Wes Anderson starts filming new Isle of Dogs animated movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Wes Anderson has started filming the ‘Isle of Dogs’.
The 47-year-old director – who has previously helmed the 2009 animation ‘Fantastic Mr Fox’ – will team up with an A-list cast that includes Yoko Ono, Bill Murray, Scarlett Johansson, Bryan Cranston and Tilda Swinton, and has revealed his involvement in the project through a video message to fans.
He said: “I am officially here today to announce the start of my new film which is called ‘Isle of Dogs’. It’s an animated movie, we’re shooting it in England.”
Wes, who is the writer and director of the movie, lists the lengthy cast, which also includes Frances McDormand, Jeff Goldblum, Harvey Keitel, Greta Gerwig, Bob Balaban, F. Murray Abraham, Akira Ito, Akira Takayama, Koyu Rankin and Courtney B. Vance.
In the video clip, as Wes reels off the cast, Edward Norton video-bombs his recording just as the director is struggling to remember all the names of those involved.
Wes is forced to explain: “Edward plays one of the dogs.”
But Ed clarified when he stressed: “One of the lead dogs actually”.
Wes continued: “Yeah it’s an important dog in the story, named Rex. It’s quite right. You know Edward, we shot one of your dogs scenes today,” before he previewed the clip which features a quick shot of the dog character.
The duo previously collaborated on 2012’s ‘Moonrise Kingdom’ and 2014’s ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’.
Meanwhile, Wes also announced a fundraising contest with Crowdrise to support The Film Foundation – a non-profit organisation whose proceeds benefit film preservation and restoration, founded by Martin Scorsese.
In exchange for support, Wes is giving one winner the chance to visit the set and to have the opportunity of being one of the voices in ‘Isle of Dogs’.
He explained: “Movies don’t last forever, somebody’s got to see to it that they do and sometimes they have to be brought back from the dead and The Film Foundation is about protecting, giving us the chance to see all these movies.
“There are a lot of movies out there that we haven’t seen and it’s a very important, great organisation.”

Doctor Strange creator Jon Spaihts keen to pen sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Doctor Strange’ creator Jon Spaihts would be “delighted” to write a sequel.
The 66-year-old screenwriter worked on the money-spinning Marvel movie, which is based on neurosurgeon-turned-sorcerer Stephen Strange, and has confirmed he wants to be involved with a ‘Doctor Strange’ sequel.
Asked about the possibility of a sequel, Jon told The Playlist: “I think Marvel would certainly be very receptive. Everything in Hollywood is a function of schedules, so it would be a matter of that thing coming around at a time when I can make some availability and everybody else’s timetables work out.
“I imagine they would be receptive to collaborating again, and I would certainly be delighted to get back for the workshop.”
Benedict Cumberbatch plays the lead in ‘Doctor Strange’ and stars alongside Tilda Swinton and Rachel McAdams.
When asked what he would like to see in Strange’s world in the upcoming movies, he replied: “In different comic lines we’ve explored different threads. There’s so many ways to talk about sorcery. I’d want to look at one of those.
“But it’s really about matchmaking a school of magic with a villain, an antagonist, and there’s a few amazing ones that I’d love to see him meet. That’s what it would be about.”
Earlier this year, it was confirmed that ‘Doctor Strange’ is Marvel’s biggest solo movie.
The superhero film – which features Benedict Cumberbatch in the titular role – has grossed more than $616 million worldwide, surpassing the $585 million made by ‘Iron Man’ in 2008, to become the studio’s highest-grossing solo character debut motion picture of all time.

