Mackenzie Lansing enjoyed her ‘liberating’ death scene in Hunger Games prequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Mackenzie Lansing found her death scene in ‘The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’ “liberating”.
The actress played the role of female tribute Coral in the dystopian prequel but met her end after being engulfed by mutant snakes and found it freeing as she had complete control over the scene.
In an interview with ComicBook.com, Mackenzie said: “I’ve been on other sets before where you’re wearing a suit with dots. I did a movie also called ‘The Creator’, where I was attacked by a robot, and so there’s a guy in a blue suit. What was really special about this is there was nothing, and you can think that that’s kind of terrifying, but actually it was the most liberating experience as an actor because there were no instructions.
“I got to decide how quickly the snakes move. Every actor got to decide how they’re responding to the poison, how quickly it affects them, does it slur their words? And of course, we’re all kind of on the same page on what it does, but just like anything else, it’s going to affect people differently.
“So, any time you see me rip a snake off, that’s like, ‘Oh, I decided that there’s a snake here,’ and so I think that that was one of the most exciting things is we got to make those choices as actors.”
Coral’s weapon of choice in the film is a trident and Mackenzie revealed the painstaking preparation that went into mastering the use of the three-pronged spear.
She said: “We would start the day warming up with that because very much to make it go smoothly and also just for it to be very realistic for everybody, we wanted to be able to do that scene without stopping, so they could do one take if necessary. So, especially when you see the drone shots and everything, we just went through the entire battle, which meant run for weapon, dodge, roll over your back, another person comes. So, you had to prepare for the entire fight, which was kind of a first sort in ‘The Hunger Games’, which was very cool.”
Lansing added: “But then in terms of the trident specifically, after that, we would break off and I would spend hours a day sort of throwing my trident around, doing trident choreography, and it was really cool to learn this new skill and be sort of stretched that way. And it became, to me, a very important part of actually getting into character.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Molly Smith and Tom Clare have won ‘Love Island: All Stars’.
The blonde beauty and Tom, 24, have been crowned as the winners of the ITV show, after they overcame competition from Callum Jones and his new partner Jess Gale to claim the £50,000 prize.
Reflecting on their success, Tom said: “Wow! I can’t believe it – it is mental!”
Molly, 29 – who became emotional after being crowned as the winner – has admitted that she sees a long-term future with Tom.
She said: “It was all meant to be. I wouldn’t entertain it if I didn’t see this being something serious on the outside.”
Tom is also determined to continue their romance in the outside world.
He told Molly: “I genuinely see you being my girlfriend.”

On the other hand, Molly acknowledged that she’s faced her fair share of criticism, too.
The reality star said: “With fame, there is trolling of course. If you put yourself out there on social media, you’re going to get trolling. I tend to delete the comment, block the account and try to ignore it.”
Meanwhile, Sophie Piper – who is the younger sister of ‘This Morning’s Rochelle Humes – and Josh Ritchie came in third place during the ‘Love Island: All Stars’ final.

Michael Keaton wanted Beetlejuice sequel to ‘feel handmade’

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Keaton wanted ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ to “feel handmade”.
The 72-year-old actor is reprising his role as the ‘ghost with the most’ in a highly anticipated sequel to the original 1988 horror comedy, with Catherine O’Hara and Winona Ryder also back, and he has revealed how he and returning director Tim Burton want the new movie to look.
He told People magazine: “The one thing that he and I decided on early, early, early on from the beginning, if we ever did it again, I was totally not interested in doing something where there was too much technology.
“It had to feel handmade…
“What made it fun was watching somebody in the corner actually holding something up for you, to watch everybody in the shrunken head room and say, ‘Those are people under there, operating these things, trying to get it right.’ ”
He admitted getting to work in that was thrilling, particularly after the Hollywood trend of relying on green screen for many big budget blockbusters.
He added: “It’s the most exciting thing. When you get to do that again after years of standing in front of a giant screen, pretending somebody’s across the way from you, this is just enormous fun.”
Keaton, who also previously worked with Burton on the likes of ‘Batman’ and ‘Batman Returns’, explained how he and the filmmaker want to make sure the sequel is done “right”.
He said: “We thought, ‘You got to get this right. Otherwise, just don’t do it. Let’s just go on with our lives and do other things.’
“So I was hesitant and cautious, and he was probably equally as hesitant and cautious over all these years.
“Once we got there, I said, ‘Okay, let’s just go for it. Let’s just see if we can do it, if we can pull this off,’ ”

