Duncan James was almost dropped from Hollyoaks

OHMYGOSSIP — Duncan James was almost dropped from ‘Hollyoaks’.
The 38-year-old singer has just signed a two-year contract with the popular Channel 4 soap after his character Ryan Knight proved a huge hit with viewers last month, but he has admitted his dreams of landing a role in the programme were almost scuppered earlier this year.
He explained to OK! magazine: “When my back went and I was laid up in hospital and the money stopped, it was like, ‘Oh my God, what now?’ I’d just got the job with ‘Hollyoaks’ and they needed me on set. If I didn’t get back to work in time, I would have lost the contract.”
The Blue singer was forced to undergo emergency surgery on his spine in June after vital fluid began pouring out of an old surgery wound and he lost the feeling in his left leg.
He said: “For the first few weeks on ‘Hollyoaks’ I really struggled. Not only learning lines but just being able to walk was tough. They’ve been so supportive but initially I was hobbling on set with a walking stick, doing a scene and then hobbling back off and laying down waiting for the next one. As the weeks have gone on I’ve become stronger and the stick’s gone now. I’m a lot better than I was a week ago.”
However, Duncan still has a long way to go as he’s yet to undergo physiotherapy, although he has been swimming.
He added: “I’ve started to swim and plan on starting physio. Going from a fit, healthy guy to someone who is debilitated has been hard, but as with everything in life, you get on and accept it. Many people are in worse positions.”

Mark Gatiss cried at Doctor Who Christmas special

OHMYGOSSIP — Doctor Who’s Mark Gatiss was reduced to tears when he read the script for the forthcoming Christmas special.
The 49-year-old screenwriter – who played Professor Lazarus and Gantok in 2007 and 2011 respectively in the sci-fi series – has admitted he’s seen the running order of the festive episode, penned by his friend Steven Moffat, and couldn’t stop the tears streaming down his face.
He explained: “I think the Christmas special… which is the only one this year…I think is one of Steve’s best ever scripts, absolutely beautiful. It made me cry.”
The mastermind behind ‘Sherlock’ has also read the scripts for the first three episodes of the next series, which will hit screens next year, but had to refrain from ingesting anymore as he didn’t want to spoil the whole thing for himself.
Speaking at a Victoria and Albert Museum members’ talk in London last night (12.09.16), he said: “I’ve read three scripts. I’ve seen a little bit. Just because of the new companion and things. But I don’t want to see it, because it spoils it! I am such a fan, I just want to watch it.”
And Mark speaks from experience as he knew all about Peter Capaldi’s debut scenes as the Time Lord in 2013.
He said: “Peter Capaldi’s first season, the second half of that I knew nothing about. And it was such a joy to watch the next time trailer and just be totally surprised.
“So I mean, I have to, to some extent, but I try and see as little as possible, because I don’t wanna spoil it.”

The 46-year-old filmmaker – whose other credits include the ‘Shrek’ series, ‘Monsters vs. Aliens’ – is going to be responsible for bringing the grotesque schlock superhero into the 21st century.
The original film was released by Troma Entertainment – famous for specialising in B-movies – in 1984 and the violent comedy/horror became a cult classic after attracting audiences by running in midnight cinemas in the US.

The blonde bombshell – portrayed by Amy Walsh – is set to marry the man of her dreams David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) this week, but she may not get her happy ever after as her dad Frank Clayton (Michael Praed) snatches her just before the ceremony, bundles her into his car, and drives to the middle of nowhere.
Speaking to Inside Soap magazine, Amy said: “He doesn’t hold a gun to her head or anything, so don’t worry. Frank just wants to prove to Tracy that he’s good enough for her to have in her life.
“But after he’s thrown out of the hen and stag do, they end up having another argument. Frank tells her that he’s leaving because Tracy doesn’t want him around – and when she says that he just needs to show her that he cares, he drags her into his car and speeds off.”
However, Tracy reaches a new level of hate for her dad after she wakes up the next morning to find herself on the back seat of Frank’s pink vehicle in the depths of the woods.
But things turn from bad to worse when she realises that the car has a flat battery and they’ve got no way to get to the church.
She explained: “For quite a long time, all she can see is that he has ruined her wedding day. Sherrie Hewson wants to return to Coronation Street

