Absolutely Fabulous star Jane Horrocks hospitalised after slipping on black ice

OHMYGOSSIP — Jane Horrocks was rushed to hospital after a painful fall on her bike.
The 59-year-old actress, who played Bubble in ‘Absolutely Fabulous’, was left injured after she slipped on black ice during a bike ride in Brighton, and she has since taken to social media to reassure her fans that she is ok, while warning them of the dangers this time of year.
She wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “Just fallen off my bike on black ice in Brighton. In A+E now. It’s crazy busy.
“I haven’t experienced A+E for a very long time and it’s an eye opener. Be careful cyclists out there.”
In a later post, Jane explained what the incident had taught her.
She added: “Maybe these accidents occur to say Slow Down. We do so little of that, that sometimes it takes something stronger to enforce rest. I’m grateful for the guidance.”
Jane then praised a pair of strangers who assisted her after the nasty fall, as well as the “lovely” hospital staff.
She continued: ‘A lovely couple helped me when I fell. They got me a cup of tea and brought me home.
“Thank you to them and the lovely Scottish nurse who put my arm in plaster when all the other ‘plasterers’ had gone home.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Bloods’ star previously voiced her annoyance at TV bosses choosing to “churn out” the same actors for leading roles.
According to Deadline, when Jane was asked how she felt about Olivia Coleman, Lily James and Keeley Hawes, she admitted that she was irritated other performers are not given the chance to show off their talent on screens.
She said: “I think it’s a bit limiting for the audience to see the same crowd always coming on. I just feel sorry for the audience really that the commissioners and the producers are so short-sighted that they have to keep churning out the same people.”

David Jason returns for new Only Fools And Horses Christmas special

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir David Jason is returning for a new ‘Only Fools And Horses’ Christmas special.
83-year-old actor starred as Del Boy in the classic sitcom – which ran on and off from 1981 until 2003 – and he’s set to helm a new documentary for Channel 5 in his first major TV appearance since a hip replacement earlier this year.
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “It wouldn’t be Christmas without the Trotters, so this is a great way for viewers to get their ‘Only Fools’ fix.
“Producers were delighted when David was passed fit to appear following his surgery, so the special will be cushty for fans.”
The documentary will see him reveal his favourite festive episode, while breaking down iconic moments from the iconic show with some behind the scenes secrets from the seasonal specials.
He will be joined by Tessa Peake-Jones – who played Raquel – as well as famous fans such as newsreader Krishnan Guru-Murthy and ‘Dragons’ Den’ star Theo Paphitis.
Jason recently explained that the sitcom’s first run of episodes hadn’t received many viewers and the only reason they were given a second chance was because channel bosses were “desperate” to fill the screens with something.
Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine, he said: “Something happened with the television strike or whatever and they were desperate for something to go on. So we had done a series and it went out. Three people and their dog watched it, and that’s all it was.
“But because they were desperate for something to fill the airwaves, they grabbed hold of ‘Only Fools and Horses’ again, and put that on again.
“That thing. Because it came on a second time, people then, as I always say, you’ve got to give it time. So because of that, we managed to crack the code!”

Doctor Who taking ‘sly step’ away from science fiction in Christmas special

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Doctor Who’ will “take a sly step towards fantasy” with this year’s Christmas special.
Russell T Davies has admitted some fans of the BBC’s iconic sci-fi series won’t be happy with the genre shift he’s got planned for Ncuti Gatwa’s first full episode on Christmas Day after the showrunner took inspiration from the likes of ‘The Witcher’ and ‘Stranger Things’.
Speaking to Radio Times magazine, he said: “I was just a bit jealous that all those other shows were getting a bigger taste of the pie, so this Christmas the enemy is goblins.”
He confessed the fantasy influence while continue into the next full series, although science fiction remains at the show’s heart in other episodes.
He added: “The show is taking a sly step towards fantasy, which will annoy people to whom it’s a hard science-fiction show.
“Episode two next year is wildly fantasy. Completely making up scenarios on-screen that we’ve never been able to show before.
“But the following episode is proper hard science-fiction.”
‘The Church on Ruby Road’ will see Ncuti take centre stage as the Fifteenth Doctor alongside new companion Ruby Sunday, played by Millie Gibson.
The Christmas special will delve into Ruby’s backstory, but there will still be plenty of mystery heading into 2024.
Russell told SFX Magazine: “Not every question is answered in the Christmas special, and that continues all the way through to the most magnificent finale ever shot on planet Earth. No hype! I swear that’s true.”
Before then, David Tennant and Catherine Tate will conclude their own three-episode 60th anniversary comeback as the Fourteenth Doctor and Donna Noble, having already starred in ‘The Star Beast’ and ‘Wild Blue Yonder’ over the last couple of weeks.
On Saturday (09.12.23), ‘The Giggle’ will air with Neil Patrick Harris coming into the fold as the sinister Toymaker.