The Only Way Is Essex cast angry after format change

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ cast have been left “angry” after ITV bosses change the format of the show.
The ITVbe reality show has been running since 2010, and usually consists of three 12-episode series each year, however a change in the show’s format would mean the programme would instead run for two 18-episode series a year, and not everyone is happy about the change.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Producers are changing the running of the show into a ‘living soap’ so it will air for a two to three-month period instead of four to five weeks at a time.
“The decision has left some members of the cast angry as they believe the increase of hours on set will mean that they won’t have time to fulfil their other promotional and branding work.”
And although the change to the format does not make a difference to the total number of episodes shown to viewers each year, the longer filming stints mean some cast members are worried it will be “too gruelling”.
The insider continued: “Some cast members are also concerned that the demands will be too gruelling so have asked for a pay rise.
“Their feeling is that if producers want them to work as soap stars then they want to be paid like soap stars.”
However, a show insider denied claims of over working the cast, saying the new format will give them a longer break between filming stints to work on their own projects.
They told the publication: “The new schedule gives them longer periods off filming and a break mid-series so is much better for them being unable to undertake other work.”
Sources also fear that the changes to the show could see more of their cast quit the show, after former member Danielle Armstrong made her final appearance in Monday’s (19.12.16) Christmas special.

Reality TV bidding war over Jonathan Cheban

OHMYGOSSIP — Jonathan Cheban is at the centre of a reality TV show bidding war.
The best friend of Kim Kardashian West is being courted by Channel 5 for a return to ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ and by E4, who are keen to have him star on ‘Celebs Go Dating’.
A source told MailOnline: “Both Channel 5 and E4 know that Jonathan is a key part of success for any show he does.
“He has been heavily rumoured for ‘Celebs Go Dating’ but ‘CBB’ bosses have got wind of this and are keen to sign him so he can complete a run in the show – he quit last year leaving viewers wanting more.
“Jonathan can command big bucks so it’s literally a bidding war to secure him. It’s late in the day for both shows so it’s just a case of whoever comes up with the most cash and the right deal.
“When Jonathan is on a show you know you get the Kardashian seal of approval. Last year before he went into ‘CBB’ Kim announced he was going in ahead of the launch night which caused social media chaos.”
It was previously claimed that ‘Celebs Go Dating’ bosses had pulled out all the stops to get Jonathan onboard, as they see him as the “star” of the programme.
A source said: “Jonathan will be the highest profile star on the reality show and securing someone of his calibre comes at a cost and a certain amount of expectations on the show’s producers.
“Jonathan has demanded a private jet to bring him and his entourage to the UK and a suite for the duration at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel which costs up to £5,000 per night – a total cost of £300,000 for the two months he will stay in the UK.
“Show bosses are referring to him as their star of the show and are set to meet his demands at any cost to ensure he is happy.
“Bosses are also set to secure Jonathan his own personal driver for his time on the show.”

Danny Boyle's guilt over Ewan McGregor snub

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Boyle still feels guilty for casting Leonardo DiCaprio in ‘The Beach’ over Ewan McGregor.
The pair fell out over the 2000 movie, despite a previously close friendship, and although they are on good terms now and working on a new ‘Trainspotting’ movie together, Danny admitted he had treated his friend badly.
He told Empire: “We weren’t particularly respectful towards him, way back in the day. But he’s always been very, very generous. So we met and talked and I said how sorry I was, the way we had treated him. And it rebuilt from there.”
And Ewan insisted their friendship and working relationship has come full circle.
He said: “I hadn’t seen Danny for all those years. He f****d off, and I f*****d off. I haven’t lived in Scotland since I was 17.
“He’s coming back, I was coming back. There were an awful lot of parallels you might say.”
Meanwhile, Ewan previously admitted he was hurt when Danny opted for Leonardo over him for ‘The Beach’,
He said: “I felt at that time that as an actor I was part of the new wave of something. I was lucky to be Danny’s actor, and I felt part of something that was bigger than all our careers with ‘Shallow Grave’ and ‘Trainspotting’ less so, perhaps, with ‘A Life Less Ordinary’. I felt we’d left our mark on British cinema.
“So when we were approaching ‘The Beach’, I thought I was playing that role and I was encouraged to think so; I was told for many months I would be doing it; and then I was told I wouldn’t. And I was mystified and it had been handled badly, and whatever. But it hurt me very much at the time. I was rocked a bit, and my confidence was dented. And I didn’t quite understand why they went down that path when I thought we were about something else. I understood when it came down to dollars. But it was a Hollywood version of something we weren’t really about.”

