Emily Head joins Emmerdale

OHMYGOSSIP — Emily Head has joined ‘Emmerdale’.
The ‘Inbetweeners’ actress – who played Carli D’Amato in the popular sitcom – will star as “feisty” Rebecca White, the sister of Chrissie White, who is played by Louise Marwood, and the daughter of Lawrence White (John Bowe).
She said: “I am really looking forward to joining the ‘Emmerdale’ cast, and so excited to be the one to put a face to the name Rebecca White.
“I can’t wait to see how the village reacts to her arrival.”
Series producer Iain MacLeod teased fans to expect the new arrival to be “funny” and “flirtatious”, and praised Emily – whose father is actor Anthony Head – as “perfect” for the role.
He said: “The character of Rebecca is a brilliant addition to the village. She’s funny, feisty and flirtatious, she might turn your fella’s head but, importantly, she has a good heart.
“Emily couldn’t be more perfect for this role and we’re delighted to have her aboard – the chemistry between her and our regulars is already electric.”
The 27-year-old star is best known for her role as Carli, which she reprised in ‘The Inbetweeners Movie’ in 2011.
She has also starred in ‘Doc Martin’ in 2007 and appeared in another TV soap, ‘Doctors’ in 2010.
Lawrence is set to try to reunite Rebecca and Chrissie, but fans will have to wait to see exactly why she has turned up in the village.
But Chrissie is expected to be far from pleased about her sibling’s arrival, which will be seen on our screens in October.

Christopher Eccleston regrets quitting Doctor Who

OHMYGOSSIP — Christopher Eccleston regrets quitting ‘Doctor Who’.
The 52-year-old actor portrayed the titular Time Lord for just one series when the show was revived in 2005, and now wishes he had played the character for longer because he would’ve done a better job in a second series.
He said: “It was kind of tragic for me, that I didn’t play him for longer. He’s a beautiful character and I have a great deal of professional pride and had I done a second season, there would have been a marked improvement in my performance.”
As well as being a great part to play, Christopher admits he was learning on the job while he was portraying the Time Lord.
Speaking to radio show Drive on Melbourne’s 774 ABC, he added: “I was learning new skills, in terms of playing light comedy. I was not known for light comedy and, again, production did not allow for that.”
Last year, Christopher admitted he departed the sci-programme because he’d “had enough” of the part and disagreed with show bosses about how the Doctor should be played.
He said: “I’d had enough. I wanted to do it my way, they wanted something else. We were never going to compromise, so it was best to be straight about it and just go.”
‘Doctor Who’ showrunner Steven Moffat was keen for Christopher to reprise his role as the Ninth Doctor in the 50th anniversary special in November 2013, and wrote the part with the star in mind, despite admitting he felt the actor would reject the opportunity to return to the show.
He previously said: “I knew that Chris was almost certainly going to say no. I met him a couple of times and he was absolutely lovely.
“He met with me because he didn’t want to say no through his agent or a phone call or email. He wanted to do it personally. And I three-quarters talked him into it.
“So I started a version of it but I got to a point where I could go no further unless it was going to be him. I went for another meeting with him and he decided no.
“His reasons are his business and he’s a very private man. But it’s reasonable to say he really cares about ‘Doctor Who’.”
As a result of Christopher giving the 50th anniversary a miss, John Hurt’s War Doctor transformed into the Ninth Time Lord during the final scenes in the episode.

