Rochelle Humes was ‘in a bad way’ after Strictly Come Dancing nerves

OHMYGOSSIP — Rochelle Humes was “in a bad way” after her ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ stint.
The Saturdays star’s close friend JB Gill – who was in JLS with her husband Marvin Humes – is taking part in the BBC show this year, but Rochelle would “never” join the main show after struggling with the Christmas special in 2013.
She told Closer magazine: “I basically got dragged around the dance floor by the lovely Ian Waite, and I was the most nervous I could be.
“I was in a bad way, I don’t know how anybody does that, week in, week out.
“I could never… and the respect that I have for the people that do ‘Strictly’, it’s just beyond!”
Despite not wanting to sign up for the full ‘Strictly’ experience, Rochelle did turn up to watch JB and his pro partner Amy Dowden strut their stuff.
She added: “We went to watch JB last week, and he was so brilliant – he didn’t look nervous at all!”
Rochelle – who has kids Alaia, 11, Valentine, seven, and Blake, four, with Marvin – is still keeping busy, and the couple have worked on shows like ‘The Hit List’ together in the past.
The 35-year-old singer explained that they both make sure to keep a healthy balance betwene their work and home life.
She said: “We try to set boundaries, and we make sure that we don’t talk shop at home once we’re all done for the day.
“We let that roll into tomorrow. I think it’s important to protect it. If it all rolls into one, then we’ll be up working on something all the time.
“At least by five o’clock, by the time kids are having dinner, we’ll make sure that work questions are done.”

TV bosses working on ‘old-fashioned values’ dating show

OHMYGOSSIP — TV bosses are working on the “antithesis” of dating shows to return to “old-fashioned values”.
Producers are reportedly set to turn its back on raunchy formats for a new show called ‘Recipe For Love’ – which is in development, and will see modern men jet out to Italy where a grandmother will teach them how to win over a girl.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz Column: “’Recipe For Love’ is the antithesis of the flood of raunchy dating shows, and encourages a return to old-fashioned values the modern world has forgotten
“The show is in development now, and talks are under way with a number of channels interested in airing the series.
“No talent is attached, but up-and-coming ‘Strictly’ hunk Vito Coppola is considered the perfect fit. He embodies all those values plus is very close to his own Nonna.”
The no-nonsense pensioner will reportedly also lecture the guys on how to “make delicious meals, host a lady and create a cosy home”.
Aside from the synopsis and the name of the show, it has also been claimed it will be a creation of the production company Expectation, which credits including Amazon Prime’s ‘Clarkson’s Farm’ and the recent ‘Absolutely Fabulous: Inside Out’ documentary on UKTV.
It is believed to be a success, given it will follow the same format as the commissioned ITV show ‘Date My Nan’, which is hosted by Davina McCall, 57, and will follow a string of mature romantics on a rendezvous, in the hope they will find a lover.
Casting agents are also seeking loved ones, such as grandchildren, friends or neighbours – to help the older contestants in their bid for love.
An insider previously told The Sun: “The dates and possible love matches are brilliant but they’re just part of ‘Date My Nan’.
“Producers know the gentle, emotional scenes as the older daters get ready with their loved one will lead to genuinely lovely, heartwarming content.”

