OHMYGOSSIP — ITV turned down the chance to buy the ‘Great British Bake Off’.
The channel’s boss Kevin Lygo was approached by Love Productions – the company that makes the show – when negotiations were in full swing last month but he snubbed the chance to put in an offer because there was no guarantee hosts Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc and judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood would move across with it.
Speaking to Broadcast magazine, the channel’s director of television said: “You really are buying some sort of baking powder and a tent. I said, ‘If you can’t guarantee it [that the judges would sign up for the series], then no, it’s not for us, thank you very much.’ ”
Once discussions between Love Productions and the BBC – which has screened the cooking series since 2010 – broke down four weeks ago, Channel 4 dived in with an offer worth an estimated £75 million and managed to snap it up with a three-year deal.
Kevin thinks Channel 4 have made a huge mistake taking over the well-loved series, especially now that Mel, Sue and Mary have quit out of “loyalty” to the BBC.
He explained: “It’s just a really weird screw up. It will be studied by television sociologists in years to come, I suspect, about what the f**k went on with that show.”
However, he doesn’t think Channel 4 are totally to blame and believe the BBC should think long and hard about why they let the programme slip through their fingers.
He said: “The BBC should think why did they lose it really. They should ask themselves that pretty closely.”
‘GBBO’ will shift across to Channel 4 later this year but the future of it is currently up in the air as the broadcaster is on the hunt for another judge to work alongside Paul.
The 50-year-old silver fox agreed to move with the programme after Channel 4 reportedly slapped down a three-year mega-money deal.
He said recently: “Since I was a kid, baking has been part of my life. The seven series inside the tent have created some great memories.
“Best of all, I have felt so pleased to experience other people getting the baking bug, just as I did when my dad helped me make my first loaf.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Marnie Simpson wants to study criminology.
The ‘Geordie Shore’ star – who is known for stumbling out of nightclubs in front of the cameras – is being pushed by her former ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ housemate Saira Khan to walk away from the MTV show and go to university because she believes she’s got too much talent to waste on alcohol.
Speaking on ‘Loose Women’ on Wednesday (19.10.16) sometimes panellist Saira told Marnie: “What I will say to you is ‘Geordie Shore’ will have a life span, you’ve got enormous potential, I know you wanna go…bank that money, you’re a sensible girl, go to university and get that criminology degree that you were telling me about, seriously, believe in yourself, you are bigger than ‘Geordie Shore’.”
Although the 24-year-old beauty has agreed to be part of the forthcoming series of the show, she has admitted it may not be long before she walks away because she thinks her drunken antics will start to affect her relationship with Lewis Bloor.
She explained: “I went in there [‘Geordie Shore’ house] when I had a relationship before and it was tough but I got through it and I haven’t cared about anyone else how I care about Lewis so it’ll be a breeze. I’m just going in there to have fun, it’s not about getting with boys anymore, it’s in the past.”
The couple – who met in the ‘CBB’ house two months ago – have been subject to split rumours recently after Marnie deleted all traces of the hunk from her Instagram account.
However, she’s adamant she and Lewis are “100 per cent” in love and she only wiped him from her social networking sites because they’d had an argument and she was angry.
She said: “It’s really really tough because we live so far away, we had an argument and I deleted every single picture of us from Instagram but it’s because I’m angry and I’m immature and everyone is looking and I was like, ‘Oh god why have I done that.’ Because now I have put so much pressure on us, we are working through it, it’s hard.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Billie Faiers will have a joint christening for her daughter Nelly and her new baby next year.
The former ‘The Only Way is Essex’ star – who is currently three months pregnant – has decided to hold off on the church ceremony until she’s given birth to her second child in March because she wants to have a big celebratory party for them both.
She explained: “We’re going to do a joint one next year. Nelly has to be christened to get her into the school we want to go to. It’ll be a big party because we’ve got so many family and friends, that’s why I want to do a joint one so I don’t have to do it twice.”
The 26-year-old beauty – who recently quit the ITVBe show to focus on her family – has a lot going on at the moment as not only is she preparing for the arrival of her second child and busy looking after little two-year-old Nelly, but she’s also trying to plan her wedding to her fiancé-of-two-years Greg Shepherd, whom she hoping to wed by the end of 2018.
Speaking to OK! magazine, Greg said:”We’ll have around 60 or 70 people. It will be a Maldivian, an Italian or a big fat Greek wedding.”
