Lucie Jones to represent UK at Eurovision Song Contest

OHMYGOSSIP — Lucie Jones will represent the UK at the ‘Eurovision Song Contest’.
The 25-year-old singer beat off competition from five other former ‘X Factor’ flops on the 90-minute selection show, ‘Eurovision: You Decide’, on BBC Two on Friday (27.01.17), to be chosen to perform at the competition in Ukraine, in May.
Lucie’s song ‘Never Give Up On You’ impressed the judging panel, comprised of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ judge Bruno Tonioli, pop beauty Sophie Ellis-Bextor and vocal mentor CeCe Sammy, at London’s Hammersmith Apollo.
Sophie said: “The real magic in that performance was you, Lucie,” while Bruno added: “It was magic, just beautiful.”
And CeCe said: “Incredible voice. You summed up what Eurovision is about!”
Lucie also won over the public, who voted for her to represent the UK at the annual competition, which sees countries in Europe go head-to-head.
Lucie said: “I can’t believe you picked me. Thank you so much!”
Lucie competed against Daryl Johnson, who also appeared on ‘The X Factor’ in 2009, Olivia Garcia and Nate Simpson, who made it to the Judges’ Houses stage of the competition last year, and Salena Mastroianni.
Also joining them was Holly Brewer, who was the wedding singer at ‘Our Girl’ star Michelle Keegan, 29, and 30-year-old former ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ hunk Mark Wright’s wedding in May 2015.

Dominic West joins Tomb Raider

OHMYGOSSIP — Dominic West has been cast in the new ‘Tomb Raider’ film.
The ‘Affair’ star is to play Lord Richard Croft, the father of Lara Croft, who is being brought to life on the big screen by Alicia Vikander in Warner Bros. Pictures and MGM’s reboot of the franchise.
West, 47, joins Walton Goggins as Father Matthais and Daniel Wu as ship’s captain in the project which is being directed by Roar Uthaug.
The film – based on the popular video game series created by British company Core Design in 1996 – will focus on daredevil archaeologist Lara as she sets out on her first ever expedition to finish her father’s research and search for ancient relics she needs to find to clear his disgraced name.
In the ‘Tomb Raider’ series own mythology Lara’s aristocrat dad Lord Croft has been a key figure. In the two movies starring Angelina Jolie as Lara the character was played by her real-life dad Jon Voight.
Vikander, 28, has admitted she is very “excited” to play “icon” Lara in the film, which is to be based on the latest two video games in the series – the most recent being 2015’s ‘Rise of the Tomb Raider – which have focused on Lara at the start of her adventures.
She said: “I mean, for me, I’m so excited to do it. She was such an icon, I played the game when I was a kid, but they rebooted the game a few years ago so it is now becoming more of an origins story. So it’s quite different.”
‘Tomb Raider’ is expected to be released on March 16, 2018.

OHMYGOSSIP — Ant and Dec received their OBE at Buckingham Palace on Friday (27.01.17) morning.
The comedy double act – whose full names are Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly – couldn’t hold back their smiles as they picked up their trophies in recognition of their services to broadcasting and entertainment from the Prince of Wales.
The pair, who are both 41, were joined by their wives Lisa Armstrong and Ali Astall at the royal place of residence as they posed for photographs as a foursome later on.
The duo’s medals come just two days after they secured three trophies at the National Television Awards at London’s O2 Arena on Wednesday (25.01.17) evening.
Ant and Dec were crowned Best TV Presenters for the 16th year in a row, their show ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’ swiped the gong for Best Entertainment Show, while ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ picked up the accolade for Best Challenge Show.
Ant said at the time: “Thank you very much this is just mad. We were chatting in the car on the way here and we have won it year after year after year. But we said this year if we lost out to Mel and Sue, who I think were remarkable on ‘Bake Off’, then that would have been a good shout. So well done girls.”
Dec added: “Thankfully we didn’t. We are thrilled. If anything we get more and more grateful every year because we are never quite sure when this run is going to end. The fact that it hasn’t tonight, we are thoroughly grateful to everyone that voted for us.
Thank you so, so much. We really do appreciate it.”
The pair said they were in “shock” to be the first award winners of the night.
Accepting their gong for Entertainment Programme, Ant said: It really is our baby and, it’s a bit of a shock first award up, but what a thrill.”
Dec added: “Thank you, thank you so much, thank you to all of the talented people that stand behind us here and come up with all the ideas and all of that.
“We have so much fun doing it and are thrilled you like watching it.
We’re back at the end of February for another run.”

