Adrian Chiles would do Strictly Come Dancing again with Oti Mabuse

OHMYGOSSIP — Adrian Chiles would return to ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ if he was partnered with Oti Mabuse.
The 56-year-old broadcaster – who has already graced the dancefloor as part of the festive edition of the star-studded BBC One Latin and ballroom competition with professional partner Jowita Przystal, 29, in 2021 – feels he “would be in safe hands” with the 33-year-old professional dancer who left the programme after the “traumatic” rehearsal schedule he endured when he first appeared and who he teamed up over the weekend on ‘My Life’ At Christmas on the same channel.
He told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “Oti’s a brilliant teacher, and I know I would be in safe hands if she ever decided to return to Strictly as one of the professionals – count me in.
“That doesn’t mean it wasn’t traumatic the first time, though. I was so nervous I can’t recall meeting Oti, although she assures me we did.”
Oti – who is currently expecting her first child with her husband Marius Lepure after departing the show in 2022- recently shared about how “hard” and “overwhelming” competing to impress the judges Shirley Ballas, 63, Anton Du Beke, 57, her sister Motsi Mabuse, 42, and Craig Revel-Horwood after she left the show following her two wins with ex ‘Emmerdale’ star Kelvin Fletcher, 39, and comedian Bill Bailey, 58, in 2019 and 2020 respectively.
She told the ‘All Change’ podcast in September: “Luckily, my husband again has been an amazing person who has seen the dark days, the days where I’m in the shower crying with my clothes on because it’s so hard and it’s so overwhelming.
“He’s seen me not eat, he’s seen me overeat, he’s seen me struggle with not being able to get the best out of someone. He’s seen me having to deal with interesting personalities.”
“So, he’s the person that’s seen the behind the scenes at the point where I’d got to where I was like, ‘I think I’m finished.’ He was like, ‘Yeah I think there’s this new thing that’s got a fire in your stomach. When you’re hosting or talking to people you’re a completely different person.”
“I came from the biggest show on television. Every single human being on this planet, in this country, loves Strictly. People are obsessed.”

Doctor Who showrunner Russell T. Davies teases Christmas episode is complete ‘reinvention’ of show

OHMYGOSSIP — Russell T. Davies has teased the ‘Doctor Who’ Christmas episode will be a complete “reinvention” of the show.
The showrunner insisted the festive special, which will mark Ncuti Gatwa’s first adventure as the Timelord opposite his companion Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson) won’t be a total “reboot” of the franchise, but it will mark the beginning of a “new era”.
He told SFX Magazine: “It’s completely a reinvention. Reinvention of the show, brand new, but not a reboot, it’s the same old show, everything starts again, everything’s seen through the eyes of Ruby Sunday and it’s that love feeling of here we go, a new era beginning. Lovely.
“[It] kind of goes into territory we’ve never touched before. In many ways that’s more … fresher than special two. We’ve never done this before.”
Russell insisted even viewers with no real knowledge of the series will be able to tune in and enjoy the story, which is titled ‘The Church on Ruby Road’ and will also feature Davina McCall as herself.
He explained: “It’s [the Christmas Special] completely freestanding and indeed when the series starts, you can watch that from scratch and yet faithful viewers … It’s unashamedly the story of Ruby, it’s called ‘The Church On Ruby Road’ because that’s where the church is where Ruby is left as a baby in 2004.
“So she’s named after that church. She’s a foundling, so no one knows who her mother or father is. She is named after the church on Ruby Road which does carry over into the series itself.”
And he’s promised a hugely satisfying conclusion to Ruby’s story.
He teased: “Not every question is answered in the Christmas Special, and that continues all the way through to the most magnificent finale ever shot on planet Earth. No hype! I swear that’s true.”
‘Doctor Who’ can be streamed on BBC iPlayer and Disney+.

He said in a statement: “I’m beyond excited to have begun filming the second series of Beyond Paradise. ‘Shipton Abbott’ is such a wonderful location to call home for a while and it’s a delight to join up with my fellow police team for another batch of weird and wonderful cases, and to see what’s in store for Humphrey and Martha in the next chapter of their lives.”
And BBC executives teased things are “only just getting started” for the show.