Michael Fassbender offered role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Fassbender was offered a role on ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’.
The 39-year-old actor has revealed he was originally in talks with the movie’s director J.J. Abrams for a role in the sci-fi feature, but was forced to turn the opportunity down as he was “busy” during the summer in which the production began taking place.
Speaking to Josh Horowitz on his ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast, Michael said: “We talked about a role. We had a conversation. I’m pretty sure I was busy doing something else in the summer he was kick-starting that.”
It wouldn’t be the first foray Michael has had into the world of blockbuster franchises, as he is set to star in ‘Alien: Covenant’ – the next instalment in the ‘Alien’ franchise, and the follow up to ‘Prometheus’ in which he also starred – next year, and is also widely known for his role as Magneto in the ‘X-Men’ movies.
But deciding not to get involved with another big franchise might have been a good idea for the star, as he recently admitted he was planning on taking a break from acting.
He said previously: “It’s been pretty full on. I had a ferocious appetite and energy for it, and I went at it like a maniac. But I’m going to take some downtime now. The last five years, I was verging on being a workaholic. I’ve just been going from film to film.”
And whilst the Hollywood hunk is planning on returning to the spotlight in the future, he also claimed he wouldn’t rule out quitting his job all together.
When asked if he would ever stop acting, Michael told the publication: “I’m not ruling it out. I’m not saying it’s going to happen, but a part of me thinks you have a time as an actor when you’re at your best. There’s a journey to it, and then it’s downhill.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Clare Balding has never cooked Christmas dinner.
The 45-year-old sports presenter and her partner Alice Arnold love to entertain people at their home, but Clare doesn’t get involved in the kitchen and takes charge of drinks instead.
She said: “I have never cooked a Christmas lunch and I don’t plan to start.
“Alice and I are entertainers and I’m in charge of the wine.”
Clare is devoted to her partner and says she is the only person who never annoys her.
She said “My partner Alice is my best friend. She’s about the only person I can spent 24 hours a day with, day after day, without them annoying me.
“I trust her judgement and she makes me laugh.”
The popular presenter doesn’t care about other people’s opinions and would never look herself up online.
She said: “I’m not interested in what other people think. But I don’t think anything aout me surprises others, Alice always tells me I’m an open book.
“I don’t look at anything about myself [online]. You’d be mad to do so! You have to learn to protect yourself from what’s out there.”
Though Clare is happy with her life with Alice, she does regret not going to work out in the US when she had the opportunity to.
Asked her biggest regret, she said: “A few years ago, I was asked to go and work abroad in America but said no because of what I might miss back here. I should have done it.”

Austin Armacost to return to Big Brother

OHMYGOSSIP — Austin Armacost is returning to ‘Celebrity Big Brother’.
The 28-year-old model is excited to be returning to the famous house for the upcoming ‘Gold Stars vs All Stars’ series in January, and is only disappointed his friend James Hill – who won the show when they competed in summer 2015 – won’t be taking part too.
A source told The Sun: “Austin can’t wait to enter the ‘Big Brother’ house again.
“He really enjoyed his time in there and is looking forward to the new challenge.
“He’s just gutted that James Hill won’t be joining him.”
A number of past housemates are expected to return for the new series, but one person who won’t be is controversial blogger Perez Hilton, after Channel 5 bosses refused to double the fee he received for his first stint in January 2015.
his podcast Perez explained how he found his appearance on CBB in 2015 “traumatic” and that money was the only incentive for him.
He said on his podcast: “Yes, I have been asked to do it and I told them I would do it if the price was right.
“And the price was not right, OK! It was way off.
“I wanted to get paid double and I think I’m worth it.
“I am the most talked about housemate in the history of ‘Big Brother’.
“Statistics show that. I was on the most popular season in like seven or eight years.”
Meanwhile, show bosses have released a teaser for one of the new housemates.
The mystery male star said in the clip: “I was fortunate enough to be part of the biggest music revolution that’s ever happened.
“I like to think of myself as a bit of an all-rounder. Jack of all trades. Master of none.”
Fans have been speculating it is rapper Fatman Scoop – who appeared in the same series as Austin and James – as he is currently in the UK.

