Steven Moffat: I haven't blocked Torchwood S4

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Doctor Who’ boss Steven Moffat is “a little cross” about claims he blocked a fourth series of spin off show ‘Torchwood’.
The 54-year-old producer has been the subject of claims made by John Barrowman – who starred in the show when it aired from 2006-2011 – suggesting the showrunner prevented the actor from putting plans for a fourth series in place.
In July, 49-year-old John said: “I’m being told that it can’t come back until it’s got approval from certain people involved with ‘Doctor Who’. But that might change when somebody leaves, and when somebody new and wonderful comes in.”
The “somebody new” referred to Chris Chibnall, who will replace Steven as the show’s boss next year, and who also produced the first two series of ‘Torchwood’.
Steven has now hit back at the claims he had anything to do with stopping a fourth series of the show, insisting he “wouldn’t be able to block it” even if he wanted to.
He said: “You may be aware that John Barrowman has been saying, publicly, that I’ve been blocking a new series of ‘Torchwood’. To be very clear – I haven’t blocked it; I wouldn’t block it; I wouldn’t even be able to block it. I didn’t even know a revival had been mooted till I read about it on the internet.
“I am bewildered, and a little cross, even to be included in this conversation.”
The producer also claimed he was a fan of the show – which followed John’s character Captain Jack Harkness after he left The Doctor to work for a covert agency called the Torchwood Institute – and he was tired of the “hate mail” he had received from the fans of the spin off.
He said: “As John perfectly well knows, it’s not my show and I could no more prevent it happening that he could cancel ‘Sherlock’.
“For the record, I really liked the show and would be very happy to see more – monsters and mayhem, why not?
“But the fact is, it has nothing to do with me. Please pass this on to the anxious and the angry – I’ve had enough hate mail now.”

Star Wars spin off confirmed for 2020

OHMYGOSSIP — A new ‘Star Wars’ spin off has been confirmed for 2020.
Disney CEO Bob Iger admitted he met with a writer for a new movie in the sci-fi franchise, and there are further plans in place for films “beyond” then.
He is quoted by Comic Book Movie as saying: “I had a meeting yesterday with [producers] Kathy Kennedy and we mapped out – well, we reviewed – the ‘Star Wars’ plans that we have until 2020.
“We have movies in development for ‘Star Wars’ until then, and we started talking about what we’re going to do in 2021 and beyond.”
The new film is likely to be part of the ‘Anthology’ spin off series which is bringing fans ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ later this year, and an as yet untitled Han Solo movie due for 2018.
Rumours circulating the franchise suggest that the 2020 project could centre around intergalactic bounty hunter Boba Fett.
Bob, 65, also described the upcoming ‘Rogue One’ spin off as “experimental”, playing down expectations that it would match the $2 billion box office haul achieved by previous film ‘Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens’.
He said: “We never felt it would do the level that ‘Force Awakens’ did.
“[But] the level of interest [in ‘Rogue One’] is as high as it was for ‘Force Awakens’. It’s really interesting in terms of ‘Star Wars’ storytelling. ‘Star Wars’ has only been told as a saga, and this is a moment in time … we love what we’ve seen.”
‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ is to be released in 2017 and ‘Episode IX’ in 2019.

Mark Wahlberg working with David O. Russell on priest film

OHMYGOSSIP — Mark Wahlberg is working with David O. Russell on a film about a famous priest.
The 45-year-old actor and the director – who worked together on ‘The Fighter’ and ‘Three Kings’ – are developing a script for a movie about Father Stu Long, an American football-playing priest who suffered from a muscular degenerative disease and died in 2014 aged 50.
Speaking in a Facebook Live, Wahlberg said: “David O. Russell and I right now are working on developing a script on Father Stu, who was an amazing priest from Helena, Montana.
“He was a very tough guy who was a fighter, a football player… anything but a spiritual guy.
“He found his calling, and decided, after falling in love with a woman, that he wanted to become a priest.
“He suffered from this horrible muscular degenerative disease but was still ordained as a priest and passed away, but not before he was able to inspire thousands upon thousands of people.”
It is not known how far along the project is but Wahlberg has clearly done plenty of research on Stu as he continued to roll out information about the priest.
He added: “To tell you a little more about Father Stuart Long, he played football for the Bruins and continued the sport at Carroll College, according to the Helena Independent Record.
“After segwaying into boxing, his planned career as a prizefighter was squashed when he had to get reconstructive jaw surgery. He eventually moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in movies.
“He performed in comedy clubs and filmed commercials, but he left that too, finding the industry seedy.
“He suffered a motorcycle accident when he was driving to work at the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena, and the accident set him on the religious path.”
Stu used to help people in poor New York City neighbourhoods but returned to Helena when he was left wheelchair-bound due to his disease in 2010.

