Superman director James Gunn promises David Corenswet will ‘blow people away’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Superman’ director James Gunn has teased David Corenswet will “blow people away” as the titular character.
The 31-year-old actor stars as the iconic superhero in the upcoming DC blockbuster, and the filmmaker, 58, has now promised Corenswet will surpass all fan expectations as the Man of Steel.
During an appearance on a panel at the New York Comic Con over the weekend, Gunn said: “We’re deep in the process of editing. David Corenswet is going to f****** blow people away.
“He is the movie star that everyone just dreams he could possibly be. I don’t think anyone really understands the depth of this guy’s talent dramatically, comedically.
“He’s the best physical action star I’ve probably ever worked with.”
The ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ director added fans would be able to get their first look at the film in the near future, though admitted a trailer wouldn’t be arriving “too soon”.
He said: “I feel good about it, and I’m really hard on stuff, so it’s been fantastic … It won’t be too long before we see a trailer, but it also won’t be too soon.”
‘Superman’ will follow the legendary hero as he tries to find balance between his Kryptonian and human sides all while Lex Luthor – played by Nicholas Hoult – plans his downfall.
Gunn recently revealed Superman’s iconic canine friend Krypto the Dog would be appearing in the movie after he was inspired to include the character by his real-life mutt Ozu.
He gushed: “Krypto, that’s been something that’s just been amazing. We’ve been working with him in the edit. He’s an incredible part of the story to me personally. When I was writing the screenplay, he came in and kind of changed everything up.”
The film – which also stars Rachel Brosnahan, Milly Alcock, Isabela Merced and Nathan Fillion – is set for release in cinemas on 11 July 2025.

Strictly pro Nadiya Bychkova ‘not friends’ with ex-boyfriend Kai Widdrington

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional dancer Nadiya Bychkova has admitted she and ex-boyfriend Kai Widdrington are “not friends”.
The pro dancers started dating in 2022, but they split up earlier this year, and the 35-year-old star revealed they don’t spend time together now apart from at work, where they have a “professional” relationship when dancing alongside one another.
Speaking at the Pride of Britain Awards at London’s The Grosvenor House Hotel on Monday night (21.10.24), she told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “We work together but we are not friends and that’s OK.
“One thing I can tell you is that when you see me dancing with him it will be amazing because I’m a professional.”
Nadiya attended the Pride of Britain Awards with Olympian Tom Dean, who she was partnered up with on the BBC Latin and ballroom show this year.
Sadly for the pair, Tom became the first celebrity to be axed from the current series, and Nadiya believes there are plenty of viewers who still wanted to see what he was “capable of”.
She said: “It’s never nice to leave early.
“Tom and I have had so much support from people and I get the feeling that the viewers wanted to see what he was capable of and so did I.
“Someone had to go and it’s just a shame it was Tom.
“We are going to keep dancing though. I am going to teach him a salsa with some big lifts.
“Not for TV, just so he can see he can be brilliant.”
Following his elimination in September, Tom admitted at the time he wished he could’ve gone further in the contest.
He told ‘Strictly’ host Tess Daly: “I’ve had the best time the last few weeks and getting to work with Nadiya has been incredible.
“I wish I could have gone further and done more dances.
“I’ve had the most fun and I wish we could keep going longer and longer. We’ll still go out for loads of brunches I’m sure.”

She added: “At Aardman, we love collaborating with IP that shares our commitment to humour, charm and great storytelling.
“From our earliest conversations with Mattel, we felt an immediate and strong connection in our shared love of ‘Pingu’, the authentic appeal of the original IP, and comedy that transcends language barriers to speak to audiences everywhere.
“Aardman and Pingu is such a natural and enticing combination. The charm of the stop frame animation along with the quirky irreverence and character driven storytelling aligns perfectly with our creative approach. There are so many stories yet to tell, we can’t wait to get started.”
The character was first created in the 1980s, focusing on playful humour and his own unique ‘Penguinese’ language and ‘Noot Noot’ catchphrase.