And Billie certainly has a lot of competition as her youngster sister Sam Faiers, 25, has teased that she’ll definitely make it down the aisle with her beau Paul Knightley, with whom she has nine-month-old son Paul Tony, before she and Greg get hitched.
She said: “Sam keeps telling me that her and Paul are going to beat me down the aisle! She wants to get married but he needs to pop the question first. I think he does too, but he’s a closed book so he certainly wouldn’t tell me or Greg!”
The sisters recently locked horns on Sam’s reality TV show ‘Sam Faiers: The Mummy Diaries’ after the blonde beauty announced she was planning to move to Surrey.
But, although Billie was initially hurt by Sam’s decision, she has admitted she’s not going to get too stressed out about it until her sibling action puts her words into actions.
She said: “I was shocked. I was like “Why would you want to move to Surrey? But unless she actually moves, there’s no point getting stressed about it.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Scotty T once paid for his one-night stand to have an abortion.
The ‘Geordie Shore’ hunk – who is known for his womanising ways on screen – accidentally got one of the 1,000 women he’s slept with pregnant but breathed a sigh of relief when the mystery girl told him she wasn’t planning to keep the baby.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper in promotion of his new book ‘Scotty T: A Shore Thing’, he explained: “She said she felt it was only right to let me know she was pregnant and that she wasn’t going to go through with it. Forgive me for saying it, but the sudden relief I experienced when she said that she wasn’t planning on keeping the baby was overwhelming, because I knew for sure that I wasn’t ready to be a dad.”
Despite his numerous drunken bunk ups, the 28-year-old star has admitted he’s only got a girl pregnant once and was proud with the way he handled the situation.
He said: “To be honest it was the only occasion this had happened. But I dealt with it properly and respectfully, as should anyone else in that situation, FYI.”
Although he’s got plenty of experience when it comes to winning girls over, Scotty was left heartbroken earlier this month when his girlfriend Francesca Toole dumped him after it was rumoured he had enjoyed a casual fling with married Katie Price.
He said: “Got dumped by my girlfriend and had to change my number, buzzing.”
Scotty and Katie sparked rumours after they were pictured visiting a hotel together for two hours, although they’re both adamant they were simply getting a sunbed.
Scotty said: “She’s genuinely just my pal. I literally took her for a sunbed at my friend’s salon and that was it.”
But, although Francesca immediately called things off with the lothario, it’s believed him and the student have now patched things up as they were spotted locking lips in Newcastle over the weekend.

OHMYGOSSIP — Lauren Goodger was allegedly involved in a bust-up in The Sugar Hut earlier this month.
The ‘Only Way is Essex’ star – who has just returned to the ITVBe programme permanently – is being investigated by police after she found herself caught up in a physical altercation with two other girls at the famous hot spot in Essex on October 9.
A police spokesperson said: “We are investigating reports of assaults occurring at around 1.30am on Sunday morning, October 9, on the first floor of The Sugar Hut in Brentwood High Street. Officers were contacted with reports three women were assaulted.”
An eagle-eyed onlooker has claimed Lauren was enjoying a dance at the nightclub before bouncers had to separate the girls as the reality TV star had her hand wrapped in another woman’s hair.
However, a representative for The Sugar Hut insists bosses have searched through CCTV footage and are adamant no altercation was captured on camera at the venue.
The spokesperson said: “CCTV recordings have been reviewed and there is no evidence of the alleged altercation. The Sugar Hut operates a zero tolerance on violence and any persons acting or being violent to our staff or customers would be ejected from the premises immediately regardless of who they are.”
Lauren, 30, shocked fans last weekend when she bounced back onto screens to support her best friend Megan McKenna following her shock split from Pete Wicks.
The 24-year-old beauty dumped her co-star two weeks ago when she found out he’d been sending saucy messages to at least 10 different girls – including his ex Jacqui Ryland.
Lauran first joined ‘TOWIE’ in 2010 but quit two years later when she split from her then-fiancé Mark Wright but has since made various cameo appearances.

OHMYGOSSIP — ITV has announced it is bringing British wrestling back to TV with a ‘World of Sport’ special.
The two-hour programme will see some of the UK’s top grapplers, including ‘The East End Butcher’ Sha Samuels, Dave Mastiff and ‘Viper’ Kimberly Benson, compete in a fun-filled afternoon of family sports entertainment.
