Julie Hesmondhalgh reveals her post-Coronation Street ambition

OHMYGOSSIP — Julie Hesmondhalgh hopes to be remembered for more than her role in ‘Coronation Street’.
The 47-year-old actress – who starred as Hayley Cropper in the ITV soap before leaving in 2014 – has recently appeared in ‘Cucumber and ‘Broadchurch’, and Julie is determined to make a success of her post-‘Coronation Street’ career.
She said: “There’s always a list of people that I would eventually like to join when they say, ‘Oh, how will it be for them when they leave [Coronation Street]? It’s only a handful that have done well…’ They always say, ‘Suranne [Jones], Sarah [Lancashire] and Katherine [Kelly].’ Maybe one day they’ll add me on to this list.”
Despite her lofty ambitions, Julie admitted her career success has still exceeded her own expectations.
The actress told The Radio Times: “I never expected I’d be here in a million years. I was happy just to do regional theatre, a little bit of telly here and there – I just wanted variety and scope – but I couldn’t have imagined this.”
In fact, Julie – who plays a sexual assault victim in ‘Broadchurch’ – revealed she has been a little intimated by some of the company she’s been mixing in recently.
Julie shared: “The first day [on ‘Broadchurch’] I was a little bit overwhelmed by it. We did a photoshoot the other day and it was like being in Madame Tussaud’s! I was like, ‘What the hell am I doing here?’
“I had breakfast with Lenny Henry this morning. It’s like I’m living in a parallel universe where my daughter is off to secondary school and I’m FaceTiming her and then I’m like, ‘So how are things, Lenny?’ It’s just kind of weird – but I think that would be weird for anybody.”

Chris McKay hasn't got a contract for Nightwing solo movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris McKay says “anything can happen” in regards to the solo ‘Nightwing’ movie.
The ‘Lego Batman Movie’ director has spoke briefly about his plans on getting DC Comics’ superhero Robin Dick Grayson his very own standalone movie, but he admits he is yet to write up a contract for the film.
He told website monkeysfightingrobots.com: “There’s not much I can talk about the movie. I don’t even have a contract. Anything can happen.”
McKay said he is keen for the ‘Nightwing’ movie because he sees similarities in Bruce Wayne and Grayson and how despite being faced with so many “negatives” they still remain.
He told the Shanlian Batman podcast: “They’re people who live hand-to-mouth and that’s something that informs him and his attitude.
“He’s a fascinating guy to me because he had all the same things happen to him. He’s got some of the same negatives as Bruce Wayne and then from a society standpoint – obviously he was adopted into Bruce Wayne’s life – but he didn’t start that way. He’s this guy who has all these negatives and then even more negatives and yet he remains. Those are things why I like Dick Grayson, why I like the idea of ‘Nightwing’ as a movie.”
Warner Bros. Pictures is keen to expand the Bat Family’s presence in the DC Extended Universe.
The script for the project is reportedly being written by ‘The Accountant’s Bill Dubuque and it will be the first time Grayson will be seen in the DCEU as a lead character.
McKay’s animated ‘Lego Batman Movie’ has been universally praised and Warner Bros. are keen for him to bring his humour and understanding of the Batman characters to ‘Nightwing’.
The comic book history of Grayson mirrors the tragedy of Bruce Wayne’s as he was the youngest member of a family of acrobats, known as The Flying Graysons, His parents were murdered and Bruce then takes him under his wing and he eventually becomes his alter ego Batman’s sidekick.

R rating 'key to success of Logan movie'

OHMYGOSSIP — James Mangold believes the R rating afforded to ‘Logan’ has been key to the movie’s success.
The 53-year-old director – who previously helmed the much-maligned ‘Wolverine’ in 2013 – has revealed that he and Hollywood star Hugh Jackman pushed to create a more adult movie so it would avoid the conventions of a typical superhero film.
He explained: “I knew that if Hugh and I could get an R, then we’ll have the freedom to make an adult film.
“Because the second the marketing arm of a studio realises it cannot market to children, five or six creative things happen. The scenes can go deeper, and can be written for adults. Not just language, not just [violence], as you’re saying, but the themes can be more interesting, the words you’re using can be more complicated. The ideas can be more complicated.”
He said, too, that the movie’s R rating means there is less pressure to fill ‘Logan’ with the sort of gimmicks that can create merchandising revenue.
James told Den of Geek: “Also, the film comes under no pressure to be a platform for the sale of toys. Because there’s going to be no kids to see it.”
Meanwhile, Hugh – who has now played the iconic character for the final time – previously said ‘Logan’ has more depth to it than previous Wolverine movies.
He shared: “I love Wolverine. I will not miss it, for it will always be inside me.
“It was very emotional to make this movie. I always felt that there was a deeper story about this character.
“I’m very proud of the movies of the past, but I felt I had something more. Like a man. He did not want to be just the tough Wolverine, but the difficult Logan.
“I cried a few times on the set. I hope fans will say: finally, this is the Wolverine movie I wanted to see.”

