Annabel Croft voted off Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Annabel Croft has been voted off ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 57-year-old former tennis player and her partner Johannes Radebe narrowly missed out in a place in this year’s final after they found themselves facing Bobby Brazier and Dianne Buswell in the dance off, and the majority of the judges opted to send the ‘EastEnders’ actor into the final alongside Ellie Leach and Layton Williams.
After Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and Shirley Ballas opted to save Bobby, and Craig Revel Horwood voted for Annabel, the sports presenter paid an emotional tribute to her dance partner for helping her to “heal” in the wake of the death of her husband Mel Coleman, who died of cancer in May.
She said: “It’s been the most life changing and extraordinary experience of my life. I have to congratulate Bobby and Dianne and all the contestants that took part in it.
“But obviously, it’s been an amazing, magical experience for me.
“Johannes, you have been absolutely extraordinary. You have given me a reason to get out of bed and come and dance with you, distract me and to heal me. I can’t thank you enough for that. You have been so patient, so caring and so loving. You are an unbelievably special human being. I simply adore you. Thank you so much. ”
And Johannes declared his life to be much “richer” thanks to Annabel and her children.
She said: “I would like to say thank you. Thank you for making the decision to come here. Thank you to Strictly Come Dancing for sending her my way. My life is richer with you in it. I hope we dance long after this has ended. You know my heart and I just want to tell you thank you Annabel. Thank you Lily, thank you Amber, thank you Charlie.”
The episode also saw Take That perform their latest single, ‘This Life’.

Sam Thompson wins I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Thompson has won ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’
The former ‘Made in Chelsea’ star was named King of the Jungle on Sunday (10.12.23) and promptly jumped into the arms of runner-up Tony Bellew when hosts Ant and Dec announced the results, before admitting he was “overwhelmed” by the result.
He said: “I’m really overwhelmed, I didn’t think I’d even be invited on the show. I don’t know what to say.”
Asked what he had to say to those who had voted for him, he tearfully said: “I’m so grateful, thank you so much. I’ve dreamed of doing this show for years and years and you’ve made a boy’s dream come true.”
Tony wasn’t too disappointed to have finished second as he felt his new friend was a more than worthy winner.
He said: “10 days ago, I knew. I knew when I first met him, I’ve never met a person like him… He deserves it more than anything and I couldn’t be happier.”
Sam had been open about being a superfan of the show and admitted it was “100 times” better than he had expected it to be.
Interviewed alongside Tony ahead of the result, he was asked if it had lived up to his expectations and said: “It did so much more, I’ve never been so shocked in my life, times 100 everything, the little moments are the best moments as well. My favourite time in the entire jungle was when Snake Rock came back and we had the entire family back together… The vibe was so amazing and I thought, ‘I don’t think I’ve ever been as happy as I am now.’ ”
Meanwhile, boxer Tony admitted he had found life in camp “very, very difficult” so was thankful for his friendships with Sam and JLS singer Marvin Humes.
He said: “You’re alone with your own thoughts and my mind isn’t the best, it wasn’t easy. It was very very difficult and you think to yourself, ‘What am I doing here?’
“I definitely think I was put here to be around Sam and get to know him, Marvin was a huge part of it as well, I can’t believe he’s not sitting here.
“Everyone was amazing… I know this is called ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ but I’m not one of them, a celebrity and no one felt like a celebrity, they were just normal. It’s the first time in my life I’ve sat with a bunch of strangers and just thought, ‘You’re all sound people’. ”
Earlier in the evening, Nigel Farage was announced to have come third and admitted he was “absolutely thrilled” to have done so.
He said: “I’m not surprised [too be third], I’m absolutely thrilled..”
Asked about being a divisive figure, the former politician admitted he hoped he had shown his “human” side.
He said: “Not everyone like the stuff I campaign for but whatever you think, we’re all entitled to an opinion, I’m a human being like everyone else and I hope this has showed I’m as human as anybody – things I’m good at, things I’m bad at. I mucked in, I’ve thrown myself into camp life 100% and if you asked me would I do it again…I think I probably would.”