Commissioned by Helen Warner for ITV and produced by ITV Studios Entertainment ‘World of Sport Wrestling’ – or ‘WOS Wrestling’ – will be filmed in front of a live audience in November and will feature a variety of matches such as singles bouts, tag team battles and eliminations.
Former WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) commentator Jim Ross – a Hall of Fame star – will be calling the action as part of the ring-side broadcast team.
Backstage, viewers will catch up with the wrestlers between fights and at the end of the show one star will take home the WoS Wrestling belt.
‘World of Sport’ was a sporting compilation show that was broadcast by ITV from January 1965 until September 1985 in competition with the BBC’s ‘Grandstand’ programme.
It featured a variety of sports with wrestling prominently every week.
The British public fell in love with the larger than life characters such as Rollerball Rocco, Mick McManus and Kendo Nagasaki and the long-running feud between fan favourite Big Daddy and the villainous Giant Haystacks made the pair household names.
Tom McLennan, Creative Director for ITV Studios Entertainment, is very “excited” the beloved ‘World of Sport Wrestling’ show is coming back to the small screen for young and old to enjoy.
McLennan – who is executive producing with Simon Marsh – said: “‘World of Sport Wrestling’ was a major event for millions of families every Saturday afternoon for over 20 years. I’m excited about bringing back this iconic brand and celebrating the best British wrestlers in the country.”
‘World of Sport’ has plenty of famous fans such as Kasabian rockers Tom Meighan and Serge Pizzorno and ‘X Factor’ boss Simon Cowell who has previously declared his love of British wrestling.
Simon said: “I used to watch it as a kid … Now American wrestling’s big, I think it’s a good idea to bring it back. But you have to bring back really big people.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Stephanie Waring is dating Michael Greco.
The ‘Hollyoaks’ beauty – who portrays Cindy Cunningham – has struck up a relationship with the former ‘EastEnders’ star, who played Beppe di Marco, but is determined to take things slowly as she doesn’t want her new romance to cause any disruption for her daughters Mia, 10, and Lexi, six.
Stephanie’s manager told OK! magazine: “I can confirm they are dating however it’s very early days, and Steph’s focus right now is her daughters and ‘Hollyoaks’.”
The 38-year-old beauty set tongues wagging over the weekend when she uploaded a photograph online of her and Michael, 45, enjoying a cosy group dinner with her fellow ‘Hollyoaks’ co-stars Kieron Richardson and Ross Adams in Manchester.
She accompanied the picture with the caption: “Amazing meal at San Carlo Hale with this lovely lot @mrkieronrichardson @rosshollyoaks @thegrecs @philcrusham. (sic)”
And the pair aren’t going to drastic lengths to keep their relationship a secret as they enjoyed a flirtatious exchange on Twitter at the beginning of last month.
Stephanie wrote: “This guy @michaelgreco2 is lucky that it’s Follow Friday as he clearly needs help bumping up his followers. So go on press his button! (sic)”
Michael spotted the tweet almost immediately and replied: “Ahhh bless you. Glass of Prosecco waiting for ya love! Xx”
However, the soap star wanted more than a glass of bubbly as she said: “Surely it’s worth more than a glass of Prosecco? (sic)”
Stephanie’s new relationship comes just seven weeks after she revealed how hard it is being a full-time actress and a single mother.
She wrote alongside a photograph of her daughters: “See these two beautiful faces.. They are my girls! I have been a mother for 10 years.. Before this I had no idea what was to lie before me, the challenges I would have to face, the comprises I would have to make, to let go of my freedom of being a carefree 20 something actress that needed to be here there everywhere at the drop of a hat.. I was never a girl who cared much for responsibility so I didn’t have any.
“But then the day came when I gave birth to my first, Mia.. I was then faced with the reality that my life had changed and it wasn’t just about me anymore. Being a single mother and holding down a full time job on a soap was and still is a challenge in itself and now I don’t just have Mia I have my youngest Lexi as well. I do my best, I try my best but I’m not perfect, I feel like I get it wrong sometimes but there is no hand book, no right way of being a parent, there are no set of rules, there isn’t one way of doing it, people will tell you you’re doing it wrong that their way is best..
“No one can do it right all the time no one can have it all, if you are winning at work then you will be failing at home, if you are on top of everything at home then work isn’t getting your full attention the two go hand in hand. It’s a juggling act, a routine that sometimes doesn’t go to plan, I have no nanny, no cleaner, no partner to help, I am on my own and it’s bloody hard, working a 12hr day and getting the Hoover out is not my top priority at the end of the day but then I berate myself when I do get home from work and I have missed so much of my kids day! OHMYGOSSIP — Strictly Come Dancing’s Brendan Cole has been replaced in training due to illness.