La La Land success overshadowed by confusion

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘La La Land’ scooped six prizes at the Academy Awards – and was mistakenly named Best Picture.
The Hollywood musical – which had been nominated for 14 awards – took home prizes including Best Director for Damien Chazelle and Best Actress for Emma Stone, and though it was announced by Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway as having won the evening’s biggest honour, the team were interrupted as they took to the stage at Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre and told there had been a mistake.
They were told: “I’m sorry, no, there’s a mistake. This is not a joke, ‘Moonlight’ has won Best Picture. This is not a joke. Moonlight has won Best Picture.”
Warren then said: “This is not a joke, I’m afraid I read the wrong thing.”
Host Jimmy Kimmel then took to the stage and said: “This is very unfortunate what happened. I would like to see you get an Oscar anyway, why can’t we just give out a whole bunch?”
Warren – who was presenting the award with Faye Dunaway – had taken some time to read out the winner and explained he had been given the wrong envelope.
He said: “I opened the envelope and it said Emma Stone, ‘La La Land’ – that’s why I took such a long look at you and Faye.
“I wasn’t trying to be funny.”
But the film did win prizes for cinematography and production design, Best Original Song for ‘City of Stars’ and Best Original Score.
As Emma picked up her award, she paid tribute to her fellow nominees Meryl Streep, Ruth Negga, Isabelle Huppert and Natalie Portman in her speech.
She said: “To the women in this category – you were all so extraordinary and I look up to you and admire you.
“It has been the greatest honour to stand alongside you..”
She also thanked director Damien and Ryan for the “crazy adventure” of making the movie.
She added: “I realise a moment like this is a huge confluence of luck and opportunity so I want to thank Damien Chazelle to be given the opportunity. Ryan Gosling, thank you for making me laugh and always raising the bar and being the best partner on this crazy adventure.
“To all the people that worked on this movie, I’m going to find you all individually and I’m going to thank you. I’m going to hug the hell out of you when the feeling re-enters my body. I still have a lot of growing and learning to do, and this guy (the Oscar statue) is a really beautiful symbol of continuing to do that.”
Damien, 32, is the youngest person to ever win Best Director and said he was “floored and honoured” to be nominated.
He also paid tribute to his partner Olivia Hamilton.
He said: “This was a movie about love, and I was lucky enough to fall in love while making it.”

Jennifer Metcalfe pregnant

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Metcalfe is reportedly pregnant.
The ‘Hollyoaks’ actress and her partner, former ‘Geordie Shore’ star Greg Lake – who she has been dating for four years – are said to be thrilled to be welcoming their first child into the world later this year.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Jen and Greg are delighted. They have told their friends and family, who are chuffed too.”
The happy news comes after one of Jennifer’s most recent major ‘Hollyoaks’ storylines was the tragic stillbirth of her character Mercedes McQueen’s baby son Gabriel.
The source added: “Obviously after her difficult time filming her last pregnancy scenes on ‘Hollyoaks’ this is a breath of fresh air for Jen.
“It’s going to be an exciting rest of the year for her.”
The brunette beauty previously admitted the hard-hitting plot was “really hard” to film and she couldn’t help but break down when she received her scripts for the first time.
Asked about the challenges of playing Mercedes, Jennifer recalled the stillbirth and the writer who penned the story from firsthand experience and said: “The writer had been through a similar experience herself. I read all the five episodes together on my couch. I hadn’t cried in two years, cut to two hours later I’m just this blubbering mess and I have this lump in my throat. It was so touching and so real.
“We worked together with lots of amazing charities that brought some realism to the story. It was really difficult to film and really challenging, but also so rewarding.”

