Chadwick Boseman: Batman v Superman lacked clear direction

OHMYGOSSIP — Chadwick Boseman believes ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ lacked clear direction.
The 39-year-old actor, who starred in the successful Marvel movie ‘Captain America: Civil War’, has given his thoughts on Zack Snyder’s rival DC Comics film which got bad reviews and lower-than-expected box office takings, despite pitting two of the greatest superheroes of all time against each other.
In an interview with RadioTimes.com, Boseman said: “I was there the first night to see ‘Batman v Superman’. I’m not exactly sure what they did wrong. But I feel like sometimes you see a movie – and I could be wrong, or saying this because I’m in the industry – you can see there’s at times [too] many people deciding something.”
He clarified: “There’s not a clear voice from the director. Sometimes when you watch movies you see that the producers are saying something, someone else is saying something, the directors are saying something. And sometimes, it doesn’t work.”
In ‘Captain America: Civil War’, Boseman played Wakanda hero Black Panther, making his Marvel debut and he believes the reason why Marvel Studios movies generally do well is because the directors are left alone to bring their vision to the big screen.
He said: “I don’t know if that’s why it doesn’t resonate, if it’s because maybe the director didn’t get his cut, I have no way of knowing that. I just feel like, what I have experienced at Marvel is that the directors are very much making the movie. So maybe that’s it.”
He is to work with director Ryan Coogler on the solo ‘Black Panther’ film, on which shooting starts in January 2017 ahead of a 2018 release.
After watching Coogler’s last film, ‘Rocky’ sequel ‘Creed’, Boseman is sure that he will bring an element of “grit” to the fantastical film.
He explained: “I think that’s part of what [director] Ryan Coogler is gonna bring to the table. In his prior movie (‘Creed’), I think there was a certain grit to that boxing, a certain realism that he brought to the table, with the choreography and just the way he was looking in terms of the story. Because there’s always storytelling in fighting.
“There’s a mystery and a mystique to him. So all those things to me sort of present a recipe for a darker drama than you might normally see.”

Mark Hamill: Most signed Star Wars memorabilia is fake

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Star Wars’ legend Mark Hamill claims up to 90 per cent of signed memorabilia from the franchise is “fake”.
The 64-year-old actor – who plays Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker in the sci-fi series – is dismayed at the collecting industry that surrounds the movies and insists much of what is advertised as signed items is bogus.
Speaking to BBC One show ‘Rip Off Britain’ – presented by Angela Rippon – he said: “There are more fake autographs than real ones it just breaks your heart [to see fans duped].”
When asked how much of the autographed memorabilia is phoney, he answered: “It’s in the 50 to 90 percentile”.
Hamill has developed a technique so his signed merchandise can be identified as genuine – he personalises each autograph for each fan.
He revealed: “A true fan would love that.”
Hamill also is happy to inspect anything claimed to have been signed by him if fans send him photos on social media of the alleged autographed items.
He explained: “Every day it’s like homework. You have to sit down and go through 30, 40, 50 of these things, and sometimes they’re really close calls. It doesn’t bring me any pleasure to disappoint someone and say, that’s a fake. On the other hand, [forgeries] are just so pervasive – there are more fakes than there are real ones.”
Hamill first portrayed Luke in the original ‘Star Wars’ trilogy – created by George Lucas.
He has reprised the key role in a galaxy far, far away in Disney and Lucasfilm’s new trilogy, although he only made a brief appearance in ‘The Force Awakens’.
He will next be seen as the character in ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ alongside the returned Daisy Ridley (Rey), John Boyega (Finn), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren) and Carrie Fisher (Leia Organa).
Hamill is also expected to be in 2019’s ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’ when it is released in 2019.

