John Partridge: Celebrity Big Brother 'nearly killed' me!

OHMYGOSSIP — John Partridge says his stint on ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ “nearly killed” him.
The ‘EastEnders’ star – who plays Christian Clarke in the BBC Soap – was a contestant in this year’s series of the reality show, and faced negative comments from the public after he was seen telling his fellow housemates to gang up against Tiffany Pollard, in order to try and make her quit the show.
Now, the 45-year-old actor has said there was “no way” he would have accepted an offer to take part in 2017’s All Star vs New Blood series – which sees previous contestants battle it out against house newbies – as he found the house “brutal” the first time round.
He said: “There’s no way I would have done the new series, no way.
“It nearly killed me – taking part in the show earlier this year was brutal.”
And John – who went into the house in order to raise money for his 80-year-old mum Bridget who suffers with Alzheimer’s and Dementia – also admitted he was tempted to “walk out” on a number of occasions.
He added: “There were so many times I wanted to walk out the door but if you do that then you don’t get paid.
“The care for [Bridget’s] illnesses is expensive and I don’t come from money.
“I knew I needed to make that cheque.
“There were definitely nights where I would lie there and think – I can’t do this.”
But despite not always enjoying his time in the house, John says he made “good friends” with contestants Kristina Rihanoff and Scotty T.
He told The Sun newspaper: “It was brutal. It is not for the faint-hearted.
“But that being said – I did make some good friends in there.
“I’ve seen Kristina Rihanoff a lot of times.
“Scotty T I’ve seen him a lot. We’re really good mates and hung out a lot. I’ve been in Newcastle quite a bit as well and it’s been a nice to spend time with him.
“I did make some really good friends in there and friends I’ve carried on to see. It wasn’t all bad but psychologically it was really rough. It was really hard.”

Scarlett Johansson named top grossing actor of 2016

OHMYGOSSIP — Scarlett Johansson is the top grossing actor of 2016.
The 32-year-old actress’ movies including ‘Captain America: Civil War’ and ‘Hail, Caesar’ have brought in a total of $1.2 billion at the global box office, putting Scarlett amongst the most bankable stars in the world.
According to Forbes, Scarlett’s ‘Avengers’ co-stars Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr were just behind her on the list, with $1.15 billion.
‘Suicide Squad’ star Margot Robbie was fourth, followed by ‘Batman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ stars Amy Adams, Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill.
Rounding out the Top 10 were Ryan Reynolds, who stars in ‘Deadpool’, Felicity Jones for ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ and Margot’s ‘Suicide Squad’ co-star Will Smith.
Meanwhile, Scarlett recently revealed what draws her to a film role.
She said: “I look for projects with filmmakers who want to make things that give the audience a fresh experience.
“I’ve always been very competitive, and a part of that is pushing your boundaries – taking a risk, and being able to live with the loss that comes with taking a risk.”
The ‘Captain America: Civil War’ star also explained the rule she lives by when choosing her characters, which have included playing Kaa in the newest adaption of ‘The Jungle Book’ and the Black Widow in a number of Marvel movies.
She said: “I’ve always had the same principle for choosing roles, which is to try and make movies that I would pay to see. As I get older that’s meant different things.
“I’ve never been a superhero-comic fan exactly. I did ‘Iron Man 2’ because I loved what [the director Jon] Favreau did with ‘Iron Man.’ It spoke to me as someone who was not a fan of that genre, and I saw a future in building a character with Marvel.”

Ben Mendelsohn: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story could have been 'vastly different'

OHMYGOSSIP — Ben Mendelsohn says ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ could have told a “vastly different” story.
The 47-year-old actor – who plays villain Director Orson Krennic in the spin-off movie to the popular sci-fi franchise – has revealed that many of the scenes in the movie were filmed more than once in order to have “multiple readings” of the plot when going in to the edit room.
He said: “We did have multiple, multiple ways of going at any given scenario, we had multiple readings of it.
“So should they ever decided to, there would be a wealth of ways of approaching these different things.
“And I know from having seen sort of the crucial kind of scenes throughout it, I know there’s vastly different readings of at least four of those scenes.”
And Ben claims there was a possibility for “enormous differences” in as many as 30 of the scenes.
When asked if these scenes would create an alternate cut of the entire film, he added: “Absolutely, with enormous differences within I would’ve said 20 or 30 of the scenes.
“There really would be. There would be enormously different renderings.”
Upon seeing the finished version of the movie – which stars Felicity Jones as protagonist Jyn Erso – Ben admits he is surprised to see which versions of the scenes director Gareth Edwards decided to use.
He told Collider.com: “There were a couple of times I was like, ‘Oh wow! He went with that. That one, yeah. Ok, I get it.’
“Because there were some scenes that I had seen as we were constructing and thinking about doing it this way or that way, and I had seen various scenes where we would come in and done something.
“And I’d seen the scene and it was cut this particular way and so we did the ADR, and then when I saw it the other day I was like, “Oh wow! That all -Yeah now it goes like this.” So there is a bunch.”

