Pedro Almodovar named as Cannes Film Festival President

OHMYGOSSIP — Pedro Almodovar has been named as the President of the Jury for the 70th Cannes Film Festival in May.
The ‘Julieta’ director has been chosen to chair the annual movie extravaganza held in the South of France from May 17 to May 28 and he admits he is “honoured” to have been offered the prestigious position.
In a statement confirming his appointment, he said: “I am very happy to be able to celebrate Cannes Film Festival’s 70th anniversary from such a privileged position. I am grateful, honoured and bit overwhelmed. I am aware of the responsibility that entails being the president of the jury and I hope to be up to the job. I can only tell that I’ll devote myself, body and soul to this task, that it is both a privilege and a pleasure.”
The 67-year-old Spanish filmmaker was previously a member of the Cannes jury under the presidency of Gérard Depardieu back in 1992.
Almodovar’s movie-making career has spanned four decades and some of his most acclaimed films include ‘Pepi, Luci, Bom’, ‘All About My Mother’ and ‘Volver’ and he has worked with esteemed stars such as Penélope Cruz and her husband Javier Bardem, Gael Garcia Bernal, Marisa Paredes, Antonio Banderas and Rossy de Palma.
His movie ‘Bad Education’ opened the festival in 2004 and five of his films have been selected In Competition in Cannes.

Peter Capaldi to make final Doctor Who appearance at Christmas

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Capaldi’s final appearance in ‘Doctor Who’ will be in the 2017 Christmas special.
The 58-year-old actor has confirmed his third series in the TARDIS as the Twelfth Doctor will be his last and he will bow out to let his replacement regenerate into the role in the festive story.
The adventure will also be current showrunner Steven Moffat’s final episode in charge before he hands over control of the sci-fi series to ‘Broadchurch’ creator Chris Chibnall.
Capaldi’s final series begins over Easter weekend on BBC One on Saturday April 15 and this last outing will air on Christmas Day (25.12.17).
Capaldi announced he was leaving during an interview with DJ Jo Whiley – a self-confessed Whovian – on BBC Radio 2.
He said: “I suppose the big thing about [the new series] is it’ll be my last. This’ll be the end for me. I feel sad – I love ‘Doctor Who’. It’s a fantastic programme to work on. It’s been a huge pleasure to work with … a family, I can’t praise the people I work with more highly.
“I’ve never worked the same job for three years, and I feel like now is the right time to move on. [But] I’ll still be the Doctor for a while.”
And life-long ‘Doctor Who’ fan Capaldi – who took over the part from Eleventh Doctor Matt Smith in 2013 – admitted no other acting job had meant so much to him during his career.
He said: “There’s never been anything more special for me. One of the greatest privileges of being Doctor Who is to see the world at its best. From our brilliant crew and creative team working for the best broadcaster on the planet, to the viewers and fans whose endless creativity, generosity and inclusiveness points to a brighter future ahead. I can’t thank everyone enough. It’s been cosmic.”
Capaldi will be joined in Series 10 by newcomer Pearl Mackie who portrays unknown companion Bill Potts, Matt Lucas reprising his role as Nardole and Michelle Gomez returning as Time Lady Missy – formerly known as The Master.

Sir Bradley Wiggins' Strictly Come Dancing snub

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Bradley Wiggins turned down the chance to compete on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 36-year-old former professional road and track racing cyclist was asked to take part in the ballroom and latin show last year but he snubbed the offer because he wasn’t keen on slipping his fake bronzed skin into tight lycra embellished with crystals.
He said: “I definitely don’t fancy putting on any Strictly lycra and sparkles.”
But, although he rejected the dance show because of the skimpy outfits, Bradley leaped at the chance to hit the ski slopes in Austria for the winter series ‘The Jump’.
He told The Sun newspaper: “It’s not too bad for me because everyone’s used to seeing me in my cycling kit. So it’s not such a shock to the system like it is for the others.”
However, the athlete isn’t impressed with how his manhood looks in his thermals and him and the other male contestants – Louis Smith, Gareth Thomas, Spencer Matthews, Robbie Fowler, Mark Dolan and Jason Robinson – are planning to stuff socks down their kit to give the illusion they have a bigger bulge when the show kicks off this weekend.
Vogue Williams – who is also competing on the winter sports show – said: “To be honest, I’m glad I’m not a boy. The boys are going to have to do some stuffing down there to make sure they have the biggest package. I can understand that. If I see a guy in cycling gear or something like that then I can’t help but look down. I feel like such a perv but I can’t help it.”
But the competition doesn’t just stop at their private parts as Bradley is determined to do all he can to secure the crown when he goes up against the other competitors.
He explained: “Once we get up there under the floodlights and racing against someone, you’ve got to start focusing. I think we’re racing each other, aren’t we?”