Scarlett Moffatt sent kitchen up in flames watching Countdown

OHMYGOSSIP — Scarlett Moffatt once set her family’s kitchen on fire because she was so “engrossed” watching Carol Vorderman on ‘Countdown’.
The ‘Gogglebox’ star and the 55-year-old mathematician competed on this year’s series of ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’, and the brunette beauty – who was crowned queen of the jungle – has revealed she almost burnt her parent’s house down a few years ago because she left her junk food in the oven too long after getting spellbound by Carol on the Channel 4 show.
Speaking about her love for the busty beauty on ‘Alan Carr’s Christmas Chatty Man’ on Sunday (25.12.16), she said: “I mean, sitting next to Carol Vorderman in a Big Bush Bake Off (jungle task). That is what dreams are made of. Never did I think this would happen.
“I was sat next to her while she was eating a turkey knacker. I was like, ‘This is my life’. How amazing! You are eating a knacker in front of us, Carol. And actually because of Carol, well not personally Carol, I actually set my kitchen on fire. I got that engrossed in a game of ‘Countdown’ I forgot I put potato wedges and a burger on. My mam went mad at us because when the fireman came … Oh it was proper serious, we had to get our kitchen refitted! They asked if we were all right and I said, ‘hungry’. My mam was like, ‘That is not even funny Scarlett’.”
Meanwhile, the 26-year-old beauty is determined to stay in touch with all of her camp mates because they all got on so well when they were thrown into the jungle together this month.
She said: “Literally all of them. We have a WhatsApp group and the night that we got back it was 3.30am and I said, ‘Missing you all and my hammock’ and one by one everyone was replying. We have organised to meet up for food and we genuinely like each other. It’s not pretending. We genuinely really, really like each other.”
‘Alan Carr’s Christmas Chatty Man’ airs on Christmas Day (25.12.16) at 10.30pm on Channel 4.

Charlotte Crosby's hook up with Alex Mytton

OHMYGOSSIP — Charlotte Crosby hooked up with Alex Mytton in the summer.
The 26-year-old reality TV star bonded with the ‘Made in Chelsea’ hunk at Cannes Lions festival in France earlier this year and stayed in bed with him for a really “long time.”
Speaking to Jamie Laing on his annual E4 Christmas show ‘In Bed With Jamie’, Charlotte said: “There was a spoon, I’m sure there was. We were in bed a long time.
“There was a lot of spooning, because that’s all that happened … We were definitely not naked.”
The blonde beauty and the 25-year-old heartthrob set tongues wagging six months ago when they were spotted getting up close and personal in front of fans at the star-studded event.
A source said at the time: “They shared an instant chemistry. It was obvious that they were going to hook-up, if they hadn’t already. They then left together.”
However, Charlotte is no doubt a little more fearful when she jumps into relationships with people because she was left heartbroken earlier this year when she split with Gary ‘Gaz’ Beadle.
She explained: “I joined ‘Geordie Shore’ when I was 20, so my love story with Gaz has been going on for five years. We didn’t work out because he’s a massive kn*b. He’s a serial cheater and he will never, ever stay with one girl …
“I’m the person who does the bad things on a date. I once told someone that I’d p***** the bed. And I told them that I regularly wet the bed. They said “It’s fine, I do it too.”

Jim Davidson brands Michael McIntrye a 'c**t'

OHMYGOSSIP — Jim Davidson has branded Michael McIntrye a “****”.
The 63-year-old comedian has slammed the fellow funnyman and hopes his tour ’40 Years On’ will put other “young” entertainers, who don’t find him entertaining, in their place and realise “all the things” he has achieved over his four-decade career.
Speaking about his upcoming gig and his 40-year-old rival on Kent News, the former ‘Big Break’ host said: “It’s how I earn my money. It’s a long time to be in show business, and it’s a way to say to all these young c**ts like [Michael] McIntyre and others who don’t think I’m funny but do think I’m a racist ‘look at what I’ve done, and all the things that I’ve done’.”
During Jim’s outburst he subtly hit out at music mogul Simon Cowell for launching talent shows to boost his reputation, which he claims his programme ‘New Faces’ didn’t do.
The star – who has children Cameron, Fred, Sarah, Elsie and Charlie – explained: “Shows like ‘The X Factor’ and ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ just make the judges like Simon Cowell look good. It’s about amateurs trying to be good at something.
“‘New Faces’ wasn’t like that, it wasn’t about the judges. It was professional comedians trying to get work.”
Meanwhile, Jim has hinted he was surprised to win ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ in 2014 and was thrilled he left the house to be greeted by hoards of people “cheering” for him.
Speaking previously he said: “All the people cheering … especially as I’ve been nominated more times than ‘Gone With The Wind’ … I got saved by these people and the people at home. I thought I’d stand my ground and just be me.”

