Stephanie Davis wants more kids with Jeremy McConnell

OHMYGOSSIP — Stephanie Davis wants to have more children with Jeremy McConnell.
The 23-year-old actress has only just managed to get her romance with the heavily-inked heartthrob back up and running following the birth of their son Caben-Albi seven weeks ago but it seems she’s already thinking about expanding her brood with him.
She explained: “Obviously, I want my kids to have the same dad. That’s ideally want anyone wants. No one wants kids in a broken home. I’d want the same family.”
And, although the brunette beauty is keen to make her relationship with the 27-year-old hunk work, Stephanie is adamant that she and Jeremy will sit their son down when he’s a little older and make sure he knows that he was created out of “love.”
Speaking to Now magazine, she explained: “We’ve spoken about this. Caben’s mum and dad loved each other when they first got together. It wasn’t like Jeremy and I had a normal relationship. It didn’t work out and broke down. We were thrown into the media circus and we’ve never known such a frenzy. Jez got fame he was never used to and it ran away with him. We made mistakes. But Caben will know hat his parents loved each other and he was made out of love. We want to be the best parents we can be.”
The couple may be the the picture of perfect love right now but they haven’t always been on good terms and have been publicly warring for the past nine months.
The pair dated last year after they met in the ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ house while competing in the January series, but they split in May following a series of rows.
Stephanie then found out she was pregnant but the Irish reality TV star refused to believe he was the father of the then-unborn tot and branded her an attention seeker.
Once the baby was born, Jeremy requested a paternity test and was relieved to find out four weeks ago that Caben does in fact belong to him.

Anna Faris and Eugenio Derbez to star in remake of Overboard

OHMYGOSSIP — Anna Faris and Eugenio Derbez are confirmed to star in the remake of ‘Overboard’.
The original 1987 American romantic comedy film starred Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell and was directed by Garry Marshall and is about a wealthy woman who hires a carpenter to work on her yacht but after they have dispute over his work she pushes him into the sea before falling overboard herself with hilarious and romantic consequences.
The remake, however, will feature a reversal of the leading roles with the story focusing on a spoiled playboy, portrayed by Derbez, who is from one of Mexico’s wealthiest families who falls overboard, forgets his memory and is convinced by single, working mother Faris that he is her husband.
MGM Motion Picture Group President Jonathan Glickman said: “The original ‘Overboard’ was beloved and the only way to bring it back is to reinvent the story in a whole new way. Anna and Eugenio are two of the most charismatic forces in comedy whose take on the material will modernise the story for a whole new generation of moviegoers.”
The remake will be co-directed and written by How I Met Your Mother’s Rob Greenberg and We’re the Millers’ Bob Fisher. Whilst Ben Odell and Derbez are producing through 3Pas Studios.
MGM has partnered with Pantelion Films to co-produce, co-finance, and co-distribute the film, with Lionsgate handling domestic theatrical distribution.
Production is expected to start in May in Vancouver.
Faris is currently starring opposite Allison Janney in the fourth season of CBS sitcom ‘Mom’. She launched the comedy advice podcast ‘Anna Faris Is Unqualified’ in 2015 and is set to publish her comedic memoir ‘Unqualified’ this fall.
Meanwhile, Derbez is known to Latin American audiences for his long-running television series ‘La Familia P. Luche.’ He also starred in, directed, and produced the comedy ‘Instructions Not Included’ which grossed $100 million worldwide.

Priyanka Chopra laughed a lot on Baywatch set

OHMYGOSSIP — Priyanka Chopra was laughing all the time when she filmed the upcoming ‘Baywatch’ movie.
The 34-year-old Bollywood-turned-Hollywood babe portrays baddie Victoria Leeds in the movie inspired by the TV series of the same name.
Priyanka stars in the action-comedy along with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson as Mitch Buchannon, Zac Efron as Matt Brody, Alexandra Daddario as Summer Quinn and Kelly Rohrbach as C.J. Parker and she admits every day shooting on the beach was full of laughs.
In an interview with the Metro newspaper, she said: “It’s going to be a great beginning for the summer. It’s a really funny movie – I was laughing all the time while I filmed it. Dwayne Johnson is such a gentleman and one of the nicest people I’ve met. He’s so hard working – Zac Efron is too.”
The film follows devoted lifeguard Mitch who clashes with Matt, a disgraced former Olympian turned lifeguard who is drafted into the lifeguard team as a PR stunt.
Although the pair clash at first they must put their differences aside to foil a criminal plot that threatens the future of the Bay.
Priyanka says all the cast get on great and plane to stay in touch now shooting has wrapped on the movie – which has been directed by Seth Gordon and also features cameos from original ‘Baywatch’ stars Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff.
She said: “It was a lot of hours in the sun and water, and wonderful to see such a professional bunch of people have a great time. I’ll stay in touch with all of them.”
Priyanka’s next role is starring in American drama TV series ‘Quantico’ alongside new CIA recruit Russell Tovey.

