Great British Bake Off will have 'safe home' with Channel 4

OHMYGOSSIP — The ‘Great British Bake Off’ will have a “safe home” with Channel 4.
The popular baking show has been hitting the headlines every hour since it was announced that the BBC – who has screened the programme since 2010 – had lost its rights to air the series next year, but Jay Hunt – who is the channel 4’s chief creative officer – has promised the baking show will be in capable hands when it shifts across in 2017.
Writing in the Daily Telegraph newspaper, Ms. Hunt said: “‘Great British Bake Off’ will have a safe home. The show of soggy bottoms and good crumb will be made by exactly the same team who have always made it. We love it just as it is. And for an amateur baker like me, that’s a real cause for celebration.”
Ms. Hunt – who used to work for the BBC – believes Channel 4’s quick intervention after talks between the BBC and Love Production, the makers of the show, crumbled meant that it prevented the series being snatched by a pay-to-view service.
She explained: “The BBC and Love Productions grew ‘…Bake Off’ from a quaint idea into a global hit. But when they were unable to reach agreement on future series, ‘…Bake Off’ risked coming off free-to-air television altogether. By bringing the show to Channel 4, Love Productions have ensured it will be on a terrestrial channel for audiences to enjoy for years to come.”
Despite Ms. Hunt’s confidence, Channel 4 – who bought the show for £75 million earlier this week – is going to extreme lengths to persuade the programme’s judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood to stay with the series when it moves as they’re concerned they’ll quit following the exit of presenters Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Mary and Paul have always stressed they would stand by Mel and Sue as they see them as family. They spend a huge amount of time together over the course of filming and outside that as well.
“But they’re at least listening to the proposition that Channel 4 are offering them, rather than just blindly ruling it out like Mel and Sue. They don’t want to seem disloyal to anyone … Channel 4 are desperate to get them on board now, despite yesterday thinking they could go on without them. They are offering them big money, more input into the show, the works. If Paul and Mary go it’ll be a complete disaster.”
The BBC offered Love Productions an estimated £15 million per year – double the current contract – in a bid to keep hold of the show, but producers refused to accept offers below £25 million.
It’s believed Channel 4 quickly waded in with a three-year deal – worth a reported £75 million – after talks between the BBC and Love Productions broke down late Monday (12.09.16) afternoon.
Channel 4 have already confirmed plans to air a celebrity ‘Bake Off’ special in aid of Stand Up To Cancer next year, and it is thought they may have to wait until 2018 for a regular series due to a clause between the BBC and Love Productions.

Riley Carter Millington quits EastEnders

OHMYGOSSIP — Riley Carter Millington has quit ‘EastEnders’.
The 21-year-old actor – who was the first transgender male to play a transgender character in a UK soap – has only portrayed Kyle Slater for a year but is being driven out of the show by producers as they believes his alter ego has reached a “natural end.”
Speaking to Metro.co.uk, Riley said: “When I landed a six-month contract at ‘EastEnders’ it was a dream come true. For that to be extended to a year was something I never expected.”
Riley is set to bow out of the long-running soap in the coming months but he’s hoping the door will be left open for him to return.
He explained: “However, as the time comes for Kyle to depart Walford I am looking forward to taking on new roles and who knows, Kyle may find his way back to Walford one day.”
It’s not yet known how Kyle will leave the Square but it’s thought conniving Steven Beale (Aaron Sidwell) will have something to do with it as the pair have been at loggerheads since he found out at the restaurant manager had faked a break in at the eatery, Beales.
Meanwhile, Riley’s exit is just one in a long list of departures coming up over the next few months as Ellen Thomas – who plays mega bitch Claudette Hubbard – Samantha Womack and Rita Simons, who portray Ronnie and Roxy Mitchell respectively, Karl Howman – who is known as Buster Briggs – Roger Sloman and Lin Blakley, who play Les and Pam Coker respectively, Nintin Genatra as the beloved Masood Ahmed, and Danny-Boy Hatchard, who portrays Lee Carter, have also decided to quit.
The shake up comes just a few months after new executive producer Sean O’Connor took over from Dominic Treadwell-Collins.