Val Stones leaves Great British Bake Off

OHMYGOSSIP — Val Stones was left in tears by Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood’s decision to send her home on Wednesday’s (21.09.16) episode of ‘Great British Bake Off’.
The 66-year-old former headteacher broke down when it was revealed that she was to leave the competition but she insisted she wasn’t upset by the decision.
She said: “I’m not unhappy. I had a great time with some great people – and I didn’t expect it. I didn’t expect to ever get here, never mind be on it.
“When you bake, you always bake for a reason – because you’re giving something to people.
“You’re giving it to people so you do the best you can and make bake with love. Whenever I make anything, I stir love into it and I knead love into it so when I present it, it’s special.
“Of course I was disappointed but you have to just go with it. Somebody has got to have a soggy bottom, so it might as well be me.”
And although Paul and Mary were sad to see Val leave the BBC show, they believe they made the right decision.
Paul said: “I loved Val, she is a great baker without a shadow of a doubt. But this just was not her week.”
Mary added: “When I chatted to her afterwards, she said, ‘I’ve so enjoyed being here but that’s as far as I can go.'”
Meanwhile, Candice Brown was awarded Star Baker during week five, which saw the contestants tackle pastry.
They were tasked with creating breakfast pastries, Bakewell Tarts and 48 filled filo pastry Amuse-Bouches for the Showstopper Challenge.

Stephanie Davis' baby might arrive around Christmas

OHMYGOSSIP — Stephanie Davis has been told her baby may arrive around Christmas.
The 23-year-old actress is currently five months into her pregnancy but a psychic she saw last week warned her that she may not make her due date in January because her little one is already measuring bigger than he should be for how far along she is in the second trimester.
Writing in her column for OK! Online: “I had my antenatal last week and my little man is doing just fine. His heartbeat is a bit too fast but the midwife said that’s probably because he’s so active. They checked it again before we left and everything is fine.
“They will need to keep an eye on him and me though as my belly is bigger than it should be. I’ll have growth scans right up until December.
“However, my friend saw a psychic the other day and they told her I wouldn’t make my due date. I would be made up with a Christmas baby! It would be like the best present ever.”
The former ‘Hollyoaks’ star hasn’t had the easiest pregnancy so far she she’s been riddled with morning sickness and is now battling with night terrors to the point she wakes up in a panic in the middle of the night.
She explained: “I don’t know what’s happening but I’ve been having the worse night terrors ever! They’re horrendous!
“I’m great in the day but when I go to sleep I’m reliving everything and I’m waking up in panic. The other night my legs were gone and I was holding on to the side, my mum had to come and rub my back.
I’ve heard your dreams are move vivid when you’re pregnant too so I bet that’s not helping. It’s probably why I’ve been extra tired in the day.”

Kate Wright will 'never' date another TOWIE co-star again

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Wright will “never” date another co-star again.
The 24-year-old ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ star doesn’t want to have another romance with “anyone” on the popular ITVBe programme or any other television show ever again after her relationship with Dan Edgar, who she dated for six years, crumbled in July this year in front of the cameras.
Speaking to the Mail Online about potential suitors, the blonde beauty said: “After being with Dan, I would never ever get with anyone else on the show. Dan was the love of my life and that didn’t work, so what is gonna bloody work?
“I’d never be with anyone on a TV show in a million years. It’s impossible to be friendly with an ex I think, unless you’re with other people and you’ve moved on.”
And Kate – who had allegedly enjoyed a few dates with a mystery mutual friend of Dan’s in the last series – hasn’t had any male attention since being on ‘The Only Way Is Essex’, although she is still very much in love with her ex.
She explained: “Since I’ve been on ‘TOWIE’ no boy has tried it with me. I don’t think I’m intimidating, I’m friendly, but no one tries with me.
“We’re not over each other, we both love each other.
“[But] I’m single. I’m enjoying single life. I’ve been to Ibiza. I’ve been to Dubai. I’m going gym every day. I’m doing me.”
And the beauty – who joined the Essex-based show last year – is adamant she never joined the programme to be famous and only agreed to it because of her former beau.
She explained: “I don’t want to be in the limelight. I went on ‘TOWIE’ because I loved Dan and Dan went on ‘TOWIE’. I didn’t go on because I wanted to be famous.”

