Bratavio leave X Factor

OHMYGOSSIP — Bratavio have been voted off ‘The X Factor’.
The flamboyant duo – Ottavio Columbro and Bradley Hunt – failed to win over the judges in the sing-off against Saara Alto’s “world class” performance.
Only the pair’s own mentor, Louis Walsh, opted to save Bratavio, but giving his verdict he heaped praise on Saara.
He said: “The sing-off, Sara you were incredible, you were world class, it was one of the best sing-offs ever, but because I’m the mentor for the two boys, I have to send Saara home.”
Meanwhile, Nicole Scherzinger praised the duo for their “amazing” performance, but she and Sharon Osbourne felt they had to send them home.
Sharon said: “I love you guys but I’m afraid I’m going to have to send Bratavio home.”
Nicole added: “First of all, I didn’t even know you could sing that good so that was amazing Bratavio, you really sang for your lives up there, I’m really proud of you. Saara, that song is so difficult but you sang our faces off. The act I’m sending home is Bratavio.”
Straight-talking head judge Simon Cowell insisted there wasn’t any difficult choice to be made.
He said: “That was probably the craziest five minutes I’ve ever seen. I’m not even going to pretend here, if this was a horse race it was like a guinea pig versus a race horse, nice try guys, the act I’m sending home – obviously – is Bratavio.”
Speaking after the vote, Bratavio insisted they were “proud” to have come as far as they had.
Ottavio said: “We’re really proud, we’re thankful to everyone the judges, the producers, thank you for giving us this opportunity to follow our dreams.”
The first of the live vote saw a new feature unveiled, with host Dermot O’Leary initially revealing a bottom three which also featured Freddy Parker.
Viewers with the show’s official app were then given a short time to make a ‘lifeline vote’, which saved the hopeful from the sing-off.
It was also revealed on the show that next week’s theme will be Motown.

Tameka Empson voted off Strictly

OHMYGOSSIP — Tameka Empson has been voted off ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The ‘EastEnders’ actress and her professional partner Gorka Marquez found themselves in the bottom two against Laura Whitmore and Giovanni Pernice after failing to impress with their tango on Saturday (08.10.16) night, and following a dance-off, the judges opted to save the former ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! NOW’ presenter.
Before saving Laura, Craig admitted it was a “nightmare” having to choose between the couples.
He said: “This is a nightmare, I don’t feel like I’ve been in this position before, I can normally make a clear decision but both couples were extraordinary.”
His sentiments were echoed by his fellow judges, who agreed they were surprised to see both couples in the dance-off.
Bruno Tonioli said: “These girls are fantastic, you both shouldn’t be here. I think out of the two performances the stand-out one was from Laura and Giovanni.”
Len Goodman added: “As my colleagues have said, they both came out and really went for the dance. In my opinion, neither should be in the dance off but it’s the nature of the thing.
“I’ve got to go with the couple I felt did the more polished performance and that was Laura and Giovanni.”
Only Darcey Bussell chose to save Tameka and Gorka.
She said: “I marked them both exactly in the main show and seeing them again tonight they’ve both made an improvement, incredibly difficult to make a choice but for me, because it was a stronger focus and intent performance, I’m going to save Tameka and Gorka.”
The 39-year-old actress was “grateful” for her brief stint on the show, and also paid tribute to her dance partner.
She said: “It has been [brief]. I have enjoyed my time immensely, I really have. It’s lovely to be a part of it, I’m grateful so thank you…
“Gorka is such a lovely person, I think he is a great asset to the show, you have shown me so much passion, patience, motivation and I love you, I think you are fantastic.”
The show also included a performance from Michael Ball and Alfie Boe.

Keeley Hawes doesn't watch dramas

OHMYGOSSIP — Keeley Hawes never watches drama series.
The 40-year-old actress can next be seen in the second season of ‘The Missing’ but she never watched the 2014 run of the show as she prefers relaxing with a documentary as she feels too close to fictional sagas because of her own work.
She said: “I must admit I hadn’t seen [the first series] – watching drama is a busman’s holiday for me.
“You’ve usually already read the script or you know everyone in it.
“I tend to watch more documentaries. But once I was sent the script, it was one of those things that I just couldn’t stop reading, like ‘Line of Duty’. ”
Keeley admitted the heavy subject matter of ‘The Missing’ – in which she and her on-screen husband, who is played by David Morrissey, are reunited with their daughter after 11 years – took its toll, especially after her most recent work in ‘The Durrells’.
She said: “I came in thinking I was going to be like the cheerful Mrs. Durrell off-set.
“You have to be positive when you’re working on something like this, but it’s hard.
“It’s one of those jobs where the scenes are long, relentless and upsetting. We’ve just been filming funerals and cemeteries.”
The ‘Line of Duty’ actress was pleased to reunite with David on the show, after they previously worked together on ‘Our Mutual Friend’ in the late 1990s.
She told Closer magazine: “I’ve loved working with David Morrissey and the actors playing our children.
“David and I worked together on ‘Our Mutual Friend’ – we were both so little then.
“David is hilarious, I don’t think he’s done enough comedy over the years.”

