Four of Diamonds impress on first X Factor live show

OHMYGOSSIP — Four of Diamonds wowed judges during their first live performance on ‘The X Factor’.
The girl group – comprised of Lauren, 22, Caroline, 19, Sophie, 19, and Yasmin, 17 – were originally kicked out of the competition during Judge’s Houses, but were drafted back in to replace Brooks Way, after the sibling duo were disqualified from the singing competition when it emerged that Josh Brooks, 17, had allegedly assaulted his former girlfriend.
During their performance, the quartet stunned the judging panel – including mentor Louis Walsh – with their rendition of Kim Wilde’s ‘You Keep Me Hangin’ On’.
Sharon Osbourne said: “To come in here last minute, when everyone else has been working with the ‘X Factor’ team for weeks, and you come in cold like this and you give such a great confident performance, really well well done. And welcome! Welcome to the ‘X Factor’ stage, it’s a real pleasure to have such a gorgeous girl group as you here.”
Fellow judge Nicole Scherzinger branded the girls as her “favourite girl group” and Simon Cowell said he “couldn’t believe [they] weren’t put through in the first place”.
Elsewhere on week two of the live shows – which saw the contestants perform a range of Motown hits – it was 20-year-old Ryan Lawrie who failed to impress Simon with his rendition of ‘Superstition’.
The 57-year-old entertainment mogul said: “Ryan, I hate to be the party pooper tonight but this didn’t work. I had a feeling this was going to happen when I knew that Nicole [Ryan’s mentor] chose this song for you. It was mechanical. It didn’t feel real, I thought the choreography was really really old fashioned. The last, maybe, ten seconds of the song were good, but this was a mistake. And I really feel bad for you.”
‘The X Factor’ results show – which will include a performance from the show’s alumni Little Mix – will air on ITV at 8pm on Sunday (16.10.16)

Ore Oduba tops Strictly Come Dancing leaderboard

OHMYGOSSIP — Ore Oduba has topped the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ leaderboard with an almost perfect score.
The 29-year-old sports presenter and his partner Joanne Clifton wowed judges with the first jive of the competition on Saturday (15.10.16), and managed to score an impressive 39, with only Craig Revel Horwood not presenting him with a perfect 10.
Len Goodman compared the performance to that of last year’s winner Jay McGuinness, whose memorable jive scored 37.
The 72-year-old head judge said: “It was a show-stopping, jaw-dropping, eye-popping, jive. I thought last week was fantastic. You’ve had a week, or four days, five days, whatever. But listen, move over Jay, you’ve turned up.”
Elsewhere on the show, ‘Hollyoaks’ hunk Danny Mac and his partner Oti Mabuse matched the whopping score of 36 they scored last week, with each judge giving their quickstep a nine.
Darcy Bussell said: “Oh my gosh that was pure class. When you were up on stage there, I could not wait for it to start. What you just produced up there, I just wanted you to get on the dance floor. And I thought ‘Yes!’ and you could do it and my gosh you sailed. That was outstanding. You led Oti, and you were in control of the dance. And that is something that is very difficult for a male celebrity to do. That is one of the best classic quicksteps I have seen.”
At the other end of the ‘Strictly…’ leaderboard was politician Ed Balls, who failed to impress judges with his knight in shining armour themed Paso Doble. The former Shadow Chancellor scored just 16, with Bruno Tonioli likening Ed’s arm movements to a “demented traffic warden”.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ results show will be on BBC One at 7:15pm on Sunday (16.10.16)

Little Mix slam 'fake' Honey G

OHMYGOSSIP — Little Mix believe Honey G is an actress.
The girl group – who won ‘The X Factor’ in 2011 – have revealed that they think this year’s rapper contestant Honey G is a fake.
Jade Thirlwall told The Sun: “I think it’s a joke. I don’t believe she’s real. She’s blatantly an actress. Let’s just say, I’ve heard she’s an actress.”
And Jesy Nelson, told Kiss FM: “She’s just no. I think she’s an actress, I’ve been told she is as well.”
While Leigh-Anne Pinnock doesn’t mind novelty acts in the show, she would prefer to see “real talent” shine through.
She said: “I’m all for entertainment, but I’m also all for real talent as well.”
Jesy previously slammed ‘The X Factor’ for letting novelty acts, such as Honey G and Bratavio, through to the live shows.
She said: “I don’t think it’s fair that novelty acts get through. I get it in that it becomes a little niche thing and everyone finds it funny, but I just think it’s so unfair when so many incredible people don’t get through.
“If that would’ve been [the case] on our year, I would’ve been f****d off.”
Jade added: “Even in our year there were artists like Kitty [Brucknell] who were seen as novelty, but she was still an incredible singer.”
And while Leigh-Anne says while there is “no excuse” for the judges, Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne, Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh, giving into the such artists she knows how the show works and understands it is for “entertainment” purposes.
She said: “At the same time you have to remember that ‘The X Factor’ is an entertainment show – they want to get people watching.
“You have to take it for what it is, as annoying as it can be. It’s funny watching it because we know what goes on behind closed doors.
“We know how it all works. And you do know when you’re on the show who gets more camera time and all that.”