Andrea McLean to have hysterectomy

OHMYGOSSIP — Andrea McLean has decided to have a hysterectomy.
The ‘Loose Women’ panellist is set to take a month off work from Thursday (22.09.16) in order to have the invasive operation, which removes all or part of the womb, after doctors recommended it for “personal reasons.”
Speaking on the lunchtime show on Wednesday (21.09.16), she said: “Just to let you know, don’t worry if you don’t see me for the next month or so. I’m actually going to be at home convalescing, as I’m having a hysterectomy tomorrow. Lots of personal reasons for that, I did go to the doctors about it.”
The 46-year-old journalist – who has son Finlay, 15, with her ex-husband Nick Green and daughter Amy, nine, with her estranged spouse Steve Toms – had a cancer scare in 2012 when she found a large lump in her right breast.
Andrea initially decided to ignore the change in her bosom but was persuaded to see a doctor by one of her friends.
Her GP arranged a mammogram and it was later revealed that the lump was just harmless “fibrous tissue.”
The television presenter has always been very open about her health battles in the past and admitted earlier this year that she was “gripped” by postnatal depression for two years shortly after her daughter Amy’s birth in 2006.
She said: “I had postnatal depression for two years before I finally went to the doctors. It’s something I suffered from and hid. Now what’s really interesting is we’re all really talkative women and I’ve been working on this show for nine years now and I had it while I was on this show.
“A lot of people obviously see me and I’ve been in hair and makeup and I’m all professional and I do my job smiling, interacting, being interested and engaged but what I was doing was literally sobbing all the way home.”
A hysterectomy is a major operation carried out to treat conditions that affect the female reproductive system.
After all or part of the womb has been removed, the woman will no longer be able to have children naturally.

Phillip Schofield risks life filming bee segment

OHMYGOSSIP — Phillip Schofield risked his life by filming a segment about bees on ‘This Morning’ on Wednesday (21.09.16).
The 54-year-old presenter is allergic to bee and wasps’ sting and put on a brave face as he and co-host Holly Willoughby donned beekeeper suits to catch some honey.
Phillip joked that Holly, 35, would have to save his life by injecting his bottom with an adrenaline pen to stop him going into anaphylactic shock if he happened to get stung.
Pointing to his backside, he laughed: “You’ll have to inject me in the … I can’t do it myself if I have a reaction. Just promise me one thing, you won’t do it on tele.”
Phillip admitted that he felt a “wuss” because everyone else apart from him and Holly didn’t wear the protective clothing.
Speaking on the ITV brunch-time show, he said: “I feel a wuss. Look at the crew, they’re not even wearing suits.”
Earlier this year, Phillip revealed he has developed a “serious” hypersensitivity to the insects.
He said: “I’m allergic to wasps and bee stings.”
Phillip’s allergy is so bad that he now has to carry an Epipen – a medical device used for injecting a measured dose of adrenaline – in case he gets struck by the insects and goes into a potentially fatal anaphylactic shock.
The host explained at the time: “If I get stung, I fall over and shake a lot, I have to carry an Epipen now. It’s quite serious.”

Lupita Nyong'o 'so excited' for Black Panther

OHMYGOSSIP — Lupita Nyong’o is “so excited” to find out what her body “can do” when she is filming ‘Black Panther’.
The 33-year-old actress is to star as Nakia in the upcoming Marvel superhero movie, and she is looking forward to teaming up with director Ryan Coogler for the ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ sequel.
She said: “I am so excited, I can’t wait to kick ass and learn all things that my body can do.
“I’m so looking forward to working with Ryan Coogler, who is such an incredible human being, and the cast. So it’s going to be fun.”
Nyong’o’s character will be the love interest for Black Panther/T’Challa – who is played by Chadwick Boseman, who portrayed the role in ‘Captain America: Civil War’ – and in the comics Nakia grows up dreaming of marrying the titular character.
After voicing the character of Raksha in ‘The Jungle Book’ earlier this year and starring as Maz Kanata in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ last year, plus signing up for Marvel’s ‘Black Panther’, she joked it feels as though she is tied down to only Disney and Marvel movies in her career.
When asked if she has an exclusive contract with the companies, she told Collider: “It feels like it, it sure does feel like it. And I am loving the contract.”
Nyong’o is to reprise her role as Maz in next year’s ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’, but is yet to start filming the part.
When asked what it was like working with director Rian Johnson, she added: “I haven’t worked with him yet, we’re yet to shoot. That’s in my future.”