Fred Sirieix becomes third campmate to get boot from ‘I’m a Celebrity…’ in shock eviction

OHMYGOSSIP — Fred Sirieix is the third campmate to be evicted from ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’
In a shock exit, the ‘First Dates’ star, 51, followed Frankie Dettori and Nella Rose by getting the boot on Tuesday (05.12.23) from the ITV show.
He was kicked out after being left in the bottom two with ‘EastEnders’ actress Danielle Harold, 31, after a public vote for the latest elimination from the series.
After hearing he was getting ditched, Fred made his way out of the camp as he was cheered on by his fellow stars.
He said to hosts Ant and Dec as he reflected on his time on the show: “It’s like another life really.
“I found it quite easy because I really prepared myself mentally.
“When I did the challenges I found it quite easily actually because I was very focused.”
When asked about his rocky relationship with his Brexiteer campmate Nigel Farage, 59, on the show, Fred added: “It was great in the camp because Nigel is a doer and I am a doer, but there is a side of Nigel Farage that I cannot connect with and will never connect with.”
Fred was also embroiled in a row with YouTube influencer Nella Rose, 26, on the show.
Nella’s string of run-ins on the show also included a bust-up with Nigel, with her rows sparking 2,000 Ofcom complaints.
Nella erupted after Fred told her could “be her father” due to their 25-year age gap – which she said was disrespectful as hours earlier she had told the campmates that she had lost both her parents.

Margot Robbie rejected Oppenheimer producer’s Barbie release request

OHMYGOSSIP — Margot Robbie turned down an ‘Oppenheimer’ producer’s request to shift the ‘Barbie’ release date.
The two summer blockbusters were an unlikely pair at the box office earlier this year as they dropped on the same day in July, but she admitted she was asked to use her influence to move the date for Greta Gerwig’s film.
Speaking to ‘Oppenheimer’ star Cillian Murphy for Variety’s ‘Actors on Actors’ feature, she said: “One of your producers, Chuck Roven, called me, because we worked together on some other projects.
“And he was like, ‘I think you guys should move your date.’ And I was like, ‘We’re not moving our date. If you’re scared to be up against us, then you move your date.’
“And he’s like, ‘We’re not moving our date. I just think it’d be better for you to move.’ And I was like, ‘We’re not moving!’ ”
Neither film budged, leading to the ‘Barbenheimer’ craze with fans flocking to the cinema to see both movies despite them being seen as polar opposites.
‘Barbie’ became Warner Bros top earning film of all time with $1.4 billion worldwide, while ‘Oppenheimer’ became the most successful biopic ever with takings of $950 million around the world.
Margot was glad things worked out that way, and she pointed to the talent of respective directors as a reason for the high interest in both projects.
She added: “It’s a perfect double billing… Clearly, the world agreed. Thank God. The fact that people were going and being like, ‘Oh, watch Oppenheimer first, then Barbie.’
I was like, ‘See? People like everything.’ People are weird… I think they were also really excited by the filmmakers.
“People were itching for the next Chris Nolan film and itching for the next Greta Gerwig film. To get them at the same time was exciting.”

Angelina Jolie confirms Maleficent 3 return but hints she may quit acting

OHMYGOSSIP — Angelina Jolie has confirmed she has signed up for ‘Maleficent 3’.
The 48-year-old actress revealed a third film in the franchise – a follow up to the 2014 original and its 2019 sequel ‘Maleficent: Mistress of Evil’ – is in the works.
In a profile with the WSJ. magazine, Angelina confirmed she is to star in the third movie in the Disney series, but didn’t offer any other details about the project.
It’s not known whether Elle Fanning, who plays Briar Rose in the movie series, and Sam Riley, who portrays Diaval, will return for a third chapter.
Lesley Manville, Imelda Staunton, and Juno Temple also appeared in the first two films.
What’s more, Jolie hinted she might quit acting for good, and insisted she wouldn’t choose the same career if she had her time again.
She told the publication: “I wouldn’t be an actress today.
“When I was starting out, it wasn’t as much of an expectation to be as public, to share so much.”
Jolie – whose parents, Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand, were actors – also admitted she has “never” been “very impressed” with Hollywood after growing up around it.
She said: “I grew up in quite a shallow place. Of all the places in the world, Hollywood is not a healthy place. So you seek authenticity.
“I never bought into it as significant or important.”
But the star – who has children Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 18, Shiloh, 17, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 15, with her ex Brad Pitt – won’t stop working on other projects.
She said: “I can’t stop. I always think there’s a fight coming.”