Rosie Webster to have raunchy fling

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Coronation Street’s Rosie Webster is set to embark on a raunchy fling upon her return.
The bolshie brunette model – who is portrayed by Helen Flanagan – will return to the cobbles later this month with her innocent sister Sophie (Brooke Vincent) when they get caught in a drugs scam but it won’t be long before she gets her mitts on a new man.
Speaking to the RadioTimes.com, Helen said: “She has a fling, but I don’t know who with yet. It’ll be interesting to see who she hooks up with. I enjoy Rosie being in a relationship because you can really play off that.
“There’s a spark and an instant attraction between Rosie and Adam Barlow (Samuel Robertson) but I don’t know what will happen between them.
“He’s a bit of a wolf and a womaniser and I don’t think Rosie would be very happy about that. I don’t think he’s very nice either!”
Helen, 26, left the soap five years ago to explore other things and has since had a baby girl called Matilda, now 19 months, with her long-term boyfriend Scott Sinclair.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “When I left [‘Coronation Street’], I wasn’t too sure what I wanted to do. I just knew I wanted to have a break.
“I was 21 and I’m 26 now, so it’s completely different. I’ve matured and I’ve got a little girl, which makes you grow up a lot. I see it completely differently now I’ve come back.
“When I was younger I enjoyed it but didn’t really appreciate what a good job I had. When you go away for a while it can make you really appreciate it.”

Helen Skelton's son thrown out of playgroup

OHMYGOSSIP — Helen Skelton’s son was thrown out of a playgroup in France for screaming.
The ‘Countryfile’ presenter’s 19-month-old son Ernie – who she has with husband Richie Myler – had to leave the creche after just 20 minutes because he wouldn’t stop shouting, and the 33-year-old beauty has admitted she felt “sick” after embarrassingly walking out.
Taking to Instagram to share a picture of Ernie sleeping in his car seat in the back, she wrote: “Worst day of my parenting life. Asked to leave after 20 mins. Screamed the place down screaming his version of “mama let’s go!” Constantly. #parentfail #kidswinning #mumfail #childcare (sic)”
The blonde beauty – who is expecting her second child with the 26-year-old professional rugby star – was feeling “nervous” about taking her little boy to the child care centre.
Before going in, she shared a picture of him walking through the playground, with the caption: “French play group …. let’s do this …. why do I feel sick ….. #nervousparent #family #mum #toddler #childcare #school #family (sic)”
Helen has since taken to Twitter to admit that it was her fault her son was told to leave and praised the centre’s staff.
She wrote: “Wow storm in a tea cup: we love the French crèche. Staff are superb! Can’t account for a toddler mood sometimes! My fault not theirs xx (sic)”
It comes two months after Helen announced she is pregnant again in a series of adorable tweets.
One post featured her son grinning and holding a board which read “Ready for my partner in crime, due Spring 2017.”
The former ‘Blue Peter’ presenter captioned the photo: “Three getting set to become four. #newbaby #feelingblessed (sic)”
On another photo of the whole family, Helen simply wrote: “#newbaby (sic)”
And sources close to the couple say they’re “excited” to welcome the bundle of joy next year.
An insider said: “They are excited Ernie will have a brother or sister. It’s due in Spring 2017.”