Filming was due to begin in the South American country next Monday (26.09.16) but now Ferrell is out studio Protagonist Pictures is desperately looking for a replacement.
No official reason for Ferrell’s departure is yet to be given.
Some cast and crew are already in Colombia and are awaiting news on what is happening to the shooting schedule.
‘Superbad’ star Michael Cera and ‘Capote’ actress Catherine Keener are to star in the movie which is being directed by Sebastian Silva – who has also penned the screenplay.
Following Ferrell’s exit, the producers are now working as quickly as possible to fill his role and intend to move forward with production as soon as possible.
The ‘Anchorman’ star’s departure from ‘Captain Dad’ is the second big screen project he has walked away from in 2016.

Mary Berry to host Food Network Christmas show

OHMYGOSSIP — Mary Berry is to host a new Christmas special show with James Martin for the Food Network Channel.
The 81-year-old presenter’s first job since ‘The Great British Bake Off’ will see her reunite with the former ‘Saturday Kitchen’ presenter for the new show as the 44-year-old hunk prepares his favourite dishes for guests including Brian Turner and Jennie McAlpine.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Everyone is waiting to hear which way Mary is going to go with ‘…Bake Off’, whether she’ll make the jump over to Channel 4.
“She’s keeping herself busy in the meantime by helping out James, who is a long time pal. It’s a canny move from Food Network to announce this while is wondering.”
Mary will also be co-hosting a ‘…Bake Off’ Christmas special with her co-judge Paul Hollywood, which will feature highlights from the show, which first aired in 2010.
It comes after it was reported Mary and Paul were given a golden handshake of £1million each if they stay on the baking show following its move from BBC to Channel 4.
A source said: “It’s turning into a bitter turf war between rival TV stations – but at this rate it’s the viewers who’ll miss out. Fans just want the series to stay the same as much as possible – that obviously means keeping Paul and Mary at the centre of it. It’s a shame some at the BBC seem to be looking for a way to sabotage that.
“Many of us feel it’s foul play and not the intended function of licence payers’ cash.”
The ‘Great British Bake Off’ has been the hot topic of conversation as it was recently announced that it will shift across to Channel 4 after the BBC failed to offer a big enough sum to Love Productions, the makers of the programme, and its rival broadcaster quickly swooped in with a bigger deal.
The BBC offered the company an estimated £15 million per year – double the current contract – in a bid to keep hold of the show, but producers refused to accept offers below £25 million.
Channel 4 quickly waded in with a three-year deal – worth a reported £75 million – after talks between the BBC and Love Productions broke down early last week.

Teen Mom UK to launch in November

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Teen Mom UK’ is set to launch in November.
The controversial documentary-type show, which became a hit in the US seven years ago, will travel across the pond as five teenage mothers from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland let the cameras into their lives while they deal with the highs and lows of pregnancy, birth and motherhood.
The programme will capture every moment of the expectant teenagers’ lives – from breakups, to finding the work/life balance, battling with postnatal depression and attempting to juggle a social life while caring for a newborn baby.
It’s believed the forthcoming show, which has been slammed by critics, will educate teens on the reality of having a baby.
‘Teen Mom’ first launched in 2009 in America as the spin off of the popular ’16 and Pregnant’, which also debuted in 2009.
It followed three generations of teenage mothers and has been responsible for making Farrah Abraham a global name.
The gritty series came to an halt in 2012 but was revived last year and has since run for two more series.
Meanwhile, it’s not yet known if bosses have found the five teenage mothers for the UK version of the show.
‘Teen Mom UK’ will hit television screens across the nation on November 2 on MTV.

Ross Kemp wants to do more EastEnders

OHMYGOSSIP — Ross Kemp wants to do more scenes for ‘EastEnders’.
The 52-year-old actor reprised his role as bad boy Grant Mitchell in the long-running soap earlier this year and, although he still wants to focus on his documentaries, he’d still like to make cameo appearances in the show every now and then.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’ on Wednesday (21.09.16), he said: “Yeah of course I would [like to do more scenes for the soap], yeah, why not. If I got the opportunity to make documentaries and to act, why not do both?”
However, Ross – who has appeared in the programme on and off since 1990 – was “nervous” about reprising his hard man part.
He explained: “I was quite nervous going back actually, there was a bit more expectation.
“When I first started, when I was 25 years old, a long time ago, no expectation. Now, you’ve hopefully got something to live up to.”
However, Ross did thoroughly enjoy going back to his old stomping ground but found it a little surreal seeing as he’d just finished shooting his TV series ‘Ross Kemp: Extreme World’ in Mongolia a few weeks before.
He said: “I loved going back [to ‘EastEnders’]. They say a change is as good as a break and one moment I was in Mongolia going down a coal mine meeting Nazis and then three days later I was in the dressing room at Elstree [where the soap is filmed].”
Meanwhile, Ross may be keen to shoot scenes for ‘EastEnders’ but he’d also like to land a role in a drama.
He said recently: “If someone offered me a lovely part in a nice drama, I’d do it without a shadow of a doubt. As long as it didn’t interrupt my documentary work.”