Jeremy Clarkson's show gets air date

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy Clarkson’s new TV show will launch on 18 November.
The 56-year-old star – who was sacked from ‘Top Gear’ last year after punching a producer – has been working on ‘The Grand Tour’ with his presenting partners Richard Hammond and James May for the last year, and following extensive speculation, Amazon have now revealed when fans can catch their first glimpse of the programme for the first time.
Jay Marine, Vice President of Amazon Prime Video EU, said: “Customers have been desperate to find out when they can watch their favourite team back on screen, so we are very excited to announce the launch date of one of the most globally anticipated shows of 2016.
“The guys have been having a blast filming the show around the world and we can’t wait for fans to see it weekly from 18th November, only on Amazon Prime Video.”
The trio and production team have been filming the show on location across the globe, with parts of ‘The Grand Tour’ shot in front of an audience inside a giant travelling tent.
They have already filmed with the fans in Johannesburg and later this month, Jeremy, Richard and James, will take the tent to California to shoot parts of the opening episode.
New episodes will be released every Friday on Amazon Prime Video.
It was recently revealed the new show will face legal action for any similarities it bears to ‘Top Gear’.
Andy Wilman, the producer of ‘The Grand Tour’, said: “They got funnier and funnier. We went to Namibia to make a big film. The lawyers got out a film we had done [for ‘Top Gear’] in Botswana. The lawyers go through everything and they said, ‘There’s a scene in [‘Top Gear’] where you’re in the middle of the Okavango and you go, “This scenery is beautiful”, so watch that you don’t do that.’
“So we were in the desert in Namibia and we had to go, ‘for legal reasons, this scenery is sh*t.’ ”
And that’s not the only restriction that has been slapped down as the producers have been forced to come up with a different name for their news section on the programme.
He explained: “We can’t call it ‘the news’.”

Ryan Thomas splits from girlfriend

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Thomas has split from his girlfriend.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ star and marketing consultant Lana Martin have reportedly decided to call it quits after struggling to make the long distance between them work.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Ryan and Lana really tried hard to find time for each other, but they both lead busy lives and became more and more distanced from each other – literally.
“It’s a shame but it’s totally amicable. Lana was there to help him adjust to life after Corrie. He’ll always be grateful for that.”
Meanwhile, it was previously claimed that the 32-year-old actor would like to explore a career in theatre after quitting his job on the ITV soap.
An insider said at the time: “He’s really keen to do something credible and has been considering several gritty TV roles – but he’s especially keen on a theatre project.
“He’s seen many of his fellow cast mates, including Julie Hesmondhalgh and David Neilson, take on parts in plays. He wants to challenge himself and move outside his comfort zone. Performing in front of a live audience just feels like the right fit.”
However, Ryan is reportedly keen to avoid any reality shows despite having a number of offers.
The source added: “He’s had quite a few offers over the years but has zero interest in going down that route. He’s too ambitious and focused on the acting.”
And Ryan previously admitted it was an “extremely difficult” decision to decide to leave the Street.
He said at the time: “It has been a great privilege to be in ‘Coronation Street’ – the cast and crew are among the best in the business. To be a part of it for so long has been an amazing experience.
“The decision to leave was extremely difficult. I’m just excited now to see what exit storyline the writers give Jason.”

Chris Fountain appealing for help to trace his stolen car

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Fountain has pleaded with his Twitter followers to help him find his stolen car.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ actor posted an impassioned plea on Twitter on Thursday evening (15.09.16) after his Audi A7 was stolen in Cheadle, Manchester earlier in the day.
He wrote: “My silver Audi A7 (MJ11 MUA) was stolen this morning from Cheadle, Manchester, any info leading to its return will be substantially rewarded …
“If everyone could retweet my last tweet I’d really appreciate it x (sic)”
Meanwhile, the 29-year-old actor previously admitted he became a bit of a recluse after he was sacked from the ITV soap over a rape rap video.
He shared: “Stupidly, when I was quite a bit younger, I got involved with a group of people. I didn’t know them particularly well and just decided to try and impress these people and ended up doing some very stupid things … I’ve constantly worked since I was 15.
“I started on ‘Hollyoaks’ then I did ‘Dancing on Ice’ and then ‘Coronation Street’ and then this happened. It put my family through absolute hell. I didn’t leave the house for a long time. I was depressed, really ashamed.”
After being sacked from his job, Chris tried desperately to focus on his fitness.
He added: “It was tough, this is all I’ve ever done. I’ve always been an actor so to have that taken away from me because of something I’ve brought on myself is an absolute killer but I’ve tried to keep myself busy in the gym.
“It’s such a gift for me to be able to do what I love to do … We start rehearsals [for ‘The Full Monty’] in a couple of weeks … I’ve recently just lost two stone in the gym but still a long way to go.”