Shah Rukh Khan feels 'awkward' being called the King of Bollywood

OHMYGOSSIP — Shah Rukh Khan feels “awkward” when people call him the ‘King of Bollywood’.
The 51-year-old actor – also known as SRK – has been bestowed the title having appeared in more than 80 Bollywood films and won numerous awards for his films.
His latest movie is action thriller ‘Raees’, a crime drama set in India in the 1980s, sees Khan makes his 84th feature film appearance but he still struggles to get his head around the extent of his fame.
In an interview with the Metro newspaper, Khan said: “I come from a very humble background in Dehli. I came to the movie industry from the outside – from TV and theatre. So when they started calling me ‘King of Bollywood’ I felt awkward – I don’t feel so entitled. But I’m glad they call me ‘king’ rather than something derogatory. It’s a nice name. I don’t have a crown. Maybe someday like Mr [Sir] Elton John!”
Khan also vehemently disagrees with suggestions that the appeal of Bollywood is lessening.
He said: “Every few years there is a conversation about this. The solution is that change is gradual as society changes – but Bollywood is certainly not in crisis. The stories remain more or less the same as when I was a 26 playing a sweet college kid, it’s just the language for telling them is changing. And the technology is such that Indian cinema can venture into different genres, such as science fiction and superhero films, which is exciting for me as a producer.”
And when it comes to superheroes, Khan has revealed he’d love to play the role of Batman one day.
He said: “I was a big Batman fan growing up – I still am. I don’t know if I have the height to play him but I have the darkness and I love the costume.”
Khan has a net worth of $600 million but he claims he doesn’t worry about what he’s earning or has amassed and lets other people do that for him.
He said: “I’m not a businessman at all. To be honest I’m not successful at it. I keep telling Forbes when they list me, ‘You’ve got the wrong guy!’ I have 200 to 300 people all working for me, all professional people. I just do the stuff I know which is acting. My experts handle all the other stuff.”

Scarface remake loses director Antoine Fuqua

OHMYGOSSIP — Antoine Fuqua has quit the ‘Scarface’ remake.
The 51-year-old director was set to helm Universal’s reimagining of the iconic gangster film but, according to Variety, Fuqua has left the project to work on ‘The Equalizer’ sequel.
Sony Pictures are keen to get production started on the action follow-up – starring Denzel Washington – as soon as possible and Fuqua, 51, doesn’t have time in his schedule to shoot both projects.
It is understood that Fuqua wanted to direct ‘Scarface’ – originally released in 1983 and starring Al Pacino has Colombian refugee Tony Montana who becomes Miami’s biggest drug lord – and he and his team tried to work a way around scheduling conflict but since he had already invested so much time developing the script for ‘The Equalizer 2’ it was not possible.
Although Fuqua is no longer attached to the movie, shooting on ‘Scarface’ is still scheduled to start in the spring and the search for a new director is underway.
‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” actor Diego Luna is set to take on the lead role of the drug kingpin with the story shifted from Miami to Los Angeles and focusing on a Mexican immigrant instead of a Colombian.
The film is a production by Bluegrass Films and Global Produce, and will see Marc Shmuger, Scott Stuber, and Dylan Clark as its producers, alongside original ‘Scarface’ producer Marty Bregman.
The most recent draft of the script has been penned by ‘Boardwalk Empire’ creator Terence Winter who is tasked with reimagining the core immigrant story told in the cult classic.

Natalie J Robb slept in car

OHMYGOSSIP — Natalie J Robb slept in her car when she first moved to London.
The 42-year-old actress – who plays Moira Barton on ITV soap ‘Emmerdale’ – has confessed she had to stay in her vehicle “for a couple of weeks” as her accommodation with her cousin fell through initially.
She said: “I didn’t have the money to set up properly. I was OK, but I lived in my car for a couple of weeks when I first came down.
“I was due to stay with my cousin but he had another lodger meaning I couldn’t stay straight away so I just slept in my car. I didn’t mind – I just thought it was all part of the experience.”
And Natalie admits it was “scary” making the big move.
She added: “I looked up to the sky to ask the universe and thought I’m going to do this and follow this dream and if it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work but, back me up, will you? When you’re young you don’t really care. You have that lovely no-fear factor. I think fear can hold a lot of people back.”
And Natalie’s tough start certainly paid dividends as she was recently nominated for Best Serial Drama Performance at the National Television Awards last week.
Speaking about the honour of being nominated, she told the Sunday Post: “My big storyline with the shock death of Holly was just at the time voting opened.
“We had kept her death a secret so the audience had a true sense of shock just like Moira would have had. So they were on Moira’s side throughout her journey.”
Meanwhile, Natalie previously admitted she was “crying for 10 hours a day” when her on-screen daughter Holly, played by Sophie Powles, passed away.
She shared: “It’s still fun. The crew are lovely, the cast are lovely, we do have a laugh. There’s never a day that goes by that I haven’t had a smile or a laugh.
“The [daughter] Holly death stuff granted I was crying for 10 hours a day, so that was tough, it takes it out of you. But then you always have a laugh and see the funny side because it isn’t real.”