OHMYGOSSIP — Sherrie Hewson wants to return to ‘Coronation Street’.
The 65-year-old actress is desperate to reprise her role as Maureen Holdsworth – a part she has played on and off since 1993 – in the long-running soap and would love to see her alter ego ruffle some feathers by snatching the Webster’s Autocentre garage from Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell).
Speaking to the Manchester Evening Standard newspaper, she said: “I love Manchester, and Manchester has a love for me because of ‘Coronation Street’.
“I was in it for five years, I think Maureen is still in Germany. But I belong to the Webster family. I’d like to go back as more of a villain. Realistically you see, I own the garage – I was married to Bill Webster (Peter Armitage) who owned the garage – so that realistically is mine, or at least half of it is.
“So I could go back, throw Kevin out of the garage and say, ‘Go! This is mine now’ and no matter how much he begs, I’d say, ‘No, go!’ and everyone on the street would hate me.”
Sherrie first appeared in the ITV programme in 1993 and strutted her stuff on the cobbles until 1997 until her alter ego ran away to Germany with Bill after her marriage with Fred Elliott (John Savident) began to crumble just a week in.
Her and Bill then made a return to Weatherfield in 2006 when he paid a visit to his family and started an affair with Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls), and Maureen returned to Germany.
Meanwhile, Sherrie’s desire to return to ‘Coronation Street’ comes just a few weeks after she quit her panel show ‘Loose Women’ in order to focus on her acting projects.

Mike Hassini pleads guilty to drink-driving but denies assaulting police officer

OHMYGOSSIP — Mike Hassini has pleaded guilty to drink-driving but has denied he attacked a female officer in custody in August.
The ‘Only Way is Essex’ hunk – who is currently suspended from the show following the incident – has admitted he crashed into a Mercedes on Oxford Street, London, in the early hours of August 15 while more than two times over the legal alcohol limit, but has claimed he can’t remember lashing out at the police officer while under arrest that night.
Speaking at the Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London on Monday (12.09.16), Mike’s lawyer Colin Nott said of the alleged attack: “It’s said to have happened when he was asleep in the cell and they roused him and there was a kick, no injury. And as I have said he wasn’t challenged about it at all when interviewed the next day.”
Officers also recorded at the time that they’d found a wrap of cocaine in Mike’s possession before they took him to Charing Cross Police Station after the boozy crash.
However, Mr. Nott has asked the court to throw out the cocaine case as it was only a “very small amount.”
He said of the drug charge: ‘It’s a very very small amount. It wouldn’t be in the public interest to prosecute.”
Prosecutors will review the charge and make their decision before Mike stands trial for assault on December 14.
Although the 21-year-old star has been released on unconditional bail until his trial in three months’ time, Judge Karim Ezzat handed Mike an interim driving ban.
He said: “You have pleaded guilty in relation to one matter, I’m not going to sentence you today. On the face of it it’s going to be a community order in relation to the drink-driving charge. I’m subjecting you to an interim disqualification from driving that starts from this moment.”
Meanwhile, Mike found himself in hot water last month after he ploughed his car into the Mercedes, which was subsequently shunted into a bus, in the West End.
He was arrested and forced to spend the night in a cell after he blew over the national legal limit on the breath test.
It’s not known whether anyone was hurt in the collision.