Eamonn Holmes looking forward to sleep

OHMYGOSSIP — Eamonn Holmes is looking forward to getting more than three-and-a-half hours sleep a night after quitting Sky News’ ‘Sunrise’.
The 56-year-old TV presenter has called time on his anchoring of the early morning show to focus on other projects, and the ‘This Morning’ co-host is glad he no longer has to wake up at 3.30am for the programme.
He said: “Sleeping is a big part of healing. I really don’t get more than three-and-a-half, four hours sleep a night.”
Speaking on ‘Loose Women’ alongside his wife Ruth Langsford, who anchors the talk show, he then joked: “I’m 36 years of age.”
Ruth admitted she too feels like she has been presenting the early morning show for the last 11 years because she always wakes up when Eamonn’s alarm starts ringing.
She added: “Nobody ever feels sorry for me because I hear the alarm clock, too.”
The star recently underwent a hip operation and joked he was standing tall as he walked through the ‘Loose Women’ audience to take his seat because he had to hunch over after initially going under the knife.
When panellist Coleen Nolan said to Eamonn, “Can I just say how fabulous did you walk down that red carpet?”, he replied: “Did I? Because I’m fully erect.
“That’s true because before the operation I would’ve been told to … shuffle a lot.
“I’m all right. I’m worse than I led on. I’m brave because of my wife. She doesn’t do suffering.
“She said she would be my nurse and she would look after me in sickness and in health. Forget that.”
The star also admitted he would love to have a cook to rustle him up some meals at home if he had more cash.
He said: “If I had the money, I would have a helicopter, I would have a cook.
“I would have a cook from the point of view that you could ring a bell and have a hamburger or a club sandwich.”

Billy Crudup cast in The Flash

OHMYGOSSIP — Billy Crudup has been cast in ‘The Flash’.
The 48-year-old actor will be starring in the movie as Henry Allen, the father of the titular superhero character, who by day is known as Barry Allen.
The superhero himself will be played by Ezra Miller, 23, who debuted in the role briefly in ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’, and will play a more substantial role in next year’s ensemble movie ‘Justice League’.
Speaking about the stand-alone movie, Ezra said: “I think there’s just an intention to make something extremely fun and something superhuman and something deeply human.”
If the movie decides to run with the story produced in the comic books, Billy’s character will work as a doctor and provides much needed support to his son.
It won’t be the first time Billy and Ezra have shared a screen together either, as they both featured in 2015’s ‘The Stanford Prison Experiment’.
For Billy, ‘The Flash’ will mark the second superhero movie he has been a part of, as he also stars as Dr. Manhattan in the Warner Bros. film ‘Watchmen’.
Plot details for the movie are being kept under wraps, but production is expected to start later this year and the finished product has been given a March 2018 release date.
Rick Famuyiwa is in the director’s chair, with Seth Grahame-Smith having penned the movie.
Before ‘The Flash’ is completed, Billy can be seen in upcoming projects ’20th Century Woman’ and ‘Alien: Covenant’.

Nicole Kidman's powerful movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicole Kidman wanted to appear in ‘Lion’ because it is so “powerful and true”.
The 49-year-old actress – who has adopted children Isabella, 23, and Connor, 21, with ex-husband Tom Cruise, as well as biological daughters Sunday, seven, and Faith, four, with spouse Keith Urban – plays the adoptive mother of Saroo Brierley (Dev Patel), who was separated from his Indian family, in the real-life tale.
Though her own experiences meant she could relate to her character, she thinks it is a story that can be enjoyed by all.
She said: “Obviously I have adopted children. It takes a village to raise children.
“The power of good love, there’s nothing like it, and where it comes from and how you get it. But the nurturing quality of good love is extraordinary.
“The power of somebody wanting to find home, I think, is just a wonderful, cinematic story.”
Nicole was joined at the movie’s world premiere in Toronto by co-stars Dev and Rooney Mara.
And Rooney was thrilled to be a part of the movie, particularly alongside Dev as she enjoyed seeing the “transformation” he went through while making the movie.
She told the Daily Mail Australia: “He went through such a transformation during this whole process. It was really cool to get to watch that.
“It was such a beautiful story. I couldn’t believe it was a true story when I read it. I just wanted to be a part of it.
“It’s such an uplifting film about the human spirit and about love and I just wanted to be part of something like that.”
‘Lion’ will premiere in America in November and in Australia in January 2017.