Bianca Gascoigne shocked by Jamie O'Hara's eviction

OHMYGOSSIP — Bianca Gascoigne thought Jamie O’Hara’s eviction on ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ was “vile”.
The 30-year-old model and Jamie developed an intimate relationship during their time together in the house and in the immediate aftermath of Jamie’s abrupt departure on Monday’s (30.01.17) episode, Bianca admitted to being in a state of disbelief.
She said in the Diary Room: “Big Brother, what the hell is going on? I don’t feel he has gone. I don’t know if it’s wishful thinking. Personally, I think he is still here. I don’t know if I’m tricking myself on this or I don’t think he has gone.”
But Big Brother responded: “Bianca, Big Brother can confirm Jamie has been evicted from the house and shortly his suitcases will be delivered to the house for housemates to pack for him.”
Jamie, 30, was unceremoniously evicted at the end of the judge and jury task – and the sudden nature of his exit meant he didn’t even have time to say any proper goodbyes to his housemates.
Reflecting on the situation, Bianca said: “I just feel horrific and it doesn’t seem real that he would leave in that way. We’ve all been suffering like lab rats and then he gets handcuffed and shown out the back door. I’m sorry, but that is just vile.”
Jamie’s eviction came shortly after he admitted he loves “everything” about Bianca after they shared a passionate kiss in the house.
He told her: “Love is a strong word but I love everything about you, I could definitely fall in love with you, one million percent.”
Bianca – who has a boyfriend outside the house – also confessed she has “completely fallen” for Jamie.
She said: “We care for each other, we just connect.”

James Cameron: The Oscars are biased against blockbuster movies

OHMYGOSSIP — James Cameron thinks the Oscars are biased against blockbuster films.
The 62-year-old director has helmed some of the most profitable movies in history, including ‘Titanic’, but has suggested there is a certain snobbishness attached to the Academy Awards.
James said: “There have been a few times throughout the history of the Oscars where a wildly popular film was well-received, but your typical year the Academy takes the position of: ‘It is our patrician duty to tell the great unwashed what they should be watching,’ and they don’t reward the films that people really want to see – that they’re paying money to go see – and they’re telling them, ‘Yeah, you think you like that, but what you should be liking is this.’
“And as long as the Academy sees that as their duty, don’t expect high ratings. Expect a good show, and do that duty, but don’t whine about your ratings.”
James admitted ‘Titanic’ – which earned him Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Film Editing – was one notable exception to his theory.
He told the Daily Beast: “‘Titanic’ was a very unusual case. I’m not saying it’s a better film than films before or after, or it was necessarily a better year in general, but it was a film that made a boatload of money and got a lot of nominations.”
He said, too, that interest in the Oscars would increase if the Academy was more willing to embrace more mainstream movies, as it did with ‘Titanic’, which starred Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet.
He explained: “The next time we see that, we’ll see ratings go up. It’s that simple.”