‘We are taking this very seriously’ BAFTA condemns actions of ‘social media prankster’

OHMYGOSSIP — BAFTA has condemned the actions of a “social media prankster” who invaded the stage when ‘Oppenheimer’ was named Best Film at Sunday’s (18.02.24) ceremony.
Director Christopher Nolan, producers Emma Thomas and Charles Roven and leading man Cillian Murphy all headed to the stage for the final award of the night at the EE British Academy Film Awards, which took place at London’s Royal Festival Hall, and they were joined by a prankster who was removed by security.
BAFTA has admitted they are taking the matter “very seriously”.
A BAFTA spokesperson told Variety: “A social media prankster was removed by security last night after joining the winners of the final award on stage – we are taking this very seriously, and don’t wish to grant him any publicity by commenting further.”
The prankster appeared from the opposite side of the stage to the ‘Oppenheimer’ stars and was still on the stage when Thomas delivered her speech.
Despite the stage intrusion, ‘Oppenheimer’ had a hugely successful night at this year’s BAFTAs, scooping seven awards.
The historical saga – based on the life of American theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer – was nominated for a total of 13 awards and triumphed seven times, for Best Film, Leading Actor for Murphy, Supporting Actor for Robert Downey Jr, Best Director for Nolan, along with Original Score, Cinematography and Editing accolades.
Accepting his prize, Murphy said: “Oh boy, holy moly, thank you very, very much BAFTA.
“To the most dynamic, kindest producer-director partnership in Hollywood: Chris Nolan and Emma Thomas, thank you for seeing something in me that I probably didn’t see in myself.
“Thank for always pushing me and demanding excellence because that is what you deliver time and time again.”
He added to his “fellow nominees and my Oppenhomies, I know it’s a cliche to say, but I’m in awe of you.”

Claudia Winkleman reveals bizarre fake tan substitute on The Traitors

OHMYGOSSIP — Claudia Winkleman was forced to use gravy instead of fake tan during ‘The Traitors’.
The 51-year-old presenter needed to think on her feet and find an alternative method for an emergency top up during filming at the remote Ardross Castle location in the Scottish Highlands.
Speaking on BBC panel show ‘Would I Lie To You?’, Claudia confessed: “I didn’t have my normal fake tan there because I was in the castle, so what I thought was, ‘Let’s just use something!’
“I don’t think I’m allowed to say a brand, but it was gravy granules.
“I’d had a spray tan, but it was episode five – round table, you’re wearing tweed, but what else do you need? Gravy granules.”
Asked where the unusual substitute came from, Claudia revealed there were some shops nearby.
She added: “They came from a shop – there are shops there – and it’s really good. It really works.”
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star previously insisted “there is no such thing as too orange”, and she has revaled her unusual technique for getting rid of the fake tan.
Appearing on ‘The Graham Norton Show’, she said: “When I was a university, I got rid of the bed and hired a sunbed instead – it was super cosy, and I was fluorescent!
“I love being orange but to scrub it off I use table salt and a scourer – I have asked my husband to do it but it’s not good for foreplay.”
She also acknowledged the “unhealthy” side of her past sunbed habits.
She added: “I never get on the sunbed now. My body no longer recognises the actual sun.”
Meanwhile, in the past Claudia has admitted to using Bisto gravy, mud and old tea bags to maintain her tan on a budget during her university days.
Speaking to BBC Radio 4’s ‘Women’s Hour’, she said: “Everything was reused, and I mean everything.”