Terrifier 3’s Lauren LaVera is ‘terrified’ of clowns

OHMYGOSSIP — Lauren LaVera admits she has been “terrified” of clowns for decades.
The 30-year-old actress, who battles supernatural killer Art the Clown as Sienna Shaw in the slasher film ‘Terrifier 3’, says the clown doll from the 1982 Stephen Spielberg horror ‘Poltergeist’ freaked her out and has left her scared ever since.
She told Dread Central: “It’s funny because I really didn’t find it all that scary generally … but it was that one clown doll … that really messed with my brain.
“And ever since, I’ve been terrified of clowns.”
Discussing what makes clowns so off-putting for her, Lauren added: “It’s their uncanny nature.
“They always have this plastered smile on their face, and it’s like that white makeup on their face, how jovial they’re meant to be, but you just feel like they can switch and turn at any moment because they have this fake plastered smile.
“I think it would be easy to see them just snap. So, I think that’s why I don’t like them personally, but I think most people can probably relate.”
Damien Leone, 42, has directed the third instalment of the gruesome series and it topped the US box office in its debut week following release.
The picture is set at Christmas and Lauren can get behind horror weaponising the festive season as she is not a fan of the December holiday.
She said: “I don’t like Christmas at all.
“I told Damien, too, when he said he planned to set this one at Christmas. I hate Christmas. I told him that, and just said: ‘Yeah, this is going to be great.’
“It added to the unease of everything Sienna was feeling. I don’t think she appreciates Christmas much, either. And I think you can see that in her.
“It’s the juxtaposition of something joyful and playful right next to the gruesome horrors of Art the Clown.
“And the vintage colours of Christmas really lend themselves to darkness on film. I would think that the settings of our production just looked so beautiful against all that blood.”

Peter Dinklage added to Roofman cast

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Dinklage has joined the cast of ‘Roofman’.
The 55-year-old actor has signed up to star alongside Channing Tatum and Kirsten Dunst in the true crime movie that is based on the story of robber Jeffrey Manchester, who broke into over 60 McDonald’s restaurants overnight via their roofs.
He remained in the eateries until staff arrived for work in the morning, and he herded them into the freezers while he emptied the cash registers.
Manchester became known as the ‘Rooftop Robber’ or ‘Roofman’, but he was known for his gentle demeanour and rarely being violent.
He was convicted and jailed in 2000, but he broke out of prison.
Manchester went on the run for months and hid in a Toys ‘R Us and Circuit City store in North Carolina.
To survive, he ate baby food and managed to exercise by riding bikes around the shop.
However, he was eventually recaptured and sent back to jail after his fingerprints were discovered on a DVD of the movie ‘Catch Me If You Can’, which starred Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks.
‘Civil War’ actress Dunst is to portray a Toys ‘R Us employee, who Manchester falls for while secretly watching her from inside the shop.
She finds him endearing and eventually learns of his shocking back story.
Despite this, the mother-of-two still wants to care for him.
Derek Cianfrance is directing the flick in his first outing behind the camera since 2016’s ‘The Light Between Oceans’ and has written the script alongside Kirt Gunn.
Meanwhile, Dinklage revealed that he loved having the chance to play a villain after voicing antagonist Scourge in the 2023 film ‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts’.
In an interview with Screen Rant, the ‘Game of Thrones’ actor said: “It’s a lot of fun. Villains are, in my experience, the most fun you can have at the movies because they don’t care. And it’s the movies, so it’s safe.
“You love them because you’re safe from their actual… the reality of what they’re doing. I’ve played a few villains in my day, and I just find they’re fun because they don’t care.”

Giovanni Pernice claims he ‘never had an argument’ with Amanda Abbington during Strictly