‘It always stuck in my mind’: Zack Snyder had the idea for Rebel Moon in college

OHMYGOSSIP — Zack Snyder first came up with the idea for ‘Rebel Moon’ as a college student.
The 57-year-old filmmaker is helming the two-part space opera and explained that the concept first entered his mind when he was in the classroom.
Zack told Total Film magazine: “It came from a pitch class I had at college. I said it was like a cross between ‘The Dirty Dozen’ and ‘The Magnificent Seven’ set in space.
“Part of the conversation was: ‘Why would Hollywood say no to your idea?’ And no one could think of a reason. It always stuck in my mind.”
‘Rebel Moon’ has been split into two parts – with the first movie slated for later this month and the sequel ‘Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scaregiver’ to follow in April 2024 – and screenwriter Shay Hatten explained that there is a “different flavour” to each picture.
He said: “They definitely have their own feel, the two movies.
“We worked to divide them to make sure they each felt like their own proper experience. So it is one macro story being told, but they both have their own flavour.”
Snyder is expanding the ‘Rebel Moon’ franchise beyond the two big-screen adventures and declared that he is the “gatekeeper” for what’s to come.
The ‘Man of Steel’ director said: “I’m the gatekeeper for what’s possible. I’m the only one who knows where the whole story is going, and I do have it mapped all the way.
“We’re doing a narrative podcast, and an animated comic book, and an animated series. They all take place before the events of the movie. So you can start to understand the vastness of the mythology that we’ve been working on.”

Adam Driver gets reminded of THIS Star Wars scene ‘every day’

OHMYGOSSIP — Adam Driver is reminded “every day” that he killed Han Solo.
The 40-year-old actor portrayed Kylo Ren in the final ‘Star Wars’ trilogy and though it has been eight years since his villainous alter ego murdered his dad – who was played by Harrison Ford -in 2015’s ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’, fans still want to talk about it.
During an appearance on ‘Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace’, the host mentioned the movie’s shocking ending, and Adam said: “Somebody reminds me about that every day.
“Not every day, but yeah. It used to be more, but now it’s probably once a month someone will let me know that I killed Han Solo.”
Adam reflected on filming the scene, and admitted it wasn’t necessarily “tough” but it was “very emotional actually” and he praised his “generous” co-star for guiding him through the moment.
He said: “Harrison was so generous and contemplative, and to me, that was a great moment on set, even though it was his death.”
The ‘Marriage Story’ actor previously admitted he “felt sick to [his] stomach” when he went to the ‘Force Awakens’ and sat waiting for the audience to see the dramatic finale.
He told GQ magazine in 2017: “The people behind me, when the scroll started, were like ‘Oh my god. Oh my god. It’s happening.’ Immediately, I thought I was going to puke.
“I was holding my wife’s hand, and she’s like, ‘You’re really cold. Are you OK?’ Because I just knew what was coming – I kill Harrison – and I didn’t know how this audience of 2,000 people was going to respond to it, you know?”

Claudia Winkleman quits BBC Radio 2

OHMYGOSSIP — Claudia Winkleman has quit her BBC Radio 2 show.
The 51-year-old presenter – who has Jake, 20, Matilda, 17, and Arthur, 12, with husband Kris Thykier – has hosted the Saturday mid-morning show for almost three years and today (01.12.23) she announced during the programme she will be stepping down in March, with Romesh Ranganathan set to take over.
Apologising for “such a boring cliche”, she told listeners: “Time is going too fast, my daughter is getting ready to leave home and she was three about five minutes ago.
“I still have a little one who wants to be with me, don’t know how long that will last, and I just need to be at home more.
“So my news at 10 is that I am leaving.”
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ host later added in a statement that she will “miss” the show but thinks Romesh is a “brilliant” choice to take over.
She said: “I absolutely love Radio 2 and it’s been a privilege to host the Saturday morning show for three years. I will miss our amazing guests, our brilliant listeners and the one and only Sally Traffic.
“The truth is my children are growing up inordinately fast so I have decided to follow them around at home before they leave for good. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who works on the show, I will continue to visit with badly made biscuits and will pester the bosses to present the odd special.
“I couldn’t be happier that Romesh is taking over Saturday mornings on Radio 2. He is brilliantly laugh out loud funny, and I’ll listen every single week as my kids beg me to leave them alone.”
Meanwhile, Romesh joked he is “grateful” to get to spend more time away from his own family.
He said in a statement: “In my many years working as a maths teacher thinking ‘What would happen if I gave this up’, I never imagined I’d be sandwiched between Dermot O’Leary and Steve Wright on the UK’s most popular radio station every Saturday morning.
“I’m grateful to Claud for wanting to spend more time with her kids, and enabling me to spend less time with mine, and I look forward to finding out what the nation is up to at that time, as well as speaking to some familiar faces. It’s going to be fun. Probably.”

