Holly Willoughby's Meet the Parents gets second series

OHMYGOSSIP — Holly Willoughby’s dating show ‘Meet the Parents’ has been commissioned for a second series.
The 35-year-old TV presenter – best known for co-hosting daytime magazine programme ‘This Morning’ with Phillip Schofield – made her debut as a dating show host back in October when she became the face of ITV’s new match-making programme.
The show proved to be popular with viewers and now bosses have ordered another run just a month after the final episode of the first run aired and they are on the hunt for new contestants looking for love.
A source told The Sun Online: “The first series of ‘Meet the Parents’ proved to be a huge hit. It drew in fantastic viewing figures of over two million each week despite going head to head with ‘Strictly Come Dancing’. There has therefore been little debate among bosses as to whether it should be recommissioned – and they have decided that they want a second series to air in 2017 with Holly at the helm. Dating shows are all the rage right now and Holly completely clicked with the programme’s young audience and contestants.”
Producers are scouring for singletons who are happy to have their parents spill the beans on their romance and cringe-worthy childhood tales.
The show format is centred on the parents who are quizzed by the picker about their son or daughter whilst the guys and girls hoping to be chosen see and hear everything. The potential dates have no control over what their parents are revealing. However, if mum and dad go too far, they can make one urgent phone call to speak to them.
The hook of the show is seeing whether these parental confessions help or hinder their kid’s chances of finding love as once the picker has finished grilling the parents, they make their dating decision.
And similar to the 80s, 90s and 00s popular show ‘Blind Date’, the pickers get to see who they turned down before they come face-to-face with their date.
The source added: “ITV were surprised during the first series by just how many members of the public were willing to come on a dating show alongside members of their family. They’re hoping they’ll have just as big an intake in the second series and have already put out ads online asking for willing individuals to star on the show.”
Online adverts have revealed they are on the quest to find more “fun, outgoing people and their families to take part in a new series”.

Neil Dudgeon discovered snake phobia on Midsomer Murders set

OHMYGOSSIP — Neil Dudgeon discovered he had a phobia of snakes on the set of ‘Midsomer Murders’.
The 56-year-old actor has returned as DCI John Barnaby in the popular ITV detective series and ahead of filming for Series 19 he was asked if he had an issue with the reptiles.
Although he thought he was “OK” with snakes when shooting commenced for the specific scene in which he got close to the serpents he quickly found out he is a sufferer of Ophidiophobia, but it was too late to do anything about it.
Speaking on ‘This Morning’ on Wednesday (04.01.17), he revealed: “There were snakes in the first episode of this series. Everyone rings up a couple of weeks before and says, ‘Are you OK with snakes?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah I think I am OK with snakes, you never know. Why?’ And then they disappear and the next thing you are in a room full of snakes and they are crawling towards you.
“It occurred to me that I had never really met a snake so I didn’t know whether I’d find out, ‘Oh, no I have a phobia of snakes and I can’t cope.’ Fortunately the snakes were charming and lovely.”
In Series 19, viewers have been introduced to a new heartthrob in Midsomer. Nick Hendrix – a 31-year-old Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) graduate – is playing DS Jamie Winter, DCI Barnaby’s new sidekick, and admits it is a “privilege” to be part of the beloved show.
He previously said: “It’s a real privilege to be part of a hugely successful and much loved show and I am looking forward to stepping into the wonderful world of ‘Midsomer’.”
Dudgeon is appearing in his sixth series as DCI Barnaby after taking over from John Nettles – who portrayed DCI Tom Barnaby, the cousin of John Barnaby – in 2011 and he has no intention of leaving anytime soon.
He said: “I’m amazed it’s been so long. And I can’t believe I’m coming back to my third sergeant. Actors think, ‘I’ll go and do other things; there’s life outside ‘Midsomer’ – and I just don’t believe that.”
The next episode of ‘Midsomer Murders’, entitled ‘Crime and Punishment’, airs on ITV on Wednesday night (04.01.16) at 8:00pm.

