Two brand new dramas coming to Netflix from the creators of Fool Me Once

OHMYGOSSIP — Netflix has announced two new drama series from the writer of ‘Fool Me Once’.
The hit thriller series – which is based on the 2016 novel by Harlan Coben – follows Michelle Keegan as ex-solider Maya Stern, a young widow trying to get to the bottom of why her late husband appeared on her nanny cam after his death, and now the streaming giant has announced two more books from the best-selling author will be adapted for the platform.
‘Missing You’ will be adapted by screenwriter Victoria Asare-Archer from the 2014 novel of the same name and will focus on a detective whose fiance has been missing for almost 20 years when she suddenly spots him on a dating app.
Meanwhile, ‘Run Away’ is the 2019 novel by Coben which tells the story of a man whose daughter disappears and when he manages to find her by chance, he discovers that she is now a drug addict living as part of a violent underworld.
It will be adapted into a limited series by Danny Brocklehurst, who also wrote the screenplay for ‘Fool Me Once’.
Both projects will be produced by Quay Street Productions and filming for ‘Missing You’ will commence in the spring of 2024.
‘Fool Me Once’ has been seen by 61 million viewers worldwide and insiders have recently suggested that the success of the series could lead to a Hollywood career for Michelle, who shot to fame playing barmaid Tina McIntyre on ITV1 soap opera ‘Coronation Street’ in 2008 before going on to star in a host of British dramas like ‘Our Girl’ and ‘Ten Pound Poms’.
A source told Mail Online: “The response to ‘Fool Me Once’ has been overwhelming.
“The phone calls and offers have been coming in from Hollywood film executives, it’s different to anything Michelle has experienced before.
“Netflix is a global platform and the show has given her the opportunity to shine.
“Her career has already been a success but now her star is rising, everyone can feel that this is the beginning of something special.
“Michelle feels lucky that she’s always played likeable characters but now she’s hoping to take it up a notch by landing a film role.
“She aspires to play a dark character in a hard-hitting thriller, which will be a challenge that she’s completely ready for.”

Strictly winner Ellie Leach to invite cameras into her home as part of new series

OHMYGOSSIP — Ellie Leach has joined the cast of ‘Drama Queens’.
The 22-year-old actress played the role of Faye Windass on ‘Coronation Street’ but left the ITV1 soap opera in 2023 after more than a decade on the show and after going on to win the latest edition of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, is “so excited” to be starring in the upcoming reality show.
She told The Sun newspaper: “I’m so excited about ‘Drama Queens’. People are so used to seeing me play the character Faye Windass and I’m just so excited for everyone to see who I am and what goes on in my day-to-day life as just Ellie.”
The ITVBe series – which is set to launch in the spring – will focus on the everyday lives of women who have starred in ‘Coronation Street’ as well as the broadcaster’s other soap opera ‘Emmerdale’.
A source said: “Ellie proved to be hugely popular on ‘Strictly’ and ITV think she’ll be a hit on this fly-on-the-wall series.
“Along with the other actresses, Ellie is inviting fans to have an insight into what her life is really like.
Soaps are absolutely massive in the UK and get over 10 million people tuning in each week so ITV think this could be huge.”
Ellie’s cousin Brooke Vincent – who played Sophie Webster from 2004 until 2019 – will give viewers a glimpse into her home life with Kean Bryan and their children Mexx, three, and two-year-old Monroe.
She said: “I am excited to show the authentic side of having small children whilst trying to navigate my way back into the acting world.
“Drama Queens allows me to showcase the reality of trying to find the work-home life balance of a young actress in what can seem a glamorous world.”
Meanwhile, Lucy Fallon – who recently returned to her role of Bethany Platt on ‘Coronation Street’ after four years away – welcomed Sonny Jude in January 2023 with footballer Ryan Ledson wants viewers to see how she balances her career with motherhood.
She said: “I’m excited for viewers to see a real ‘behind the scenes’ of my chaotic life as an actress and a first-time mum!”
Other stars lined up to take part in the series include Amy Walsh – who has played Tracy Robinson on ‘Emmerdale’ for a decade – and her co-stars Roxy Shahidi and Laura Norton, who play Leyla Hardi and Kerry Wyatt respectively, along with ‘Hollyoaks’ actress Jorgie Porter, who is known for starring as Theresa McQueen on the Channel 4 soap.

