Louis Smith to do The Jump

OHMYGOSSIP — Louis Smith has joined the forthcoming series of ‘The Jump’.
The 27-year-old Olympic gymnast was slapped with a two-month ban from the sport last month after he offended some Muslims in a video he posted online but it seems the incident hasn’t stopped him from snapping up work as he’s been asked to take part in the gruelling winter sports competition , filmed on the Austrian slopes, next month.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, he said: “I’ve had some ups and downs in 2016 so am massively looking forward to getting stuck into ‘The Jump’.
“As a professional athlete I’m massively competitive. I love skiing and I’m pretty fearless when it comes to any snow sports so can’t wait to get out there.”
The hunky star – who piled on the pounds when he temporarily retired from gymnastics two years ago – is also hoping the competition will help keep him in shape.
A source told the publication: “It gives him something to do during his suspension and means he can stay in shape while getting paid for his troubles.”
And Louis isn’t the first Olympian to take part in the dangerous competition as his former team mate Beth Tweddle also did it last year but, despite her impressive skills on the ice, it didn’t end well for the gymnast as she broke her back and had to pull out.
Rebecca Adlington – who won gold in the swimming at the Olympics in 2008 – also agreed to slip on her thermals and hit the slopes last January but it ended for sorrow for her too as she dislocated her shoulder and is still battling with the repercussions.
Despite the injuries sustained in the last series, it hasn’t stopped celebrities signing up to do the show, as this year will see Vogue Williams, Lydia Bright and Spencer Matthews go head-to-head on the slopes as they attempt to lift the trophy in February.

Lin-Manuel Miranda reviving Vivo for Sony

OHMYGOSSIP — Lin-Manuel Miranda is reviving ‘Vivo’ for Sony.
The 36-year-old actor-and-composer – who rose to fame as the star of the hit musical ‘Hamilton’ – has written the music for the animated remake, which is set for release in 2020.
Miranda took on the project with his ‘In the Heights’ collaborator Quiara Alegría Hudes, who has penned the script.
After the news was announced, the composer took to Twitter and said he is delighted to pick up the project once more and see it come to fruition.
He said: “I wrote these tunes for Vivo years ago. So thrilled they’ve found a home at @SonyAnimation and I get to play with Quiara again. (sic)”
The idea for making the movie was born six years ago by AnimationDreamworks and will retell the story of a music-loving monkey, who takes a dangerous journey from Havana to Miami to fulfill his destiny.
Before then, he’s producing and writing the music for Disney’s live-action ‘Little Mermaid’ remake and has revealed he was asked to take on the project because he’s the biggest fan of the 1989 original and even named his son Sebastian after the movie’s famous crab.
Speaking about the forthcoming movie, he told Vulture: “This came out of a conversation with Disney, and basically they were like, ‘There’s no bigger fan of this movie than you, and no bigger public supporter.”
Miranda most recently wrote the music for ‘Moana’ and is also co-starring alongside Emily Blunt in the live-action ‘Mary Poppins’ movie.

Darcey Bussell to become Strictly Come Dancing's head judge

OHMYGOSSIP — Darcey Bussell is to be promoted to head judge for the next series of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 47-year-old former ballerina has been a permanent member of the judging panel on the ballroom and latin show since 2012, after taking over from Alesha Dixon, and BBC bosses now say they are keen for her to take over from current head honcho Len Goodman, 72, who bows out of the role after the final results show on Sunday (18.12.16).
A source said: “The executives would like to see a female in the role, and Darcey has established herself as a major figure on the show.
“They wouldn’t be comfortable bringing somebody in over her head. The job is quite a calm and level-headed one, for which Darcey would be perfect — and the viewers love her.”
The move to make Darcey the head – which gives her the power to cast the deciding vote when contestants are axed from the show in the event of a tie between judges – means that longer serving judges Craig Revel Horwood and Bruno Tonioli will remain in their current roles.
However, the BBC insider claims they were “not looking” to take the top spot.
The source added to The Sun newspaper: “Bruno and Craig have both made it clear they’re not looking for a promotion — and Darcey is extremely well thought of.
“They’ll be more than happy to work with her and won’t kick up a fuss.”
A fourth judge is yet be added to the panel to fill the remaining gap.
So far, bosses of the popular dancing competition have refused to name who will be taking up the fourth spot, but show veteran Anton du Beke and former professional Karen Hardy are reportedly the favourites.
The final of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ 2016 will take place this Saturday (17.12.16) when Ore Oduba, Louise Redknapp, and Danny Mac will battle it out for the glitterball trophy.