She said on the show: “I’ve got some very sad news to break about a much-beloved member of the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ family.
“On their Facebook page today – I’m sorry, I’m not going to be able to read this, Ed, because I danced with him. It’s about Robin Windsor.”
After Ed read out the announcement, Susanna paid tribute to Robin as “an absolutely remarkable dancer”.
She said: “Robin was larger than life and I fell in love with him and fell in love with dancing when I danced with him back then. He was an absolutely remarkable dancer, incredibly strong, so creative, he was just so enthusiastic about dancing.”
Later in the episode, Susanna added: “I have wonderful memories of you, Robin. I was luckily enough to dance with Robin.
“He was very sensual, wonderfully exuberant, endlessly enthusiastic, full of strength and creative, and sparkle, as Richard Arnold just said.
“He was a fabulous, phenomenal personality.
“He had an infectious sparkle. You felt like you were dancing with somebody who just embodied the magic of ‘Strictly’.”
Robin was a ‘Strictly’ pro from 2010 to 2013, partnering the likes of Patsy Kensit, Anita Dobson, Lisa Riley and Deborah Meaden.
‘Emmerdale’ actress Lisa has been left devastated by Robin’s passing, admitting her heart has been “broken” by the news of his death.
She wrote on Instagram: “My Bestie, My Robin, My Angel….now our forever Angel, who is loved, will always be loved, forever in my heart……my very broken heart, I love you, shine your beautiful, electric energy from heaven. [broken heart emojis] SHINE IN PEACE [broken heart emojis] (sic)”

Mark Wright ‘flooded Gethin Jones’ dressing room during Morning Live guest stint’

OHMYGOSSIP — Mark Wright accidentally flooded Gethin Jones’ dressing room when he stood in for the star on ‘Morning Live’.
The former ‘TOWIE’ star, 37, is said to have left a tap running in TV presenter Gethin’s room, which he was using at the BBC’s studio in Salford before guest hosting the magazine-style programme, but Mark’s time on screen was by no means a washout.
A TV insider told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “Far from being a washout, he was superb during his time on screen and everyone thought he did a great job standing in for Gethin.”
Despite the flood, ‘Morning Live’ bosses are expected to ask Mark back onto the show.
The insider added: “So this slight hiccup was easily overlooked by the show’s bosses and he is likely to be asked back at some point.
“But Gethin might ask that he uses someone else’s dressing room next time!”
A BBC spokesman said: “We don’t comment on leaks.”
Last month, it was confirmed Mark’s BBC travel series, ‘A Wright Family Holiday’, which he fronted last summer as he explored domestic tourist attractions with his brother Josh and dad Mark Sr., wouldn’t be returning for a second run.
The BBC confirmed: “‘A Wright Family Holiday’ was commissioned as a one off.”
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “The series was always going to be a suck-it-and-see job.
“If it went down well with audiences and got healthy viewing figures, the BBC would have been tempted to maybe explore another series.
“The Wrights would have been up for it, but it wasn’t to be.”
However, the door is not closed and the broadcaster is open to the prospect of more projects.
The source added: “The consolation, though, is that the BBC is still keen to work with them and they could be offered another type of show in the future.”

‘I feel like everything I do is wrong’ Dancing on Ice’s Amber Davies deletes X due to trolls

OHMYGOSSIP — Amber Davies has deleted X after being trolled amid her ‘Dancing on Ice’ stint.
The former ‘Love Island’ winner topped the leaderboard three times in a row in the lead up to Sunday night’s (18.02.24) show, when she ended up in the skate-off, but survived when former ‘EastEnders’ star Ricky Norwood was sent home instead.
Away from the rink, Amber has been trolled on social media, so much so she has deleted X, formerly Twitter, because the negative messages were getting to her.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’, she said: “I’ve deleted Twitter [X] now. I haven’t been on TV for seven years, and social media has changed.
“I’m quite sensitive, I’m more sensitive than I thought, and I’ve been reading people’s comments. I’ve really let it get into my head.
“I feel like everything I do is wrong in some of people’s perspective from the audience.”
Amber has now called for viewers to be more “mindful” when writing comments on social media.
She said: “So I just wanted to say, ‘Please be mindful when you’re writing on someone’s social media, because we are just human beings.’
“Maybe rather than going onto my page and leaving a negative comment, go to the contestant’s page you support and leave a really lovely comment to them. Flick the switch a little bit.”
Despite the trolling, Amber admitted ‘Dancing on Ice’ has been the “best experience” of her life.
She added: “It’s pushed me to limits I never thought I would go to.”
The star was favourite to win the series before Sunday’s skate-off appearance, but Amber had a feeling she might be in the bottom two.
She said: “I had a gut feeling it was coming, in some weird way.
“I thought, ‘Only I could go from top of the leaderboards to the skate-off.’ ”

‘To stand the test of time is always the goal’: Margot Robbie hopes Barbie is watched for decades