‘Celebrity Big Brother’ bosses ‘rule out recruiting any more politicians for show’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ bosses have reportedly ruled out getting any more politicians on the show.
The rumoured policy comes after a string of former MPs have appeared on reality shows, with ITV’s ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ recently featuring ex-health minister Matt Hancock, as well as ex-MEP Nigel Farage.
A TV source told The Sun: “The feeling is that politicians haven’t necessarily worked as well as producers might have hoped when they’re on these shows. At best they can be divisive, at worst plain boring.
“And they tend to be costly too, because they have to be big names, and the big beast politicians tend to come at a price.
“Bosses also feel like they aren’t quite right for the mix they’re trying to achieve for ‘CBB’.
“That’s despite the fact that they have already had a few politicians trying to throw their hat in the ring, to no avail.”
Mr Hancock has also appeared on Channel 4’s ‘Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins’ with former House of Commons Speaker John Bercow featuring on ‘The Traitors’ in America.
A series of ex-politicians have also popped up on the BBC’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, including Ed Balls, Edwina Currie, Ann Widdecombe and former business secretary Sir Vince Cable.
He took part in the ‘Strictly’ Christmas special in 2010 after previously admitting to having a “serious ambition” to appear on the ballroom dancing programme.
The Sun has also reported ITV have a £2 million budget to sign up big-name stars to ‘CBB’.
A version of the show featuring members of the public was launched on ITV2 from October to November last year, with hosts Will Best and AJ Odudu at the helm.
It is switching to ITV1 as ‘CBB’ in March with the same two presenters fronting the show, and it is understood the change to the main channel on the network has led to pressure for high-profile faces to appear.

Denise Welch slashing work to avoid being in ‘early grave’

OHMYGOSSIP — Denise Welch is cutting back on work this year so she doesn’t end up in an “early grave”.
The ‘Loose Women’ presenter, 65, added she now turns down most job offers because she prefers to be tanning on a sun-lounger.
She told the Daily Star Sunday: “I’m not scared of ageing but I am obviously aware I’m 14 years older than my husband Lincoln (Townley.)
“I’ve seen too many people work themselves into an early grave to do that myself.
“Why would I work myself to death when I can afford to go on holiday?
“I just want to enjoy our life together and take as many holidays as we can.”
Denise, whose TV roles have included parts in ‘Coronation Street’, ‘Waterloo Road’ and ‘Hollyoaks’, added: “I no longer accept everything that I am offered. I’m no longer scared to turn things down.
“I am in a fortunate position where I can now be choosy, and not everyone can.
“I don’t know if it will last – I may not be in that position again. Who knows?
“So I am just determined to make the most of life now. I am grateful to be blessed with a very happy, loving marriage.”
Denise added despite her love of breaks, she and her husband are a “bit common” when it comes to their getaways.
She said: “I’m not that cultural or bothered about being a tourist – a good holiday to me is being laid next to Lincoln on a sun-lounger by the pool. I don’t need anything fancy.”
Denise also stressed she had no plans to leave ‘Loose Women’, saying: “We all get on despite people trying to say we are always fighting, which we aren’t.
“I have been on the show for 22 years and never once had a fall out with anyone.”

Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff ‘has returned to TV work after horror Top Gear crash’

