Laura Whitmore lands theatre role

OHMYGOSSIP — Laura Whitmore has landed a theatre role in ‘Not Dead Enough’.
The 31-year-old presenter is to star in the touring play by top-selling author Peter James, which will have its premiere at the Orchard Theatre in Dartford on January 25, before hitting theatres up and down the UK.
It looks set to be the blonde beauty’s first job lined up after she finishes competing on BBC One’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, which wraps up in December.
The Irish presenter has a background in drama having studied at the Leinster School of Music and Drama in her homeland of Dublin, Ireland.
The former MTV presenter has always had a passion for acting and can’t wait to get started.
She said: “I studied drama and played some great roles, including Lady Macbeth and Annie in All My Sons.
“I have been waiting a long time to return to acting and for a great role like this to come along, so I can’t wait to get on stage in Dublin with ‘Not Dead Enough.'”
Meanwhile, Laura – who is paired with professional dancer Giovanni Pernice on the ballroom and latin show – has been feeling the pressure ahead of the live shows beginning on the contest this weekend.
She recently: “This week we are LIVE! Restless nights, waking up in the middle of the night, protrusive sweating, swollen ankles… and the realisation that I’m going to have to dance with my partner in front of 12 million people for the first time! No pressure.”
And Laura is finding things particularly tricky because not only has she got this weekend’s choreography to worry about, she’s also preparing for next week’s dance too.
She continued in her blog for Glamour online: “I’ve spent the last 10 days training with Giovanni and we were told our second dance this week (GOOD NEWS: everyone gets through this weekend thank god. So that’s something!)
“But that means now I’ve two dances, that are VERY different, occupying my brain. This equates to even more sweating and sleepless nights.”

Davina McCall is amazed stars still do The Jump

OHMYGOSSIP — Davina McCall is “amazed” celebrities still want to compete on ‘The Jump’.
The future of the Channel 4 winter sports show has been hanging in the balance since eight celebrities were seriously injured in the last series of the programme, but she has admitted it’ll continue on screens all the time dare-devil stars still want to sign up for the series.
Speaking on Saturday’s (23.09.16) episode of ‘The Jonathan Ross Show’, the host said: “I was amazed because I didn’t think we’d be able to get people back on it but apparently people still want to do the show which is great. They’re amazing.”
And, although the 48-year-old presenter hates seeing people hurt themselves on the slopes, she believes the team behind the show give the “best care” and celebrities aren’t forced to partake.
Asked if she worries participants will badly injure themselves, she said: “It was a bit like ‘Don’t Try This at Home’. I really worried about that as well … All I can say is that they’re given the best care and they are taught by the best teachers and love bombed for the entire time they’re there. And they’re willing, they want to do it, we’re not forcing them out there.”
The third series of the show, which finished in March, saw Olympic gymnast Beth Tweddle break her back after she collided with a barrier and ‘Made in Chelsea’ star Mark-Francis Vandelli fracture his ankle in training, while other stars dislocated their shoulders and sprained their elbows.
However, despite being stricken with injuries, the extreme sport show will return next year.
A source previously said: “For good and bad reasons ‘The Jump ‘was one of the most talked about shows on television last year. It’s the only reality show of its kind – and it gives it something else compared to other shows.
“The uncertainty and the occasional injury make it all the more interesting. An official announcement will come in due course, but from Channel 4’s point of view it’s a done deal.”
‘The Jonathan Ross Show’ airs on Saturday (24.09.16) at 10.20pm on ITV.