Loose Women fear for Coleen Nolan in CBB house

OHMYGOSSIP — Coleen Nolan’s ‘Loose Women’ co-stars are worried about how she is going to cope in the ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ house.
The 51-year-old singer and regular panellist on the ITV daytime programme returned to the reality TV show for a second stint on Tuesday night (03.01.17) – having starred on the show back in 2012 finishing in second place.
Coleen’s fellow panellists have now shared their concerns that the brutal nature of the Channel 5 series may prove to be too much for her to deal with, especially as she admitted in December that she is having marriage troubles with her husband Ray Fensome, whom she wed in 2007.
Speaking about the surprise of the Nolan Sister being a housemate, Jane Moore said: “I was quite surprised because leading up to Christmas she said her and Ray were having problems and they were trying to sort things out and I thought she’s quite vulnerable and to go in somewhere like that.
“When she spoke about going in ‘CBB’ before it was the older show where it was much more relaxing, and she said she loved it. It’s not like that anymore … it’s much more high octane.”
Panel host Ruth Langsford noted that Colleen sounded “nervous” speaking to Emma Willis before she entered the house and questioned whether it was right for her to take part.
Ruth said: “I hope she’s got someone in there to talk to or confide in because you don’t have any privacy, and I thought, ‘Is this the best thing for her to be doing?’ ”
Referring to the bevy of surgically enhanced beauties on the programme, which include Jasmine Waltz, Nicola McLean, Heidi Montag and Bianca Gascoigne, Linda Robson added: “Maybe she’s gone in there to think things through. It’s the weirdest ‘Big Brother’ – it’s like Silicon Valley in there!”
Nadia Sawalha is also fearful for her close friend, and said: “It was a very different thing last time she was in and now they [producers] have ratcheted it up, the crowds are hungry for blood and the psychological games … I am worried for her because I do think she is going to get a shock.”
Nadia revealed that ‘CBB’ bosses asked her to go into the house, following her 2015 appearance, but she decided to turn down their big cash offer because she couldn’t go through the experience again.
She shared: “Even though it was the worst experience of my life, the money was ridiculous this time and I was tempted for a moment but it’s because of my husband and my kids (that I’m not). If I was a single woman I would have done it but I don’t like my kids watching me go through that. Honestly there is not a price (that would get me back in there).”
Coleen has joined Heidi and her husband Spencer Pratt, Calum Best, James Jordan, Jasmine and Austin Armacost as the All Stars, while the New Stars are Stacy Francis, Angie Best, Ray J, Bianca, Brandon Block, Nicola and Jamie O’Hara.

Davina McCall up for Big Brother return

OHMYGOSSIP — Davina McCall wants to return to ‘Big Brother’ to host ‘Bit on the Side’.
The 49-year-old star presented the reality TV show when it aired on Channel 4 between 2000 and 2010 and she has admitted she would be willing to return to take control of the spin-off series should regular host Rylan Clark-Neal enter the ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ house during the current series and main show presenter Emma Willis isn’t able to step in.
Speaking on ‘This Morning’ on Wednesday (04.01.16) during Rylan’s showbiz news segment, she said: “I want to come back and do ‘Big Brother’s Bit on the Side’ again.”
Addressing rumours that he is going back into the house, 28-year-old Rylan – who won series 11 three years ago – said: “If it happens you can do ‘BOTS’.”
Quizzed on whether it is true that he is to enter the famous abode for the current series, dubbed ‘All Stars and New Stars’, he said: “No of course I am not, that’s not what I am saying. There have been so many rumours going about that I am going back in because Heidi [Montag] and Spencer [Pratt] are in. I obviously host ‘BOTS’ and I love it, that’s my job.”
‘This Morning’ presenter Phillip Schofield then said: “Can I also point out and this is directly to the producers of ‘Big Brother’, something that you [Davina] said, you go in …”
Rylan added: “And Emma [Willis] can’t do ‘BOTS’ or she comes in with me.”
Philip interrupted: “She goes in …”
Davina said: “Then I’m doing ‘BOTS’.”
An excited Rylan exclaimed: “There you are verbal contract we all heard it. It could happen you never, never know.”
It comes after rumours circulated that bosses had agreed to let Rylan move back into the iconic house temporarily this week for the special in a bid to “settle scores” with reality TV couple Heidi and Spencer whom he repeatedly clashed with in the house in 2013.
Since going back into the house, Spencer and Heidi have dissed Rylan and spoke about how much they hate him.