Ben Affleck won't direct The Batman

OHMYGOSSIP — Ben Affleck will not direct ‘The Batman’ standalone movie.
The 44-year-old actor – who will play the titular role in the film – has confirmed someone else will be taking the helm of the movie so he can concentrate on giving the role of Batman the “passion” it deserves.
In a statement, he said: “There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions. Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require.
“Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film. I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director. I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world.”
Whilst Warner Bros. added in their own statement: “Warner Bros. fully supports Ben Affleck’s decision and remains committed to working with him to bring a standalone Batman picture to life.”
Ben – who will still produce the movie – is also working on the script and recently revealed they are “taking a little extra care” to make sure it is spot on.
He shared: “We’re still working on the script, taking a little extra time and a little extra care to really get it right on paper first. But it’s looking very good and I’m excited about it.”
And understandably, the script is very important to Ben as he previously insisted he won’t make the movie if the script isn’t “good enough”.
He said: “I’m still working on the script. I’m not going to write and direct anything that I don’t think is good enough to be made. I’m definitely going to make sure I have something that is special –  there’s not enough money in the world to make a mediocre version of Batman worth it.”
‘The Batman’ is expected to be released in 2018.

Stephanie Davis to release second autobiography

OHMYGOSSIP — Stephanie Davis is planning to release a second autobiography.
The 23-year-old actress hasn’t yet dropped her debut book, which is set for release in June this year, but she’s already thinking about penning another installment on her life in the near future because she has so much stuff she wants to share with her fans.
Speaking to OK! magazine, she explained: “I’ve just finished working on it, but there was so much to get in that I’m definitely going to have to do another book at some point. It’s got some gunny moments in there, but I think a lot of people will be shocked by what’s in it. It was important to me that people know my full story.
“Reading the book will hopefully help people realise why I’ve made some of the decisions I have over the past year and why I’ve acted in certain way.
“There’s a lot of people who don’t know about me. It’s out on June 29 – I can’t wait for people to read it and to see what everyone thinks.”
The former ‘Hollyoaks’ star will have even more experiences to jam into her second book as she’s just become a mother to her first child – Caben-Albi George Davis.
The little one was welcomed into the world on January 13 following a gruelling labour and tough nine-month pregnancy plagued with morning sickness and hospital dashes.
She said: “I’m extremely exhausted but feeling on top of the world. Every time I looka t him I feel like a superhero – I can’t believe that my body producers something so perfect. I didn’t have the best pregnancy but having him here makes it all worth it.”

Peter Capaldi to leave Doctor Who this year

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Capaldi will step down from his role in ‘Doctor Who’ after the upcoming series.
The 58-year-old actor became the 12th actor to take on the titular regenerating sci-fi character in 2013, but has announced he will be taking his final bow on the BBC drama later this year as he believes it is “time” for him to move on.
Speaking to Jo Whiley during an appearance on UK radio station BBC Radio 2, Peter said: “I feel it’s time to move on.
“I feel sad, I love Doctor Who, it is a fantastic programme to work on.
“It can’t praise the people I work with more highly, but I have always been someone that did a lot of different things.”
The upcoming series is set to air this spring, but Peter says his run as the Doctor will continue until the annual Christmas special at the end of this year.
Peter’s decision to leave the show may not come as a shock to all fans, as his exit will coincide with the departure of showrunner Steven Moffat, leaving the new show boss Chris Chibnall – the creator of the ITV crime drama ‘Broadchurch’ – with a clean slate.
Speaking in a statement, 55-year-old Steven said: “Peter’s amazing, fiery, turbulent Doctor is still fighting the good fight, and his greatest adventures are yet to come. Monsters of the universe, be on your guard – Capaldi’s not done with you yet!
“Like Peter, I’m facing up to leaving the best job I’ll ever have, but knowing I do so in the company of the best, and kindest and cleverest of men, makes the saddest of endings a little sweeter.”
Whilst Charlotte Moore, director of BBC Content, said: “He has been a tremendous Doctor who has brought his own unique wisdom and charisma to the role.”