Forest Whitaker's armour connection

OHMYGOSSIP — Forest Whitaker connected with his ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ character as soon as he donned his armour for the first time.
The 55-year-old actor portrays Saw Gerrara in the new sci-fi saga spin off and was amazed by the work the design team had done on his distinctive costume.
He said:” The designers were amazing. The first time I put it on, I was like, ‘OK, this is who he is.’
“The costume is quite unusual – it’s like armour but also like a living apparatus.”
Saw has previously been seen in the ‘Clone Wars’ TV series, but Forest thinks his movie incantation of the character is more “hardened” and seen as an “extremist”.
He told Total Film magazine: “In ‘The Clone Wars’ you see him when he’s younger and kind of a self-appointed leader.
“As the war goes on he becomes more hardened. You saw him training with Anakin and Obi-Wan as part of a sanctioned force.
“In ‘Rogue One’ he’s like, not even accepted by the other Rebels, he’s cordoned off with his own fighters, doing whatever’s necessary to win the war.
“He’s a freedom fighter who, in a way, is considered by the other Rebels to be an extremist because of the way he starts to conduct his campaign.
“I think he’s recognised that in order to stop what he considers to be inevitable – the creation of a machine that will destroy the universe – he has to make certain compromises.”

Jess Wright strips down for Dance, Dance, Dance

OHMYGOSSIP — Jessica Wright is to strip down to leather chaps and a bust-baring bra for her rendition of Christina Aguilera’s ‘Dirrty’ on ‘Dance, Dance, Dance’.
The former ‘The Only Way is Essex’ star showed off her raunchier side when she performed an energetic dance routine on the second episode of the ITV show, which is pre-recorded, in a flesh-flashing red ensemble and killer heels.
Speaking about copying the iconic 2002 video of Christina’s hit song, Jessica, 31, said: “I’m doing the full on chaps and bra. It’s my favourite dance, I absolutely love it! I’m scared but it’s the style of dancing that’s my favourite. I just channel Christina in that video and try to be as sassy and sexy as possible.”
However, the brunette beauty is hoping her father Big Mark – who also has son Mark Wright – won’t be watching the episode when it hits television screens.
She said: “I really hope my dad doesn’t watch me perform that live! I don’t think he’s actually coming to the studio that week, which is a relief. We have a family WhatsApp group and I sent a video of me doing the dance with the professional backing dancers, my dad hasn’t commented on it! My mum loved it, she was so happy!”
Jessica will compete as both a solo artist and as a duo, for which she will team up with her friend Duane to recreate ‘Jai Ho’ from award-winning film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.
Speaking to Digital Spy, she explained: “I’m going to be on national TV in chaps so that’s why I am trying to go to the gym a lot. It’s going to show a sexy side to me so it’ll be good. I’m just going to go for it and be confident.”
The brunette beauty is competing against ‘Coronation Street’ actress Lucy Jo Hudson, JLS singer JB Gill, ‘EastEnders’ actor Jonny Labey and ‘Emmerdale’s Fiona Wade.
And it seems Jessica should have an advantage as she’s no stranger to performing as she released her single ‘Danced All Night’ back in 2012 but her music career never took off and she decided to put it on a back burner in order to focus on presenting.