Lenny Henry's divorce made worse by being in 'public eye'

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Lenny Henry feels fame made his divorce from Dawn French harder than it should have been.
The 58-year-old comedian has opened up about the end of his 25-year marriage to the ‘Vicar of Dibley’ star – who he split up with in 2010 and adopted a daughter together in 1991 – and how much of an impact being in the public eye had on their relationship.
He admitted: “It is a strange job, showbiz, because you are in the public eye. You are in a goldfish bowl. We just got through it like every family does.”
Asked if it was heart-breaking calling time on their marriage, According to The Sun newspaper, he said: “There’s generally a situation where one partner wants the marriage to finish more than the other.
“I think maybe one of us did, then the other one did, and then the other did over a period of time and then, in the end, we thought, ‘Oh, actually maybe we both do’. We knew it wasn’t possible to continue.”
The ‘True Identity’ star also reflected on his parent’s marriage and how “tough” it was for them to go through marital issues without being the spotlight.
He said: “My mum and dad went through stuff and they raised seven of us. It was tough for them and they were not on telly.
“Everybody is interested in you when you are on TV. But when you have got seven kids and you are living in Dudley and you have got nine jobs… nobody cares right?”
Dawn, 59, remarried to charity boss Mark Bignell in 2013, and the buxom brunette says he taught her to be “cheerful” again.
At the time, she said: “I’m maybe not quite as cheerful as you might I imagine.
“Optimism and cheerfulness are a massive gift that many people don’t have.
“I remarried and I married a very cheerful man, and I’ve come to realise just how important cheerfulness is – it’s a wonderful thing.”

Diego Luna: Darth Vader's breathing gives me chills

OHMYGOSSIP — Diego Luna still gets “chills” hearing Darth Vader breathe.
The 36-year-old actor stars as Captain Cassian Andor in the upcoming spin-off to the popular ‘Star Wars’ franchise, ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’, and admits he is still deeply fearful of the Sith Lord.
Asked if he is still afraid of Darth in an interview with HeyUGuys.com, he said: “If I hear his breathing I just get the chills. I’ve been like it since I was like six. Even back then I knew what was going on.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Dirty Dancing 2’ star previously spoke out about how the film is “a beautiful film about unity and celebration”.
He said: “It’s a clear message what this rebel group sends… By leaving differences aside, we can be stronger. By celebrating our differences and understanding that those differences make us richer and stronger and more powerful we can do whatever we want, you know? There is no limits. It’s a beautiful film about unity and celebration.”
But it’s almost a movie that Diego didn’t get to be a part of at all, as he recently admitted he nearly missed a phone call from director Gareth Edwards offering him the role.
He said: “I saw this British number calling me at 2 a.m., and I have family in England, so I thought it was, like, a drunken cousin from a bar or something.
“I ran over and saw that it was Gareth Edwards wanting to give me some news! I just jumped around like crazy – it was quite a special day. [Edwards] said, ‘Okay, welcome to Star Wars.'”

Bryce – who has nine-year-old Theodore and four-year-old Beatrice with her husband Seth Gabel – won the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture for her work on ‘The Help’ in 2012, but was unable to attend as she had given birth to Beatrice just 10 days before the ceremony.

She said: “I sent a picture to the ladies as it was happening of me pumping at home.

“So, the fact that everyone is going to be there is going to be so fun! I get a second chance at it.”
Bryce also opened up about her role in the ‘Nosedive’ instalment of ‘Black Mirror’, claiming it speaks to audiences because it captures the “anxiety” people feel about technology.
She said: “In terms of our relationship to technology and how it affects our lives on a day-to-day basis.
“‘Black Mirror’ in a way — especially ‘Nosedive’ — is a social satire.
“[‘Black Mirror’ creators] Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones really have captured the anxiety we’re all feeling.”