Jade Jones eliminated from The Jump

OHMYGOSSIP — Jade Jones has been eliminated from ‘The Jump’.
The Olympic medallist is the latest star to depart the winter sports competition after failing to match the final jumps registered by Spencer Matthews – whose contingency score had to be used after he suffered a shoulder injury – and Kadeena Cox, but she was just relieved to have survived the show without an injury.
She tweeted: “Sad to be leaving, but thanks so much for everyone who has supported me through the weeks ! But most importantly I’m leaving in 1 piece (sic)”
And Jade already has her eye on competing on another reality show as she’d like to be considered for tough jungle endurance contest ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’.
She said: “I’d love to do ‘I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!’ I’m quite competitive so I could handle eating the bugs.”
Meanwhile, Sir Bradley Wiggins was “gutted” to have to quit the competition after injuring his ankle in the ski cross.
He said: “I’ve suffered a fracture on my ankle, and been told to rest it, which means I’m out of the competition.
“I’m gutted, really gutted.
“I’ve had the time of my life. It’s been great meeting people from all walks of life.
“I’ve been cycling for so many years and surrounded by cyclists, so it’s nice to meet different people.”
And Caprice Bourret was forced to miss this week’s action after falling ill, but will return to the show next week.

Martin Kemp opens up about drugs bender at height of fame

OHMYGOSSIP — Martin Kemp says an eight-hour drugs bender at the height of his Spandau Ballet fame was “one of the best nights of my life”.
The ‘Let It Shine’ judge lived a “rock n’ roll” lifestyle during his time in the band and opened up about one particular party where he took Mescaline, an LSD-style drug, with his friend Steve Strange.
He told the Daily Star Sunday: “We get there and it is this massive white house and the first thing I see to my right is this room and in it, completely black with no lights on, was about 50 or 60 people all around the walls of this room going ‘buzz, buzz’.
“I looked at it thinking, ‘what the f**k is going on in there?’ Twenty minutes later I am there going ‘buzz, buzz’. Everybody in this party had taken the drug called Mescaline. Now I am not telling you to try it, I am just saying this is what happens.”
Despite waking up covered in blood, Martin called it one of the best nights of his life.
He added: “When I got home, I was lying in bed and I started picking my nose, like you do, and all of a sudden I felt as if I was one of the seven dwarfs and up my nostrils was, like, gold. And I was picking it off from the side of the cave.
“I woke up in the morning and there was blood everywhere – but it was one of the best nights I have ever had.”
Meanwhile, Martin, 55, also revealed he suffers from tinnitus – a relentless ringing sound in his head – and high-frequency hearing loss, due to his time in the band.
He told the Mail On Sunday: “There is a whistling in my ears all the time.
“During the day I don’t notice it, but as soon as it goes quiet, or I’m in bed, I can hear it. It drives me a bit crazy sometimes.
“I went to have a test because of the tinnitus and was taken aback when the audiologist said that I have hearing loss.
“But it’s not surprising considering I’ve been in the music industry since I was 17.”

Alex Mytton was in 'love triangle'

OHMYGOSSIP — Alex Mytton was involved in a “love triangle” with Lottie Moss and her flatmate.
The ‘Made in Chelsea’ star has been dating the 19-year-old model since October, and although things are going well between them, they didn’t initially hit it off and eventually found themselves in a potentially messy situation.
He said: “We didn’t immediately hit it off and I nearly hooked up with her flatmate but then ended up getting with Lottie. For a while there was kind of a love triangle and there could have been trouble but it all settled down.”
While things are going well for the couple, they have no plans to live together just yet, though Alex admits he likes having his girlfriend “look after” him.
He explained: “It’s still early days, although we’re really into one another.
“She’s young too. She’s seven years younger than me but it’s weird because she is more mature than I am. I like to go and get hammered and I behave like a child so she has to look after me sometimes.”
And the 26-year-old reality star is a long way off wanting to start a family.
He told Closer magazine: “I think Lottie is amazing but she’s only 19 and I have no desire to have a baby. I’m not ready for the responsibility. I think 30-plus would be a good time. I can’t even iron my own shirts, so I’m definitely not ready for a child.”
But Alex is thrilled for his ex-girlfriend, Binky Felstead, who is expecting her first child with Josh ‘JP’ Patterson.
He said: “I have said a massive congratulations to her. We remain really good friends.
“She’s the first one out of our friendship group to have a kid, so it’s a big thing. But she’ll be the perfect mum.”