OHMYGOSSIP — Giovanni Pernice has insisted he and Amanda Abbington “never had an argument” during their time on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and he is “upset” they didn’t get a chance to make it to the show’s final.
The 34-year-old professional dancer made his first TV appearance on Tuesday (22.10.24) since a ‘Strictly’ investigation into his conduct, which upheld six of 17 complaints Amanda made against him after they competed in the BBC Latin and ballroom competition together last year.
Giovanni admitted he would have a “nice cup of tea” with the 50-year-old actress if he was in the same room with her now.
When asked on ‘Lorraine’, which was hosted by Christine Lampard on Tuesday (22.10.24), if he would want to say sorry to Amanda if he was in a room with her now, Giovanni said: “I think we would have a nice cup of tea, we’ll have a chat and talk about what happened in that room.
“It’s very difficult, because at that time everything was perfect.
“Me and Amanda Abbington never had an argument.”
The pro dancer also admitted he was “upset” that he and Amanda didn’t get the chance to make the final of the 2023 series, after she quit the show last October ahead of Halloween Week.
He said on the ITV morning show: “When you have somebody in your hands, like Amanda, she was brilliant and unbelievable at dancing.
“I’m upset because we could have made it all the way to the final. My job is to take everything out of my partner.”
Giovanni admitted he can be a “strict teacher”, but was “relieved” that the “most serious allegations” in the investigation were “thrown out”.
He said: “It’s in the public domain, the fact I’m a strict teacher.
“If you want to achieve greatness, I think this is the right way to do.
“Teaching the way I teach is the successful way to approach this.
“If you come to the room with me and go ‘you really want to win this’, I will do everything in my power to win this.
“If you suddenly change this and don’t tell me that, there’s nothing I can do. I don’t read minds.”
Giovanni insisted the investigation didn’t find him “a bully”, and claimed he has been called an “amazing teacher” on several occasions.
He said: “The investigation didn’t find me a bully.
“Bully is a big word, there’s a big difference between bullying and caring about what you do.
“All I had was ‘Giovanni you’re an amazing teacher, Giovanni you’re great’.”
But Giovanni hit out at trolls who attacked Amanda with “disgusting” messages.
Asked if there is anything he feels sorry for and would fix, he said: “I think the trolling thing and the messages was disgusting.
“All these messages she received shouldn’t happen at all.”
Giovanni admitted he would “never say never” about a return to ‘Strictly’ in the future.
A spokesperson for Amanda has said: “Mr Pernice’s claim that ‘everything in the rehearsal room worked perfectly’ is false and delusional, and underlines the toxic culture Ms Abbington endured on Strictly Come Dancing.
“The BBC’s own investigation concluded that Mr Pernice was in breach of multiple BBC Policies, including repeated breaches of the Anti-Bullying and Harassment Policy.
“Mr Pernice was spoken to by the BBC on several occasions about his misconduct – but his behaviour only continued. At no time did Ms Abbington regard his verbal abuse or inappropriate sexual behaviour as banter.
“This is precisely the kind of gaslighting behaviour which victims of bullying and harassment often have to endure: it’s these people Ms Abbington will continue to speak up for.”
The BBC apologised to Amanda over her ‘Strictly’ experience after upholding six of the 17 complaints she made against Giovanni.
In a statement last month, the BBC said: “We have assessed the complaints and we have upheld some, but not all, of the complaints made.
“We want to apologise to Amanda Abbington and to thank her for coming forward and taking part. We know this would not have been an easy thing to do.”
The report found that some of the language used by Giovanni towards Amanda could be “belittling” and agreed with the ‘Sherlock’ actress that his feedback was, at times, “overly negative” and that he had used profanity during rehearsals.
The report noted after reviewing several hours of rehearsal footage as part of an official investigation that there were two moments of “inappropriate behaviour of sexual banter in the workplace”, which were found to simply have been “made and received as jokes” between the pair.