Yoko Ono cast in Isle of Dogs

OHMYGOSSIP — Yoko Ono has been cast in Wes Anderson’s new movie.
The 83-year-old artist – who is best-known as the widow of Beatles legend John Lennon – is poised to feature among a star-studded cast in the award-winning director’s new animated movie called ‘Isle of Dogs’.
Other big-name stars set to feature include Bill Murray, Scarlett Johansson, Bryan Cranston and Edward Norton, with the movie set to shoot in England.
Wes previously admitted that he would love to cast Gene Hackman in a new movie, having worked with the 86-year-old actor on his acclaimed comedy-drama movie ‘The Royal Tenenbaums’ in 2001.
But Wes explained that despite his best efforts, Gene has shown no inclination to return to make another movie.
He previously shared: “I have a character that I have even written some scenes for that I think he’d be really great for but he doesn’t really talk to me.
“So it’s not like I can email him and I’ll get back, ‘I don’t know Wes, I’ll think about it!’ I won’t hear nothing. So I don’t know if I could convince him.
“He also retired right in front of me. It wasn’t like he finished ‘The Royal Tenenbaums’ and said, ‘Point me to the next one’. He finished the movie and said, ‘I’m finished!'”
But on another of Wes’ movies, ‘Moonrise Kingdom’, the director hired a house that several people – including Bill Murray and Ed Norton – stayed in, as he tried to foster a family feeling among the cast.

Blade Runner 2049 director reveals pressure

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Blade Runner 2049’ will be “one of the most expensive R-rated independent feature films ever made”.
The much-anticipated sci-fi movie is being helmed by Denis Villeneuve, who has confirmed that the film – which stars Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling – will cost an eye-watering amount of money to make.
He shared: “My producers are finding it fun to remind me that it will be one of the most expensive R-rated independent feature films ever made.”
Denis also revealed that he wants the movie to feature a minimal amount of CGI.
The director told Screen Daily: “I can count on my fingers the amount of times we put a green screen on set. Most of the movie was done on camera, me and [cinematographer] Roger Deakins worked very hard to do it that way.
“My actors were not walking on green screens all day long. CGI is a strong tool for backgrounds and extensions but what is around the actors needs to be as real as possible. When I watch a movie that’s mostly CGI, I’m disengaged.”
‘Blade Runner 2049’ is currently in the process of being edited, and Denis has admitted he is keen to work on another sci-fi movie as soon as possible.
The director also suggested he could return for another ‘Blade Runner’ movie.
He said: “I’m doomed, I love sci-fi. I have two more ideas now that I would love to do. [And] ‘Blade Runner’ could go on… we’ll see how this one goes.”