Rhod Gilbert's suspected mini-stroke

OHMYGOSSIP — Rhod Gilbert recently suffered a suspected “mini-stroke”.
The ‘Never Mind The Buzzcocks’ host revealed he was in the bathroom at his home in London when his left arm started involuntarily shaking as if it was waving at someone.
He told Wales Online: “About 30 seconds it went on for, and I can vouch 100 per cent for the fact there was absolutely no-one else there in the loo with me.”
Rhod, 48, was immediately referred to a nearby stroke clinic but is confident that it was “nothing serious”.
He said: “I’m still waiting for the result of heart tests they gave me though, but I’m pretty sure it’ll turn out to be nothing serious.”
It has been a tough year for Rhod, whose father Malcolm, 84, suffered a heart attack just before the star was due to start filming on a building site for his ‘Work Experience’ TV series.
He said: “I was out on a Redrow site not far from the Royal Gwent Hospital when I got the call about Dad.
“He ended up on a ward at Morriston Hospital next to the father of an old school friend of mine who’d also had a heart attack, bizarrely enough.
“So that was a tough shoot, three days laying bricks with that image of him laid up in the back of my mind the whole time.
“Luckily I was able to pop back and forth to see him, the rest of the family rallying round to make sure he was okay during the times I couldn’t be there.
“He’s doing great now, no doubt due to the excellent treatment he got from all the nurses and doctors who looked after him – a big thank you to them.”

Ryan Gosling's Oscars warning for Kimmel

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Gosling has warned Jimmy Kimmel not to “f**k up” the Academy Awards.
Ryan is nominated for Best Actor for ‘La La Land’ at the ceremony, which Jimmy is hosting on Sunday (26.02.17) and he quipped that the star needs to make sure he doesn’t ruin everything.
Ryan, 36, said: “He’s a friend and I’m a fan and I think he’s going to do a wonderful job. I guess my advice would be, don’t f**k it up.”
And Matt Damon wants Jimmy to live up to his “extremely low expectations” at the Oscars.
The 46-year-old actor continued his ongoing fictitious feud with the ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ star and quipped he doesn’t even need to hope that the 49-year-old American star’s gig as the host of this year’s Academy Awards, will be a failure.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “Well, evidently, what he said so far was that he doesn’t care at all who wins as long as I lose. I tried to get on his [post-]Oscar show last year. I mean, I was nominated; he still didn’t let me on. Somebody asked me, ‘Do I want him to do bad?’ and the reality is I don’t even have to hope for that. I just want him to live up to my extremely low expectations.”
Matt is a producer of Best Picture nominee ‘Manchester by the Sea’.
However, Best Actress nominee Octavia Spencer is sure that he will be great.
The ‘Hidden Figures’ actress said: “Oh my God, Jimmy Kimmel is one of the funniest people on the planet. He just needs to do what he does, and relax and enjoy the night.”

Linda Lusardi's daughter eliminated from The Voice

OHMYGOSSIP — Linda Lusardi’s daughter has been eliminated from ‘The Voice’.
Lucy Kane, 20, was booted off Sir Tom Jones’ team during the battle rounds on the BBC One show on Saturday (25.02.17) after losing out to Nadine McGhee and none of the other judges chose to steal her.
After her elimination, Lucy was comforted by her mother, who is a former glamour model.
Linda later tweeted: “So very proud of my Lucy Kane tonight on thevoiceuk.
“She did her very best and I love her with all my heart (sic).”
And Lucy added: “What an amazing experience I had.
“Thank you so much to everyone #thevoiceuk I truly had such a wonderful time. So excited for the future x (sic).”
Lucy did not bring her mother or father, former ‘Brookside’ actor Samuel Kane, to her first audition because she did not want their fame to overshadow her audition.
She previously explained: “I didn’t want my parents brought into it. I didn’t bring my mum and dad with me. I wanted it to be about me.
“I didn’t want to only be Linda Lusardi’s daughter if I didn’t get through.”
Since quitting her job as a model, Linda decided a few years back to take up photography and now has her own studio in her home in Hertfordshire.
She said last year: “All the time I was doing photoshoots, I was learning about it, but I was put off by the darkrooms. Then digital came along and everyone seemed to become a photographer. I know what it’s like on both sides of the camera and how to make people relax into it if they’re nervous.
“Even when I was a model, the photographers liked working with me because I could help other girls. Lighting is the most important element. It doesn’t matter who you’re photographing, if you haven’t got decent lighting it’s going to be a problem.”