Jerry Bruckheimer reuniting with Joachim Ronning for new film Origin

OHMYGOSSIP — Jerry Bruckheimer is reuniting with ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’ director Joachim Ronning for new movie ‘Origin’.
According to Deadline, Paramount Pictures has made a preemptive deal to make the film with Joachim helming the project and writing the script with his brother Andreas Ronning.
Jerry will produce the movie through his Paramount-based Jerry Bruckheimer Films company.
So far, there are few details known about ‘Origin’ other than that it is going to be a big budget, intelligent science fiction adventure which has the potential to become a franchise.
Joachim Ronning teamed up with Espen Sandberg to make ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’, which is the fifth instalment in the Disney series.
It was filmed throughout 2015 and the swashbuckling adventure – starring the returning Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Stephen Graham and Keira Knightley and newcomers Javier Bardem, Brenton Thwaites and Kaya Scodelario – is due to hit cinemas this May.

Kevin Costner making new Western

OHMYGOSSIP — Kevin Costner is developing a new Western movie which he intends to direct and star in.
The 61-year-old actor made his name in Hollywood with several roles in films set in the American Old West, such as ‘Dances with Wolves’, ‘Silverado’, ‘Open Range’ and ‘Wyatt Earp’ and now he is turning his attention to the genre again for a new epic.
Costner is now co-writing the project and he wants to step behind the camera for the story.
Speaking to Vulture, he said: “I have another Western I’ve co-written with some people, and I would like to play out the second half of my career directing more. I’ve constantly given the movies I’ve found to directors who I thought could do it better, but there are a lot of voices in my ear from my family saying, ‘You need to direct the movies you fall in love with.’ So I think I will,”
Costner is no stranger to directing having previously took control of 1990’s ‘Dances with Wolves’ – which won seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture – 1997’s ‘The Postman’ and 2003’s ‘Open Range’.
The veteran star has also revealed the plot he has fleshed out stretches to a 10-hour story meaning it could become a franchise or even a long-running TV series.
He told Variety: “I’ve been working on it. It’s about 10 hours long, how about that? Maybe I’ll make three features out of it. There’s a fourth one, too, so it’s truly a saga. I could do TV, or I could also make it like every six months, have a big Western that’s tied together like ‘Jean De Florette’ and ‘Manon Of The Spring’. I think those are fun to watch.”

Ricky Tomlinson wants outtakes tribute for Caroline Aherne

OHMYGOSSIP — Ricky Tomlinson wants to put together an outtakes special in honour of his late ‘Royle Family’ co-star Caroline Aherne.
The writer and actress passed away in July following a lengthy battle against lung cancer, and the Liverpudlian – who starred as Jim Royle in the popular BBC sitcom – is keen to pay homage to his on-screen daughter [Denise Best].
The 77-year-old comedian already has some ideas for which blunders could feature in the programme, but he’s not sure if the BBC still have the footage archived.
On the cast’s plans to pay their respects to the 52-year-old star, Ricky said: “People don’t know that when we did ‘Mambo No 5’, Twiggy’s trousers fell off – so that must be there in the outtakes. Craig Cash did 14 takes to say one word, when he was talking about Dame Helen Mirren. He was saying, ‘That Helen Mirren, she doesn’t mind flipping them out’, and I used to fall about. I had to bite my lip.
“There is stuff like that that nobody has seen so far.
“I don’t know if someone has got them but, my God, what a bloody programme that would be. That would be a good tribute to Caroline.”
Ricky remembers Caroline for her prankster ways, and one particular moment that still makes him chuckle is the time he was filming in his boxer shorts and a t-shirt, and the blonde beauty joked about his balls falling out.
According to the Daily Star, he said: “We had done an episode where my big toe was supposed to be sore. I have just got my Y-fronts on and a top.
“When the episode was done, Caroline looked at me with a smirk and she went: “Do you know when we did that scene, one of your testicles was hanging out.”
Ricky was left reeling by the tragic news of Caroline’s death.
At the time, he shared: “I’m so bloody shocked. She was absolutely wonderful and amazing to work for. Kind, funny, witty.
“A true professional and one of the most generous people I ever worked with.”
As well as co-writing ‘The Royle Family’, Caroline starred as the acerbic chat show host Mrs Merton, while she also featured in various roles in the ‘The Fast Show’.
Caroline won an array of gongs during her comedy career, including BAFTAs, a British Comedy Award and a Royal Television Society Award.