OHMYGOSSIP — Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff is said to have returned to TV work for the first time since his horror ‘Top Gear’ crash.
The former cricketer, 46, has reportedly been in planning meetings with production company South Shore for the second series of his BBC One cricket show ‘Field of Dreams’.
A TV source told The Sun: “Freddie and staff have been quietly working on it since last month.
“It’s a show he feels passionate about and he’s excited to be returning to the grass roots of the sport.
“It will be his first major TV project in two years. Filming will start in a few months, when it’s warmer outside, and will take place in the north of England.
“A lot of the same production team will be involved in this series so Freddie will feel comfortable ahead of his big telly return.”
Freddie is also said to have been liaising with the crew and is expected to begin filming on the programme – which sees him introducing children to the joys of cricket – in the spring.
The dad-of-four was involved in his horrific ‘Top Gear’ crash when he was driving an open-topped three wheeled car without a helmet when it flipped at Dunsfold Park Aerodrome in Surrey in December 2022.
He was airlifted to hospital and left with severe facial injuries and broken ribs.
‘Top Gear’ has since been axes and the BBC reached a £9 million settlement with the ex-cricketer.
As well as returning to TV Freddie has also taken up a role as head coach of cricket team Northern Superchargers in The Hundred and completed some work last year as a consultant coach with the England cricket team.

Ricky Hatton ‘gutted’ to be first axed from Dancing On Ice

OHMYGOSSIP — Ricky Hatton has been voted off ‘Dancing On Ice’.
The former boxer was “gutted” to be the first celebrity axed from the show after he and partner Robin Johnstone – who first performed last week – faced this week’s bottom-placed skater Lou Sanders and her partner Brendyn Hatfield in the dreaded skate-off but failed to impress the judges.
Speaking after the vote, he said: “I’m gutted to be going home, I’ve tried to be a winner in all my life and everything I’ve done – it’s been a while since I saw the second round.
“I think I will carry on skating, I may have gone out in the first round but I’ve had a great time and met some wonderful friends.
“I’d like to thank Robin and the coaches for their hard work and even though I’m going home in the first round, I’ll be going home happy.”
All four judges opted to save Lou and Brendyn.
Ashley Banjo said: “Both of you levelled up not even once but probably two levels from your original skate so both of you should be proud, especially you Ricky. But based on the content and the skating, I’ll save Lou and Brendan.”
Oti Mabuse added: “My vote is going to the strongest skate, the one with the most content.”
Christopher Dean said: “Ricky, far more content and feeling but it is about the skating so tonight I’m saving Lou and Brendyn.”
This week’s head judge, Jayne Torvill, confirmed she’d have also opted to send home Ricky and Robin.
She said: “I would have saved Lou and Brendyn because it was a much better performance.”
While the first two weeks of the show had seen the couples split into two groups of six, next Sunday (28.01.24) will see all 11 remaining pairs take to the ice for Movie Week.

Adele Roberts heartbroken after mother’s death

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Dancing On Ice’ star Adele Roberts has been left heartbroken following the death of her mother Jackie.
Jackie passed away in early January at the age of 61, but Adele decided she didn’t want to share the sad news until after she had completed her first performance on the TV talent show on Sunday night (21.01.24) – and she credited her family and friends as well as skating partner Mark Hanretty with getting her through the tough time.
In a post on Instagram, Adele wrote: “For you Mum. Tonight’s performance was dedicated to the memory of my beautiful Mum, Jackie Roberts. 01.09.62 – 04.01.24.
“I didn’t want to say anything until I’d managed to get through our routine tonight. So apologies if it seemed I was overly emotional.
“My heart is broken and I miss my mum so much. Saying goodbye to her this week was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. My mum got to see the start of our routine … and tonight I wanted to finish it in her honour.”
Adele added: “To my family. Thank you for keeping my head up and for giving me the strength to carry on. Thank you also to all the amazing people who came to help us say goodbye to her this week. You brought us so much comfort standing by our side.
“Thank you to the whole incredible ‘Dancing On Ice’ team for guiding me through one of the toughest weeks of my life. Especially you @markhanretty.
“I know how much you wanted to help me do my mum proud and I know it would have been playing on your mind all night. You are incredible.
“Thank you for teaching me to dance, to skate and joy of expressing emotion through my body. Your sport is so beautiful. I still can’t believe tonight happened.”
The 44-year-old TV and radio star concluded by writing: “Thank you to every single person who has supported us so far. We are absolutely blown away by your encouragement and kindness. Mark and I are truly grateful and we promise to keep trying our best and give it 100 per cent.
“And to my biggest supporter from day one – my incredible mum. Goodnight my love. I shall think of you and miss you everyday of my life. Forever my hero. Until we meet again.”
Adele is competing on the show alongside other stars including Claire Sweeney, who wrote a sweet comment on her co-star’s Instagram post, telling her: “You are such a beautiful brave woman and your mum would have been so proud.”
Fellow DOI contestant Ryan Thomas added: “You did her so proud tonight.”
Adele has made a strong start to the skating competition by scoring the highest marks of the series so far with 27.5 for her debut routine.

