Dannii Minogue wants more UK TV work

OHMYGOSSIP — Dannii Minogue wants to try and bag some more television work in the UK.
The 45-year-old singer – who is the sister of pop superstar Kylie Minogue – is currently working on the judging panel for Gary Barlow’s talent show ‘Let It Shine’ and has admitted she’d really like to land some more roles, providing it fits around her six-year-old son Ethan, whom she has with her ex-boyfriend Kris Smith, and his schooling.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I’d do more [UK television work] as long as Ethan can have a settled life and school life. I’m not keen on home schooling and travelling and dragging him around, but I am definitely up for coming here and working.”
And, although the second series of the all-singing all-dancing show is yet to be given the go ahead, the brunette beauty would be open to making a return as a judge.
She explained: “I don’t know what they have got planned but it has been such a joy to work on, so absolutely. If they could come back with another great prize, then definitely.”
Dannii is no stranger to working in the UK as she was previously employed as a judge on ‘The X Factor’, during which time she clashed with her co-star Sharon Osbourne on numerous occasions, before she quit the talent show to move back to Australia.
Speaking of her arch-enemy recently, Dannii explained: “I honestly don’t think about Sharon. I heard she was making comments about me again, and it’s a one-sided argument that I’m not involved in. She’s just not a part of my life.”
Aside from her long-running feud with Sharon, Dannii was also struggling with confidence on the show and relied on Botox injections to help her anxiety.
She said: “There was a lot of pain in my personal life and I felt more settled using Botox. That was my crutch through the tough times. I’m clearly not using it now! I am in a good place.”

Jenna Coleman shoots Victoria S2

OHMYGOSSIP — Jenna Coleman has started shooting the second series of ‘Victoria’.
The 30-year-old actress – who portrays the late Queen Victoria in the period drama – has reunited with her co-stars Tom Hughes, David Oakes, Nell Hudson and Eve Myles, to name a few, to film the forthcoming installment of the show in London.
The news was announced on the show’s official Twitter account on Tuesday (14.02.17) when a photograph of the cast surrounded by a camera crew was shared online.
It was accompanied with the caption: “And so series 2 begins… #Victoria (sic).”
ITV bosses were given the go ahead to do another series last year – just weeks after its debut on screen last September – and a festive special this year is also in the pipeline.
And it seems there may be more series on the way as the writer Daisy Goodwin still has ideas up her sleeve that she’d like to put into a script over the next few years.
Jenna explained previously: “We’re doing season two and then it’s a question of where we go from there. There’s no shortage of story. You don’t want to go through it too quickly. There are nine children to have, so there is a long way to go.”
The 30-year-old star previously admitted she was sceptical about taking on the lead role, but has now admitted that it was the story that sucked her in to the part.
She said: “People know certain things about her but the first three years of her reign haven’t been told before on screen. It’s quite modern as well. It’s about a young girl who had a huge personality and was surrounded by people who expected her to fail.
“She was the most powerful woman in the world at 18 years of age when women didn’t even have the vote. It’s got huge appeal on top of it being a true story and a great love story – and what they’ve achieved, capturing the Victorian era with beautiful set designs and costumes, has been fantastic.”

Scarlett Johansson: Black Widow is 'right' for a standalone

OHMYGOSSIP — Scarlett Johansson thinks her ‘Avengers’ character Black Widow is “right for a standalone” movie.
The 32-year-old actress stars as Natasha Romanoff and her superhero alter-ego in the Marvel Comics ensemble movie franchise and has “talked” with Marvel boss Kevin Feige about the possibility of giving the character her own movie.
She said: “I’ve talked to Kevin Feige about it. We’re creatively really compatible. I think we both agree that the character is right for a standalone, it’s just a case of timing at this point for both Marvel and myself.”
But Scarlett adds that Marvel’s “really huge roster” of planned projects could prove difficult to work with.
She added: “Marvel has a really huge roster. They’re looking four years ahead. I also have a lot of things that I want to do. If I did it, I would dedicate myself completely to making it amazing. It would have to be the best version that movie could possibly be. Otherwise, I would never do it.”
Scarlett – who has two-year-old daughter Rose with her estranged husband Romain Dauriac – also isn’t sure she has the “capacity” to take on her own movie, but notes the project has the potential to be “awesome”.
She told Total Film magazine: “[I] don’t know if I have the capacity for it. I think the fans were adamant about it, it could be done. It should be done, probably. It’d have to be done the right way, though. It’d really have to be its own standalone and its own style and its own story. But there’s a lot of great stuff that you could do with it. It could just be awesome.”