Gemma Arterton's career regret

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Arterton regrets not being choosier about her early movies.
The ‘Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time’ actress admitted she wishes she had taken a stance and turned down projects that didn’t appeal to her, rather than just being grateful to be offered work.
Refusing to specify which films she regretted, she admitted: “Sometimes I’ve not put my foot down.
“‘I’ve been like, ‘Oh, thank you so much for the work! I’d better do it.’ Rather than, ‘No, I don’t want to do that.’ ”
The 30-year-old actress admits her own taste in movies is “quite subversive” and her agents have finally started to understand that she’d prefer to appear in smaller, but high quality, projects, such as her upcoming films ‘The Finest’ and ‘The Girl With All The Gifts’.
In two weeks time, Gemma will begin work on ‘Escape’, in which she plays a woman who abandons her husband, who will be played by Dominic Cooper, and children as she goes through a crisis.
The film will be shot in her home town of Gravesend, Kent, South East England, and the actress is also producing for the first time.
Gemma was attracted to the project because of its unique subject matter.
She noted to the Daily Mail newspaper: “No one makes films about women who want to run away.”
The ‘Quantum of Solace’ actress has previously hit out at blockbuster movies for curbing her creativity.
She said: “Theatre was always satisfying and I felt so free and confident and equal.
“With the blockbuster films, I felt like my intelligence was thwarted, and I couldn’t express myself properly. I was not doing the right things for me. It’s taken a few years for me to turn things around and now I’ve got five films coming out this year that I’m really proud of.”

Renée Zellweger on Bridget Jones' return: I was the last to know

OHMYGOSSIP — Renée Zellweger has joked she was the “last to know” about ‘Bridget Jones’s Baby’.
The 47-year-old actress is thrilled to be reprising the titular role in the upcoming movie but has quipped that everyone knew it was happening before she did.
She said: “It was like the boy who cried wolf. I didn’t believe it! I heard from a girlfriend of mine, actually. She sent me a text saying, ‘Yay, yay, yay! I hear she’s back! Congratulations! Have fun!’
“And I said, ‘What are you talking about?!’ She’s married to someone that was involved on the inside of that conversation, so I was the last to know. I didn’t believe it until we said, ‘Okay, that’s a wrap,’ on the picture.”
And Renée was so glad to be back as Bridget when she read through the film’s script for the first time.
She added: “I was so joyful when I was reading that script. I hadn’t realised how much those characters had endeared themselves. I love those characters. I love her parents, her friends and her world.
“I love this character, and it was a happy reunion reading this script. I didn’t want it to end. It made me smile. What I think I was happiest about was that it felt like this matters. Bridget means something to a lot of people, and me included, so I really wanted to be careful with her. With the script, it was just exciting.”
Meanwhile, Renée also revealed she enjoyed the opportunity to evolve the character she has made famous.
She told Collider.com: “I had to figure out how the evolution of this person manifests and, more importantly, how she doesn’t evolve. What does she hold onto that’s familiar? So, it was a different kind of experience, but boy, it sure was fun to figure out.”

Cold Feet to return for second series

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Cold Feet’ is set to get another series.
The popular television series made a triumphant return to ITV earlier this month after a 13-year hiatus but, although viewers are only two episodes in to the current series, Robert Bathurst – who portrays David Marsden in drama – has hinted that another installment could be on the way.
Speaking on ‘BBC Breakfast’ on Thursday (15.09.16), Robert said: “They [the producers] will see how things run – but it’s certainly looking good.
“People seem to be enjoying it. We are optioned for another one but there’s no commitment to that. That’s it – this series may be it, it may be not.”
However, although he has high hopes for another series, the 59-year-old actor isn’t getting excited just yet.
He added: “We always assumed it would be the last one.”
Meanwhile, Robert isn’t the only member of the cast who is desperate to get the show recommissioned as James Nesbitt – who plays Adam Williams – would also like to do another batch of episodes with his co-stars later this year.
He said: “I think we were all very anxious, secretly. It went very well. Another series would be great. The funny thing about being in ‘Cold Feet’ originally was that I couldn’t really enjoy it, because I was in it. But when I watched it this week I loved watching the other characters. It was good.”
Meanwhile, the show’s writer Mike Bullen previously revealed he asked Helen Baxendale – who played the late Rachel Bradley – to return to her role but she declined.
He explained: “I’m quite sentimental. I wanted to find a way of doing ‘Cold Feet’ with the original six … I sent that script to Helen to say, ‘Do you want to do it?’ She was very sweet about the script but she said, no, it wasn’t for her.
“I’m pleased she did because it was the right decision both for her and the show. I was clinging to something that we needed to let go of. But Rachel was such a key part of the show and to all those characters.”