Gavin Rossdale impressed Voice bosses

OHMYGOSSIP — Gavin Rossdale was offered a role on ‘The Voice UK’ immediately after his interview.
The 50-year-old rocker flew from Los Angeles to London to interview for the job and show bosses had made up their minds to hire him before he got back to LA.
Speaking to the Sunday Times Style magazine, he said: “I was already really panicked and stressed. Then this email came in. I interviewed on Skype, then went to London, and by the time I’d got back I’d got the gig. So quick! I think when they met me, they were expecting me to be tongue-tied and really difficult. But maybe I wasn’t. Maybe I was on a roll.”
Gavin’s daughter Daisy Lowe, 27, is currently competing on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and the pair are equally proud of each other.
He said: “When I told Daisy, she was so excited. I went to her rehearsals. Amazing. She got top scores. Amazing, incredible, I’m so proud of her.”
Gavin also has three sons, Kingston, 10, Zuma, eight, and Apollo, two, with his former wife Gwen Stefani and revealed that he will be flying back to LA weekly while filming ‘The Voice UK’ in London, so that he can see them.
Despite the “heinous” schedule, he said: “They’re the guys — they’re my replacements. The better versions of me. I’m going to try and take all the things I’ve ever done wrong and keep them away from that.”

Laura Whitmore: 'Strictly romance rumours are affecting my performance'

OHMYGOSSIP — Laura Whitmore says speculation about her and ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ partner Giovanni Pernice has affected her performance.
The 31-year-old presenter has been paired with the hunky dancer on the reality TV show but Laura was so upset by reports linking her to Giovanni, 26 – who is her close pal Georgia May Foote’s ex-boyfriend – that she hasn’t been able to bond properly with him.
Speaking to You magazine, she said: “I do care what people think about me. My relationship with Giovanni is completely professional. That’s all I ever want it to be. When all this happened he called me and told me not to let any of it get to me, to ignore it and get on with the show. To be honest he’s far too young for me and even though I’m single I’m still going on a couple of dates when I have the time – but not with Giovanni.’
“It has definitely affected my dancing. I’m so self-conscious I haven’t allowed myself to develop a proper partnership with Giovanni.
“He’s aware of it and so am I but I keep holding back. We were the first out on the floor on the first show and I was so nervous I couldn’t feel my legs. But I was fully aware I wasn’t letting myself go because of all the rumours about us.
“The other day we were made [by the BBC producers] to go out and bond. We climbed over the O2 building and then had a drink and it was brilliant fun. I’ve got to ignore all the stories and just be myself with Giovanni, but it hasn’t been easy.”
Laura also admitted that Georgia did unfollow her on Instagram but says it is only because she didn’t want to see pictures of her ex all the time.
She said: “Georgia – who is a good friend of mine – has been lovely but I felt things had been spoilt before I’d even got a chance to start.
“She did [unfollow]. But she’s following me again now. It’s complicated. I understand she doesn’t want to see pictures of her ex. But everything gets blown out of all proportion.”
However, despite the drama Laura is extremely competitive and determined to be a contender for the gillterball trophy.
She said: “I want to do whatever it takes. I got myself fully prepared. I asked everyone for advice. Brendan Cole told me to get every foot lotion and to put on blister cream before the blisters start – so I walked into Boots and bought everything on the shelf.”

Emily Blunt: 'Girl on the train is uncomfortable to watch'

OHMYGOSSIP — Emily Blunt wanted ‘The Girl on the Train’ to be “uncomfortable to watch”.
The 33-year-old actress stars in the big-screen adaptation of Paula Hawkins’ psychological thriller and says she and director Tate Taylor agreed to make it as “brutal” as possible.
She told The Sunday Times Culture magazine: “When I met Tate, we made a pact to make a film that goes to the real depths of despair, brutality to represent it in a way that was uncomfortable to watch. It shouldn’t be a fun watch. My father [a barrister] defends criminals, so has seen every horrific thing under the sun, was shocked.”
Although Emily loved working with Tate, she believes there are not enough female directors in Hollywood.
She said: “There should be more female directors, and those I’ve worked with, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed being around. It’s just a different approach … There’s a different camaraderie. It just is. So I don’t think too much is made of the divide. I have noticed quite substantial differences between working with women and working with men.
“Tate absolutely loves women. Enjoys their company and likes their idiosyncrasies. It was a very female-heavy set. We had a female cinematographer, most importantly. Because this film is so visual, and told from a point of view so you needed someone who could emotionally tell a point of view with a camera.”