Joan Collins snubbed Hollyoaks

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Joan Collins turned down a part in ‘Hollyoaks’.
The 83-year-old legend has revealed she was offered the role of Tabitha Maxwell-brown in the Channel 4 soap but she snubbed the chance and bosses were forced to approach her former ‘Dallas’ co-star Linda Gray instead.
Speaking at her new comedy show, ‘Jonas Collins Unscripted’, she said: “I was just asked to be in ‘Hollyoaks’ but I’m not doing it. You know who is doing it? Linda Gray.
“Between filming a movie and my new show I wouldn’t have had time for anything else.”
Linda – who was known for portraying long-suffering wife Sue Ellen Ewing in CBS’ ‘Dallas’ between 1978 and 1989 – announced she had joined the Channel 4 soap earlier this month and was “thrilled” she had been chosen by bosses.
She said at the time: “I’m thrilled to be going from one iconic series to another and can’t wait to work with the fantastic cast.
“‘Hollyoaks’ viewers are going to love it when Tabby whips up a storm just like Sue Ellen did.”
Although Linda’s appearance in the show will only last a week, bosses have left the door open for a future return.
‘Hollyoaks’ Executive producer Bryan Kirkwood explained: “When we came to discuss who could possibly play Marnie’s [Lysette Anthony] mother the list was very small.
“Lysette Anthony has fast become a fabulous soap bitch so having Linda Gray play her mother Tabitha is the perfect fit.
“We can’t wait to have an international TV icon arrive in Chester and become part of the ‘Hollyoaks’ family.”
Meanwhile, Linda isn’t the only newbie on the soap as Chelsee Healey has also joined the programme as “tough, gobby and absolutely shameless” Goldie McQueen.
The 27-year-old actress will play a distant member of the mouthy family and is set to wreak havoc in Chester when she goes to extreme lengths to make cash for her sons.

Justice League directpr Zack Snyder reveals Batman's new suit

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Justice League’ director Zack Snyder has unveiled Batman’s new “Tactical” Batsuit.
The filmmaker has shared a picture of the latest armour created for The Dark Knight which will be worn by Ben Affleck in the forthcoming DC Comics movie.
Alongside a picture of Affleck as Batman suited up, standing alongside what appears to be a redesigned Batmobile, Snyder wrote on Twitter: “Homestretch. Last day filming Batman in the new Tactical Batsuit (sic)”
Eagle-eyed fans will notice The Caped Crusader is wearing high-tech goggles over his eyes and that the suit has armoured plating.
Affleck stars in the film alongside Ezra Miller as The Flash, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Ray Fisher as Cyborg.
DC Entertainment President Geoff Johns recently revealed that ‘Justice League’ won’t be so “gritty”, following the negative criticism ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ received as the story has moved on and Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Comics have decided to make the ensemble movie “hopeful and optimistic”.
Speaking to The Wall Street Journal newspaper, Johns – who is working as a producer on the superhero film – said: “Mistakenly in the past I think the studio has said, ‘Oh, DC films are gritty and dark and that’s what makes them different.’ That couldn’t be more wrong. It’s a hopeful and optimistic view of life. Even Batman has a glimmer of that in him. If he didn’t think he’d make tomorrow better, he’d stop.”
Affleck also previously stated that Bruce Wayne and his alter ego Batman will have a “dark” sense of humour in the movie.
The 44-year-old actor said: “He’s a little bit more sardonic, humour, a little more irony. He’s a little more of a man on a mission this time. As opposed to being so full of anger because of what happened at the Black Zero Event. That kind of rage that possessed him. And now he’s on a mission to get this group together. To constitute this League. But, more of that sort of Bruce Wayne, wry, ironic gallows humour comes out.”