Vera to return for two further episodes

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Vera’ is set to return for two new feature-length episodes.
Brenda Blethyn, 77, will be back as DCI Vera Stanhope in the ITV crime drama set in the North East.
Production is scheduled for this spring, with a release date yet to be confirmed.
The news came as the 13th series wrapped on Sunday (21.01.24).
Vera and DI Joe Ashworth, who she doesn’t always see eye to eye with, investigated the death of a chip shop owner who was discovered in his store’s freezer.
The plot read: “A seemingly successful entrepreneur and dedicated family man, Vera uncovers secrets, lies and some unforgivable behaviour as she tries to unwrap the case.
“Once the investigation begins, it soon becomes apparent that our enigmatic entrepreneur has left behind debts, broken promises, ruined lives and seriously interfered in family business that was not his own. Who is responsible for this unsavoury chip shop assault and battery?”
No other cast members have been confirmed as of yet, however, David Leon (Joe), 43, admitted last year he would be keen to reprise his role.
He told RadioTimes.com: “I’d certainly be very open to [returning].
“We haven’t had any conversations about that as things stand, but it’s something I’m very proud of and I’d certainly be open-minded to that.”

Oliver Stone says Ryan Gosling is ‘wasting his time’ with films like Barbie

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Gosling shouldn’t be “wasting his time” making films like ‘Barbie’, according to director Oliver Stone.
The ‘Wall Street’ filmmaker has weighed in on the current state of the movie industry and he singled out Ryan following his appearance in Greta Gerwig’s doll-themed blockbuster – accusing the actor of contributing to the “infantilisation of Hollywood”.
Stone told City AM: “Ridiculous. Ryan Gosling is wasting his time if he’s doing that … for money. He should be doing more serious films. He shouldn’t be a part of this infantilisation of Hollywood. Now it’s all fantasy, fantasy, fantasy, including all the war pictures: fantasy, fantasy.”
The moviemaker went on to take aim at the ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise, declaring: “Even the ‘Fast and Furious’ movies, which I used to enjoy, have become like Marvel movies. I mean, how many crashes can you see?” and he also reserved some wrath for Keanu Reeves’ ‘John Wick films.
Stone added: “On the plane I watched ‘John Wick’, which is three hours and some. And I fell asleep about 778 times during it. I kept waking up and having to face him killing more people. It’s like the world has degenerated into non-logic.”
Stone’s comments about ‘Barbie’ come after the film’s star Margot Robbie has played down the prospect of a sequel.
The 33-year-old actress played the title role in last summer’s hit blockbuster and was also a producer – and she explained a follow-up isn’t a priority for her or director Greta.
Margot told Variety: “It’s funny, that knee-jerk reaction in this day and age for everyone to immediately ask about a sequel. I don’t think it was like that 20 years ago. This wasn’t designed to be a trilogy.
“Everything went into ‘Barbie’ – and that’s how Greta works. She finishes every movie on empty, feeling like she could never make another movie because she put everything she had into that one. So I don’t know what it would take to fill that cup up again for her. Or for us.”