Matthew Wolfenden worried eyebrows won't grow back

OHMYGOSSIP — Matthew Wolfenden is worried his eyebrows won’t grow back after he shaved them off for his gripping cancer storyline in ‘Emmerdale’.
The 36-year-old actor was forced to chop of his hair, get rid of his beard and wax off his eyebrows six months ago after his alter ego David Metcalfe – a role he’s played on the soap for 10 years – was diagnosed with testicular cancer and went through chemotherapy.
But he has admitted, although he wanted to make the devastating storyline as real as possible, he was concerned he’ll be hairless forever afterwards.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’ on Wednesday (21.09.16), he said: “I’d heard horror stories from people who’d had their eyebrows shaved off like in drunken stupors at university and they’d never grown back. They’re coming through — if not, I’ll just get them tattooed back on.”
However, even if his hair does grow back over the next coming months, David may have to rock the look for another 10 years as he’s just got a new passport.
He explained: “I had to have a new passport done.
“So for ten years now I’ve got that picture [with shaved head and eyebrows] on my passport. I know, for ten years and that’s genuinely my passport — I’ve got it with me today so you could take a photo. I might have to lose it at some point and get a new one!”
And, although he’s happy with the hairless look for the time being, his fiancée Charley Webb, with whom he has sons Buster, six, and Bowie, 20 months, isn’t completely sold on his new appearance.
He said: “She quite liked the bald head… It’s when the stubble and eyebrows came off and everything came off.
“It’s really striking once your eyebrows come off. You don’t look like you anymore, a real change to your face — she wasn’t too keen on that!”

Charlie Sheen to star in Mad Families

OHMYGOSSIP — Charlie Sheen is to star in ‘Mad Families’.
The former ‘Two and a Half Men’ actor will also executive produce the comedy, in which he will play Charlie Jones, who is described as a “loveable man-child with a heart of gold and a unique way of looking at the world”.
The streaming movie will also feature Leah Remini, Naya Rivera and Finesse Mitchell, and centres on a camping trip over the Fourth of July weekend.
Juan Gabriel Pareja, Charlotte McKinney, Chris Mulkey, Clint Howard, Chanel Iman, Barry Shabaka Henley, Lil Rel Howery, Tiffany Haddish, Efren Ramirez and Danny Mora.
Three families – one Hispanic, one African American, one Caucasian – share the same camping space but none of them will volunteer to vacate the site, leading to them staging a series of competitions to determine a winner.
Production on the movie – which has been written by David Spade and Fred Wolf – began in Los Angeles last week, but no release date has yet been set.
The film is the second venture between Wolf and Sony’s digital platform Crackle, as the writer also penned and directed ‘Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser’ for the network.
Eric Berger, Eexecutive Vice President of digital networks at Sony Pictures Television and General Manager at Crackle, said: “It’s great to be back in business with Fred, and to have Charlie on board. The combination of Fred’s unique comedic voice and Charlie’s sharp wit and gift for physical humour is sure to be ‘winning.’ Original movies are a key component of our ongoing programming strategy and ‘Mad Families’ is a great fit for our viewers.”

Simon Cowell to create Bake Off rival

OHMYGOSSIP — Simon Cowell wants to create a ‘Great British Bake Off’ replacement for the BBC.
The 56-year-old star has an idea for “a new bread show”, and he’s willing to sell the broadcaster the rights to the programme “for life” after the corporation lost out on ‘GBBO’ to Channel 4.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, Simon said: “I am open for business and I have got an idea for a new bread show, which involves cakes and innuendos and the BBC can have the contract for life.”
Despite Simon being a long-term rival to the BBC – his talent shows ‘X Factor’ and ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ both air on ITV – he has sympathy for the bosses after they lost the rights to the baking show.
Last week, the Love Productions – the company who produce ‘Great British Bake Off’ – decided to leave the BBC behind when they signed a lucrative £75 million, three-year deal with Channel 4 to air ‘Bake Off’.
Simon, on the other hand, chose to remain loyal to his broadcaster last week when he signed a deal to keep both his UK talent shows on ITV until 2019, and he thinks Love Productions have made an error.
He said: “Personally I think it is a mistake. I just do. I feel bad for the BBC, because they launched the format and it must be incredibly frustrating when you are in that position and you have got a huge hit but you can’t compete.
“But I get the reasons why you can’t compete.”
Channel 4’s ‘Great British Bake Off’ reign will begin with a celebrity special in 2017.