Rhys Darby joins Jumanji cast

OHMYGOSSIP — Rhys Darby has joined the cast of ‘Jumanji’.
The 42-year-old actor will feature in the remake of the 1995 film of the same name, which starred the late Robin Williams, taking on the role of a character named Nigel.
Also announced to be joining the cast is 17-year-old Morgan Turner, who has scored an as yet unknown role in the production.
The former ‘Yes Man’ actor joins a cast that is already littered with stars such as ‘School of Rock’s Jack Black, ‘Doctor Who’ star Karen Gillan, and former Jonas Brother Nick Jonas. Dwayne Johnson is playing the part of Dr. Bravestone, and in addition to his starring role he is also producing the movie that is currently filming in Hawaii.
The news of the casting announcement comes after the semi-retired professional wrestler took to Instagram last week to share a video of the cast and crew getting blessed by a Hawaiian priest before filming took place.
The caption on the video read: “Before we embark our #JUMANJI journey here in Hawaii, we gathered our entire cast (here with me are Jack Black, Kevin Hart, our director Jake Kasdan and Karen Gillian) and crew together as our Hawaiian Kahu (priest) Cordell Keka blesses our film with powerful aloha spirit of laughter, enjoyment and love. (sic)”
The ‘Baywatch’ star also commented on how it takes an “amazing crew of everyone” to make a movie shoot run smoothly, something which Rhys and Morgan will now contribute to as they step onto the set.
Dwayne wrote: Our Kahu eloquently spoke and reminded us that even though our faces are the ones on screen, it takes an AMAZING CREW OF EVERYONE to make this movie work. And when we get tired from long work hours to always remember the joy, laughter and fun our movie will bring to families around the world. (sic)”

Bill Hader to voice Alpha 5 in Power Rangers movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Bill Hader is to voice Alpha 5 in the new ‘Power Rangers’ movie.
Lionsgate and Saban have confirmed the 38-year-old actor – who has voiced characters for movies including Pixar’s ‘Inside Out’ – will portray the robot in the reboot of the Mighty Morphin Powers Rangers TV show, which first hit screens in 1993 and went on for 20 years.
A post on the official ‘Power Rangers’ movie twitter account, revealed: “Aye-yi-yi! Welcome #BillHader as #Alpha5 to the #PowerRangersMovie – Coming in 2017. (sic)”
The ‘Sausage Party’ voice actor joins an A-List cast including Elizabeth Banks and Bryan Cranston who play Rita Repulsa and Zordon, respectively, in the eagerly-anticipated film.
It comes after Lionsgate revealed it could make up to “six or seven” more ‘Power Rangers’ movies.
The characters set to hit the big screen next March but before the blockbuster is unleashed its filmmakers are already thinking about making further sequels.
Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer said: “We are really, really excited about the ‘Power Rangers’ movie. We could see doing five or six or seven.”
The ‘Power Rangers’ movie re-imagines the origins of the action heroes – a group of high school kids given extraterrestrial powers who unite to save the world.
Feltheimer said there had been a positive reaction to the costume reveal – with characters empowering suits of translucent armour that crystallises around the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ bodies – which indicated audience interest.
Lionsgate has teamed up with Dean Israelite (‘Project Almanac’) to direct the film and has cast five young actors to star – American singer/actress Becky G as the Yellow Ranger, Ludi Lin (‘Monster Hunt’) as the Black Ranger, Naomi Scott (‘Terra Nova’) as the Pink Ranger, Dacre Montgomery (‘Bertrand the Terrible’) as the Red Ranger and RJ Cyler (‘Me and Earl and the Dying Girl’) as the Blue Ranger.

