show on Saturday.
The ‘Downton Abbey’ actor later appeared in the studio and revealed he had hospitalised after suffering a rib injury, forcing him and his pro partner Katya Jones, 34, to bow out of the competition.

‘She’s always part of the conversation’: Jeff Brazier turns to late Jade Goody for parenting advice

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeff Brazier has insisted the late Jade Goody is “always part of the conversation” about raising their sons.
The 44-year-old presenter’s former partner died of cancer in 2009 aged just 27, but he believes she is still watching over their boys Bobby, 20, and 19-year-old Freddie and regularly sends them signs she’s there.
Jeff told the Daily Star newspaper: “I often ask her for advice and we always find feathers. Many an occasion I’ve asked, ‘What would you do?’ because it’s a tough responsibility having all the weight of it on your shoulders. She is always part of the conversation.
“Bobby has so much of her in him and we see that shine through in every performance [on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’]. Of course for those she’s absolutely with us, she’s there.”
Jeff is in “awe” of his eldest son – who has made it through to next weekend’s ‘Strictly’ semi-final – and all he has achieved in his career over the last few years.
He said of Bobby: “I haven’t really stopped crying for the last couple of years on account of how proud I am. Getting into ‘EastEnders’, walking the catwalk for Dolce + Gabbana, winning an NTA, it borders into awe.”
And the presenter believes the ‘EastEnders’ actor has done so well because he’s had to handle “one of the biggest challenges”, losing his mother when he was just five years old.
He added: “I think it comes from having to encounter one of the biggest challenges we can ever face in life, especially at such a young age, and that’s loss.”
While Freddie hasn’t followed in his family’s famous footsteps, Jeff knows Jade would be just as proud of him.
He said: “One thing we were absolutely definite and united on was our children would have a better life than we did, a better childhood.”
Meanwhile, the TV star insisted he won’t be following Bobby onto ‘Strictly’.
He laughed: “I can’t possibly shake my hips the way he does!”

Rochelle Humes delays I’m A Celebrity Australia trip

OHMYGOSSIP — Rochelle Humes has been forced to delay her trip to Australia to support her husband Marvin Humes as he wraps up his stint on ‘I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!’
The families of all the contestants are jetting Down Under to meet their loved ones as finish competing in the ITV reality show but Rochelle has confirmed she’s unable to leave the UK due to work and family commitments – but she’s hoping to be able to get away in time to greet her husband on the bridge when he leaves the jungle camp.
Speaking in a video posted on Instagram, she explained: “I know that he’s having fun. Obviously I really want to see him, that goes without saying. And I could do with a hand!
“But I also really want him to stay in there because he’s committed to this jungle experience now. So I really want to make sure that he gets the most out of it and, you know, really stays there for as long as possible.
“But the predicament that I have is that all of the families, I think they landed on like Tuesday this week. I’ve obviously got the kids and I’ve got work and I’ve been trying to juggle everything and make sure I do the Christmas stuff before I go, because they’re in school.
“So my mum’s going to move in for like a week. And then I’ll be with Marv until he is finished. As in whenever he leaves the jungle, they leave at certain times so I will leave with him and then meet the children.”
However, Rochelle’s plan could go wrong if Marvin is given an early exit from the jungle – so she’s urged fans to vote to keep him in until she gets there.
She added: “My predicament is that I really don’t want him to walk out onto that bridge to nobody. Because that would mean I have really failed him and I’m really trying to make everything happen but I really don’t want him on that bridge lonely.
“So this is me asking, please vote for him. So that buys me my day of work on Monday and then I can get straight on the flight, 24 hours and then I’ll be there.
“I mean obviously I don’t want him to come out then either but then at least if he does, he’s got me there. So that is the plan. My predicament is, whilst I would love to have been in the Versace Hotel for a week, because it looks bloody incredible. I have to work and yeah I just want to make it there on time for my boy.
“So please vote for him. Please keep him in. Please don’t have him lonely on the bridge. The thought of that is just no.”
During his time on the show, Marvin previously opened up about how much he misses his wife. Speaking in the Bush Telegraph, he confessed: “Rochelle, I desperately miss her. She’s my best friend and there’s so much I want to talk to her about and tell her about. That is definitely the hardest part of this. Not being able to share my days with my best friend.”