Glen Powell confirms Top Gun 3

OHMYGOSSIP — Glen Powell has confirmed he’s returning for ‘Top Gun 3’.
Days after word got out that Paramount has another instalment in the pipeline after the success of 2022’s ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ – a sequel to the original 1986 ‘Top Gun’ movie – Glen has teased that himself (Hangman), Tom Cruise (Maverick) and Miles Teller (Rooster) will be reuniting and an official announcement is coming soon.
Speaking to Variety, he said of the rumour: “People looked at me like I knew what was going on.
“There is going to be some fun stuff being announced soon…but it was confidential to me. I talk to [Joseph] Kosinski, Cruise and Jerry [Bruckheimer] all the time. There is stuff happening and it sounds very exciting. I don’t know when I’ll be going back…I’m sure there is a jet waiting for me sometime in the future.”
Ehren Kruger, who co-wrote ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, is said to be penning a draft script for the new instalment of the blockbuster film franchise.
It is also thought producers Jerry Bruckheimer and David Ellison will return to the franchise, and ‘Maverick’ director Joe Kosinski could return to helm or produce the next motion picture.
‘Top Gun: Maverick’ was nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and walked away with Best Sound.
The movie was also the highest-grossing of Cruise’s career after raking in more than $1.49 billion at the worldwide box office.
Director Kosinski previously credited the “old-school” nature of ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ for the movie’s popularity.
Asked about the film’s superb box office performance, the filmmaker told The Hollywood Reporter: “Well, we made the film to be enjoyed on the big screen, in the best theatre you can find, and we finally were at a time where people felt comfortable going back to the theatre to rediscover that experience that we all missed for a couple of years. So I think that had a lot to do with it.
“The story also resonated with people. They got to see Tom come back to the role of Maverick after 35 years, and that was a real thrill for people. So we just wanted to make an old-school movie.
“We shot it in an old-school way with real high-tech gear, and I think people really felt all the effort that went into shooting a practical movie.
“The feedback I kept getting from people was that they were gripping the edge of their seat while watching this. So it’s one of those things where you really appreciate the power of practical filmmaking as you’re being told a story.”

Loose Women’s Kaye Adams reveals ‘most traumatic’ 48 hours: ‘I was absolutely terrified!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Kaye Adams had the “most traumatic 48 hours” after losing her hearing in one ear.
The 61-year-old journalist is a long-serving anchor on the ITV1 chat show ‘Loose Women’ and revealed that just before going on air for Friday (19.01.24), her right ear suddenly stopped working and while she managed to get through the episode, she spent the weekend trying to figure out what had happened.
Speaking in a video posted to Instagram, she said: “I have had the most traumatic 48 hours. Here’s a little Sunday story for you.
“On Friday, when I was doing ‘Loose Women’, minutes before we went on air, my right ear just went dead. I put my earpiece in and there was no sound. I couldn’t hear a thing. I was absolutely terrified. I thought ‘Oh my God, what has gone wrong?’ So anyway, I kind of got through the programme, got home couldn’t hear anything. I’m looking up online..what could it be? And it said to go to A+E. So, the next day I go to A+E in Glasgow. They were amazing, absolutely amazing. Anita, the nurse, thank you. We discovered we had the same birthday, except she’s a year younger than me. But my God, she was fantastic.”
The former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ contestant – who appeared on the very first episode of ‘Loose Women’ in 1999 and hosted regularly until 2006 before returning in 2013 – then went to get an audiogram where despite initially worrying she had some sort of tumour, the issue turned out to be a case of impacted earwax.
She said: “Then I had to go to get an audiogram and I went to Boots in Glasgow. Paula, thank you, you were amazing, absolutely incredible, thank you.
“And she did an examination. I’m embarrassed to say this because my head was going to some terrible, terrible tumour. I’m very melodramatic and Paula pulls out the biggest bit of wax you have ever seen!”