Timothee Chalamet is open to Wonka 2

OHMYGOSSIP — Timothee Chalamet is open to returning for a ‘Wonka’ sequel.
The 27-year-old actor stars as a young Willy Wonka in Paul King’s blockbuster musical movie, which tells the origin story of the character from Roald Dahl’s classic tale ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’.
And Timothee believes there is plenty more to his chocolate inventor character’s story for a second film.
Asked about a sequel, he told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “If there was a story to be told. And evidently there is.”
There is a whole 25 years that is blank before the late Gene Wilder’s Wonka in the 1971 version of ‘Charlie and The Chocolate Factory’.
The ‘Dune’ star said: “Something twisted happens.
“I don’t know how we started like this and end there – I don’t know what the story is.”
King insists the story could conclude where it is, but he too is interested in what happens next in Wonka’s world.
The filmmaker said: “We wanted to make a movie with a beginning, middle and end that wouldn’t feel like one of those things where you kinda go ‘Oh, I only just saw a quarter of the story.’ The movie is its own thing.
“It’s set 25 years before the factory – but like you said, there’s 25 years and plenty more things that happen to Willy Wonka.”
He recently told Total Film magazine: “I would definitely like to do more. And I’d like to spend more time in this world.
“Dahl was definitely interested in taking Willy Wonka on. There’s drafts that didn’t really go anywhere, and there’s a short story. He didn’t really write sequels, but this was the one book where he clearly felt there was more in the tank there.”
‘Wonka’ also stars the likes of Hugh Grant, Rowan Atkinson and Matt Lucas, and he admitted he would like to “meet some more Oompa Loompas.”

Bradley Cooper was in character as Leonard Bernstein for a year before shooting Maestro

OHMYGOSSIP — Bradley Cooper was in character as Leonard Bernstein a year before shooting his biopic ‘Maestro’.
The actor plays the legendary composer in the film which he wrote and directed acting opposite Carey Mulligan who played Bernstein’s wife Felicia Montealegre – and Carey has revealed Bradley was speaking in the composer’s voice in phone calls to her 12 months before they started filming.
She told Variety: “He did so much prep. He prepped to the point where he walked on set and didn’t have to think — like you say. And I think to be able to direct it and write it and star in it and all that stuff, he needed to get everything out of the way. So he was ringing me a year before in full Lenny voice and everything.”
She added: “I’d be putting the kids to bed, and I’d get a FaceTime with him as Lenny: ‘OK. Call you back, mate!'”
Carey added of the Netflix movie: “When he [Bradley] first offered me the job, he was like, ‘I want you to do this, but sort of on the proviso that you go and really give it everything’. Which I immediately thought in my head, ‘Not all in’.
“There was something about it. I thought, ‘Oh, crikey, that’s playing a real person.’ And playing someone who does have this quite interesting dialect. And there’s a real responsibility to their children who are a big part of this process. It was huge. But that was actually the only way to do it, was just to do the whole thing.”
It comes after it was revealed Bradley was so devoted to the part of Leonard Bernstein he spent six years learning how to conduct a six-minute piece of music for a scene in the film in which he worked with a real orchestra.
Speaking at a Q and A in New York City, Bradley said: “That scene I was so worried about because we did it live. That was the London Symphony Orchestra. I was recorded live, I had to conduct them. And I spent six years learning how to conduct six minutes and 21 seconds of music.”
The ‘A Star Is Born’ actor thanked his “wonderful teachers” for helping him to recreate Bernstein’s style with the baton. Bradley explained: “I was able to get the raw take where I just watched Leonard Bernstein (conduct) at Ely Cathedral with the London Symphony Orchestra in 1976. And so I had that to study. “And Yannick Nezet-Seguin [Music director of the Metropolitan Opera] made videos with all the tempo changes, so I had all of the materials to just work on.”

