Inspector Morse creator Colin Dexter dies aged 86

OHMYGOSSIP — The creator of ‘Inspector Morse’ has died at the age of 86.
Colin Dexter – who penned the crime novels between 1975 and 1999 – passed away peacefully at his home in Oxford on Tuesday (21.03.17) morning.
A representative told the BBC: “With immense sadness, MacMillan announces the death of Colin Dexter who died peacefully at his home in Oxford this morning.”
Colin’s gritty novels, which followed the character of Morse, inspired the drama – made by Zenith Productions – of the same name on ITV that ran from 1987 until 2000.
The writer – who started his career as a teacher before he was forced to give it up due to hearing problems – previously explained he started penning the detective stories by longhand on paper during a rainy holiday with his family in North Wales.
He said in 2012: “The children were moaning. I was sitting at the kitchen table with nothing else to do, and I wrote the first few paragraphs of a potential detective novel.”
Colin’s character became such a fan favourite that he actually inspired a sequel series ‘Lewis’ and a prequel ‘Endeavour’, which followed Morse as a young man.
John Thaw portrayed the original Morse for 13 years until his death, before Shaun Evans was cast as the unlucky-in-love detective in the prequel in 2012.

Linda Robson enjoys 'Ok' orgasm as part of weekly challenge

OHMYGOSSIP — Linda Robson had her first orgasm of the week on Monday night (20.03.17) as part of her week-long sex challenge.
The 59-year-old actress has agreed to get hot under the bed sheets with her husband of almost 30 years, Mark Dunford, “everyday” for seven days without him knowing about the plan to see if it will boost her performance not only in the bedroom but also at work.
And the ‘Birds of a Feather’ star has revealed she completed all of her ablutions ahead of a steamy sex session, and enjoyed an “OK” fumble with her partner last night, although she feared she wouldn’t be able to complete the challenge after a few hours of being set the task because her spouse was engrossed in a film.
Speaking on ‘Loose Women’ about the intimate moment on Tuesday (21.03.17), she said: “I was set a challenge to have an orgasm everyday for the next seven days.
“Fortunately my husband didn’t know about it.
“So I started off, had a nice bath, shaved my legs – only the front, obviously, because you can’t see the rest of it – shaved my arms, had a little pluck of my chin, put my little nighty on. And I was sitting on the armchair looking at him and he was laying on the sofa with his laptop with his earphones on watching a film, and I thought ‘There’s no way anything’s going to happen tonight he’s enjoying this film too much.’
“But, eventually I did go up to bed, yeah it did happen. I didn’t initiate it, he started it. So the first night was OK.”
However, the London-born star believes going at it like rabbits for round two tonight will be “more difficult”, because she will “never” initiate a steamy sex session.
She explained: “But tonight is going to be a bit more difficult, because there’s no way he’s going to want it on the second night.
“If I tell him it puts the pressure on him, I think, that he’s got to do it. There’s no way I would initiate it. I never have the confidence. I always wait until he initiates it. I don’t think that’s going to happen tonight.”
Although Linda is worried she may not be able to complete the challenge, the chat show’s panellists have advised her to use other methods to reach the big O.
Janet Street-Porter said: “You can have an orgasm without a bloke, you know?”
To which Linda replied: “What have I got to go to Ann Summers or somewhere after the show or something?”

