Me an actual dad! Can you believe it, I’m genuinely so excited!?

Andi Oliver reveals why she was ‘ready’ for fame later in life: ‘It’s hard for young people!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Andi Oliver was “ready” for TV fame by the time it came about.
The 61-year-old chef is now known for presenting shows like ‘Great British Menu’ as well as other culinary documentaries but did not find fame until she was in her forties and believes that entering the public eye is “very hard” for young people as she reflected on her lifelong friendship with singer Neneh Cherry.
Asked if she felt prepared for fame, she told Good Housekeeping magazine: “Absolutely. By the time people were stopping me in the street, I was ready for it. I don’t know if I could have dealt with it when I was younger. I watched my best friend, Nana [Neneh Cherry], go through it, and it was pretty hard.
“She was very young and it happened really quickly. She dealt with it in the most regal, brilliant manner, but it was exhausting emotionally. At one point, she got quite ill. Fame is very hard for young people, and to develop emotionally is hard. By the time it happened to me, I was kind of cooked already!”
Andi – who is mother to fellow TV presenter Miquita Oliver and has appeared on ‘Celebrity Gogglebox’ with her – is now appearing on the new series of ‘Great British Menu’ on BBC Two and thinks that the latest edition of the culinary competition for professionals will be “spectacular” because of the “culturally diverse backgrounds” represented within the contestants.
She said: “It’s going to be spectacular. We’re at a very interesting time in the restaurant industry because it used to be that chefs felt they had to leave where they grew up and come to London to find success; that there was only one route to culinary excellence. People don’t feel they have to do that anymore.
“Food has been a white, male-led industry for decades, but each year we find more and more women and people from different ethnicities and culturally diverse backgrounds. And this year, we’ve done that again. I’m really excited to be part of the change happening before my eyes.”

The 65-year-old actor, who had appeared on ‘EastEnders’ as Vinnie Monks, suffered what he described as a “funny turn” after coming off stage at the Sutton Comedy club in London last Thursday (18.01.24) night but is now said to be feeling “much better”.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: “His condition has greatly improved and he’s now resting at home.
“Clearly he’s feeling much better as Bobby described his proximity to the hospital and the excellent care he received there as ‘a real stroke of luck.'”
Due to the stroke, Bobby was forced to cancel all of his upcoming performances whilst he recovers.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Bobby was taken unwell during a gig last week in Surrey. Everyone in the crowd were hugely concerned about him. Bobby has now cancelled his upcoming gigs and is taking some time out. He has been struggling since the loss of his fiancee Vicky last year but threw himself into work to try and keep his mind off it.”
The ‘Copycats’ star had been in a relationship with Vicky Wright, 63, for 12 years, and was due to marry her but, she passed away last year after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Taking to X (formally Twitter) shortly after her passing, Bobby wrote: “It’s been just over a week since my beautiful @vickywright5459 left this world and its only now I feel strong enough to share my feelings.
“I want to thank everyone for their support and expressions of love and kindness you have shown me and Vicky’s family and loved ones …
“To think we will never hear her voice to hear laughter look into her beautiful eyes see her smile to hold her and to kiss her is devastating and so incredibly painful. (sic)”

The 33-year-old dancer – who is best known for appearing as a professional on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ – tied the knot with Benjamin Jones in 2023 but spent their honeymoon worrying about a lump in her breast, which turned out to be cancerous.
Now, Amy is due to holiday in Grenada, which will be broadcast on ‘Lorraine’.
Speaking with the Daily Express newspaper, she said: “It’s the first time I have gone away. And with the blood clots and wearing a bikini for the first time and everything. But these are all steps that I need to take.
“Just before I went on my honeymoon last year with my husband, I found a lump on my breast and it just overshadowed the whole honeymoon.
“I didn’t want to tell Ben as I didn’t want to worry him, but everyday when I was putting suntan lotion on or I was moisturising, I could feel it and I was just worrying more and more.
“Unfortunately now when I think of that honeymoon, I think of the start of my breast cancer journey. I just knew the entire holiday. I just had this gut feeling. I just knew.
“Honestly, there were moments when I was just thinking, ‘Is this going to be my last holiday ever?’
“So I am grateful to be going away again.”
The TV star had her last round of chemotherapy 11 weeks ago, and has seen her eyebrows and lashes grow back.
However, Amy has emphasised that her cancer journey isn’t over yet.