Josh Brooks 'accused of assault'

OHMYGOSSIP — Josh Brooks’ former girlfriend has reportedly accused him of physically assaulting her.
The 17-year-old Brooks Way singer and his bandmate and twin Kyle were suspended from the first of the ‘X Factor’ live shows on Saturday (08.10.16), as programme bosses began to investigate the sensational claims against him.
Josh has previously denied attacking Amelia Clarke, 18, who he dated for four years, but admitted she was accidentally injured when she tried to stop a fight at a party between him and another male.
The Sun on Sunday reports that Amelia allegedly told a friend: “I was constantly lying about where my bruises had come from. The worst time was last year.
“He came to my house and because my parents had new white carpets fitted I told him not to walk on them.
“He said the way that I spoke to him wasn’t acceptable, knocked me over and kicked me in the face so hard that my nose broke. I heard it click out.”
On Saturday a show spokesperson revealed that Brooks Way would not be performing, explaining: “Due to the serious nature of the information which has come to light concerning one of Brooks Way, the group will not be performing in Saturday night’s show pending further inquiries.”
And during the ‘X Factor’, host Dermot told viewers: “Sadly, due to unforeseen circumstances, Brooks Way will not be performing tonight.”
Speaking last week after a report emerged claiming he had been arrested after a fight broke out at a New Year’s party, Josh said in a statement: “A fight broke out between me and another male at a party.
“Amelia, along with others, tried to break it up and she was accidentally knocked in the process. It was never my intention to hurt her or put her in danger and this situation is way out of my character.”

Alan Carr's Chatty Man axed

OHMYGOSSIP — Alan Carr’s ‘Chatty Man’ has been axed.
The Channel 4 chat show host has struggled to compete with BBC rival Graham Norton in the ratings and TV bosses have decided to pull the plug on his programme after 16 seasons.
Alan told the Sun on Sunday: “I just think that the art of the chat show has evolved unless you can get the amazing guests all the time that Norton gets.
“I’ll be honest with you, I don’t think moving it to a Thursday was the best move. It feels like a party show, a Friday show.
“Three guests a week and Channel 4, God love ’em, extended it to 30 episodes – that’s 90 guests who are relevant and people are interested in, up against the amazing Norton and Jonathan Ross.
“I’ve gone as far as I can with ‘Chatty Man’. Won a BAFTA, won two NTAs.”
However, there is good news for the star as he has landed a new show on Channel 4, ‘Alan Carr’s Happy Hour’, which will air at 8pm on Fridays.
The show has a similar concept as ‘Chatty Man’ where he’ll interview celebrities but without the booze, in a pre-watershed slot.
The forthcoming show will also have live music from chart-topping artists and will feature audience participation.
‘Chatty Man’ has always aired on Friday nights but it was moved to Thursdays earlier this year after it lagged behind in the ratings war against his competitors Norton and ITV’s ‘The Jonathan Ross Show’.

Ben Affleck's role as Batman prepared him for The Accountant

OHMYGOSSIP — Ben Affleck channelled his role as Batman in his new movie ‘The Accountant’.
The 44-year-old actor – who has been cast as the mathematics savant Christian Wolff in the drama film – has admitted he had to undergo intense combat training, similar to his preparation for ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’, for the movies action scenes in the crime film, which he stars in alongside Anna Kendrick.
Speaking in a live Twitter Q and A with his co-star about the role, the ‘Gone Girl’ star said: “I practiced fighting and learnt a lot of fighting techniques and spent months and months in training.”
However the ‘Pitch Perfect’ actress has revealed the lead-up to shooting the film was very different to Affleck, which saw her rely on her mother Janice, who is an accountant, to explain the financial terms to her.
She said: “I gave the script to my mum and she explained all the financial aspects because she’s an accountant, thanks mum!”
‘The Accountant’ follows Christian, who is an accountant for criminal organisations, but is slowly being uncovered by Dana (Kendrick) and the Treasury Department who are on a mission to uncover his secret.
Meanwhile, the dark-haired hunk has teased him and the 31 year old shared a strong connection on set.
He quipped: “I liked all the scenes with Anna it was so much fun- we had chemistry going.”
Kendrick of course took the opportunity to demonstrate their banter.
She retorted: “That’s so funny you say that because my favourite was the first scene I filmed because Ben wasn’t in it.”
Meanwhile, Affleck – who has also worked behind the camera and has directed a number of films including the forthcoming ‘The Batman’ – believes “every actor” should direct a film.
He said: “If every actor could take the opportunity to direct a movie they would definitely learn a lot. At least I did. It’s very educational.”