‘We are not going to touch that moment again’: Robert Downey Jr won’t be back as Iron Man

OHMYGOSSIP — Robert Downey Jr. won’t play ‘Iron Man’ again.
The 58-year-old actor portrayed Tony Stark and his superhero alter ego in 11 movies from 2008’s ‘Iron Man’ to 2019’s ‘Avengers: Endgame’ but Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) boss Kevin Feige has insisted there are no plans to “magically undo” the character’s death so he can make an appearance in future films in the blockbuster series.
Asked by America’s Vanity Fair magazine if Downey could return to the role, Kevin said: “We are going to keep that moment and not touch that moment again.
“We all worked very hard for many years to get to that, and we would never want to magically undo it in any way.”
And Joe Russo, who co-directed ‘Avengers: Endgame’, recalled how the cast and crew “said tearful goodbyes on the last day of shooting” the movie.
He added: “Everybody had moved on emotionally. We promised [Downey] it would be the last time we made him do it — ever.”
His brother and co-director, Anthony Russo, admitted it was a “difficult thing” for Downey to return to reshoot a final line as Tony, with the situation being particularly poignant because of the location.
He said: “When he did come back, we were shooting on a stage directly opposite where he auditioned for Tony Stark. So his last line as Tony Stark was shot literally a couple hundred feet from his original audition that got him the role.”
Meanwhile, Kevin also admitted Marvel Entertainment originally didn’t want to cast Downey in the franchise because of his troubled past, but he was determined to get his man.
He said: “It purely came down to the Marvel board being nervous at putting all of their chips in their future films on somebody who famously had those legal troubles in the past.
“I wasn’t very good — and I’m still not great — at taking no for an answer. But I also don’t pound my chest to try to get my way.
“I try to figure out ways to make it as clear to other people why we should head in a direction. And that’s when the idea of a screen test came up.”

Layton Williams always wanted to do a musical episode of Bad Education

OHMYGOSSIP — Layton Williams has always wanted to do a musical episode of ‘Bad Education’.
The 29-year-old actor starred as Stephen Carmichael in the hit BBC Three school-based comedy series alongside comedian Jack Whitehall and now that the sitcom is returning for a festive special where he will get to perform original songs and choreography, Layton has shared his “excitement” at the comeback.
He told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “I’ve been rooting for a musical episode from day dot. I’m excited for people to see the cast in a different light, like Jack Whitehall sing- ing and dancing-ish. I would say ish.”
Layton started his career when he played the title role in ‘Billy Elliot: The Musical’ in the West End and went on to perform musical numbers as Kylie Parkinson in the comedy series ‘Beautiful People’ but he is currently taking part in ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, where on Saturday’s (02.12.23) episode, he and professional partner Nikita managed to get a perfect score of 40 from the judges.
He later took to social media where he shared that he “hoped” he was doing the musical theatre industry “proud” with his time on the show so far.

Kaleb Cooper says Jeremy Clarkson is ‘still useless’ at farming

OHMYGOSSIP — Kaleb Cooper says Jeremy Clarkson is “still useless” at farming.
The ‘Clarkson’s Farm’ star doesn’t “want to” give his Amazon Prime Video farming show co-star “too much praise” for his abilities in rural pursuits after they have worked together on Diddly Squat for three series and counting.
The 25-year-old TV star told Metro newspaper’s Sixty Seconds column: “He’s still useless. I don’t want to give him too much praise.”
Kaleb begrudgingly admitted that Jeremy had not only improved but that they had “learnt things” off each other as in exchange for farming tips, the ex ‘Top Gear’ star, 63, was mentoring him through the world of showbiz.
He said: “I hate answering this question because it pains me to say he’s not a bad pig farmer. Ok, he doesn’t listen very often, but I think we’ve learnt things off each other. I’m teaching him farming, hopefully, if he listens, and he’s teaching me the world of TV – and I’m grateful for that and what a great teacher to have on that road.”
The ‘World According to Kaleb’ author – who is engaged to his long-time love Taya after they welcomed two kids together, Oscar, two and Willa, six months – loves doing meet and greets with his fans as he is “just a really chatty person” and loves having a natter with anyone.
Kaleb said: “A lot of people chat away but one of the reasons I’m going on tour is that I just keep on talking and talking. I’m just a really chatty person and love speaking to people about what they do and where they live.”
He confessed that he would “be fine” with all the gross bugs on ‘I’m A Celebrity…. Get Me Out of Here’ – which is currently airing nightly on ITV1 – but would not like any programme featuring balloons.
Kaleb said: “I’m really happy with ‘Clarkson’s Farm’ but time will tell if I do anything else. I’d be fine with all the creepy crawlies on ‘I’m A Celebrity’. As long as there aren’t any balloons. Just don’t tell anyone that.”