Rob Lowe to star in Super Troopers 2

OHMYGOSSIP — Rob Lowe will star in ‘Super Troopers 2’.
The 52-year-old actor has joined the cast of the comedy which has been financed through a crowd-funding campaign and will play an ex-hockey player-turned-mayor of a small town on the Quebec Canadian border.
Jay Chandrasekhar – who directed the 2001 original – is behind the camera the sequel that is already in production in Boston..
Last year Super Trooper fans were able to donate to the makers of the hit movie Broken Lizard and in 30 days they raked in $4.4 million through crowdfunding.
The sequel brings back the original five Vermont State Troopers – including Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, and Erik Stolhanske – who raised hell by pranking motorists on the highway and fought against government plans to shut them down.
Lowe starred in hit TV comedy ‘Parks and Recreation’ from 2009 until it ended last year and recently joined the CBS drama series ‘Code Black’.
Next on the big screen he’s set to star in ‘How To Be A Latin Lover’ alongside Salma Hayek, Kristen Bell, Michael Cera and Rob Riggle.
Rob isn’t afraid of being the butt of the joke, and earlier this month put himself up for a grilling on Comedy Central’s ‘Roast’.

Coronation Street's Steve McDonald to be hit with life-changing news

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Coronation Street’ landlord Steve McDonald is set to be hit with life-changing health news.
The Rovers Return boss – played by 41-year-old Simon Gregson – was caught in a mammoth plot twist last month after it was revealed that he got his girlfriend Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh) pregnant, as well as Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) after a one-night stand. But it doesn’t look as though the drama stops there for Steve, as more bad news is on the way.
In a new storyline, Steve will be told he might have myotonic dystrophy, a genetic disorder passed down from his dad Jim McDonald.
To make matters worse, Steve will have to come to terms with the fact he may have passed the muscle wasting condition on to his two unborn children.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, an insider revealed: “Steve’s life was thrown into complete chaos when he discovered he had impregnated his missus – and a woman who isn’t his missus. And viewers will soon see Steve suffer even further when he is told he could have myotonic dystrophy – a disorder which could ultimately be life-threatening. Obviously the impact of the disorder on him would be huge if he has it but as it’s genetic both his babies with Michelle and Leanne could have it too.”
The storyline will see Steve’s dad Jim phone him to tell him he has been diagnosed with the disorder that causes muscle wasting and weakness, and to tell him that he might have it too.
With concerns looming about Steve’s unborn babies, he must then admit to girlfriend Michelle that their baby is at risk. However, things get complicated when Michelle confides her baby fears in new friend Leanne, not realising that she too is carrying Steve’s child.
The source added: “This story could be the tipping point for Leanne and force her to reveal that Steve’s the father of her baby.”

Matt Damon backing Ocean's Eight

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Damon “can’t wait” to see ‘Ocean’s Eight’.
The 45-year-old actor – who played pickpocket Linus Caldwell alongside George Clooney and Brad Pitt in the three previous ‘Ocean’s’ movies – thinks the upcoming female reboot is a great idea.
He gushed: “I think it’s going to be awesome.”
The heist comedy will star Anne Hathaway, Sandra Bullock, Helena Bonham Carter, Cate Blanchett, Sarah Paulson, Rihanna, Mindy Kaling and rapper Awkwafina, and Matt thinks they’ll do a great job.
He told ET Canada: “They’re going to kick ass.”
Meanwhile, Clooney has recently produced ‘Manchester by the Sea’, which stars Casey Affleck, Kyle Chandler and Michelle Williams, and though he was initially supposed to direct too, he is thankful he passed those duties on to Kenneth Longeran.
He said: “It’s so beautifully written. It’s one of best screenplays I’ve ever seen.
“I was initially supposed to direct [the film], and I read it, and I was just slobbering in tears. I just called Kenny immediately and said, ‘Kenny, you have to direct this. There’s no other way that this can be done.’
“Probably, as a producer, the smartest thing I did was getting out of the way.”
It was previously revealed that Damon and his ‘Ocean’s’ co-stars could land cameo roles in the new movie, which reportedly revolves around a heist at the Met Gala.
And filmmaker Gary Ross promised the movie will be an “extension and a continuation” of the Clooney-led trilogy.
He said: “You know, Steven Soderbergh and I are incredibly close friends, and we would not have done this if we weren’t.
“I don’t think he would’ve wanted anyone to do it if we weren’t. This is very much an extension and a continuation. He’s a producer on the movie.”
The first ‘Ocean’s 11’ movie was made in 1960 and saw Frank Sinatra in the title role of Danny Ocean, with his co-stars including fellow Rat Pack members Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop.
Clooney took on the titular role in the 2001 movie ‘Ocean’s Eleven’, reprising the part for ‘Ocean’s Twelve’ in 2004 and ‘Ocean’s Thirteen’ three years later.