Aidan Turner hallucinated during Poldark scene

OHMYGOSSIP — Aidan Turner was left “hallucinating” when he tried to film a ‘Poldark’ scene in a hurry.
The 33-year-old actor – who portrays Ross Poldark in the period drama – was seen having a bath while his on-screen wife Demelza Polfark (Eleanor Tomlinson) tended to him, but the romantic moment wasn’t as easy to shoot as it seemed.
Aidan recalled: “Oh God, you know what? We had to wrap at 7pm that night and the bath was filled at 6.45pm, so we had 15 minutes to get the scene done.
“The water was so hot. I jumped in and couldn’t breathe. I was hallucinating and going crazy.
“They had to pour loads of cold water in and I just about got through it.”
Despite ‘Poldark’s huge popularity, Aidan had barely seen an episode until recently.
He admitted: “I’d never watched anything I’ve been in but I thought it was about time I got over that.
“And you know what? It’s not so bad. I must watch the first series now to see what the fuss is all about.
“It was becoming a thing. Like with ‘And Then There Were None’, I only watched the first episode. I adored it, but for some reason I couldn’t watch the rest.”
And Aidan admits his decision not to watch was a bad one as he feels there is a lot to learn from seeing his performances on screen.
He told heat magazine: “I was beginning to get into the bad habit of not watching my stuff and I think an actor should watch what they do because you learn from it.”

Justin Theroux talks Zoolander 2 criticism

OHMYGOSSIP — Justin Theroux says criticism of ‘Zoolander 2’ “sucks”.
The 45-year-old actor co-wrote the comedy sequel with director and star Ben Stiller and says it can be hard not to let bad reviews bother him.
He explained to The Hollywood Reporter: “That movie I thought was just beautiful. Of course it sucks when you feel like people aren’t liking it. If you drop your kid off at school, you don’t want every bully in the class to start taking shots at him. So everything I get to work on, I like when people are kind to it, but it’s not the thing that defines it.
“I think it’s that thing where you go – I usually try and not pay too much or grade myself too much on the reception of anything because I know I’ve done stinkers that have been well-received or things that I think are great that have been poorly received either financially or critically or whatever. But I’m also a big believer in that the experience is the thing. That’s the reason why you’re doing it is to have that experience. If we all did things just for the reception, we’d make s**t.
“So obviously you want to keep an eye on it because there is some – no one’s going to let you keep doing what you do if everything sucks – but like ‘Zoolander’, for example, from start to finish, the experience of that, was some of the happiest experiences I’ve had from sitting down with Ben and breaking it to the writing of it to the shooting of it was all fabulous. Three to five years of fabulous memories of that movie.”
Justin loves both acting and screenwriting but admitted he takes it more personally when a project he has written does badly.
He said: “I enjoy them both enormously. Writing is harder than acting. I enjoy acting for just the brevity with which you can be in the experience of doing it. Writing is kind of more satisfying in that you’re creating a world and doing something that feels bigger, but it’s very time consuming and has a higher threshold for failure. I take it harder when something I wrote doesn’t do well or isn’t received well. But it’s two different things. One’s an entree; one’s a dessert, I guess.”

Louis Walsh pokes fun at Dermot O'Leary

OHMYGOSSIP — Louis Walsh poked fun at Dermot O’Leary during Saturday’s (08.10.16) ‘X Factor’.
Both Louis and Dermot were axed from the show last year, with Dermot replaced by presenting duo Caroline Flack and Olly Murs and Louis replaced by judge Nick Grimshaw and the Irish music manager couldn’t resist alluding to it during the first live show this year.
When Dermot approached the judges’ table, Louis quipped: “Where’s Olly?”
Dermot simply responded by saying “Oh Louis” while the studio audience booed the judge.
Meanwhile, it wasn’t the best start to the live shows for Louis as his band Brooks Way were suspended.
Twins Josh and Kyle Brooks, 17, did not take part in the live show after it was revealed that show bosses are looking into claims that Josh sent threatening messages to his former girlfriend Amelia Clarke.
A source told MirrorOnline: “They’re investigating serious allegations about Josh allegedly sending threatening messages to her.”
Another source added: “They are not being replaced by another act – there will simply be 11 acts, not 12.
“Show bosses have not axed them – they have been suspended while the show has a chance to investigate claims.”
The pair were put through to the live shows by mentor Louis but during the week Josh was forced to deny claims he had assaulted Amelia after a report emerged claiming he had been arrested after a fight broke out at a New Year’s party.
He said in a statement: “A fight broke out between me and another male at a party.
“Amelia, along with others, tried to break it up and she was accidentally knocked in the process. It was never my intention to hurt her or put her in danger and this situation is way out of my character.”