Leah Bracknell: 'Telling my children about cancer diagnosis was the worst part'

OHMYGOSSIP — Leah Bracknell says telling her daughters about her cancer was the “worst thing” she ever had to do.
The former ‘Emmerdale’ star – who was known for playing Zoe Tate – recently revealed she has terminal lung cancer and says breaking the news to her children, Lily, 25, and Maya, 21, was heartbreaking.
She told the Daily Mail: “Any mother will know how I felt. It’s the worst thing you can imagine having to tell those closest to you, something like this … trying to find the words. It’s the worst thing I’ve had to do.
“I think it’s almost worse for those close to you because they’re trying to look after and protect the person who’s poorly, not just physically, but emotionally.”
Since learning of her condition last month, the 52-year-old actress is refusing to accept that she may die from the disease and is on a mission to raise cash for treatment at a cutting-edge German hospital.
And although she never intended to make her fundraising mission public, she raised over £60,000 after a private Facebook appeal went viral.
She said: “I’m a very private person, and it was never my intention for my appeal to go public. But people have been so massively generous I wanted to be able to say thank you.
“To discover I have all these friends has been phenomenally touching and, weirdly, I feel really lucky. What has happened to me has allowed me to see the beauty of humankind and that’s really powerful.
“Maybe if you ask me two or three months down the line I’ll have a different story, but right now I do feel very blessed.”

Jason Donovan to be X Factor judge?

OHMYGOSSIP — Jason Donovan wants to be an ‘X Factor’ judge.
The ‘Too Many Broken Hearts’ hitmaker – who was on the panel for ‘Superstar’, which looked for a lead in West End show ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ in 2012 – admits he isn’t the “best singer” but thinks his years of experience gives him the credentials to cast his eye over aspiring performers.
He said: “I think I’ve been around for long enough to justify doing something like that.
“I don’t claim to be the best singer in the world, but I’ve certainly had a long career and I think that defines true talent.”
While he waits for a call from Simon Cowell, Jason – who has children Jemma, 16, Zac, 15, and Molly, five, with wife Angela Malloch – is looking forward to going out on tour to perform songs from his ‘Ten Good Reasons’ album, which was released in 1989.
He said: “To have a bunch of fans that have been with me for over 25 years is great.
“I’m, a lot more confident now compared to when I released the album when I was 21, so I feel like I’m doing the songs justice now.”
Jason, who has previously battled drug addiction, tries to live his life to the full because he never knows what is around the corner.
He told Closer magazine: “You’ve got to check yourself in the mirror occasionally.
“You never know what’s around the corner, so you’ve got to keep reminding yourself to go out there and enjoy it because shocks happen all the time.”

Amy Adams wanted to star in Arrival within 'five minutes' of reading the script

OHMYGOSSIP — Amy Adams knew she wanted to star in ‘Arrival’ within “five minutes” of reading the script.
The 42-year-old actress, who plays the role of Doctor Louise Banks in the science fiction film, has admitted she “realised very quickly” she was happy to act in the movie alongside Jeremy Renner because of the mother and daughter opening scene.
Speaking to The Upcoming Online, the flame-haired beauty said: “I realised very quickly, just by the way that it opens. The first five minutes of something usually makes me decide whether or not I’m going to like a script and this one begged me to keep going. And when I got to the end of it I had to go back and read it again, knowing what I knew.
“When I spoke with [director] Denis [Villeneuve] that was the thing that let me know he was on the same page as me; he saw what I saw in the script. We talked about a bunch of other stuff and at the end of the day he just said, ‘This is a story about a mother, you start the film by speaking to your daughter’, and that caught me. So I knew he was going to protect the story, and that’s what’s important to me.”
And Adams has revealed she is grateful she has been cast in a role where she is “smart”.
She explained: “Well I think sometimes females are written as if they’re smart in the description but then not given anything smart to do or say! So the fact that she gets to be smart, not just act smart is awesome. Also, the fact that she’s acting not only with her intelligence, which is required of her, but also with her instinctive intelligence really appealed to me. That was fun to get to play.
“I’ve played roles where I’ve lost my vanity before but this one was different because she was so intelligent and imagining this as a woman without vanity was incredibly freeing to me. A lot of my characters have had some of the innate vanity we all have as human beings, but she really didn’t and that was really freeing, very refreshing, for me.”
Meanwhile the ‘Enchanted’ star has revealed her preparation for the film was “long-winded”.
She said: “Preparation is so individual, and you have conversations with the director, but a lot of the work I do is done privately sometimes months before work starts … It’s very long-winded.”