Keanu Reeves wanted John Wick to 'suffer'

OHMYGOSSIP — Keanu Reeves wanted to see John Wick ‘suffer’.
The 52-year-old actor stars as the hitman in the eponymously titled ‘John Wick’ and it’s recently released sequel ‘John Wick: Chapter 2’, and has said he enjoyed exploring a script in which John “literally had to fight for his life”, as it meant he could develop his character further.
He said: “We wanted to come to a place that John literally had to fight for his life, and that he’s starting to become a little anti-establishment. And that’s really where the character starts to develop. It’s like the rules and world that he lived by, aren’t starting to work for him, and they’re not working!
“There are people who are out to get him because of [his] transgressions. And we liked that idea because we like John – when I say ‘we’ I mean the producers, the writer, the director – we like to see him suffer!”
Keanu also divulged that writer Derek Kolstad and director Chad Stahelski wanted to end the new movie in a place that left John “vulnerable”.
He added to CinemaBlend.com: “We wanted to put him in another vulnerable… ‘How’s he going to get out?! How’s he going to survive?! What’s it mean?! What’s he going to do?!’ I don’t know! We have some ideas. Maybe he needs to go to Jerusalem! Or he’s in the middle of the desert. Or whatever!”
Meanwhile, Keanu recently revealed he would “love” to reprise his role for a third time if there was a demand for it from the audience.
Asked if he would do another ‘John Wick’ movie, Keanu said: “Absolutely. I love the character and the world. Whether or not I get the chance to do another chapter is really up to the audience.
“If they enjoy what we did – and hopefully they do, fingers-crossed, I really dig it – but if they do enjoy it, then I’ll have the chance to continue the story of the character and the world.”

Jimmy Vee cast as R2-D2 in Star Wars: The Last Jedi

OHMYGOSSIP — Jimmy Vee has been cast as R2-D2 for ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’.
The 57-year-old actor will replace the late Kenny Baker – who died in August last year aged 81 – as the iconic astromech droid for the upcoming instalment of the ‘Star Wars’ franchise, set to be released this December.
Jimmy is no stranger to the sci-fi film franchise, having actually appeared as the droid in ‘Star Wards: The Force Awakens’ in 2015, although he remained uncredited as Kenny was named as the actor behind the costume.
Speaking about his new role, Jimmy said in a statement: “It’s been an absolute pleasure to have worked alongside the legendary Kenny Baker. Kenny was a fantastic actor and taught me all the tricks on how he brought R2-D2 to life, which I will continue to portray in his honour.
“I’m so excited to be a part of the ‘Star Wars’ universe and can’t wait for everyone to see what we’ve been working so hard on for the last year.”
And it isn’t Jimmy’s first foray into the world of sci-fi and fantasy either, as the actor previously appeared in various episodes of UK television show ‘Doctor Who’ – where he played a number of characters including Moxx of Balhoon and Bannakaffalatta – and was uncredited in a role as an unnamed goblin in 2001’s ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’. He was also cast as Lofty in 2015’s ‘Pan’.
Jimmy – who, like Kenny, stands at 3ft 6in tall – will portray the famous droid when he’s walking on two feet, whilst all other shots are achieved using a special radio-controlled unit.
‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ will hit theatres on December 15, 2017.