Dame Esther Rantzen ‘joined Dignitas’ after cancer diagnosis so she can have a ‘good death’

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Esther Rantzen “joined Dignitas” after being diagnosed with cancer so she could end her life without pain.
The 83-year-old presenter was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in January and is determined to have a “good death” so signed up for the controversial Swiss clinic in order to avoid spending her final days “dominated by pain”.
Writing in The Times’ Weekend magazine, she revealed: “I rang my local surgery to tell them my diagnosis and ask if they had links to a hospice nearby. I spoke to someone who was not my usual doctor, and when I explained my situation he accused me of ‘catastrophising’. Slightly harsh, I thought.
“So I didn’t share with him the fact that I had joined Dignitas in case things got rough and I needed to fly to Zurich to end my life there.
“I can’t say my medical friends approve of that, but I know that having a bad death, one dominated by pain and other horrible symptoms, is dreadful for loved ones to witness, and that memory becomes a barrier blocking out other, happy ones.
“So I’m determined to do everything I can to try to achieve a good death, including flying to Zurich for a quick lethal dose of something, if necessary.”
When she was first diagnosed with the disease, the former ‘That’s Life’ host admitted she didn’t expect to still be alive to see this Christmas, but has been amazed at the advance in treatment.
She wrote: “Frankly, I didn’t think I’d last this long. I’d had friends, like the wonderful Alan Coren, still greatly missed, who had been diagnosed with lung cancer then left us very swiftly, so last January I assumed that I would probably not be around for my birthday in June and that I’d definitely miss this Christmas.
“But when I met my oncologist I realised how ignorant I was and what gargantuan strides medicine has made recently.
“He told me that I could be treated. That having analysed my lump they would put me on a targeted medication: one pill a day with no serious side-effects.
” And that while it couldn’t cure my cancer, it could hold it back and delay it. Extraordinary news. And I’m still on that tablet and I’m still here.
“And when I last saw my oncologist and asked him if I am likely still to be around at Christmas he said, ‘I’d be very disappointed if you aren’t.’ ”
To prepare for her death, Esther is trying to sort through all her possessions but gets easily distracted so will leave a lot of the sorting to be done after she’s passed away.
She wrote: “Am I ready to go? Yes and no. The will is written, ramshackle furniture has been given away and old bits of technology have been dumped or recycled, but the barn is still full of boxes of files and scripts and photographs I should have sorted, filed or shredded long ago.
“But each box I open is so crammed with memories that once I start, I’m still reading it three hours later when I should have consigned it to a skip and moved on. I’ve decided to leave it all to my daughters to sort out.”