Heavy D is engaged

OHMYGOSSIP — Heavy D has proposed live on radio after just a month of dating.
The ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ star – whose real name is Collin Newell – stunned girlfriend Bryony Ann Harris when he got down on one knee and popped the question during a chat on Fubar radio on Thursday (22.09.16) evening.
While they have only been together a month, the couple – who recently got matching tattoos – had been discussing marriage before the 43-year-old TV star made their engagement official.
Bryony, 21, said: “We’ve been talking about this a lot, but I didn’t think you’d actually do it!”
Heavy D said: “It’s a yes! Boom!”
And the pair admitted they are “obsessed” with one another, even though they fall out frequently.
Heavy D told hosts Stephen Leng and Lizzie Cundy: “[Love] is so much in the air, it’s beautiful”.
Bryony added: “We’re obsessed with each other, we’re always together, two days off and two days on.”
Her new fiance added: “I don’t mess about.”
The couple planned to celebrate their engagement with a meal at Nandos, as that was where they had their first date, and are also going to throw a party.
Bryony explained: “We’re going to have a crazy-golf folk festival with Guinness tents at our engagement party.”
The couple got together when the brunette tweeted the ‘Storage Hunters’ star to say she fancied him “more than she should”, prompting Heavy D to ask for her phone number.
And it seems Bryony has a jealous streak.
She laughed: “You should have seen me in the club, I pushed this girl who was dancing with him.”

Adam Driver won't relax on the Star Wars set

OHMYGOSSIP — Adam Driver believes the “stakes are even higher” for the new ‘Star Wars’ movie.
The 32-year-old actor is reprising his role as Kylo Ren in ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ but isn’t ready to relax after the success of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’.
He said: “The stakes are even higher, I think. No one’s relaxing. Well, I can’t speak for everyone, but I didn’t feel more relaxed as if we’d accomplished anything.
“It’s one more reason we have to redouble our efforts and just make it even more specific, but then you also have to let it all go and not think too much while you’re working on it.”
The ‘Girls’ star insists he has taken a similar approach to making the ‘Star Wars’ movies as he does to any film but admits he was initially “overwhelmed” by the scale of the science fiction franchise.
He added to Collider.com: “I remember being very overwhelmed by the idea of working on something [like this] where the scale was so big. I remember calling J.J. and saying, ‘I’m overwhelmed by the machine of it’ and him basically saying that we’ll break it down into pieces and solve it in these little moments. One moment will lead to this moment and then that moment will lead to this moment and at the end of it hopefully we’ll have a movie …
“The scale is bigger, and obviously the catering and the trailers are better when compared to a smaller independent movie, but that doesn’t matter. You’re not watching a movie thinking about how they had really great trailers, or about their catering, you’re trying to follow these moments and follow these characters. So working on it, even though the scale is different, the approach to making it is the exact same.”

Mark Wahlberg's fire nerves

OHMYGOSSIP — Mark Wahlberg didn’t feel comfortable being set on fire for his new movie.
The 45-year-old actor and his co-star Dylan O’Brien had to be engulfed in flames for his role in ‘Deepwater Horizon’ and he admits it was a bit of a nerve-wracking experience.
He said: “What was really sketchy is when they lit me and Dylan O’Brien on fire. They lit us on fire, and I didn’t feel too comfortable with that.
“They put gel and stuff on you, but then, you know, they put some other fluid on you and then they light you on fire and then they walk away. And then the other guy goes and grabs his coffee and then he’s like, ‘Hold on a second. We ready to roll?’ And I’m like, ‘Dude, I’m on fire. Roll!'”
And Mark felt he had a duty to make the movie as “realistic as possible” as he wanted to pay homage to Mike Williams, who was actually involved in the terrible environmental disaster.
He told Good Morning America: “You always want to step up in movies like this or in ‘Lone Survivor,’ where the actual guys are there and they went through it in real life. So, you’ve got to try to make it as realistic as possible …
“Mike’s somebody that I admire for many reasons, but he hates the term, ‘hero’. He says, ‘I was just doing my job. Doing what any of my other brothers would have done.’ He’s a pretty remarkable guy and I asked him to come and consult on the movie because we wanted to make it accurate and authentic. And we wanted to make sure he was there to make sure we were getting it right.”