Cheryl Fergison wants EastEnders return

OHMYGOSSIP — Cheryl Fergison wants to return to ‘EastEnders’.
The 51-year-old actress saw her alter-ego Heather Trott killed off five years ago when Ben Mitchell – now played by Harry Reid – smashed her around the head with an ornament, but she doesn’t think her character’s tragic death should stand in the way of her return and has asked bosses to bring her back as the deceased launderette worker’s twin sister.
Speaking in ‘Loose Women’ on Friday (27.01.17), she said: “Being in ‘EastEnders’ was a brilliant time in my life, I still speak to a lot of the people there. I just recently saw Steve McFadden in panto, he did look a lot better than he did on screen, he’s not been very well on the show. I had an amazing time there, it’s a shame that Heather went, I keep suggesting I should come back as her twin sister – I think she should be from Scotland.”
Just before she left the long-running soap, Cheryl began dating her now-husband Yassine Al-Jermini after they met on the internet but she has admitted she hid her identity for five months.
She said: “We met online and wrote to one another on the computer and spoke on the computer. It was very old-fashioned. ‘He didn’t know what I did for a living. I didn’t show him my picture. It was five months of chat before we met each other. ‘I saw him and it was like ‘ping’. I knew he was the man I was going to marry and I had been married once before.
“I know people could end up looking like Princess Fiona from ‘Shrek’ or could get catfished. But in life, I think you have to take a chance. If it doesn’t work out and if you fall on your backside, pick yourself up and dust yourself off. Do what you want and don’t let anyone tell you, you can’t.”

Robson Green feared he put James Norton in hospital after prank

OHMYGOSSIP — Robson Green feared James Norton would be hospitalised after prank.
The 52-year-old actor – who has been cast in the role of Detective Inspector Geordie Keating in the popular drama ‘Grantchester’ – has admitted he feared he had caused some serious damage to his co-star, who plays Reverend Sidney Chambers in the series, after he poured a bucket of cold water over him and James fell into a lake.
Speaking about the gag, which took place when the pair were shooting the second series, to the Daily Express newspaper, he said: “No, that wasn’t a prank. That wasn’t meant to happen. I s**t myself. Seriously, I thought I put one of the most up and coming, exciting, charismatic actors in f*****g hospital. I thought it would be funny to throw a bucket of water over him and he fell over the edge and just disappeared.
“I thought, ‘Oh my God, he’s gone, he’s done.'”
And the star has admitted he was “reprimanded” severely by the programme’s producers and executives.
Speaking about his punishment, he said: “The horror of the telling off I got from the execs and producers – I was reprimanded.”
Meanwhile, Robson has teased he and James will jet off to Italy to film series three of the detective drama after basing the show in London and Cambridgeshire, and he believes the change of location will “work well” for their blossoming romance.
Speaking previously about a follow-up, he said: “There is talk of going abroad. If series two does the figures, we’re off in series three. We’ll probably go to Italy. I reckon we’ll be based in Tuscany or Lucca. I think it works well for the pair’s relationship to take them out of Grantchester.”

Ryan Lawrie lands publishing deal

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Lawrie has been offered a publishing deal.
The ‘X Factor’ contestants may not have had much luck when it came to singing on the talent show last year but his career in the music industry is far from over as he’s been approached by record executives to pen tracks for some household names.
A source told the Daily Star newspaper he’s been talking to “major” publishing companies about writing songs for other artists after generating “a lot of interest” from his appearance on ‘The X Factor’ last year. He’s working with some pretty decent people in the industry and has interest now from major publishing companies.
“He’s putting his own music career on hold to write other songs for others. He’s been working with signed writers and producers and everyone think he’s super talented.”
The 20-year-old heartthrob – who is romancing former rival Emily Middlemas – has remained tight-lipped on the rumours but that he’s got “exciting times ahead”.
Taking to his Twitter account, he said: “Never stop doing what you love.”
However, Ryan has a busy year ahead of him as not only is he songwriting, but he’s also performing on the ‘X Factor Live Tour’ and is planning his own tour after that.
He said last week: “Looks like I will be doing my own tour after The X Factor Tour! Where do you want me to come.”
Ryan isn’t the only one to chase after his dreams as Matt Terry – who won the show last year – has been signed to Sony RCA following the success of his single ‘When Christmas Comes Around,’ which was penned by Ed Sheeran.
Runner-up Saara Aalto, on the other hand, has secured a five-album deal with Sony Music UK and Sony Music Finland and has also been given a song written by Sia.
While wannabe rapper Honey G and 5 After Midnight have landed a deal with Syco.

Ross Kemp to return to EastEnders – again?