Tom Holland in talks to star alongside Matt Damon in Christopher Nolan’s new movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Holland is in talks for Christopher Nolan’s new movie.
The ‘Spider-Man’ actor is expected to appear alongside Matt Damon is the as-yet untitled film, if he signs up for the motion picture.
Sources have told The Hollywood Reporter that the movie won’t be set in the present day, but it’s not yet known whether the film will be based in the past or the future.
Nolan has penned the script for the project, and plot details have been kept under wraps so far.
The filmmaker will also direct the motion picture, which will be distributed by Universal and has a release date of July 17, 2026.
Nolan will also produce the film alongside his wife, Emma Thomas.
Earlier this month, Damon was said to be in talks to star in the as-yet untitled movie.
It would be the third time Nolan and Damon have collaborated together on the big screen.
As well as last year’s ‘Oppenheimer’, the 54-year-old actor also appeared in 2014’s ‘Interstellar’.
That would mean he will join Christian Bale and Cillian Murphy as actors to have teamed with Nolan on at least three occasions.
Nolan previously explained how he has constantly had to “evolve” alongside cinema, which is partly why he hasn’t made any of the 12 to 13 movie ideas he came up with during his younger years.
In an interview with Empire magazine, he said: “As a young man, I had a list of, however many I’d worked out, 12 or 13 films… I had a lot of ideas and a lot of very specific things that I was going to do. And I look back and I haven’t done any of them; they all changed.
“When you plan ahead too far in the movie business, you’re not taking into account the shifting sands of culture under your feet… (Cinema) evolves. And part of your job as a filmmaker is to be open to being part of that evolution.”

Frank Skinner and David Baddiel reunite for Celebrity Gogglebox SU2C special

OHMYGOSSIP — Frank Skinner and David Baddiel are set to reunite for ‘Celebrity Gogglebox for Stand Up To Cancer’.
The comedy duo burst onto the box in the 1990’s with hit shows like ‘Fantasy Football League’ and ‘Baddiel And Skinner Unplanned’, and now the pair will be sharing a sofa for the first time in nearly 20 years for the beloved Channel 4 programme.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, 67-year-old Frank said: “It is an amazing ’cause and Dave and me, back on a sofa, seems a better deal than cycling up K2, carrying a fridge to Istanbul or any of that sweaty stuff people do for charity.”
David added he was a “big fan” of the show, and felt it was worth “slumping in front of the screen with [his] old friend” in order to raise money for the charity.
The 60-year-old comedian said: “I’m a big fan of ‘Gogglebox’, Stand Up To Cancer, and Frank Skinner, so this wasn’t a difficult yes.
“If we can raise awareness and cash to fight this terrible disease, it’s worth the huge effort of slumping in front of the screen with my old friend.”
The pair first met at the Jongluers comedy club in 1990, and eventually cemented their friendship two years later when they shared a flat in Edinburgh.
Now, the duo only live 15 doors away from one another.
Frank recounted: “I’ve been watching TV with David Baddiel for about 30 years.
“The only TV I refused to watch with him was stuff featuring me. He never laughed enough.”
‘Celebrity Gogglebox for Stand Up To Cancer’ will air on Channel 4 and will be available for streaming at 9pm this Friday (25.10.24).
After ‘Baddiel and Skinner Unplanned’ ended in 2005, the comedy duo went their separate ways, though both previously admitted they wanted to bring back the chat show.
During a separate interview with the outlet, David said: “The great thing about it was, even though it was very frightening, there was little work involved.
“We just turned up and just did it. And I loved the fact you could go anywhere with it.
“The first two series were live, the last three were edited. We could do it online or on cable.
“Me and Frank have talked about it. It would be a laugh. He lives on my road, it’s great.”

‘I know you’re hurt’ Vicky Entwistle blasts Coronation Street for killing off Bruce Jones’ character

OHMYGOSSIP — Former ‘Coronation Street’ star Vicky Entwistle has blasted the soap for killing off Bruce Jones’ character.
The 56-year-old actress has taken a pop at the ITV show after it was revealed Bruce’s character Les Battersby is to be killed off-screen, and Vicky – who played Bruce’s on-screen wife Janice Battersby – believes ‘Corrie’ bosses may have been “upset” by the “constant calls” for his return.
Vicky wrote on X: “Well all I can do is [applause emoji]
Thank you for the fun we had.
I know you are hurt
@Brucejonesnew
An email does in no way qualify.
I guess the constant calls for you to come back upset them!!!
Vic (sic)”
Bruce discovered Les was being killed off after he received an email from ‘Coronation Street’ bosses, and while he is “sad” about the character’s demise, it has given him “closure” over his time on the cobbles.
He told MailOnline: “[Show bosses] already emailed me a over a fortnight ago to tell me what was happening.
“I actually thought, well fine, I played him for ten years. It gives me closure. Maybe it will stop people asking me all the time when I’m going back, if I’m going back.
“People want me back, but it’ll stop all that, in shopping centres, wherever I go. I’m pleased it’s happening but I’m also sad about losing a character I played for ten years. I’m grateful to the street for that.”
Bruce found fame as Les from 1997 until 2007.
He was suspended from the show in March 2007 following an allegation of drunkenness with an undercover journalist.
And two months later, it was confirmed Bruce wouldn’t be returning as Les.
The character later moved from Weatherfield to Dublin.