Prue Leith slams cookery shows

OHMYGOSSIP — Prue Leith is “not interested” in “cheap” cookery shows.
The 76-year-old restaurateur has made no secret of the fact she’d love nothing more than to bag the judging role on ‘Great British Bake Off’ following her rival Mary Berry’s shock departure last year, but it looks like her chances of securing the job have been slashed after she slammed the format of those type of programmes in 2012.
She told the Daily Express newspaper at the time: “Of course there are [too many cookery shows on television. I only watch them very occasionally and I’m frankly not interested in them. Cookery shows are like wallpaper on TV. They are very cheap to produce so everybody does them.”
Prue – who has appeared as a judge on ‘Great British Menu’ since 2006 – has reportedly inked a six-figure deal to work alongside Paul Hollywood on the revamped version of ‘GBBO’ when it returns to screens on Channel 4 later this year.
A source said: “The deal has taken its time to iron out the details, but it has now been signed and Prue is going to be on the show. We think her and Paul will be another winning combination. Prue is excited about the show and can’t wait to get started.”
And she’s not the only new face to grace screens when the popular show, which first aired on BBC Two in 2010 and remained with the broadcaster for six years, shifts channels in a few months’ time as bosses are also looking for a replacement for previous hosts Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins – but it’s proving a difficult task.
The ‘Great British Bake Off’ hit the headlines in September when it was announced that Love Productions – the makers of the series – had chosen to accept a three-year deal from Channel 4 after negotiations between them and the BBC broke down because they weren’t willing to offer a large enough sum.
Within hours of the news breaking, Mel and Sue – who have fronted the programme since it first hit screens six years ago – revealed they had quit their roles as hosts in order to explore other ventures.
A few days later, Mary decided she too would step down as a judge on the show out of “loyalty” to the BBC, while Paul, 50, caused a storm when he accepted Channel 4’s offer to remain with the series.

Call the Midwife uses '60 to 70' newborns per series

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Call the Midwife’ bosses need to hire between “60 and 70” newborn babies per series.
The period drama, which is centred around a group of midwives working in the poverty-stricken East End of London during the 1950s, sees tiny tots born every episode and that means producer Ann Tricklebank is tasked with the challenge of finding enough little ones to ensure they can shoot all the labour scenes they need to within a small window of time.
Ann told Radio Times magazine: “We use between 60 and 70 a series. And upwards of 200 small children. That;s a lot but we don;t think we’ll run out. The parents love it because they have a little scene with their baby that they can keep forever. It’s special.”
However, she’s adamant they won’t ever run out of babies to use as she’s constantly receiving letters from soon-to-be parents begging her to use their baby on screen.
Ann explained: “Lots of eager parents contact us and say: ‘We are having a baby, would you like it on the show?’ But the reality is that we need our newborns at a very specific time due to the filming schedule, and so we get most of our babies through a specialist talent agency. We use babies up to about eight weeks old and sometimes we have special demands, for example with regard to ethnicity. Or perhaps if we’re covering a premature birth, we will need a tiny baby. We can’t use babies people who write in because the baby has to tie in to the shooting schedule, not the other way round. Although, of course, once the baby is on set, we have to comply with regulations about working time.”
However, the filming of scenes is a long-winded process and often the cast will spend hours rehearsing with a fake baby to ensure the real-life little ones aren’t on set for ages.
She explained: “One baby being born on screen will take at least give hours to shoot, and very often the actor playing the mother will never have had a baby herself. So first of all we all have to rehearse what the experience is like … We rehearse the birth with what we call a ‘jelly baby’, which is essentially a silicone model that feels and looks just like a real baby. But when the time comes to shoot, we use a real baby. We pass it under the actor’s thigh and she brings it up, holding the baby and its umbilical cord, which is made of silicone and then she holds it against its tummy.”