Julia Sawalha was ‘terrified’ during The Masked Singer: ‘I nearly burst into tears!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Julia Sawalha almost “burst into tears” before taking to the stage on ‘The Masked Singer’.
The 55-year-old actress – who is best known for her role as Saffron Monsoon on ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ – had been taking part in the ITV1 singing competition in which celebrities conceal their identities with extravagant costumes and after she was revealed as Bubble Tea on Saturday (20.01.24) episode, she admitted that she had never been so “terrified” and had to “pull [herself] together” before her performance.
She told The Daily Mirror newspaper: “When I was first being walked through the tunnel, I had this moment where the production team were being so kind and I had a fight or flight moment. I felt like a four year old, I wanted to run. I’ve never been so terrified in my entire career. So, I nearly burst into tears and thought, ‘No, it’s ridiculous, isn’t it?’. I just had to pull myself together.”
In her role on the BBC sitcom, Julia played the long-suffering daughter of hapless PR guru Edina Monsoon (Jennifer Saunders) and the comedienne had coincidentally been serving as a guest judge on the show alongside regulars Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan and Jonathan Ross,
But the former ‘Lark Rise to Candleford’ actress worried that viewers of ‘The Masked Singer’ would worry it was all a “fix” when they saw her reunited with her on-screen mother and insisted that the whole situation was a surprise to them both.
She said: “I was saying to her afterwards, ‘People will think it’s fixed.
“She said, ‘Not when they see my face. I had absolutely no idea!
“It’s weird how the stars align. I could just about make her out. I thought, ‘There’s someone I know.’ It’s lovely. She didn’t know, but I knew, it didn’t intimidate me at all. Completely the opposite!”
Julia lost out on her place in the next stage of the show after going head-to-head with Owl and now the mystery celebrity will battle it out against Piranha, Air Fryer, and Eiffel Tower to remain on the show.
Her exit followed that of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ judge Shirley Ballas in week three, whilst ‘Pointless’ host Alexander Armstrong was unmasked as Chicken Caesar in week two, and ‘I’ll Never Fall In Love Again’ singer Dionne Warwick was unmasked as Weather in the first episode of the new series.

Brian Blessed ‘wrestled 48 stone gorilla he made pals with at zoo!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Brian Blessed claims he wrestled a 48 stone gorilla he befriended at a zoo.
The ‘Z Cars’ actor, 87, added he thinks female apes find him “sexy” during a talk about his film and TV career.
Speaking at the Rose Theatre in Kingston, south-west London, he said: “Female gorillas find me sexy. There used to be one in Surrey, a big bull gorilla called Gurgis, who was about 48 stone and I used to wrestle him. I used to make him laugh a lot.
“Sometimes I used to pretend Gurgis was hurting me and all the female gorillas used to come running. I was only acting.
“The female gorillas used to sit with me.
“You had to empty your pockets as before you know it they’ve got your glasses and are wearing them.
“But females gorillas always found me sexy. They used to try and grab you and they know how to unzip.
“The universal word to tell them to stop is ‘Ah, ah’, like a warning.”
Brian also told his fans about the death of his actress wife Hildegarde Neil, who passed away last September at 84.
He said: “She was a great Cleopatra with Charlton Heston – and in the movie ‘The Man Who Haunted Himself’, with Roger Moore.
“She was very beautiful and lovely, and we were married for 45 years. She passed away peacefully.
“She had pneumonia about two years ago and she got rid of that. She got cancer and got rid of that. Then she got Covid and she got rid of that.
“She fought and fought and fought but she passed way.
“I have always adored women. I have learned so much from women.
“It is lovely to see ladies everywhere. It is wonderful, they are so brave and I love women enormously.
“And I am very grateful for all they have taught me in my life.”

Ricky Hatton up for boxing comeback after ‘Dancing on Ice’ exit

OHMYGOSSIP — Ricky Hatton says he is up for a boxing comeback after his ‘Dancing on Ice’ exit.
The former world champion fighter, 45, who became the first star to leave the ITV skating contest on Sunday (21.01.24) night, said the match would only be an “exhibition” fight and not a professional return to the ring.
He told the Daily Star: “I’d box again for an exhibition. If something like that came up, I’d look at doing it. There are a lot of exhibitions being done now and I’m all for it.
“I’d do one where there’s an understanding and where it’s a competitive spar where no liberties are being taken.
“I’d do something where I could showcase my skills one last time without anyone getting hurt.”
Ricky – mocked as ‘Ricky Fatton’ during his fighting days due to his yo-yo’ing weight in between fights – also said he is now in top condition again after getting rid of weight while on ‘Dancing on Ice’.
He added: “I lost some weight and I’m keeping it off. From a fitness point of view, I’m in pretty decent nick.
“If I go back to Ricky Fatton again, I might not get the weight off. I don’t want that to happen.
“Just because you retire, doesn’t mean you stop setting goals.”
The second live show on Sunday of the new ‘Dancing on Ice’ saw the remaining six celebrities take to the ice with their first routines.
Ricky found himself in a skate off against comedian Lou Sanders, 48, with the ex-boxer dancing to ‘If I Can Dream’ by Elvis Presley and the stand-up performing again to ‘Try’ by Pink.
The former fighter said after getting the boot following the skate off: “I’m gutted to be going home.
“I’ve tried to be a winner all my life in everything I’ve done. It’s been a while since I saw the second round.
“I’ve had a great time, I’ve met some wonderful friends.
“I’d like to thank Robin for all her hard work, the coaches for all their hard work.”