Nigel Harman reveals why he left Strictly Come Dancing: ‘I’m high on painkillers!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Nigel Harman had to leave ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ after sustaining a rib injury.
The 50-year-old actor had been taking part in the BBC Latin and ballroom competition alongside professional partner Katya Jones, 34, but pulled out of the series just hours before the live show on Saturday (02.12.23) after trying to perform a stunt in rehearsals.
Speaking to hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman during the live show, he said: “I was leaping off a rostrum and was about to be caught by some very handsome men. And, as I flew, I was Peter Pan and as I landed, I was in A+E. So, I’ve done something to my rib basically and it’s quite painful and I’m a little bit high on painkillers as well, but I’m having a lovely time!
“I’ve loved it, I’ve loved it and I’m loving it. It’s too soon to say ‘loved’.It hasn’t really sunk in. When I watched everyone come down the stairs, I was like ‘Oh, this is real, I’m not part of this anymore’. I’ve been avoiding Katya all day because that makes it really real.”
Nigel and Katya had been due to perform the Charleston to ‘Step in Time’ from ‘Mary Poppins’, which the soap star had previously teased was a much more complex routine than he had done in earlier weeks.
Nigel’s professional partner broke down in tears as she admitted she had “loved every moment” of her time with the former ‘EastEnders’ actor – who has an 11-year-old daughter with wife Lucy Liemann – and noted how “proud” his family will be of him of his journey on the show.
She said: “It’s quite hard to talk right now, I’m not going to lie. But I have absolutely loved every moment of us creating magic on the dancefloor, I know the reasons you did this is for your daughter and your parents. I know they will be very proud of you and I hope you got something out of this that you’re going to cherish forever, other than your broken rib!”
Nigel is known for his role as consultant Max Cristie on the BBC medical drama ‘Casualty’ and after the news broke that he had had to leave the dance show, the cast and crew jokingly welcomed him into the fictional department at Holby City Hospital for treatment.
A message posted onto the show’s Instagram page read: “Sending our love to Nigel Harman. Everyone at #Casualty is wishing you a speedy recovery! You’re welcome in the E.D, we will take care of you.”
At the top of the show, hosts Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly confirmed that no public vote will take place in the wake of Nigel’s exit.
Claudia said: “As you can see, we only have four couples. Unfortunately, Nigel has suffered an injury which means he is unable to perform in tonight’s show and has had to withdraw from the competition. That means there will be no public tonight, and no elimination this weekend.”
This means that former ‘Coronation Street’ actress Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola along with tennis legend Annabel Croft and Johannes Radebe, West End star Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin as well as ‘EastEnders’ actor Bobby Brazier and Dianne Buswell are automatically through to next week’s semi-final.
Tess then revealed that the scores given in this week’s show will still count and will be carried over before voting resumes as normal in the next stage of the competition.
Tess said: “The judges will still be scoring and those scores will be carried over. You’ll be able to vote as usual next week.”

I’m A Celebrity’s Tony Bellew TRIUMPHS in ‘disgusting’ trial that sees him enter a replica snake

OHMYGOSSIP — Tony Bellew managed to get nine out of 10 stars during his trial on Saturday (02.12.23) night’s episode of ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’
The 41-year-old boxer had been voted by viewers of the ITV1 jungle survival show to face ‘Eaten Alive’ in an effort to win meals for camp and was seen having to squeeze himself into a replica of a snake during the “disgusting” task.
Ant explained: “Tony, this is Eaten Alive. You are going to be eaten alive by this giant snake. Once you’re inside the snake you’ve got to make your way through its digestive system and out through the other end, out through its rectum.
“The stars are hidden in and amongst all of the intestines. There are 10 stars and you’ve got 10 minutes to find them. Every star in the star bag at the end of time is a meal for camp.”
Dec added: “However, there might be a few surprises along the way. You can stop the Trial at any time by saying ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’
“And we’ll get you out there. But that means you’ll forfeit any further stars. You don’t have to do it. You can head back to camp. But you will be going back empty handed.”
The sports star – who has sons Corey, Cobey and Carter with wife Rachael Roberts – psyched himself up before taking part in the task and when asked by Ant asked him if he thought his boys would have voted for him, he claimed that “of course” theyu would have done.
Upon entering the snake, Tony found rotten fruit and veg in the area that was meant to represent the reptile’s digestive tract and ended up having to miss out on collecting the star there because of the smell.
In the end, Tony emerged from the snake’s rectum with a total of nine out of 10 stars.
Asked to sum up the trial in one word, he said: “Disgusting!”
In Sunday night’s episode, YouTube star Nella Rose will face her eighth trial after being voted by the public.
She declared: “This is b****** now!”
Ant and Dec also confirmed that the first elimination will take place tomorrow evening, and the vote for the public to keep their favourite celebrity in camp is now open.
‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’ continues Sunday at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX

Duchess Catherine’s Strictly visit

OHMYGOSSIP — Catherine, Princess of Wales, enjoyed a secret visit to the set of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ on Friday (01.12.23).
The royal paid a visit to the studio with her two youngest children, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five, and the trio watched the ‘Strictly’ stars rehearse for this weekend’s shows.