Doctor Who boss Russell T Davies promises total ‘reinvention’ in Christmas special

OHMYGOSSIP — Russell T. Davies has promised the ‘Doctor Who’ Christmas special will be a total “reinvention”.
The upcoming festive episode ‘The Church on Ruby Road’ will see Ncuti Gatwa fully in charge as the Fifteenth Doctor alongside Millie Gibson as his new companion Ruby Sunday, and while the showrunner is keeping details close to his chest, he has offered a hint of what’s to come.
He told SFX magazine: “It’s completely a reinvention. Reinvention of the show, brand new, but not a reboot, it’s the same old show, everything starts again, everything’s seen through the eyes of Ruby Sunday and it’s that lovely feeling of here we go, a new era beginning.”
Russell teased that the Christmas Day (25.12.23) episode “kind of goes into territory we’ve never touched before”.
He added: “In many ways that’s more… fresher than special two. We’ve never done this before.”
The episode follows the conclusion of the 60th anniversary specials when the third episode ‘The Giggle’ airs on BBC One this Saturday (09.12.23), which will mark the final appearance returning star David Tennant.
The AGE-year-old actor – who played the Doctor between 2006 and 2010 – has been back for the anniversary alongside Catherine Tate as his companion Donna Noble.
Ncuti recently admitted that David’s return was “a nice little lead-in” before him because he was “a great inspiration” to him as kid dreaming of working as an actor growing up in Scotland.
He told The Big Issue magazine: “A nice little lead-in for me! It feels like it’s come full circle – because David was my Doctor and such a great inspiration to me as an actor.
“I would have been 13 – a pivotal time. And firstly, he’s Scottish. Plus he was so charismatic and fun – I mean all the Doctors have been fun, all the way back.
“Well, I don’t know if you can say that about William Hartnell. Maybe he wasn’t fun. But David had such a Scottish almost feral-ness to him, which is what I liked. I felt an affinity to that. So for him, of all people, to be handing the baton over – it just feels really surreal.”

The Traitors to return in January and air 3 nights a week

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Traitors’ is to return next month.
The BBC has confirmed the second series of the reality TV show will launch on Wednesday 3rd January at 9pm on BBC One, and episodes two and three will be available on iPlayer immediately afterwards.
It was also revealed ‘The Traitors’ will then air on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights throughout the second series.
The BBC has released a first-look picture of host Claudia Winkleman ahead of the hotly-anticipated return of the series.
In the first season of the game of bluff and deception, 22 strangers came together in a Scottish castle, and they faced daily challenges to increase the show’s prize fund up to a maximum of £120,000.
However, among the Faithfuls are three Traitors, and the group are tasked with eliminating one of their own in a bid to get rid of the Traitors.
The first series was jointly won by Faithfuls Aaron, Hannah and Meryl, who each took home a share of the £101,050 prize pot.
It was recently revealed the show will be back in “early 2024”, and a third series has already been confirmed ahead of the second season airing.
Applications – which close on 11 February 2024 – are open for people wanting to become one of the 22 strangers taking part.
Earlier this month Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment at the BBC, said: “The massive unscripted hit ‘The Traitors’ will be back for a third series.
“Expect to see more psychological gameplay, exciting challenges and of course Claudia at the helm.
“It will be a thrilling ride for both avid fans and newcomers to the series for sure. The BBC will always remain faithful to ‘The Traitors.’ ”
Studio Almbert CEO, Stephen Lambert, added: “We’re delighted a third series of ‘The Traitors’ has been confirmed today ahead of the second series’ arrival on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
“‘The Traitors’ has been so warmly received by viewers, critics and award juries alike.
“Claudia and the team look forward to keeping audiences on the edge of their seats again with ever more thrilling missions and exceptional players competing in this gripping game of bluff and skill.”