‘I’ve missed it’: Sebastian Stan eager to make Marvel return

OHMYGOSSIP — Sebastian Stan is “excited” to be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
The 41-year-old actor will reprise his role as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier in the superhero movie ‘Thunderbolts’ and admits that he has “missed” playing the character.
Sebastian told Variety: “I’m excited. I’m going to go back in a month or so. I’ve missed it. It’s a great cast.”
Marvel has suffered at the box office in recent times with flicks such as ‘The Marvels’ failing to impress audiences but Sebastian thinks the studio will soon return to form.
The ‘Pam and Tommy’ actor explained: “The batting average is so high that it’s difficult to always land everything right away. It’s always been a great experience. With this one in particular, I think there’s a lot of good things.”
Sebastian’s latest role is the movie ‘A Different Man’ – which tells the story of an aspiring actor with a facial disability who has a medical procedure to transform his appearance – and he admits that he was “cautious” about taking the part.
He said: “It’s an important story. It’s a subject that doesn’t really get a lot of light on it. We just really wanted to do it right.”
Stan is joined in ‘A Different Man’ by British actor Adam Pearson, who has the condition neurofibromatosis and is hoping that the movie provides more representation for performers with facial disabilities.
Adam said: “Normally there are three kinds of roles or tropes for us.
“We’re either the villain because I have a disfigurement and I want to kill Batman or James Bond, or the victim like ‘woe is me’, or the hero, because I have a disability but do regular stuff I’m somehow braver than the next guy.
“It’s lazy writing. Why are non-disabled people writing about disability without consultation? When that happens, the end result… you might get it right once, but nine times out of 10 it’s going to be very inauthentic and inaccurate.”

Jodie Foster hopes Barbie success allows Hollywood to trust female filmmakers

OHMYGOSSIP — Jodie Foster hopes that the success of ‘Barbie’ encourages Hollywood to put more faith in female filmmakers.
The Oscar-winning actress has seen female directors battle for recognition during her career and thinks that the accomplishments of Greta Gerwig’s blockbuster – which has grossed over $1 billion at the box office – should change how the industry perceives women behind the camera.
Jodie told Variety: “I’ve had the beauty of being able to be in the business since the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and so on.
“The progression or bettering of our audiences translates into a kind of new thinking about who our marginalised voices are. In the old days, they saw women as a risk. Not sure why they saw us a risk – 50 per cent of the population!”
The 61-year-old star continued: “That thinking has changed now. With a big success like ‘Barbie’, they gave Greta Gerwig, who had made two mostly independent films, they gave her the keys to the kingdom and said, ‘We’re going to give you our most important child’, and all the money to support it. That’s new for women. I hope that continues.”
Meanwhile, the ‘True Detective: Night Country’ star recently complained about the dominance of superhero movies – describing it as a “phase that’s lasted a little too long”.
Jodie told Elle magazine: “It’s a phase. It’s a phase that’s lasted a little too long for me, but it’s a phase, and I’ve seen so many different phases.
“Hopefully people will be sick of it soon. The good ones – like ‘Iron Man’, ‘Black Panther’, ‘The Matrix’ – I marvel at those movies, and I’m swept up in the entertainment of it, but that’s not why I became an actor.
“And those movies don’t change my life. Hopefully there’ll be room for everything else.”