The Masked Singer UK raises the bar as 12 characters confirmed

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Masked Singer’ has landed “the best” singers so far for the next season.
The new series of ITV’s wacky panel show will see celebrities disguised as an Air Fryer, Eiffel Tower, Dippy Egg, Bigfoot, Weather, Owl, Rat, Chicken Caeser, Piranha, Bubble Tea, Cricket, and Maypole – and the bar has been raised for the fifth instalment.
Jude Rita Ora said: “The talent is fantastic. The voices on this series are the best I’ve ever heard and the personalities are so amazing.
“It’s one of my favourite things to do, I love the panel, I love having this job and I love doing this show. These guys are like family. And I’ve come back with better detective skills.”
Host Joel Dommett – who became a dad this year to baby boy Wilde Cooper-Dommett with wife Hannah Cooper – said: “It’s the best series and definitely my best because my first child arrived this year.
“I’m viewing it all in an entirely different way. That’s what happens when you have children.
“The costumes are the best ever. If they don’t make you smile, well, get out.”
Panellist Jonathan Ross is already guessing who he is behind the mask.
He commented: “My best guess this year is Ryan Reynolds. He’s in Wrexham a lot of the time now.
“Bubble Tea and Air Fryer make the show very modern. Those names weren’t in common conversation two or three years ago, now we’ve got them dancing on prime time ITV1.”
And fellow judge Davina McCall said: “For lots of singers, it’s overcoming a fear. It might be doing something to surprise their kids. It might be just for the hell of it.
“This series Weather is interesting. I’ve been looking through all the celebrity magazines to see who’s around at the moment. I’ve been doing my homework.”
Mo Gilligan added: “It’s good to be back.
“You are always second guessing who might be taking part.
“Is it someone I just spoke to recently? Is it someone I’ve grown up watching and idolising?
“Or is it just someone where I’m just going to be gobsmacked and shocked?”
‘The Masked Singer’ returns on December 30 at 7pm on ITV1, ITVX and STV.

Sheridan Smith regrets her tattos

OHMYGOSSIP — Sheridan Smith regrets getting so many tattoos.
The 42-year-old actress has a large inking on her left hand as well as a half-sleeve as well as more on her other arm and ankle – Sheridan has now admitted she wishes she hadn’t gone under the needle because it was hard work getting all her body art covered up with make-up for her new TV show ‘The Castaways’.
She told Radio Times: “I had a call three hours before anyone else. I couldn’t use my usual stuff [make-up] to cover them up, it had to be waterproof!
“So three people were dabbing away every day to cover it all. I never regretted my tats so much.”
Sheridan went on to vow she has no plans to have any more designs inked on her body, adding: “I’ll never have another one. Actors – just don’t do it. It’s the most ridiculous thing.”
The actress stars in the new drama for Paramount+ which based on Lucy Clarke’s bestselling novel, and Sheridan has admitted she lost a lot of weight while filming because the part was so physical.
She explained: “I had a challenge this year, the most physical part I’ve ever done. Running up and down a beach, climbing trees to pick fruit, jumping off cliffs, going through jungle, falling over, cutting my legs, then they say, ‘Go again,’ a few times more. I lost so much weight!”
Sheridan had to face a number of fears to play missing woman Lori Holme including her terror of spiders and heights, but she overcame it all and ended up having a wonderful time.
She added: “It’s so much fun! Hair wet, dirty, scratched, shorts or bits of clothing from the luggage in the plane, getting more and more wild as Lori goes from wallflower to beach-warrior-queen! That transition was such fun.
“I was covered in freckles, and it’s quite nice having no face make-up, just yourself.”