Dancing on Ice could make shock TV return

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Dancing on Ice’ is reportedly set to make a shock return to TV.
The ITV programme – which saw celebrities learn to figure skate – was once among the most-watched shows in the UK and it is rumoured to be on channel boss Kevin Lygo’s hitlist for the year.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Kevin always thought ITV axing ‘Dancing on Ice’ was a mistake so now the idea of bringing it back is being looked at.
“It was a smash hit, and even at its worst was still pulling in more than some of the shows currently on telly – particularly in the Sunday night slot.
“It’s very early days and nothing has been commissioned just yet but it’s definitely on the to-do list. A Sunday night slot would make a lot of sense.”
At the peak of its popularity, ‘Dancing on Ice’ – which was originally hosted by Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby – attracted 13 million viewers.
But its audience dwindled over time and it was scrapped altogether in 2014.
However, Kevin – who was appointed as ITV’s Director of Television earlier this year – claimed in 2016 that the broadcaster had made a mistaken in taking the programme off the air.
He previously said: “I think when ‘Dancing On Ice’ was cut, it was felt, ‘oh we need to refresh, it’s gone down a bit in the ratings’.
“I watched it, it was the most lovely family show and a really good feeling and distinctive and brilliantly produced, and actually I wish it had gone on a bit longer.”
‘Dancing on Ice’ could reportedly replace ‘Dance Dance Dance’, which is presented by Alesha Dixon.

will.i.am hopes Tom Jones will join him for The Voice next season

OHMYGOSSIP — will.i.am would be “hurt” if Sir Tom Jones wasn’t on the next series of ‘The Voice’.
The Black Eyed Peas star has confirmed himself for the next instalment of the ITV spinning-chair talent show, and hopes the 76-year-old silver fox joins him.
Asked if he’d be upset if he wasn’t alongside him on the panel following rumours that the 76-year-old silver fox is planning to quit the show, he said: “That would hurt, yeah. I really like Tom.”
The 41-year-old producer likes how the ‘Not Unusual’ hitmaker “centres” himself and his fellow coaches, Jennifer Hudson and Gavin Rossdale, and doesn’t allow any bad behaviour.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I like how Tom centres everyone. He brings people to behave and we don’t have that nowadays. People just want to run amok. There is no chivalry or appreciation for being polite and I like Tom’s generation.
“I want to be like Tom when I get to his age. He is a gentleman. He really appreciates and loves music.”
The ‘I Gotta Feeling’ hitmaker also admits that he would have struggled moving to ITV from the BBC without Tom.
He spilled: “Having Tom back is awesome. It’s true I didn’t want to come back if he wasn’t there.
“Coming to a new network, I don’t think I could have done it. If the panel is whack then the show is going to suffer.”
The music legend has been vocal about his enthusiasm for the show, but he is believed to have told friends that he won’t be back next season.
A source said recently: “Tom has really loved being back on ‘The Voice’, and is having a great time working with the other judges and the entire team.
“They all get along famously behind the scenes, as well as on camera.
“But there’s no denying that filming show is very hard work, and takes up a huge amount of time and energy. Tom has really felt that this year.
“He has found it very tiring. And he has been overheard telling his team that he ‘already knows’ he won’t be back for the next series, because it takes too much out of him.”
However, Tom has not officially quit and ITV are working on a plan to get him to stay.
The insider added: “After being so unceremoniously dumped from the BBC show, Tom returned to ‘The Voice’ on ITV with a whole new enthusiasm.
“But while he has thoroughly enjoyed himself, that has come at a cost. And at the moment he seems to feel that he would like to go out on a high.
“Nothing has been decided yet, and ITV are hoping they can change his mind.
“But if not, they will just have to go back to the drawing board.”

EastEnders' Michelle Fowler to fall pregnant?