This Morning to screen live birth

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘This Morning’ will screen a mother giving birth live on air.
The ITV brunch-time show’s co-host Holly Willoughby – who has children Harry, seven, Belle, five, and 22-month-old son Chester with the TV producer Dan Baldwin – has teased the programme will get a “maternity” segment this autumn and will capture a women going into labour on camera.
Speaking about upcoming plans for the show, Holly revealed: “We are doing a whole new maternity section. I am going on to a maternity ward and hopefully someone will let me speak to some women who are in labour to get a vibe of what it is like on a ward.
“There may well be a baby born on ‘This Morning’. I have never watched anyone else in labour.”
Meanwhile, the 35-year-old beauty’s co-host Phillip Schofield has said that he is to swim with sharks for the show, which is something he’s always dreamed of doing.
The 54-year-old television presenter told the Daily Star newspaper: “It will be a bucket list thing for me and one of the things I said I wanted to do was swimming with sharks. There is no backing out now.”
Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time ‘This Morning’ have had a shake up as it has just recruited a new member of the team – a gorgeous puppy named Luna.
Phillip and Holly were left heartbroken in July when they bid farewell to their resident guide dog Clover so she can continue her training as an assistant for the disabled.
But bosses of the programme decided to replace the beloved pup with a white Labradoodle – a Labrador and Poodle mix – and introduced the 11-week-old fluff ball to the viewers of the show last week.
The presenters – who have just returned from their summer holiday – asked viewers if they could come up with a name for their new four-legged friend and, after a few suggestions, finally revealed their chosen name.
Phillip said: “Our puppy is called Luna, that’s because she’s the same colour as the moon…”

Denis Villeneuve wants to remake Dune

OHMYGOSSIP — Denis Villeneuve wants to remake ‘Dune’.
The ‘Sicario’ director has turned his attention to the sci-fi genre and recently premiere his alien landing movie ‘Arrival’ at the Venice Film Festival and he is also helming the ‘Blade Runner’ sequel.
Villeneuve is a fan of David Lynch’s epic 1984 movie, which was adapted from Frank Herbert’s book of the same name, and admits his ambition is to bring the story of the battle for the planet Arrakis back to the big screen, even though securing the rights will be a tough challenge.
Speaking to Variety, he said: “I had been wanting to do sci-fi for a very long time; ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’ is a movie that really impressed me as a teenager and also ‘Blade Runner’. ‘Close Encounters of the Third Kind’ is also one of my favourites.
“I’m always looking for sci-fi material, and it’s difficult to find original and strong material that’s not just about weaponry. A long-standing dream of mine is to adapt ‘Dune’, but it’s a long process to get the rights, and I don’t think I will succeed.”
‘Dune’ received negative reviews upon its release but as the decades have past the film – which starred Kyle MacLachlan, Sir Patrick Stewart, Francesca Annis, Leonardo Cimino and Brad Dourif among others – has become a cult classic of the genre.
Villeneuve, 48, is also working on his own original sci-fi stories but is remaining tight-lipped on the projects at the moment.
He added: “I would love to write something myself. I have two (sci-fi) projects right now that are in very (early) stages. It’s too early to talk about them.”
Villeneuve is currently shooting the ‘Blade Runner’ sequel which sees Harrison Ford return as Rick Deckard and a stellar cast which includes Jared Leto, Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks and Dave Bautista.
Sir Ridley Scott – who helmed the original 1982 movie – is producing and it is scheduled for an October 2017 release.

Great British Bake Off to lose Mary, Paul, Mel and Sue?