Nicola Thorp tells how she ‘lived in fear’ as her stalker is jailed for 30 months

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicola Thorp’s stalker has been jailed for 30 months.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ star was terrorised for two years by a stalker who called himself “the Grim Reaper”, and used 25 aliases to torment her online.
Nicola faced Ravinderjit Dhillon, 30, at East London’s Snaresbrook crown court on Tuesday (05.12.23), and he was jailed for 30 months.
According to The Sun newspaper, she said in an impact statement to the court: “I lived in fear that this anonymous man who had hounded me for years was in fact someone I knew.
“If you don’t know who the person behind the keyboard is, he becomes everyone you meet and everyone you’ve ever met.
“All that time he knew exactly who I was and I knew nothing of him.
“When I was shown a photo of him it meant I had some freedom back, and only the freedom to run away if I saw him in the street.”
Sentencing Dhillon, Judge Rosa Dean said: “Nicola Thorp was a total stranger to you. She is well known and she campaign’s for women’s rights.
“I am quite sure you targeted her because of her celebrity and in part due to her determination to call out abusive and misogynistic behaviour.”
Quentin Hunt, defending, told the court that Dhillon suffers from mental health problems, and said he suffered from schizophrenia and bipolar disorder and was sectioned in 2016.
Nicola previously gave an 89-page document to the Met Police about Dhillon’s campaign of terror, which began with him sending her an intimate image of himself in October 2018.
Police tracked him down using his IP address.
Earlier this year, Nicola, 35, told the court: “He became an army of men all wanting to do me harm, threats to rape me.
“I’ve spent most of my adult life fighting for the rights of women and doing so in the public eye has come with some personal cost.
“I became the target of the exact behaviour I was standing up against.”
She recalled messages sent by Dhillon describing himself as her “grim reaper”, adding: “He sent messages saying, ‘I’m going to be with you forever’, ‘I’m your grim reaper’. In one message he said 28 times he wasn’t going to leave me.”
In April, Dhillon was convicted of stalking the ex-‘Corrie’ actress involving fear of violence after a trial at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court.
He has an indefinite restraining order not to approach the cobbles star.

I’m A Celebrity camp ‘on course’ to be hit by ‘nightmare’ cyclone

OHMYGOSSIP — The ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ camp is “on course” to be hit by “nightmare” cyclone.
Bosses of the Ant and Dec-fronted ITV reality show are said to be on alert about 130mph Cyclone Jasper, which is expected to strike Australia this weekend.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Production are aware of the threat and the safety of the celebrities is their priority.
“ITV are watching Cyclone Jasper very closely. It has formed hundreds of miles off the coast but the storm is developing and intensifying by the hour.
“The safety of the celebrities is of the utmost importance to ITV and they are monitoring the situation.”
In a twist of fate, the storm is scheduled to hit when the final four stars take on the show’s famed Celebrity Cyclone challenge this weekend, ahead of Sunday’s (10.12.23) final.
The source added: “The timing could not be more apt, as the cyclone is on course to hit when the stars are taking on that very challenge.
“This year the celebs have had to endure pretty horrible weather and just as the sun started to shine, it’s all going south again.
“ITV are ready for any eventuality but, ultimately, Cyclone Jasper could be an absolute nightmare and wreak havoc. The team are watching and waiting with bated breath.”
Josie Gibson, 38, Sam Thompson, 31, Tony Bellew, 41, Nigel Farage, 59, Danielle Harold, 31, Nick Pickard, 48, and Marvin Humes, 38, are the only campmates remaining after Frankie Dettori, Nella Rose and Fred Sirieix were voted off the show this week, and Jamie Lynn Spears and Grace Dent both departed last week “on medical grounds”.

‘I’ve had some difficult moments!’ Sam Thompson’s mum talks ‘nerve-wracking’ I’m A Celebrity watch