OHMYGOSSIP — Ross Kemp is set to return to ‘EastEnders’ – again.
The 52-year-old actor reprised his role as bad boy Grant Mitchell in the long-running soap temporarily last year but has teased that bosses have asked him to rejoin the cast again following the return of Michelle Fowler (Jenna Russell), with whom he has a son called Mark Jr. (Ned Porteous) that he’s only just found out again, at Christmas.
Speaking to OK! Online, he said when pressed on whether he would go back to Albert Square sometime this year: “You know what, in life, particularly if you work in television, who knows? Never rule out anything!”
However, the hunk has admitted that he doesn’t want to feature in the soap for too long as he’d rather focus on his documentaries and just make some cameos now and then.
He said: “Yeah of course I would [like to do more scenes for the soap], yeah, why not. If I got the opportunity to make documentaries and to act, why not do both?”
However, Ross – who has appeared in the programme on and off since 1990 – was “nervous” about reprising his hard man part last year because of “expectations.”
He explained: “I was quite nervous going back actually, there was a bit more expectation. When I first started, when I was 25 years old, a long time ago, no expectation. Now, you’ve hopefully got something to live up to.”
But, on reflection, Ross did thoroughly enjoy going back to his old stomping ground but just found it a little surreal seeing as he’d just finished shooting his TV series ‘Ross Kemp: Extreme World’ in Mongolia a few weeks before.
He said: “I loved going back [to ‘EastEnders’]. They say a change is as good as a break and one moment I was in Mongolia going down a coal mine meeting Nazis and then three days later I was in the dressing room at Elstree [where the soap is filmed].”

Vicky Pattison was refused entry to NTAs

OHMYGOSSIP — Vicky Pattison was refused entry into the National Television Awards.
The 29-year-old presenter became embroiled in a war of words with a female security guard in front of stunned onlookers after she was stopped from entering the glamorous event, held at London’s O2, on Wednesday (25.01.17)
A source told The Sun newspaper: “People were pushing to get into the party and Vicky was at the front of the queue. It was quite unfortunate but the security lady shouted at the group and Vicky barked back. She wasn’t going to be spoken to like that.”
However, the brunette beauty didn’t let the scuffle ruin her night as she later sashayed down the red carpet in her black floor-length gown and posed for photographs with her close friend former ‘TOWIE’ star Danielle Armstrong.
The former ‘Geordie Shore’ star attended the star-studded event with her ‘Extra Camp’ co-stars – including Joe Swash and Stacey Solomon – but was noticeably absent from the stage when the main show ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’ was chosen to take the crown for the Most Popular Challenge Show.
However, the brunette beauty didn’t lax on the celebrations as she spent the next day tied up to an IV drip after she travelled back to her hometown of Newcastle for a consultation with her trusty Dr Tijion Esho.

Casey Affleck nearly missed out on Manchester by the Sea role

OHMYGOSSIP — Casey Affleck got the part in ‘Manchester by the Sea’ because Matt Damon turned it down.
The 41-year-old actor – who is nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role at the Oscars for his part in the drama film – nearly lost out on the role to the ‘Jason Bourne’ star.
Speaking on ABC’s Popcorn with Peter Travers, Ben Affleck revealed: “Our production company [Pearl Street Films] has a credit on ‘Manchester by the Sea’ along with a lot of other people but that’s one of the ways that Matt originally developed that movie, looking to develop his own material.
“These production companies that actors have are … because they feel they aren’t getting enough good scripts, finding all the good books or the good stories. They want to chase down the good writers and in the case of ‘Manchester by the Sea’ to write the whole movie. Casey got the job because Matt didn’t do it.”
Meanwhile, Ben – who has Violet, 11, Seraphina, eight, and Samuel, four, with his wife Jennifer Garner – previously admitted he was “more nervous” for his brother Casey at the Golden Globes, when he picked up the Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama at the event.
He said: “I was more nervous for him than I ever have been for myself. My kids stayed up to watch it.
“I went home today and I asked my four-year-old, ‘Sam, did you see Uncle Casey up there? Did you see what happened?’ And he said, ‘The man said Casey Affleck!'”
And Ben is incredibly thankful for his friendship with Matt Damon, who he has known since childhood.
He said: “I can’t tell you how valuable it is to have somebody who’s been through things with you, ups and downs, who knows what your life experience is like, who can identify with that.
“It’s an incredibly valuable friendship and it’s very precious and so is my friendship with my brother. I don’t know what I would do without those guys.”