Pointless laptop isn't switched on

OHMYGOSSIP — The ‘Pointless’ laptop has never been switched on.
It’s been believed for years that the show’s quiz master Richard Osman uses the electronic device to check answers after each round but fans will no doubt be shocked to learn that the gadget isn’t actually plugged in and is only on the desk as a prop.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “The computer has never been switched on and Richard doesn’t even know what’s on it. He arrived on set and found it there and has never been asked by producers to do anything with it but use it as a prop.
“The machine is not even plugged in to anything. The only people who touch it are the cleaners and prop masters who come in to dust it during recordings.”
‘Pointless’, which is presented by Alexander Armstrong and is now in its 16th series, first hit television screens in 2009 and sees contestants give up the most obscure answers to general knowledge questions in a bid to win the prize money.
Richard has appeared on the programme since it first hit screens seven years ago and recently turned down a mega-money deal to appear in next month’s series of ‘The Jump’ because he believes the format was “100 per cent” pinched from one made by production giants Endemol, where he is creative director.
He said recently: “Just got asked if I’d consider appearing on ‘The Jump’. Considering it was 100% ripped off from an Endemol format it’s a possible no from me.
“Been working in TV for 25 years, similar ideas swim round all the time ‘The Jump’ is the only time I’ve genuinely felt wronged by others. (sic)”
The 45-year-old presenter didn’t divulge which show he believes ‘The Jump’ was “ripped from” but it’s believed he may be referring to his series ‘The Games’.
The latter show ran on Channel 4 from 2003 until 2006 and saw celebrities compete in Olympic-style events such as gymnastics, diving, weight-lifting, kayaking and hurdles.
‘The Jump’ – which was initially called ‘The Alpine Games’ – has a very similar layout in that stars compete in winter sports including ski jumping, skeleton and bobsleigh.
However, a representative from Twofour – which produces the popular show – is adamant they never took anyone else’s idea and it’s completely “original.”

Sun and sea but no Christmas tree for Bruno Tonioli

OHMYGOSSIP — Bruno Tonioli will spend Christmas on a beach.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ judge has jetted off to “the tropics” and ditched the traditional festive “trimmings” every year since his mum and dad passed away and now doesn’t bother even putting up a tree over the festive season.
Asked what he’ll be up to on December 25, the 61-year-old star revealed: “Since my parents died I’m always in the tropics. I love the sun and swimming and I just love the warmth and the colour of the sea. It is like rebooting the system. And, no, I don’t miss all the trimmings. Done it, been there, bought the cake.”
While Bruno is sipping fruity cocktails on a sandy beach in an exotic place, viewers will see him on the ‘Strictly’ Christmas special which airs on BBC 1 on Christmas Day.
He’ll also grace screens on Boxing Day (26.12.16) as the host of ‘West Side Stories: The Making of a Classic,’ a documentary about the making of the hit iconic dance musical, and quipped it has influenced him since before he was born.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I was practically a foetus when it was made, darling. The images of the dancing that;s the thing that stuck in your mind. like nothing I’d ever seen before.”
Meanwhile, the professional Italian dancer – who has been a judge on ‘Strictly’ since it began 12 years ago – shocked fans by admitting he doesn’t know if he’ll return to the ballroom and latin show next year because he isn’t “under contract” and isn’t ready to make his decision yet.
He said: “Am I tempted to leave? I don’t know.
“Anyway, I’m not under contract with the BBC and where ‘Strictly’ is concerned, conversations only start around May or June. Before that, everybody is so exhausted, nothing will be said or done until the end of spring.”

Pauline Quirke won't do reality TV show

OHMYGOSSIP — Pauline Quirke would never take part in a reality TV show.
The ‘Birds of a Feathers’ star has been approached on numerous occasions to spill the beans on her life on screen but she’s turned it down every time thus far because no amount of cash can persuade her to sign up – partly because of her health.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, she said: “I’ve been asked to do things. I like watching them but I’d never be on them, no matter what the price.
“I’ve had a hip replacement and a knee replacement, I can’t do ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and I couldn’t be putting stuff in my mouth. I just couldn’t do it.”
The 57-year-old actress underwent an operation on her hip seven years ago after she started experiencing excruciating pain and she was diagnosed with osteoarthritis.
She said at the time: “I was filming BBC TV’s afternoon drama series ‘Missing’ … I play Det. Supt. Mary Jane Croft and was in every scene. But it became increasingly difficult for me to get in and out of my police car, walk up and down the stairs, or rush into one of the various detectives’ offices. The pain was so bad, I was hobbling about. It was ridiculous – and hardly gave off the right impression for a senior detective!”
But the pain in her hip began to spread down to other joints – due to the position she was walking in – and she was told by specialists she’d need surgery on her knee too.
She explained: “He showed me the X-rays and I could see my right knee looked as if it had fragments of cartilage floating around. But I was told one of my hips was far more of a problem. Although the left one was perfectly normal, as good as dancer Darcy Bussell’s any day, the right one had no cartilage between the socket and the cup, and the sockets were grinding on each other.”