Giovanni Pernice tipped to return for Strictly special

OHMYGOSSIP — Giovanni Pernice is expected to feature in the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ anniversary special.
The Italian dancer left the programme ahead of the current series amid an investigation into his conduct following complains from former dance partner Amanda Abbington but just weeks after the probe upheld six of her complaints, the 34-year-old Latin expert is likely to make an appearance on an upcoming one-off programme.
The ‘Strictly’ 20th anniversary special will look back over the show’s history and will include“iconic performances and familiar faces past and present”, with Giovanni’s 2021 winning year with Rose Ayling-Ellis – who became the programme’s first deaf contestant – likely to feature heavily.
A source told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “Giovanni made history when he won with Rose so footage from their emotional silent performance is set to feature.”
The BBC declined to comment as to whether Giovanni will also appear in person for the show, rather than just in archive footage.
Fellow professional Graziano Di Prima is unlikely to appear after he was sacked in July amid allegations he had kicked his celebrity partner Zara McDermott.
A BBC spokesperson said: “Editorial decisions about what the final show will include haven’t been finalised yet.”
The broadcaster upheld just six of the 17 complaints made against Giovanni.
He apologised to Amanda after BBC bosses concluded a review into the Italian’s conduct, but in her first interview since the findings were published, the ‘Sherlock’ star suggested she was considering further legal action.
Amanda told Newsnight host Victoria Derbyshire she was “taking guidance from my lawyer on a day-to-day basis” when asked how she will proceed after the report’s findings were released.
She added: “There’s a 30-page report that me and my lawyers are still digesting. There are still things in there that are unresolved.”
And Giovanni – who still appears on the Italian version of ‘Strictly’ and is embarking on his own solo tour ‘The Last Dance’ next year – reportedly assumes that he will be back the show in 2025.
A source told The Daily Mirror newspaper: “Giovanni has not given up on appearing on the ‘Strictly’ stage. As far as he is concerned, he has been cleared and there is no reason why he couldn’t return. He has told his pals he is hoping to be back next year and is keen to speak to the BBC about it.
“He still feels very much part of the fold and has a massive fan base who would no doubt welcome him back. But of course, the final decision will be made by BBC bosses.”

Shayne Ward to focused on Strictly Come Dancing to celebrate 40th birthday

OHMYGOSSIP — Shayne Ward delayed his 40th birthday celebrations to focus on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The ‘That’s My Goal’ hitmaker hit the milestone last Wednesday (16.10.24) but had a low-key day with fiancee Sophie Austin and their children Willow, seven, and two-year-old Reign, because he spent the majority of his time training with partner Nancy Xu after finding themselves in the dreaded dance-off last weekend.
Shayne told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “I woke up to a beautiful surprise my fiancée Sophie and Willow had organised. I got my little son up and had a beautiful morning with my family. I walked my girl to school and then waved my son off to nursery.
“Then I rehearsed with Nancy for about eight hours and went home to put the kids to bed. It was a pretty good 40th – but we’ll be going on a Ward adventure pretty soon.”
The former ‘Coronation Street’ actor celebrated with “chicken nuggets and beans” as Sophie hadn’t expected him back from rehearsals in time for dinner but he wasn’t too disappointed.
He added: “I didn’t have any drinks to celebrate.
“Sophie didn’t expect me back so I just had chicken nuggets and beans with the kids as my birthday meal. But it was the best birthday meal ever. She also made me a banoffee cake, which I love. There’ll be plenty of time when I can go for a pint.”
Shayne was “gutted” at being in the bottom two last weekend but admitted it has given him more drive to do well in the competition.
He said: “I was gutted being in the bottom two. There’s a moment where you think, ‘Is this it? Is this the end of my journey?’
“We’ve listened to the judges and we’re ready to come back fighting. It’s hard not to let it affect your confidence. But it also refocuses you. It reignites that fire.”