Chris Chibnall's passion is in comedy

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Doctor Who’s new showrunner Chris Chibnall says passion lies in comedy.
The 46-year-old television writer – who will take over the popular BBC sci-fi show from current boss Steven Moffat once the upcoming series has aired – likes “variety” in his projects, and says despite being best known for thrilling drama series ‘Broadchurch’ and the mini-series ‘Gracepoint’, he’s “always” had a flare for being funny.
He said: “I always like to have things that are different from each other.
“I really like variety, that’s the amazing thing you can have as a writer – to have very, very different projects on the go. I always like o have something bubbling away inside my head which isn’t necessarily the main one at the front of my mind.
“I’ve become quite well known for writing ‘Broadchurch’ but in theatre I’ve always done comedies and it’s lovely to be able to flex those muscles. I like that.”
Chris also isn’t too worried about the pressure ‘Doctor Who’ will put on his work schedule, as he’s “already talking” about his next projects.
He explained to the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I expect ‘Doctor Who’ is going to take over my life to a certain degree but I’m already talking about the next play I’ll do.
“It might take a couple of years but I’ve already got an idea for my next play.”
Meanwhile, it was recently announced that Peter Capaldi, who currently stars as the titular regenerating Time Lord, would be stepping down from his role at the same time as 55-year-old Steven – leaving Chris with a clean slate.
Peter – who became the 12th actor to take on the role in 2013 – said: “I feel it’s time to move on. I feel sad, I love Doctor Who, it is a fantastic programme to work on.
“It can’t praise the people I work with more highly, but I have always been someone that did a lot of different things.”

Jennifer Ellison's throat closed up

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Ellison was rushed to hospital on Monday (13.02.17) after her throat closed up.
The ‘Sugar Free Farm’ star was forced to call an ambulance after she went into anaphylactic shock – a severe and potentially life-threatening reaction – after munching on peanuts.
Taking to her Facebook account, the blonde beauty uploaded a photograph of her arm strapped up to a drip and another shot of the horrific red rash over her legs.
She accompanied it with the caption: “‘Had one of the scariest nights ever! Had an annaphallacttic reaction to peanuts! Been eating them for 33 years! Anyway ended up calling an ambulance as my throat closed over and I literally could nt breath! (sic)”
The 33-year-old actress was dished out two adrenaline shots when the ambulance arrived to reverse the effects of her allergy by reducing throat swelling, opening the airways, and maintaining heart function and blood pressure, and spent the night in the trauma department.
Jennifer has been told she now has to carry an Epipen – a medical device for injecting a measured dose of adrenaline – when she’s out and about in public in case she accidentally comes into contact with nuts again and she suffers a similar anaphylactic shock.
She explained: “2 adrenaline shots later and a resus stay and it turns out I’m allergic to Nuts! Got to carry an epi pen everywhere with me! This is going to be fun! Thanks to all the amazing staff at Whiston hospital for being so fantastic and my mum for turning up so quickly and Rob Tickle for calming me down and staying with me x (sic)”

Pam Ferris 'passed out' on set of Harry Potter due to latex costume

OHMYGOSSIP — Pam Ferris has revealed her latex costume in ‘Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban’ caused her to pass out.
The British actress has had to dress up as a variety of characters for her varied film roles such as terrifying headmistress Miss Trunchbull in ‘Matilda’ but it was the skin-tight outfit she had to don to play Aunt Marge in the third instalment of the wizarding franchise when the character was blown up like a balloon in the 2004 film which was the most uncomfortable.
In an interview with the Metro newspaper, Ferris, 68, has revealed she struggled to breathe when shooting those scenes.
She said: “I had several suits of latex which they put compressed air between to expand me. It was absolute torture. And I passed out. It had never been done before, you see.
“We found that if we fired the air in, it stopped my lungs expanding so I couldn’t breathe, which is why I passed out. So we had to have a hard carapace underneath. I was so big I couldn’t get through doorways so I had to change in a tent.”
And being kept separately from the cast is something that she had to do on the set of 1996’s ‘Matilda’ – based on Roald Dahl’s novel of the same name – which starred Danny DeVito, who also directed.
She explained: “Danny tried to keep me away from the little ones in the cast because he wanted their real reactions, so they were all a bit wary of me. But their curiosity overcame them. I’d be there looking terrifying and I’d feel a little hand slip in mine. We became close friends.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger set for small role in Wonder Woman?