OHMYGOSSIP — EastEnders’ Michelle Fowler is set to fall pregnant with her teenage boyfriend’s baby.
The sacked teacher – portrayed by Jenna Russell – will find herself in hot water over the next few weeks after she starts to feel unwell following her steamy bunk up with 17-year-old Preston Cooper (Martin Anzor), sparking fears she may be carrying his child.
A source told Inside Soap magazine: “Michelle has been playing with fire for a long time but it’s not just the stress of the situation that needs to be considered.
“The consequences of sleeping with the wrong person can be huge – Michelle just needs to ask her neighbour Denise about the ramifications of an ill-advised bunk up.
“Don’t forget, Michelle’s mum Pauline had her youngest son Martin at 40, so there is a family history of having babies later in life.
“But if Michelle is really carrying the child of a teenager – a boy who was once her student and whom she lost her job over – it would be a huge scandal.”
Michelle returned to Walford from Florida earlier this year after her husband Tim found out about her affair with the schoolboy and she was subsequently fired from her job.
Despite trying to move on with her life in Albert Square, Michelle got the shock of her life last month when Preston rocked up on Valentine’s Day to rekindle their romance.
The blonde beauty has attempted to cool off her relationship with Preston on numerous occasions and persuade him to return to the States so they can both get on with their lives, but he’s not prepared to give up the love of his life without a fight and tried to make her jealous by hooking up with her niece Bex Fowler (Jasmine Armfield).
As well as the possibility of a baby in the mix, Michelle is set to receive a phone call from Preston’s mother this week demanding she send her son back to America.

Margot Robbie cast as Maid Marian in new Robin Hood movie

OHMYGOSSIP — Margot Robbie is to play Maid Marian in an alternate version of ‘Robin Hood’.
The 26-year-old actress will play the central role in a new movie that will take a revisionist look at the Robin Hood story, with Marian leading the resistance and taking her people into battle after her iconic lover dies.
She will work from a script that had been at the centre of an intense bidding war, before it was ultimately secured by Sony and producers Donald De Line and Amy Pascal, according to Deadline.
Margot has starred in a series of big-budget movies since her breakthrough appearance in ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ in 2013, when she appeared alongside Oscar-winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio.
Since then, the blonde beauty has featured in ‘Suicide Squad’, ‘The Legend of Tarzan’ and ‘Focus’.
Margot previously admitted that her relatively modest upbringing in Australia has helped to fuel her professional drive.
The actress and her three siblings were raised by their single mother – and Margot revealed not having much as a child encouraged her to work harder in order to realise her ambitions.
She previously said: “I went to a school where all of my friends were very well-off, and I went to their houses a lot, and so I knew what it looked like to be rich but I didn’t have it, so I was like: ‘OK – I know exactly what I want.'”
Margot explained how working a number of jobs during her youth gave her the confidence to pursue her ambitions.
She said: “The whole fake-it-till-you-make-it thing has really worked out for me.
“The more times you do that, the more you realise that no one really knows what they’re doing; everyone’s kind of figuring it out or pretending they know until they do know. And you can apply that to anything – you just have to hustle.”

Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks to join forces in The Post

OHMYGOSSIP — Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks will reportedly become co-stars for the first time in ‘The Post’.
Steven Spielberg has recruited the Oscar-winning stars for his new movie about the Pentagon Papers, which revealed in 1972 that the US had secretly intensified the scale of the Vietnam War which caused bombings in Cambodia and Laos, and were not reported in the mainstream media.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the ‘Florence Foster Jenkins’ actress will portray the Washington Post newspaper’s publisher Kay Graham, while the ‘Inferno’ actor is being lined up to play the paper’s editor Ben Bradlee.
The plot, based on real life events, will see the duo take on the American Government for the right to expose the details of the war.
The official biography of the film reads: “Before Watergate, there were the Pentagon Papers. This is the true story of how Washington Post scion Katharine Graham and legendary editor Ben Bradlee overcame their differences to publish the story that would change their lives and forever changed the relationship between the White House and the press.”
The movie is being produced by Amy Pascal and scripted by Liz Hannah.
It is the fifth movie Hanks, 60, has done with Spielberg, 70.
His previous outings with the legendary filmmaker were 2015’s ‘Bridge of Spies’, 2004’s ‘The Terminal’, 2002’s ‘Catch Me If You Can’ and 1998 classic ‘Saving Private Ryan’.
And Streep, 67, perviously starred in Spielberg’s ‘A.I. Artificial Intelligence’ in 2001.