Stephen Bear needed therapy after Celebrity Big Brother

OHMYGOSSIP — Stephen Bear has claimed he needed “three months of therapy” after he was grilled by Emma Willis in his ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ winner’s interview last summer.
The former ‘Ex on the Beach’ star, 26, was crowned the champion of series 18 last year by the public, but the outcome didn’t sit well with the show’s host and she fired some tough questions at him during his exit and he has admitted the situation damaged him.
Taking to his Twitter account on Tuesday (04.01.17) as the new series aired, Stephen – who is also known as Bear – wrote: “I see @EmmaWillis is back . Let’s hope she’s kinder to the winner this year . Took me 3 months of rehab to get over it xx (sic)”
The new series saw seven former housemates – who have all appeared in the show before and made their mark on viewers – return to the infamous abode to shake things up for the seven newbies and Bear is appalled he wasn’t called back for this year.
He said: “How I’m not in that house liberty ! X (sic),” followed by a crying laugh emoji.
And, although they’ve only been in the colourful bungalow hours, bosses have already caused trouble for the housemates as the All Stars – the previous contestants – were tasked with choosing who out of the New Stars should be “edited out” of the show.
They settled on Stacy Francis, banishing her out into the garden in a disgusting beige tracksuit top with “edited out” emblazoned on it as the others enjoyed the launch party.
And there will no doubt be fireworks before long as Austin Armacost admitted that Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt – known collectively as Speidi – were the “worst housemates” he could have in there with him because they’re a “nightmare.”
Other stars taking part in the current series include James Jordan, Calum Best, his mother Angie Best, Bianca Gascoigne, Coleen Nolan, Ray J and Nicola McLean.

Jamie O'Hara is struggling for cash

OHMYGOSSIP — Jamie O’Hara is struggling for cash.
The 30-year-old footballer – who has played for the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Fulham and Millwall – agreed to enter the ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ house because he needs the money after his divorce from ex-wife Danielle Lloyd chewed into his bank balance.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, he said: “I lost quite a bit in my divorce so it’s always nice to be offered money. At the end of the day we’re here to make a living. I lost a few quid. This hopefully gives me an opportunity to build a future for me and my kids.”
And, although things have finally been settled between the former couple, Jamie is adamant he’ll never let a woman get her hands on his cash ever again.
When asked what he is looking for in his next partner, Jamie – who is currently single – said with a laugh: “One that doesn’t take all your money.”
Jamie is hoping his stint in the infamous house, which he entered on Tuesday (03.01.17) night, won’t tarnish his sporting career as he’d like to get back into football.
He explained: “I’m probably making it harder for myself by doing this show. But at the end of the day, I’ve got to look at it as a positive and I’d love to play football again.
“I wake up every day dreaming of playing football. I’ve been really unlucky with injuries, and my personal life has also made things quite difficult as well, because managers look at me as a whole package.”
Jamie split from former model Danielle, with whom he has children Archie, six, and Harry, five, in 2014 after he allegedly had an affair with an office worker.
The hunk has remained tight-lipped on their relationship but bosses are no doubt hoping that he’ll open up about their shocking split while inside the abode this month.

Bianca Gascoigne earns own money

OHMYGOSSIP — Bianca Gascoigne earns her own money.
The 30-year-old glamour model – who is also the manager of a strip club in London – has been accused of leeching off her footballing legend father Paul Gascoigne’s success, but she’s adamant she’s never needed a helping hand from her dad.
She said: “I have a fantastic job, earn my own money and always have.”
The blonde bombshell is hoping her stint in the infamous house, which she entered on Tuesday (03.01.17) night alongside her former fling Calum Best, will allow viewers to fall in love with her for who she is and her personality rather than who she’s related to.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, she said: “I’m really excited to do the show which I’ve been a fan off for many years. I just want people to see the real me.”
And, although she shares a strong bond with her father, Bianca isn’t one to talk about her relationship with Paul – also known as Gazza – because it’s private.
She explained to the publication: “There’s been various stories written about me and my relationship with my dad which I feel has put me at a disadvantage.
“I try not to speak about my father. I found out about a particular story which claimed to have had direct quotes from me but was completely fabricated.”
However, bosses will be hoping Bianca will open up about her father inside the house when she gets to know her fellow contestants; including Jamie O’Hara, Ray J, Nicola McLean, ‘Loose Women’s Coleen Nolan and professional dancer James Jordan.