Bianca Gascoigne alleges Mohamed Al Fayed sexually assaulted and groomed her

OHMYGOSSIP — Bianca Gascoigne has claimed Mohamed Al Fayed sexually assaulted and groomed her when she worked at Harrods as a teenager.
The 37-year-old model – who is the daughter of former England footballer Paul Gascoigne – told how Egyptian businessman Al Fayed used to be “charming” when she met him at the luxury London department store during visits with her parents, Paul and her mother Sheryl Gascoigne, and afterwards she initially felt “safe” in his presence when she worked at Harrods aged 16.
However, Bianca has claimed Al Fayed – who died in August 2023 aged 94 – used to grope her, forced her to kiss him during weekly meetings, and she recalled an “horrific” incident when Al Fayed once lent her Harrods’ Park Lane apartment to stay in the night before a flight, but she was left “shell-shocked” when he allegedly turned up at the flat and sexually assaulted her.
Speaking on Sky News’ The UK Tonight with Sarah-Jane Mee, she said: “[Al Fayed] turned up at the apartment to my shock, I was just gobsmacked, I was kind of very shell-shocked.
“I just didn’t really know what to do, he came in and then he sat me down on the sofa… he got his privates out and got my hands and was trying to manoeuvre them on his parts.
“When that didn’t work he was trying to force my head on to his lap.
“And I don’t know how but I managed to wiggle away.
“And I think possibly you know, that him knowing my parents… I don’t know, that might have saved me at that moment. But it was horrific.”
The ‘Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins’ star’s claims come after several women have come forward to make allegations against the self-made billionaire following his passing last year.
Following the release of last month’s BBC documentary, ‘Al Fayed: Predator at Harrods’ – in which five women claimed they were raped by the entrepreneur – the Metropolitan Police revealed it had recorded 60 allegations against Al Fayed, some including rape and sexual assault claims.
It has since been revealed 21 women made sex crime allegations against him between 2005 and 2023.
Harrods are now in the process of speaking to more than 250 people about compensation claims over alleged sexual misconduct by Al Fayed.
The department store said in a statement: “Since 2023, Harrods settled a number of claims with women who alleged historic sexual misconduct by Fayed.
“Since the airing of the documentary, so far there are over 250 individuals who are now in Harrods’ process to settle claims directly with the business.”
Scotland Yard has insisted a “detailed and thorough” review of allegations against Al Fayed is underway.
A support group, Justice for Harrods Survivors, has said their lawyers are working with 147 women.

Dragons’ Den star Sara Davies worked ‘twice as hard’ for success due to prejudices

OHMYGOSSIP — Sara Davies had to work “twice as hard” for her success due to people’s prejudices about her.
The ‘Dragons’ Den’ star, 40, is one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the UK – with her arts and crafts company Crafter’s Companion estimated to have brought in £37 million – though the Yorkshire star has now admitted her gender and social background worked against her in her early days.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Quite often I was the only woman in the room, I was the only young person in the room, and I was the only person who sounded like this in the room.
“It used to frustrate me that people had a preconceived idea of me. They assumed that, because I had an accent and sounded like this, clearly I wasn’t as capable, or wasn’t as well educated, or I wasn’t going to be as good as my counterparts who had been through a private education, or who had grown up in a much more well-to-do-town or whatever it is.”
Despite the hardship she faced, Sara turned these hurdles into “fuel” that ultimately propelled her to success.
She continued: “I had to work twice as hard as the other people because I was always under-estimated. I started everything on the back front. I felt it first hand.
“For me, I turned that into fuel whereas a lot of people have been put in a box and they’ll sit in that box, whereas I was ‘You’re not putting me in a god damn box, I’ll show you’.
“It really drove me and that is what has inspired me to make a difference.”

Richard E. Grant delights in Saltburn ‘provoking’ audiences

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard E. Grant is delighted that ‘Saltburn’ “provoked so much” from audiences.
The 67-year-old star featured in Emerald Fennell’s film in the role of Sir James Catton and was amazed that sexual scenes featuring Oliver Quick (Barry Keoghan) caused such a stir in an era where movies and TV are consumed more frequently than ever.
In an interview for the Metro newspaper’s 60 Seconds column, Richard said: “Well, I think in the age we live where you can see anything on social media or download anything at any minute of the day, to have something that is still going to surprise people… and because it deals so forensically with sexual obsession… I love the fact that it provoked so much.
“The director, Emerald Fennell, said: ‘This is a family film. People should watch it with their grandmothers.’ And some of them did. And are still recovering!”
The ‘Hudson Hawk’ actor is also set to feature in the all-star ensemble cast for the film adaptation of Richard Osman’s crime novel ‘The Thursday Murder Club’ – alongside the likes of Dame Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan and Sir Ben Kingsley – but is unable to divulge much about his part.
Richard said: “I don’t want to get kneecapped by the production company, so I can’t tell you.
“You also don’t know whether you’re going to be cut out of the final film. So I could happily tell you, ‘Yes, I’m playing this’, and then you go see the movie, and the person’s not in it.”
Grant starred in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) TV series ‘Loki’ and says he has “great affection” for the superhero tentpole despite criticism of the studio by legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese.
He said: “I have great affection for it. I’m not on the Martin Scorsese page of damning the MCU whatsoever.”