He told the Daily Star’s Hot TV column: “I loved it. It was my dream job. It was ABBA, dancing, musicals, going to Greece. I hope there is another series!”
The former ‘Chatty Man’ star – who appeared on the panel of the musical competition series alongside show producer Judy Craymer, pop singer Jessie Ware, ‘Glee’ actress Amber Riley and West End star Samantha Barks – also hosts ‘Amanda And Alan’s Italian Job’ with ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ judge Amanda Holden and joked that he intentionally takes on all these jobs so he can go on holiday.

‘Mamma Mia! I Have A Dream’ was won by Stevie Doc and Tobias Turley, who will take over their respective roles of Sophie and Sky in the West End show – which has been running since 1999 and was adapted into a film in 2008 starring Meryl Streep and Amanda Seyfried – at the Novello Theatre in London from January 29.
The format followed a string of musical theatre talent shows that were on screen in the late 2000s, including the BBC’s ‘How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?’ in which the public voted Connie Fisher to star as Maria von Trapp in ‘The Sound of Music’.
This was followed by ‘Any Dream Will Do’, which saw ‘Casualty’ actor Lee Mead win the title role of Joseph in ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ and in 2008, ‘Coronation Street’ actress Jodie Prenger beat Alan’s co-star Samantha to the role of Nancy in ‘Oliver!’ through ‘I’d Do Anything’.

Tommy Walsh, 67, reveals he’s facing lung cancer battle

OHMYGOSSIP — Tommy Walsh is facing his third cancer battle.
The TV builder, 67, has told how he needed urgent treatment after a three-centimetre tumour was detected in his lung on a CT scan after he complained of a chest infection.
Tommy revealed his health fight during a talk at a conference held by Swallows, a head and neck cancer charity in November, where he told the audience to “keep their fingers crossed” for him, Mail Online revealed.
Tommy, who has battled throat cancer in the past, said on a video of the talk posted on YouTube about his lung cancer fight: “I have an emergency appointment at 9am tomorrow morning back in London.
“I had a chest infection, had to go to the doctor and they sent me up to hospital for a CT scan and they think there’s a three-centimetre tumour in the lung.
“I’ve tried to keep cheerful and you’ve cheered me up today, and thank you for letting me reminisce and talk.
“I was weighing up whether or not to tell you about this but I felt it would be unfair if I was to leave this and I didn’t tell you.
“That’s why I’m going to have to leave after this talk and I won’t be able to join you for a few beers tonight.
“But I hope and I would be really pleased if you would have a few on my behalf and I’ll keep my fingers crossed, and if you wouldn’t mind, keep your fingers crossed for me.”
Tommy’s admission was revealed after it was announced last week the BBC star was removed from ‘Homes Under the Hammer’ and replaced by weatherman and Radio 2 host Owain Wyn Evans, 39, as part of a change in the show.
At the time of writing, Tommy has yet to make the results of his emergency cancer appointment public.
The dad-of-three has been married to wife Marie for more than 30 years and in 2022 had a cancerous lump removed from his throat.
Two decades earlier, he had a breast cancer scare after finding two lumps on his chest.

Jeremy Clarkson had secret surgery to remove cyst from his back

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy Clarkson has gone under the knife to have a cyst removed from his back.
The ‘Clarkson’s Farm’ presenter, 63, had the secret surgery in October last year and he revealed he had the operation moved forward by a week so he could escape a “miserable” spa break with his girlfriend Lisa Hogan because being in hospital would be “more fun”.
He told The Sun newspaper, Clarkson explained: “I had a 5cm cyst, which is now not a cyst any more. Lisa took me to a health farm and, well, it was so miserable there that I thought, ‘I’ve got to have this cyst taken out at some point, I may as well go now’.
“So I checked out of the whole place and checked into hospital, because it was more fun having an operation than eating juniper berries all day long. As I lay under the surgeon’s knife, I thought ‘this is preferable’.”
Clarkson went on to reveal the cyst was not cancerous, but he lost around a stone in weight due to the health scare. He added: “I did actually lose a stone though – mind you, half of that was probably the cyst. But it wasn’t cancer. It was never going to be cancerous though – I wasn’t in the mood.”
He went on to reveal he has given up booze for Dry January, but he insisted he doesn’t feel any healthier despite curbing his alcohol intake.
Clarkson added: “I’m knackered all the time and the worst thing is I just cannot sleep. And then when I do nod off, I have ridiculous nightmares.”
In a previous column for The Sunday Times newspaper, Clarkson wrote about his stay at the health spa and detailed how much he hated the experience.
He explained: “I was given a glass of something called wheatgrass. Now, I’ve eaten grasshoppers and tarantulas, and I once had a seven-day egg, which had a bit of beak and an eye in it. All of those things were pretty awful.
“But nothing – nothing – gets close to the gut-retching dreadfulness of wheatgrass … It was all lost on me. I’d rather spend a week with Greta Thunberg at a kumbaya festival.”