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Great British Bake Off’ is in danger of losing Paul Hollywood, Mary Berry, Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc when it moves to Channel 4.
The two judges and pair of presenters have all previously admitted they are keen to remain on the BBC, and production company Love Productions, who have signed a three-year deal to air the baking show on Channel 4 from 2017, will have to try to tempt the quartet to remain on the programme.
A source said: “Everyone is used to Paul, Mary, Mel and Sue being a part of the show.
“Love can’t foresee a show without them, but also they never could imagine leaving the BBC.”
Sue is said to be particularly fond of the BBC and last night (12.09.16) retweeted a statement from the BBC Press Office which pleaded with Love Productions to “change their mind” so that ‘Bake Off’ can stay “add free” on the channel.
The statement read: “Working with Love Productions, we have grown and nurtured the programme over seven series and created the huge hit it is today.
“We made a very strong offer to keep the show but we are a considerable distance apart on the money. The BBC’s resources are not infinite.
“‘GBBO’ is a quintessentially BBC programme. We hope Love Productions change their mind so that Bake Off can stay ad free on BBC One.”
A source added to The Sun newspaper: “Sue is an unashamed fan of the BBC and didn’t want to leave. Her and Mel both wanted it to stay put.
“Sue sharing the BBC’s statement giving itself a pat on the back rather than Love’s looking ahead to the future says it all.”
What’s more, Mary has spoken out about the shock ‘Bake Off’ move from the BBC – where the show first aired and has done for six years – admitting she has “no idea” what will happen next.
She told The Sun Online: “I have no idea, anything that happens is nothing to do with my choice.”
Jay Hunt, Channel 4’s chief creative officer, said last night: “Channel 4 is very proud to be the new home for ‘The Great British Bake Off’. I’m delighted we have been able to partner with the hugely talented team at Love Productions to keep this much loved show on free-to-air television.”
Whilst Richard McKerrow, the creative director of Love Productions, added: “We believe we’ve found the perfect new home for ‘Bake Off’. It’s a public service, free-to-air broadcaster for whom Love Productions have produced high-quality and highly successful programmes for more than a decade.
“It’s tremendously exciting to have found a broadcaster who we know will protect and nurture ‘The Great British Bake Off’ for many years to come.”
This came just hours after Love Productions said in a statement: “After an extraordinary six-year journey with the BBC, Love Productions announces with regret that it has been unable to reach agreement on terms to renew the commission of ‘The Great British Bake Off’.
“We will now be focusing on finding a new partner to develop the familiar show that the British public turn to in their millions.”

Lydia Bright suffers fish hook injury

OHMYGOSSIP — Lydia Bright suffered an “excruciating” fish hook injury on ‘The Island’.
The 26-year-old TV personality was taking part in the special celebrity edition of the survival show in aid of the charitable program ‘Stand Up To Cancer’ when the metal item got stuck in her arm.
Speaking to Digital Spy, the star said: “It went though a joint. When it actually went in, it was painful, don’t get me wrong, but all I was panicking about was that the way that it comes out is you have to re-pierce it out the other way.
“Dr Dawn [Harper] was trying to tug at it to push it through, but it had gone through a joint so it was so tough – she was trying to push for ages. It was excruciating.”
The ‘Only Way Is Essex’ star also admitted the worst part of the show – which sees survivalist Bear Grylls abandon 13 people on a remote, uninhabited island for a whole month – came after her injury when the medication had started to wear off.
She said: “The next day, the pain was hitting in, my arm was all tingly. All the drugs were wearing off and I was just like, ‘I think I’ve got to go home’. That was when I found it really tough, the last little stretch. And I couldn’t really do much afterwards – my finger was bandaged up and it was so painful I couldn’t really lift a lot so I had to stay in camp a lot more.”
Once the wound was healed, however, Lydia decided that instead of forgetting the whole ordeal she wanted to remember it forever, so she got a tattoo of a fish hook on her finger.
She said: “As soon as my scar healed I was in Indonesia and I was like, ‘I’m going to do something really rock and roll and I’m going to go and get a tattoo’. And it’s a really dodgy tattoo! I think where I got it probably wasn’t the best tattoo parlour, but I love it because it’s got a little story and I love it when people look at it.”