Zoe Saldana wishes she could reshoot Avengers films to understand Gamora’s story

OHMYGOSSIP — Zoe Saldana regrets not having more understanding of Gamora’s story in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
The 46-year-old actress wishes she could get the chance to film the pictures ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’ with directors the Russo brothers again as she didn’t completely grasp their intentions for her alter ego.
Zoe told Variety: “I wish I could go back and reshoot what Gamora was going through in the ‘Avengers’ movies.
“I was not quite understanding what the Russo brothers (were doing). They’re excellent filmmakers and the opportunity they gave me was of a lifetime. To highlight Gamora in such a way in their films is something I’ll always be grateful.”
She continued: “I wish I could go back and redo it so I could push a little harder because it was such a great opportunity to play a daughter having issues with a dad and whether or not she’s having this opportunity to reconciliate or to simply just walk away.
“That would’ve been a great opportunity had I been a little bit more aware of it then.”
Zoe appeared in five MCU movies over nine years and is pleased to have been part of a franchise that “caters” to younger film viewers.
She said: “I know it’s a Marvel movie, and we don’t like to use words like ‘deep’ and ‘Marvel’ in the same sentence, but I like to, and I take great pride in knowing that I was a part of great films that cater to a younger audience and that inspires a younger audience.”
Saldana added on ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’: “What (James Gunn) was doing was something really special.
“We were supposed to see these rejects that came with childhood traumas and disabilities and mental issues. He gave these characters space to be loved and to find a family within their friendship. It was a really important film now that I look back on it.”

Smile 2 director Parker Finn ‘totally’ cast Ray Nicholson as a nod to The Shining

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Smile 2’ director Parker Finn “totally” cast Ray Nicholson to pay homage to ‘The Shining’.
The 32-year-old actor – who is the son of Hollywood legend Jack Nicholson – stars in the newly-released spooky sequel, and the filmmaker, 37, revealed he purposefully signed on Ray to pay tribute to his father’s 1980 horror classic.
The director told Entertainment Weekly: “I think I’m always trying to reference ‘The Shining’. With Ray, he auditioned for that role. The audition was so strong.
“Of course, Jack Nicholson is one of my favorite actors of all time. I love that Ray has very strong genes, and his smile, instantly, I was like, ‘Oh my God, it’s like looking at a young Jack.’
“What really struck me was how well he slipped into that venomous but charming character he’s playing in the film. He could bring again that feeling of, I’m really, really anxious, but part of it is also tickling me.”
‘Smile 2’ follows the pop mega-star Skye Riley (Naomi Scott) as her life begins to unravel after a haunting smile figure takes the form of her former partner Paul (Nicholson) and torments her.
While Parker insisted he didn’t write the role of Paul specifically for Ray, the moviemaker says the actor’s casting ended up being a “wonderful kismet” that proved to be an advantage for the project.
The filmmaker added the similarities between father and son became more apparent when they began working on the picture’s gala scene, which itself pulls from the glowing hues seen in ‘The Shining’s’ iconic bar sequence at the Overlook Hotel.
He explained: “Once we got to the gala, we planned all of those colors.
“As I was working with my costume designer, Alexis Forte, we started trying stuff on Ray for that scene, and as soon as we put what became the costume in the film on him, we were like, ‘Oh my God, this is The Shining. He looks exactly like Jack.”