Shirley Ballas considering moving back to the US

OHMYGOSSIP — Shirley Ballas is considering moving back to the US to spend more time with her baby grandson.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star previously lived in the States for 11 years and her son Mark Ballas is based there with his wife BC Jean and their baby boy Banksi Wylde – who was born last month – and Shirley is thinking about splitting her time between the UK and the US because she doesn’t want to miss out on seeing her grandson grow up.
She told OK! magazine: “I don’t want to be a part-time grandmother. I want to be there as much as I can be, as much as his mum and dad will allow me to be part of the baby’s life.
“I could spend six months there and six months here – and I can afford to. I don’t want to miss out on my grandbaby. That is instilled in my head.”
Shirley added she also hates being apart from Mark and she wants to spend as much time with Banksi as possible – even if it is over the phone right now.
She said: “Hopefully, there will be more time on the phone because this, in my eyes, will be the most magical child ever … It’s a priority, but I really don’t think my family understands. I don’t think anybody sits back and thinks, ‘What if I never saw my child for six months?’”
However, Shirley is adamant she won’t give up her job on ‘Strictly’ if she moves back to the US – she’ll make it work even if it involves a lot of travel.
She added: “I’d never want to leave ‘Strictly’. I’ll be on TV and on the tour for as long as they’ll have me. I love ‘Strictly’.
“It’s like a day at Disneyland for me. When it’s ‘lights, camera, action’ I forget everything that’s gone on in the week. But it’s just on a weekend. I can always fly to the States on a Monday and come back on a Friday.”

Dynamo ‘lost the will to live’ as he battled Crohn’s disease

OHMYGOSSIP — Dynamo “lost the will to live” as he battled Crohn’s disease.
The 40-year-old illusionist – whose real name is Stephen Frayne – was diagnosed with the inflammatory bowel condition as a teenager and a number of nasty flare-ups over the last few years forced him to step away from the spotlight to focus on his health – and the star has now admitted the crisis plunged him into a deep depression.
He told the Sunday Times newspaper: “You take magic away from a magician, and you lose your sense of purpose. The last five years, maybe even longer, I’ve at times lost the will to live.
“Certain things in my life made me feel that I couldn’t be myself, made me doubt myself, made me feel, like, what is the point in my existence?”
The TV star eventually sought professional help at the insistence of his wife Kelly after he went through a number of “self-harming incidents” in November 2020.
He explained: “When my wife found me after some of my self-harming incidents, she was the one who really got me the help I needed.”
Dynamo started therapy and has been working with doctors and physiotherapists to help get him back to full strength ahead of his return to TV.
He will be back on the small screen for the first time in four years on Thursday (14.12.23) with ‘Dynamo Is Dead’ – a star-studded special in which he will attempt to free himself after being buried alive – and he admits he’s looking forward to getting through the stunt in one piece.
He said: “Right now, I feel happy to be alive. Albeit … I’ll be ultimately happier when I come out of that grave. Touch wood. ”
Dynamo added: “I felt conflicted because, on the one hand, I can do the most impossible thing over here, but on the other hand, I can’t get myself out of bed.”

This Morning lines up three more presenters

OHMYGOSSIP — Mollie King, Lisa Snowdon and Christine Lampard will be stepping in to host ‘This Morning’ over the next few weeks.
Producers on the ITV show have called in the trio – who have all hosted the show before – to help out in the run-up to Christmas following the departure of Holly Willoughby, 42, in October and while show regular Alison Hammond is taking time off to star in a pantomime.
A source told The Mirror newspaper: “It gives us a great opportunity to mix things up and see what lands well and resonates with the viewers … ”
Christine, 44,, Mollie, 36, and Lisa, 51, will all be paired up with show regular Dermot O’Leary for hosting slots this week
‘This Morning’ bosses are on the look out for a new regular presenter to fill Holly’s slot and they have brought in a number of stars over the last few weeks including Rochelle Humes, 34, Josie Gibson, 38, and Cat Deeley, 47.
The insider added: “There is a wealth of talent available and no shortage of takers, given it is one of the most sought-after spots in television.”
Holly’s departure followed the exit of her longtime co-star Phillip Schofield earlier in the year after it was revealed he had an illicit onset relationship with a younger male colleague.
It’s not yet known whether Holly will return to host ‘Dancing on Ice’ in January after previously presenting the show with Phillip, and reports suggested it’s a tough decision for her.
A source told the Daily Mail newspaper: “She absolutely loves ITV, she is loyal to them and they have been extremely loyal to her, but she’s just not sure if she can do it. “Holly doesn’t want to let anyone down. It is literally the toughest decision for her.
“I mean, what do you do? It starts in a few weeks, she knows that. It’s a huge quandary.”