OHMYGOSSIP — Margot Robbie hopes that ‘Barbie’ is enjoyed for years to come.
The 33-year-old actress played the title role in last year’s box office smash and hopes that audiences return to the film – which has been nominated for the Best Picture Oscar – for generations as continued popularity is “the mark” of a successful flick.
Margot told IndieWire: “For a movie to stand the test of time is always the goal. And there are movies I still watch, we all rewatch movies from 20, 30, 50, 60 years ago that feel as potent today as it did back then. And that’s the mark of a great film. So I really do hope that ‘Barbie’ is appreciated and still feels relevant in decades to come.”
The blockbuster captured the imagination around the globe when it was released last summer – with audiences flocking to cinemas dressed in pink – and Margot thinks it was the first film to make such an impact since ‘Harry Potter’ more than 20 years ago.
The ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ actress said: “There still doesn’t feel like a comparison of a movie that hit the zeitgeist in the way that this did, whilst having pretty spicy cultural conversations, while also injecting a huge amount of joy, whilst also being at this budget size.
“There was such a confluence of elements in this scenario that I can’t think of, ‘OK, when’s the last time I walked through a movie theatre and saw people dressing up to go the cinema?’ The ‘Harry Potter’ films?”
Margot was controversially snubbed in the nominations for Best Actress at next month’s Academy Awards but she insists that she feels “blessed” anyway, although she is disappointed that director Greta Gerwig missed out on a nod.
Speaking as part of a panel at a SAG screening of ‘Barbie’, she said: “There’s no way to feel sad when you know you’re this blessed. Obviously I think Greta should be nominated as a director, because what she did is a once-in-a-career, once-in-a-lifetime thing, what she pulled off, it really is. But it’s been an incredible year for all the films.”

Yorgos Lanthimos is to direct a remake of the South Korean film ‘Save the Green Planet’

OHMYGOSSIP — Yorgos Lanthimos is to direct a remake of the South Korean film ‘Save the Green Planet’.
The ‘Poor Things’ filmmaker is set to begin shooting the fantasy comedy movie in the UK and New York this summer with Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe at Element Pictures serving as producers.
The project appears to be the ideal movie for Lanthimos because it is a black comedy that tells the story of a disillusioned young man who captures and tortures a businessman who he is convinced is part of an alien invasion.
A battle of wits takes place between the captor, his devoted girlfriend, the businessman and a private detective.
The original South Korean movie was released in 2003 and directed by Jang Joon-hwan. It became a festival favourite around the world – winning prizes in Bucheon, Buenos Aires and Brussels and earned Jang the Golden Bell Award for best new director in Korea that year.
‘Poor Things’ has earned critical acclaim and won five prizes at the BAFTA Film Awards at the weekend although Yorgos recently explained that he wanted to be known for more than just absurdist pictures.
Speaking at an interview organised by the British Film Institute (BFI) last month, the Greek director said: “It’s always not the most pleasant thing to just be boxed into one thing. I guess there is some kind of absurdity in the films, but I hope they’re more complex than that.
“I understand why people have the need to describe it a certain way or make sense of it by using language. But the thing is, the trouble is language is not always sufficient for any kind of work of art.”

Louis Walsh ‘signs up for Celebrity Big Brother’

OHMYGOSSIP — Louis Walsh has reportedly signed up to appear in the next series of ‘Celebrity Big Brother’.
The 71-year-old TV talent show judge/music manager is said to have landed a six-figure deal to move into the Big Brother house when the show returns for a run on ITV1 in March and TV bosses are reportedly hoping Louis lifts the lid on his life in showbiz during his time on camera.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “He is one of the most intriguing signings for ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ because he has almost half a century of experience in showbusiness to recall when he enters the house.
“Viewers will be most interested in his memories of his time on ‘The X Factor’ and working with huge music acts including Westlife and Boyzone.
“But there may be a few celebrities outside the house who are feeling nervous about what he might say, because Louis is notoriously outspoken.”
ITV bosses have yet to confirm the line-up for the new show, but other names rumoured to be entering the house include former ‘Love Island’ star Ekin-Su Culculoglu, Faryal Makhdoom – wife of boxer Amir Khan – and Gary Goldsmith, the uncle of Catherine, Princess of Wales.
Another former ‘Love Island’ star Olivia Attwood is said to have been in talks to join while other names mentioned include Katie Price, ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ head judge Shirley Ballas, Rebekah Vardy – the wife of England footballer Jamie Vardy and ‘TOWIE’ star Joey Essex.
The star-studded version of the celebrity spin-off show will air on ITV next month, co-hosted by new ‘Big Brother’ presenters Will Best and AJ Odudu, who presented ITV’s first-ever series of the reality TV show last year.
At the time, the launch show was pre-recorded, which narrator Marcus Bentley said was to “avoid chaos”, but the premiere of the new celebrity season looks set to be live.