Pointless episode rushed out for cancer sufferer to watch

OHMYGOSSIP — Alexander Armstrong fast-tracked an episode of ‘Pointless’ so that a cancer-stricken contestant could watch it before she died.
The TV host acted swiftly when a family friend of 38-year-old Lucy Booth from Cheshire – who unbeknownst to bosses was battling breast cancer – wrote to him and begged for the show to air quickly because her disease had advanced and she was at risk of dying before seeing her shining moment.
Alexander and compassionate TV executives sped up the production process and managed to make a special DVD of the episode for Lucy – who teamed up with her mum Jackie on the show – and got it to her before cancer claimed her life last month.
The letter to the kind-hearted presenter was written by Lucy and Jackie’s friend Sue Winter and said: “I beg you from the bottom of my heart, Lucy is amazing and is fighting as hard as she can but her options are dwindling fast.
“Lucy has really not let it take over her life. Last year when she and her mum went to London to film the show they had a wonderful experience.
“I’m afraid that the cancer is now fighting back with extra ground troops deployed throughout Lucy’s body. She is now very poorly.
“Please Alexander can you make some calls and have the Booth girls episode shown much sooner than that so that Lucy will be able to watch it?”
Lucy managed to watch her small screen moment, which has since aired on TV, two weeks before she took her final breath.
Speaking to the Mirror Online, Sue said: “Lucy did get to watch it…. Lucy and Jackie watched it together two weeks before she passed away.”
Lucy – who lived in London – died on August 9 in a hospice with her mum and dad Alan by her side.
The full episode aired on BBC One on Wednesday (14.09.16) and viewers were shocked to learn of Lucy’s death when a tribute flashed across the screen during the closing credits.

James Corden inspires new ITV late-night chat show

OHMYGOSSIP — A new late-night chat show is set to hit ITV next year.
The broadcaster wants to emulate the success of James Corden’s ‘Late Late Show’ in the US by mimicking its format and putting its own twist on it for its own hit series.
A spokesperson for ITV told The Times newspaper: “We are looking at an entertainment show for next year, more details will be confirmed in due course.”
Despite ITV’s exciting plans, bosses are yet to nab a well-known star to host the forthcoming project but have reportedly already decided that it’ll run with a different celebrity every new episode.
It’s expected the new entertainment show will air on weekdays for a period of two months to begin with, according to Broadcast magazine.
The programme will also run segments like James’ popular ‘Carpool Karaoke’ and ‘Drop The Mic’, which are published on YouTube.
ITV is reportedly so keen to get the show up and running that it’s planning to move ‘News at Ten’ to a later slot to fit it in.
The director of ITV, Kevin Lygo – who took over from Peter Finchman in January – recently said of his plans: “If we say to viewers ‘This is what we want to do, it’s here for eight weeks, look at the trails’, then the confidence of the channel behind these shows transmits to the viewers.”
Meanwhile, it was recently reported that the ‘Jonathan Ross Show’ was being axed following a plunge in ratings.
But bosses at the channel are adamant Jonathan’s break from the small screen is merely temporary while he travels the US and the show will be back in the autumn of 2017.
Mr. Lygo explained: “Jonathan Ross is very important to ITV and we look forward to the new series this autumn and the Christmas special and working with him again next year when the chat show returns in autumn 2017.”