Zachary Levi proposes Shazam buddy-comedy movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Zachary Levi has an idea for a Shazam “buddy-comedy” film.
The 43-year-old actor has starred as superhero Billy Batson/Shazam in two previous movies and has proposed a film alongside Nathan Fillion’s Green Lantern in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Universe.
Speaking to Screen Rant, Zachary said: “I think with the third iteration, obviously, he’d be a little bit older than that, and so kind of incorporating whatever that extra bit of growth and maturation and wisdom would be and, hopefully, just go on some really cool adventures with some other cool DC characters.
“Nathan Fillion and I have been buddies for a really long time, and I think a Green Lantern/Shazam buddy-comedy would be so much fun. So, I don’t know, something like that.”
The sequel ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ flopped at the box office when it was released earlier this year and Zachary explained how changes he made to the way he played the title character made the hero seem more “immature”.
He said: “From the first movie to the second, I tried to age him as Billy ages, you know, in his actual younger teen form. Inside, he’s ageing too.
“Obviously, in the first film, he was like 15, and in the second he’s 17ish, almost 18. So I tried to address that and bring that into the character, which ironically, in some ways, kind of made him feel almost a little more immature.
“But that’s because when he’s 15, he’s not trying to be the cool guy, when he’s 17, he’s trying to be the cool guy, he’s trying to be the leader, and he’s trying to kind of put on that bravado more.”

‘Truly heartbreaking’: Andrew Scott was moved to tears by All of Us Strangers script

OHMYGOSSIP — Andrew Scott was “in bits” after reading the script for ‘All of Us Strangers’.
The 47-year-old actor stars in the new romantic fantasy film as gay writer Adam, who begins a relationship with enigmatic neighbour Harry (Paul Mescal) that helps him overcome the death of his parents (played by Claire Foy and Jamie Bell), and described writer-director Andrew Haigh’s script as “truly heartbreaking”.
Andrew told The Hollywood Reporter at the film’s Los Angeles premiere on Saturday (09.12.23): “I thought it was really one of the most extraordinary scripts I’d ever read. Truly heartbreaking.
“I was really in bits after reading the script and the finished movie really doesn’t differ too much from the original script.”
The chemistry between Scott and Mescal – who was absent from the premiere as he films the ‘Gladiator’ sequel in Malta – has been praised and the ‘Sherlock’ actor has formed a “really close bond” with his co-star.
Andrew said: “We formed a really, really close bond. I absolutely adore Paul, he was such an incredible colleague. He’s such a soulful and intelligent and hardworking actor, it was wonderful. Couldn’t have imagined doing it with anyone else.”
He added: “I think sometimes chemistry is about great writing and actors really wanting to be there and just really understanding that acting is about just listening to each other, in the same way that a good date is about good listening.”
The movie has been dubbed as a tear-jerker but the ‘Fleabag’ star thinks the picture is “more emotional than sad”.
Scott said: “I really do think it’s sad, but it’s more emotional than sad, I would say. It’s the idea of what we might say to the people that are no longer in our lives – that’s a beautiful, audacious sort of premise and that’s why it’s touching.”

Paul King wants more Hugh Grant collaborations

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul King would “cheerfully” work with Hugh Grant ever day for the “rest of [his] life”.
The 45-year-old director first worked with the British actor on ‘Paddington 2’ and knew straight away he was the right person to cast as a tiny orange-faced Oompa-Loompa in new ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ origins story ‘Wonka’.
He told Radio Times magazine: “I loved working with Hugh on ‘Paddington 2’ and would cheerfully work with him every day for the rest of my life.
“He’s one of the funniest people I’ve ever met and he certainly has a naughty side, so I think he sits very comfortably in Dahl’s universe.
“The Oompa-Loompas don’t have much dialogue in the books but they do have these long songs where they take an almost gleeful pleasure in the demise of all the ghastly children who tour the factory.
“They’re so funny and biting and scornful, and as I was reading them, Hugh’s voice kept coming into my head.
“From there, it wasn’t a huge step to go, ‘Wouldn’t it be funny to see him 18 inches high with bright green hair and orange skin?’ It was perfect.”
The director recently admitted he’s keen to revisit the characters for another movie.
He told Total Film magazine: “I would definitely like to do more. And I’d like to spend more time in this world.
“Dahl was definitely interested in taking Willy Wonka on. There’s drafts that didn’t really go anywhere, and there’s a short story. He didn’t really write sequels, but this was the one book where he clearly felt there was more in the tank there.
“There’s an awful lot more Wonka story that we have that we would like to tell.
“It’s not like ‘Dune: Part One’ where you go, ‘This is what’s happening in Part Two.’ Hopefully it works exquisitely as a stand-alone movie. But I would definitely like to do more. And I’d like to spend more time in this world, and meet some more Oompa-Loompas.”