OHMYGOSSIP — Arnold Schwarzenegger will reportedly have a small role in ‘Wonder Woman’.
The 69-year-old ‘Terminator’ star has sent the rumour mill into overdrive after eagle-eyed fans spotted something which could link him to DC Comics upcoming ‘Wonder Woman’ film which is set to be released in June.
Although filming wrapped up last month, according to Batman News, Schwarzenegger is thought to have been lined up for a small voice role – possibly for a CGI version of the villain Ares.
The rumour started after fans observed Schwarzenegger was followed on Twitter recently by ‘Wonder Woman’ director Penny Jenkins and DC Entertainment President Geoff Johns.
Notably the interaction draws similarities to John Cleese’s social media, after the ‘Monty Python’ star followed Zack Snyder and Ben Affleck in late 2016 which sparked speculation that he would appear in ‘Justice League’ – something which was later proven.
If the Schwarzenegger rumours are true, it would see the actor and former Governor of California return to the DC universe for the first time since 1997 – when he last starred as supervillain Mr. Freeze in the derided ‘Batman & Robin’ movie which also starred George Clooney as The Caped Crusader and Chris O’Donnell as his sidekick Robin.
Gal Gadot reprises her role as the titular heroine in the film, while Chris Pine, Robin Wright and David Thewlis.

Top Gear will return on March 5

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Top Gear’ will return to screens in less than three weeks’ time.
BBC Two bosses have confirmed the popular motoring show will make its long-awaited return to the channel on March 5 with a new line-up featuring Matt LeBlanc, Chris Harris and Rory Reid following the shock departure of main host Chris Evans, 35, last year.
The news was announced on the series’ official Twitter account on Tuesday (14.02.17) alongside a photo of the presenting trio surrounded by flash fast cars and a helicopter.
The tweet read: “Confirmed: all new #TopGear launches Sunday 5 March. See you there (sic).”
Producers are hoping the new presenting line-up will give its rival ‘The Grand Tour’, which is hosted by ‘Top Gear’s former team Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, a run for its money after the Amazon series only managed to bring in 2.3 million UK viewers last year.
And Matt – who is known for his role in ‘Friends’ – Chris and Rory should have no trouble putting on a good show as they certainly have plenty on experience after they were brought on board the series last year in order to support Chris before he walked out over the fan backlash he received.
Patrick Holland, editor at BBC Two, told the Daily Star newspaper: “I am thrilled that Matt LeBlanc is returning to ‘Top Gear’. He’s a huge talent whose love of cars is infectious. I can’t wait for the series to return to BBC Two.”
And, in a subtle dig at Chris – who walked out just one year into his three-year contract – bosses have decided to wipe all traces of him by ditching the drastic changes he made last year.
The Star in a Rallycross Car segment, which the radio DJ introduced when he took over the hosting duties from Jeremy, James and Richard, has been scrapped, while his beloved Mini Cooper has been replaced with a Toyota GT86 for celebrities to whiz around in.
A source explained to The Sun newspaper: “The GT86 is brilliant to drive but also risky. This time the celebs will be taught by both Chris Harris and The Stig so they will be in safe hands.”

Prue Leith to replace Mary Berry on Great British Bake Off

OHMYGOSSIP — Prue Leith will reportedly replace Mary Berry as a judge on ‘The Great British Bake Off’.
The 76-year-old restaurateur has been chosen by Channel 4 bosses to join Paul Hollywood on the panel of the next series of the cooking show later this year after they lost the baking queen to the BBC when they snatched the rights to the series in a mega-money deal late last year.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “In cookery circles, she’s [Prue] practically royalty.”
Producers were keen to snap up Prue for the show because she carries similarities to 81-year-old Mary and they’re hoping her laid back personality will allow viewers to instantly warm to her.
A source explained: “Both are from similar backgrounds, so hopefully viewers will be accepting and give Prue a chance to win them over. Following in Mary’s footsteps is a big challenge. But the producers are confident that Prue has all the attributes.”
And she’s not the only new face to grace screens when the popular show, which first aired on BBC Two in 2010 and remained with the broadcaster for six years, shifts channels in a few months’ time as bosses are also looking for a replacement for previous hosts Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins.
An insider added: “The secret to ‘Bake Off’ is getting the right dynamic between the faces on screen.”
The ‘Great British Bake Off’ hit the headlines in September when it was announced that Love Productions – the makers of the series – had chosen to accept a three-year deal from Channel 4 after negotiations between them and the BBC broke down because they weren’t willing to offer a large enough sum.
Within hours of the news breaking, Mel and Sue – who have fronted the programme since it first hit screens six years ago – revealed they had quit their roles as hosts in order to explore other ventures.
A few days later, Mary decided she too would step down as a judge on the show out of “loyalty” to the BBC, while Paul, 50, caused a storm when he accepted Channel 4’s offer to remain with the series.
A Channel 4 spokeswoman said: “We’ll be announcing the line-up in due course.”