Paul Burrell feared drowning training for The Real Full Monty

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Burrell feared he would drown after signing up for ‘The Real Full Monty’.
The ex-royal butler – who worked for the late Princess Diana before she died aged 36 in 1997 – struggled when he was taken to a swimming pool to learn how to get out of the boat with the rest of the cast of the ITV1 like drag performer Ella Vaday, 35, Vanessa Bauer, 27, Pete Wicks, 35, and Gemma Collins, 42, who dubbed him a “bigger drama queen than” herself.
The 65-year-old TV star told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “There’ll be some shots of me walking down Wimbledon High Street naked — that was challenging.
“I can’t swim either, but they forgot to ask me that, and then we went to Lakeside, I thought we were going shopping. We weren’t, we were going swimming. Trying to get me out of the boat and into the water was the biggest mission.
“I was screaming. Gemma Collins shouted, ‘Shut up, you old tart, you’re a bigger drama queen than me!’. Thankfully, I had a life jacket on.
“I got in the water and I was towed ashore by the two Ashleys before being landed like a beached whale on the bank. I thought they might harpoon me at one stage.”
Paul attributed to appearing on this year’s ‘I’m A Celebrity: All Stars’ – which included other stars such as Carol Vorderman, 62, Helen Flanagan, 33, Janice Dickinson, 68, and many others camping in the South African jungle – for helping him nip prostate cancer in the bud as he “would never have known” about it.
He said: “If I hadn’t been doing the jungle, I would never have known, and I would be in the late stages now.
“I could have been gone now and not even known what was wrong with me.”

Corrie star Sean Wilson announces huge career change almost 20 years after quitting the ITV soap

OHMYGOSSIP — Sean Wilson wants to make a documentary about cheese.
The 58-year-old actor played Martin Platt on the ITV1 soap opera ‘Coronation Street’ from 1985 until 2005 but later set up the Saddleworth Cheese Company and is interested in fronting a television programme about the dairy product.
He told The Daily Star newspaper: “I’ve got an idea for a documentary about my cheese business and I’ve got an idea for a series where I go to inner-city communities where people are struggling, and then get to know people. I’ve had conversations with a producer and Discovery Channel are looking at some proposals which I’ve put together. There are loads of ideas flying around
The former soap star previously explained that cheese is his “passion” in life as he explained the kind of cheeses he makes as part of the business.
Speaking on ‘The Graham Norton Radio Show’, he said: “Cheese is my passion, and I make Lancashire cheeses, so they’re very much under the banner of territorial cheeses, which then takes you to the history of British cheese. We have Lancashire, Cheshire, Wensleydale, Stilton, double Gloucester and your single Gloucester and then Cheddar. They’re Britain’s oldest cheeses.”
Earlier this year, Sean explained he would be open to a return to ‘Coronation Street’ although the writers don’t appear to have shown any interest but explained how his time on the soap opera eventually led to his current passion.
He told the Manchester Evening News newspaper: “I made it clear that I could be turned but now it’s 2023 and nothing has happened.
“The writers decided to send me to New Zealand so maybe they’re trying to tell me something. When I worked on ‘Corrie’ I had my own pad and I was lucky enough to be friends with chefs through ‘Coronation Street’ and I learned about cheeses, which started in France.”