Trisha Goddard was diagnosed with secondary cancer 19 months ago

OHMYGOSSIP — Trisha Goddard’s cancer has returned.
The 66-year-old TV star was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008, and she has gone public 19 months after her secondary cancer was detected by accident in July 2022, and vowed to “keep enjoying” her life.
She told HELLO! magazine: “It’s not going to go away.
“And with that knowledge comes grief, and fear. But I must keep enjoying what I have always enjoyed.”
Trisha struggled with keeping the diagnosis secret.
She admitted: “I can’t lie; I can’t keep making up stories.
“It gets to a stage, after a year and a half, when keeping a secret becomes more of a burden than anything else.”
She added: “I’m nervous.
“But it needed to be done.”
The CNN reporter – who presents a weekly show on talkTV – doesn’t want to become “a poster girl for cancer” and hates being told she is brave or that she is “battling” a terminal illness.
She said: “It’s not who I am. It’s not why I’m here.”
“Also, I didn’t want to read words like ‘dying’ and ‘terminal’ or ‘battling’. Or ‘inspirational’, because it’s all [redacted].”
Trisha – who is best known for hosting her now-defunct talk show ‘Trisha’ in the UK and ‘The Trisha Goddard Show’ in the US – lives in Connecticut with her husband Allen.
She is extremely active but was concerned something wasn’t right when she started getting injured during exercise.
Whilst running upstairs at home, she slipped and took a nasty tumble.
She recalled: “I was upside down, my legs behind me, and clinging on to the banister. I went to move my leg – and I’m not a wimp – but I’d never felt pain like it. I now know it was shattered.”
Unable to move, she was able to contact her neighbour and was taken to hospital where her spouse joined her.
It was then she was dealt with the news that she had cancer cells and a tumour.
Allen shared: “She was in acute pain.
“Then a young resident – like a junior doctor – came in and said: ‘Oh, it looks as though you broke your femur and smashed your right hip, which is full of cancer cells. And you have a tumour. It doesn’t look good.'”
Trisha added: “That was the first I heard that the cancer had come back. And the first thing I asked was: ‘Am I going to die?'”
As well as the cancer in the hip, Trisha had partial hip replacement and was fitted with a titanium femur.
Trisha underwent daily radiation for three weeks and weekly chemotherapy for four and a half months.
Speaking on the options for cancer patients in the US, she said: “When you go to the doctors in the States, there’s a choice of three little boxes you tick for treatment of stage 4 cancer.
“One is cure, one is life-prolonging and one is palliative. There’s that awful feeling when you’re sitting there thinking: ‘Which one?’ And mine is life-prolonging.”

Lori Singer and Kevin Bacon ‘joked’ about a Footloose sequel

OHMYGOSSIP — Lori Singer and Kevin Bacon have “joked” about an idea for a sequel to ‘Footloose’.
As the iconic 1984 musical drama – which was helmed by Herbert Ross – turns 40 this year, the 66-year-old actress has revealed her plot for a follow-up movie, that would see Ren McCormack (Kevin), a teenager from Chicago who moves to a small town, reunited with his childhood crush Ariel Moore (Lori).
She told PEOPLE: “I don’t know if Kevin even remembers this, but I actually had sort of an idea where Ariel grows up and goes to New York where she wanted to be, and Kevin stays there.
“Kevin stays in the town, and he becomes a bigger deal in the town. That’s where he becomes the town lawyer or whatever.”
She recalled how the pair would be reunited in their hometown, Bomont, after her father becomes seriously unwell.
Lori continued: “She comes back because her father’s sick.
“I mean, I just played with that idea years ago and we were talking about it and joking.
“But that was just something for us to meet on and talk about and laugh about.”
It doesn’t sound like there are any plans for a sequel.
Speaking on a recent episode of the ‘Six Degrees with Kevin Bacon’ podcast, Kevin said with regards to a sequel: “Never say never, [but] I think it would be a disaster.”
A remake was released in 2011, starring Kenny Wormald, 39, and Julianne Hough, 35, as Ren and Ariel.
It grossed $63 million worldwide and was largely praised by critics and fans alike.