“There was a strict security lockdown on set and staff were told not to take any photos.
“The children were especially excited and got dressed up.
“They were thrilled to be on set and to meet their favourite celebrities.”
The royals were introduced to presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, and met professional dancers including Dianne Buswell and Nadiya Bychkova.

Bobby Brazier inundated with messages after Jade Goody tribute

OHMYGOSSIP — Bobby Brazier has been inundated with messages of support following his ‘Strictly’ tribute to his late mother.
The 20-year-old actor and his professional partner, Dianne Buswell, danced to ‘This Woman’s Work’ by Maxwell, as the song reminds him of losing his mother Jade Goody in 2009, and Bobby has received huge support from the public.
He told The Mail On Sunday newspaper: “There’s been a lot (of letters). I haven’t opened or read a lot of them but I’ve seen there’s been a lot of people writing.
“We connected to a lot of people and communicated and translated something and that’s what I wanted to do. I think that’s what happens when you dance authentically and from your heart. I’m really glad that that happened.
“It was a privilege. I knew that my couple’s choice had to be that. It was daunting before though because that song is perfect. So to touch perfection is daunting, but I’m really, really glad that I did.
“After every dance, everyone’s always really supportive and complimentary, but especially after last week. I definitely welcomed all the love.”
Speaking about Jade’s death before the dance, Bobby said: “It changed my life completely, I’d love to spend a day with her just to see where I get my smile from.”
Judges Shirley Ballas and Motsi Mabuse gave him standing ovations, while he received a score of 37 points for the performance.
Jade was just 27 when she died of cervical cancer in March 2009.

Tony Bellew’s children vote for him to compete in Bushtucker trials

OHMYGOSSIP — Tony Bellew’s children are voting for him to do the Bushtucker trials.
Rachael Roberts – who has children Corey, Cobey, Carter and Carson with the 41-year-old boxer – revealed their oldest sons have been voting for their dad to do the ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here’ trials as they “love to watch him suffer”.
Speaking about her husband, Rachael told The Mirror: “We’ve never watched any shows he’s done but we’re watching this. And the trials… I love watching him suffer!
“Ant plays the macho man, but he’s a big softie. I bet he’s more scared than he looks in the trials. In the snake trial, you could tell he was petrified and I’m sure he’ll get a bit of ribbing for that when he gets out. But he’s not a quitter. Joking aside, we’re all very proud of him.”
Meanwhile, Tony managed to get nine out of 10 stars during his trial on Saturday (02.12.23) night’s episode of ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’

Simon Pegg excited for Tom Cruise’s ‘third act’

OHMYGOSSIP — Simon Pegg wants to be “part” of Tom Cruise’s “third act”.
The 53-year-old actor has become good friends with his ‘Mission Impossible’ co-star and believes that once Tom is finished with his action movies, he will make more character driven films, which Simon hopes to be a part of.
He told The Independent newspaper: “I don’t know. I love working with Tom, and he’s really good fun to work with but I get the feeling that when Tom goes off and does other things, it’ll be a completely different thing.
“He has a whole other age to come in his career. He’s a very good actor, a very, very good actor — as we’ve seen in ‘Magnolia’ and ‘Jerry Maguire’… I think when he finally stops jumping off [stuff], he’ll have a third act. And yes, it’d be nice to be a part of that.”
Meanwhile, Simon – who is sober – has previously spoken about his past alcoholism and he admitted that watching his old movies is difficult because he can see the physical effects his drinking had on him.
He said: “I was never drunk on set. I might have had a nip in my trailer or something [but] my drinking was never to the detriment of my work.
“I can see the physical effects on myself. I can see where I’m a bit bloated and I don’t look very healthy. Films where I can see the effects of it on me are hard to watch because I just think, ‘Oh God, what are you doing? What are you thinking?’
“The things that dog you mentally, you can understand them, you can name them, you can get therapy, you can learn how to deal with them, but they never go away. It’s a constant thing.
“That was a period in my life when I wasn’t looking after myself and now that I am, it’s weird to get asked about it a lot and then have to go back in time. I’ve said what I needed to say. I’ve told my story.”