Stephanie Davis rushed to hospital over baby scare

OHMYGOSSIP — Stephanie Davis was rushed to hospital over fears her baby wasn’t moving.
The former ‘Hollyoaks’ actress has revealed she suffered a terrifying health scare, which she claims was as a result of the stress from being left nasty voicemails.
She explained: “I was particularly worried about his [the baby’s] movement last week as he’s not been as active as usual.
“I thought he had just gone quiet because of everything we were going through but the doctor insisted it was better to be safe than sorry so we went to the hospital to get him checked out … Now I’m getting to the end of my pregnancy I’m experiencing all different types of pains and the stress definitely hasn’t helped.”
Fortunately, after being checked out, Stephanie was “relieved” to be given the all clear.
Writing in her blog for OK!, she added: “It was such a relief to hear he was totally fine – he even started to kick and play as soon as they started to watch him!”
Meanwhile, the 23-year-old star – who is having her baby with ex-boyfriend Jeremy McConnell – previously admitted she wanted to film herself giving birth.
She shared: “I had a lovely catch up with Jacqueline Jossa and we spoke about my pregnancy and her little one. She promised me labour wouldn’t be that bad and that everything is worth it in the end. She said it’s such a magical experience and that I’ll want another one after!
“I’m definitely going to take it all on board and make the most of it. I’m even thinking about filming it as it would be nice to have a personal memory to watch back when I want. I think my mum will be too excited to concentrate on filming though!”

Gareth Edwards was 'dreaming' throughout Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

OHMYGOSSIP — Gareth Edwards felt like he was “dreaming” for the whole two years he was working on ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’.
The 41-year-old director is devastated filming for the forthcoming sci-fi flick has come to an end as it means he can no longer pretend he’s standing on the fictional planet Yavin, but is thrilled he was given the opportunity to work on the action film as it’s something he’s longed to do since he was a “five-year-old kid” in his ‘Star Wars’-themed pajamas.
Speaking to Heyuguys.com at the premiere of the upcoming release, Edwards said: “I don’t know if I’m part of the ‘Star Wars’ universe. You sort of get to play in it for two years and then you’ve got to go home back to England. I’d love to stay!
“That’s the heartbreaking thing about coming to the end is that I can’t go back to Yavin anymore or be on the Death Star and so it was kind of a dream come true to be honest.
“Everyone dreams of being part of ‘Star Wars’ and I got to make one. I keep expecting to wake up and being a five year old kid in my ‘Star Wars’ pajamas and it was all a dream.”
Although it was the first time he’s jumped on board the ‘Star Wars’ franchise, Edwards thoroughly enjoyed the “rollercoaster” of emotions he experienced while putting together the space opera film and the memories will stick with him forever.
He explained: “Everything was fun. It was like a whole rollercoaster ride of this film. You have this greatest moment of your life and then it’s really stressful so it’s a complete mixed bag of emotions. There were many moments.”
‘Rogue One’, which stars Felicity Jones and Diego Luna, follows a group of unlikely heroes as they group together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star – the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction.

Lionel Blair 'always' lies about his age

OHMYGOSSIP — Lionel Blair has “always” lied about his age.
The British actor has admitted he has been pretending to be three years younger than he actually is for his entire life, but has finally decided to come clean about how old he is whilst celebrating his 88th birthday this week.
Speaking on ‘Loose Women’ on Wednesday (14.12.16) about how many years he has racked up, the ‘A Hard Day’s Night’ star – whose birthday is on December 12 – said: “I’ve always lied about my age but not now!”
However, the veteran performer has revealed despite telling a little white lie about his age, his hair is real and all his own.
He said: “It’s all my own. That’s what kills people.”
During today’s programme, Lionel was presented with a birthday cake with a miniature figurine, which resembled the star, wearing a suit and top hat perched on the edge of the tasty treat.
Lionel has revealed he would like nothing more than to follow in the footsteps of fellow actor Kirk Douglas, who hit a major milestone of 100 years old last week.
He said: “I want to live to as long as Kirk Douglas!”
And the star has hinted his hectic lifestyle and heavy work schedule is the secret to keeping him feeling young and, although he he hasn’t been offered many acting roles lately, he believes he will be inundated with work commitments in the New Year.
He said: “I am booked up through January. I’ve got to keep working. The phone doesn’t always go. I’m just back from India.”
Lionel has recently returned from India where he filmed the forthcoming series of the ‘Real Exotic marigold Hotel’, which was inspired on the 2011 film featuring Dame Judi Dench, alongside Amanda Barrie, Dennis Taylor, Rustie Lee, Doctor Miriam Stoppard, Bill Oddie, Sheila Ferguson and actor Paul Nicholas.