Morena Baccarin confirms she’ll star in Deadpool 3

OHMYGOSSIP — Morena Baccarin is set to star in ‘Deadpool 3’.
The 44-year-old actress has confirmed that she will reprise the role of Vanessa Carlysle in the money-spinning film franchise, and Morena has revealed that fans should expect a few surprises in the new movie.
The actress – who will star in the film alongside Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman – told ComicBookMovie.com: “I finished my shooting days on it already … I think filming is back on again after the strike, and I think it’s going to be quite good!”
Morena also teased that the upcoming movie will feature a “fun surprise”.
Meanwhile, Ryan recently revealed that he’s determined to preserve the “magic” of ‘Deadpool 3’.
The 47-year-old actor took to social media after some behind-the-scenes photos from the set leaked online.
Responding to the photo leak, Ryan wrote on Instagram: “Surprises are part of the magic of theatrical movies. It’s important for us to shoot the new DEADPOOL film in real, natural environments, using practical effects as opposed to making the movie indoors and digitally. Telephoto lenses continue to spoil surprises and create a difficult situation for everyone.
“Here’s hoping some of the websites and social channels hold back showing images before they’re ready. The film is built for audience joy – and our highest hope is to preserve as much of that magic as possible for the finished film and the big screen. Part of the reason people post spoilers is because they’re excited. I realize these aren’t real world issues and it’s firmly in the ‘good problems’ bucket.
“I love making this movie. (sic)”

Julia Roberts relished her Leave the World Behind role

OHMYGOSSIP — Julia Roberts loved playing a complex character in ‘Leave the World Behind’.
The 56-year-old actress stars alongside Ethan Hawke, Mahershala Ali and Kevin Bacon in the psychological thriller film, and Julia has revealed that she relished the opportunity.
Asked if she enjoyed the experience, Julia told Sky News’ ‘Backstage’ podcast: “Absolutely – just more interesting and more complicated.
“And then you add in [the other characters] and then to create all the circumstances that Sam [Esmail, the director] has put us in, in this story, it’s like a sandbox.”
In ‘Leave the World Behind’, the characters struggle to cope when they’re cut off from technology.
But Julia believes she would actually be fine in that scenario.
She said: “I’m 56 years old – I grew up with, like, Triple A Triptychs where you turn the page on the map, and you’re like, ‘Oh, Dad, now we’re going to get down here and … we’re going to go [here]…’
“I mean, I can do it – I was a Girl Scout, come on! I am not just an actor. I can tie all kinds of knots.”
Meanwhile, Myha’la Herrold also relished being part of the film’s star-studded cast.
The 27-year-old actress shared: “[It was] a huge, a huge opportunity in so many ways and I felt very honoured and grateful and I was very up for and ready for the challenge.
“On day one, I was very much like, ‘I’m ready for this masterclass, I’m ready to take this class’ and it was very much that, but in the same breath I felt so welcomed in and I was treated as a peer and challenged, so rising to that is my favourite thing.”

Holly Willoughby faces ‘toughest career decision’ after This Morning exit

OHMYGOSSIP — Holly Willoughby is facing the “toughest decision” of her career ahead of ‘Dancing on Ice’s return.
The 42-year-old TV star remains undecided about returning to the ITV show, following the departure of former co-host Phillip Schofield – but Holly also wants to remain “loyal” to ITV.

Holly announced her departure from ‘This Morning’ in October.
The TV star confirmed her exit from the show via a statement posted on social media.