Ryan Thomas' daughter gets modelling job

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Thomas’ daughter has become a model.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ actor and his ex-girlfriend Tina O’Brien – who plays Sarah Platt in the ITV soap – are thrilled their little seven-year-old girl Scarlett has become the new face of a kidswear range with the fashion brand Boohoo.
Tina said: “I’m really proud of Scarlett and everything she has achieved. Scarlett is represented by my casting agency The Drama MOB Management, which I own with my friend Esther and has cast for an Asda, Morrisons and Bensons for Beds TV commercial this year and her most recent job has been the two modelling shoots for Boohoo. She recently performed at The Lowry Theatre with our drama school and she loved it.”
Boohoo approached Scarlett earlier this year because the online fashion firm have a close connection with Ryan.
Carol Kane, joint CEO of Boohoo, said: “Ryan Thomas is a lifelong friend of the brand and so we were delighted to be able to make Scarlett Thomas the face of the girlswear collection. She looks beautiful in all the pieces.”
And it’s hardly surprising Scarlett has a nature flare for modelling and acting considering her parents’ talents.
The 32-year-old actor – who was known for playing Jason Grimshaw, the ex-husband of Sarah, in the show – met Tina on the set of ‘Coronation Street’ in 2003 and dated her for six years until they ended their relationship in 2009.
Tina is now in a relationship with Adam Crofts, with whom she has 23-month-old son Beau, while Ryan has just split from his marketing consultant girlfriend Lana Martin.

Vicky Pattison, Joe Swash, Stacey Solomon and Chris Ramsey to present I'm A Celebrity: Extra Camp

OHMYGOSSIP — Vicky Pattison, Joe Swash, Stacey Solomon and Chris Ramsey will present the ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ spin-off show.
The foursome will head Down Under later this year to host the newly named ‘I’m A Celebrity: Extra Camp’ as they’re joined by famous guests and dish the dirt on the stars fighting for survival in the jungle.
Joe – who has presented the original spin-off ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! NOW!’ since 2009 – said of the new line up: “‘I’m A Celebrity…’ is always my most favourite time of the year.
“I cannot wait to be back at my second home with a new gang of people. As always I’m sure this series will be the best one yet.”
And this year will no doubt be one to remember as the former ‘EastEnders’ star will be joined on the panel by his girlfriend Stacey, whom he’s been dating since early January, this time around.
And they’ve both got plenty of experience when it comes to jungle life as Joe won the show in 2008, while Stacey took the title in 2010.
Chris, on the other hand, has never stepped foot in the jungle before and is thrilled bosses have decided to put him on the spin-off rather than the main show where he’ll have to take part in gruelling trials.
Chris, who is a well-know comedian from South Shields, said of the role: “I’m a big fan of ‘I’m A Celeb…’, I watch and talk about it every year, so it will be a delight to do it as a job this year in Australia! And it’s an absolute bonus that I won’t have to taste kangaroo anus.”
Vicky – who was crowned Queen of the Jungle last year – has been the hot favourite to take over as host since Laura Whitmore, who fronted the spin-off for five years, quit as presenter a few months ago.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Vicky made no secret of the fact that she would love to replace Laura. But while she was always the front- runner, ITV took their time with the decision.
“It’s only very recently that they have said they want her. Now all that remains is the formality of signing the contract. Vicky is beyond excited and can’t wait to get started.”