Beauty and the Beast's enchanted forest features 20,000 icicles

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Beauty and the Beast’s enchanted forests featured a staggering 20,000 icicles.
Filmmakers have shared the secrets of making the live action Disney tale on a spectacular set built on the backlot at Shepperton Studios, located on the outskirts of London, revealing certain backdrops took months to complete.
In an official guide to the film, handed to cinemagoers on the opening weekend, details of the enchanted 18th Century setting – built on a total of 27 large-scale practical sets – were revealed, including a spectacular challenge to make a spine-chilling enchanted forest.
According to the guide: “The enchanted forest took 15 weeks to complete, includes real trees, hedges, a frozen lake, a set of 29-foot high ice gates and approximately 20,000 icicles.”
The forest is a key part of the film as it adds the fear factor when both Belle (Emma Watson) and also her father make their way from the village to the spooky castle and it’s spine chilling detailing gives the added scare factor to scenes featuring the sharp teeth-baring wolves.
A team of more than 1,000 members worked “around-the-clock” to build and decorate all the mammoth sets, providing an incredible amount of hand-detailed artistry.
And the thousands of books featured in the library at the Beast’s castle, were not regular propers as they were “created especially for the production”.
The live-action movie starts in the fictional town of Villeneuve, which is home to Belle and her father.
The town, measuring 28,787 square feet, was named after the author of the original ‘Beauty and the Beast’ story, Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve and it includes Belle’s cottage, a school house, a dress shop, a village tavern, a church and the village square.
For the film’s epic opening number, ‘Belle’, which takes place in Villeneuve, more than 150 extras, hundreds of animals, 28 wagons and countless props and set decorations were used, each with an incredible amount of detail.
And replicating the magic of the village wasn’t the only challenge, the floor of the Beast’s castle had to be made from 12,000 square feet of faux marble.
The guide added: “And featured ten glass chandeliers – each measuring 14 ft x 7 ft – which are based on actual chandeliers from Versailles which were then frosted, covered in fabric and candlelit.”

New Mulan won't be musical

OHMYGOSSIP — Niki Caro confirmed there won’t be any songs in Disney’s live-action feature film ‘Mulan’.
The 49-year-old director is in charge of the upcoming adventure film, which is based on a young Chinese maiden who disguises herself as a warrior in order to save her father, and admitted her family are “horrified” that the iconic songs that featured in the 1998 animation, such as ‘I’ll Make a Man Out of You’ and ‘Reflection’, won’t be a part of the new take on the tale.
Speaking to Moviefone, Niki confirmed: “Yes, from what I understand, no songs right now, much to the horror of my children.”
Sean Bailey, the president of Motion Picture Production at Walt Disney Studios, recently said Niki would be taking a “very muscular” approach to the tale, and the director confirmed his comments about her plans for the “girly martial arts epic”.
She said: “Well I’m not going to contradict Sean. His sensibility and mine for the material is right in sync. It’s a big, girly martial arts epic. It will be extremely muscular and thrilling and entertaining and moving.”
Disney previously revealed it would be casting Chinese stars for the role of Mulan and all primary characters.
They said: “The studio is focusing its casting search in mainland China for the main roles, including the legendary woman warrior herself.”
But Niki kept her lips sealed over whether reports that the deleted scene where the Huns sneak in via a Chinese dragon is going to be in this movie,
She added: “I could not possibly comment upon that.”
The screenplay is written by Lauren Hynek, Rick Jaffa, Elizabeth Martin, Amanda Silver and produced by Chris Bender, William Kong, Jason Reed, J.C. Spink and Jake Weiner.