Bill Oddie almost killed himself shooting The Real Hotel of Marigold

OHMYGOSSIP — Bill Oddie almost killed himself on the set of ‘The Real Hotel of Marigold’.
The 75-year-old comedian feared for his life after he accidentally drank poison in the Indian coastal city of Kochi, where the show is set, after a waiter brought him a glass of turpentine to clean his paint brushes and he mistakenly thought it was drinking water.
He said: “I nearly killed myself after that painting thing. At the beginning of the evening one of the guys knocked on the door and put what I thought was a glass of water by my bed but it was turps and I was drinking it. It could have killed me.”
However, the TV bird watcher realised his error before it was too late and, despite feeling unwell, made a recovery in time to shoot the rest of the series, which is loosely based on the hit film ‘The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel’, much to the producers relief.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “It was pretty horrifying that he thought the turps was water but thankfully Bill realised in time.”
The show will return to screens tomorrow (15.02.17) as a new celebrity cast – Amanda Barrie, former snooker player Dennis Taylor and Paul Nicholas – head to Kerala.
And one person who Bill – who lives in north London with his wife of 34 years Lauren – developed a strong friendship with while working on the show in India was Dr Miriam Stoppard, 79, because they bonded over their lack of confidence.
Miriam said: “We became immediate friends. Bill and I were the two sceptics in the group so they’d be talking about refreshing the soul and all that kind of thing and our eyes would roll a bit because we come more of a scientific background.”

James Nesbitt admits hair transplant helped him get better roles

OHMYGOSSIP — James Nesbitt thinks having a hair transplant has boosted his career.
The ‘Cold Feet’ actor – who underwent several procedures to restore his hairline over a number of years – admitted having a full head of hair again has increased his chances of being handed sought-after roles.
He said: “It was something I struggled with. And that was probably the vanity in me.
“But also career-wise it had an impact; in terms of the range of leading roles I’ve had since then, it’s probably helped.”
James, 52, also revealed that, unlike some other big-name stars, he was determined to be open and honest about having had the transplant, rather than trying to pretend it never happened.
He told the Radio Times: “I was very happy to be open about it. I just thought, ‘Come on, somebody is going to say it before I say it’.”
Meanwhile, James also opened up about his recent split from wife Sonia Forbes-Adam after 22 years of marriage.
The actor, who has two grown-up children with his ex-wife, admitted he has some regrets about the way their relationship developed.
He said: “I certainly regret things, but I’m also aware that I can’t change them. You can try to learn from it. I regret any pain that was caused.
“I think separating has an impact because you look at why it happened and you see mistakes that were made.
“I’m lucky enough to be able to look back at stuff and say, ‘Oh well that was then, I’ve had a good lash at that, and this is now’.”

Neil Morrissey would return to 'Men Behaving Badly' for a 'good script'

OHMYGOSSIP — Neil Morrissey would return to ‘Men Behaving Badly’ if it was a “good script”.
The 54-year-old actor – who played Tony Smart in the popular British sitcom for six years – would be tempted to reprise his role if the show was to make a comeback, but only if there was a “good idea” behind the storyline.
Speaking to the Radio Times about the programme, he said: “If they came up with a good script and a good idea perhaps, because we’re old blokes now and we couldn’t be making the same mistakes.”
However, the ‘Waterloo Road’ star doesn’t think a revival series will “ever” be the same as it used to be.
He explained: “It can’t ever be what it was – we’re talking nearly 20 years ago.”
And Martin Clunes – who appeared alongside Neil in the comedy sketch as Gary Strang – is believed to share the same beliefs as his co-star.
Neil explained: “Martin Clunes is in pretty much the same boat as me.”
However, the ‘Doc Martin’ star thinks a ‘Men Behaving Badly’ return would be “unsavoury” following Operation Yewtree, which saw police investigate sexual abuse allegations made against Jimmy Savile.
Speaking previously, he said: “Men in their ’50s being like that … post-Yewtree, it’s a little bit unsavoury, isn’t it?”
But the 53-year-old actor admitted it was “really great” to reunite with his Neil for a special sketch of the show in aid of Channel 4’s Stand Up to Cancer in 2014.
He said: “It was really funny sitting on a sofa with a can of Stella next to Neil… it was like no time had passed at all.”