Paul Hollywood to stay on Great British Bake Off

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Hollywood will stay with the ‘Great British Bake Off’ when it moves to Channel 4.
The 50-year-old silverfox – who has been a part of the popular baking programme since 2010 – has decided to remain a judge on the cooking programme when it shifts across from the BBC to its rival channel next year after he was reportedly offered a mega deal.
He said: “Since I was a kid, baking has been part of my life. The seven series inside the tent have created some great memories.
“Best of all, I have felt so pleased to experience other people getting the baking bug, just as I did when my dad helped me make my first loaf.
“The ‘Great British Bake Off’ has brought baking to the nation and we’ve seen people from all walks of life and backgrounds, experience the highs and lows of competition, and more importantly helping each other.
“It’s been a huge part of my life in the past few years and I just couldn’t turn my back on all that – the bakers themselves, the bakes, the team that makes it, and of course the tent, the bunting, and who could forget… the squirrels. So I am delighted that I will be continuing as a judge when ‘…Bake Off’ moves to Channel 4.”
Paul’s decision to continue with the programme comes just minutes after his co-judge Mary Berry announced she was quitting ‘GBBO’ out of “loyalty” to the BBC.
She said: “My decision to stay with the BBC is out of loyalty to them, as they have nurtured me, and the show, that was a unique and brilliant format from day one.
“What a privilege and honour it has been to be part of seven years of magic in a tent. I am just sad for the audience who may not be ready for change.”
The future of the programme has been hanging in limbo since it was revealed Channel 4 had bought the rights to the show for an estimated $75 million last week.
Channel 4 reportedly waded in with the three-year mega money deal after they found out negotiations between the BBC and Love Productions – the makers of the programme – had broken down.
The show’s hosts Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc announced they would no longer front the show after they found out the BBC had lost its rights to the popular series.

Mary Berry quits Great British Bake Off

OHMYGOSSIP — Mary Berry has quit the ‘Great British Bake Off’.
The 81-year-old baking queen – who has judged on the show since it first hit screens on the BBC in 2010 – has decided to step away from the show following its move to Channel 4.
She said: “My decision to stay with the BBC is out of loyalty to them, as they have nurtured me, and the show, that was a unique and brilliant format from day one.
“What a privilege and honour it has been to be part of seven years of magic in a tent. I am just sad for the audience who may not be ready for change, I hope they understand my decision.”
Mary’s decision to turn her back on the programme comes just a week after hosts Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc announced they would no longer front the show after Channel 4 bought the rights to the series as part of a mega deal.
It’s not yet known if Mary’s co-judge Paul Hollywood will follow suit but it’s believed he’s been in negotiations with Channel 4.
Mary explained: “The ‘…Bake Off’ family – Paul, Mel and Sue have given me so much joy and laughter. I wish the programme, crew and future bakers every possible success and I am so very sad not to be a part of it.”
The 50-year-old silverfox – who has also featured as a judge on the programme since 2010 – is also in talks with the BBC about fronting a new culinary series with them.
A source said recently: “Paul’s definitely not made up his mind yet on what to do and is looking at what’s the best deal for him. Channel 4 are desperate to secure him and provide fans with some continuity from the original line-up.”
The ‘Great British Bake Off’ was thrown into chaos last week when it was revealed the BBC had failed to offer a big enough sum to Love Productions, the makers of the programme, to keep the show.
The BBC offered the company an estimated £15 million per year – double the current contract – in a bid to keep hold of the show, but producers refused to accept offers below £25 million.
Channel 4 quickly waded in with a three-year deal – worth a reported £75 million – after talks between the BBC and Love Productions broke down early last week.

Lisa Snowdon to appear on I'm A Celebrity…

OHMYGOSSIP — Lisa Snowdon is set to join this year’s ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’.
The 44-year-old fashion model, who once dated George Clooney, has reportedly agreed to slip into her jungle gear and head out to the Australian outback later this year for the forthcoming series of the creepy-crawly show.
Insiders close to the star told the Daily Star newspaper: “Lisa is a great signing for us. She will certainly look great in a bikini in that jungle shower. She’s very much an action girl and she will have plenty of stories to tell.”
Bosses are hoping the brunette beauty – who is friends with Brad Pitt and Matt Damon – will spill the beans on some of her relationships and celebrity pals.
Although the official line up is yet to be confirmed by ITV, it’s believed Lisa will rubbed shoulders with the likes of Ayda Field – the wife of Robbie Williams – Olympic double gold medal boxer Nicola Adams and ‘Gogglebox’ star Scarlett Moffatt.
Craig Charles – who spent four days in the jungle two years ago when his stint was cut short after his brother Dean tragically died from a heart attack – is reportedly in talks to head back to Australia and bosses are prepared to offer him a mega deal.
A source said recently: “The producers are eager to get Craig back in the jungle after he had to sadly leave so early on in the run two years ago because of his brother’s death. He was a popular camp mate in the short time he was in and bosses know he would have been a great contestant if he’d stayed on the show.
“They know that he was enjoying getting into camp life but sadly, due to circumstances beyond his control, he was forced to leave and go home to his family. They wanted to get him back on the show last year but he was already committed to filming new episodes of BBC Two’s sci-fi comedy ‘Red Dwarf.’ ”
And the former ‘Coronation Street’ star may not be the only previous contestant to make a return to the outback as Spencer Matthews is also in the rumoured line up.
The ‘Made in Chelsea’ hunk joined the show last year but was forced to leave just a few days into his stint after producers found out he was taking steroids.