Danny Dyer's wedding wasp

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Dyer had to start his wedding vows again after being interrupted by a wasp.
The 39-year-old actor’s emotional words were rudely broken up by the pesky insect while he was preparing to marry his childhood sweetheart Jo Mas in Hampshire, southern England, last weekend, but he soon put paid to the black and yellow creature by swatting it away.
He asked the registrar: “Sorry, can I start again?”
During the ceremony, Danny reacted when the congregation began chuckling as the registrar stated his full name, Daniel John Dyer.
He said: “All right, all right.”
The ‘EastEnders’ actor – who plays pub landlord Mick Carter in the soap – also put on a mock threat towards his guests when the statement “if anyone knows of any lawful cause why this couple cannot be wed or lawfully be joined together in matrimony, let them speak now” was read out.
Several of Danny’s Albert Square co-stars attended the ceremony, including his pregnant on-screen wife Kellie Bright, who plays Linda Carter.
The TV actor proposed to Jo at Kellie’s wedding to husband Paul Stocker two years ago and the actress admitted it was “lovely” to be able to see the couple tie the knot.
She told HELLO! magazine: “I wasn’t party to that. But this certainly takes me back to our wedding.
“Danny is one of my best friends and Jo has become a very close friend too.
“They were at our wedding and it is lovely to be able to be at theirs.”
Several other of Danny’s ‘EastEnders’ co-stars were in attendance at the nuptials, including his on-screen mum Linda Henry (Shirley Carter) and on-screen kids, Danny-Boy Hatchard (Lee Carter), Maddy Hill (Nancy Carter) and Ted Reilly (Johnny Carter).
Danny-Boy, who was an usher at the nuptials, added: “I’m very close to Danny. He is like a father figure to me and it’s been an honour to be so involved in his big day.”

Still Open All Hours to return for third series

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Still Open All Hours’ is to return for a third series.
The BBC have announced the comedy spin-off – which began in 2014 – will hit screens again with a Christmas special and Sir David Jason, who plays Granville, can’t wait to start filming again in the next few weeks.
He said: “I can’t wait for viewers to see the scrapes Granville gets into this series, almost as much as I can’t wait to start filming them. Roy Clarke has once again written seven fantastically warm, funny and inventive scripts, full of the humour and eccentric characters that the nation has come to love over the years.”
The new series will see the likes of Maggie Ollerenshaw as Mavis, Johnny Vegas as Eric Kulvinder Ghir as Cyril, Brigit Forsyth as Madge, Nina Wadia as Mrs Hussein and Geoffrey Whitehead as Mr Newbold all return, but Lynda Baron – who first played Nurse Gladys Emmanuel in the original 1970s series ‘Open All Hours’ – is unable to return due to her commitments with ‘EastEnders’.
She said: “I was thrilled by the huge success of ‘Still Open All Hours’ and was very happy to be a part of it. However this year it just isn’t possible to fit it in with my schedule. I am disappointed not least because it is beyond doubt the nicest cast and crew a girl could wish for. There are as many laughs off the set as there are on. Long may they stay ‘Open All Hours’.”
The Christmas special will see Granvile and Gastric (Tim Healy) play marriage counsellors, while Leroy (James Baxter) is also having a different kind of relationship trouble.
Mrs. Featherstone (Stephanie Cole) struggles to get into the Christmas spirit despite attempts by Kath (Sally Lindsay) to rally the street together for a carol singing contest, and executive producer Gareth Edwards has promised the episode will be the most “festive” yet.
He said: “I continue to be bowled over by the incredible audience response to ‘Still Open All Hours’, so it’s a real pleasure to welcome the series back to BBC One. The opening Christmas special is our most festive yet, and the wonderful mind of Roy Clarke has conjured up many more eccentric, classic adventures for Granville and the gang over the series.”
Chris Sussman, Head of Comedy, BBC Studios, added: “It’s brilliant for BBC Studios to keep on working with comedy legends Sir David Jason and Roy Clarke. Long may it last!”