Brie Larson 'lucked out' with Kong: Skull Island

OHMYGOSSIP — Brie Larson “lucked out” with ‘Kong: Skull Island’.
The Oscar-winning actress – who plays photojournalist and peace activist Mason Weaver – couldn’t have asked for a better experience for her first time working with CGI technology and insisted it is just as easy to “connect” with nature as it is a co-star.
She said: “I really lucked out with this being my first movie that relied on CGI. Apart from the fact that Kong obviously wasn’t there, I had everything there to work off.
“My character is coming from this place of deep compassion for nature and untouched land, and we were shooting in places that were untouched and hadn’t been seen on screen before. I got to really connect with it.
“I don’t know, maybe I’m a crazy person but I can connect just as deeply with the beauty of a tree as I can with a child. I’m a wacko!”
The 27-year-old actress and her co-stars – including Tom Hiddleston, John C. Reilly and John Goodman – relied a lot on music to help “orchestrate” the right “vibe” during the CGI scenes.
She explained to Total Film magazine: “I always play off people’s eyes. I really connect with my acting partner.
“When their pupils are dilating, you get this front-row seat into their soul. So when you don’t have that to work off, you have these conversations like, ‘What is his mood? Does he look like he’s gonna charge?’ And then you play it through in your imagination.
“We used music a lot on set. With some of the bigger scenes, we would bring out speakers and they would just play Rolling Stones or whatever the vibe was. You’re trying to get a bunch of people to all react to the same invisible thing at the same time and music became a great way to orchestrate that.”

Allison Williams' 'provocative' movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Allison Williams wanted her first post-‘Girls’ role to be “daring, provocative and thought-provoking and conversation-starting”.
The 28-year-old actress stars in Jordan Peele’s horror movie ‘Get Out’ and she calls the movie, which also explores modern-day racial tensions a “total gift”.
She told The Hollywood Reporter: “I got the script from my agent with an accompanying phone call that was like, ‘Jordan really wants you to read this and call him when you’ve finished it.’ First of all, I had to get over the fact that Jordan Peele knew who I was and then that he wanted me to read something, which is completely surreal. So I read it, and I was immediately like, ‘Oh, I need to do this. This is exactly what I’ve been waiting for without even knowing it.’ Because I’d never done a movie in all of the years of ‘Girls’. I was waiting for something different enough, daring, provocative and thought-provoking and conversation-starting, and this was like a total gift. The fact that he was going to entrust me with a very complicated role, the fact that he thought I was capable of playing Rose was like a real vote of confidence.”
However, Allison admitted that working on a movie was hugely different to her HBO TV show ‘Girls’.
She said: “The biggest difference is that you only have like 15 minutes to introduce an audience to a character, and I’ve been really spoiled – I’ve basically had six years to get people used to Marnie. So when you have 15 minutes before the action kicks off, you yourself as the person performing it have to have a very clear idea of who you’re playing because if that clarity isn’t there, it will show immediately in that the audience will be like, ‘I don’t know why but I can’t seem to pin down: Who is this person?’ So that was really interesting and really tricky, and I spent a lot of time before shooting preparing for that and I’m really glad I did because it gave me the opportunity to be just focused on how to introduce my character Rose in a way that could be efficient so that the story could start and we’d already feel like we’d known her for a really long time.”