Baz Luhrmann has not watched Priscilla yet

OHMYGOSSIP — Baz Luhrmann has not watched ‘Priscilla’ yet.
While Baz directed the 2022 ‘Elvis’ biopic, he admitted he has been too busy to watch Sofia Coppola’s recent movie about Elvis Presley’s relationship with Priscilla Presley but insisted he is looking forward to it.
Baz, who is the head juror at the Red Sea Film Festival in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where ‘Priscilla’ is screening, told The Hollywood Reporter: “[Sofia is] a really good friend. I haven’t seen the film, I’ve just been so busy. But I’m dying to see it.
“Unfortunately, people think festivals are glamorous, but I’ll be watching three films a day in a dark room. That’s what I’m going to be doing. But I will see Priscilla at some point, believe you me!”
And, Baz has no issues with the two movies being released so close together.
He said: “Elvis’ life was so big in such a short time and is such an important part of the fabric of contemporary culture. But he has been somewhat removed from it. He’s sort of been turned into wallpaper and a joke. But all it does is say, if you want to look at the modern American epoch from the ’50s on, you can’t not look at the canvas of Elvis Presley’s life.
“I’m sure there’ll be many more films about Elvis and Priscilla told with other characters and told from very different points of view. Because it just proves the validity of the story in terms of culture in America.”

Baz Luhrmann would consider making an epic version of Elvis

OHMYGOSSIP — Baz Luhrmann is open to making an expanded version of ‘Elvis’.
The 61-year-old filmmaker has created an extended edition of his 2008 film ‘Australia’ in the TV series ‘Faraway Downs’ and revealed that he would consider doing the same thing with his biopic that starred Austin Butler as the King of Rock and Roll.
Speaking to Collider, Baz said: “With ‘Elvis’, it’s almost impossible to believe how big a life he lived in such a short period of time, for someone who died very early into his 40s.
“When I shot it, I absolutely shot quite the epic version of it, and it’s on record, me saying that there’s a four-hour cut. So, while the version that’s out there in the cinema played very, very well, not this year and maybe not next year, and maybe I won’t do it, but I do know that there’s a long-play version of that story that would definitely go down the same road as I did on this.”
Baz has been surprised at the level of interest in ‘Faraway Downs’ and thinks the same experiment could be applied to his other work – which includes ‘Romeo + Juliet’ and ‘Moulin Rouge!’.
He said: “It’s really amazing how much there is in it, from press and from people. People are so interested in what the difference between ‘Australia’ and ‘Faraway Downs’ is and what I’ve done.
“So, I don’t know, but there’s an energy around it, for sure.”
Luhrmann never feels that any of his movies are perfect but fears that he will “ruin” them if he does not relinquish creative control.
He said of his films: “I know when they’re working, but I don’t think any of them are perfect. If you didn’t take them away from me, I’d probably still work on them and probably ruin them, really. It’s a bit like a parent who over-parents.”

The ‘Only Way Is Essex’ co-stars tied the knot in a small, private ceremony in the UK on Friday (01.12.23) but are planning a huge, celebratory bash in Spain soon.
She wrote on Instagram: “1st December… we done a thing. After a challenging year. We decided we wanted to end the year happy, in love together as husband wife. wedding part 2 coming soon.”
Georgia also included a stunning picture of herself, Tommy and their son Brody.
The pair got engaged in February 2022, when after eight years together, Tommy popped the question during a romantic getaway to Mexico.
Tommy had a semicircle of roses and candles laid out for his partner as he asked for her hand in marriage in a hut on the beach.