Coronation Street legend Bill Roache faces bankruptcy for the second time

OHMYGOSSIP — Bill Roache is facing bankruptcy for a second time.
The 91-year-old actor – who has played Ken Barlow on ‘Coronation Street’ since 1960 – is the soap’s highest-paid cast member, earning around £250,000 a year but he’s facing financial ruin after HMRC filed a petition against him in London’s High Court earlier this week.
A spokesperson said they wouldn’t comment on individual cases, but told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “We take a supportive approach to dealing with customers who have tax debts, and do everything we can to help those who engage with us to get out of debt, such as offering instalment plans.”
HMRC explained a bankruptcy petition would be a “last resort”.
A spokesperson said: “When we file a petition for bankruptcy that is us applying to the court in order to allow us to obtain a bankruptcy order. We only petition for bankruptcy as a last resort.
“We might have an outstanding tax debt, if someone refused to engage with us and pay the tax that is due, then as a last resort we will issue a bankruptcy action and issuing petition for bankruptcy is obviously how we go about that in terms of the correct legal process. That is in order to recover the tax that they owe but as I say, it is the sort of thing we do as a last resort.”
It is unclear about the details of the debt but in 2018, it was revealed the veteran actor faced a huge bill after being one of 288 investors to join a £500 million scheme in the Cayman Islands, putting an undisclosed amount of money into Twofold First Services LLP.
The scheme involved claiming tax relief from the losses of a land-owning business, with a complex arrangement meaning the loss could be used to reduce income tax, but a tribunal later ruled in favour of HMRC, who had argued it was “a tax avoidance arrangement”.
Bill previously faced financial difficulties 24 years ago after suing a newspaper for calling him “boring”. He was awarded £50,000 in damages – the same amount he had turned down in an out-of-court settlement – but was left liable for £120,000 in costs and he went on to sue his legal team for negligence before being declared bankrupt in 1999.
Bill was declared bankrupt 24 years ago after he successfully sued a newspaper for describing him as “boring”. He was awarded £50,000 in damages but it was the same amount he had turned down in an out-of-court settlement before the case, leaving him liable for £120,000 in costs.
A ‘Coronation Street’ representative said: “We’re really sorry to hear of Bill’s financial situation. Bill has an ongoing contract with ‘Coronation Street’ and remains a much-loved member of the cast.”

Colman Domingo working on Nat King Cole biopic

OHMYGOSSIP — Colman Domingo is to play Nat King Cole in a new biopic.
The Oscar-nominated actor is going to direct and star in the movie musical based on the life of the legendary crooner after co-writing the script – and he’s revealed he’s been working on the project for many years but is now looking forward to bringing it to the big screen.
In an episode of the Variety Awards Circuit Podcast, he said of the film: “I’ve been working on it quietly for a few years. It’s something I’m looking forward to putting together with some great partners.”
Colman didn’t give away any more details about the biopic, but he’s believed to be planning to star as Cole – who died in 1965 at the age of 45 – and make his directing debut behind the camera.
He previously brought Nat King Cole’s story to the stage by co-writing the play ‘Lights Out: Nat ‘King’ Cole’ . The production premiered at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles in 2019 with ‘The West Wing’ star Dule Hill playing Cole and told the story of the singer’s 1957 Christmas TV special of ‘The Nat King Cole Show’.
Colman previously hinted at plans to play an American music icon in an interview with Collider last year but refused to give away any of the details. He told the outlet: “I can’t say it just yet, but I’m going to make my directorial debut for a feature film, playing an American icon.
“I co-wrote the script, and it’s a movie musical. I don’t know if I’m gonna lose my mind or what because I’m like, ‘Okay, I’m going from my first leading role in a feature film to now slash, slash, slash, slash doing everything in the world’.”
It’s already a busy year for Colman, who was nominated for a Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal of civil rights leader Bayard Rustin in ‘Rustin’.
He’s also set to play Michael Jackson’s father Joe Jackson in Antoine Fuqua’s upcoming biopic of the late pop superstar while his film schedule also includes roles in Ethan Coen’s ‘Drive-Away Dolls’ and Greg Kewdar’s ‘Sing Sing’.