Benicio Del Toro in talks for Predator role

OHMYGOSSIP — Benicio Del Toro is in talks to star in the ‘Predator’ reboot.
The 49-year-old actor is thought to be in negotiations for the lead role in the hotly-anticipated remake of the 1987 movie, according to Deadline.
While plot details remain thin on the ground, Shane Black is to direct the motion picture for 20th Century Fox after previously starring in the original.
He played Rick Hawkins, who was the first to die at the hands of the titular character.
Black recently revealed the main character’s name in ‘Predator’ would be Quinn McKenna.
He said: “The hero of the film, the name I’ve given the guy, is Quinn McKenna. Quinn McKenna. Rolls off the tongue, doesn’t it?”
The original movie starred Arnold Schwarzenegger as soldier Major Alan ‘Dutch’ Schaefer, who was hunted by an alien monster in the jungle along with his squad of commandos.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Del Toro has been wanted by the production team for months but there was an issue with his schedule.
However, that now appears to have been resolved and a February start date is being muted.
Joel Silver, John Davis and Lawrence Gordon will produce the movie.
Schwarzenegger starred alongside Carl Weathers and Jesse Ventura in the original film, which was directed by John McTiernan.
It looks set to be a busy few years for Del Toro, who is to portray a villain in ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ in 2017.
Last year, he played Alejandro Gillick in ‘Sicario’ and has recently appeared in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ and 2013’s ‘Thor: The Dark World’ as Taneleer Tivan/ The Collector.

Ollie Locke's poop problems

OHMYGOSSIP — Ollie Locke only pooped twice in two weeks while filming ‘The Island’.
The ‘Made in Chelsea’ star suffered from constipation on the programme – on which a group of celebrities have to fend for themselves while living together on an uninhabited land mass – and admitted when he finally could relieve himself his business resembled powdered dessert treat Angel Delight.
He said: “I barely weed as we had so little water and I pooed twice in two weeks.
“And I’m sorry but I’m going to be detailed here; when I did go, it was the consistency and colour of butterscotch Angel Delight.”
As well as struggling with his bowel movements, Ollie was also attacked by sand flies and found the scratching from their bites to be “biblical”.
Despite barely drinking and being savaged by insects, the group managed to find some food in the shape of a caiman crocodile, which Ollie was tasked with “humanely” slaughtering with a machete.
He said: “We were starving and we knew that there was a caiman crocodile on the island.
“Killing it wasn’t something we wanted to do – it was horrible to take a life – but it was done humanely and gave us the food we needed for three days.
“My friends now call me Ollie Locke Croc Horror.”
The 28-year-old star made up for hardly eating and going without alcohol for two weeks when he got home – but he ate and drank so much he vomited.
When asked how he celebrated his time on the show, he added to OK! magazine: “I went to the Big Easy restaurant in Chelsea with Thom [Evans] – I ate so much and got so drunk that I was so sick!”

BBC loses The Great British Bake Off

OHMYGOSSIP — The BBC has lost the rights to broadcast ‘The Great British Bake Off’.
Love Productions, who make the popular baking show, failed to reach an agreement with the public service broadcaster after over a year of negotiations.
In an email penned to all its staff, Love Productions said: “We are writing to let you all know that, with deep regret, after more than a year of exhaustive negotiations we have been unable to reach an agreement with the BBC for the renewal of The Great British Bake Off. We feel it is very important to let you all know as soon as possible because there has been a lot of inaccurate reporting in the media about the negotiations and we want you to be aware of the main facts.
“We are really saddened by this outcome because we always wanted to stay on the BBC. As recently as June we were convinced that was what would happen. This has never been about who might write the biggest cheque, but about where we can find the best home for Bake Off. Unfortunately we were unable to agree either a fair valuation, and nor were the BBC able to provide the necessary comfort for the future protection of such a distinctive and much-loved television series.”
And ITV is now the favourite to take over the broadcasting of the series, which has been aired on the BBC since 2010, The Telegraph newspaper reports.
In a statement, Love Productions added: “After an extraordinary six-year journey with the BBC, Love Productions announces with regret that it has been unable to reach agreement on terms to renew the commission of The Great British Bake Off. We will now be focusing on finding a new partner to develop the familiar show that the British public turn to in their millions.”