Milla Jovovich's nerves for daughter Ever

OHMYGOSSIP — Milla Jovovich was “nervous” about letting her daughter star in ‘Resident Evil: The Final Chapter’.
The 41-year-old actress – who plays the lead role in the film franchise – has revealed her nine-year-old daughter Ever underwent two years of training to secure the part.
She said: “To be an actress, it’s not just like, ‘Oh yeah, we’re going to put you in a movie.’ She went through two years of training. I don’t let her model. I said, ‘Those [jobs] come too easily. If you get the part in the movie, we’ll let you do the movie because you auditioned. You worked on it.’
“I was nervous, I said, ‘I don’t want to torture our daughter, I don’t want to burn her out. The last thing we want to do is like, nip this in the bud.”
And Milla – who also has 20-month-old son Dashiel with her husband Paul W. S. Anderson – was thrilled with how “professional” her daughter was on set.
She added: “Not only did she bring all this talent to the table, but she was very professional and very well-behaved on set and was very serious about what she was doing. I didn’t have to play the mom card or anything, she got it. It was unbelievable.”
And Milla understands how the pressures of fame can affect young people but will do her best to avoid that happening for her daughter by making sure she works to get to where she is.
She told Entertainment Tonight: “I think one of the biggest problems that young actors or celebrities have in this industry is too much too fast.
“They get that overnight success and suddenly everyone is sending them cars, and champagne and presents … they suddenly feel like superstars, but they’re not. So we’re just trying to make sure that she works for it.”

Mel Gibson: Directing can be torture but I love it

OHMYGOSSIP — Mel Gibson says directing is “torture” for him but he “loves it”.
The 61-year-old star may have won a Best Director Oscar for his 13th Century epic ‘Braveheart’ – which also was named Best Picture at the 1996 Academy Awards – but he admits he doesn’t always enjoy being behind the camera because of the frustrations that go with being the chief decision maker.
Gibson – who has returned to the directors’ chair for World War II biographical drama ‘Hacksaw Ridge’ some 10 years after he helmed ‘Apocalypto’ – said: “I love it. It’s torture. But I love it. The thousand questions a day. The angst. There’s a lot of traffic cop stuff going on, ‘Ah put that over there, bring this through!’ You get to work with amazingly gifted people and you have the smorgasbord of choices. Your own, plus everyone else’s.”
The film, written by Robert Schenkkan and Andrew Knight, tells the story of American Army medic Desmond T. Doss (Andrew Garfield), who served during the Battle of Okinawa as a conscientious objector he refused to take up arms and instead focused on saving the lives of his wounded fellow soldiers.
His actions made him the first conscientious objector to receive the Medal of Honor.
As with any war film, blood and gore is a given, but Gibson admits it was “hard” deciding how much blood and guts to show.
In an interview with the Metro newspaper, he explained: “It was hard. I don’t think it was overindulgent but I think you have to have an appreciation of the hellishness and the horror of war – and what it takes to rise above that, to understand what someone’s spirit can propel them to do.”
‘Hacksaw Ridge’ has been universally praised by critics and has been nominated for six Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director for Gibson and Best Actor for Garfield.
Despite the acclaim, Gibson insists he doesn’t pay any attention to reviews.
He shared: “Yes I did (learn to ignore the critics) because it’s kind of crazy. You go from accolades to damnation on the same piece of work. And what’s the difference? Was the popcorn tainted on that showing? I don’t know. You’re not going to please everybody, so you’re just going to have to please yourself and hope other people will relate to it the same way you do.”

Mark Labbett snubbed I'm A Celeb gig

OHMYGOSSIP — The Chase’s Mark Labbett has turned down ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’.
The 51-year-old mastermind – who weighs 378lbs – was asked to take part in the creepy-crawly show last year but he was forced to reject the offer because he didn’t think the basic diet of rice and beans would be substantial enough for him and he’d probably have to resort to munching on his fellow campmates in order to live.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, he said: “I’ve been asked to do the jungle but the base calorie intake is about 700. Look at me! If I survived a week I’d drop three stone and cannibalism would be on the cards. On ‘Sugar Free Farm’ [which he did last year] the weight fell off me because I couldn’t eat enough. Does ‘The Chase’ need me big? Put it this way, whenever I start losing weight because I’m doing a fitness kick of whatever, the producers go past me and hand me a second portion of pudding.”
Mark – who is known on the game show as The Beast – came under fire last year after he stormed off set and punched a wall after he lost out to a group of contestants.
But, although that was the first time the scenes have been aired, Mark has admitted he quite often struggles to contain his anger when he loses and regularly storms off.
He explained: “I have punched the wall a few times over the years, but this is the first time it had got a big mention. I think I am the best in the world at what I do. I crave big wins, that is what gives you a reputation and to me, reputation is everything.”