Carrie-Anne Moss admits her future in The Matrix is uncertain

OHMYGOSSIP — Carrie-Anne Moss is unsure if she will return for another follow-up to ‘The Matrix’.
The 57-year-old actress reprised her role as Trinity opposite Keanu Reeves’ Neo after 18 years for the 2021 legacy sequel ‘The Matrix: Resurrections’ though has now admitted that she doesn’t know if her action heroine will appear in the franchise going forward.
Speaking with MovieWeb, ‘The Acolyte’ star said: “I loved going back, and that was certainly a big surprise. I did not see that coming. So, I mean, who knows, you know? I don’t.
“I kind of just take my life as it comes, and you just don’t ever know.”
While her future in the sci-fi series remains up in the air, Moss emphasised that she is still close with Reeves.
She said: “We’re good friends. A lot of the moms at my daughter’s school are all in love with him. It’s so funny, so cute.”
Despite the underwhelming performance at the box office for ‘The Matrix Resurrections’, Warner Bros. announced earlier this year that a fifth instalment in the franchise was in development, though the studio did not confirm whether Reeves or Moss would be reprising their respective roles in the upcoming flick.
The movie will be helmed by ‘The Martian’ filmmaker Drew Goddard – making the blockbuster the first project in the series not to be directed by either of the franchise’s creators Lana or Lilly Wachowski – although the latter will be involved as an executive producer.
While plot details are being kept under wraps, Warner Bros. Discovery chief Jesse Ehrman previously teased the story would progress the fantasy world without straying from the franchise’s unique identity.
In a statement, Ehrman said: “Drew came to Warner Bros. with a new idea that we all believe would be an incredible way to continue the ‘Matrix’ world, by both honouring what Lana and Lilly began over 25 years ago and offering a unique perspective based on his own love of the series and characters.
“The entire team at Warner Bros. Discovery is thrilled for Drew to be making this new ‘Matrix’ film, adding his vision to the cinematic canon the Wachowskis’ spent a quarter of a century building here at the studio.”

Aidan Turner says ‘cut-throat’ themes of Rivals were similar to acting auditions

OHMYGOSSIP — Aidan Turner could relate to the “ruthless” themes of ‘Rivals’.
The 41-year-old star plays TV presenter Declan O’Hara in the Disney+ reworking of Jilly Cooper’s novel of the same name and noticed parallels between the “cut-throat” themes of the story and his rise to acting success.
Aidan told Metro.co.uk: “It’s in every profession at a certain level too. It does get a bit ruthless. I do remember in my 20s it was pretty cut-throat – even from friends.
“It was those horrible moments that I’m sure the characters in the show experience, where you really, really want to be happy for your friend – and thankfully all that’s gone now – but I do remember those moments when you’d be up for the same castings (and it was cut-throat).
“It’s similar in this world: there are a lot of transactional dynamics with these relationships, everyone’s after something and wants something, so everyone’s kind of on the make anyway. There’s a certain ruthlessness in this show that mirrors (the experience of rising up the ranks).”
Aidan’s character Declan is at the centre of the rivalry between TV executives Rupert Campbell-Black (Alex Hassell) and Lord Tony Baddingham (David Tennant) in the show and even revealed took inspiration from his father in terms of his alter ego’s mannerisms.
The ‘Poldark’ star said: “I sprinkled a bit of my own father in there the way he talks, his tone and the way he holds himself.
“He also rocked a ‘tache in the 80s and 90s. I’ve been dying to play him for years.”
Aidan’s co-star Nafessa Williams also used her relatives as inspiration for her role as career-driven producer Cameron Cook.
She said: “I had very vivid memories of how they looked and how they dressed, and just how they carried themselves. So I did that.”

Emily Atack thought she would be ‘unlucky in love’ forever

OHMYGOSSIP — Emily Atack thought she was destined to be “unlucky in love” forever.
The 34-year-old comedienne is now in a relationship with nuclear scientist Dr Alistair Garner and the pair have four-month-old son Barney together but she admitted that just before it all happened for her, she had suffered from “very low self-esteem” and had resigned herself to the idea that it probably never would.
She told HELLO! magazine: “I thought I was always going to be that person who was unlucky in love, and I think once that narrative is painted, it’s hard to break. I’m a very confident person, but I’ve had very low self-esteem in the past, forming bad patterns and habits. And then I got to a point where I was just like, maybe that’s never going to happen for me. And then it just did.”
But the ‘Rivals’ actress – who shot to fame as Charlotte Hinchcliffe on ‘The Inbetweeners’ and later came runner up on ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’ – joked that it is “quite funny” when she and her significant other compare their days at work, although she is pleased that she has found someone who “understands” the way her career works.
She said: “So, comparing our days is quite funny. I’m like, ‘What did you do today? How are the nuclear reactors?’ And he’s like, ‘yeah, good, how about you?’ And I say, ‘I tried to fit into some Spanx, and I couldn’t.’ So, in that way, we couldn’t be more polar opposite, but we are so similar. We have the same sense of humour and find the same things hilarious. I’m glad I’ve ended up with somebody who knows me so well and understands me completely and understands my life and my world.”