Mark Charnock says an expert was on set during Emmerdale's choking scenes

OHMYGOSSIP — Mark Charnock asked for an expert to accompany him on set when he was shooting the child choking scenes on ‘Emmerdale’.
Fans were left gripped to the edge of their seats on Monday (20.03.17) night when Marlon Dingle’s (Mark) daughter April got a hard-boiled sweet wedged in her throat and, in order to make the storyline as realistic and safe as possible, the cast member requested professional help with administering the life-saving technique so that viewers at home could learn something from the scenes.
Speaking about filming the scenes on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’ show, on Tuesday (21.03.17) morning, Mark said: “It is every parent’s worst nightmare, we wanted to get that right because we have a responsibility, the whole choking thing as well, we asked for a guy to be on set to show us how to do it properly if people were watching they would get an idea of what to do. They say don’t panic but who wouldn’t.”
Mark admitted it was vital that they addressed the issue properly because sharing the technique on screen could potentially save a child’s life in the future.
Mark explained: “The guy was brilliant because you’ve got to get between that thing of getting it right technically, bend the child forward slightly and put your hand on the chest and on the back and hit her hard, but he was saying you need to bend her further forward obviously Marlon wouldn’t be an expert in this so you want it to look real as well, so it’s tricky.”
The scenes saw Marlon’s girlfriend Carly Hope (Gemma Atkinson) witness the ordeal but her instincts fail to kick in because she’s still tormented by the fact her son Billy died at two months old from sudden infant death syndrome.
Gemma said: “It’s terrifying, even when we filmed it, it was horrible. Carly’s already lost a baby early to cot death, so in her mind it’s too much pressure for her and she doesn’t want it to happen again and it’s not because she doesn’t care or love April, she just genuinely didn’t know what to do.”
Carly ran away – leaving viewers wondering whether she will return to the Dales.
Gemma, 32, explained: “She’s just one of those people, if she’s facing a problem she just runs away, she thinks it’s better if she just starts a fresh somewhere else, she’s lived all over the country and has had no stability in her life until now. So now she has that, we’re dying for Marlon to say to her, ‘listen, I do trust you, we can make it work’ but it has to be dramatic.”
Mark added: “From his point of view it’s heart breaking because he is in love with her, and he’s a character I think who is in love with the idea of being in love, and he wants to love somebody so it’s a big thing for him, he wants to have a family and he’s finally found someone who he really believes will be an amazing mum to his daughter but it doesn’t take much to prick that bubble that they’ve got themselves into – especially with the situation she’s got herself in to – she’s not grieved for him [Billy] at all.”

Can't Touch This is axed by BBC

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Can’t Touch This’ has been axed after just one series on screen.
The weekend game show, which is presented by Zoe Ball and Ashley Banjo, has become the latest in a long line of programmes to be given the chop by the BBC after it failed to draw in enough viewers over the the course of the past 10 episodes.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “The BBC thought the show’s big names, as well as family favourite Ashley would draw in a really good audience. But for a Saturday night show it performed very poorly. The first episode got around three million viewers but it went south of that very quickly. Audiences just didn’t connect with it. It just goes to show that launching a game show format is getting harder and harder.”
‘Can’t Touch This’, which was narrated by Sue Perkins, was described as a “mousetrap for humans” as contestants battled it out on an assault course for prizes.
The show was produced by Stellify Media and was previously referred to as a cross between ‘Ninja Warrior’ and a children’s soft play area as contestants regularly plummeted into foam mats rather than water – like the ITV show based on ‘Sasuke’.
The decision to drop ‘Can’t Touch This’ comes just days after it was announced ‘Blind Date’ – also produced by Stellify Media – is set for a reboot on Channel 5 this year.
The classic game show was fronted by the late Cilla Black for almost two decades from 1985 until 2003 and, although a revival has been in the pipeline for some time, she tragically passed away in 2015 following a fatal fall at her Spanish home.
Bosses are keen to keep some of the “traditional” elements of the previous run but have decided to give it an updated twist to appeal to a “new generation of viewers”.
It’s expected to run on Friday nights – rather than its traditional Saturday night slot – and will consist of six to eight episodes per series for the first few installments.
The programme sees three singletons grilled by a member of the opposite sex in order to find the perfect match without being able to see them. The new couple then pick an envelope with their holiday destination – abroad or in the UK – inside and will spend the next week trying to get to know one another.

Howard Donald's daughter to audition for The X Factor?