Austin Butler ‘had to choose’ between Top Gun: Maverick or Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

OHMYGOSSIP — Austin Butler “had to choose” between ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ and ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’.
The 32-year-old actor confirmed he had been in the running for the Tom Cruise-starring aviation sequel but was unable to test for the part because it clashed with the Quentin Tarantino movie.
During a conversation with Josh Horowitz for his ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast at The 92nd Street Y in New York, Austin said: “I ended up having to choose between going to the screen test for Top Gun: Maverick or saying yes to Quentin Tarantino.”
Ultimately, because he had wanted to work with 60-year-old Tarantino “for so long”, he opted to go for the ‘Pulp Fiction’ director’s movie.
He added: “I’d already met with him, so I did that.”
Austin – who played Charles Watson, a member of Charles Manson’s cult, in the movie – previously admitted it had “always” been a “dream” of his to work with the ‘Kill Bill’ filmmaker, and he had a particularly memorable moment one day on set.
He said on ‘Hot Ones’: “The first time that I heard this—it was just so cool, because I mean, I’ve talked a lot about how much Quentin meant to me, and it was just always my dream to work with him. But he, we’re on set and he says, ‘Okay we got it, but we’re gonna do one more. You know why?’ And the entire crew screams, ‘Because we love making movies!’
“And the first time you’re there… you’re not in on it. And so, Brad [Pitt] and Leo [DiCaprio], everybody is like, ‘Because we love making movies!’
“There are sets that are so sterile. There are sets where there is no joy. There are sets where people are like, just at a job.
“And you’re trying to create something that you’re gonna give to the world, you know? And with Quentin, that was so cool, because it just changes the atoms in the room. And then you’re in on it! And so every new crew member, or actor, whoever, then suddenly they’re part of the tribe at that point, saying ‘We love making movies.’ ”
‘Top Gun: Maverick’s casting director, Denise Chamian, previously told Variety that Austin had been up for the role of Rooster, which ultimately wet to Miles Teller.

“Everyone is very excited about this hot new pairing.”
Ellie had previously been romantically linked to 31-year-old Vito during the latest ‘Strictly’ series, but the pair are just good friends.
In November, Vito told how he had bonded with Ellie’s family over his love of her mum’s gravy.

Adam Sandler’s animation Leo to get sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Adam Sandler’s animated musical comedy ‘Leo’ is getting a sequel.
Netflix’s co-CEO Ted Sarandos has confirmed they are “firing on all cylinders” to make a follow-up to the hit 2023 flick.
The positively reviewed movie tells the story of a tuatara longing for the wild and worried about dying who is taken home by different students per the assignment of a strict substitute teacher, but gets himself caught up in the troubles of each student, and offers great advice to each of them.
Speaking to The Wrap, Sarandos said: “We’re kicking around Leo 2 right now. The animation team is firing on all cylinders.”
On why it pulled in the viewers, he continued: “Look, I think Leo resonated for the same reason The Sea Beast did last year. People love it. And they do watch it over and over again, which drives engagement and attachment.
“Leo and The Sea Beast are proof points that we can create original IP in the animated space. I’m super thrilled with Leo.”
‘Leo’ marked the second animated feature from Sandler’s production company Happy Madison Productions, more than two decades after the first, 2002’s ‘Eight Crazy Nights’.
As well as Sandler in the titular role, the voice cast boasts Bill Burr, Cecily Strong, Jason Alexander, Sadie Sandler, Sunny Sandler, Rob Schneider, Jo Koy, Allison Strong, Jackie Sandler, Heidi Gardner, Robert Smigel, and Nick Swardson.

‘A giant and forever thanks to the cast and crew!’ Ryan Reynolds in tears as Deadpool 3 wraps