Max Bowden is ‘fearless’ after five years of acting in EastEnders

OHMYGOSSIP — Max Bowden says starring in ‘EastEnders’ has made him “fearless”.
The 29-year-old actor played Ben Mitchell in the BBC soap for five years until his departure in March and believes it is one of the “hardest gigs” in TV as he was always reliant on “impulse” during frequent scenes on the show.
Max is quoted by the Daily Star newspaper’s HotTV column as saying: “‘EastEnders’ is one of the hardest gigs, if not the hardest gig, in acting because a lot of the time you have to strip away your technique and rely on impulse.
“I carry quite a lot of ‘the method’ in my approach to my acting, and it’s easy to get a bit lost in the work as a result.
“So it’s shaped me in that I no longer approach anything with fear.
“It’s a brilliant place to hone your skills, so I’m very grateful for my time there.”
Max left Albert Square after his alter ego Ben was extradited to the United States for credit card fraud but he felt it was the right time to leave the soap as he was suffering from burnout after “nearly six hundred episodes” of emotionally demanding stories.
He told YouTube series ‘The Lewis Nicholls Show’: “The important thing was my time was ready. I was very tired, and like I said, I wasn’t me, I wasn’t.
“The Max sat in front of you today was kind of a ghost, and they recognised that – I recognised that.
“I did nearly six hundred episodes in five years, which is a hell of a lot, and it was time for a rest. The character was tired, I was tired, they [the producers] were probably tired of me being tired.
“From an honest perspective, I think yeah, a lot of it was that I needed to go for a bit. I needed to go work on me, get myself back to a place of really good mental health, focus on healing and also be a dad.”

Nicole Kidman found racy Babygirl scenes ‘liberating’

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicole Kidman found shooting her raunchy scenes with Harris Dickinson for ‘Babygirl’ “liberating”.
The 57-year-old actress stars in the upcoming erotic movie opposite ‘The Iron Claw’ star, 28, and has explained she felt completely safe performing the intimate sequences due to female director Halina Reijn ensuring neither actor was pushed out of their comfort zones.
During a recent Q+A session, Kidman said: “There’s a sort of a jump off the cliff thing where you go, okay, I’m just going to abandon everything and explore this with the people that I trust in a genre that is already set, but hopefully we can explore new territory and especially with the female at the helm.
“You have your director at the helm going, ‘I will protect you. Nothing that’s going to be in the film will be anything that you are not comfortable with. You are going to be okay.’”
The ‘Eyes Wide Shut’ actress emphasised she also had an “enormous amount of trust” in her young co-star for these scenes.
She added: “We would look at each other and go, ‘Okay.’”
While Dickinson admitted he was sometimes “really terrified” to film intimate scenes with Kidman, the actor insisted Reijn never forced them to continue shooting if they became uncomfortable.
He said: “Of course there were days where I would go in really terrified of a scene or I don’t know how I’m going to do this.
“There was never a day that if the scene wasn’t working or if we weren’t comfortable or we weren’t getting something, we never felt that time was more important. It was just like, ‘Okay, everyone go away for a second.’”
‘Babygirl’ – which hits cinemas on Christmas Day (25.12.24) – follows powerful CEO Romy (Kidman) who puts her career and life’s work in danger when she begins an intense affair with her young intern Samuel (Dickinson).
The ‘Big Little Lies’ star said she was attracted to the project because it was “an area [she’d] never been” in her career.
She explained: “I’ve always been on a quest as an actor, I’m always going, where have I not been? And what can I explore as a human being? And this was an area I’d never been.”