Brooks twins want parents to come to X Factor

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘X Factor’ hopefuls Josh and Kyle Brooks insist they have a “strong connection” with their parents.
The 17-year-old twins have been raised by their grandmother since they were 18-months-old because their mother Samantha and father Daniel Gibbs are heroin addicts, but they are still close to them and would love them come down to the show and see them perform, if they progress further in the competition.
Kyle said: “It’s not as if I’d call up my mum and say, ‘Mum, I need advice’. It would be Nan. But we speak regularly.”
Josh added to The Sun newspaper: “We have a strong connection – we’d love them to come to the studios. We keep in contact and love them dearly.
“They’re very supportive of everything we do. They come to shows and listen to our music.”
The pair are very close to Samantha’s mother Colette, who is their legal guardian and their “rock”.
Kyle said: “Our parents were unable to look after us. Our Nan is the rock in our lives. We speak to our parents regularly, but don’t have much of a relationship.
“Nan has always been a mum to us.”
The teenage hopefuls made it through to judges’ house on ‘The X Factor’ in 2014, before failing to make Louis Walsh’s shortlist, and though bosses were aware of their background, they didn’t want to seem like they were using a sob story to find favour with the audience.
Josh said: “It became clear then why we don’t live with our parents. We didn’t want to come across like we’re without parents – it’s just always been Nan.”
Auditions broadcast over the weekend showed the twins got four yeses and have sailed through to the bootcamp stage of the show.

Alison King to join circus

OHMYGOSSIP —
Alison King is planning to join the circus after failing to land a new role since ‘Coronation Street’.
The 43-year-old star has been out of work since leaving her part as Carla Connor on the soap in May this year, and with no other shows or movies on the horizon she has set her sights on a career change.
She said: “I’ve got no new acting projects in the pipeline. I may actually leave acting behind and join the circus.”
Alison admitted she has set her sights on trying to break into a production similar to Cirque Du Soleil’s Amaluna.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, she added: “I’ll maybe have a go tonight and see how it pans out.”
The ‘Dream Team’ star recently admitted ‘Corrie’ destroyed her feet because she always had to wear high heels on the cobbles.
She said: “My advice to myself if I was starting ‘Corrie’ again? Hit the ground running and wear flat shoes.
“Seriously, I’d wear flats, the high heels and cobbles have knackered my feet, I’d give the killer black heels a miss.”
What’s more, appearing on the soap for 10 years shattered her vocal cords.
She said: “I wouldn’t put on a gravelly voice either, that’s been tough, it’s not my real voice.”
Alison isn’t the only former ‘Corrie’ star planning to try something new since departing Weatherfield.
In May, Ryan Thomas – who played Jason Grimshaw for 16 years – admitted he was planning to start acting lessons because he only knows how to play the builder-turned-businessman.
He said: “I want to be creative and maybe go back to drama school to learn again because I’ve only ever known how to be one character. So it’s about a new challenge, whatever it might be.”

Danny Dyer's brother missed wedding

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Dyer’s brother missed his wedding because his wife was giving birth.
The ‘EastEnders’ actor had to enlist his younger sister Kayleigh, who is also pregnant, to take over as his ring bearer at the last minute for his wedding to childhood sweetheart Jo Mas after brother Tony, who was due to be best man, had to dash off to be at the birth of his child.
Danny said: “My sister, she’s my best girl and I loved her with all my heart.
“She stepped in at the last moment, which is great because she is five months pregnant too. She’s a special girl.”
The 39-year-old actor – who plays pub landlord Mick Carter in the soap – watched on as his three kids Dani, 19, Sunnie, nine, and two-year-old Arty, walked down the aisle ahead of their mum during the ceremony in Hampshire, southern England.
Several of the Danny’s ‘EastEnders’ co-stars were in attendance at the nuptials, including his on-screen mum Linda Henry (Shirley Carter), on-screen wife Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) and on-screen kids, Danny-Boy Hatchard (Lee Carter), Maddy Hill (Nancy Carter) and Ted Reilly (Johnny Carter).
At the wedding, Danny praised his new wife as the “love of my life”.
He said: “I could not have hoped for a more beautiful day. To be standing here with the girl I grew up with – looking so beautiful here in her wedding dress – that is a lovely thing.
“Jo is my best girl – the love of my life.”
Jo added to HELLO! magazine: “I just want to do it all over again.”
Guests at the wedding enjoyed a feast including corn-fed chicken and Serrano ham with roast potatoes and carrots as well as a dessert of egg custard tart and blackberry and apple puree.
Several tapas selections were also on the menu, such as plums wrapped in ham with chorizo, and anchovies.