Ewan McGregor's wife convinced him to direct American Pastoral

OHMYGOSSIP — Ewan McGregor’s wife convinced him to direct ‘American Pastoral’.
The actor was attached to star in the movie for many years but when the project found itself without a director, Ewan says his spouse Eve encouraged him to helm the movie.
He told Variety: “Honestly, it [was] my wife, Eve. When we lost the director in late 2014, she said I should do it. I had been looking to director for 20 years and it was never the right opportunity but this one just came together. I spent a day with the script, really being honest about playing the role and having the bigger picture in my head. I suggested myself to the Lakeshore producers and after giving them that big picture, they shortly after let me direct it.
“It was sort of a series of happy coincidences. I was attached to act in it for a number of years. And I never thought about directing because there was always someone else attached to it or it was director-less.”
Dakota Fanning co-stars in the movie with Ewan and Jennifer Connelly and she praised his directing skills.
She said: “He’s just a lovely person to be around. Getting to know him was a wonderful part of my life and getting to be part of his first time directing, I think it’s something he’ll remember and I’m so thrilled to be a part of that.”
Jennifer added: “He’s very confident as a director and he really created a very nice environment for everyone to collaborate in.”

Rachel McAdams: 'Benedicts transformation into Strange is really extraordinary'

OHMYGOSSIP — Rachel McAdams found Benedict Cumberbatch’s transformation into Doctor Stephen Strange “really extraordinary”.
The 37-year-old actress, who plays the role of Doctor Christine Palmer in the fantasy film, has admitted she couldn’t take her “eyes off” of her 40-year-old co-star who plays the lead role, and the sorcerer the Ancient One, which is played by Tilda Swinton.
Speaking to SFX magazine about the production, the ‘Southpaw’ star – who plays the former on-screen girlfriend to Stephen – said: ” I play an ER trauma doctor who specialises in thoracic surgery, at the Metropolitan Hospital in New York City. Stephen is a very famous, successful neurosurgeon at the same hospital that she works at. They are former boyfriend and girlfriend when we pick up in the story. So we start at the end of their relationship, which is a little bit different. It’s not a classic love story, which I thought was really clear.
“Tilda looks incredible as the Ancient One. You can’t take your eyes off of her and the same with Benedict. His transformation into Strange is really extraordinary.”
And McAdams believes the high calibre of actors in the movie has “elevated” the film, and will allow the audience to “suspend their disbelief” and believe the plot.
She explained: “It just elevates everything and being able to work with all those amazing actors raises the bar and allows the audience to buy into things more and suspend their disbelief.”
The blonde-haired beauty has revealed she read “a few” comics to help her get into character.
She said: “I read a few of the comics. Scott Derrickson, the director, pointed me towards ‘The Oath’ in particular. He thought that would be the most helpful for my character. She’s not really in the superhero world yet in this one. She’s very much in the real world, in the hospital and in doctor land. For me it was interesting to get to know Strange in terms of the comics and see where my character might potentially be headed. ”

Kristen Stewart: 'No room for error in new movie'