Michael Douglas admits his father Kirk 'casts a long shadow'

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Douglas admits that his father Kirk still casts “an extremely long shadow” aged 99.
The 72-year-old Hollywood star has acknowledged that the ‘Spartacus’ actor was and still is, despite his advancing years, a hugely influential figure in whatever he does.
Michael shared: “When I was born, my father, Kirk, was 28, my mother, Diana, only 21. When I was barely two, my father decided he’d had enough of playing not particularly memorable parts in Broadway plays and took off on his own for Hollywood in pursuit of fame and fortune.
“Whichever way you cut it, Kirk was a man who cast – who still casts, aged 99 – an extremely long shadow. He was, and is, incredibly dynamic, larger than life, sometimes aggressive, a very masculine man who loved women.
“As my mother quickly discovered. Within 18 months of him being in California, she had seen and read enough to call time on the marriage. They divorced when I was seven and my younger brother, Joel, four.”
Michael’s mother Diana passed away in 2015, aged 92, and he has nothing but fond memories of her.
He told the Guardian newspaper: “She struggled as a single mum, working in soap operas and on and off Broadway. Then she made a wonderful choice in her next husband, a lovely man, another actor, called Bill Darrid. They married when I was 12. We lived in a small farmhouse in Connecticut, not 20 miles from where I live today.
“Bill was an extraordinary guy, the most important male influence through my teenage years. To his credit, Kirk always referred to him as my surrogate father.
“Step-parents often get a bad press. But it isn’t always true. This was a man who took on the responsibility of raising another man’s children, and that included answering questions about the birds and the bees.”

Anna Kendrick: I thought Up in the Air was above my pay grade

OHMYGOSSIP — Anna Kendrick initially thought the opportunity to appear alongside George Clooney in ‘Up in the Air’ was above her “pay grade”.
The 31-year-old actress’ career has been on an upward curve since she landed the coveted role in the 2009 comedy-drama.
She said: “I thought, this is so above my pay grade, I won’t even bother imagining that I’ll get this job.”
A few months later, however, Anna found herself starring opposite George in the film.
Recalling her experiences of working with the Hollywood star, Anna told the Daily Telegraph newspaper: “The hotel we were staying at had yoga classes, so I thought I might be good at that, I took dance as a kid. And on set, I was like, ‘yeah, I was doing this move with my leg over my shoulder’. Bragging, basically.
“And George said, ‘can you touch your head to your knees?’ I was like, no one can do that. And he did it right there in front of me. He basically folded himself in half. It’s really impressive. It was like, OK – so you’re better than me at everything.”
Despite subsequently becoming one of the most in-demand actresses in the movie business, Anna admitted she still has lots of self-doubts.
She shared: “I can talk myself out of doing things sometimes.”

Anastacia's Strictly Come Dancing future in doubt

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ bosses reportedly fear Anastacia will not be able to continue with the show beyond this weekend.
The 48-year-old singer-songwriter and cancer survivor tore the scar tissue around her double mastectomy just before last weekend’s programme, prompting a last-minute change to her dance routine, and despite being given the go-ahead to compete by doctors, Anastacia is still struggling.
‘Strictly’ professional dancer Ian Waite, who has seen footage of the singer preparing with her partner Brendan Cole, told BBC Two’s ‘It Takes Two’: “There is an issue.
“Anastacia’s head keeps coming into Brendan whereas I would like to see her get her head out a bit more like a flower in a vase. Maybe it’s because of her injury.”
Anastacia is delighted she has been given the green light to keep dancing as she is donating her appearance fee to Cancer Research UK.
A spokeswoman recently said: “She is doing this to raise money for breast cancer, so unless a doctor tells her she can’t carry on, quitting would never be an option. Anastacia and Brendan are now in rehearsal.
“Anastacia visited the clinic of a specialist in breast reconstruction surgery. The doctor again confirmed that there was a tear in the scar tissue, which although painful is not permanent. She was given the all clear to dance this weekend with the caveat that the routine is carefully choreographed and she has been given the appropriate medication.
“Brendan was with her for her appointments and they have been filmed for this weekend’s episode.”