Kimberly Wyatt to join Dance Dance Dance

OHMYGOSSIP — Kimberly Wyatt is set to join Ashley Banjo on ‘Dance Dance Dance’.
The former Pussycats Dolls singer – who worked with the star on Sky 1’s ‘Got to Dance’ from 2009 to 2014 – has teased she and the 27-year-old street performer could reunite on his latest talent show.
The 34-year-old beauty told The Sun newspaper: “I think I could be joining Ashley – watch this space.
“I started with Ashley on ‘Got To Dance’ – he’s a great guy, we spent five years together judging and mentoring kids and he’s got a lot to offer on ‘Dance Dance Dance’.
“He cares a lot and he’s got a really big heart.
“He also loves to crack a joke so I’m sure he will be very entertaining as well as very helpful to those dancers.”
‘Dance Dance Dance’ is to launch early next year, and bosses hope Ashley’s talent and expertise will bring in a younger audience.
A source previously said: “Ashley will make a fantastic judge because he knows dancing and is also cool.
“The show’s reputation has suffered from people constantly comparing it to ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and producers want to distance themselves from that.
“Ashley will bring a new young audience in – mainly the millions that have seen him on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’.”
Bosses of the show – which has had millions spent on it – are on the hunt for another two judges.
The programme will see celebrities team up with their partner, a friend or a relative as they perform an iconic dance.
Ashley certainly has experience when it comes to judging on a talent show as he previously sat on the panel alongside Kimberly, Adam Garcia and Aston Merrygold on ‘Got to Dance’.
The star shot to fame in 2009 when he auditioned and won ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ with his dance troupe Diversity and went on to perform for Queen Elizabeth at the Royal Variety Show in December 2009.

Tom Hanks for Greyhound

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Hanks is set to star in ‘Greyhound’.
The 60-year-old actor has written the script for the upcoming World War II movie and is said to be keen to appear in the motion picture, which will be directed by Aaron Schneider.
According to Deadline, Gary Goetzman will produce the project, which tells the story of a career officer who is given control of a Navy destroyer called Greyhound.
Not only does the character have to deal with his enemies, he also has a battle against his own personal self-doubt.
FilmNation are in discussions with Playtone Pictures about financing the movie, which has a budget of around $35 million.
Should Hanks land the main part it will not be the first time he has been in charge of a ship in a film.
In 2013 thriller ‘Captain Phillips’, the Hollywood star portrayed Richard Phillips, who was captain of the unarmed container vessel the MV Maersk Alabama.
The movie told the true story of Phillips’ ship being hijacked by Somali pirates in 2009, the first cargo ship to have been taken over in such a way in 200 years.
Hanks starred alongside David Warshofsky, Catherine Keener and Barkhad Abdi, who appeared as pirate leader Abduwali Muse.
In his latest movie, Clint Eastwood’s ‘Sully’, he is also in charge of a vehicle as airline captain Chesley Sullenberger.
The film tells the real story of the titular pilot who managed to glide his plane along the Hudson River, saving all of the 155 crew and passengers on board.