OHMYGOSSIP — Howard Donald’s daughter is planning to audition for ‘The X Factor’.
The Take That singer has revealed that 17-year-old Grace – whom he has with ex Victoria Piddington – plans on following in her father’s footsteps by going up against other hopefuls by performing in front of the judges on the ITV talent show or alternative series such as ‘The Voice’ in a bid to launch a pop career.
The 48-year-old heartthrob – who also has 12-year-old Lola with ex Marie-Christine Musswessels, as well as, newborn son Dougie Bear, who was born 10 months after their 14-month-old son Bowie with his wife Katie Halil – told the Daily Star newspaper: “I have got a 17 year old and, since watching me on TV, she has wanted to go on ‘The X Factor’ or some sort of talent show.”
However, the ‘Giants’ hitmaker – who recently appeared on his band mate Gary Barlow’s talent contest ‘Let it Shine’ – isn’t too pleased that his teenage daughter wants to compete on a talent show and he is worried she will get “upset” by the critical judges and the intense process contestants go through on those kind of shows.
He added: “I sort of didn’t want my daughter to be upset because it’s a really tough thing to handle if you don’t get through.”
Meanwhile, Take That have bagged their own television show on ITV – again.
The trio – Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard – have appeared in numerous TV specials on the channel since they reunited as a band in 2006 following a 10 year hiatus, performing hits from a mixture of their albums.
And ITV recently announced their return to the channel, ahead of their upcoming ‘Wonderland Tour’, with a new TV special that will air later this year.
The group, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, have sold over eight million concert tickets and currently hold the record for the fastest selling tour of all time in UK history for their 2011 ‘Progress Live Tour’.
The band said in a statement: “We are really looking forward to performing material from our new album ‘Wonderland’ some of it for the first time. But a Take That special would not be the same without a few classics also thrown into the mix!”

Neighbours will remain on UK screens

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Neighbours’ will remain on UK television screens for the foreseeable future.
The long-running soap has aired in Britain for the past 31 years and, although it was recently rumoured that Channel 5 had decided to pull the plug on the series, bosses from Fremantle Media Australia – the production company behind the programme – has teased that viewers can expect some “exciting storylines” over the next year or so.
A spokesperson for the show told the Express.co.uk: “‘Neighbours’ is a fantastic show, with a legion of loyal fans around the world. We enjoy a great working relationship with our broadcast partners, and already have some exciting story plans for next year.”
Alan Fletcher – who portrays womaniser Karl Kennedy in the show – has also warned that Channel 5 would be crazy to drop the series as the current storyline involving Toadie (Ryan Moloney) and Dee Bliss (Madeleine West) in London has been a hit.
He told Sydney’s Nova 96.9 FM: “All I can say is our relationship with our broadcasters at Channel 5 and [Aussie channel] Channel Eleven couldn’t be better and couldn’t be stronger. And the stories we’re doing at the moment – particularly right now with Toadie (Ryan Moloney) over in London chasing Dee Bliss (Madeleine West) – that storyline has been probably one of the most successful we’ve ever had in terms of audience numbers and interest. It’s absolutely going off at the moment.”
After rumours began to circulate suggesting ‘Neighbours’ would no longer be screened in the UK, a petition was launched by fans to keep it on the small screen indefinitely.
‘Neighbours’ is responsible for launching the international careers of Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan, who played Charlene Robinson and Scott Robinson, respectively.

Queen Elizabeth is a fan of Mrs Brown's Boys

OHMYGOSSIP — Queen Elizabeth is a huge fan of ‘Mrs Brown’s Boys’.
The BBC comedy may have received mixed reviews from viewers but the show’s producer Brendan O’Carroll – who also plays the hilarious titular character in the series – isn’t too bothered by the negative comments as he’s got the royal family on side.
Speaking to the Radio Times magazine, he explained: “We also do know that they are personal fans! They’re mad about the show.”
The 61-year-old star has also claimed that Buckingham Palace – where the queen and her husband Prince Philip reside – requested a copy of the Christmas special last year.
The show’s new format sees Mrs Brown – also known as Agnes – interview a celebrity’s mother in the kitchen of her home while the famous star appears on stage, and Brendan has joked that he’d like to persuade the 90-year-old monarch to appear.
He teased: “It can’t be a Christmas special because we’ve already got one [the regular Mrs Brown Christmas show has been commissioned by the BBC to 2020] but there’s nothing wrong with it being an Easter special.”
Meanwhile, ‘Mrs Brown’s Boys’ isn’t the only programme the queen is a fan of as it’s previously been claimed she and her spouse are avid watchers of ‘Pointless’.
It was also thought the couple spent their afternoons watching ‘Antiques Roadshow’, ‘Keeping Up Appearances’ and ‘Dad’s Army’, as well as ‘Downton Abbey,’ which came to an end in December 2015 following five years on screen, on a Sunday evenings.