Samia Ghadie wants chilled 2017

OHMYGOSSIP — Samia Ghadie wants a “chilled” 2017.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actress – who has daughter Freya, seven, from a past relationship and Yves, 15 months, with husband Sylvain Longchambon – is already planning her holidays for the coming year and is hoping things are quieter for her in the near future than they have been in recent years.
She said: “I think we’re planning to go somewhere hot with the kids at Easter. I’ve always wanted to go to Ibiza – I’d quite like to go there.
“The last two years have been busy so it would be nice if 2017 is a chilled year.”
But Samia’s husband has different ideas as the former ‘Dancing On Ice’ professional is keen to get started on some DIY.
Asked if they have any home improvements planned, he said: “We’re going to convert the loft into a man cave. Only Yves and I will be allowed up there. It’s going to be a party room.
“We’ll see if we can fit a big-screen TV, bar, dartboard and pool table up there.”
But Samia doesn’t seem convinced.
She said: “I think a pool table is really heavy. It might end up coming through the bedroom ceiling and landing on our heads!”
The brunette beauty is also hoping for a quieter 2017 for her ‘Corrie’ alter ego Maria Connor.
Asked if there are happier times ahead for Maria, she said in a recent interview: “I want to say yes but I don’t know. It’s never that happy for Maria.”

Carrie Fisher's larger role in Episode VIII

OHMYGOSSIP — Carrie Fisher had a “larger role” in ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’.
According to Deadline, the 60-year-old actress – who passed away this week, just a few days after suffering a heart attack on a plane from London to Los Angeles – was due to play a bigger part in the next movie than she had in ‘The Force Awakens’.
An official from Lucasfilms previously said Carrie was “absolutely wrapped” on the new movie but it was too early to know how her untimely death would affect future movies.
Carrie co-stars with her daughter Billie Lourd in ‘Episode VIII’.
‘Star Wars: Episode IX’ is not due to start filming for at least a year.
Meanwhile, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has paid tribute to her “very special friend” Carrie.
The 63-year-old film producer spoke of the “indomitable spirit, incredible wit and loving heart” of the actress.
Kathleen said in a statement: “Carrie holds such special place in the hearts of everyone at Lucasfilm it is difficult to think of a world without her. She was Princess Leia to the world but a very special friend to all of us.
“She had an indomitable spirit, incredible wit, and a loving heart. Carrie also defined the female hero of our age over a generation ago. Her groundbreaking role as Princess Leia served as an inspiration of power and confidence for young girls everywhere. We will miss her dearly.”
And Disney CEO Bob Iger also remembered the actress, who he dubbed as “one of a kind”.
He shared: “Carrie Fisher was one of a kind, a true character who shared her talent and her truth with us all with her trademark wit and irreverence.
“Millions fell in love with her as the indomitable Princess Leia; she will always have a special place in the hearts of Star Wars fans as well as all of us who were lucky enough to know her personally. Charlotte Crosby and Stephen Bear dating?

OHMYGOSSIP — Charlotte Crosby and Stephen Bear have sparked rumours they’re dating.
The 26-year-old reality TV star joined the ‘Ex on the Beach’ hunk on his night club tour at an Exeter venue last week and looked “cosy” as they cuddled up to each other for selfies before leaving the VIP area together.
A source said: “Charlotte was keen to take a back seat while Bear was meeting and greeting fans as if she didn’t want to be spotted by too many people.
“When he’d finished his work commitments they kept themselves to the VIP area and seemed very cosy. They left together and seemed more than just friends.”
The pair struck up a close bond when they filmed their upcoming show ‘Just Tattoo of Us’ and have been spotted together several times over the past month.
Speculation that the stars are more than just friends began to spread like wildfire a few weeks ago when the heartthrob – known as Bear – uploaded a photo on his Snapchat account of his hand up Charlotte’s top as he held her from behind.
However, fans were quick to bombard the former ‘Geordie Shore’ babe with messages as it was initially thought she was in a relationship with Ash Harrison.
The source explained: “Charlotte has never said she was in a relationship with Ash, they dated but were never official.”
Despite their touchy-feely relationship, a representative for the blonde beauty is adamant she and Bear are not a couple and just enjoy each other’s company.
He told The Sun newspaper: “Charlotte and Bear are single, they are enjoying working together and are always fooling around on the set of ‘Just Tattoo Of Us’.”