Kristen Stewart’s Susan Sontag biopic is a ‘film within a film’

OHMYGOSSIP — Kristen Stewart’s Susan Sontag biopic is an “experiment” which will blend the genres of movies and documentaries.
The ‘Twilight’ star is set to play the renowned writer in new film ‘Sontag’ which will be directed by Kirsten Johnson and based on the biography ‘Sontag: Her Life’ by Ben Moser – and the actress has now revealed the project has a “unique format” and is going to take a long time to complete.
Speaking during a press conference at the Berlin Film Festival in Germany, she explained: “The Sontag thing will be made over such a long span of time. The format is unique. It’s a hybrid documentary, research project, experiment, film within a film type thing.”
The project was announced at the film festival last year, and Stewart admitted she has no idea when it will be finished. She added: “We started last year here at the festival. I don’t know when we’re going to finish it. It’s an open-ended process.”
During the press conference, Stewart also spoke about her new movie ‘Love Lies Bleeding’ about a gym manager who embarks on a doomed romance with an ambitious bodybuilder and she insisted she hopes it will herald in a new era of queer moviemaking.
She explained: “I think we can’t keep doing that thing where we tell everyone how to feel and sort of pat each other on the back and receive brownie points for providing space for marginalised voices, and only in the capacity that they are allowed to speak about that alone.
“We’ve all been there the whole time. I think the era of queer films being so pointedly only that is done, it’s over. Maybe they’ll keep happening, but I think it’s sort of inherent to how we’re all moving forward.”
Stewart added: “I’m really kind of into the idea of unearthing sidelined perspectives and not making it all about the reasons that they’re sidelined, but their actual experience.
“What they love, what their desires are, where they come from, where they want to go. And then not feeling like you always have to stand on a … soapbox and be everyone’s spokesperson.”

Danny Dyer wants to ‘recalibrate’ after ‘nutty’ exit from ‘EastEnders’

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Dyer says he wants to “recalibrate” and try something new after his “nutty” exit from ‘EastEnders’.
The 46-year-old ‘Football Factory’ actor played pub landlord Mick Carter on the BBC soap for nearly a decade from 2013 but is now filming a Sky series ‘Mr Bigstuff’, which sees him playing a prescription drug addict called Lee – who carries his dead dad’s ashes around in a biscuit tin and turns his little brother Glen and fiancée Kirsty’s into chaos when he returns from being on the run.
Danny told The Sun about his latest role: “Following my nutty (‘EastEnders’) exit, I feel like it’s time to recalibrate and try something new.
“I was honoured to be asked to develop an exciting character and explore his dysfunctional family.”
Danny’s upcoming six-parter for Sky is due to air in spring, and was written by ‘Brassic’ actor Ryan Sampson, who plays Tommo in the Sky One comedy and also stars as Lee’s brother Glen in ‘Mr Bigstuff’.
He added about the show: “As a particularly short, gay dude, I’m fascinated by masculinity – by all the ways that we’re trying and failing to do it right.
“Maybe it’s because of some unresolved short-man issues.
“I probably should have got therapy, but instead I’ve written a show about it. And I’m lucky in having Danny joining me for the ride.”
Danny has said he quit ‘EastEnders’ in Christmas 2022 as he found what turned out to be his character’s final plotline bizarre.
Mick appeared to die on Christmas Day after his new wife Janine Butcher had driven his ex-wife Linda Carter into the sea.
The Queen Vic bar owner went in to save her but seemingly got into difficulty and was presumed dead and lost at sea.
Danny told the Daily Mirror about his time on the soap: “The first few years we smashed it. It was powerful.
“The viewer listened to us more than these politicians.
“I was blessed with some amazing storylines, some (bad) ones as well. They (messed) it up towards the end.
“It’s a shame it had to come to an end but I’d had enough.”