OHMYGOSSIP — Kristen Stewart felt exposed while shooting Ang Lee’s ‘Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk’.
The actress co-stars in the movie with Garrett Hedlund and Vin Diesel and admitted that the director’s decision to film in 4K resolution, native 3D and at the rate of 120 frames per second, and says every take was “raw and real” because there was no room for error.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, she said: “When you’re shooting in the way that we always do, there are certain things that people don’t see. I’ll finish a take on any other movie and I’ll want to do it again, they’ll tell me, ‘No, it was great,’ and I’ll say, ‘No, trust me, I was lying’. On this, there’s no room for that. You see everything. It had to be raw and real. I thought it was awesome, it was so cool – I was like, ‘Push me harder!'”
Garrett also revealed that Ang warned his cast against overacting.
He explained: “[Lee] told us all at the beginning, ‘If you try to act, you’re gonna look like you’re acting, because the resolution is so high. You can’t act; you just have to be.’ He just wanted everybody to be natural.”
And Vin was hugely impressed with the director, adding: “Seeing the movie is such a heavy experience. The nuances in the movie, the proposed message in the movie, is kind of heavy. After you saw the credits, everyone was like a deer in headlights. … [It] takes you a place you don’t expect to go in a war picture, and to have a war picture simplified in a statement of love is a testament to what Ang has done.”
The movie is based on the novel of the same name, which follows the story of 19-year-old private Billy Lynn, who returns to the United States from Iraq as one of a group of war heroes, following a particularly intense battle.
The heroic men are then sent on a ‘victory tour’ by the United States government but soon find out their heroic ending isn’t all what it seemed as they are told they will have to return to war.

Laura Whitmore refused to go out to stop Strictly Come Dancing gossip

OHMYGOSSIP — Laura Whitmore stopped going out so she didn’t have to talk about ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 31-year-old presenter wasn’t allowed to tell anyone she had signed up to take part on the show so ended up cutting herself off from her pals so she wouldn’t be tempted to spill the beans.
She admitted: “It was really hard. I always wanted to do the show. We had the conversation at the start of the year and the only person I could tell was my mum.
“It was in the papers that I was rumoured to be doing it, which made it even harder.
“I was at this lunch that Tess Daly was at – I’d never met her before – and someone shouted, ‘Are you doing ‘Strictly’, Laura?’ and I was like, ‘No’.
“Then because I find it really hard to lie, I felt I couldn’t see people. I just had to stay in to avoid them.”
While Laura – who is partnered with Giovanni Pernice on the show – was excited about being on the programme, she was very afraid of having to do lifts.
She explained: “My fear was the lifts. I didn’t know how anyone was going to lift me. I’m all arms and legs. You have to learn to contain yourself.”
The blonde beauty has a number of friends, including Alesha Dixon, Caroline Flack, Mark Wright and Pixie Lott, who have previously competed on the show so has been getting tips from them.
She told HELLO! magazine: “Everyone says you just have to work really hard and use the time to rehearse, rehearse, rehearse – so that’s what I’m doing.
“Daisy Lowe is a good friend so we can share the experience.”

Nadiya Hussain offered mega-money deal from BBC

OHMYGOSSIP — Nadiya Hussain has been offered a mega-money deal from the BBC to stop her joining Channel 4’s the ‘Great British Bake Off’.
The 31-year-old baker – who won the cooking competition last year when it was screened on the BBC – has decided to make the broadcaster her “home” after it was thought bosses from the rival channel were hoping to pinch her for the next series.
She said: “Since winning the ‘Great British Bake Off’ I’ve been lucky to have had some amazing opportunities with the BBC.
“I believe that making it my home gives me the scope to work across such a unique range of diverse and interesting projects. I’m delighted to announce that I will continue making films for ‘The One Show’, as well as developing other exciting programme ideas. I never thought this would happen, but it is and I have to admit, I’m going to embrace it.”
It’s believed bosses from the BBC decided to jump in quick and make Nadiya an offer she can’t refuse because they wanted to make it even harder for Channel 4 to replace Mary Berry.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: “The BBC is now playing Channel 4 at its own game.
“They don’t want to make it easy for them to replace Mary and were determined to stop Nadiya from jumping ship too.
“It’s a real coup for them because it leaves Channel 4 with no obvious option to replace Mary, which is their worst nightmare.”
Mary, 81, announced she was leaving ‘GBBO’ last month out of “loyalty” to the BBC after it was revealed it had lost the rights to screen the show, which it’s had for six years, and Channel 4 had swooped in with a three-year deal worth £75million.
She said at the time: “My decision to stay with the BBC is out of loyalty to them, as they have nurtured me, and the show, that was a unique and brilliant format from day one.
“I am just sad for the audience who may not be ready for change, I hope they understand my decision.”
However, Mary’s co-judge Paul Hollywood decided to take Channel 4’s offer and follow the show across next year.