Sophie Kasaei's boyfriend sold Xmas gifts

OHMYGOSSIP — Sophie Kasaei’s boyfriend put her Christmas gift to him on eBay.
The ‘Geordie Shore’ star splashed out on an expensive Apple watch for Joel Korry – who she has been dating for five years – in 2015 and though he claimed to like the present when he unwrapped it, she later discovered he had sold it just a few weeks later.
She said: “Last year I got him an Apple watch. He pretended he loved it and then two weeks later I found out he’d put it on eBay – and kept the money.”
Joel laughed: “I did try it out though.”
But Sophie won’t be selling her own gifts as revenge – because Joel never buys her any.
She said in a recent interview: “Joel doesn’t really buy us presents. He just likes to spend money on holidays.
“I always want a handbag but Joel would rather…”
Joel finished:”… Take her to Turkey and get her a fake one.”
This year, Sophie felt torn over what to do about Christmas because she feels uncomfortable choosing between her divorced parents.
She previously explained: “It’s two years down the line now so it’s a lot better but Christmas is coming up and that gets us down.
“I don’t know what to do. I know my dad will be fine because he has three restaurants so he’ll always be busy.
“But my mum is stuck in a little council house with hardly any money.”
But spending the day with Joel, who lives in London, wasn’t an option.
She said: “He can’t [spend it with me] because we’re so far away from each other.”
Joel added: “We like to go away in January though. Hopefully, it’ll be Mexico.”

Dawn French was going to retire

OHMYGOSSIP — Dawn French almost retired from acting earlier this year.
The 59-year-old actress was ready to pack in her career on screen when she had a sudden change of heart after she was approached about playing a passionate cook in the new TV series ‘Delicious’ and fell in love with the script.
Speaking to Digital Spy, she said: “I wasn’t really very interested in coming back in front of the camera again. It kind of lost some of it’s delights for me and I’ve been writing a lot in the last couple of years and I like being solitary and I like being inside my own head and not talking too much all day.
“So I didn’t really want to do anything but Phillippa Giles, the producer, sent me the outline of this script that Dan Sefton has written and I was hoping that this would be another thing that I would say ‘ah it’s not that great’ so then it’s really easy to pass on it, but then I really liked it.”
Dawn portrays Gina, who was formerly married to chef and entrepreneur Leo Vincent (played by Iain Glen), in the forthcoming Sky1 four-part drama.
The story, which captured Dawn’s heart, is centred on Leo, who is now married to Sam (Emilia Fox) but has a secret he is keeping from both his current partner and ex-wife – one that will see the two women form unlikely allies.
Dawn said: “I think what I really liked is here was a guy who seemed to be able to write women very well and he was writing interesting aspects of women, it wasn’t clichéd, it wasn’t anything I had particularly seen before. It’s lumpy and difficult and layered and interesting for that reason.”
‘Delicious’ will hit television screens on Friday, December 30 at 9pm on Sky1.

Lucas Till learns to relaxFESTIVE FEED

OHMYGOSSIP — Lucas Till has tried “way too hard” on some of his movies.
The 26-year-old actor learned to relax on the set of ‘Monster Trucks’ – in which he plays teenager Tripp, who builds a vehicle that gets ‘possessed’ by a subterranean creature – and had a great time making the movie.
He said: “Past movies I’ve done I tried way too hard and finally I was able to relax on this movie and realise that if I’m having fun, hopefully people watching will be having as much fun.
“We’re trying to recreate that feeling of those movies from the 80s that were classics when I was younger.
“It’s definitely got a lot of charm and we’re having a great time making it.
“It’s a laugh all day every day.”
And Lucas enjoyed the “challenge” of filming with the monster.
He said: “It’s my first movie where I had to interact with something that’s not there.
“I was excited because sometimes I see actors do it really well and I see actors who don’t do it really well and I’m like, ‘I don’t know if I’ll be able to do it right.’ I liked the challenge.”
Lucas admitted working on the vehicle has inspired him to want to splash out on a monster truck of his own.
He told SFX magazine: “I grew up with a truck, my dad had one, so I like trucks.
“I’m thinking about getting one, maybe after this movie.”

Paul Hollywood put US plans on hold for Great British Bake Off

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Hollywood has put his plans for a US TV show on hold in order to focus on ‘The Great British Bake Off’.
The 50-year-old baking judge was the only member of the presenting quartet – completed by fellow judge Mary Berry and hosts Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins – to remain loyal to the former BBC show when it announced its move to Channel 4 earlier this year, and has now reportedly put his plans to break America on hold as “he knows ‘Bake Off’ needs him”.
Paul filmed a pilot episode for a new show with US channel Food Network in August, and was hoping to commission a full series before Love Productions – the brains behind ‘Bake Off’ – began negotiations with broadcasters.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Paul shot the pilot in August just before the BBC started negotiating with ‘Bake Off’ makers Love Productions.
“Producers loved the one-off he had made and commissioned a full series to shoot next year in LA.
“But Paul had committed to stay with ‘Bake Off’ and he knows that there’s a lot on with his already busy schedule and holding down the show.
“It’s frustrating for him but he knows that ‘Bake Off’ needs him. Hopefully he can have another stab at the US.”
The news comes after Paul recently revealed his decision to follow the baking competition over to its new home after he feared he’d lose his job.
He said: “It came down to, my job was still there and I didn’t want to lose my job.
“I love doing what I do.
“At the end of the day, I’m a baker by trade, that’s all I am.”