Katherine Kelly turned down roles for kids

OHMYGOSSIP — Katherine Kelly has turned down acting roles because she couldn’t cope with them on top of being a mother.
The 37-year-old actress has had to say no to a few jobs because they weren’t suitable hours or too far away from home, which meant she couldn’t be around to look after her three-year-old daughter Orla and three-month-old baby girl, whose name is not yet known, whom she has with husband Ryan Clark.
Asked what work she has coming up on ‘This Morning’ on Monday (30.01.17), she said: “I am still not 100 per cent sure it is the right job. A few jobs came along but I just couldn’t make them work. They were a bit too early or a bit too far away.
“It’s just a case of … there is something we might be able to work with, but I’ve just got to ask a few people if they can help out.”
The former ‘Coronation Street’ star admits that it was only possible to shoot her role as physics teacher Miss Quill in ‘Doctor Who’ spin-off ‘Class’ because she had the support of her “helpful” family and husband.
She explained: “I try you can only do it if you have really helpful and loving people around you. I’ve got a great husband, and I am not just saying that, and family that all help out. Instead of getting a script and thinking I really want to do this job I have to think how is this going to work? How are we going to make this work.
“If I didn’t have the backup I just wouldn’t be able to do it.”
The blonde beauty admits that having two children is “chaos”.
She confessed: “One is a pet and two is a zoo right? It is chaos. I was up six times last night, but four times with the two and a half year old.”

Stephanie Davis is arranging DNA test

OHMYGOSSIP — Stephanie Davis is in the “process” of arranging a paternity test.
The 23-year-old actress hasn’t heard from her ex-boyfriend Jeremy McConnell since she fell pregnant with her son Caben-Albi – who was born on January 13 – but she’s still agreed to have the DNA test carried out on the little one to prove the Irish hunk, who she split from in May last year following a series of blazing rows, is his father.
Speaking to OK! magazine, she said of her former flame: “I haven’t heard from Jeremy directly for nine months. That’s [the paternity test] in the process of being arranged, but any tests that happen will be dealt with privately. I’m a new mum and dealing with all that brings, so I will deal with everything in my own time and I won’t feel pressured. My priority is bring up my son and giving him all the care he needs.”
Although the 26-year-old heartthrob is adamant he has nothing to do with Caben, the former ‘Hollyoaks’ actress is “100 per cent” certain he’s the father of her child.
She explained: “My son is 100 per cent Jeremy’s baby – and a paternity test will prove it. Jeremy said a long time ago that I wasn’t even pregnant, and then that he wasn’t sure if he was the dad. He had to stand by that throughout my pregnancy.”
Stephanie still hasn’t decided whether she will allow Jeremy – who she met in the ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ house in January last year – to see the little one in the future.
She said: “I don’t know what will happen in the future but for the moment I’m enjoying being a first-time mother. My only priority at the moment is my son.”

Ryan Ruckledge was beaten up

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Ruckledge and his partner Hughie Maughan were beaten in a vicious homophobic attack in Ireland in the early hours of Sunday (29.01.17) morning.
The ‘Big Brother’ star and his fiancé were left fearing for their lives yesterday when they were targeted by a gang of men on Dame Street, Dublin, as they left a nightclub.
Speaking to the Irish Sun newspaper, Hughie said: “It was absolutely terrifying. These men recognised us from TV and one of them said something to Ryan, who said something back. The guy then just hit Ryan in the face. I ran over to help and the other guys then jumped on me. They were shouting all these homophobic things at us. They were really horrible, horrible people shouting all these names at us.
“They must have had me by my hair as I’ve got a huge lump of hair missing and a lump on my head. Ryan got a cut over his eye and his foot feels broken because we ended up on the ground. I think it’s terrible in 2017. Two men can get attacked on the streets of Dublin just for their sexuality. I was terrified so we are both just relieved to be OK, it could have been a lot worse. We will probably go up to the hospital now.”
Following the assault, the pair are planning to jet abroad to Tenerife, Spain, later this week to start a fresh away from the winter weather in Ireland and boozy nights out.
Ryan tweeted: “Moving to Tenerife on Thursday with Hughie so excited.”
It seems like their relationship is moving at the speed of light as they got engaged in the summer last year after they met on the 2016 version of ‘Big Brother’.
Ryan said at the time: “So the cats out the bag me and @hughie_maughan are officially engaged! So happy and can’t wait for the future #biggaygypsywedding ?? (sic).”
Hughie, 22, also tweeted: “FINALLY me and ryan can announce that we are officially ENGAGED! We are so happy and everythin feels right, huge hi five 2 the doubters (sic).”