Sebastian Stan to star in I, Tonya

OHMYGOSSIP — Sebastian Stan is set to star in the forthcoming ‘I, Tonya’ biopic.
The ‘Captain America: Civil War’ actor has agreed to play Jeff Gillooly – the ex-husband of the titular character – opposite Margot Robbie, who will portray the lead, in the blockbuster based on figure skater Tonya Harding, according to Variety.com.
‘I, Tonya’ will document one of the most infamous scandals in sporting history as it follows the true story of Tonya and her husband when they plotted to attack her rival Nancy Kerrigan before the US Figure Skating Championships in 1994.
The conniving couple secretly hired a thug to break Nancy’s leg so that she had no choice but to pull out of the then-upcoming Winter Olympics but, despite her injuries, the pair went on to compete against one another in highly publicised sporting event.
Nancy remarkably won the silver medal in the Games and, after details of the crime – known as The Whack Heard Round the World due to the fact she was clubbed around the knee with a baton – came to light, Tonya was dished out a sporting lifetime ban.
Her husband Jeff, on the other hand, was handed a two-year prison sentence.
As well as her lead role in the blockbuster, Robbie will help produce the film alongside her boyfriend Tom Ackerley, while Craig Gillespie will direct based on a screenplay penned by Steven Rogers.
Filming for ‘I, Tonya’ is expected to kick off in January.

Carley Stenson for Strictly Come Dancing?

OHMYGOSSIP — Carley Stenson is being lined up to take part in ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ next year.
The former ‘Hollyoaks’ actress – who was known for playing blonde bombshell Stephanie Cunningham in the soap – has spent the past three months supporting her fiancé Danny Mac as he battled it out week-in week-out for the glitterball trophy but it seems she may finally get her chance to shine as bosses want her for the next series.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Both parties have arranged to speak in the new year about making her desire to follow Danny’s sensational footsteps in this year’s series.”
And it seems the 34-year-old star will have no trouble settling in to the dance family next year as she’s already struck up a close bond with many of the professionals – including Danny’s current training and show partner Oti Mabuse and her husband.
An insider explained: “The two couples have been enjoying regular nights out together.”
However, Carley was no doubt worried about Danny taking part in the competition when he was approached earlier this year as her ex-boyfriend Ricky Whittle dumped her after he reportedly grew close to his dance partner Natalie Lowe when he did the show in 2009.
The source said: “Carley has always wanted to do the show but there had been a kind of shadow hanging over her from the Ricky days – despite her saying they weren’t that close when they split up. But she has now been a real part of the ‘Strictly’ family for the last four months.
“During that time she has eradicated any possible awkwardness to Australian Natalie and it is a definite case of both her and the BBC planning for a role for her next year.”
Carley will no doubt be sitting at the front of the audience this weekend when Danny goes head-to-head with Ore Oduba and Louise Redknapp in the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ final.

Jessica Cunningham wants to join Celebrity Big Brother

OHMYGOSSIP — Jessica Cunningham wants to appear on ‘Celebrity Big Brother’.
The ‘Apprentice’ contestant has hinted that she could be returning to the screens once her stint on Lord Sugar’s BBC business show is over this week, as she hopes to appear in the forthcoming special ‘Gold Stars vs All Stars’ series of the reality hit.
She said: “At this point in my life I want to embrace every opportunity that comes my way. I’m so lucky to be on ‘The Apprentice’, it is a career platform and whatever opportunity comes my way I’ve just got to embrace it.
“I’d like to be in the ‘CBB’ house – I think going in there would be life changing.”
And while she hopes to bring her wacky and outspoken personality to the infamous house, Jessica – who is a single mother to three children -doesn’t think a romance could be on the cards with any housemates as she believes men are “scared” of her.
She said: “Guys have always been scared of me, they think I’m a nut head.”
The 30-year-old former stripper also believes that while she is currently in the running to win Lord Sugar’s £250,000 investment for her fashion business venture, she doesn’t see herself as a big celebrity star and is only known locally.
She told the Daily Star newspaper: “I wouldn’t say I’m a celebrity. Up north people look at me as if they don’t know it’s me but down south people go crazy – I love it.”
The brunette beauty could join the show in January alongside rumoured housemates Lee Ryan, reality TV couple Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, Katie Hopkins, outspoken model Jasmine Lennard and former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professional James Jordan, who have all appeared in the flamboyant abode in previous years.