Eddie Murphy: There will always be more Shrek movies

OHMYGOSSIP — Eddie Murphy has promised DreamWorks will “always” make more ‘Shrek’ movies.
The 55-year-old actor first stepped into the role of the animated donkey, who is simply known as Donkey, in 2001, and after the announcement of a fifth ‘Shrek’ saga on the way in 2019, the Hollywood legend thinks he’ll be in the role forever as the studio knows the films will always be a hit.
Speaking to Collider.com, he said: “Anything that’s been as successful as ‘Shrek’, anything that people really like, they’re always going to make those movies. They don’t stop making those types of movies until the audience says ‘no more!’
“If it’s been successful you’ll see another ‘Toy Story’, and ‘Shrek’ is one of those movies. And they took a nice long break. The next ‘Shrek’ … I think Jeffrey [Katzenberg, producer] told me 2019. But they’ve got a good script, they wrote a nice good script.”
But the ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ star might not be happy with a life of playing the comic relief character, as he’s recently been moving into more serious dramas.
His new project ‘Mr. Church’ isn’t a funny film, and the star said that is exactly what drew him to it.
He revealed: “I’ve played everything from a donkey to an old lady already. And I’ve done movies that may have had a serious scene in it, or a dramatic moment, but everything I’ve done has always had something funny going on. And this was a guy that’s not funny, the situation and the story isn’t funny. There’s some charming moments and some light hearted things but it’s a really serious movie, and that’s what made me interested in doing it.”
The ‘Coming To America’ actor – who is best known for his comedic characters – also revealed that he had a “strong reaction” when he was sent the script for ‘Mr. Church’, and said he wanted to accept the role because it was something that he doesn’t “get offered”.
He said: “I had a really strong reaction when I read the script. And I was really rested, I wasn’t doing anything and this popped up and it seemed like that would be … I don’t know if fun is the right word to use but I thought it would give me an opportunity to do something that I hadn’t done before. I don’t get offered stuff like this.”

Stephanie Pratt: Joey Essex is everything I don't want in a man

OHMYGOSSIP — Stephanie Pratt insists Joey Essex is everything she “doesn’t want” in a man.
The ‘Made in Chelsea’ star shared a kiss with the former ‘Only Way Is Essex’ cast member on ‘Celebs Go Dating’, but the only way she can see them ever getting together is if they are “best friends” for a long time first.
She told heat magazine: “He’s everything I don’t want in a man.
“He’s vain, and he’s skinnier than me. I can’t even understand him. I need a dictionary.
“The only thing I’m really thinking is I can see being a best friend that I fall in love with.”
While Stephanie complains she can’t understand Joey and hates his use of “ain’t” instead of “isn’t”, he insists her US twang is just as difficult to comprehend.
He said: “I couldn’t retrain myself. Steph will have to compromise and I’ll have to compromise with her.
“She’s American. I can’t understand a word she’s saying. This is an international thing.
“It’s like speaking to someone from Spain. Most of the words she says, I’m like, ‘What?’ ”
And if the pair do get together, neither of them are willing to relocate to where the other lives.
Joey said: “[Would I move?] No way. I chill at home. London is to work and to shop.”
And Stephanie said: “I don’t even know where Essex is. It feels like hours away. A passport situation.”
Stephanie doesn’t seem to be too interested in finding out more about Joey.
She said: “I haven’t Googled him and I don’t follow him on Instagram or Twitter either.”