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Thompson’s mum has found it “quite nerve-wracking” watching her son on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’.
The former ‘Made in Chelsea’ star has been a huge hit in the jungle this year, and while his mother Karen admitted it has been a hard watch at times, she is “incredibly proud” of his achievements Down Under.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Seeing your child so exposed is quite nerve-wracking for any mum, so I have had some difficult moments watching.
“Yet I’m incredibly proud of his achievements and of the way he hasn’t let his ADHD dull his ambitions – perhaps it drives him even more.”
While Sam has become a favourite on the show, he was recently blasted by his campmate Nigel Farage for not doing enough to help with daily tasks.
However, Sam later insisted that due to his recently-diagnosed attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), he can be “forgetful” at times.
He said in the Bush Telegraph: “I want to help the camp but I’m really forgetful, so I just won’t remember to do it.”
Karen admitted she will “secretly be happy and relieved” when Sam is “safely back home in one piece”, but she is hoping he is named King of the Jungle in this Sunday’s (10.12.23) finale.
Speaking about her plans to watch Sunday’s final with Sam’s girlfriend Zara McDermott, Karen added: “Obviously it would be incredible if Sam made it that far but we’ll watch it anyway.
“To win ‘I’m A Celebrity’ would mean the absolute world to Sam – it would be all his Christmases rolled into one.
“To be honest I can’t even imagine how excited he would be – we’d probably never hear the end of it!”

I’m A Celebrity’s Jamie Lynn Spears returns for Dancing with the Stars finale days after jungle exit

OHMYGOSSIP — Jamie Lynn Spears rocked up at the ‘Dancing with the Stars’ finale on Tuesday night (05.12.23), just days after leaving ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ on “medical grounds”.
The ‘Zoey 101’ actress took part in the ABC show’s 32nd season earlier this year, but she was the second start to be eliminated on October 3rd.
She then appeared in the Australia-based ‘I’m A Celebrity’ jungle on November 19th, but departed the series “on medical grounds” on November 29th.
Jamie has revealed she flew back to the US as soon as she was “medically cleared”.
She wrote on her Instagram Stories: “Took the first flight soon as I was Medically cleared!!!!! (sic)”
Jamie also shared a video in which she ran into the arms of her pro dance partner Alan Bersten.
But the singer and actress admitted she still didn’t feel her usual self.
She captioned the clip: “Still not 100 per cent, but I had to show up for my guy.”
Alan commented: “So happy you’re back!!!!! The best surprise (sic)”
Jamie – the sister of pop star Britney Spears – became the second contestant to quit the ‘I’m A Celebrity’ jungle early this series, after food critic Grace Dent had also left “on medical grounds”.
A spokesperson for the show said: “Jamie Lynn Spears has left ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ on medical grounds.
“She’s been a fantastic campmate who has triumphed at trials and bonded well with her fellow celebrities.”
The star had been in tears on several occasions during her time in camp as she struggled to adapt to jungle life Down Under, and she missed her daughters Maddie, 15, and Ivey, five.

Chris Hemsworth: Mad Max inspired me to become a movie star

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Hemsworth has revealed that watching George Miller’s ‘Mad Max’ inspired him to go into film.
The 40-year-old actor stars in the post-apocalyptic franchise’s prequel movie ‘Furiosa’ and explained how Miller’s work and the presence of Mel Gibson in the original 1979 flick “created the bridge” for Australians to succeed in Hollywood.
Speaking in conversation with filmmaker Baz Luhrmann at the Red Sea Film Festival in Saudi Arabia, Chris said: “I remember watching ‘Mad Max’ and have vivid memories of its messaging and the type of storytelling. It was a sort of iconic Australian vision, but post-apocalyptic and had this universal appeal.
“And then later on getting into acting and the fact that Mel Gibson was in the film as a young actor and created the bridge for a lot of Australians to go to America.”
Chris also explained how Miller hired “ex-criminals” as extras in ‘Furiosa’ and thinks the move demonstrated how generous he is behind the camera.
The ‘Thor’ star said: “A lot of the actors… some were ex-criminals, one was a Hell’s Angel, people who came from very colourful and complicated lives.
“He’d interview them and he wouldn’t get them to read the script, but ask them to tell him a story, tell him about their lives. All of a sudden there, like they were seen for the first time. So on the long days, going into battle, they were there for him.”
Hemsworth plays the antagonist Dementus in ‘Furiosa’ and explained how the ‘Babe’ director ensured that there was no “waste” during the making of the movie.
He said: “What was refreshing working with George is that every frame was thought out. Every single frame was necessary; it was servicing the whole. It was part of a grander plan and a message, and so there was no waste.”