Robert Downey Jr. to star in The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle

OHMYGOSSIP — Robert Downey Jr. is set to play Doctor Dolittle in a new take on the famous character who talks to animals.
The 51-year-old actor – famous for playing Iron Man in several Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, including ‘Avengers Assemble’ – is to take the lead role in Universal Pictures’ ‘The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle’.
The project will be written and directed by Stephen Gaghan, who won an Oscar for his screenplay for Steven Soderbergh’s drug trade drama ‘Traffic’ and most recently directed Matthew McConaughey in ‘Gold’.
Universal Pictures acquired the project after a heated bidding war and the studio has teamed up with producers Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum through their company Roth/Kirschenbaum Films, which has worked on movies such as ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and ‘Maleficent’, alongside Susan Downey for Team Downey.
The popular Doctor Dolittle character was created by British author Hugh Lofting as he fought in the trenches during World War I and his series of children’s books were published in the 1920s telling the adventures of a Victorian-era physician who learns to talk to animals.
Lofting’s character has previously been portrayed by Rex Harrison in the 1967 musical ‘Doctor Dolittle’, which won Oscars for Best Original Song and Best Visual Effects and Eddie Murphy who took on the part in the 1998 film ‘Dr. Dolittle’ and the 2001 sequel, both of which earned a combined total of $470 million at the worldwide box office.

Ronan Keating's tears on Another Mother's Son

OHMYGOSSIP — Ronan Keating “welled up” with tears a lot when he was filming ‘Another Mother’s Son’ because of the powerful themes of the World War II drama.
The Boyzone singer plays Harold Le Druillenec, the only British survivor of the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, in the movie in what is his second main film role.
The plot of the movie is based on real-life events that occurred during the German occupation of the Channel Islands and focuses on Harold’s sister Louisa Gould (Jenny Seagrove) who hides an escaped Russian prisoner of war Bill (Julian Kostov) from the Nazi forces to save his life.
As tension mounts in Jersey, it becomes clear that British Prime Minister Winston Churchill will not risk an assault to recapture the British soil, and the island-community spirit begins to fray under pressures of hunger, occupation and divided loyalty as Louisa fights to preserve her family’s sense of humanity and to protect the Russian boy as if he was her own.
Ronan admits the life and death reality of the true situation weighed heavily on his heart.
In an interview with the Metro newspaper, he said: “I welled up a lot filming this. It was intense. There’s one train scene I found hard to shake off after leaving the set. It was very heavy and harrowing.”
Although Ronan researched his role thoroughly he did not visit the site of the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in Lower Saxony in northern Germany as he did not think he would be able to handle it.
He said: “No, I don’t think I would be able to. That would stay with you.”
Ronan may have scored eight number one hit singles in the UK with Boyzone and as a solo artist and sold more than 45 million albums combined across the world he has always harboured acting ambitions.
He shared: “Looking someone in the eye and reacting to what they say, this is exciting. Especially in a film like this where the other guy is wearing a Nazi uniform and he’s speaking to you and there are all these things going on in your brain, it’s just – wowser!”
And it’s no secret that Ronan, 40, previously auditioned for a role as an elf warrior in the ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ which he didn’t get but the experience spurred him on to keep trying out for parts.
He said: “[I auditioned] for Logolas’ mate, and elf warrior, basically. For me, more than anything, it’s getting into the audition room. A lot of casting agents and directors won’t get past the fact I’m Ronan Keating, so it’s about showing them what I am capable of.”