Peter Capaldi to battle favourite monster in final Doctor Who series

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Capaldi is to battle his favourite ever monster in his last series as ‘Doctor Who’.
The 58-year-old Scottish actor has begun filming the final two episodes of the upcoming Series 10 and his Twelfth Doctor will have to battle one of his oldest enemies, the Mondasian Cybermen.
The villains are the original version of the familiar foes, hailing from Earth’s twin planet Mondas and have not been seen in the BBC One sci-if show for over 50 years. They first appeared in 1966 serial ‘The Tenth Planet’ in what was First Doctor William Hartnell’s final storyline before he regenerated into Second Doctor Patrick Troughton.
The Time Lord will fight the Mondasian Cybermen in episodes 11 and 12 of the series, which will also star Pearl Mackie as new companion Bill Potts, Matt Lucas as Nardole and Michelle Gomez as Missy – the female regeneration of The Master. The episodes, written by Steven Moffat and directed by Rachel Talalay, are currently shooting in Cardiff, Wales.
Life-long Whovian Capaldi has frequently cited the Mondasian Cybermen as the classic monster he would most like to battle throughout his tenure in the TARDIS.
He previously said: “I’d like to see – this is really one for geeks – the return of the Mondasian Cybermen. They came from the Planet Mondas and they were absolutely terrifying, with cloth faces. That was really creepy.”
Showrunner Moffat – who is also departing the programme after eight years in charge – had previously dismissed Capaldi’s wish, citing the limitations of their appearance due to their creation in the 60s as his reason for not bringing them back. But the ‘Sherlock’ creator has finally given in.
Moffat, 55, said: “We’re not bringing those Cybermen back, because they look like boys with sweaters pulled over their heads. We’re not having a fight about which kind of Cybermen are better!”
The Cybermen have undergone numerous design changes over the years and there are different versions of the menacing cyborg race in the Who universe.
The new series of ‘Doctor Who’ begins on BBC One on Saturday 15 April.

Holly Willoughby loves Friend-trips

OHMYGOSSIP — Holly Willloughby loves going on “friend-trips”.
The 36-year-old presenter – who is married to television producer Dan Baldwin, with whom she has three children, son Harry, seven, daughter Belle, five, and two-year-old son Chester – treasures time away with her female pals and will never forget the time she went away without her kids for the first time, and had such a good time hanging out with her mates, they didn’t even go out.
She said: “Whilst I love getting away with my family, some of my favourite holidays are ‘friend-trips’. I have so many memories of really happy, carefree and hilarious times. I had a brilliant girls weekend in Ibiza a couple of years ago.
“It was the first time I had been and it was great fun. It was my first weekend away without the children with the girls and we actually didn’t go out once. Instead we stayed in and had our own mini disco!”
The ‘This Morning’ star is fronting a new campaign for Diet Coke, ‘Get The Gang Back Together.’
And research from Diet Coke has revealed almost a third of people would rather go on holiday with their friends than their family, while 44% admitted they have more fun if they go away with their pals than their partners or relatives, while 42% are more “energised” when they go away with their buddies.
The study also showed 81 % want to spend more time with their friends, with just over a quarter only seeing their close friends less than twice a year.
But it seems that might be about to change, as 46% of respondents have a holiday planned with their best friends this year, compared with just 22% of people who managed it over the last 12 months.
To celebrate the joy of spending quality time with our BFFs, Diet Coke is helping friends across the UK ‘Get The Gang Back Together.’ Five lucky groups of friends will enjoy a night away in a luxury penthouse hotel in one of five top cities – Rome, Paris, Barcelona, London and Dublin.
Aedamar Howlett, Marketing Director for Coca-Cola Great Britain, said; “This year Diet Coke is all about celebrating those special moments we share with our frie nds. Spending quality time together is what makes us feel happier because of the fun and laughter that goes with it. We’re excited to be enabling Diet Coke drinkers to get their friends together – here’s to the year of the ‘friend-trip!”