I’m A Celeb’s Frankie Dettori reveals why he didn’t want to spend another week in the jungle

OHMYGOSSIP — Frankie Dettori would have struggled to spend another week on ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’
The 52-year-old jockey – who has Leo, Ella, Mia, Tallula, and Rocco with wife Catherine – had been taking part in the ITV1 jungle reality show in Australia but was the first voted out by the public on Sunday’s (03.12.23) episode and hinted upon his exit that his co-stars like ‘This Morning’ host Josie Gibson or politician Nigel Farage are far more likely to reach the final than he ever would have been.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Good Morning Britain’, he said: “It was a bittersweet moment. I obviously wanted to get to the final but because there’s like Sam [Thompson], [Nigel] Farage Tony [Bellew], Josie [Gibson] and Marvin [Humes], I was never going to win it.
“So the thought of spending one more week there maybe was going to be a bit hard for me so it was bittersweet. The sweet part is that I got to see my wife and now I’m waiting for my other campmates to come out and greet them when they come out.”
The sports star then spoke in favour of politician Nigel Farage as he noted that while he never got to talk politics with the former Brexit Party leader, he knew him before and hailed him as a “larger than life” character.
He said: “I met Nigel before I went into the jungle, he’s a character larger than life. He’s very interesting, he’s very knowledgeable and he’s actually a good lad. I never spoke to him about politics because I’m not interested , I don’t know that world. But when it comes to one-on-one as a person, he’ was always good fun.”
However, Frankie went on to add that he believes that ‘Made in Chelsea’ star Sam Thompson will become win the series and become King of the jungle.
He said: “I would say my bet would be Sam. he brings a lot to the table, he;s entertaining, he’s silly, he sings and I think people will like all that.”

Jason Momoa takes pride in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom writing credit

OHMYGOSSIP — Jason Momoa is “extremely proud” of his writing credit on ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’.
The 44-year-old actor has helped pen the script for the concluding picture in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) – in which he reprises his role as Arthur Curry/Aquaman – and is delighted to have helped craft the story for a character he adores.
Speaking at the CCXP convention in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Sunday (03.12.23), Jason said: “It’s pretty much all me, and I love it. I’m extremely proud of it.
“There’s a lot of things you want to do and fulfil as an actor, and also for the fans, and for myself. When we finished the first one, I had a lot of ideas. And I started to put them down, just put down in my heart and my love for the character.”
The ‘Game of Thrones’ actor also recalled the “nerve-wracking” experience of pitching his ideas to director James Wan and bosses from both DC and Warner Bros.
Jason said: “I’ve never done that before. I pitched my own idea but I’m like, ‘They can’t fault me on this, because I love this character and I’ve played it for so long. Here’s some ideas that I would like to do.’
“And they responded really well to it, and then James liked a lot of ideas, and then they took that and ran with it and took it another level.”
The movie is set for release later this month and Wan previously revealed that climate change will feature as a key plot point in the superhero sequel.
The 46-year-old filmmaker told The Hollywood Reporter: “I think people are going to be excited to see that this movie is quite different from the first movie in terms of tone. It’s a little bit more serious, and we’re dealing with issues like climate change.
“We’re not afraid to lean into that in a big way, because the ‘Aquaman’ comic book, even way back when, has always been environmentally conscious. He’s always been someone who’s fought to keep the ocean clean, and it feels more relevant in the world that we’re living in today.
“So this movie has something to talk about, but it’s still a fun action-fantasy movie.”

‘Crying out to be adapted’: Edgar Wright is actively developing The Running Man reboot

OHMYGOSSIP — Edgar Wright’s reboot of ‘The Running Man’ is in active development.
The 49-year-old director is working on a movie based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name and has promised that his take will be more faithful to the story than the 1987 dystopian flick that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Edgar told the Happy Sad Confused podcast: “‘The Running Man’ is something that is in active development.
“Why is that interesting to me? It’s like, I like the film but I like the book more, and they didn’t really adapt the book. Even as a teenager when I saw the Schwarzenegger film I was like, ‘Oh, this isn’t like the book at all!’ And I think, ‘Nobody’s done that book.'”
The ‘Hot Fuzz’ director felt that the picture was “crying out” for the big screen treatment and he jumped at the chance when approached by fellow filmmaker Simon Kinberg.
Edgar said: “So when that came up, I was thinking, and Simon Kinberg says, ‘Do you have any interest in ‘The Running Man?’ I said, ‘You know what?’ I’ve often thought that that book is something crying out to be adapted.’
“Now, that doesn’t mean that it’s easy! But it’s something that we are working on, yes. I’ll tell you that much.”
Meanwhile, Edgar recently urged big Hollywood franchises to “take a breather and let people get excited” about the output.
The ‘Last Night in Soho’ director claimed that some film franchises have to be mindful of “killing the golden goose” through oversaturation.
He said: “I wish some franchises would just kind of have the sense to just take a breather and let people get excited about it again.
“I feel like there are certain things that I loved that I don’t want to see again, or I don’t want to see them again for a long time.”