Matt Smith praises Prince Phillip after depicting him in Netflix's The Crown

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Smith thinks Prince Philip showed “aplomb” when his wife Elizabeth became the monarch.
The 33-year-old star is experiencing first-hand what life was like for the royal couple when his spouse became the ruler of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand in 1952 while depicting the duke in the new Netflix drama ‘The Crown’.
In an interview with Daily Mail newspaper, he said: “Their life is unlike anyone else’s in the world.
“And yet, somewhere in that, they have to function as normal human beings. It’s a bizarre set of circumstances to live your life in, and I think they’ve done it with aplomb.”
‘The Crown’ is an American-British television drama series, created and written by Peter Morgan, and gives the biographical story of the UK reign of Queen Elizabeth II.
Speaking about his role of Prince Philip, and how his character copes with the reality of their marriage no longer being one of equals, Matt explained: “His career in the Navy was taken away from him when she became the monarch – and that’s the real crux of the series for Philip. In many ways, he is emasculated. His work and function were taken away. It’s very odd when you have to start walking two steps behind your wife.”
Claire Foy stars opposite Matt as Queen Elizabeth and he has confirmed there is no “hanky panky” on Philip’s part in series one but other scenes make it clear she liked him making his way to her bedroom when he returned home late “a bit drunk.”
He said: “I think he was a young man who was in a very bizarre position. At times he was a bit of a lad, going to gentleman’s clubs and lunches; and he’d get a bit drunk. But there’s no suggestion of him having full-blown affairs.”
‘The Crown’ is a 10-part series which will be available on Netflix from November 4.

Stacey Solomon wants Disney-inspired wedding

OHMYGOSSIP — Stacey Solomon wants a Disney-inspired wedding.
The ‘Loose Women’ panellist is yet to get engaged to Joe Swash, whom she’s been dating for just under a year, but has admitted she’s already decided on how she wants her nuptials.
Speaking on the lunchtime show on Friday (14.10.16), she said: “You know as much as I do, I love the Disney wedding. I want all the birds there but I’m also practical. We both have children, we just want to be really set up and secure and know that we’re doing it for all the right reasons before we actually do it.”
And the 27-year-old singer – who was born in Dagenham, London – isn’t bothered if the actor doesn’t reach out to her father David before he drops down to one knee.
She explained: “I don’t think I want Joe to ask my dad. I want my family involved definitely but I don’t think it needs to be in Dagenham … I’m so happy and comfortable with him that I don’t really mind when it’ll [a proposal will] be …”
And, although she’s in no rush to tie the knot, Stacey already knows that the former ‘EastEnders’ star, 34, is the right one.
She said: “We’ve only been going out nearly a year and I adore him and i would love to get married.
“I see a future with him otherwise i wouldn’t be with him but it really hasn’t been that long. I think we really need to take our time with marriage, that’s quite a big step.
“I don’t feel under pressure but I do think there’s a lot of people thinking it’s been 10 years when it really hasn’t. We do really care about each other.”
Stacey has Zachary, eight, and Leighton, four, from two previous relationships, while Joe has Harry, nine, with his ex-partner Emma Sophocleous.

Tom Hanks: Villain scripts haven't lived up to my standards

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Hanks has never been offered a “good” villain role.
The 60-year-old actor has starred in an abundance of films where he’s primarily portrayed heart-warming and often ‘goofball’ characters but would like to try his hand at a villainous role.
He said: “The villains they offer me are the ones that say things like, ‘Before I kill you, Mr Bond, perhaps you’d like a tour of our installation.”
Instead, Hanks sees himself as ‘the guy next door’ and the ‘new Jimmy Stewart’.
He added: “I’ve got a squeaky voice and big nose, so I guess that makes me qualified.”
Hanks stars as Dr Robert Langdon in ‘Inferno’ – the third film in the Dan Brown series – and is tasked with fending off a villain who plans to wipe out half of the planet’s population with the push of a button.
Hanks really enjoyed reprising his role as Dr Langdon, insisting he would have to “be a dope” to say no.
He added: “Come down to Florence? Shoot some film and eat great food? For a month? I’d have to be a dope to walk away from that.”
And although he feels his latest film is balanced when it comes to the ratio of male to female stars, he thinks TV is more diverse now.
He told Times 2: “The truth is if you look at the state of television right now it is kicking the movies’ butt when it comes to any kind of diversity. In television the spread of roles, between gender and ethnicity, is beautifully crazily diverse.
“The canard with movies is that there is a box office thing to deal with, which gets you in to cultural aspects of worldwide box office performance. Although in our movie there’s a pretty good 50:50 share between men and women.”