Kate Barmby leaves Great British Bake Off

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Barmby has been kicked off ‘The Great British Bake Off’.
The nurse failed to impress judges Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry throughout the challenges but it was her rabbit-shaped churros, which Paul said looked “flat, like they’ve been run over”, which confirmed her imminent departure.
Speaking after her exit, she said: “I don’t think I’ve completely humiliated myself. There’s been some fantastic bakes in amongst some of the shocking ones … I had a shocking week …
“I’m not going to cry because it’s over because I’m going to get to watch and see who finishes this journey.”
And judge Paul Hollywood added: “Is she the worst baker in the group? No she isn’t. But this weekend, she was. That’s how ‘Bake Off’ works.”
Elsewhere in the show, the Star Baker title was awarded to Benjamina Ebuehi, who wowed with her tropical churros.
She said excitedly: “I’ve conquered the batter. Star baker. I’m really really happy.”
Whilst Mary was particularly impressed with her churros, adding: “Oh, was I thrilled to see Benjamina’s churros. Sheer joy! She did brilliantly.”
For the technical challenge during this week’s show, the contestants were asked to make beautifully intricate heart-shaped pancakes. Whilst for the showstopper round, they were tasked with making 36 churros.
Speaking before the challenge commenced, Mary said: “I want them to think outside of the box and do something quite different.”
On next week’s show, the contestants will battle it out to produce the most perfect pastries.

X Factor's Rebekah Ryan arrested

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘X Factor’ hopeful Rebekah Ryan has been arrested.
The wannabe singer – whose audition for the show was aired at the weekend – was detained by police on Sunday (11.09.16) after she attacked her son’s father’s new girlfriend Dee Overton outside a pub in Tamworth, Staffordshire.
A spokesperson for the police told The Sun Online: “We were called at 7.15pm on Sunday, September 11 to reports of an assault outside the Fox Inn in Tamworth.
“A 29-year-old woman from Tamworth suffered swelling to her eye after she was punched in the face.
“A 40-year-old woman was arrested and given a conditional caution for assault by beating.”
Rebekah split with Matt Debono, with whom she has son Seb, last year following nine years together.
A source explained: “Matt and Rebekah were together for about nine years and split over a year ago.
“Her ex’s new partner was trying to keep the peace. She was the mediator and then this happened.”
Meanwhile, Rebekah’s run in with the law will no doubt come as a shock to bosses as during her audition she had judges in tears with her rendition of Sarah McLachlan’s ‘Angels’.
Just before she belted out the lyrics in the audition room, Rebekah – who had two previous record deals – revealed that she lost her three-year-old son Ethan, her child from a previous relationship, to Sandhoff Syndrome.
She explained that her son was misdiagnosed by doctors after he showed no signs of developing aged 10 months.

Malika Haqq for Celebrity Big Brother?

OHMYGOSSIP — Malika Haqq is in talks for next year’s ‘Celebrity Big Brother’.
The 33-year-old star is wanted for the next series of the Channel 5 reality TV show in January as bosses are hoping she will reveal the “darkest secrets” of the Kardashian clan – the biggest family in showbiz which she’s close to – if she inks a deal with producers over the next coming months.
A source said: “The Kardashians are facing the new year from hell. If Malika ends up going in she’s likely to reveal plenty about them.
“Malika is a shoulder to cry on for Khloe and regularly spends time with the entire Kardashian family.
“She knows all the sisters’ darkest secrets.”
Malika is said to have been offered a six-figure sum after Amber Rose asked for £800,000 recently.
The insider added to the Daily Star newspaper: “Amber was asking for way too much. Malika is likely to cost much less and will be just as good for the show.”
Meanwhile, it wouldn’t be the first time a member of the ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashian’ clan has taken part in ‘CBB’ as Kim Kardashian West’s best friend Jonathan Cheban was a contestant for just a week last January.
The 42-year-old PR maven had been struggling to cope during his time on the reality television show and regularly complained of feeling claustrophobic.
He said while in the Diary Room at the time: “Right now I’m feeling a little bit edgy and claustrophobic. I’m definitely a little bit torn on whether to stay. There’s a point when my mental stability is more important that entertaining.
“I know Big Brother would not want me pain especially when I give 24 hour entertainment.”
Later talking to his best friend in the house ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ star Gemma Collins, the bubbly blonde encouraged him to stick it out, adding that it would help boost his UK profile.
But Jonathan responded: “It’s not that, I’m huge here. We’re [‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians] on in 180 countries!”
He agreed to stay for another day and see if it improved, but later told a producer in the Diary Room: “I feel like it’s closing in, there’s no room to hide so until I get out of here I’m not going to be calm.”