Sarah-Jane Mee to host Sunrise

OHMYGOSSIP — Sarah-Jane Mee will be the new anchor for Sky News’ ‘Sunrise’.
The 38-year-old presenter will take over the reins from Eamonn Holmes when he turns his back on the early morning breakfast show next month following 11 years at the helm.
She said of her appointment: “Taking over from Eamonn is a real honour and I feel privileged that I will be starting the day with ‘Sunrise’ viewers around the UK and beyond.
“Live news is always such a thrill, you never know where the morning will take you and I looking forward to finding out.”
The blonde beauty started her career as a runner for Sky Sports before she was nabbed by ITV and sent to the Midlands to present sport and co-host the breakfast show on Heart FM.
She then returned to Sky in 2008 and has since presented shows such as ‘Saturday Night Football’ and ‘Cricket AM’.
She’s also responsible for breaking some of the world’s biggest news such as the death of Margaret Thatcher in 2013 and the Brussels terrorist attack earlier this year.
John Ryley, Head of Sky News, explained: “She’s [Sarah-Jane] enjoying a stellar career here at Sky and will bring a fresh outlook to ‘Sunrise’, combining a lightness of touch with sharp journalistic nous; I know she will excel in her new role.”
Eamonn, 56, announced he was leaving ‘Sunrise’ earlier this month but had nothing but praise for Sky and their support.
He said in a Facebook post at the time: “Anchoring my own breakfast show for 11 years has been for me the stuff of boyhood dreams.
“It was the job I hoped to do as a young Belfast lad – and because of Sky News I got there!
“Forty five years plus on I have other dreams, and to achieve them I realise that unfortunately I need to step away from the daily studio commitment for a while.
“There is an addiction to a live breaking news studio environment. However, after more than 3,000 hours of programming it is a habit I have to suppress.”
Eamonn will still present ‘This Morning’ on Fridays and over the summer with his wife Ruth Langsford, as well as host his comedy panel game show ‘It’s Not Me, It’s You’.
But he’d also like to turn his attention to documentaries, which he’s been forced to stall for many years due to his schedule.

Outnumbered to return for Christmas special

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Outnumbered’ is to return for a one-off Christmas special.
The hilarious sitcom will bound back on to screens later this year as fans tap into the lives of Jake, Ben and Karen (played by Tyger Drew-Honey, Daniel Roche and Ramona Marquez, respectively) once again and see what dramas they’re causing their parents Pete and Sue (Hugh Dennis and Claire Skinner) two years on from the last series in 2014.
The show’s creator Andy Hamilton said: “The first reaction [when it turns up at Christmas] will probably be, ‘My God, the kids are huge now!’
“The second reaction will be the one the writers have been getting since the series started in 2007: ‘I reckon you must have cameras in our house.’
“I remember writing a scene with [director] Guy [Jenkin] where Karen had been knocked down. The two parents start reminiscing about the number of times they’ve managed to maim their children. Me and Guy pooled our experiences – I left our eldest behind on an island, and put that in.”
And, although the pair aren’t planning to make a whole series for the comedy, which ran from 2007 until 2014, Andy hopes to pen a special every few years.
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph newspaper, he explained: “Our plan is to pop in every couple of years and see how the family is getting on. You learn not to think too far ahead, but who knows? Many years down the line there’ll be an episode where Karen becomes a grandmother.”

BBC to launch new cooking show to rival Great British Bake Off

OHMYGOSSIP — The BBC is planning to launch a new cooking show to rival ‘Great British Bake Off’ once it moves to Channel 4.
The broadcaster – which has screened the programme since 2010 – recently lost its rights to air the series after it failed to come to a monetary agreement with Love Productions, the masterminds behind the show, this week.
But, despite the panic that swept through the nation when it was confirmed Channel 4 will take over the reins from next year, the BBC isn’t overly worried as it’s toying with the idea of creating its own show with judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood but with a different format and location.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “It’s not beyond the realms of possibility. It is nearly impossible to protect a television format. Let’s face it, sticking four people in a tent and making them cook is hardly rocket science.
“Mary and Paul could do that under a different name, in a different location. It would be hard to argue. And it would save the hassle of uprooting to Channel 4.”
It’s believed the BBC’s decision to create its own baking show comes after presenters Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins quit in light of the news that Channel 4 were taking over.
Mary and Paul are yet to announce their decision but are currently in salary negotiations with Channel 4.
The BBC offered Love Productions an estimated £15 million per year – double the current contract – in a bid to keep hold of the show, but producers refused to accept offers below £25 million.
It’s believed Channel 4 quickly waded in with a three-year deal – worth a reported £75 million – after talks between the BBC and Love Productions broke down earlier this week.
Channel 4 have already confirmed plans to air a celebrity ‘Bake Off’ special in aid of Stand Up To Cancer next year, and it is thought they may have to wait until 2018 for a regular series due to a clause between the BBC and Love Productions.