Tom Hardy would ‘love to’ fight Spider-Man

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Hardy would “love to fight Spider-Man”.
The 47-year-old actor reprises his role as Eddie Brock and the symbiote Venom in ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ and though his trilogy in the Spider-Man spin-off is now complete, the star admitted he’d love to come face-to-face with Tom Holland’s web-slinging superhero.
Presenting the movie at New York Comic Con, Tom said: “I would love to fight Spider-Man. I would love to fight him now. I’m happy to fight Spider-Man today, 100 percent. I would never say never.”
“We were specifically set up to bring Venom to a movie format, and that’s what we’ve done. ‘The Last Dance’ is the final piece in that trilogy and we’re really excited about that.”
While the story of Venom “closes” with the new movie, director Kelly Marcel teased further symbiote-based movies may be on the way after the trilogy for ‘The Last Dance’ teased the introduction of Knull, the evil alien creator of the symbiote.
Kelly said on stage: “This is just the introduction to Knull. He’s a massive, massive character so you can never be one-and-done with him. This is just a little taster of Knull. We get to meet him. What the future holds for him, who knows.
“The plot for Eddie and Venom closes here. But as you know, there are lots of symbiote stories in the canon.
“There are lots of places to go, and maybe there are a few Easter eggs in here that might start that journey off.”
Tom previously teased the film would be “much bigger” than its two predecessors.
He told Forbes: “This one – I’m so, so excited about because we’ve gone much bigger.”
The ‘Peaky Blinders’ actor – who stars in the film alongside Juno Temple, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Stephen Graham and Rhys Ifans – added the success of the R-rated ’Deadpool’ movies had encouraged him and Kelly to embrace the more violent side of Venom.
He explained: “By the third one, we’ve been given so much creative support to do – to push it. It’s a much wider piece and there’s much more love – not that there was not love in the last ones.
“We’ve been allowed to put more of our ideas into it and I’m really excited to see how they land.”

Jeremy Clarkson underwent urgent heart op after deteriorating on holiday

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy Clarkson had a stent fitted following a “sudden deterioration” in his health that doctors said left him “maybe” days away from dying.
The ‘Clarkson’s Farm’ star, 64, has revealed he underwent a heart procedure after he started feeling “weak” while on vacation and could barely swim or walk up the stairs.
Writing in his column for The Sunday Times newspaper, he said: “It wasn’t far, maybe the length of two swimming pools. But when I finally reached the beach, there was more water in my lungs than there is in Lake Superior, and I was mostly dead.”
He insisted: “I’m not exaggerating. These problems all manifested themselves in one day.”
Upon returning to the UK, he noticed a tingling sensation in his arm and “tightness” in his chest whilst working on his Cotswolds farm, and subsequently underwent a procedure to clear his blocked arteries.
The ex-‘Top Gear’ host explained how he sought medical attention at a hospital in Oxford after former SNP leader Alex Salmond passed away following a heart attack on October 12.
An ECG ruled out a heart attack, but if he hadn’t sought medical help, he might not have made it, with the TV star admitting: “Crikey, that was close.”
Jeremy said: “It seems that of the arteries feeding my heart with nourishing blood, one was completely blocked and the second of three was heading that way.
“So he made a hole in my wrist, inserted his Dyno-Rod equipment and went in for a closer look. The question was this. Were the arteries so ruined that I’d need an emergency heart bypass? Or could he use his Dyno-Rods and some ultrasonic battering rams to loosen them up before inserting a stent?”
He added: “But it took two hours and at one point it felt like he’d put a Hoover pipe up my arm, along with a pile driver, and was busy inside my heart with a B and Q chisel and hammer gift set. It wasn’t especially painful. Just odd.”
The ‘Grand Tour’ star previously suffered a health scare in 2017 when he was hospitalised while on vacation in Majorca and battled a severe case of pneumonia.
It prompted him to take better care of his health and cut back on smoking.