Dwayne Johnson's schedule holds up GI Joe 3

OHMYGOSSIP — Dwayne Johnson’s busy schedule is holding up the production for ‘G.I. Joe 3′.
The 44-year-old actor is set to reprise his role as Marvin F. Hinton/ Roadblock in the upcoming movie, but Byung-hun Lee, who is to appear as Tommy Arashikage/ Storm Shadow again, revealed the wrestling legend’s other work commitments are delaying the start of filming.
He said: “I heard from the studio that there’s a possibility to do the third one, but I think they’re waiting for the actors’ schedules.
“They’re arranging the schedules for the actors, especially Dwayne Johnson.”
Lee admitted he often talks to Ray Park – who played Storm Shadow’s enemy Snake Eyes in the first two movies in the series, 2009’s ‘G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra’ and 2013’s ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ – about returning for a third film in the franchise.
He added to LRM: “Him and I always talk about those kinds of ideas and some other projects and what if we do some things. We always talk, but it’s just talk.”
‘G.I. Joe 3’ is expected to focus on Johnson’s character Roadblock, but details about the possibility of a third movie are yet to be revealed.
Johnson appeared in action comedy movie ‘Central Intelligence’ in June alongside Kevin Hart.
The pair starred as two former school friends who teamed up to save the world from a terrorist.
What’s more, Johnson is to reprise his role as Luke Hobbs in ‘Fast 8’, the eighth movie in the ‘Fast and the Furious’ franchise, next year.
And also in 2017, he will appear as Mitch Buchannon in a film version of popular 1990s TV series ‘Baywatch’, in which David Hasselhoff initially starred as the main character.

Sandra Oh: I'm not coming back to Grey's Anatomy

OHMYGOSSIP — Sandra Oh has “no plans” to return to Grey’s Anatomy.
The 45-year-old actress sparked rumours earlier this year that she would be reprising her role as Dr. Cristina Yang on the ABC medical drama but she has now confirmed that she won’t be returning any time soon.
She told ET Canada: “I’ve gotta tell you those rumours, I don’t know who starts them but it really is tough. No, I have no plans to return to ‘Grey’s anytime soon.”
Sandra revealed that she would be leaving the television series in 2013 and made her final appearance on the show in the series 10 finale, which aired in 2014, when her character moved to Zurich in order to work in a hospital there.
Speaking about her role, Sandra said: “Grey’s Anatomy, it changed all of our lives. And it was an extremely stressful time. And in those times, it’s very difficult to see what’s happening in the present moment. It’s only 10 years later when I get to say, ‘Oh, I remember the first year was so magical in a way.’ …
“And then there was another section for the next few years, and now I feel like the past two years have been a section of time where it was like the end of work and the decision to leave. It’s like leaving a relationship in a really healthy way. It’s like, ‘OK, I’m not growing in this relationship anymore. I love you, I know you love me, and I have to move on.'”

Charlie Webster's 'conversation with Death'

OHMYGOSSIP — Charlie Webster had a “conversation with Death” after she was struck down with malaria.
The 33-year-old star was left fighting for her life after contracting the deadly disease whilst travelling to the Olympic Games and admits the encounter with Death left her feeling “traumatised”.
She said: “I went into shock. Words can’t describe the pain I was in. This is what is traumatising me a little bit – I remember having a conversation with Death and whether I was going to live or not. I just saw myself and we were in this black space and we weren’t people, we were just an energy. Death said to me, ‘Come on, you’ve got to go’.
“I actually said yes to start with – like I’m happy to die because I just couldn’t do it any more. There’s no words to describe how much pain I was in. I feel awful as I wanted to die and remember being happy with what I’ve done with my life.”
However, the sports presenter remembers suddenly telling herself it wasn’t her time and she fought on bravely.
She told The Sun newspaper: “Oh God it’s awful, it makes me upset. But within a second of saying that I thought, ‘No.’ And I remember shouting, ‘No, no. no.’ The last thing I thought was that I haven’t made a will, I need to make sure my money goes to my family.
“I also remember a promise I made to my mum that I wouldn’t leave her, weirdly enough, before I set out on the cycle ride. She had a feeling that something was going to go wrong before the race.
“So I said, ‘I’ve only come so far in the mission of what I want to complete in my life. I’ve got to do this. I’m not dying. No chance’. Then I was kind of back. It was so real. You know when you have dreams, but I remember this so clearly.”