Tom Cruise's American Made producers sued for plane crash

OHMYGOSSIP — The producers of Tom Cruise’s ‘American Made’ are being sued following a fatal plane crash.
The family of one of three victims of the tragic accident that occurred last year during the making of the biopic – in which the 54-year-old actor plays a drug smuggler – has submitted a case of wrongful death against producers Imagine Entertainment in Los Angeles’ Superior Court.
The twin engine Aerostar plane crashed approximately 10 minutes after it departed near a jungle in Colombia where they filmed on location and was headed to the city of Medellin in the country’s mountainous Antioquia province.
Cruise – who is a trained pilot – was not on board however Berl, who was a co-pilot learning the ropes died alongside a stunt pilot, Alan Purwin, whilst the pilot in command, Jimmy Lee Garland, survived but was left severely injured.
The lawsuit claims the flight was “rushed” and took off over unsuitable terrain, stating : “The terrain over which the Subject Aircraft would fly in order to reach Medillin was unsuitably difficult for such an instructional flight, especially one conducted in a rushed and unscheduled manner in an aircraft with limited flight data and weather instrumentation.”
Cruise traveled the same journey through the Andes Mountains via helicopter just 10 minutes earlier and landed safely, according to court papers.
The upcoming blockbuster is based on Barry Seal – the former Trans World Airline pilot – who used to smuggle in drugs to America and other contraband during the 1980s for the CIA and the Medellin Cartel.
Cruise takes the lead role in the movie, set to be released in September 2017.

Margot Robbie signs deal for Harley Quinn spin-off movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Margot Robbie has signed a “first-look” deal with Warner Bros. Pictures to produce the standalone movie about Harley Quinn.
The 26-year-old actress brought the sexy psychotic supervillain to life under the guidance of the studio in DC Comics movie ‘Suicide Squad’ earlier this year and has now confirmed a spin-off movie about the anti-hero with the studio.
Robbie will lead a cast of female characters from the DC Universe in the new film, which she was keen to bring to fruition after she fell in love with Harley and the team of villains in ‘Suicide Squad’.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Margot was the “impetus for the project. When she got the part for the movie, she dove deep into the comics to learn as much as possible about the character. In the process, she fell for DC’s female characters. She brought on the writer to help develop the project and brought it to Warners, which snapped it up”.
It’s not known whether Harley Quinn’s dangerous lover The Joker (Jared Leto) will star in the spin-off or Batman (Ben Affleck) who is traditionally the superhero trying to stop the pair’s criminal plans.
But Robbie is certainly keen to reunite Harley and Leto’s version of The Clown Prince of Crime.
She said: “I’m trying to make that happen. Not for anything specifically, but just something – there’s so much more to do.”
The blonde-beauty – who shot to international fame in Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ – will produce with LuckyChaps and is at present cutting her producing teeth on ‘Terminal’.
She’s also set to star in and produce the upcoming psychological thriller ‘Bad Monkeys’ and will depict disgraced figure skater Tonya Harding in the biopic ‘I, Tonya’.
Meanwhile, LuckyChap is developing and producing, who the actress will also depict in the movie.

Simon Webbe lands role in Scottish soap

OHMYGOSSIP — Simon Webbe has landed a role in Scotland’s biggest soap.
The Blue singer will join the ‘River City’ as army veteran Andy in November when his alter ego rocks up in Shieldinch as a close friend of the suburb’s newcomers The Roth family.
He said of his new role: “It’s an amazing feeling getting a role on ‘River City’. Getting into acting and being taken seriously is something that I’ve always wanted to do.
“Going from being a TV extra into being in a boy band, it’s an absolute dream come true.
“‘River City’ is full of feisty characters and I can’t wait to get my teeth into Andy’s storylines.
“This is the first time I’ve acted in Scotland but I’ve toured here loads of times with Blue … and I supported Wet Wet Wet. My experience has always been, the further north you go, the louder the fans get and that’s the vibe I always get in Scotland. People recognise you in the street and are always welcoming. I can’t wait to get started on ‘River City’.”
Despite his excitement, this isn’t the first time the 38-year-old hunk has sunk his teeth into acting as he’s also appeared in 2005’s ‘The Truth About Love’, which saw Jennifer Love Hewitt in the lead, and the crime thriller ‘Rollin’ with the Nines’.
Meanwhile, Simon isn’t the first member of the popular 90s boy band to break the small screen, as Duncan James has just landed the role of Ryan Knight in ‘Hollyoaks’.
However, his contract was thrown into jeopardy a few months ago when he was forced to undergone emergency surgery on his spine just a week before he was meant to start shooting his debut scenes for the Channel 4 show.