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Reynolds was in tears as ‘Deadpool 3’ wrapped filming this week.
The 47-year-old actor took to Instagram to share a snap of his blood, sweat and tears-soaked suit he wears in the movie in his role as Wade Wilson/ Deadpool, and he paid tribute to the cast of the film for battling “wind, rain, and strikes” while shooting the motion picture, while poking fun at co-star Hugh Jackman.
Reynolds wrote in the caption: “The suit hides blood. Also sweat… But today, with Deadpool wrapping, it’s mostly tears.
“A giant and forever thanks to the cast and crew of our film who battled wind, rain, strikes and @thehughjackman … all under the stalwart leadership of @slevydirect (sic)”
Reynolds, who co-wrote the film, which is directed by Shawn Levy, feels grateful to have made a motion picture alongside his “closest pals”.
He added: “I got to make a movie with my closest pals and that doesn’t happen very often. See ya July 26th… (sic)”
‘Deadpool 3’ is due to be released on July 26th, and Levy previously told how he did not want to rely on green screens for the film.
He told Total Film magazine: “It bums me out that photos have leaked online. But this is the price we pay for committing to real locations.
“I made a decision very early in prep that even though ‘Deadpool’ is now in the MCU, I didn’t want another Marvel movie shot on a green screen stage with digital set extensions.”
‘Deadpool 3’ sees Reynolds return as the ‘merc with a mouth’ and Jackman is to reprise his role of Wolverine.
It will be the first picture in the series set in the MCU, but Shawn will not be forgetting the franchise’s Fox roots.
The ‘Night at the Museum’ filmmaker explained: “Deadpool and Wolverine are iconic Marvel characters; more specifically, iconic Marvel-of-the-Fox era characters.
“We’re not going to pretend: ‘Oh, we snap our fingers, and suddenly that Fox legacy doesn’t exist, and it shaped a lot of what we now know as the MCU.’
“Fox also shaped Ryan’s career, Hugh’s career and my career. So there’s a lot of history there, and there’s a lot of Marvel history at Fox. And certainly that’s a part of our storytelling.”
Production on ‘Deadpool 3’ had previously been put on hold due to the SAG-AFTRA strike in Hollywood last year, like many other movies.

Will Mellor to front Mr Bates vs The Post Office spin-off documentary

OHMYGOSSIP — Will Mellor is making a documentary series based on the Post Office scandal.
The 47-year-old actor played sub-postmaster Lee Castleton in the ITV drama ‘Mr Bates vs the Post Office’ – which told the true story of several sub-postmasters across the UK wrongly accused of theft and fraud because of the faulty Horizon system that was put in place – and is now planning to delve into the stories of the real-life counterparts of the people portrayed in the drama as they seek justice.
Speaking on his ‘Two Pints With Will and Ralf Little’ podcast, the ‘Coronation Street’ star said: “I’m making a documentary about what’s going on because changes are being made.
“Now there’s been about 700 people that have come forward.
“’Mr Bates vs The Post Office’ is making history — we couldn’t have imagined how big it has gone. The victims just wanted to be heard and have a voice, but nobody was listening, and now they have been given that voice, and more people are coming out to talk about it.
“It’s amazing because it shows you what you can do in this country when we come together and say, ‘This is wrong, we need to get justice for these people’.”
‘Mr Bates vs The Post Office’ has proven to be a major success, with the drama averaging 9.8 million viewers an episode, and had a larger viewership than the likes of ‘Downtown Abbey’ and ‘Line Of Duty’s final series
Previously, the show’s writer Gwyneth Hughes admitted that she believed the programme would be a flop, and was warned to not expect a high viewership.
Speaking with Sky News, she said: “We’ve all been blown away by it [the reception].
“On the eve of transmission, our boss sent us all a comforting email warning us that it probably wouldn’t do that well, and probably not many would watch it.
“So we woke up [the] next morning and he literally thought he had misheard the ratings, and it just has got bigger and bigger.
“The whole thing is unbelievable, the story of the postmasters, and what happened to them was completely unbelievable from beginning to end and this is just the latest unbelievable chapter in the unfolding, ongoing story.”

Call the Midwife actress and Only Fools star reveals secret side hustle:’The money is amazing!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Lisa Diveney voices adverts for mouthwash away from her TV career.
The 39-year-old actress is best known for starring as Beth in the ‘Only Fools and Horses’ spin-off ‘The Green Green Grass’ in the late 2000s and has also appeared in BBC period drama ‘Call the Midwife’ but enjoys having the security of regular work providing the voice of the advertisements for the dental hygiene product.
She told Metro newspaper’s SixtySeconds column: “I’ve been quite lucky to do both, but theatre is always much more interesting. I’m a jobbing actor and have never been in a position to turn work down.
“But doing voiceovers changed my life. I’ve been the voice of Corsodyl for years. And I do loads of other stuff. The money is amazing. So it takes the pressure off.”
The actress – who has also starred alongside Helena Bonham Carter in the Enid Blyton biopic ‘Enid’ and has also appeared in a string of West End stage productions – was able to buy properly because of the regular gig and joked that she should have a plaque on her wall honouring her work with Corsodyl as she explained that providing voicovers for television advertisements affords her free “choice” of what roles she takes on in her acting career.
She said: “Honestly, they helped me buy my house! I should have a little Corsodyl plaque on the wall outside.
“It enables me to make choices with what roles I do. With ‘The Homecoming’, I had such a physical reaction when I was auditioning. And then I became obsessed with it while I was filming a supermarket ad in Warsaw. I wanted to do the play so badly.”