Paul Merson and Karen Hauer exit Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Merson and Karen Hauer have been eliminated from ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ after a dance-off with JB Gill and Amy Dowden.
Both pairs reprised their dances from Saturday night (19.10.24); retired footballer Paul, 56, and Karen, 42, with their Samba to ‘Car Wash’ by Rose Royce, and JLS star JB, 37, and Amy, 34, with their Jive to ‘Hey Ya!’ by Outkast.
However, judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton du Beke all chose to save JB and Amy. With a majority vote, JB and Amy remained, resulting in Paul and Karen’s departure. Head Judge Shirley Ballas concurred with the decision.
Reflecting on his time on the BBC One Latin and ballroom show, Paul admitted it was an “amazing” journey and attributed his improvement on the dancefloor to Karen’s excellent coaching.
He said: “It’s been really good. For anybody I talk to, I would say you’ve got to go on this show. It’s amazing – everybody. There’s a Tottenham fan over there called Lincoln and even he’s nice! It’s been amazing, honestly, amazing. I loved every minute of it, I’ve had a great teacher.
“She’s been amazing, absolutely amazing and I couldn’t wish for a better coach. I’ve loved every minute of it. I can dance now – I’ve won because I can dance, I couldn’t dance before and I can half dance now. It’s a bonus, absolute bonus.”
Karen reciprocated the sentiment, commending Paul for his progress and the joy he brought to the show.
She said: “Absolutely, you’ve been a joy. I’ve never giggled this much. My abs are really tight now. I am so proud of you. Every week you have showed up, you have improved. You’re what Strictly is about and I want to thank you for bringing such joy and just showing everyone that it is possible with a little bit of work and lots of giggles.”
The remaining 11 couples have made it to the Halloween Special, which airs on 26 October at 6.25pm with the results show on Sunday, 27 October at 7.20pm on BBC One and iPlayer. Both of this weekend’s episodes are available to watch now via BBC iPlayer.

Jeremy Clarkson is ‘fine’ after heart surgery

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy Clarkson is “fine” after undergoing heart surgery.
The former ‘Top Gear’ presenter opened up about his health scare over the weekend (19-20.10.24) revealing he started experiencing worrying symptoms during a holiday and was later admitted to hospital in the UK for an emergency procedure to clear his blocked arteries – and he’s now thanked fans for all their well wishes and joked the heart op means he won’t be emptying the dishwasher for the next four years.
He told The Sun newspaper: “I’m very grateful to everyone who sent supportive messages but I’m fine. I just have to not do any manual labour or dishwasher emptying for the next four years.
“At least I think that’s what the doctor said.”
Clarkson opened up about the heart scare in his column for The Sunday Times newspaper, revealing he had a stent fitted following a “sudden deterioration” in his health that doctors said left him “maybe” days away from dying.

Acid attack victim Katie Piper calls out troll for horrific comment about her face

OHMYGOSSIP — Katie Piper has been consoled by her TV colleagues after a troll made a nasty comment about her face.
The 41-year-old TV presenter was left blind in one eye following an horrific acid attack in 2008 that left her with serious facial scarring and she was left appalled after someone decided to question “where is your nose?” below one of her Instagram pictures.
Responding, Katie wrote: “Being pulled into my face by thick scar tissue. It’s incredibly painful.”
The user then disgracefully suggested that she jump out of a window to “ease” her “suffering”.
Calling out the social media user, the former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star wrote on Instagram: “After completing my run this morning, feeling already depleted because of my bad time, I opened my phone to this.
“I can handle most things, but sometimes it adds to an already heavy load you are carrying. You never know how people are feeling, what they’re going through, how their days are and even if you did, the only person we’re judging because of this comment, is you.
“I wouldn’t usually call this out so personally, but this is beyond anything even I can handle. This behaviour should always be called out, people need to do better.”
‘Loose Women’ star Coleen Nolan was among those to back her decision to call out the abhorrent bullying.
She commented: “Oh god Katie this is so so vile ! I think these kind of people have no life , no friends and would prefer hate towards them then nothing at all. I’m trying to feel sorry for this sad individual but I’m finding it really difficult.. you on the other hand are one of the most beautiful individuals I’ve ever met. Never let anyone dull your shine.”
Fellow ‘Loose Women’ star Denise Welch wrote: “I’m literally speechless. It like Col says is because they’d rather have negative attention than non. Many so called journalists are the same.”
‘Good Morning Britain’ presenter Adil Ray said: “Sending you love and strength Katie. Yes do call this out, but please don’t let this horrid negativity occupy your mind. You’re an absolute inspiration to all of us, in so many ways. You have taught us bravery and tenacity. Keep going, keep smiling and keep being beautiful inside and out.”
Singer Beverley Knight commented: “No one who is booked, busy and recognises their blessing has time to sit down and write this s***.
You are one of the most wonderful examples of humanity I know.”
And documentary maker Stacey Dooley wrote: “The pits.
“You are legit 10/10 in every sense.”