Emma Stone wishes she could ditch stage name

OHMYGOSSIP — Emma Stone wants to ditch her stage name for her real moniker.
The ‘La La Land’ star’s actual name is Emily Jean Stone but she was told she would have to change her title when she signed up to the Screen Actors Guild as under SAG rules no two members can have the same name and there was already an Emily Stone listed.
Stone had to make the decision on what she would be referred to instead when she was just 16 and at first she chose to be called Riley, but she couldn’t get used to people calling her that.
In an interview with the new issue of W magazine, she shared: “Well, I was 16 when I found out at SAG I couldn’t have my own name. So to ask a 16 year old to pick a new name is really an interesting process because I was like, ‘I’m going to be Riley. My name is going to be Riley Stone.’ And so my name was Riley Stone for about six months and I did a guest spot on ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ and one day they were like, ‘Riley, Riley,’ and I had no idea who they were talking to and they were like, ‘Hey, hey come on we need you on set.’ And I was like, ‘Oh I’m not Riley, I can’t be Riley.’ ”
Stone then was going to change her name to “Emily J. Stone” which she thought would be cool as it was like her idol Michael J. Fox, but then she decided she wouldn’t be able to pull it off.
The 28-year-old actress would like to go back to her own name, even though she’s achieved worldwide fame as Emma Stone, but she isn’t sure if it’s possible.
She said: “I had the option of Emily J. Stone and it’s kind of like Michael J. Fox, and I love Michael J. Fox, but I don’t think I could pull off the J. So then I changed it to Emma because you know it’s closer to Emily, but most people call me ‘M,’ that know me well. I would love to get her (Emily Stone) back.”

Woody Harrelson in talks to star in Han Solo film

OHMYGOSSIP — Woody Harrelson is reportedly in talks to join the cast of the Han Solo ‘Star Wars’ anthology film.
The 55-year-old actor has begun initial discussions to join Alden Ehrenreich, who is confirmed to play the part of the young space smuggler, in the spin-off movie.
According to Variety, if the ‘True Detective’ star is cast in the sci-fi blockbuster he is expected to play an early mentor to Ehrenreich’s Solo – originally played by Harrison Ford in four films.
It is understood that Disney and Lucasfilm are keen to secure a big name to play that part and it had been rumoured that ‘The Dark Knight’ star Christian Bale was among the favourites at one stage.
Harrelson has previous experience of portraying a mentor character as in ‘The Hunger Games’ franchise he played embittered Haymitch Abernathy who had to help Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) as she prepared to take part in the death match.
Harrelson and Han Solo co-producer Alison Shearmur – who is bringing the film to the big screen with Lucasfilm president and ‘Star Wars’ brand manager Kathleen Kennedy – struck up a close bond from working together on ‘The Hunger Games’, when Shearmur was overseeing the project for Lionsgate.
For someone who has already has a busy 12 months – appearing in the cop drama ‘Triple Nine’, ‘Now You See Me 2’, ‘LBJ’, and most recently in STX’s ‘The Age of Seventeen’ – Harrelson has no plan to slow down.
Harrelson is already set to star in ‘The Glass Castle’ opposite Brie Larson and he plays a new antagonist in ‘War for the Planet of the Apes’.
Ehrenreich will definitely be joined in the as-yet untitled Han Solo film by ‘Game of Thrones’ actress Emilia Clarke and Donald Glover, who is playing a young Lando Calrissian, while ‘The Lego Movie’ directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller are helming the project.

Nicola McLean 'almost backed out' of Celebrity Big Brother

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicola McLean almost quit ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ just hours before it was due to air after losing all “confidence” in the show.
The 35-year-old television personality first entered the ‘Big Brother’ house in 2012 and described the experience as the “worst experience” of her life, and sources now claim that her “awful” time in the house five years ago led her to “almost back out” of returning to the show.
A source explained: “Nicola completely lost her confidence and almost backed out of ‘CBB’ at the last minute.
“Last time she was on the show, she had an awful time with some of her housemates, and she is scared it could happen again.”
The blonde beauty – who is taking part in the new All Stars and New Stars version of the series which pits past housemates against house newbies – reportedly had to be talked into going back onto the show by her husband, Tom Williams.
The source added: “Everyone has fully supported her and convinced her to go back into the ‘CBB’ house after the awful experience that she had in there the last time.
“Nicola has stepped out of the public eye for the last two years after a lot of difficult personal problems.
“She made a decision not to go to celeb events or speak to the press so that she could give her marriage a proper chance under normal circumstances.”
And sources also suggest that Nicola’s two sons, Rocky, 10, and Striker, six, also played a part in her worries about returning to the reality show.
The insider told The Sun Online: “She has loved being an ‘at home mum’ and going back into the CBB house has taken every ounce of courage that she has.
“She is a full time ‘soccer mum’ and is always at her two sons’ football trying sessions and matches.
“Nicola loves hanging out with like-minded mums and she’s been reluctant to step back into the spotlight.”
Despite her worries, Nicola entered the infamous house on Tuesday (03.01.17)

Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood to be reunited on American baking show

OHMYGOSSIP — Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood are in talks to be reunited on American baking show.
The 81-year-old culinary Queen and the 50-year-old chef – who judged the popular programme ‘The Great British Bake Off’ together for six years after it first aired in 2010 – are rumoured to join forces again and re-ignite their “on-screen chemistry” in a new series of ‘Great American Baking Show’ following Mary’s success on the ABC programme.
Speaking about plans to continue the series with the addition of the silver fox, a source told The Sun Online: “‘The Great American Baking Show’ did really well in the ratings and execs love the British accent.
“They may want to get the pair back together again for their on-screen chemistry.”
And it is believed if the duo make a comeback on the follow-up series to the US show, the UK will be desperate to get their hands on the show first.
The source continued: “There would also be a lot of interest here and a UK channel would probably show it for the first time.”
Although the pair decided to go their separate ways last year when the popular BBC cooking competition was sold to Channel 4, which saw Paul opt to continue to critique tasty treats whilst Mary decided against the move “out of loyalty” to the BBC, neither Mary or Paul hold any bad blood against one another.
And Mary has wished her colleague all the best for the upcoming series of ‘The Great British Bake Off’, which Paul is believed to start filming in May this year.
Speaking previously, Mary said: “It’s going to be different but I’m sure Paul will carry it on successfully.”

The 70-year-old actor – who is most known for his role as Rocky Balboa in the ‘Rocky’ series – is reportedly set to direct and act alongside Adam Driver, 33, in an upcoming movie based on Travis Mills’ memoir, according to Deadline.com.
The drama will follow American military member Sergeant Mills, which is rumoured to be played by Driver, who is one of the remaining five soldiers to have survived and overcome a quadruple amputation after being injured on the battlefield.
And it is believes Stallone will be cast as the soldier’s father-in-law, Craig Buck, who has supported Mills throughout his ordeals and the aftercare.
It has been reported WME is in talks to back the production, whilst 20th Century Fox Film company are also holding discussions about the project and are hoping to acquire the rights to the memoir, the life rights of Mills and Craig.

Speaking previously about his next project, he said: “That was going to be great, fingers crossed.
“We’re going to do our best. I think we’ve got some really great actors going, we’ve got great ideas, everyone’s expecting something different and we’re going to give it to ’em.”

Ryan Reynolds not done with Deadpool

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Reynolds wants to play Deadpool for “as long” as he can.
The 40-year-old actor first donned the red and black skin-tight suit in 2009 for an appearance in ‘X Men Origins: Wolverine’ before getting his own eponymously titled movie in 2016, and says he isn’t done playing Wade Wilson and his crime fighting alter ego just yet.
He said: “I would love to play Deadpool for as long as they would let me play Deadpool. We have outlines and stories for a number of different films.”
The star is attempting to get Hugh Jackman – who plays Wolverine – to do a standalone movie with the two superheroes, but the 48-year-old isn’t convinced as he recently revealed he is planning on retiring from the character this year.
Hugh said: “I’m hesitating, because I could totally see how that’s the perfect fit. But the timing may be wrong.”
However, Ryan isn’t giving up just yet.
He said: “I have no idea if I can change his mind. It’s the audience: I would exclusively exploit that relationship to get Hugh back for another one.”
Elsewhere, Ryan is gearing up for a sequel to last year’s ‘Deadpool’, which is due to shoot this year in preparation for a 2018 release date.
Speaking to Variety magazine about the sequel, Ryan said: “The budget is not going to be phenomenally bigger. Who knows? Maybe the budget will be bigger — anything can happen.”
The news comes after it was revealed that David Leitch would take over as director for the sequel after Tim Miller – who directed the first instalment – quit the franchise over “creative differences.”
Ryan said of Tim at the time: “There is not a human being on earth that worked harder on ‘Deadpool’ than Tim. He’s an incredibly, incredibly talented director.”
‘Deadpool 2’ is expected to be released in January 2018.