John Torode recovering after hospitalisation

OHMYGOSSIP — John Torode is “well and happy” after his recent hospitalisation.
The ‘Masterchef’ star was rushed to hospital in London after a mystery Boxing Day (26.12.16) accident and although he is “very bruised”, John’s girlfriend Lisa Faulkner revealed he is now recovering at home.
She shared a message on Instagram, which read: “Thank you so very much to the lovely docs and nurses yesterday #stmaryshospitalpaddington for looking after my @johntorodecooks who is very bruised but doing well! #luckyescape #blessed (sic).”
And Lisa later followed it up with a tweet, saying: “Thank you for all your lovely get well wishes ! @JohnTorode1 is well and happy and sitting on the sofa and all is good (sic).”
The couple first met on ‘Celebrity MasterChef’ in 2010 and embarked on a relationship two-and-a-half years later.
And John, who enjoyed Christmas at Claridge’s hotel in London with Lisa, previously insisted they never argue in the kitchen.
Asked how often he cooks, John said: “I cook every single day and I love it and that’s what I do, it’s what I’m really good at and I’m really happy doing it. My kids love the food and I love the food and Lisa and I like to cook together. It’s good.
“We sort of just … Things just sort of happen. I don’t know, it just works, one night I might cook, one night she might or one night I might be doing salad and she might make something else. It just happens.”

Octavia Spencer's Hidden Figures shock

OHMYGOSSIP — Octavia Spencer could not believe that ‘Hidden Figures’ was a true story.
The actress plays Dorothy Vaughan in the drama about three African-American women who were on the team that helped to launch astronaut John Glenn into orbit in the 1960s and was shocked that she had never heard of the women before.
She told The Wrap: “Honestly, I thought it was historical fiction because I had grown up with the narrative of what happened in the space race and we’ve seen so much archival footage, I thought the fact that we never heard of these women, it had to be fiction. And then I felt compelled to be part of the story because I feel like these women are unsung heroes.”
And Taraji P Henson – who plays NASA mathematician Katherine Johnson – admitted she felt a duty to star in the movie.
She said: “This movie I had to do, I just felt like it was my duty. We always celebrate the astronauts, but we don’t celebrate the mathematicians behind it. But I didn’t know that these women existed and I was like, ‘Why are we just learning about them?’ And I couldn’t wait to meet Katherine Johnson, she’s still very much alive. She’s 98 now.
“What struck me most was her humility. She found the ‘we’ in ‘I.’ Because John Glenn asked for Katherine in a time when it was very difficult for women, especially black women – [we] couldn’t even vote. She focused on solutions, not problems.”
The movie, which has been directed by Ted Melfi, also stars Janelle Monáe.

Andrew Garfield 'struggled' with Spider-Man

OHMYGOSSIP — Andrew Garfield “struggled” with his role as Spider-Man.
The 33-year-old actor took on the iconic superhero for two films, 2012’s ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ and its sequel, ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ in 2014, but has admitted he found the role challenging as it was “different” to anything he’d done before.
Speaking to TheWrap.com, Andrew said: “[Spider-Man had] a different set of values and a different hierarchy of priorities. And we all know what those are. I struggled with that. I wasn’t having the total experience that I remembered having.”
Despite his struggles with the role, Andrew previously admitted he has always wanted to play Peter Parker and his alter ego and has adorned the all-in-one red suit for many years prior to being cast as the lead role in the production.
Speaking about his long-lasting love for the character, he said: “My first superhero costume when I was a three-year-old at Halloween.”
And the dark-haired hunk has revealed the wall-climbing and web-spinning character has always been his “favourite” superhero.
He added: “Spider-Man was my favourite superhero.”
And it isn’t the first time Andrew has opened up about how “tricky” the role was, as he previously claimed he was left “heartbroken” when the superhero wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.
Speaking recently of his experience, Garfield said: “The story and the character were actually not the top of the priority list, ultimately.
“I found that really, really tricky. I signed up to serve the story, and to serve this incredible character that I’ve been dressing as since I was three, and then it gets compromised and it breaks your heart.
“I got heartbroken a little bit to a certain degree.”