Connie Nielsen amazed by fast filming on Gladiator II

OHMYGOSSIP — Connie Nielsen was amazed by the speed at which they were able to film ‘Gladiator II’.
The actress is the only cast member from the 2000 original to appear in Sir Ridley Scott’s new movie and she’s revealed it was a very different experience to filming the first film more than two decades ago.
Speaking at a screening of the new movie in Los Angeles, Connie explained: “This time around, what would have taken three hours to set up 25 years ago now takes 20 minutes.
“That is despite the fact that you’re talking 3,000 extras, enormous vehicles, insane set-ups. We could not believe how fast we were moving.”
Her co-star Denzel Washington also spoke about the epic sets for the new movie and revealed he enjoyed walking into the director’s vision of ancient Rome.
He said: “He built Rome, so all we had to do was put the clothes on and start talking. It was play. You know, it’s fun. Just put the gear on and go. That’s the way I looked at it. I’m like, I’m putting this dress on, these rings, and I’m going crazy.”
The film stars Paul Mescal in the lead role and he insisted the sequel honours the legacy of the first film and is one of the director’s “finest pieces of work”.
He said: “I think this film wears the legacy of the first film with intense pride and honour. It’s made by the only man who could ever touch it in Ridley Scott.
“Personally, as his friend and his long admirer, I think is one of his finest pieces of work that I’ve seen in recent times.”
The movie is scheduled for release on November 22 and it’s set to have a royal premiere in London on November 13 in aid of the Film and TV Charity, which offers physical, mental and financial support for everyone working behind the scenes in film, TV, and cinema.
Scott said in a statement: “Ever since making ‘Gladiator’, year after year, I kept asking myself, ‘Is there a sequel?’
“After nearly 25 years, we are excited to finally answer that question for you, and audiences everywhere.
“Making ‘Gladiator II’ endorsed Orson Welles’ quote that ‘filmmaking is the best train set a boy could ever have.’ This was the biggest train set I’ve ever driven.
“It feels only right that the UK premiere of ‘Gladiator II’ is taking place in aid of the Film and TV Charity, an organisation that works tirelessly to support the UK industry. I think it will live up to your expectations.”

Dionne Warwick ‘personally chose’ Teyana Taylor to play her in biopic

OHMYGOSSIP — Dionne Warwick says she “personally chose” lookalike Teyana Taylor to play her in a new biopic.
The 83-year-old music legend – who was among the music royalty inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday (19.10.24) – and the ‘Walk On By’ hitmaker says there is no one else that could portray her than “triple threat” Teyana, 33.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column at the US bash, Dionne – who was supported by the ‘Coming 2 America’ star at the ceremony – gushed: “She is a triple threat, she sings, she dances and she is an actress.
“I have seen her films, I got to know her and as I got to know her I found that she was doing all of the research that she could find on me.
“She knows more about me than I know about myself.”
She added: “I personally chose her – based on a couple of photographs I found.
“One of her and one of me.
“We had them interposed together and I can’t think of anybody else who would ever do it.”
In 2023, Teyana told the ‘Tamron Hall Show’ of the film: “We’re already working on it. We’re in the building process right now. I always wanted to make sure I could lock in with any person that I would be playing.”
She explained that she is taking inspiration from Angela Bassett’s take on Tina Turner in the 1993 film ‘What’s Love Got to Do With It’ and Jamie Foxx’s portrayal of Ray Charles in the 2004 movie ‘Ray’.
The ‘A Thousand and One’ star said: “I miss when movies were like that, when you got to really get to know them and tap in.”
Teyana revealed that she was in regular contact with Dionne and is determined to make sure that her story is told in the right way on the big screen.
She said: “We talk almost every day.
“I’ve always been a firm believer and stood on safety. She’s had a wonderful career, and I think right now is about making her feel as safe as possible to tell her story because a lot of these stories get misconstrued or dramatised to an extent. That’s not really where we want to go.”
Dionne had teased the project back in 2021 although she had suggested that it was going to be a television series.
The music legend told Entertainment Weekly: “(Teyana) is certainly a talented young lady with whom I’ve had the pleasure of interfacing.
“She’s very excited about the prospect of being involved, and she’s also going to be very, very much involved in directing it and putting together parts and parcel of how we see this going.”