Alfie Boe settles Die Hard Christmas debate

OHMYGOSSIP — Alfie Boe has proved that ‘Die Hard’ is a Christmas movie.
The 50-year-old tenor has teamed up with Disney+ and The Kingdom Choir to release ‘Ode to Die Hard’ – a new take on Beethoven’s piece that features in the original soundtrack of the 1988 action movie – to settle the annual debate as to whether the Bruce Willis-led flick is a festive film.
‘Ode to Die Hard’ celebrates the movie as a Christmas tradition and also explores why it sparks debate year after year.
New research from YouGov reveals that the nation is still divided over the Christmas question – and three-quarters (76 per cent) argue that it should be considered a festive film as New York City police detective John McClane is forced into action on Christmas Eve, with an additional 62 per cent highlighting that it is set at a Christmas party.
However, 33 per cent disagree that ‘Die Hard’ should be watched at Christmas and nearly a third of those polled (31 per cent) have argued about the picture’s status as a Yuletide film with friends, family, or colleagues.
Alfie said: “For me, ‘Die Hard’ is one of those movies I can watch over and over again; it’s timeless and definitely a Christmas classic. Everyone has their own view, I am sure, but for me, it has all the ingredients that make up a festive film, from the setting to the soundtrack.
“We thought this would be a fun way to get people into the Christmas spirit and acknowledge one of the most enduring Christmas debates once and for all. Is ‘Die Hard’ a Christmas movie? This song says it all. Everybody had a lot of fun making the track and I think that comes across, so I hope it brings a smile to anyone watching too!”

‘Meshed together in my head’: Jacob Elordi had no time to separate Saltburn and Priscilla

OHMYGOSSIP — Jacob Elordi admits that ‘Saltburn’ and ‘Priscilla’ “meshed together” in his head as he made the two movies just weeks apart.
The 26-year-old actor features in the psychological thriller as the wealthy Oxford University student Felix Catton and Sofia Coppola’s biopic as Elvis Presley and was unable to differentiate between the films.
Asked if the roles had anything in common, Jacob told Vanity Fair: “That’s a funny question. I made ‘Priscilla’ three weeks after ‘Saltburn’. So they’re strangely meshed together in my head because I’d shoot all day in London, and then I’d go home to my Elvis cave, which was my hotel room, which was sort of all pictures of Priscilla.
“But I think, other than both of them having a kind of ginormous house between Saltburn and Graceland, I’m not sure if Felix has too much of Elvis Presley in it.”
However, the ‘Kissing Booth’ star was grateful for the lack of time between the two pictures as he would have “overthought” the entire process otherwise.
The Australian actor said: “I think that the short time is what made it work for me in my head. If I’d had too long to worry about it, I would have been in a bit of strife because I would have overthought the whole thing.
“I had to do this British accent in ‘Saltburn’, so I got to lose that really quickly when I went into the Memphis drawl. But having the three weeks just gave me not a lot of time to worry about it.”
Jacob added: “But at the time before I’d started both of them, I thought it was going to be impossible because I’d gotten them around the same time.”

Joel Dommett ‘to host Netflix game show’

OHMYGOSSIP — Joel Dommett has signed up to front a new game show on Netflix.
The ‘Survivor’ host is said to be “really excited” to be adding another credit to his long list of TV achievements, which include the BBC reboot of the survival reality show, and ITV’s star-studded talent shows ‘The Masked Singer’ and ‘The Masked Dancer’.
Joel is expected to host a new, untitled secretive project with the streaming giant in the near future.
A TV insider told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “Joel is one of the most in-demand presenters right now and this just proves it.
“It’s rather unprecedented to be the star man across three networks but clearly he’s doing something right. Joel is really excited by the new show.”
Despite only hosting ‘Survivor’ rather than taking part in it, Joel, 38, still got in shape for the show.
He told the publication: “This was the opportunity to get into a routine for several weeks.
“I could train every day and eat well, stay on a real structure, and it’s really fun for me to do that.
“At the end of the show I was in the best shape I’ve been in for three or four years.”
This year’s National Television Awards host recently hit another milestone in his personal life when his wife Hannah Cooper, 32, gave birth to their first baby, a son named Wilde, in September.
Of the experience, Joel told the Daily Mirror last month: “Life’s been pretty crazy since I got back, me and Hannah were just enjoying our last few weeks together nesting. I was so worried she would give birth whilst we were away filming, so I was very pleased that didn’t happen. Now we have a new baby in our lives, alongside my other baby, ‘Survivor’!
“It’s amazing, it’s everything everyone says it will be and more. Nothing can prepare you for it. But we’re very happy as our new little family and Hannah has been beyond amazing.
“It’s so difficult, isn’t it? And you do get a lot of advice, and I’ve been reading all of the books and listening to all of the podcasts and things like that.”