Gorka Marquez is filling in for the 40-year-old professional dancer, who partners Anastacia, after he was struck down with a serious chest infection which saw him rush to A&E shortly before he was due to dance on last Saturday’s (15.10.16) show.
And the star is not sure whether he will be fit enough to perform this Saturday (22.10.16).
Speaking on ‘Strictly’ spin-off ‘It Takes Two’, he said: “I’ll see the doctor again, he said take off until Thursday/ Friday at least.”
Brendan has still played a large part in the pop star’s routine for this weekend as he choreographed the dance.
Anastacia joked she “hadn’t noticed” Gorka’s muscly physique and joked he sessions with him have been “awful”.
Brendan quipped: “I’ll let you into a little secret. We have the lovely Gorka stepping in for me for a few days.
“I don’t know how happy I am about it – he’s Spanish, he’s good looking and has a body which is pretty much the best on the show.”
A BBC insider said: “Brendan has choreographed the routine but is resting until Friday as per doctors’ orders.
“So Gorka will be running the routine with Anastasia in training until then.”
Anastacia’s time on ‘Strictly’ has been the subject of controversy after she got injured and was unable to take part in the first dance-off of the series, meaning Melvin Odoom was ejected from the show as he and his partner Janette Manrara received the fewest votes from the public.
The 48-year-old singer was left in agony after she tore mastectomy scar tissue during training.

OHMYGOSSIP — Sue Perkins has branded Paul Hollywood “banal”.
The 47-year-old comedian makes the dig at the baker as he introduces one of the tasks during Wednesday night’s (19.10.16) semi-final episode of ‘The Great British Bake Off’.
Paul, 50, tells contestants: “Remember, it’s the semi-finals. So it’s not only got to taste good, it’s got to look good, too.”
However, Sue doesn’t deem his comments as particularly interest information.
According to The Sun newspaper, she says: “And Paul, I think you have an appointment at Banalities R Us, just over there. Mary, we’ll see you later.”
Sue, co-host Mel Giedroyc, 48, and Paul’s fellow judge Mary Berry, 81, have opted against moving with the show to Channel 4 next year from the BBC, announcing they are stepping down from their roles.
But Paul signed a three-year deal with the channel.
Speaking about his decision to remain on ‘Bake Off’, Paul said: “What can I say? I’m still doing what I’ve always done. I think for me, when they picked me to do the job seven years ago, I was really shocked that I was given the chance to do this programme.
“To see it grow over the years. I just couldn’t walk away from my job. I think it comes down to I love doing my job. I love evangelising about baking and passing the word on and I will carry on doing that.”
Mary admitted she wouldn’t move to Channel 4 out of “loyalty” to the BBC.
She said: “My decision to stay with the BBC is out of loyalty to them, as they have nurtured me, and the show, that was a unique and brilliant format from day one.
“What a privilege and honour it has been to be part of seven years of magic in a tent. I am just sad for the audience who may not be ready for change.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Holly Hagan has quit ‘Geordie Shore’.
The 24-year-old television personality has reportedly decided to turn her back on the reality show after five years on the programme.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Holly formally told producers she was off earlier this month. She’s got her own projects to follow and there’s a whole new cast that’s come in and she’s feeling that it’s really time to move on.
“It ultimately comes down to Charlotte quitting earlier this year prompted her to do something that she’d been thinking about for a while. Producers have asked her to reconsider but so far she’s stuck to her guns.
“Gaz has openly admittedly that he doesn’t see himself on the show beyond next year and wants to leave for a new life in Oz while Vicky Pattison is long gone. Holly feels it’s time to follow suit and make that change.”
And it was previously revealed Holly is struggling on the show as her best friends Charlotte Crosby, Aaron Chalmers and Chantelle Connelly have all quit.
An insider shared at the time: “Over the past few months she’s had to watch her best friend Charlotte quit the show, plus deal with departures from Aaron and Chantelle, too. She’s not totally sure her ‘Geordie Shore’ journey is over yet.”
Holly is also said to be keen to focus her energy on settling down and starting a family.
A source shared: “Holly has had enough and has been telling people she’s done with the show. She wants to concentrate on her fitness brand and living a normal life. She’s only 24 but she’s an old head on young shoulders – she wants to settle down and have a family.”