Chanelle Hayes thought she was dying of cancer

OHMYGOSSIP — Chanelle Hayes thought she was dying of cancer before she found out she was pregnant.
The 29-year-old television personality – who has six-year-old son Blakely with her former partner Matthew Bates – was convinced she was going to be told she had just weeks to live when she received a call from her doctor asking her to make an appointment.
But she and her partner Ryan Oates were over the moon when they found out that they were actually expecting a baby together, despite the fact Chanelle was suffering with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and hadn’t had a period since last year.
Speaking to The Sun Online, she said: “I was having blood tests to find out why I wasn’t having a period and after the last one my doctors called and said I needed to go into the surgery urgently. I panicked and thought I was dying of cancer, because for me there was nothing else it could be.
“I called Ryan and he thought I was dying too – you expect the worse when you receive a call like that telling you that you need to see your GP immediately. We were both terrified. I went into the surgery and they told me my pregnancy hormones had tripled.
“They thought I might have suffered a miscarriage and never knew I was pregnant, but after they did some more tests they confirmed I was pregnant. I was stunned – I just didn’t understand how it could have happened when I hadn’t been having periods.”
The brunette beauty now feels like the “Virgin Mary” and can’t wait to meet her baby.
She said: “My doctor told me that although it’s rare it is possible, it’s incredible – I feel like the Virgin Mary! I cried non-stop when I was first told I might never have children so now I couldn’t be more excited. Ryan is over the moon at having his first child – he’s brilliant. He’s bought the Expectant Dad’s handbook and wants to be involved in every step of the way. When we had the first scan it was so emotional, we were both crying.
“Seeing our tiny baby on the screen was amazing. He was dancing around and looked like he was waving at us. In the scan photo it looks like he’s giving us the thumbs up!
“Ryan is feeling nervous and he’s scared of course but he’s so good with Blakely I know he’s going to be an amazing dad. Blakely started screaming and running around when I told him. For the last three years he’s asked me for a baby brother or sister for Christmas and I had to tell him Santa couldn’t bring babies. But now his dream has come true! He’s going to be a great big brother – and a free babysitter for me in a few years’ time!”

Susanna Reid can't date at the moment

OHMYGOSSIP — Susanna Reid “can’t be in a relationship at the moment.”
The ‘Good Morning Britain’ presenter may have won the hearts of the nation but she has admitted she’s got no desire to find a partner any time soon because she doesn’t have any time for love right now and would prefer to focus on her career.
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph newspaper, she said: “I just can’t have a relationship at the moment. I’d choose not to (date) because my most important thing is being a mum. I don’t think there would be time for anything else because relationships take up a lot of emotional energy, don’t they?”
And it looks like 46-year-old host – who is regularly contacted by male fans – has drawn the line at marriage because she doesn’t think she’s “wife material”.
After a fan messaged her co-host Piers Morgan asking him to put in a good word for him, Susanna said: “Thanks, but… I’m never getting married #NotWifeMaterial. (sic)”
The brunette beauty – who split from her boyfriend Dominic Cotton three years ago – was also inundated with offers online last week but she shot them down by claiming she was actually single “by choice” and wasn’t interested in anyone at the moment.
She said: “Thanks for your generous offers this morning twitter but…. I’m single by choice.”
Meanwhile, as well as presenting ‘GMB’, Susanna has also been snapped up to host the forthcoming eight-part show ‘Save Money: Good Food’ alongside chef Matt Tebbutt this spring as they offer tips on how to be a logical spender without jeopardising quality or taste.
She said recently: “It’s a challenge some families face daily, thinking up the week’s food menu and how to make them continually interesting while shopping within a budget. Matt is a great cook and I’m delighted to be working with him.”

Logan screenwriter shares reason for film's success

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Logan’s screenwriter Scott Frank believes the movie worked because it didn’t “have to connect it to any larger universe”.
The 56-year-old writer was thrilled the team got to go in a different direction for the last instalment of the Wolverine franchise as he didn’t want the film to become “another superhero movie with a lot of CGI stuff”.
Asked what was different about it this time around compared to ‘The Wolverine’, which Frank also wrote, he told the Hollywood Reporter: “We didn’t have to connect it to any larger ‘universe’. Or, as Jim keeps saying, ‘We didn’t have to sell Happy Meals.’ And so that was great.
“Whereas, the last one, my favourite part is where he’s in the middle of rural Japan and with this woman and being a human being and feeling what it’s like to be a human being. But we’re not there very long before we’re back to giant robots and stuff. And then it becomes just another superhero movie with a lot of CGI stuff.
“And we were trying to avoid that this time around, and the studio had changed studio heads and they were very much into the idea of trying something new, because otherwise, what’s the point? The only way these movies have value is if they become about something else. They can’t all be about saving the world.”
Meanwhile, director James Mangold previously revealed he believes the R rating given to ‘Logan’ has been key to the movie’s success.
Speaking about the film – which stars Hugh Jackman as the titular character – he explained: “I knew that if Hugh and I could get an R, then we’ll have the freedom to make an adult film.
“Because the second the marketing arm of a studio realises it cannot market to children, five or six creative things happen. The scenes can go deeper, and can be written for adults. Not just language, not just [violence], as you’re saying, but the themes can be more interesting, the words you’re using can be more complicated. The ideas can be more complicated.”
In its first weekend at the box office, studio estimates suggest ‘Logan’ took a massive $85.3m in north America alone.