Sherrie Hewson mistook Madness for tribute band

OHMYGOSSIP — Sherrie Hewson mistook Madness for a tribute band when they filmed a guest slot on ‘Benidorm’.
The 66-year-old actress – who plays Solana Hotel manager Joyce Temple-Savage on the sitcom – is used to welcoming musical guests who impersonate more famous acts onto the show, but was stunned to learn the ‘House of Fun’ hitmakers really were making an appearance.
She said: “In ‘Benidorm’, every band is a tribute, so I assumed it was another tribute band and then Derren [Litten, creator and writer] said, ‘No that’s Suggs.’ And I went, ‘What the real one?’ I couldn’t believe it, it’s fantastic isn’t it?”
Lesley Joseph has previously said she’d love a ‘Birds of a Feather’ and ‘Benidorm’ collaborative episode, an idea backed by her co-star Linda Robson, and Sherrie also thinks it would make for great TV.
She said: “It would be brilliant. They’d be the perfect guests to have at the hotel.
“I’m always with Lina and she’s always saying, ‘Wouldn’t that be funny? They could come for a girly holiday.”
But that isn’t the only crossover that Sherrie would like to see with her show.
She added to Closer magazine: “Another person who always wants to come on the show is Brendan O’Carroll from ‘Mrs. Brown’s Boys’. He said to me, ‘Couldn’t we just all come into the hotel and check in as a family.? Even if you take no notice of us and we’re just in the background… It’s lovely so many people want to be on ‘Benidorm’.”

Hugh Jackman's pay sacrifice

OHMYGOSSIP — Hugh Jackman took a pay cut so ‘Logan’ could be R-rated.
The Australian actor and director James Mangold felt it was important to make the final Wolverine film smaller and more personal than the previous outings of the Marvel Mutant but bosses at 20th Century Fox took a lot of persuasion to be convinced that going for a more intense and adult feel was the right approach.
James said: “Did anyone need convincing? The studio did. I think they warmed to the idea but were not over the moon.
“Then we offered to make the movie for less – Hugh took a pay cut.”
But it was the success of Ryan Reynolds’ ‘Deadpool’ which convinced studio bosses that they were right to make ‘Logan’ more gritty.
James added: “In the middle of all that, ‘Deadpool’ opened. And on top of that, in the last couple of years, there were big-budget, PG and PG-13 superhero films that were relative box office disappointments.
“So there was a combination of factors to justify the R-rating, the feeling that maybe peple were getting exhausted with the way they’d been getting made, the feeling there was in ‘Deadpool’ an avenue of success, and the fact we were willing to make this movie for less than those movies usually cost.”
And James thinks the R-rating made the project more focused instead of trying too hard to please everyone and failing to leave anyone satisfied.
He explained to Total Film magazine: “When you’re making a tentpole film, there is an expectation, like a buffet, that there will be something for everybody.
“The problem is, that does not make a good meal. Usually, the best meal is when someone takes a position, decides on a menu and serves something that will leave some people unhappy but will hopefully make many people happy.
“I feel like if you make something cute for kids, something violent for adults or young men and something heart-warming for others, it makes the movie feel schizophrenic.”

Five To Five win Let It Shine

OHMYGOSSIP — Five To Five have won ‘Let It Shine’.
The quintet – AJ Bentley, Sario Solomon, Curtis T Johns, Nick Carsberg and Yazdan Qafouri -beat off strong competition from the other finalists to emerge as the winners on Saturday’s (25.02.17) final of the BBC One show.
Five to Five will now go on to play a fictional boyband in Gary Barlow’s West End musical, ‘The Band’, based on the music of Take That.
And Robbie Williams reunited with his Take That bandmates Gary, Mark Owen and Howard Donald to perform ‘The Flood’ on Saturday’s final.
However, Robbie pulled out of a planned guest judge role due to an “ailment” and was replaced by Peter Kay.
A message on the BBC One Twitter account stated: “Peter Kay to step in for Robbie as guest judge on tomorrow’s #LetItShine. Robbie will still perform with Take That!”
And a message on the BBC website said: “As previously announced, Robbie Williams will reunite with Take That for a special performance for the Let It Shine live final. Sadly, due to an ailment he is unable to continue with the role of guest judge and we wish Robbie a very speedy recovery.
“However, we are thrilled to announce that Peter Kay will join as guest judge and sit on the panel alongside Gary Barlow, Danni Minogue and Martin Kemp for the live final.”
Meanwhile, Gary has insisted that his latest musical will be a huge success.
He said previously: “It will be a hit. I’ve done two musicals now. The story is the key, not the music. You’ve got to have a good story to make it work.”
‘The Band’ is due to open in the West End in September 2017.