Megan McKenna and Pete Wicks' blazing row at National Television Awards

OHMYGOSSIP — Megan McKenna and Pete Wicks had a huge row at the National Television Awards.
The relationship status of the ‘Only Way Is Essex’ stars is currently unknown after they were spotted having a blazing row at the after party of the glitzy bash.
Their argument begun in the backstage area of the O2 Arena, where guests had gathered to celebrate the show’s winners.
Their cast mates watched on in horror as Megan ran off in tears following a massive argument with her beau.
Pete swiftly followed Megan out of the venue before he was seen on his phone in the lobby area. When Megan noticed him, she called out for him, screaming his name, but he opted to ignore her and headed in the other direction.
A source close to Megan told The Sun Online: “One minute they’re on, the next they’re off and then they’re on again. Currently we don’t know the status of the the relationship.”
It comes after the pair appeared to look tense as they posed for photos on the red carpet.
Meanwhile, Megan previously confessed she wants to have a baby within the next four years.
The 26-year-old beauty said: “I’d really like to have kids before I’m 30 so I think I need to have kids by the time I am 28. I have a good four years before I need to think about it! Basically I want to be able to have my career and my business all around me first. I want to feel satisfied with what I am doing professional before I settle down and have children.”
Megan recently rekindled her romance with Pete after she caught him sending sexy messages to a number of girls behind her back and is just taking “each day as it comes”.
She added: “I’m going to take each day as it comes. We’re just like any normal couple – there’s going to be s**t times , but there’s also going to be amazing times.”

Ted Reilly snogs mystery blonde at NTAs

OHMYGOSSIP — EastEnders’ Ted Reilly dragged a mystery blonde into a busy corridor and spent 45-minutes snogging her face off at the National Television Awards after party.
The 22-year-old heartthrob – who portrays gay student lawyer Johnny Carter in the long-running soap – dropped jaws on Wednesday (25.01.17) when he pulled a stunning woman, whose identity is not yet known, out of the celebratory bash held at London’s O2, pressed her against the wall and made out with her in front of stunned onlookers.
An eye witness told The Sun newspaper: “The after party finished at 1am but Ted wasn’t ready for it to end. He moved into a corridor near the exit with the woman where they got very passionate against a wall. They were kissing for absolutely ages and it got a little awkward when fans kept disrupting them for selfies.
“Ted didn’t look too bothered though — they continued for almost an hour. But just before 2am staff asked them to leave because they were blocking a doorway.”
However, Ted’s lack of concern no doubt stemmed from the fact he’d reportedly spent six hours knocking back the booze with his co-stars throughout the star-studded event.
But it wasn’t just Ted who had struggled to stay away from the bottle as his on-screen father Danny Dyer – who plays loveable landlord Mick Carter in the show – was planning to give up alcohol for the entire month as part of the ‘Dry January Challenge’ but failed to stick to his bright idea just 25 days in and was spotted gulping down lager.
He explained: “I did try to give up drinking but, I’m now sucking on a lager. I will go on a seven-day bender. I’ll go and put my pyjamas on then get on it. Nice ‘jamas I have.”

Candice Brown to get married

OHMYGOSSIP — Candice Brown is planning to get married.
The ‘Great British Bake Off’ winner – who shot to fame after swiping the crown for the the last series of the popular cooking show – is keen to take her relationship with her long-term partner Liam Macaulay to the next level by getting hitched in the near future.
Liam told The Sun newspaper: “Yes of course we are going to get married. We already have a pug together — that’s the ultimate sign of commitment. A number of our relatives have been having weddings lately, so the pressure is on.”
And, although they’re yet to put plans for their big day into motion, the couple have already been approached by some major publications for the rights to the ceremony.
An insider explained: “Candice is a huge star after ‘Bake Off’ and people are fascinated with her life. Hello! [magazine] has already approached the couple. It would easily cover all the costs so they could do something really special. Candice is actually really normal and overwhelmed by the attention so hasn’t made any commitment.”
The duo – who currently reside in Bedford – met in 2012 but, despite being smitten with one another, their relationship hit the headlines last year after the lip stick-loving baker arrived on television screens in the hope of picking up the ‘GBBO’ trophy.
Just weeks after the competition was aired, it was revealed Liam had previously served a 16-month jail term – a year before he met Candice – for dealing cannabis.
Liam and an accessory were detained with £7,000 worth of drugs in their possession 2009 after they were pulled over as they drove from Edinburgh to Inverness in Scotland.
Despite the backlash, Candice is adamant she had nothing to do with the crime.