Stephanie Davis' boobs almost touch belly button

OHMYGOSSIP — Stephanie Davis’ boobs almost touch her belly button.
The 23-year-old actress can’t believe how quickly her bosoms have grown since she found out she was pregnant with her first child five months ago and is concerned they’re getting so big that she’ll need a special brace made for them.
Writing in her blog post for OK! magazine, she said: “I’ve also started getting stretch marks on my boobs which are fine because that’s proof of my beautiful pregnancy, but I am starting to worry about how big they’re getting! It didn’t bother me at first because I was like ‘woo! look at my mangos!’ as I’ve always wanted big boobs but now, I need them to stop growing! I’m going to need a personal boob carrier at this rate.
“They’re killing me too because they’re so big – I can’t even see my tattoos anymore. I’m worried in a few weeks they’ll be touching my belly button …”
And it’s not just her breasts that are concerning her as she’s also battling with spider veins – large, raised, swollen blood vessels that are common in pregnancy – on her face.
She explained: “This week I’ve noticed I’ve been getting these things called spider veins, which happens in pregnancy and it’s weirded me out a bit.
“They’re like little burst vessels and I’ve got them on my chest, one on my face and legs … I’ve still got 4 months to go and I think my skin has had enough.
“My stomach is okay at the moment but my actual skin feels like it can’t stretch anymore. I don’t physically know how I’m going to get any bigger.”

Vicky Pattison 'taken out' by kayak

OHMYGOSSIP — Vicky Pattison will never kayak again after she capsized and was “taken out” by the boat at bootcamp on Wednesday (14.09.16).
The 29-year-old presenter decided to abandon the narrow watercraft after just 20 minutes in the sea when she was turned upside down and wiped out by the heavy mode of transport.
Taking to her Twitter account, she said: “So it’s official…. I HATE KAYAKING… Sacked it off after 20minutes this week… Then capsized & was taken out by the kayak.. NEVER AGAIN. (sic)”
And that wasn’t the only brush with death the former ‘Geordie Shore’ star has suffered since starting her well-being retreat in Portugal as Vicky also attempted to kayak last week as well.
She said: “Back from kayaking.. Only just I might add & I was hit my 2 big boats & mine & @GavinFoord’s friendship barely survived.. I hate kayaking. (sic)”
The brunette beauty started her fitness journey on September 5 and has been there every day since in a bid to lose weight.

Paul Hollywood to stay as a judge on Great British Bake Off?

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Hollywood has hinted that he’ll stay as a judge on the ‘Great British Bake Off’ when it moves channels next year.
The 50-year-old silverfox – who has featured on the programme for six years – is not ready to wave goodbye to the cooking show yet and will follow it across to Channel 4 when it leaves the BBC later this year because he’s employed by Love Productions – the company behind the popular series – rather than the broadcaster.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, he said: “It’s not my call. I work for Love Productions. I work for the ‘Bake Off’.”
The fate of his co-judge Mary Berry is not yet known but her husband Paul J.M. Hunnings doesn’t think she’ll stay.
He said: “She’s [Mary] very happy with the BBC, put it that way. [At the moment I don’t think Mary is] signing anything with Channel 4 and what her colleagues choose to do will be a factor in her final decision.”
And the 81-year-old baking legend is no doubt heartbroken that the programme’s co-hosts Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins have quit as the presenters following the news that the BBC has lost its rights to the show.
Mary said recently: “The four of us, Mel, Sue, Paul and me, are a team. We get on really well and our aim is to make a good programme.
“A lot of that goes to Mel and Sue — if you could hear what they say off camera you would laugh even more.”