Dance Dance Dance to be filmed Amsterdam

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Dance Dance Dance’ will be filmed in Amsterdam.
The new ITV show is heading across to the Netherlands’ capital – known for its red-light district and marijuana coffee shops – over the next coming weeks to film the six-part series.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “It’s going to be a riot with all the cast being flown out to Amsterdam to film.
“But the contestants have been warned that they must be prepared for some hard work and not be lured by the temptations and bars of Amsterdam.”
The show, which will be a major competitor for the BBC’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, will see celebrities team up with their partner, a friend or a relative as they perform an iconic dance in the hope of impressing the tough-talking judging panel.
Former Westlife singer Kian Egan and his wife Jodi Albert, who currently plays Debbie Dean in ‘Hollyoaks’, are reportedly the first celebrity couple to sign up to the show.
Bosses are still trying to finalise the contestant line up but it’s thought Charlotte Crosby and Holly Hagan are holding talks with producers about taking part in the competition.
The insider explained: “Charlotte and Holly are also incredibly keen to do ‘Dance Dance Dance’, but are yet to confirm. It’s a six- week show so is less of a commitment than ‘Strictly…’ — which makes it a lot more appealing for them. Having said that, contestants are being told to start shaping up and the shows will be very tough to pull off.”
Ashley Banjo and Kimberly Wyatt – who both worked on Sky 1’s ‘Got to Dance’ from 2009 to 2014 – have already joined the judging panel and bosses of the show, which has had millions spent on it, are on the hunt for another two judges.

Karen Hardy's Strictly Come Dancing 'trial-run'

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ bosses are using Karen Hardy’s position as judge on the tour as a “trial-run” for Len Goodman’s role.
The 46-year-old professional ballroom dancer was confirmed as a panellist for the upcoming live arena event on Tuesday (20.09.16), and producers are said to be keen to see if she’s got what it takes to replace the outgoing judge on the TV series.
An insider said: “This is a huge statement in favour of Karen. The tour is massive and she will be in front of thousands of people giving her opinion.
“Len and Craig will be with her and she obviously knows what she’s talking about with her career as a dancer.
“The producers want to use this as a trial-run and will give her tips to see if she can handle the role.”
‘Strictly’ professional Anton du Beke, 50, has been the favourite to take over from Len, 72 – who is leaving at the end of the series after 12 years – but Karen’s appointment as a judge on the tour appears to have dented his chances of landing the coveted role.
The insider added to The Sun newspaper: “It’s now not looking food for Anton, but no final decision has been made yet on who will be Len’s replacement.”
This comes after Anton’s fellow professional dancer Trent Whiddon insisted it was a “done deal” that his co-star will get the job.
He said: “It isn’t official yet, but it may as well be – it’s long been virtually guaranteed that Anton will fill any gaps on the judging panel.
“He’s such a big part of the family and viewers love him, so BBC bosses know there’s no risk of it not working out. The time is right and it’s a done deal.”
A BBC spokesman said: “We are focusing on making Len’s last series the best yet.”