Len Goodman didn't want Darcey Bussell to join Strictly Come Dancing

OHMYGOSSIP — Len Goodman didn’t want Darcey Bussell to join ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The ballroom and latin show’s head judge was really “worried” when he found out the former ballet dancer was going to be sitting next to him on the tough-talking panel in 2012 because he assumed, judging by her upbringing, she’d be too “posh” for him, but he was pleasantly surprised and will miss her dearly when he walks around from the programme this weekend.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’ on Wednesday (14.12.16), he explained: “Darcey, I was so worried when Darcey was going to be one of the judges because I thought she was going to be all posh, la de da and yet she’s the most charming, lovely person.”
The 72-year-old choreographer has spent the past 12 years on the BBC show but has decided now seems like the right time to turn his back on it because he wants to leave on a high.
He said: “It’s the right thing to do because I’d rather leave and people say, ‘Oh we’re going to miss you Len.’ Rather than, ‘Thank heavens that old boy is leaving.’ I’ve done 12 years and it’s been wonderful.”
However, he’s convinced he’ll be struck down with deep feelings of nostalgia when the programme returns next year with a new judge sitting in his seat.
He said recently: “What I’m gonna miss is turning up at the studio and [having] the expectation of what’s going to happen,” he said. “[I’ll miss] meeting up with the other judges because we get along great. Craig [Revel Horwood], Darcey [Bussell], Bruno [Tonioli] – we have such a laugh… That’s what I will miss. As much as I’m sure this is the right time to go, I bet when next year comes around I’ll be sitting in doors and thinking, ‘I was daft’. It’s the right time.”
Len may be hanging up his paddle board for good in the UK, but the US will still get to enjoy the loveable judge for at least another year on ‘Dancing With the Stars’, but he has hinted that he may retire from that show too next year.
He said with a sigh: “You sign an annual contract with the BBC, but in America I have signed a two-year contract.”

Scarlett Moffatt to have own TV show

OHMYGOSSIP — Scarlett Moffatt wants to land her own reality TV show.
The ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ winner is determined to take advantage of the success she’s acquired from her stint in the jungle earlier this month and is planning to secure her own series with her boyfriend Luke Crodden based on their lives.
A source told Closer magazine: “Scarlett is on cloud nine. She was a homebody but she’s always wanted to be in the limelight. She’s determined to make the most of her title as Queen of the Jungle and has started surrounding herself with people who can help take her to the top of the showbiz world. She’s got lots of new people in her PR and management team, who are setting up many meetings.”
And it seems Luke – who has been dating the former ‘Gogglebox’ star for 12 months – is determined to do all he can to ensure the brunette beauty gets what she wants in life.
The insider explained: “Luke appreciates that Scarlett is the star of their relationship but if there was an opportunity to work together, he’d jump at the chance. For now, they’re looking forward to a quiet Christmas surrounded by family.”
And the 26-year-old reality TV star isn’t limiting herself as she’d like to follow in the footsteps of last year’s jungle winner Vicky Pattison by securing a guest presenting gig on the lunchtime chat show ‘Loose Women’ or host ‘This Morning’ occasionally.
The source added: “She looks up to celebs like Katie Price and Vicky Pattison and would love to follow in their footsteps and present shows like ‘This Morning’ and ‘Loose Women’. The opportunities have already started pouring in.”
And it’s not just television work that has come off the back of the jungle, as it’s thought Scarlett has been offered a publishing deal for her own autobiography.