Loose Women’s Judi Love found it ’empowering’ to be able to open up about her dyslexia

OHMYGOSSIP — Judi Love found it “empowering” to open up about her dyslexia on ‘Loose Women’.
The 43-year-old comedienne is a regular on the ITV1 chat show and during a special episode last week, she joined Christine McGuinness, Nadia Sawalha, and Denise Welch as part of an episode focusing on neurodiversity.
Writing in her OK! Magazine column, she said: “Last week we did a special ‘Loose Women’ show all about neurodiversity and I was nervous but also excited. Speaking honestly about my own dyslexia was empowering and refreshing and the feedback was beautiful.
The TV star went on to add that she used to worry that no one would understand her struggles with the learning condition – which affects the skills involved in accurate and fluent word reading and spelling – but reassured fans that there is nothing wrong with speaking out and getting support.
She added: “Sometimes it’s so easy to think that you’re different and no one will understand you. But they did, and it’s a pleasure to know that we can encourage others to feel that it’s OK to speak out, get support and live in their truth. We’re all different but we are unique and enough.”
Meanwhile, Judi gave her take on the current goings-on on ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here’ and admitted she was “sad” to see the sudden exits of food critic Grace Dent and Britney Spears’ sister Jamie Lynn, both of whom quit the ITV1 jungle reality series over health concerns as she spoke up for YouTube star Nella Rose.
Judi said: “It was an eventful week on I’m A Celebrity… and I was sad to see Grace Dent and Jamie Lynn Spears both leave – I still haven’t got a favourite to win yet.
“The controversy around Nella Rose has been difficult, and it’s painful to read the disgusting racist and body-shaming comments online.
“It’s crazy that people forget she’s a young woman immersed in one of the biggest reality celebrity shows in the UK. Let’s hope that over the next few weeks we get to see more of the contestants living their true unedited experiences!”

Ncuti Gatwa is ‘nervous’ for his ‘Doctor Who debut

OHMYGOSSIP — Ncuti Gatwa is “nervous” but “so ready” for people to see him in ‘Doctor Who’.
The 31-year-old actor feels like he has already been the titular role in the long-running BBC sci-fi series – which has seen returning writer Russell T. Davies, 60, return to the showrunner seat – for so long despite his debut being still to come on Christmas Day and has to “hold off” going into full detail about his time in the role with companion Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson).
He told the Big Issue magazine: “It’s felt like I’ve been the Doctor and also had to hold off from being the Doctor for most of the last two years.
“So how do I feel about people seeing it? I feel ready. But I’m sooooo nervous.”
Ncuti went on to add that the the return of David Tennant – who played the role between 2006 and 2010 before Matt Smith, took over – “a nice little lead-in” before him because he was “a great inspiration” to him as kid dreaming of working as an actor growing up in Scotland.
He said: “A nice little lead-in for me! It feels like it’s come full circle – because David was my Doctor and such a great inspiration to me as an actor.
“I would have been 13 – a pivotal time. And firstly, he’s Scottish. Plus he was so charismatic and fun – I mean all the Doctors have been fun, all the way back.
“Well, I don’t know if you can say that about William Hartnell. Maybe he wasn’t fun. But David had such a Scottish almost feral-ness to him, which is what I liked. I felt an affinity to that. So for him, of all people, to be handing the baton over – it just feels really surreal.”
The former ‘Sex Education’ star also gushed about how the cause of the magazine – which seeks to help people experiencing homelessness to get back on their feet – because he knows it “can happen to anyone”.