Elizabeth Banks wants Power Rangers 2

OHMYGOSSIP — Elizabeth Banks is hopeful for ‘Power Rangers 2’.
The 43-year-old actress stars as the villain Rita Repulsa in the upcoming reboot of the popular superhero franchise, and has said she thinks the movie “speaks to young people” and would be “down for whatever” when it comes to reprising her role for a possible sequel.
She told ScreenRant.com when asked about whether or not she sees a future for her character: “I mean, we are just here in this moment right now… Hoping that the fans embrace the movie, hoping people love it, you know? I think, I mean I love it, and I had so much fun, I think it’s really fun, I think it speaks to young people, in a great, fresh way, um I love this cast, so I’m, I’m down for whatever, but I… I don’t predict the future; I don’t predict the future.”
The news comes after Lionsgate previously revealed there could be “six or seven” ‘Power Rangers’ movies, though it is unknown whether or not any of those would still include Banks’ character.
Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer said previously: “We are really, really excited about the ‘Power Rangers’ movie. We could see doing five or six or seven.”
The ‘Power Rangers’ movie will re-imagine the origins of the action heroes – who are a group of high school kids given extra-terrestrial powers – as they battle it out against Rita Repulsa with the help of their mentor Zordon, played by Bryan Cranston.
The Rangers themselves will be played by Becky G as the Yellow Ranger, Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger, Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger, Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger and RJ Cyler as the Blue Ranger.
‘Power Rangers’ is set to hit theatres on March 24.

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Cruise has been “training for a year” for his role in ‘Mission: Impossible 6’.
The Hollywood icon has reprised the part of IMF agent Ethan Hunt for the latest movie in the money-spinning franchise and producer David Ellison has revealed the lengths Tom has gone to for one particularly demanding scene.
He told Collider: “What Tom is doing in this movie I believe will top anything that’s come before. It is absolutely unbelievable – he’s been training for a year.
“It is going to be, I believe, the most impressive and unbelievable thing that Tom Cruise has done in a movie, and he has been working on it since right after ‘Rogue Nation’ came out. It’s gonna be mind-blowing.”
David’s comments come shortly after it was confirmed Henry Cavill has joined the cast of ‘Mission: Impossible 6’.
Henry’s appearance in the new movie was revealed during an Instagram exchange shared by the project’s director Christopher McQuarrie.

Henry responded: “@christophermcquarrie only if I get to fly for real. (sic)”
Then, Christopher wrote: “@henrycavill I do believe I specified practical stunts. You in? (sic)”
And Henry responded: “Oh ok…..I’m in! (sic)”

Tim Healy 'briefly died' during Benidorm filming

OHMYGOSSIP — Tim Healy briefly died during filming for ‘Benidorm’.
The 65-year-old actor, who stars as a cross-dresser called Lesley in the ITV comedy, spent a month in intensive care in Spain after contracting a mystery illness in April 2016 and he even died for a brief moment.
Derren Litten, the show’s writer, said: “They operated on Tim and it didn’t go well at all.
“He died. He flat lined. They had to resuscitate him. He was in intensive care for a month.”
Tim subsequently spent time recovering at home in Manchester, once doctors determined he was well enough to fly back to the UK.
But Derren has now revealed just how close the actor came to losing his life because of the mystery illness.
He told Cool FM Spain: “He was incredibly unwell. We had shot about three episodes with Tim.
“I got a phone call from Tim’s wife, Joan, at the hotel and she said he was unwell, doubled up in pain and can’t move.
“I jumped into my car and went down there. He was in a pretty bad way.”
Meanwhile, actress Janine Duvitski, who stars alongside Tim in ‘Still Open All Hours’, previously said he is working his way back towards full health.
Speaking in September, she shared: “So I saw him last week and he’s lost a lot of weight.
“He was really poorly. He said it’s not a good way of losing a lot of weight but he’s back working now.”
Tim’s health troubles meant his character Lesley was written out of series nine of the hit ITV show.
However, he is poised to return to the programme for its tenth series, after making significant progress in his recovery.
